More Trouble for Alex Murdaugh, Teen Stephen Smith Body Exhume
The other mysterious deaths connected to the Alex Murdaugh family are now back in the news. As convicted killer Murdaugh, await his prison designation, we learn that Stephen Smith's mother has raised enough money to pay for her son's body to be exhumed. In 2015 Stephen Smith was found dead in the middle of the road in Hampton County. The openly gay 19-year-old had blunt force trauma to the head and his death was officially ruled as a hit-and-run. Smith’s family has never believed the teen's death was accidental. They say the actions credited to Smith were outside his normal behavior and the Murdaugh name popping up in the investigation set rumors flying. Smith’s mother Sandy Smith launched a GoFundMe to raise money for an exhumation and independent autopsy. She has raised more than her goal. An investigation is also still underway into the mysterious death of the Murdaugh’s longtime housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield. 'Tummy Tuck Four': Americans Kidnapped, Murdered, En Route to Tuck
Five friends set out from South Carolina to Mexico. Latavia "Tay" McGee, a mom of 6, wanted a tummy tuck. The surgical procedure to remove abdominal fat was scheduled with a doctor in Matamoros, just across the US/Mexico border. One of the friends stayed behind in a Brownsville, Texas hotel room. Exorcism, Swaddling, Food Restriction Leads to Death of 4-Year-Old Boy
A text from his wife makes Joseph Wilson call 911 to report that his adopted son Skyler is having a seizure. That text message, however, came in hours earlier. Jodi Wilson wrote "Something happened while swaddling Skyler." Included in the text was a picture of Skyler wrapped in a sheet, face down, and duct taped to the floor. Skyler was taken to Brenner Children's hospital where a doctor explained to a detective that Skyler had a Hypoxic Brain Injury, caused by a lack of oxygen getting to his brain. Accused Killer, Vegas Politician Robert Telles: "I'M BEING FRAMED"
The former public official charged in the death of Las Vegas Review-Journal Investigative Reporter Jeff German now says he's being framed. Robert Telles called KLAS-TV asking for an interview to make his claims. German was found stabbed dead outside his home. Days later, cops release surveillance video of a possible suspect in a wide-brimmed straw hat, an orange safety shirt, and black pants walking near the scene. More investigation revealed that German's reporting put him at odds with Telles. German reported that Telles created a toxic work environment and was having an extra-marital affair with an employee. These claims seem to have cost Telles his re-election bid. Investigators searched Robert Telles' home, towing a red SUV, and finding shoes with apparent blood on them. A straw hat matching the one shown in the video was also found. Both articles had been cut up in an effort to destroy evidence, but DNA under German's fingernails told police everything they needed to know. Teen Perp Accused in Rape, Death of LSU Coed CHARGED AS ADULT
The minor accused of raping Madison Brooks in the back seat of a car will be tried as an adult. Desmond Carter, 17, has been indicted for first-degree rape and third-degree rape. Kaivon Washington, 18, is also charged with third-degree rape. Everette Lee, 28, and Casen Carver, 18, were charged with principal to third-degree rape, which means they were there when the incident occurred but did not take part in it. LSU student Madison Brooks is killed after being hit by a car. Brooks was standing in the road at the time. Police say Brooks left a Tigerland bar with four men. Two of the men, then allegedly rape the very inebriated 19-year-old. When Brooks cannot give the men her address, she is dropped off around 3 a.m. in a random neighborhood. That is when Brooks is hit by the car. That driver showed no signs or evidence of being impaired. At first police said the suspects videotaped the assault but in the last hours, recanted those comments and apologized for the error. There is, however, a video of Brooks arguing with the men in the car. The four men who left with Brooks claim the sex was consensual, but hospital staff says Brooks' blood alcohol level was nearly 4 times the legal limit. Alex Murdaugh: Behavior of an Addict
Alex Murdaugh admitted to jurors that he has been using opioid drugs for more than twenty years. At times, he said, he was spending as much as $50,000 a week on drugs. Murdaugh said his addiction began with a college football injury which lead to multiple surgeries and prescription pain medication. Murdaugh said that he soon became dependent. The accused killer also told the jurors that he had tried to get help several times but relapsed each time. Murdaugh said it was his addiction that led him to steal from the law firm, clients and his own family. Murdaugh also said it was his addiction and paranoia that impelled him to lie about his whereabouts on the night of the murder. Nancy Grace talks with addiction expert Dr. William Morrone, Author of “American Narcan," about how the opiates could have affected Murdaugh's actions. Defense Changes Course: Killer Now Tall?
Bombshells in the Murdaugh courtroom today as the defense asked for the jury to be taken to Mozelle. Defense attorney Dick Harpootlian said he wants the jury to see the family's rural hunting lodge, so before jurors move to deliberations, they will be allowed to walk through the crime scene. Also today a defense witness seemed to contradict another defense witness who claimed the shooter was around 5'2". Today's expert testified that the shooter would be taller than Maggie or Paul Murdaugh. DEATH PENALTY: Tot Athena Strand, 7, Found Dead, KIDNAPPED by FedEx Driver.
Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty in the death of 7-year-old Athena Strand. The 7-year-old was taken from her family home by a FedEx delivery driver and was dead within an hour of her abduction. Authorities say a contract FedEx driver who was delivering a package to Strand’s home kidnapped the girl. Investigators say Strand got off a bus around 4:15 p.m. and was missing from the residence at some point before 5:15 p.m. after an argument with her stepmother. An hour-long search ensued, but when Strand could not be found, 911 was called. Dozens of law enforcement and hundreds of volunteers joined the search effort. Police received a tip about the FedEx Driver Tanner Horner. When approached by police, Horner confessed. Police have not said whether Strand was sexually assaulted. Is Alex Murdaugh Believable?
Alex Murdaugh's testimony at times seems more like a circus than a courtroom with talk of dogs, and chickens. Murdaugh first related at length how he removed a chicken from his dog's month and the timing of it at the kennel. Then under cross-examination, the accused killer went over the activities at the kennel again, in exactly detail. Both the defense and prosecution look to use this testimony. One side saying the information proves Alex Murdaugh could not be a killer, the other side saying the testimony shows he lied. Murdaugh has repeatedly admitted that he stole money from clients and loved ones. He also admitted that he lied to police. So the question now is, can a jury believe that Murdaugh is now telling the truth when he says that he did not kill his wife and son. Nancy Grace and Sheryl McCollum, Founder: Cold Case Investigative Research Institute, look at the possibilities. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Pill Popping Serial Liar Alex Murdaugh Admits at Murder Scene
Alex Murdaugh's cross-examination continued today with the disgraced attorney admitting that he had lied many times. Not only had he lied to investigators and clients but also his loved ones. Still, he insisted that he was telling the truth about his innocence. Murdaugh's testimony ended today and Dick Harpootlian, one of Alex Murdaugh’s lawyers, says more witnesses will be called on Monday. The prosecution could call two rebuttal witnesses after that. It's possible the case may be in the jury’s hands by mid-week. Alex Murdaugh to Take the Stand?
Alex Murdaugh could take the stand in his own defense on Thursday. New reports speculated on whether the accused killer will take the stand. The defense attorneys laid the groundwork, asking the judge about the range of questions Murdaugh could be asked on cross-examine, and whether Murdaugh would be able to take his Fifth Amendment right against incriminating himself. Judge Clifton Newman said any ruling would be made as they happened, not before the testimony. Also in court today, Murdaugh's former friend and law partner testified about going to Moselle after hearing about the murders. Mark Ball said he was angry and mortified after hearing an officer say, "we have all we need," referring to evidence of Ball finding a baseball size chunk of Paul Murdaugh's skull still lying on the kennel floor.
