Three Geeky Dads

Tito has another good one for us to talk about and this time, it's Strange Days, the 1995 sci-fi action thriller starring Ralph Feins, Angela Bassett and Juliette Lewis. Co-written and produced by, non other than, James Cameron and Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the film is set in the last two days of 1999 and follows the story of Lenny, a black marketeer of recordings that allow a user to experience the recorder's memories and physical sensations as he attempts to uncover the truth behind the murder of a prostitute.

Tito continues to wow us with his picks for movies for us to talk about this month as, this week, he has us look at the 2011 Indonesian action film, The Raid: Redemption!

Happy New Year everyone! It's January and that marks one whole year since we brought Tito on board to join us full-time on the podcast! To honor that fact, we're letting Tito curate what we talk about for the whole month! This week, to kick it all off, Tito has chosen for us one of his very favorite movies since he was a kid, Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon an urban, hip-hop, action-comedy martial arts film that just drips the 1980s from every frame! It's Christmas and that means it's time for our annual Drink 'Til It's Good holiday episode. We were thinking of doing a Christmas horror movie (like we usually do) but, as it was pointed out, we've done a LOT of horror episodes lately so, jokingly, we thought, why not tackle a cheesy holiday TV special. Hence, this year's offering is the most recent Dolly Parton Holiday Special, Dolly Parton's Mountain Magic Christmas!

It's a very special Three Geeky Dads Holiday Special!!! When Geek Dad, Derek is having a hard time getting into the Christmas Spirit, he finds himself visited by three sprits who try to show him what the holidays are all about...but, will they succeed?!? Featuring (the bad impressions of) Michael Caine, Wilford Brimley and Sean Connery, this special episode is sure to put even the Scroogiest of Scrooges in the holiday spirit!

Tonight, by request, we will be looking at the 1995 horror anthology Tales From The Hood! Writer/actor/director Rusty Cundieff delivers four short horror stories based on problems that affect the African-American community such as police corruption, domestic abuse, racism, and gang violence, all told to three drug dealers trying to buy some drugs from a very eccentric funeral director!

This week, we also have a new ESCAPE POD episode for you! This time, on Marc and Dean's Double Feature, they talk all about the 1970's made-for-TV movies Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and Kolchak: The Night Stalker! Listen in to find out what Marc and Dean thought of these two TV horror classics!

This week, by request, we're going to be talking about the 1982 horror classic, Poltergeist. Directed by Tobe Hooper and written and produced by Stephen Spielberg, this movie had just as many scary things going on behind the scenes as ended up on the screen!

Thanksgiving may be over for another year but, we're still in the mood for giving thanks to all of our great listeners who've made requests for episodes! For this week's episode, we were asked by our good friend (and fellow podcaster) Marco Mazzola from the Entertainment Rants Podcast. Halloween may be over but, with Thanksgiving coming up soon, this whole month is dedicated to you, our fans and loyal listeners who've asked us to record special episodes. Yes, we're giving thanks to all of you by taking your requests and giving you what you asked for! First up, by request, is The Goonies. The 1986 adventure film written by Christopher Colombus, directed by Richard Donner and produced by Stephen Spielberg. Add to that pedigree an amazingly talented cast and it's one helluva ride!

It's Halloween and we have a tradition of watching a Halloween movie on this, the spookiest of nights! This time, we're watching the direct sequel to John Carpenter's Halloween...1981's Halloween II again starring Jaimie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode! This is the little horrormovie that struggled to see the light of day, it was made in 2006 and then shelved by the studio only to see it unceremoniously dropped as a direct-to-video release in 2009. Since then, it's gained quite a following, growing in popularity year after year as more and more horror lovers discover this clever horror anthology...including we Geeky Dads as it's become a favorite to watch at this (or any time of year)!

First, in this episode, we're taking a look at Halloween Ends, the final entry in the new Halloween Trilogy by director David Gordon Green BUT after that, we're bringing you the main event! We're pitting two of everyone's favorite horror franchises against each other as Camp Crystal Lake invades Elm Street! Satanic rituals, demonic possession, car chases, devils, demons and even a little time travel, this movie has it all!!! Tonight, we take a look at our second Hammer film in our annual series leading up to Halloween. This time, it's the 1968 cult classic, The Devil Rides Out starring Christopher Lee and Charles Gray.

Everyone's favorite blood-sucking count is killed by Van Helsing in 1872 and gets revived 100 years later where he seeks to get revenge on Van Helsing's descendants. Does Dracula prevail in taking over modern day London? Tune in to find out what the Dad's thought of this cult favorite!

HULU dropped an all-new entry in the Predator franchise. Set 300 years ago, it tells the story of a young Comanche woman, a fierce and highly skilled warrior, named Naru, who fights to protect her tribe against the first of the highly-evolved alien Predators to land and hunt on Earth. Tonight, the Dads discuss this latest entry in the Predator franchise...find out what they thought and how this new movie stacks up against the other Predator films!!!

Vampires have been around for ages and some still look good after all those years. Case in point, the vampires from both of the movies we look at tonight hold up pretty well for their age as do their respective movies. Over 35 years later, Lost Boys and Fright Night still both hold up as modern vampire classics! Listen in and out what the Dads think of both films!

After an unplanned two-week summer break, the Three Geeky Dads are back, playing catch-up once more. This week, we will finally be looking at the Disney+ mini-series, Obi Wan Kenobi. Once upon a time, believe it or not, Marvel was the company that was struggling and DC was ruling the box office! Tonight, we Geeky Dads, along with friend and fellow podcaster Marco Mazolla, host of the Entertainment Rants Podcast, take a look at 1990's crap-tastic, Captain America!

Morbius is a tragic anti-hero from the pages of MARVEL comics that, unfortunately, will probably never get the treatment the character deserves because SONY owns the rights and is intent on setting up every Spidey villain for their version of the Sinister Six. Before that happens, though, SONY is going to shove origin stories down our throats where all of these Spider-Man villains do not fight Spider-man! Tonight, we weigh in on Morbius. All of the Geeky Dads have FINALLY seen the newest entry in the every growing MCU...Doctor Strange And The Multiverse of Madness! It's a superhero horror tale directed by the great Sam Raimi (a favorite of ours) so we all had high expectations going in to this one. Did it live up to the hype and our own collective head-canon? Listen in, and find out what we thought!

Well, our month of looking at bad 4th movies in a franchise is just about at an end. To wrap it all up, we take a look at the 4th installment no one was asking for (but the studio gave it to us anyway), Lethal Weapon 4. Listen in and find out what the Dads thought of this one...or don't! "Whatever, whatever!!!"

Pinhead...in space! Actually, the story does not all take place in space, most of it takes place in the past as we follow the story of an 18th century toy maker who creates the puzzle box that can open a gateway to hell. We then fast forward to the 22nd century where his descendent (Bloodline...get it) is obsessed with creating a device that will close the gateway to hell, once and for all! Did we hate it? Listen in and find out...the answer may just surprise you!

Director Josh Trank, hot off of his indy superhero film, Chronicle, was tapped to direct Fox's latest attempt to hang onto the rights of Marvel's Fantastic Four characters! It seemed like a no-brainer as his Chronicle movie was similar to FF in many respects, a small group of friends accidentally encounter alien material that grants them fantastic abilities...some use their new powers for good and some for evil. Sound familiar??? Somehow, it all went south...this movie is a mess and all the booze in the world could not make it any better!

This one was a tough one...it was the first of 2 made for TV Ewok movies and it took a LOT of alcohol to get through. It plot moves at a snail's pace, the human characters are annoying and hard to cheer for which makes the movie is a chore to watch! 15 years ago, the second in Edgar Wright's unofficial "Blood And Ice Cream" or Cornetto (3 Flavours) Trilogy, was released on an unsuspecting public. Following the story of Sgt. Nick Angel as he is transferred from London to the seemingly sleepy little village of Sandford. He is paired with Danny Butterman, who endlessly questions him on his big city cop lifestyle. Everything seems quiet for Angel until a string of grisly murders grips the town! Find out what the dads thought of this buddy-cop homage/parody action-comedy!

At a loss for what to do for our latest episode, we decided that we'd take a look at a random horror movie available to rent on AMAZON Prime Video. That movie was A24's "X" a film that follows a cast and crew who gather to make a porno film on an elderly couple's rural Texas property, but find themselves threatened by a killer. Tune in and find out what we liked and didn't like about "X"!

We, here, at Three Geeky Dads love a good horror comedy, we're also big fans of the Foo Fighters so, when we found out that they had made a secret horror movie, we couldn't wait to check it out. Well, this week, we finally got the chance to watch it...find out what we thought of this Hard-rock horror comedy!!!

Tonight the Three Geeky Dads are joined by yet another Geeky Dad. All the way from New York, we were joined by Raphael Moran (who hosts the Geeky Dad Podcast and the Geeky Dad After Dark Podcast) and he helped us to talk up the Disney Plus mini-series, The Book Of Boba Fett!

James Gunn is a on a roll...after being unceremoniously terminated by Disney for Tweets he made a decade ago, he was hired by the good folks over at Warner Brothers to helm their re-boot of the Suicide Squad which was released last year to great acclaim. Now, he's back with his spin off TV series for HBO Max, featuring John Cena returning as the titular Peacemaker in this hilariously violent yet heartfelt and off-beat show!

Our quest is at an end...the final episode in our Fantasy February series is here! In this episode, we take a look at 1987's Masters Of The Universe, a movie based on the popular cartoon series that, itself, was based on the ultra-popular Matel toy line! However, it didn't take place in Eternia, there was no Battle-cat, no Castle Greyskull and no sword of power but, what it did have was a generic, any-town USA setting, Courtney Cox, Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella and the rest of the cast trying their hardest to make a decent movie out of what they had to work with. That's why we gave this one the old "Drink 'Til It's Good!" treatment! Did the alcohol help us get through this one? Tune in and find out!!!

The Dads' quest is almost at an end but, before it does, they have to detour through the hedge maze and past the bog of eternal stench to reach the castle at the center of the goblin city! This week, the Dads take a look at the fan favorite fantasy film LABYRINTH starring David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly and a whole host of muppets!
