I laugh but it's scary how popular it's becoming.Thirdly, (37:50) The Government recently announced that they're raising the price for plastic bags from 5p to 10p. An article on microplastics proves that incremental changes such as raising the prices of plastic bags are nowhere near enough.Lastly, (50:40) An amazing video essay on Media Bias got me thinking about my own Media Bias and how it's displayed to you on this very show.Thank you for listening! They both are examples of how easy it is to co-opt an identity. In the case of Jessica Krug, the identity of a non-white person. For the IG meme page "Daquan", which has recently sold for $85 Million, the identity of the Canadian-Ethiopian founder, even though the page is now owned by Warner Music. In the first of two Film/TV segments: (21:41) Black British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir has recently gotten roles to portray not just Barack Obama, but Malcolm X. As you can imagine, the African-American/Black British diaspora argument was reignited again. Ben-Adir felt the need to talk about it and garnered a detailed response from a respected vet, Wendell Pierce. In the second Film/TV segment: (39:39) The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science (The people who do The Oscars) recently dropped new diversity/inclusion requirements for any film that wants to get nominated. I used a wonderful write-up by Kelley Carter of The Undefeated to kick-start my thoughts on him.In Film/TV: (32:01) The Daily (Social Distancing) Show has been bolstered in many ways by the pandemic. It's one of the few shows to thrive in it. And the risks outside gave way for some risks to be taken inside. In Sports: (42:42) The Milwaukee Bucks triggered nationwide boycotts last week by refusing to play their Playoff game against the Orlando Magic in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake. It's worth thinking how far American sports stars of today are going, and how far they're willing to go...
