WORST. COMIC. PODCAST. EVER!

While Cullen was slowly melting away in Hot Portland, John and Jerry were chilling with milkshakes in Comfortable Kansas City at our weekly recording of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! We lead off the show talking about the #MakeMineMilkshakes story from over the weekend. People, apparently some of you need a reminder. You must use Twitter and Facebook and other social media for good things. Don't be a troll. Don't harass people. (Unless it is Nicholas Cage, in which we would like to remind him that the open invite to our podcast is still good.) Next up is a look at two recent reads from John's pile of new books. We start with CalExit from Black Mask Studios, which imagines a world where the major cities in California split from the state following an unpopular election. So ask yourself, is this real or fiction? Next is Dark Days: The Casting from DC Comics, which brings us one step closer to the Metal event this fall. Finally, we reach the penultimate point of our AvX summer reading. Characters die, relationships are damaged, and the story just keeps on going. But we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Welcome to our summer of 2017 clips show. Unlike other shows, we are giving you fresh clips vs. recycling old clips from past shows. First up has John visiting the Illustration Academy in Kansas City two weeks ago. After sitting in on some classes, John interviewed artist Vanesa del Rey and concept artist Wesley Burt. Next, Jerry sat down with some comic book artists back at Smallville Comic Con. To start, X-Men: Gold artist Ken Lashley talks about his time in Smallville and the hubbub around his current assignment. Jerry moved across the aisle to speak to artist Kevin Nowlan, who has done a little bit of everything over his 35-year career in comics. Finally, we did speak to some of our friends at Free Comic Book Day back in May at Clint's Comics. John starts by speaking to Mikayla Carson, Miss City of Fountains in the Miss Missouri program. Mikayla is a comic fan as well as an outstanding ambassador for Kansas City. John then speaks to artist Steve Daniels, a KC artist who is also a regular behind the counter at Clint's Comics. Welcome to the first of two podcasts this week. We take a week off, and you get more content. How does that math work out? First up is John's interview with actress Allison Arngrim from O Comic Con. Alison is most well known for playing Nellie on Little House on the Prairie. John hosted one of her panels at OCC and sat down with her later to chat one-on-one. Next is Jerry's interview with actor Erick Avari from Smallville Comic Con. Erick has been in dozens of movies and TV shows, from Seinfeld to The West Wing and from Independence Day to Stargate. Like all good actors, he longs for the opportunity to play King Lear on stage. Jerry sits down to discuss his career, driving the country, and Ben's Bells. Finally, John interviews actor Alain Chanoine from the Smallville Comic Con. Alain was most recently seen as the Incubus in Suicide Squad.
