Surveillance photos show the mother of teen murder suspect Aiden Fucci washing his clothes the day teen girl Tristyn Bailey was murdered. Crystal Smith was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence in connection to the girl's death -year-old's death. Fucci, 14, has been charged with Bailey’s Mother’s Day murder. Investigators believe he stabbed Bailey 114 times. The former classmates had grown up in the same neighborhood but it does not appear that Fucci targeted Bailey specifically, though friends later said Fucci claimed he would kill someone in the near future. Surveillance video appears to show the pair walking together early the morning of May 9. Fucci is later seen running, alone, from the same area. Teen Aiden Fucci pled guilty to Tristen Bailey's murder. Crystal Lane Bailey pleaded no contest to tampering with evidence. She was sentenced to 30 days and has now been released. Leslie Van Houten was 19 years old when she and other followers of Charles Manson brutally killed Leno and Rosemary LaBianca inside their Los Angeles home. Leno LaBianca had been stabbed 12 times with a knife and seven times with a carving fork. The fork stuck in his abdomen, and a kitchen knife in his throat. The word “war” had also been carved into his abdomen. Mrs. LaBianca had a total of 41 stab wounds on the front and back of her body. Now after 53 years in custody, the convicted killer is free. In the early morning hours of Sunday, they end up at the home of Dr. McKinney. Just a few hours later, 911 is called, twice. Amber Spradlin has been stabbed eleven times in the head, neck and throat. A Georgia man heads outside to confront a trio of teens egging a home, but he ends up dead. Police are calling the shooting the result of an ongoing "lover's quarrel." Sydney Maughon and Jeremy Munson, both 18, and 19-year-old McKenzie Davenport go to the home where Jonathan Gilbert is staying, planning to egg the home. Jonathan Gilbert comes outside to confront the trio, who run back to their car and speed off. Gilbert continues after the car when Maughon grabbed a gun from the car and shot Gilbert multiple times. He was left dead in the middle of the road. A witness gave investigators information linking the victim and the suspects. A 7-year-old girl drowns in a hotel pool while her mother drinks in the hotel bar. Katlyn Pineda was found lifeless in the Marriott Melville Long Island pool last year. She remained in a coma on a ventilator and feeding tube for a year, until she died on May 1, 2023. Mom Erica Baez, 41, told investigators the girl had been alone for five minutes. The girl had actually been alone for at least half an hour while Baez ate and drank in the hotel bar. Baez then checked on the girl and went upstairs to check on her 5-month-old son, also left alone. She then went back to the bar. Prosecutors say after another 30 minutes, Baez found Katlyn in the water. Hotel staff say Baez was told that there was no lifeguard on duty and that she was required to be with her daughter. The little girl suffered “irreversible” brain damage from lack of oxygen. After being in a long-term care facility in New Jersey for a year, she died. A Manhattan corporate attorney is accused of serial rape and arrested in New Jersey. Matthew Nilo, 35, is charged with sexually assaulting four women 15 years ago. The first victim reported being abducted at gunpoint, driven to Terminal Street in Charleston, and raped. A fourth woman was attacked while she was jogging. Investigators turned to forensic investigative genealogy, and after identifying Nilo as a person of interest, he was placed under surveillance. FBI agents obtain eating utensils and drinking glasses Niko used at a corporate event. A DNA profile, which matched the rape suspect, was obtained from one of the glasses. Nilo has pleaded not guilty. The search for Ricky Griffis began two days after his last contact with his mother. When Alice Mabe texted her 46-year-old son, asking if he was coming home that night, he said "no." Accused killer Richard Allen has confessed, according to recently-released court documents. Allen made a phone call to his wife and in that call, admitted several times that he killed Libby German and Abby Williams. Allen's wife abruptly hangs up the phone. All calls from jail are recorded. Allen's attorney says the admissions were caused by Allen's decline in his mental health, which prompted the attorney to ask for Allen to be moved to another jail. The judge has not ruled on the move yet. We also know that the girls' injuries were caused by a sharp object. Some articles of clothing from the girls were missing from the scene, including a pair of underwear and a sock. Most of the girls' clothing was found south of the girls' bodies. A terrifying find by a Texas man cutting grass: a suitcase with baby clothes, pampers, and the remains of a little girl, inside. Forensic testing identifies the girl as a 2 to 5-year-old. The tot's body is underdeveloped, and medical supplies with the body indicated she suffered from a serious medical condition. The remains were recovered in Texas, but pollen found on the belongings points to somewhere further west. Sarah Hartsfield has been indicted for first-degree murder in the death of her fifth husband, Joseph. He died of complications of the toxic effects of insulin. Sarah Hartsfield calls 911 after getting no response from her diabetic husband. Hartsfield had been sleeping in another room, coping with her own health issues from a recent surgery, when she says her husband's diabetes monitor went off. At the hospital, Joseph Hartsfield's sugar levels should have responded to treatment but didn't. Hospital staff found that strange and reported suspicions to the police. An investigation revealed that Hartsfield wasn't the first of Sarah Hartsfield's romantic involvements to die, and then police learn of threats to others. Sarah Hartsfield shot and killed her former fiancé David Bragg in self-defense. Police are now re-examining the case. Hartsfield has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and is being held in lieu of $4.5 million bond. One of the bombshell pieces of evidence in the Bryan Kohberger murder case is the fact that Kohberger's DNA is a "statistical match" to DNA found on a knife sheath at the scene. Investigators found the Ka-Bar knife sheath "face down and partially under both Madison's body and the comforter on the bed." A probable cause affidavit unsealed in January stated that the DNA found had been matched to Kohberger’s father. The elder Kohberger's DNA was recovered from trash outside the family home. A short tandem repeat (STR) analysis was performed to develop a profile. That profile was compared against material from Kohberger’s cheek swab. The result of the comparison is a statistical match—meaning the profile is at least 5.37 octillion times more likely to be from Kohberger rather than an unrelated random person. The prosecutors have argued for sealing information related to the use of investigative genetic genealogy. The socialite charged with shoving an elderly woman to her death may be getting a plea deal. Lauren Pazienza's attorney says the woman couldn’t possess the intent to commit the crime. Defense attorney Arthur Aidala says his client was using prescription drugs, and had imbibed up to two bottles of wine, and marijuana at the time. The victim, 87-year-old Broadway singing coach Barbara Maier Gustern, fell and hit her head, after being hit by Pazienza. She was conscious directly after the incident, but fell into unconsciousness and died from her injuries five days later. Pazienza has already turned down two plea deals from prosecutors. If convicted, Pazienza faces up to 25 years behind bars. Her next court date is July 20. Murders suspect Bryan Kohberger's defense team is asking a judge to stay proceedings in the case. Attorney Anne Taylor is calling for prosecutors to disclose more materials, including the full record of the grand jury proceedings. Taylor says the information is necessary to Kohberger's defense, intended to quote, "preserve his right to contest the indictment." While Kohberger's legal team is entitled to the transcript of the grand jury, there is a question of what other information could be handed over, such as people who were subpoenaed, or anything said off the record. This is as details are released on the probability of the DNA match from the knife sheath found at the murder scene. Court documents state that DNA collected from suspect Bryan Kohberger is a ‘statistical match’ for DNA on the sheath of the knife. Kohberger’s attorney is asking a judge for more time to decide whether to offer a formal alibi for Kohberger in this case. Taylor said in a motion that the defense team had not had sufficient time to fully review the evidence provided by the prosecution.
