Earlier today, our podcast message was about submitting your vision to your spouse. From that message, I received a listener's question asking what should they do if their spouse is not ready to walk in the vision God has given them. Submission in many households is a bad word, but it is a word God loves. We may be familiar with it in the context of wives submitting to their husbands. Most of our calling is composed of small steps of faith directed by Holy Spirit. Most of us grew up in the midst of debt. Our parents had house and car notes. Our churches had mortgages on the Church builds. And so on. Because of the culture influence of debt many of us have debt on everything from clothes to cars. However, this is not how God designed us to live. Many times when I ask believers why they want to start a business, they usually say they want more money to help extend the Kingdom of God. This sounds good, but its usually not their true reason. Imagine a dad promises to buy a car for his daughter. If the daughter doesn't believe her dad's word, then she is expressing that she feels her dad is lying and untrustworthy. This is the same situation when we don't believe God's written word in the Bible or His spoken word to our spirit: we are basically calling God a liar. Links: Workshop, Partnership

It is very tempting to criticize another Christian when we see them doing something that goes against our understanding of scripture. For example, you see a pastor asking her followers to sow into her ministry, so she can purchase a private jet. Perhaps you see a Christian music artist starting to sing secular music. Maybe a Christian entrepreneur is operating his business differently than you would expect of a Christian. And the list can go on and on. Here's the problem: when you criticize another Christian as they are operating in their calling, you're not really criticizing them, you're criticizing God. In today's message, I am answering a question from one of our listeners. The question is, "Should Christians be secretive in business dealings?" The scenario behind this question is that this listener and their cousin are starting a Christian radio station. They want to purchase a radio commercial in an effort to learn about the process of selling radio air time and commercials. However, they don't want to reveal to the radio station the real reason behind the purchase of the commercial. They are wondering whether, as Christians, can they be secret shoppers (in a sense), or should they be transparent about their motives? Links: Workshop, Partner

We talk a lot about following God's directions so that we can succeed in our life and calling. However, how does God get a specific word to us so that we can follow His directions for our life? If we do not understand how this happens, we are not going to hear what He is guiding us to do. Therefore, in today's message, learn how God transmits His instructions to us. God gives us grace in implementing our calling when we are unsure about some of the details because we all are a work in progress. However, we must be vigilant not to deviate from the details we do know. Success is in the God-ordained details of our calling, and failure is in the deviation from those details. Mary's faith to conceive Jesus is a great example for us of how to stretch our mind and spirit to receive the vision God has for us. When presented with the greatest calling of all time (giving birth to the messiah) instead of doubt, Mary stretched her mind beyond human understanding and simply asked - How shall this be. There are many times along your entrepreneurial journey where you need to quit certain activities to gain more success. These times occur because you either misheard God, or the seasons for those activities have ended. In those times, you need to quit the details, but not the vision, and allow God to course correct or course update. Links Workshop Partner

A trap that many entrepreneurs and ministers fall into is making their God-given vision their god, instead of the Lord being their God. This is a deceptive trap. All your outward actions may look godly and in line with the vision, but your heart motivation is no longer right. This is dangerous because outward actions are meaningless when your heart motive is wrong. A question I get a lot is "Are believers required to tithe?" It is a simple question, but this question has caused church splits and furious debates. Some say yes and others say no. Because we are children of God, we have an embedded desire to help others. However, before we can help others, we first need to take care of ourselves. I received a question from a listener who asked, "How do I get out of debt?" Well, the common answer is to cut expenses and live below your means. However, that is only part of the solution. The other half (probably the most important half) of the solution is to make more money. When we look at the scripture, the answer God gave us to get out of debt is to make more money through the blessing on the works of hand. God gives us assignments that are for a moment, season, or lifetime. As we are doing an assignment, we may not know which time frame it falls into. Therefore, it is important to stay connected to Holy Spirit and not assume an assignment from God is forever so that we can be open to hearing if (or when) a change in assignment comes. It is critical for us to stay aware of God's current assignments within our calling. This is important because when God ends one assignment and instructs us to undertake another, He removes His anointing from the old assignment and transfers it to the new one. If we miss the transition, He does not force us to stop the old assignment. He will allow us to keep going without His anointing. However, this is not a good situation for us because without the anointing, that same assignment that used to be fun and full of success will turn bitter, stress us out, and drive us to depression. COVID-19 has created two camps. One camp says COVID-19 is not that bad and we should go about our normal lives. The other camp says COVID-19 is the worst thing ever, everyone should be sacred, and we are never going back to normal. Both of these opposing viewpoints are not kingdom principles because as kingdom citizens the principle we use (in this situation or any bad situation) is "acknowledge the facts, but speak the truth." What holds most Christians in business back from maximal success is this nagging question in the back of their mind: Is pursuing money okay? This uncertainty has them charging less money than they should or wanting to give their products and services away for free. Due to worldly and churchly pressures, we are inundated with messages that say making money is bad, from Hollywood to the Pulpit. They see the pursuit of profit in business as a necessary evil at best, and at worst they see pursuing profit as taking from society and the poor. There are very few things that the world and the church agree on, and it seems like that they both have deemed pursuing profit as bad. However, this thought process will hold you back from fulfilling what God has called you to do in business.
