Reading Acts 21 for Saturday, September 30th. Paul went to Jerusalem and the people rioted.

Reading Acts 20 for Friday, September 29th. Paul raises a young man from the dead who fell out of a three story window, and then visits the Ephesians knowing that this is the last time they will see his face.

Reading Acts 19 for Thursday, September 28th. Paul baptizes some disciples who didn’t know that there was a holy spirit. Then the people of Ephesus started to riot because their goddess and their industries were threatened by Paul’s preaching.

Reading Acts 18 for Wednesday, September 27th. God encouraged Paul to keep on speaking and not to be afraid. As Christians, we can be encouraged by that same word.

Reading Acts 17 for Tuesday, September 26th. Paul went around reasoning with Jewish people in the synagogues each Sabbath day, but some people didn’t like that and tried to get him thrown in jail.

Reading Deuteronomy 20 for Monday, September 25th. Fearful soldiers should not engage in battle because they might make the other soldiers become afraid.

Reading Deuteronomy 19 for Friday, September 22nd. God calls for the establishment of three cities of refuge, or six if their city grows too large for three. Malicious witnesses will be punished severely.

Reading Deuteronomy 18 for Thursday, September 21st. There is an easy test to find out if a prophet has gone rogue.

Reading Deuteronomy 17 for Wednesday, September 20th. Don’t offer defective sacrifices, don’t worship other things, and any new king should not have excessive wealth or wives, and have a copy of the law and be aligned with it himself.

Reading Deuteronomy 16 for Tuesday, September 19th. God has a place where the Passover and other observances should happen. He also wants to be worshipped without any other gods acknowledged beside His altar.

Reading Deuteronomy 15 for Monday, September 18th. A year for canceling debts is established by God.

Reading Deuteronomy 14 for Saturday, September 16th. God gave the Israelites special rules about what they could eat, and what they could not eat. He also told them how to tithe.

Reading Deuteronomy 13 for Friday, September 15th. God explains to the Israelites that there is no room for the worship of other gods among his people, and the penalty is death.

Reading Deuteronomy 12 for Thursday, September 14th. God asks His people not to take on new worship practices from the nations that they take over and possess. Also, they should not eat blood, but should only pour it onto the ground.

Reading Deuteronomy 11 for Wednesday, September 13th. God wants His people to love and to trust Him, not forgetting His promises to bless them when they obey and curse them when they forget or turn away from Him.

Reading Deuteronomy 10 for Tuesday, September 12th. Moses made two more tablets and a wooden chest as God instructed, and then God wrote the Ten Commandments on them with his finger.

Reading Deuteronomy 9 for Monday, September 11th. All of the land and blessings given to the Israelites have nothing to do with their own righteousness.

Reading Deuteronomy 8 for Saturday, September 9th. God gives you the ability to produce wealth, so don’t think too highly of yourself.

Reading Deuteronomy 7 for Friday, September 8th. God wants His children to detest even the silver and gold used to make the images of other gods.

Reading Deuteronomy 6 for Thursday, September 7th. God wants His children to teach the law to their children too.

Reading Deuteronomy 5 for Wednesday, September 6th. Moses reminded the Israelites about the 10 Commandments and how they promised to obey them.

Reading Deuteronomy 4 for Tuesday, September 5th. Moses reminded the Israelites to obey God’s commands, to not make or worship idols, to teach these commands to their children, and to just keep doing the right thing.

Reading Deuteronomy 3 for Monday, September 4th. Moses was not allowed to cross over the Jordan but he was allowed to look around and to commission and equip Joshua to continue the work he had done. God said He would fight the battles for the Israelites and give them victory.

Reading Deuteronomy 2 for Saturday, September 2nd. The Israelites wandered around the desert until the last of the fighting men died as God had planned. God also told them who to avoid having war with and from who to go to war with, and acquire land from.

Reading Deuteronomy 1 for Friday, September 1st. Moses explains Israel’s recent history and their fearful and arrogant rebellion, as well as God’s instructions for when they should leave Horeb.

Reading Acts 16 for Thursday, August 31st. Paul and Silas were joined by Timothy. They were put into prison after removing an evil spirit from a slave girl who was also a fortune teller. Even in prison the mission continued effectively.

Reading Acts 15 for Wednesday, August 30th. Some believers thought that believing Gentiles had to be circumcised as well as Jews, and Paul and Barnabas disagreed about whether or not to allow John (also called Mark) to come with them on the mission, because of his previous desertion.

Reading Acts 14 for Tuesday, August 29th. Paul and Barnabas continued in the ministry to several towns, even being stoned to near death, then returning again to preach some more. They also appointed some new elders and churches where the newest disciples were.

Reading Acts 13 for Monday, August 28th. Paul and Barnabas shared the good news with the Jews, and then also the Gentiles after many of the Jews rejected it.

Reading Acts 12 for Friday, August 25th. Peter is removed from prison by an angel and Herod is struck dead for receiving worship meant only for God.

Reading Numbers 36 for Thursday, August 24th. Zelophehad’s daughters could only marry men within their own tribe.

Reading Numbers 35 for Wednesday, August 23rd. Lines are drawn for the development of towns and pasturelands, and cities of refuge are delineated for accidental killers to flee to to avoid vengeance.

Reading Numbers 34 for Tuesday, August 22nd. The boundaries are defined for Canaan and a list of people are designated to help define allotments for each of the nine and a half tribes that have not already gotten their inheritance on the other side of the Jordan.

Reading Numbers 33 for Monday, August 21st. God led His people through many towns, and warned them not to allow idols and inhabitants to remain there in the promised land.

Reading Numbers 31 for Thursday, August 17th. God told the Israelites to attack and plunder the Midianites, taking no prisoners, except for some young women who had not slept with a man.

Reading Numbers 30 for Wednesday, August 16th. In Israel, Vows and oaths are only binding for women if their husband or father does not object when he hears about it. Widows and divorced women are bound by their word.

Reading Numbers 29 for Tuesday, August 15th. God wanted lots of sacrifices for different events on the calendar.

Reading Numbers 28 for Monday, August 14th. God tells Moses to instruct the people specifically how they are to present offerings to Him daily and monthly and to observe the Sabbath, the Passover, and have a sacred assembly for the feast of weeks.

Reading Numbers 27 for Friday, August 11th. Zelophehad's daughters brought up their predicament that their father would lose out on an inheritance because he had only daughters, so God allowed daughters to receive inheritances as well for this scenario, and other relatives when there are no daughters to inherit land.

Reading Numbers 26 for Thursday, August 10th. Another census is taken and the land is divided and given in proportion to the names counted.

Reading Numbers 25 for Wednesday, August 9th. Moabite women seduced Israelite men, and influenced them to engage in Baal worship and inciting God’s anger until Phinehas killed an Israelite man and a Midianite woman with a single spear thrust, ending the plague which killed 24,000.

Reading Numbers 24 for Tuesday, August 8th. Balak was disappointed that Balaam would not curse Israel for him. Balaam only spoke as God directed.

Reading Numbers 23 for Monday, August 7th. Balak keeps trying to get Balaam to curse the Israelites. Three separate places have sacrifices prepared, seven at a time.

Reading Numbers 22 for Saturday, August 5th. Balak requests that Balaam come and meet with him, to curse Israel. Balaam’s donkey has more insight about the risks involved in straying from God’s will than Balaam does, initially.

Reading Numbers 21 for Friday, August 4th. God gave Israel victory in their battles, but He also sent poisonous snakes when they started to complain against Him or Moses.

Reading Numbers 20 for Thursday, August 3rd. Moses disappointed God by striking the rock twice, but God asked him to speak to the rock for it to produce water. Edom wouldn’t let Israel pass through their territory peacefully. Aaron died on top of a mountain and his son succeeded him as priest.
