Reading Romans 9 for Friday, December 29th. Don’t stumble on the law and miss the point. Trust in God and receive God’s mercy. Do not judge God, your creator, but be thankful that you were not created to be subject of His wrath to display His immense power.

Reading Romans 8 for Thursday, December 28th. We live through the Spirit of God, and since Jesus himself intercedes for us on God’s behalf, nothing can separate us from God‘s love.

Reading Romans 7 for Wednesday, December 27th. The law of sin and death at work within the members of one’s own body is battling the pursuit of righteousness in one’s mind.

Reading Romans 6 for Tuesday, December 26th. When you die to sin you are no longer a slave to it, your allegiance has been transferred to righteousness.

Reading Romans 5 for Monday, December 25th. Jesus was significant in that He redeemed mankind to be brought close again to God, The Father.

Reading Romans 4 for Saturday, December 23rd. Abraham was justified by his faith, not by living in accordance with the law of circumcision.

Reading Judges 21 for Friday, December 22nd. The single Benjamites had no wives, so the other tribes of Israel wanted to find them a solution.

Reading Judges 20 for Thursday, December 21st. A bloody battle is waged against the Benjamites.

Reading Judges 19 for Wednesday, December 20th. Warning: the content of this chapter contains graphic descriptions of violence and references to graphic sexual abuses. A Levite traveled through Benjamin and was threatened by a group of men in the town, and whose concubine died as a result of their actions.

Reading Judges 18 for Tuesday, December 19th. The Danites take over Laish and install the Levite as their own priest, with Micah’s idols and ephod, disappointing him.

Reading Judges 17 for Monday, December 18th. Micah stole from his mom, then returned her silver, and she had an idol and image made from part of it for him. He hired a Levite to be his priest and represent his silver house idol. He thought God would be pleased with what he did.

Reading Judges 16 for Saturday, December 16th. Samson became too confident in his strength and disobeyed his God, while flirting with his enemies.

Reading Judges 15 for Friday, December 15th. Samson burns the crops of the Philistines in revenge and is tied up by his community with rope to be delivered to them, but then escapes his ropes and kills 1,000 Philistines with a donkey’s jawbone.

Reading Judges 14 for Thursday, December 14th. Samson gets engaged to a Philistine woman, and starts the wedding week, and then leaves angrily when the answer to a riddle was coerced from his bride, so she married someone else.

Reading Judges 13 for Wednesday, December 13th. Manoah and his wife hear from the angel of the LORD that they will have a son, and they receive instructions on how to raise him as a Nazirite.

Reading Judges 12 for Tuesday, December 12th. Jephthah and his men slaughtered many Ephraimites who threatened to kill them.

Reading Judges 11 for Monday, December 11th. Jepthah made a vow to sacrifice whoever met him when he returned home if he won a certain battle. This made his daughter and her friends very sad.

Reading Judges 10 for Saturday, December 9th. God asks the Israelites why they are asking Him for help, and not the selection of gods they have been choosing.

Reading Judges 9 for Friday, December 8th. Abimelech killed almost all of Gideon’s sons and took over leadership of Israel, but was eventually killed in a gruesome manner.

Reading Judges 8 for Thursday, December 7th. The Israelites wanted to make Gideon and his sons their king, but Gideon refused and insisted that God should be there ruler. But then he made a golden ephod that they ended up worshipping.

Reading Judges 7 for Wednesday, December 6th. God grants victory to Gideon and 300 men over the Midianites.

Reading Judges 6 for Tuesday, December 5th. Gideon is called to lead a battle against the Midianites, but wants some confirmation through a couple signs from God.

Reading Judges 5 for Monday, December 4th. A song is sung to commemorate the victory over the enemies of Israel.
