Ep 33Choose happiness

Amanda Webster suffered trauma after trauma in her younger years which led to some serious mindset and emotional challenges. Years of therapy, prescriptions, journaling, Yoga and self-help books still left her struggling with unmanageable clinical depression that she masked with drugs, alcohol and self-harm. It got to the point where she stood on the window ledge of a foreign hotel room, ready to end her life. Fate stepped in, by way of a song, and moved her to step off that ledge and choose to give life and happiness one more chance. It took a careful and mindful combination of nutrition, fitness and lifestyle changes, but she overcame depression and suicide on her own terms. She found the answers to help her choose happiness, despite the tragedy in her life, and consequently she went on to develop her five puzzle pieces to boost happiness. She has helped countless others make sustainable changes that have drastically improved their mental and physical health and, thus, their lives. It is Amanda's personal mission to help as many people as possible, whether they’ve tried everything else and are feeling lost and defeated, or simply want to reach their highest potential of happiness and self-fulfilment. Ep 25You can't lose

From a young age and with the DNA to achieve, Nick Bracks pushed his body and mind to the limit. At the age of 11, he was training 5 or 6 hour per day, in secret, as he aspired to be the best of the best in the sporting world. This constant need to compare, compete, drive and push himself led him to anxiety, depression and ultimately alcohol related issues. He knew that if something didn't change, his life would be cut short. So, with the support of his parents and trained professionals, Nick began to work through his issues. He says; "Really, my whole 20s were about trying things, failing, learning and searching for what I wanted to do with the rest of my life… that came with a lot of turmoil, but if I hadn’t gone and tried so many things and made mistakes I wouldn’t have found the things I am passionate about, I wouldn’t have found the path I am on now."Nick has now found his purpose and spends his time advocating for mind wellness. Nick’s passion for changing mindsets, and finding the good in every situation, has led him to conversations with CEOs, school kids – anyone willing to listen – advocating for the cause closest to his heart: mental health awareness. He worked in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years, presenting to more than half a million people in 55 countries on behalf of companies and sponsors including Nike. Regardless of his achievements, he had recurring questions about what life was going to be like for him at 50, or even 60 and beyond. What would his future look like?Greg’s not sure what happened when he turned 40. It wasn’t a mid-life crisis, because there was no crisis, he just thought, “enough”. He took everything he had learnt from his work, travels and the extraordinary people he’d met and decided to act. His speaking, workshops, coaching and programs are the result. Ep 19Embrace your uniqueness

I have known Natalie Matthews for more than five years, and the thing that stood out to me most, when I met for the first time, was the confidence this lady exuded as she towered above most people in her six foot three inch body and her three inch heels! She has always loved her height and the resulting benefits she has experienced in her life. The only challenge for her, and for many tall women, was finding beautiful clothes to wear.As a result, she learned how to sew at a young age and started making her own clothes. Heart-broken by the many stories of tall women who hated their height and had very poor self-image, she launched the brand Height of Fashion, with the goal of helping women all around the world, find beautiful clothes that would fit, embrace their uniqueness, and love their height. It is through this brand that Natalie is making a positive impact on many lives.Natalie shares her inspiring story, and her vision to help people all around the world, love themselves for who they are, embrace their differences and to live the life they are destined to live. Ep 18Making lives better

In the last year of my professional football career at the St Kilda Football Club, in 1987, a young fresh-faced kid began his own. In fact, the only thing that has changed is his desire to make a positive difference in the lives of as many people as he can. He lives by a quote, he credits to Will Smith, which says, 'If you're not making someone else's life better, you are wasting your own.' With that in mind, he is a coach for young female footballers, a consultant working in the team-building and leadership space, is an inspirational speaker in schools and companies, and with his wife, has set up a page on facebook called, 'The Thankful Plan.'Nathan shares his inspiring story of success as an elite athlete. Ep 17Tap into your inner gold

The moment I started my conversation with Carol Cooke, I knew it was going to be an inspiring and compelling one. Her courage, her persistence, and her self-proclaimed stubbornness kept her going from one setback to the next until she finally overcame her many challenges to win her first para-olympic gold medal for Australia in 2012 after 41 years of trying, at the age of 50 years.Starting with a dream to be a gymnast at the age of 9, she was told she could never make it happen. As a swimmer, she set the goal for the Moscow Olympics in 1980, when Canada and much of the world boycotted those games. Moving to Australia, being diagnosed with MS and told that she would never compete as an athlete again. The courage to get up and find rowing, but was unable to make it to the Olympics in that sport, Then finally, with no experience on a bike, she finally made her dreams come true in the 2012 para-olympics.Carol is the most inspiring example of the power of inner strength I have ever met. Her attitude, as she navigated the challenges in her life, over 41 years to achieve the external gold medal, is a testament to the inner gold that she tapped into and drew strength from, day after day after day. She is humble, passionate, engaging, hilarious and inspiring and this is a podcast you do not want to miss.Carol can be found on her website at www.carolcooke.com.auI want to thank the team at BestBeing for sponsoring this podcast. they can be found at www.bestbeing.com .My website is www.andrewjobling.com.au

Ep 11Kindness matters

I met Brad McEwan when he was in his 20's and just starting out in his media career. He was a fresh faced kid working on radio, and became a personal training client of mine back in 1999. The first time I met him, I knew he was destined for big things, and we have been good friends ever since, as I watched him rise through the ranks to become a well-known and much-loved Australian media personality.Like everyone, Brad has faced challenges in life and he has faced them with a wonderful attitude and decision, no matter the circumstances, to find the positive and treat people with kindness. His initial experience with mental health trauma happened when he tragically lost both his Dad and his brother to suicide. As the demands of a fulltime media career started to take their toll, Brad decided to take a leap of faith and totally change his direction to be at a place, right now, where he is loving life and living on-purpose.Brad is a great story teller and, with passion and enthusiasm, talks about the experiences of his journey that have led him to this point where he can say, with no fear of contradiction, that if living a happy and healthy life of joyful longevity is the goal, kindness really does matter.Brad can be contacted through his website - click hereI want to thank the team at BestBeing for sponsoring this podcast. they can be found at www.bestbeing.com .My website is www.andrewjobling.com.au

Ep 10Getting through the mud and the muck

I met Morgan Beard very recently through Fernando Parnes, founder of BestBeing and sponsor of this podcast. Morgan I chatted, we spoke together on a wellness panel and I was immediately impressed and engaged by this 30 years old dynamo. Listening to her wisdom, you would certainly not expect someone so young in years. As you listen to Morgan's maturity, it's hard to imagine she has been through so much torment, torture, suffering, depression and suicidal thoughts as she has. She gets raw and vulnerable as she tells the story of how she plummeted into such a dark place. You will be inspired beyond belief as she tells how show dragged herself out of, as she describes it, the mud and the muck, to the place of abundance, joy, success and gratitude she finds herself today. If you are a parent, you really need to listen to this podcast. If you are someone suffering, or know someone suffering, from depression or dark thoughts you need to listen to this podcast. If you want to hear Morgan singing, you need to listen to this podcast. If you are someone wanting to live your best life, you definitely need to listen to this podcast. What I'm saying is... this is a podcast you do not want to miss.Morgan can be contacted through www.morganbeard.coachHer instagram account is mo_beazyI want to thank the team at BestBeing for sponsoring this podcast. they can be found at www.bestbeing.com .My website is www.andrewjobling.com.au
