Success in life is based on our ability to hear the voice of God. His voice guides us safely through life's challenges, helps us understand the holy scriptures, and reveals to us our calling. However, hearing God's voice is not automatic; it's learned. And what better time to learn to hear God's voice but as a child. Imagine a dad promises to buy a car for his daughter. If the daughter doesn't believe her dad's word, then she is expressing that she feels her dad is lying and untrustworthy. This is the same situation when we don't believe God's written word in the Bible or His spoken word to our spirit: we are basically calling God a liar. Links: Workshop, Partnership

It is very tempting to criticize another Christian when we see them doing something that goes against our understanding of scripture. For example, you see a pastor asking her followers to sow into her ministry, so she can purchase a private jet. Perhaps you see a Christian music artist starting to sing secular music. Maybe a Christian entrepreneur is operating his business differently than you would expect of a Christian. And the list can go on and on. Here's the problem: when you criticize another Christian as they are operating in their calling, you're not really criticizing them, you're criticizing God. In today's message, I am answering a question from one of our listeners. The question is, "Should Christians be secretive in business dealings?" The scenario behind this question is that this listener and their cousin are starting a Christian radio station. They want to purchase a radio commercial in an effort to learn about the process of selling radio air time and commercials. However, they don't want to reveal to the radio station the real reason behind the purchase of the commercial. They are wondering whether, as Christians, can they be secret shoppers (in a sense), or should they be transparent about their motives? Links: Workshop, Partner

We talk a lot about following God's directions so that we can succeed in our life and calling. However, how does God get a specific word to us so that we can follow His directions for our life? God gives us grace in implementing our calling when we are unsure about some of the details because we all are a work in progress. Mary's faith to conceive Jesus is a great example for us of how to stretch our mind and spirit to receive the vision God has for us. When presented with the greatest calling of all time (giving birth to the messiah) instead of doubt, Mary stretched her mind beyond human understanding and simply asked - How shall this be. There are many times along your entrepreneurial journey where you need to quit certain activities to gain more success. These times occur because you either misheard God, or the seasons for those activities have ended. A question I get a lot is "Are believers required to tithe?" It is a simple question, but this question has caused church splits and furious debates. Some say yes and others say no. I received a question from a listener who asked, "How do I get out of debt?" Well, the common answer is to cut expenses and live below your means. However, that is only part of the solution. God gives us assignments that are for a moment, season, or lifetime. As we are doing an assignment, we may not know which time frame it falls into. Therefore, it is important to stay connected to Holy Spirit and not assume an assignment from God is forever so that we can be open to hearing if (or when) a change in assignment comes. It is critical for us to stay aware of God's current assignments within our calling. This is important because when God ends one assignment and instructs us to undertake another, He removes His anointing from the old assignment and transfers it to the new one. If we miss the transition, He does not force us to stop the old assignment. He will allow us to keep going without His anointing. However, this is not a good situation for us because without the anointing, that same assignment that used to be fun and full of success will turn bitter, stress us out, and drive us to depression. What holds most Christians in business back from maximal success is this nagging question in the back of their mind: Is pursuing money okay? This uncertainty has them charging less money than they should or wanting to give their products and services away for free. They see the pursuit of profit in business as a necessary evil at best, and at worst they see pursuing profit as taking from society and the poor. There are very few things that the world and the church agree on, and it seems like that they both have deemed pursuing profit as bad. However, this thought process will hold you back from fulfilling what God has called you to do in business. Jesus has called his kingdom citizens to be the salt of the world. This means we are here to be a light in the darkness, not a source of chaos. If God has called you to be an entrepreneur, the first thing you need to do is change your mind. The mindset of an entrepreneur is very different from that of an employee. If your mind is not changed, you will struggle in your calling. Many believers give Satan too much power over them. They do this by contributing God-like attributes to him. For example, God can read our thoughts, so many assume Satan can as well. However, he is a fallen angel, not God. Therefore, Satan can't read our thoughts and bring the fears in our thoughts to pass. This revelation brings peace, so we can process and work through fearful thoughts without being afraid that Satan knows what we are thinking and can use that against us. Your natural thinking says, "I don't have enough to do it." However, God's thinking says you have enough money; you just need to use your faith to get more. We hold back our success because the instructions God gives us for success go against how we think it should be done. When we do this, we are putting our thoughts above God's thoughts. To truly receive the fullness of the success God has for us, we must let go of how "we think," and make room for God's thoughts.
