Please accept our sincere apologies. Wait, you do know who the Blue Snowman is, right? The Golden Age Wonder Woman villainess who used a ray gun to create blue snow. Right now, some of you truly believe that we are making this up. Nope, she's a real character, and we didn't have time to talk about her. So tune in and find out which characters and stories we did bring up in discussion. We also have our weekly Pick 3, sponsored by Clint's Comics. WCPE Episode 232 - Comic Fan Shopping on Black Friday

So how was your Thanksgiving? Hopefully you got plenty of turkey -- of tofurkey or Thai food, whatever floats your boat - in you yesterday, and now you are ready to go spend you money in a Black Friday spending frenzy. Well, be sure to bring along the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! while you wait in the check-out line. So we offer up some suggestions for items you might pick up today, be it for yourself or the special comic-loving nerd in your life. Obviously, we're going to encourage you to hit up your local comic shop first, because they have all kinds of unique items that won't be like the other copycat gifts to be found at a box store. We also suggest reaching out to artists and consider adding some original art into your collection. As usual, we have our weekly Pick 3 selections for books coming out next Wednesday, November 28. Cullen and Jerry do their best to guess John's pick this week. We offer up a lot of close choices before we finally correctly get his pick. We also offer up a special treat this week just for you, our loyal listeners. We take a look at the #1 songs of 1983 and 1984. When we discuss Maneater, is that referring to the Hall & Oates song or the new book from Image Comics? Listen in and find out. We would love to hear your comments on the show. WCPE Episode 231 - Remembering Stan Lee

Face front, True Believers! The flags of the comic book community are at half-mast this week as we mourn the loss of Stan Lee at the age of 95. As the writer, editor, architect, and salesman of the Marvel Universe, Lee oversaw a revolution in the comic book industry, transforming Marvel from a publisher on the verge of folding into the industry juggernaut. During his time, he helped to create Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Daredevil, She-Hulk and so many more. During our discussion, we lost our connection with John, but Cullen and Jerry continued the conversation about Lee and his impact on comics. Before we lost John, we did get his selection for Pick 3, for new books coming out next Wednesday, November 21. Be sure to get there and stock up on comics before the long holiday weekend. We speak from experience, so trust the WCPE guys and buy these books! We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. WCPE Episode 230 - Looking Ahead to January Books

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, we take a look at the new comics coming out in January 2019. Yes, 2019! It's coming up quicker than you realize. Sure, we have Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving and all of the December holidays to get through before January rolls around. That's why you need to start planning now for what you will be picking up in two months. We also have our Pick 3 choices for new books coming out next Wednesday, November 14. Cullen and John decided to make a guessing game for Jerry's pick. With knowing him for well over 30 years, you would think they would get the pick correct right away. Keep thinking that.... We wrap things up with some TV talk, as John finished up season 3 of Daredevil, plus keeping up with Titans. We would love to hear your comments on the show. WCPE Episode 229 - Magicians and Monsters and Mystery, Oh My!

As much as we love interviewing creators and reviewing books, I think the guys of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! enjoy just talking about our favorite characters. And since Halloween was earlier this week, that got us in the mood to talk about our favorite magicians, monsters and mysterious beings. Expect lots of Doctors (Strange, Fate, Doom) and Witches (Scarlet, Sabrina) and many more as we ramble across the comic book universes. On the off chance that we overlooked your favorite character, message us and let us know who we missed in our conversation. In addition, we have our Pick 3 selections, sponsored by the good people of Clint's Comics. For the first week of November, we have three #1 issues. Any guesses as to what we each picked? WCPE Episode 228 - How Many Takes Does It Take to Start a Show?

For this week, that answer is six or seven. But that should come as no surprise to the loyal listeners of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! See, we were down one co-host, as John was on the DL with a bum leg. You may not realize it, but leg injuries severely diminish a podcaster's ability to talk about comics. Jerry was on the DL for a month with his knee surgery last year, so it's a real thing. Never fear though, John is getting back to normal and should make a triumphant return next week. Then, Cullen and Jerry got a late start with recording. As you may have noticed with past episodes, the later we start, the loopier we get. It took multiple takes for us to get one that lives up to the high expectations for a WCPE episode. But once we got rolling, we like to think that we put together a really good episode. Really good! Seriously, this has to be one of the top.... oh, I don't know... let's just say it's in the top 228 for best episodes ever by the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! We do a deep dive into the Wal-Mart comics, exploring some of the business dealings that brought this deal together for DC Comics. We explore what works and what might work better for the 100-Page Giants. Cullen talks about a new book he recently received, DC Comics: Anatomy of a Metahuman. With illustrations from artist Ming Doyle, this coffee table book explores how some of the greatest characters in DC Comics work with their unique anatomical composition. it sounds crazy, but this is a beautiful looking book that you need to check out. We have our weekly Pick 3, which is sponsored by the good people at Clint's Comics in Kansas City. It's not often that this happens, but we all picked a title from DC Comics. (Seems like a lot of DC talk this week without John - he's going to be so jealous!) We look at a recent Entertainment Weekly ranking of the Marvel Netflix series. From Daredevil Season One to Daredevil Season Three, the 11 series are ranked. We offer up our commentary and make suggestions for a more-correct order, in our humble opinions. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or by email. WCPE Episode 227 - The Marla Gibbs Show!

In honor of the 227th episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, we spotlight the legendary career of actress Marla Gibbs, star of the 1980s TV comedy 227. From IMDb, "Armed with an acid dry wit and a full arsenal of sarcasm and sass, African-American character comedienne Marla Gibbs showed up on 70s TV with a bang in middle age (44). Landing the feisty maid role on the popular ground-breaking CBS comedy, The Jeffersons (1975), eventually led to her very own sitcom, 227 (1985), a decade later and international celebrity. A divorced mother with three children (Angela Elayne Gibbs, Dorian, Joseph) at the time of her initial success, it was a job transfer from Detroit to Los Angeles, while working as a United Airlines reservation clerk, that set up this more-than-welcome surprise and change of destiny." In addition to our career retrospective of Marla Gibbs, we take time to discuss: The first episode of Titans has hit the DC Universe streaming service. We have all watched the first episode, and are ready to share our opinions of what works (or doesn't) for this new take on the Titans legacy. With the focus on Titans, DC is introducing a new storyline in the pages of Nightwing that involves an identity change. Is this the best time for Dick to become Ric? We have our weekly Pick 3 of new books coming out next Wednesday? This week features one book from Archie Comics, and two books from DC Comics. Can you guess who made the Archie Comics pick? What's in the box? The new package of books has arrived from DCBS, and we crack it open to reveal what Jerry and John picked up for the first two weeks of October. We finish it up with some teasing talk about artist John Byrne possibly returning to Xavier's Academy for Gifted Youngsters to chronicle the continuing adventures of the X-Men. Color us interested! WCPE Episode 225 - Cave Con Wrap-Up

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, we bring you: Stories from our trip to Cave Con in Springfield, MO. We saw a lot of friends, both at tables and roaming the aisles. We bought a lot of comics, and saw some incredible original art. And we once again crossed paths with Ming Chen, who just loves our WCPE in Kansas City logo. We have read Heroes in Crisis #1 from DC Comics. There is a lot going on in this first issue, so we try to work through what we read, what we saw, and where we think things may be going. WCPE Episode 224 - Remembering Norm Breyfogle

Another Friday means another episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! - the longest-running lowest-rated show in our market. It really means a lot to the guys to have YOU coming back each week, so thank you! Unfortunately, we start out our show on a somber note, as we learned of the passing of artist Norm Breyfogle shortly before recording. Breyfogle was the premiere Batman artist throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. His distinct look of the Dark Knight is remembered fondly by his fans, which included us. His death reminds us to once again promote the Hero Initiative, which helped provide Breyfogle some assistance over the last two years. As always, we have our weekly Pick 3 for books coming out next Wednesday. We also go over some recent purchases and reads from our comic stacks. Finally, we dive into the ugly topic of #Comicsgate. Maybe you are aware, or maybe you are just finding out about this for the first time. We welcome your feedback on our discussion. If you are in the Springfield, Missouri, area this weekend, come see John and Jerry at Cave Con. We will be set up at Booth J in Artist Alley, and we look forward to saying Hi, giving hugs, and having fun with our tribe. We would love to hear your comments on the show. WCPE Episode 222 - Talking Cons and Comics

The cons have come and gone since we last got together to talk to you! Find out on this week's show what Cullen did and who he saw at Rose City Comic Con. Plus you'll hear about John and Jerry's trip to Free State Comicon and the longbox-filling stack of comics that one of them brought home. As if that wasn't enough talking, we have our Pick 3 for next week, highlighting a diverse set of books coming out on September 19. However, you know that we can't stop at just one each! For good measure, we throw in some more picks to be looking for when you visit your LCS on NCBD. We wrap things up with a look at the DC Comics that are available at your local Wal-Mart. A story earlier this week revealed two one-shots and two new titles being added to the line in the near future. WCPE Episode 221 - You're On Jerry's List

Welcome back, our friends, to the show that never ends. It's podcast time, and we are eager to start talking comics and movies and conventions! Let's start with the cons, as you will find Cullen at Rose City Comic Con this weekend in Portland, OR. While we are not manning a table this year, Cullen will be found in and around artist alley, looking to get a few more autographs in his 100 Cover Hero Initiative books. Check out our Instagram feed (@wcpever) for photos from the con, as well as our Facebook page for any videos from the con. Meanwhile, back in Kansas, expect to find John and Jerry at the Free State Comicon in Lawrence this Saturday. With it being a comic-focused show, the guys will be scouring every fifty cent box looking for the missing issues in their respective collections. Did you see the still images from the new Captain Marvel movie? YES! March cannot arrive soon enough. We are ready to see the big screen debut of Carol Danvers, as well as the return of Nick Fury, Agent Colson, and Ronan the Accuser. Speaking of movies, Jerry tests John and Cullen's skills with the top ten grossing comic book movies of all time. In theory, this sounds like an easy game. In reality, well...... John gives us the details of the new DC Universe streaming service. John got out the credit card over the weekend and signed up for the service that will be launching later this fall. While we don't know when it will be launching, rest assured you will be getting more updates on the new service. We would love to hear your comments on the show. WCPE Episode 219 - Talking Eisner, Venom, and Previews

Once again, the guys from the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! are back in the studios to talk comics! That's exactly what you are here to hear! Jerry visited the Kansas City Public Library last weekend to see the Will Eisner exhibit, which is a free show through Labor Day weekend. WCPE Episode 218 - Comparing Tanlines

It's time to say goodbye to summer 2018 (fingers crossed!) at the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! Jerry survived a vacation drive to south Texas and back with his family. The kids (and John) are returning to schools. And Cullen is fighting to survive the bad air of Portland and the lack of air conditioning. While on vacation, Jerry made several stops at comic book stores along the way, and recounts the good, the bad, and the unexpected shops he visited. He did his part to support the local economies at each store visit, too. We have our weekly Pick 3 from Clint's Comics, where we look at three books coming out next week that you should consider picking up. We kept things simple this week for you, with our #1, #2, and #3 picks sure to keep you entertained. Cullen shares news of an upcoming after-Con party the Friday night of Rose City Comic Con. Live music, tacos, and you get to support the Hero Initiative. You need to be there, Portland Peeps! We discuss John Byrne's visit to the Boston Comic Con, and the rumor that Marvel is trying to repair relations to bring back this legendary creator. We discuss what books we would love to see John Byrne take on at Marvel, but we would love to hear your thoughts too on this. Finally, we wrap things up going over some recent reads, including the new Fantastic Four #1 that came out last week. Despite the team not being together at all in the story, this was a good return of Marvel's First Family. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Jerry decided to head to Texas in August and left John and Cullen the keys to the recording studio! That means this may well be the final episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! If true, we've brought you a doozy! J and C had a great chat about books they've been reading along with some news from comics, TV, and movies. Is one of the X-Men really not a mutant? What will the addition of Batwoman do to the CW? Just how far will Jeff Lemire go with making The Terrifics like the Fantastic Four? We tackle those stories and more! WCPE Episode 216 - Fantastic Leviathans

Another week, another brand-spankin' new episode of what should be the award-winnin' Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! Our inbox has been flooded with inquiries as to how we have been spending our summer. Truth be told, it's mostly trying to avoid the heat, which that makes for a really good reason to read comics. Win-win!! Of course, we'll catch up on some TV shows. John's almost done with the most recent season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., while Jerry and Cullen have been watching Cloak and Dagger on ABC Family Freeform. Jerry also took his daughter to see Teen Titans Go to the Movies! last weekend. Any movie that includes the Challengers of the Unknown ix is worth a watch, people! Cullen has a new interview with artist Nick Pitarra whose new book Leviathan just came out this week. Cullen spoke to Nick earlier this year at Image Expo 2018, and has been eagerly awaiting for the release of this book. Go buy this book... after you finish listening to the podcast, of course. Speaking of books, we have our Pick 3 for next week. In addition, there are some midnight openings occurring next week with the release of Fantastic Four #1. We have some details for stores in Kansas City and Portland that will be opening the doors early (or late, depending on your perspective). We would love to hear your comments on the show. WCPE Episode 215 - Still Talking San Diego Comic Con

You know what's the best part about San Diego Comic Con? Is it the announcements? Or the trailers? Could it be the signings? What about the Eisners? While those are all worthy answers, the response we are looking for here is that the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! can get away with talking about the con for another week. By now, you've seen the Aquaman and Shazam! trailers. You looked over the list of Eisner winners. You may have read about the next round of Marvel series of Netflix. Just in case you missed any of that, we're going to go ahead and talk about it here. But it's not all SDCC. As always, we have our Pick 3 feature sponsored by Clint's Comics. We dive into what we have been reading lately. And Cullen shares about his death-defying climb up Mt. St. Helens. We would love to hear your comments on the show. WCPE Episode 213 - Remembering Steve Ditko

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!: John and Jerry are headed to O Comic Con today. They will be hosting multiple panels, looking for good deals on the show floor, and hanging out with so many of our friends. Find us in Podcast Alley at booth A-9. With a pre-recorded show last week, we didn't get a chance to reveal our Pick 3 for books that came out this week. Never fear, we have those picks for you this week, plus we have our picks for new books coming out on July 18. DC announced this week that G. Willow Wilson will become the new writer on Wonder Woman later this year. We discuss the impact that could have on the title and comics in general. We saw a new image this week from the Shazam movie! Looks like Billy Batson likes his cola drinks. We talk about the movie and the potential endorsements to be had. Jerry saw Ant-Man and the Wasp earlier this week, and shares some non-spoiler comments about the movie. (John saw it between the recording of the podcast and the release of the podcast, so feel free to ask him now his take on the movie!) Finally, we say goodbye to a comic legend. Comic creator Steve Ditko passed away last week at the age of 90. As the co-creator of Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, the Question, Hawk & Dove and so many others, Ditko's impact on comics will never be forgotten. John and Jerry share their thoughts on Ditko and his legacy. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. WCPE Episode 212 - Smallville Con Panel Highlights

This week, we are trying something new with the show. We have put together some audio highlights of our panels at Smallville Con last month. Of course, the highlight of the weekend had to be John hosting Superman himself, actor Dean Cain. Lots of super moments from that panel to look forward to in this week's podcast. In addition, we have some great moments with the panels from Eddie McClintock, Steven WIlliams and Corin Nemec. And before you ask, yes, we also did panels with David Nykl and Mindy Sterling. Unfortunately, the audio quality from those panels was a little rough. By the end of the day, we had figured out the sound system at Smallville, so next year will be even better. Now, we didn't get our Pick 3 selections made yet for new comics coming out next week, but check out social media feeds early next week to get our choices for what you should be picking up at your LCS on July 11. We are just two weeks away from the start of O Comic Con! This fourth-year con has become one of our favorites to attend, with great crowds, friendly guests, and corgis! To get the lowdown on OCC, we have invited Matt Fujan and Rebekah Brownfield to give us all of the details for the con coming up July 13-15. If you attend OCC, be sure to stop by Podcast Alley and find the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! If we are not at our table, we are probably hosting a panel or diving through the quarter boxes. We recount our panels - and be on the lookout next week for one of our super panels in the podcast feed. We have our PIck 3 choices for next Wednesday, brought to you by Clint's Comics in Kansas City. Now even though new comic book day falls on a national holiday, you should find your local shop open and filled with a bunch of wonderful new comics, including Batman #50, Captain America #1, Catwoman #1, and many more. We wrap things up taking a look at the DC Comics announcement of putting new 100-Page Giants into Wal-Mart stores any day now. As this podcast posts, John and Jerry will be traveling into central Kansas to visit Smallville Con for the weekend. You can find us at booth #42, or hosting one of our eight panels throughout the weekend. On today's show, we give you a rundown of the panels, with hints of what we may be asking the guests such as Dean Cain, David Nykl, and Stephen Williams. WCPE Episode 209 - DC News, Black Panther Variant Giveaway, and More Interviews!

Another busy week for the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! John is back from his European vacation, so the guys have a lot to catch up on over the last two weeks. Things have been busy at DC Comics in the last week. A tease over the weekend hinted at comic books being part of the DC Universe streaming service, which has the guys ready to get out their wallets. And earlier this week, Geoff Johns stepped down (or was forced out) as DC's Chief Creative Officer, only to be replaced by DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee. Listen in to get our take on the news items. Next, Cullen visited Comic Cave PDX over the weekend, where he met artist Tom Beland. Tom has done the spectacular art of the Black Panther #1 variant coming out next month. He was signing advance copies of the book, and even did a quick interview with Cullen to discuss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Cullen did get a copy of the Black Panther #1 variant, signed by Tom, and we are going to pass it along to one of you! To be entered into the drawing, you need to make a $5 minimum donation to the Hero Initiative. Send us proof of your donation by next Wednesday, June 20, 2018, to worstcomicpodcastever at gmail dot com to be entered. One lucky person will have the book sent to them, well before the actual release of the title. Cullen has two additional interviews that he conducted at the Image Expo earlier this spring. First is a conversation with creator Farel Dalrymple, whose new book is Proxima Centauri. Next is an interview with Jody Leheup and Nathan Fox for The Weatherman. Both of those titles are hitting the shelves soon! We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. It is almost time for the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! crew to make the trek to Smallville, KS! That's right, the childhood home town of Superman! Of course, we are making the visit to coincide with the fifth Smallville Con, taking place June 23 and 24 at the Kansas State Fair Grounds. WCPE Episode 207 - Where We Live Interview

Every now and then, a comic project comes along that is more powerful than the latest superhero crossover; more epic that sci-fi stories set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away; and more breathtaking that the latest adaption of a Hollywood blockbuster. These are comics based on real world events, intended to help bring together the community to help heal a painful wound. Such is the case with Where We Live, an anthology project from Image Comics. This book is a fundraiser for the victims and survivors of the Las Vegas shootings in 2017. Dozens of top comic creators have donated their stories and art to this project. Back at the Image Expo earlier this year, Cullen sat down with two of the creators, J.H. Williams III and Haden Blackman, to discuss the project and why this is so important to the comic community. In addition, we have movie talk, with the recent releases of Deadpool 2 and Solo. We share our mostly spoiler-free thoughts on the movies, but we give you a proper warning before we discuss that one scene in Solo. Yeah, you know which one we are talking about! We give our Pick 3 selections for next week. However, there are a lot of great comics coming out next week. We had a hard time talking about just one book each, so we share some other suggestions for books you should look to pick up on your visit to your LCS next Wednesday. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or by email. WCPE Episode 206 - Slurpees with SHAZAM!

It's a busy week in the WCPE recording studio, with so many things to talk about. Make yourself comfortable as we talk all things nerdy this week. First up is a look at #JLMay event, which has been running across a dozen other podcasts this month. Jerry sat down with friend-of-the-show Nicholas Prom to discuss the Silver Age event from DC Comics, specifically The Brave and the Bold issue. In addition, scroll down to the bottom of the show notes to get a complete listing of all of the shows involved in the crossover. Speaking of crossovers, we have our Pick 3 for next week, sponsored by Clint's Comics. Let's just say we went a little Looney with our picks. On with the show, this is it! WCPE Episode 204 - Cat And Mouse Kickstarter

Doing this podcast has given the WCPE guys the chance to meet and become friends with a lot of great creators over the years. So we get very excited when our friends have a new project they are launching, especially when it is through Kickstarter. Such is the case with writer Roland Mann. We spoke to Roland when he had his Tiny Kickstarter going, and that was a solid success. Roland is back with another Kickstarter, and he has rounded up some familiar faces from the Malibu Comics offices to make an all-new Cat & Mouse #1. Now, if Cat & Mouse sounds familiar, it was one of Roland's first comic works back in the early 1990s. And it's a series that people still ask him about to this day. So why not put a new spin on the concept with a brand new mini-series. The Kickstarter project covers the costs to print and publish issue #1. Given that this project is already funded, the team is starting to work ahead on issue #2. But just because the project is already funded does not mean you don't have to contribute. Listen to the show, see the samples on the Kickstarter page, and become a backer! Speaking of the creative team, joining us on the show this week with Roland is penciller Dean Zachary and inker Barb Kaalberg. (Colorist Kevin Gallegly was unable to join in on the fun, but we still want to give him a shout-out too!) It's a fun-filled hour talking about New Orleans, the comic collaboration process, and convention appearances later this year. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or by email. We want to hear from you! As always, we are the Worst. Comic. We give our insights into what made this movie work, and even how it could have been better. (Heads up in case things sound a little strange towards the end of this episode! WCPE Episode 202 - Trying on The Infinity Gauntlet

OK, the Gauntlet has been thrown! With the release of Avengers: Infinity War in theaters this weekend, the guys at the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! thought it would be appropriate to dive into the back issue boxes and re-read the classic mini-series from 1991, The Infinity Gauntlet. So much of what happens in the new Avengers movie gets its start with this story, so this is the perfect time to revisit one of Jim Starlin's epic tales, with a fine assist on art by the likes of George Perez and Ron Lim. In addition, we have our weekly Pick 3 for next week, sponsored by our good friends at Clint's Comics. It should come as no surprise that John picked a Superman book and Jerry picked the new Avengers book. But you never quite know what Cullen is going to pick. Listen in and find out! Speaking of picks, we also have drawn a name for the Action Comics #1000, signed by Brian Michael Bendis. Thank you to everyone that sent in their entry and their Superman story. Big congrats to fan Jeff Johnson - your comic is in the mail! We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. WCPE Episode 201 - Action Comics 1000

Over the years, comics have seen a lot of change. Characters die, and new characters are created. Heroes become villains, and vice versa. Titles are renumbered, rebooted, and sometimes replaced. But there has been one constant for 80 years. Action Comics, which celebrates the publication of it's 1000th issue this week! This is not your normal monthly release. This is Action Comics #1000! It doesn't get any bigger than this for Superman, DC Comics or comic fandom. With multiple stories from all-star creators, packaged with incredible covers representing all the different eras of the Man of Steel, this issue is a true reason to celebrate. And we did celebrate! In Kansas City, Jerry joined the super fans at a midnight opening at Clint's Comics. With an entire rack of the main book along with all of the variants, the books were flying off of the shelves left and right. A big thank you to Sharon, Keith, Jennifer and Eric for letting the KC comic community start their Superman celebration as soon as possible. In Oregon, Cullen helped host a Superman party at The Nerd Out, Portland's premier restaurant sure to appeal to all comic book fans. With trivia contests, prizes and even a Superman cake, Cullen helped lead the party as fans got ready for the midnight opening at Cosmic Monkey. At the store, Cullen helped fans find the book they were looking for, including some books that were autographed by soon-to-be-Superman-writer Brian Michael Bendis. Now, one of those Bendis-signed books came home with Cullen, but it's not going to stop there! We are going to pass that along to one of our listeners! Intrigued? All you have to do is share your Superman story with us! Let us know what part of the Superman mythos is most important to you. Is it the comics, the movies, the TV shows, or something else. Send your entry to worstcomicpodcastever @ gmail dot com by Wednesday, April 25, at 5 PM CT to be entered. We will go through the responses and pick at random one of the submissions to win this autographed book. Now, before you think this week's show is all Superman, listen up! We had so much fun last week talking about issue #200s, we're going to spend some time this week talking about a #201 issue. Specifically, Uncanny X-Men #201, where control of the X-Men is decided between a Danger Room fight between Cyclops and Storm. We also have our picks for next week for books you should be looking forward to picking up and reading. As a warning, Cullen has a Beef with this week's picks. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or by email. WCPE Episode 196 - Interview with Christopher Sebela

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, soon to be known as Cullen, Jerry, and John are Getting Old, we have for you: Cullen's interview with writer Christopher Sebela. Chris announced a few new projects at the Image Expo last month, so Cullen sat down with the Portland writer for a quick one-on-one. Be on the lookout this June for Shanghai Red, telling the brutal trip of a woman from Shanghai to Portland in the nineteenth century, and the revenge she dishes out along the way. Jerry and John give their take on The Terrifics #1 from DC Comics. Now don't go confusing this title with the Fantastic Four or even The Incredibles. This is a great debut issue, and we are excited to see where this title heads in the issues ahead. John had a chance to read The New Mutants: Dead Souls #1 from Marvel Comics. With the upcoming New Mutants movie hitting theaters later this year, it's only natural for Marvel to get some new product on the shelves ahead of time. John gives us his take on this new line-up of some familiar characters. We give you our Three Picks for next week - Marvel has a hulking new Weapon, Batman has a bad case of Poison Ivy, and we say goodbye to the Goddess of Thunder. WCPE Episode 195 - Fresh Look at Marvel's Fresh Start

Hey everybody! It's time for yet another episode of the award-winning* Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! This week, we our our own fresh takes on Marvel's Fresh Start books coming out beginning in May. Some books are in the must-read list, while others are in the wait until the library gets the collected edition category. We make our picks for next week, which is sponsored by the good people of Clint's Comics. Do yourself a favor and get down to this store now! We also throw in an extra three picks of books that we find intriguing enough to flip through when we are at the store next week. Finally, we get into a nerdy debate over a hypothetical JLAvengers 2 crossover. If the two powerhouse teams of DC and Marvel were to meet again, who would you like to see on the creative team. Obviously, the bar has been set high by Kurt Busiek and George Perez, so who could step into those shoes and carry the concept forward? We have our choices. We could tell you here, but we really want you to listen to the podcast. Here's a tease though -- Cullen did not pick anyone that was dead! (Callback to Episode 33!) * You may be asking what award did these guys win. That's a very good question, for which we don't have an answer yet. We ask ourselves each week why we haven't won an award. Or at least a podcast participation trophy. Seriously, 195 episodes in and still nothing in the trophy cabinet. Get to work, loyal listeners! WCPE Episode 194 - Black Panther and Con Recaps

Sooooo, seen any good movies lately? We are here to sing the praises of Black Panther! This is the new standard for all comic-book movies - a beautiful, well-acted film which left the audience thinking and talking and going back to see it again and again. By our humble estimation, the only thing that could have made this movie better was finding a way to include Nicholas Cage into this soon-to-be masterpiece. But before we can talk about the movie, we have some con recaps to share with you. We have finally rested up after the epic 2018 Planet Comicon, and have all kinds of stories to share with you. The panels, our friends, and most importantly our work for the Hero Initiative. If you haven't seen our Facebook post, we did some incredible things for this worthwhile cause, so thank you Kansas City! In addition, Cullen attended the Image Comics Expo in Portland last week, followed by the Hillsboro Library Comicfest. At the Image Expo, Cullen played the part of mild-mannered reporter for an upstart podcast, giving him the chance to talk to some of the comic creators promoting new projects coming out at Image in 2018. First up this week will be writer Robert Kirkman, whose new title Oblivion hits comic book stores next Wednesday. We would love to hear your comments on the show. WCPE Episode 192 - Countdown to Planet Comicon!

Happy Comicon Eve, Kansas City! We are a day early this week, so consider yourself the lucky winner! We've got a lot to do ahead of the start of the show tomorrow, so we are going to get things going with the podcast today! Before we can get into Planet Comicon, we've got to wrap things up with Cullen's recap of I Like Comic Con last weekend in Vancouver, WA. Raising money for the Hero Initiative, hanging out with the likes of Jim Steranko and Neal Adams, and seeing familiar friends - it doesn't get much better than that! Of course, the next party starts tomorrow at Bartle Hall in Kansas City. You can find the WCPE guys manning the Hero Initiative table at #1030. Next to us will be comic creator Ty Templeton at #1032. He will be signing books, sketching characters and telling stories all weekend long. Please stop by our tables to say, receive hugs, and help us raise some money for an awesome cause. Now, hopefully everyone has 1:00 Sunday afternoon blocked out on your calendars to attend the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! panel. Another live recording of a podcast. We'll play a game, answer questions, and give away some prizes. We want to fill the room, so help us out. We still have some time to fill this week, so we dive into the ComicsGate controversy. This is becoming a big issue, and we share our opinions of the situation. Plus, Jerry shares the thrill of winning an online auction for a treasured comic! We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or by email. WCPE Episode 191 - Interview with Ron Randall

If you've read any comic books over the last 30 years, odds are you have read a Ron Randall issue or two along the way. From Conqueror of the Barren Earth to Justice League International to Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and most recently Future Quest, Ron's pencils and stories have covered every possible genre there is. But the one book he is most associated with is his own creation, Trekker, which is the ongoing adventures of bounty hunter Mercy St. Clair. Since the late 1980s, Ron has been telling Mercy's story at Dark Horse Comics. Ron has a new set of Trekker stories to get out, and he has a Kickstarter launching on February 20 to make that happen. The work is done; the Kickstarter is to cover the publishing costs, so you will see the finished product if you support this initiative. Check back in here in two weeks, and we will have a link to the Kickstarter. In the meantime, check out Ron Randall's website to see all of the different projects he's worked on, and where you can sample Trekker before you buy it. And you will buy it, trust us! In addition, if you are in the Portland area this weekend, you will find Ron set up at I Like Comic Con. Not only will Ron be set up there in a jam-packed artist alley, but you will also find Cullen there representing the Hero Initiative. We would love to hear your comments on the show.
