Is A “Workhorse, Not A Show Horse” Enough In 2025? (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, so our friends Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project are back to discuss the news of the day! Last night, Governor Tony Evers delivered his 2025 Wisconsin State Budget Address. While the substance was largely good, Todd wasn’t a fan of the delivery. Pat and Trygve share their takes, and we listen to what you think of Evers and his ability to work for Wisconsin. Towards the end of the hour, we lean on Trygve’s European expertise to cover some international news. Over the last few days, President Donald Trump has been spreading misinformation on social media about the Russia-Ukraine war. Todd is a coffee expert, and he takes your calls before sharing the multitude of reasons why he will always take a good coffee black. Remember to be a voter in today’s Spring Primary election! Visit myvote.wi.gov to learn where your polling place is. At the bottom of the hour, Todd takes a moment to discuss the ongoing decline of local news and general news literacy among the public. Elon Musk Is Trying To Buy The WI Supreme Court (Hour 1)
According to a new article from Dan Bice at Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Elon Musk has already spent at least $670,000 supporting former WI Attorney General Brad Schimel in our state supreme court race. That number is likely to increase in the coming weeks as we near election day on April first. Wisconsin has allowed easy circumvention of campaign donation limits for several years now. However, now that the richest man in the world is putting his thumb on the scale, we are reaching new heights. At the bottom of the hour, our friend Luke Mathers hops on the show for another round of Tuesday Tangents! He offers his perspective on Elon Musk’s meddling in Wisconsin elections. This $670,000+ ad buy is a drop in the bucket for Musk, but it will make a tremendous difference in this race. A National Day of Protest
Hour two kicks off with Todd mentioning President's Day, as well as the National Day of Protest, both in Washington and at state capitols. In today's edition of What's Worse we have the debate: PDA or public arguments? After some chatter about the Badger basketball game against Purdue last night, we hear some clips from Michael Steele, as well as David Brooks, about the danger the country faces from Elon Musk and DOGE. Closing out, the discussion turns, on this Day of Protest, we hear a bit of history from Todd, about the use of troops against US citizens - with a case study of stonewall. 50 Years of SNL
Todd, along with fill-in producer Sam, rundown what to look for on the ballot tomorrow for the primary election. They also reflect on the 50th anniversary of SNL, celebrated over the weekend with many cast members from over the years in attendance. Later, we dig a bit deeper into the candidates on the ballot statewide tomorrow, for the office of State Superintendent of Schools: Jill Underly, Jeff Wright, and Brittney Kinser. Wrapping up the first hour, Todd tells a story from his time working in the federal government, about legitimate wasteful spending, much unlike what DOGE has set out to stop. The Next Victim of DOGE
In hour two, we've got a special Valentine's Day edition of What's Worse: Valentine's Day, or all the other "made up" holidays. Todd and Sam discuss, and also get input from listeners about the day of love. Later, we learn a bit about Sam and his love of history, before jumping into the news that over 1,000 employees of the VA are being fired in the name of efficiency - a move that will be much more harmful than helpful. Closing out the show, Todd and Sam take a look back at February 14th, 1990, the day the famous "Pale Blue Dot" photo of Earth was captured. The Union
Todd, along with fill-in producer Sam kick off this Friday show talking Valentine's Day, and all about the second round of snow we've got coming. Reed Galen from The Lincoln Project joins the show, discussing his spinoff organization The Union, and their mission to mobilize grassroots voting and democracy efforts. Later, they dive into how we should be thinking about the effective dismantling of democracy (!) and how it affects us here at home - with the case study of tariffs. Wrapping up the hour, the pair discuss the upcoming SCOWI race, and what we should be doing now to raise awareness. Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places (Hour 2)
This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: bad breath or bad opinions? Both stink, but the severity makes a difference. We take your calls and texts on which is more likely to ruin a date. As we near the bottom of the hour, Todd updates us on a new $400m contract between our government and Tesla. Elon Musk, the man ostensibly in charge of rooting out government corruption and unnecessary contracts, is entering a new agreement to provide our country with armored Tesla vehicles. This conflict of interest epitomizes Musk’s blatant opportunism. The loneliness epidemic has reached new heights as AI chatbot romances are becoming dangerously popular. The simulated perfection of an AI companion can be addicting, making someone less likely to tolerate rejection in real life. Todd brings us some ways to work around this quagmire, mainly through reading literature and philosophy about real human relationships. The Wisconsin Civics Games with Eve Galanter (Hour 1)
After a brief roundup of the day’s news, Todd is joined by Eve Galanter, an old friend from his days working for Congressman Scott Klug! At that time, Eve worked across the aisle for Senator Herb Kohl. These days, she is the founder of the Wisconsin Civics Games, an annual Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation civics trivia contest for students in our state. Are you interested in signing up a team of students? It’s not too late to enter this year’s tournament! Head over to wisconsincivicsgames.com by March first to register a team of up to four students. Running State Campaigns At A National Level (Hour 2)
Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project sticks around for a few extra minutes today to weigh in further on Judge Susan Crawford’s candid answers to his tough questions on her State Supreme Court campaign. Todd asks us What’s Worse: the DMV or the dentist? We take your calls and texts with horror stories. Speaking The Truth with Judge Susan Crawford (Hour 1)
This Wednesday, a grumpier-than-usual Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project joins us to discuss the Wisconsin State Supreme Court race. We also get his opinion on Speaker Robin Vos and his new DOGE-inspired Governmental Oversight Accountability and Transparency Committee, or GOAT. Towards the end of the hour, we are honored to welcome Judge Susan Crawford, a candidate for our State Supreme Court race. She shares what she believes to be the most vital issues in this race. Robin Vos Is Not The GOAT (Hour 2)
This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: cashless or cash only? We take your calls on whether it’s better to have lower prices and carry bulky cash or to pay for convenience with credit cards. At the bottom of the hour, Todd pivots to cover What’s Poppin’ with Robin Vos. This is a bit of an old story, but one that’s still relevant. State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is still attempting to divert Wisconsin’s $4+ billion budget surplus into Trump-inspired tax cuts for the wealthy. Going Through Todd’s Grocery Bill (Hour 1)
After an update on expected snowfall through the rest of this week, Todd dives into something concerning all Americans: the price of groceries. Last night at the grocery store, he stocked up on staples and ended up spending about $175. While this isn’t a weekly or even biweekly cost for Todd, it’s quite expensive. How are single parents supposed to afford costs like this? Todd takes your calls on the price of groceries. Big Balls Still Has Your SSN (Hour 2)
In the aftermath of a poor performance from the Kansas City Chiefs, Todd asks us What’s Worse: half-assed or not even started? We take several of your texts and calls on whether low effort or no effort takes the cake. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 12 - 2 pm across Wisconsin. Football, Pizza, Dolphin Pee And Cocaine (Hour 2)
Civic Media’s excellent Sports Reporter Mike Clemens joins us today from New Orleans to provide the key information we need before this weekend’s Super Bowl! He also chimes in on Jordan Love’s increased performance during Toyotathon and the increased reach of social media influencers in both politics and sports. For today’s edition of What’s Worse, Todd pits square pizza against triangular pizza. At the bottom of the hour, Managing Editor of eBaum’s World Peter Rapine escorts us into the weekend with some of the craziest true stories from the last week! Here are the stories Peter shared with us this week: A 19-Year-Old Who Calls Himself 'Big Balls' Has Your SSN An American Woman Flew to Pakistan to Meet 19-Year-Old Internet Boyfriend, Got Rejected, and Is Now Refusing to Leave The Entire Grammy's Crowd Called Drake A Pedophile Dolphins Keep Peeing Straight Up Into the Air and on Each Other, and We Don’t Know Why Colombia’s President Says Cocaine is Just as Bad as Whiskey, and We’re Racist for Banning It Some Dudes Stole A Subway Train And Took It For A Joyride Turns Out You Can Get a VIP Table at Popeyes Woman Dressed as Mermaid Gets Bit by Big Fish The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 12 - 2 pm across Wisconsin. The Fullback Is Back with Bradie Ewing (Hour 1)
Last night, candidates for Wisconsin’s State Superintendent election met for their first and only public forum. Strangely, incumbent Dr. Jill Underly did not show up to answer questions, providing a weak excuse for her absence. At the bottom of the hour, we hear from our friend and fellow Richland Center native Bradie Ewing! His experience in Badgers and NFL football allowed him to meet people of extremely varied backgrounds, and he shares some of the things he’s learned from this diversity. Adjusting To A New Political Reality with Dan Shafer (Hour 2)
We kick off today’s second hour with some audio from Democrats Brian Schiff and Elizabeth Warren about why Elon Musk’s FBI raids and Treasury information breaches matter to the average American. Todd finds it difficult to believe that most Trump voters intended for Elon Musk to get their social security numbers, but Wisconsin’s own Robin Vos says, “hell yeah I voted for this and its [sic] better than I expected.” At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media’s Political Editor and Founder of The Recombobulation Area Dan Shafer joins us to talk about last-minute NBA trades and his latest political article. The Chaos Is By Design. Don’t Give Up On Truth! (Hour 1)
The Trump administration has commanded over a dozen social clubs relating to race and/or gender at West Point Military Academy to shut down. Clubs affected include Society Of Black Engineers, Society Of Women Engineers, language clubs and several others. These clubs must delete all of their assets, and members are now forbidden from meeting in their own free time. As Todd reminds us, students of West Point are some of our best and brightest, and certainly not unqualified “DEI hires.” The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 12 - 2 pm across Wisconsin. No Butt Shaming Allowed! (Hour 2)
In the checkout lane, some people can’t get along with technology, while others struggle with social anxiety. This is especially pertinent as we approach Super Bowl weekend. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: self-checkout or cashiers? The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 12 - 2 pm across Wisconsin. Making Our Voices Heard Under Elon– I Mean Trump (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means a visit from Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project! As Todd watches Wisconsinites march down State street in Madison in protest of President Trump and Elon Musk’s actions, Todd asks Pat and Trygve what their thoughts on how people can and should make their voices heard. Yesterday afternoon, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu met with President Trump in the White House. Trump announced his intent to level and develop the Gaza strip into a new economic powerhouse. This doesn’t line up with Trump’s “America First” campaign promises. Trygve is wondering how Trump voters feel about this foreign aid/invasion. Ultimately, this is a big distraction from Elon Musk’s continued coup of our government’s payment systems. Musk Has “Unchecked Access” To Everybody’s Info (Hour 2)
This past Sunday was one of Todd’s favorite holidays: Groundhog Day! PETA have been coming after Punxsutawney Phil, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is having none of it. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: low-energy people or high-energy people? Elon Musk Is Nothing More Than A Common Thief (Hour 1)
Yesterday, Todd shared some stories of his time spent in El Salvador. Today, he dives into a less than pleasant part of their history: their prisons. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele is known for decreasing gang violence by indiscriminately imprisoning suspicious individuals. He and Marco Rubio have made a deal for El Salvador to accept deportees and troublesome US prisoners. At the bottom of the hour, Luke Mathers joins us for another round of Tuesday Tangents! He and Todd walk through Elon Musk’s heinous takeover and dismantling of key government agencies like USAID. No Matter What Happens by Barbra Streisand (Hour 2)
In today’s second hour, Todd takes more of your calls on Democratic messaging and where our economy is headed. He also asks us What’s Worse: hospital food or school lunches? Every Starfish Matters (Hour 1)
Over the weekend, Elon Musk and the Trump administration took several actions that may send the entire world into an economic recession. Before diving into that situation, Todd walks us through some of his personal experiences with USAID and the lifelong friends he’s made in Central America. Elon Musk, an unelected bureaucrat with no security clearance, is strong-arming his way into access to any and all data he wants. He is using this information to unilaterally cut off funding to anybody he doesn’t like. This is wildly unconstitutional, but not unexpected. President Trump has implemented tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China. We take your calls on the effects that these actions will have on the world. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 12 - 2 pm across Wisconsin. Celebrating Award Winners In Wisconsin (Hour 2)
This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: the Grammys or the Oscars? We take your calls and texts on which awards show you’d rather not sit through. After that, we fly through some more state news. State Supreme Court Justice Brian Hagedorn is recusing himself from an upcoming hearing on Act 10 due to his work on the original legislation. It is refreshing to see Justice Hagedorn do the right thing here when the highest courts in our land are so mired in controversy. The great community of Wisconsin Rapids has received an award for their expert snow removal program! Their City Department is actively working to increase efficiency in their snow and ice management strategies while reducing environmental impacts from salt. Aaron’s board game of the week is a Midwestern classic: Euchre! Using a subset of a normal deck of cards, work with your teammate to take as many tricks (hands) as you can. This May, you can participate in the third annual World Euchre Championship Tournament in New Glarus! Netflix And Chill With Sean Duffy (Hour 1)
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported yesterday on the wild inaccuracies of President Trump’s comments regarding this week’s deadly DC plane collision. In other news, Wisconsin’s own Sean Duffy is our new national Secretary of Transportation. He now plans to tie federal DOT funding to higher marriage and birth rates. Donald Trump Is The Least “Manly” President Ever (Hour 2)
Grandpa Allbaugh was a great wrestler, and he used to say that the greatest indicator of manliness is personal responsibility. Donald Trump has absolutely zero personal responsibility, as indicated once again by his behavior this morning. At the bottom of the hour, we lighten things up as Todd asks What’s Worse: bleu cheese or American cheese? People here in Wisconsin take their cheese very seriously. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 12 - 2 pm across Wisconsin. Trump’s Disaster Response Is Always Blame (Hour 1)
Last night, an American Airlines passenger plane crashed into a US Army Black Hawk helicopter. 64 passengers and three soldiers are presumed dead, making this the deadliest plane crash in America since 2001. President Trump spent the majority of his press conference this morning blaming the Biden administration and DEI in the military for this disaster. We also take a call from fellow Civic Media host Earl Ingram. He shares his thoughts on how Trump managed to secure votes of minorities in our country despite his anti-minority rhetoric. Fingernails, Public Health Disasters and Phones (Hour 2)
This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: seeing someone bite their fingernails or hearing the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard? We take your calls and texts on whether germs or horrible sounds irritate you more. At the bottom of the hour, Todd updates us on some of the specific programs impacted by Trump’s funding freezes and budget cuts. The US President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a program that has saved tens of millions of lives around the world, has already begun turning people away. While the funding freeze has been rescinded, PEPFAR and other programs deemed “unnecessary” by the Trump administration are still in danger. Here in Wisconsin, we may soon have a state law banning phones in schools. While electronics undoubtedly have both positive and negative effects on education, making this decision at the state level may put local municipalities in tough positions. Keep Wisconsin Empathetic with Trygve Olson (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means a visit from Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project! On April first, Wisconsin will vote to elect a new state supreme court justice. Every day, we discover new reasons why Conservative candidate Brad Schimel is completely unfit to serve our state. At a Republican community event last year, Schimel was caught on a mic calling for another “bloody revolution” to get American freedom back from “the socialists.” BREAKING NEWS: After widespread chaos across the country, the Trump administration has walked back their federal funding freeze that was issued on Monday. Many of President Trump’s policies and executive orders are sparking negative reactions throughout the country. Todd and Trygve help us focus on what really matters to us here in Wisconsin. Mental Health In UW Sports (Hour 2)
A year or so ago, Joe Gow was fired from his position as Chancellor of UW La Crosse for creating a series of pornographic cooking shows with his wife and adult film stars in his free time. He is now filing a federal lawsuit alleging that his free speech rights were violated. Todd and Aaron keep you abreast of the situation. Today, Todd engages in some Midwest rivalry as he asks us What’s Worse: Minnesota or Illinois? Our callers and texters voted unanimously. Listen in to find out which state is worse. As Always, The Cruelty Is The Point with Luke Mathers (Hour 1)
Starting today, we’ll be posting each day’s What’s Worse question as a poll on Twitter/X! Follow the show @allbaughshow to make your voice heard if you’re not able to call or text in live. President Trump has ordered a freeze on nearly all federal grants and loans with no specified end date. Unsurprisingly, these files contain metadata proving that they originated from authors of Project 2025. Either these Heritage Foundation members are inept at covering their tracks or they simply do not care now that they’re in power. At the bottom of the hour, we bring Luke Mathers in for another edition of Tuesday Tangents! He and Todd continue the discussion about federal funding freezes. They also cover the removal of security details from former Trump administration members with credible death threats against them. Legal Or Not, Know Your Immigration Rights (Hour 2)
During our first hour, one of our listeners texted in asking for tips on helping Latino friends and family members, even if they are legal citizens. Todd has experience with immigration to and from Central American countries, and he provides some sound advice. If you “look Latino,” it might be a good idea to start carrying identification like a passport with you. Unfortunately, we may not be far off from a time where citizens are asked to show their papers to law enforcement. Whether or not you are a citizen, you can find information on your rights at micentro.org. Centro Hispano is an organization based in Dane County, but they may be able to help you find a local resource if you are not in that area. It’s never fun when your favorite sports team loses. Today, Todd asks us What’s Worse: your team losing a close game or your team getting blown out? Mass Deportation Or Parade Of Force? (Hour 1)
After rounding up the weekend sports news, Todd addresses the overwhelming anxiety many of us feel a week into Trump’s second presidency. Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI) summarized the core of the problem at an event this weekend. He emphasizes that seating is very telling at important events like weddings or inaugurations. The placement of billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in front of President Trump’s cabinet members tells Americans that the average citizen was never intended to be the focus of the incoming administration’s policies. Over the weekend, President Trump began his mass deportation efforts in Chicago. However, it appears to be more of a show of force than anything else. Don’t Pee Outside When It’s -33 Degrees (Hour 2)
Today, Todd asks us What’s Worse: personal injury commercials or car commercials? We take your calls and texts with memories of the most annoying commercials. At the bottom of the hour, Managing Editor of eBaum’s World Peter Rapine joins us for another week in review! He’s an expert on the craziest things that real people do. Expanding Our Circle with Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez (Hour 1)
Today, we are honored to welcome Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez back to the show! We speak with her about Wednesday’s State of the State address from Governor Evers. She shares more details on how the Governor plans to address mental health in Wisconsin and why it matters. In his speech, Governor Evers also touched on immigration and the ways that national “mass deportation” rhetoric affects us in our state. Todd and Lt. Gov. Rodriguez both have a personal connection to this issue. At the bottom of the hour, three-time Big 10 champion Bradie Ewing is back for another discussion on sports and positive thinking. In remembering the late Bob Uecker, Todd and Bradie reflect on the incredible impact that good sports broadcasters have on both players and listeners. Many people don’t realize that as sports teams travel, the players, coaches and broadcasters become family. Will Todd Get Fired For Talking Smack About Elon? (Hour 1)
Yesterday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that CBS 58 in Milwaukee fired weather reporter Sam Kuffel for criticizing Elon Musk on her personal social media. While there may have been a legitimate reason to lay her off, the subsequent silence from CBS 58 speaks volumes. This sets a dangerous precedent very early on in Donald Trump’s presidency. If media companies will fire people in their weather departments for criticizing somebody who isn’t even an elected official, trust in news departments will likely deteriorate even further. It Turns Out Trump Means What He Says (Hour 1)
Yesterday, President Donald Trump signed a multitude of executive orders, including a blanket pardon for everybody involved in the January 6, 2021 insurrection. Granting clemency to felons who assaulted police officers is hardly “backing the blue,” but Judge Brad Schimel is all for it. Even Representative Glenn Grothman doesn’t believe that violent offenders from that day should be pardoned. At the bottom of the hour, Luke Mathers joins us for some Tuesday Tangents to continue discussing the ways MAGA downplays the violence against law enforcement from that day. This pardon demonstrates that Donald Trump really does mean the ridiculous garbage that he says. Inviting Everyone To The Table with Jeff Wright (Hour 2)
In today’s second hour, we continue reminiscing about Bob Uecker’s legacy with Sean Hanish, Director/Producer of Just A Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers. He reminds us that wherever you are, if you hear Ueck, you’re at home. If you’re able to donate to help victims of the raging fires in Southern California, Time Magazine has a list of reputable charities that can best put your donations to use. You can also find some charities on civicmedia.us. At the bottom of the hour, we are joined in-studio by Jeff Wright, a candidate running to be Wisconsin’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Currently the superintendent of the Sauk Prairie School District, Jeff is one of three individuals vying for the position in April’s election. He is doing a remarkable job of uniting the school board and student body in one of the most purple areas of our state. Jeff Wright also shares some big news: former State Senate Majority Leader Dale Schultz is endorsing his candidacy. As a respected community figure in our state, Dale believes that Jeff Wright would be an ideal leader for Wisconsin’s public education. Cilantro, The Kardashians, and Bondi Girls (Hour 2)
Today, Todd asks us What’s Worse: cilantro or the Kardashians? These two might seem entirely unrelated, but they’re both things people tend to have strong feelings about. We take a lot of calls and texts with your opinions! When you eat cilantro, does it taste like soap? That’s actually genetic. You can learn more about genetics and contribute to global research through the National Institutes of Health and their All Of Us program at allofus.nih.gov. At the bottom of the hour, Todd shifts back to national news. Yesterday, we heard some clips from Pete Hegseth’s confirmation hearing, and today we listen in on Pam Bondi’s Attorney General hearing.
