Reading Matthew 16 Thursday, March 30th. Jesus refuses to perform another miracle for the benefit of the Pharisees, gives authority to Peter after he correctly identifies Him as the Christ, then later calls Peter Satan for having in mind the things of men, rather than God. 

Reading Matthew 15 for Wednesday, March 29th. Jesus heals a Canaanite woman’s daughter, even though she was not His first priority. 

Reading Matthew 14 for Tuesday, March 28th. People were healed by simply touching the edge of Jesus’ cloak. 

Reading Matthew 13 for Monday, March 27th. Jesus taught in parables, and didn’t explain all of them to the general public. 

Reading Matthew 12 for Friday, March 24th. Jesus upsets the Pharisees and highlights the importance of his relationship with those who obey the Father over his biological relatives. 

Reading Exodus 7 for Thursday, March 23rd. Moses performs miracles as God commanded him, but Pharaoh’s magicians did similar miracles, and Pharaoh was still not willing to allow The Israelites to go. 

Reading Exodus 6 for Wednesday, March 22nd. God tells Moses to ask Pharaoh again to let His people go, but Moses asks why anyone would care to listen to him. 

Reading Exodus 5 for Tuesday, March 21st. Moses tells Pharaoh what God commanded, but Pharaoh only made the work harder for God’s people. 

Reading Exodus 4 for Monday, March 20th. God prepared Moses to confront Pharaoh. Then Moses meets with God on the way to Egypt, and, to avoid their son’s immediate death, Moses’ wife Zipporah does an emergency circumcision on their son to confirm his also being set apart as one of God’s chosen people. 

Reading Exodus 3 for Friday, March 17th. God has a plan to address the situation between the people of Israel and Egypt. 

Reading Exodus 2 for Thursday, March 16th. Moses is born, hidden, raised as an Egyptian, and kills another Egyptian for beating an Israelite. He then flees as a fugitive to a place where he is accepted, and then is given a wife. 

Reading Exodus 1 for Wednesday, March 15th. The new Pharaoh saw the Israelites as a threat, and tried to suppress their growth. 

Reading Genesis 50 for Tuesday, March 14th. Jacob was taken to be buried with his relatives after being embalmed. Joseph had mercy on his fearful brothers. Joseph died at the age of 110. 

Reading Genesis 49 for Monday, March 13th. Jacob gave prophetic words for each of his sons, gave instructions on where to bury him, and then he died in his bed. 

Reading Genesis 48 for Saturday, March 11th. Joseph visits his father Israel and his sons are blessed in a different order than expected. 

Reading Genesis 47 for Friday, March 10th. Joseph presents his brothers and father to Pharaoh. Later his father dies. 

Reading Genesis 46 for Thursday, March 9th. Joseph invites his dad, brothers, and family to move to Egypt and to live in Goshen. My daughter, Zion read along with me and added to the discussion.

Reading Genesis 45 for Wednesday, March 8th. Joseph comes clean about who he is to his brothers and his father finds out when they all receive an invitation to move to Goshen. 

Reading Genesis 44 for Tuesday, March 7th. Joseph really scares his brothers by accusing them of stealing his silver cup and framing Benjamin for the crime. 

Reading Genesis 43 for Monday, March 6th. Joseph invites his brothers over for a meal when they return to buy more grain, and he is still hiding his identity from them. 

Reading Genesis 42 for Saturday March 4th. Joseph confronted his brothers and gave them a hard time, even though they did not recognize him, and the predictions from his earlier dreams were fulfilled. 

Reading Genesis 41 for Friday, March 3rd. Joseph gets promoted and gives God the credit for interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams. 

Reading Genesis 40 for Thursday, March 2nd. Joseph interprets dreams and is still forgotten. 

Reading Genesis 39 for Wednesday, March 1st. Joseph flees from temptation, but is thrown into prison due to a false accusation. 

Reading Matthew 11 for Tuesday, February 28th. Jesus confirms indirectly that he is the Messiah to John the Baptist while he’s in prison. 

Reading Matthew 10 for Monday, February 27th. Jesus tells His disciples what they can expect as they go out and spread the gospel. 

Reading Matthew 9 for Friday, February 24th. Jesus healed a lot of people, and the Pharisees were not impressed. 

Reading Matthew 8 for Thursday, February 23rd. Some people do not want to accept the sacrifice that comes with following Jesus, and some are unwilling to accept His message and ministry. 

Reading Matthew 7 for Wednesday, February 22nd. Apply what you have learned and build your house on the rock of Jesus Christ. 

Reading Genesis 38 for Tuesday, February 21st. God smites two men for their wickedness, and Tamar (a widow) disguises herself as a prostitute and becomes impregnated by Judah, but avoids her own execution by implicating him as the impregnating man.

Joseph, Israel’s favorite son was eager to tell his brothers about the dreams he had of him ruling over them and all other things, inciting their jealous anger and resentment. Reading Genesis 36 for Saturday, February 18th. Esau had many descendants and built a nation and a people from these descendants, including many kings of Edom. 

Reading Genesis 35 for Friday, February 17th. Jacob is renamed Israel, Reuben, his son sleeps with Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant, and Rachel dies while bearing her second son, Benjamin. 

Reading Genesis 34 for Thursday, February 16th. Dinah is defiled by a man, and her brothers avenge her by deceiving and then killing all of the men in the city. 

Reading Genesis 33 for Wednesday, February 15th. Jacob bows when he meets Esau, offers him gifts and ultimately is accepted by him. 

Reading Genesis 32 for Tuesday, February 14th. Jacob prepares to meet Esau, and wrestles with the pre-incarnate-God, who renames him Israel. 

Reading Genesis 31 for Monday, February 13th. Jacob leaves Laban, bringing his wives and children and possessions. Laban doesn’t like the way he secretly left, and they eventually make a peace treaty pillar. 

Reading Genesis chapter 30 for Saturday, February 11th. Jacob’s four wives have lots of children and his livestock wealth flourishes. 

Reading Genesis 29 for Friday, February 10th. Jacob meets Rachel, lives in her dad’s house, and works for 7 years to marry Rachel, but ends up marrying her older sister and working for another 7 years for the privilege. 

Reading Genesis 28 for Thursday, February 9th. Jacob is sent with instructions on who to marry and Esau intentionally marries contradicting his father’s wishes. 

Reading Genesis 27 for Wednesday, February 8th. Jacob disguises himself and steals Esau’s blessing, and runs for his life to live with his uncle. 

Reading Genesis 26 for Tuesday, February 7th. Isaac grows in power, riches, and influence, and is then asked to move along. Later a treaty is made between him and Abimelech, and Esau marries two Hittite women, which disappointed his parents. 

Reading Genesis 25 for Monday, February 6th. Abraham died. Ishmael has sons who live in hostility toward their brothers. Jacob and Esau are born and are constantly living in animosity or acting with deception toward each other. 

Reading Genesis 24 for Saturday, February 4th. Abraham’s chief servant goes to find Isaac a wife, and then Isaac gets married to Rebekah. 

Reading Genesis 23 for Friday, February 3rd. Abraham’s wife Sarah dies at the age of 127, and Abraham buys a plot of land for a burial site for her. 

Reading Genesis 22 for Thursday, February 2nd. God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac, but then stopped him before the slaying. 

Reading Genesis 21 for Wednesday, February 1st. Abraham is accommodating to his wife’s demands. He gives up some of his flock to ensure Abimelech’s servants’ misdeeds are not repeated. He also obeys God’s command to circumcise his son from Sarah, Isaac. 

Reading Matthew 6 for Tuesday, January 31st, 2017. Jesus encourages his followers not to brag about the ‘good things’ that they do because their motives will prove that they are not even doing good.
