Rest In Peace, Giorgio Armani (Hour 2)

This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: regular gas or premium gas? We take some surprising calls and texts on when each should be used.  After catching up on NFL updates before the season opens tonight, Todd turns back to politics. Jessie Opoien’s latest article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel details a hairy situation in the capitol. Milwaukee Rep. Ortiz-Velez has been barred from accessing the building in Madison after alleged threats of gun violence. She claims that she’s being targeted for being a Democratic gun owner. We’ll have to stay tuned to discover the truth. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. How Will AI Data Centers Impact Wisconsin? (Hour 1)

We’ve long known that HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr. has little to no medical knowledge. This morning, Republican Senator Bill Cassidy– who is a medical doctor– put the Secretary in a box. Sen. Cassidy pointed out RFK Jr.’s hypocrisy in supporting President Trump’s impact on the COVID-19 vaccine while simultaneously claiming that the vaccine killed more people than the virus. Todd breaks down the conversation.  As AI continues to rise in popularity, data centers are being built all over our state. This may sound like a positive addition to the job market, but as Charlie Berens recently highlighted, there’s a lot more to the story. Amy Barrilleaux of Clean Wisconsin returns to the show to share her environmental expertise on how these data centers may impact our lives. The Changing Of The Seasons (Hour 2)

As we herald in the autumn season, Todd asks us What’s Worse: an early winter or an early fall? We take your calls and texts with strong cases for both sides.  In Wisconsin political news, Lawrence Andrea of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that both GOP Wisconsin gubernatorial candidates have voiced support for the Trump administration's plans to mobilize the military in Milwaukee.  At the bottom of the hour, we are thrilled to welcome the amazing Skip Jones! He is a Wisconsin-based folk singer, storyteller, and educator that Todd ran into a while back in Shawano. Learn more of his story at skipjones.net. An Animated Discussion With Pat and Trygve (Hour 1)

Today, Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project begin their usual Wednesday appearance by reminiscing about Saturday morning cartoons. They then return to the present century with a discussion about the latest rhetoric from the right and the left. David Hogg is still threatening to primary other Democrats, and the Trump administration continues to talk about sending the National Guard and/or ICE to cities they don’t like.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd and Trygve check in on how the Packers are looking as the NFL season kicks off. Did Green Bay fleece Jerry Jones, or were they knowingly left holding the bag with an injured player? GOLFING WITH MARK MURPHY – 100% REAL* (Hour 2)

In our second hour, our own Luke Mathers makes a surprise visit to the show to share some behind-the-scenes Packers news! Luke spent a portion of his Labor Day weekend golfing with friends and family, where he happened to run into former Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy. He shared some of his thoughts on the latest moves by the team. You never know who you’ll see around our state.  *Luke wants us to clarify that he did not actually golf with Mark Murphy, but just ran into him. Here in the dairy state, we love our milk, but everybody has their favorite type. Today, Todd asks us What’s Worse: skim milk or 2% milk? We take your calls and texts.  At the bottom of the hour, we return to a very interesting character we haven’t heard from in a while: former UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow! According to the La Crosse Tribune, he and his wife were interviewed about their OnlyFans career for a TMZ documentary on the online porn industry that airs tonight on the Fox network. It is unknown whether they will be clothed, so watch at your own risk.  In other Wisconsin news, Dan Bice of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Liberal State Supreme Court candidate Chris Taylor seems to be abandoning some of her previous ethical stances on recusal. Listen to Todd’s take, and read Dan Bice’s article for more information. Trump’s Vibes-Based Decisions Hurt Us All (Hour 1)

Shortly before our show began, President Donald Trump announced that the Space Force headquarters will be relocated from Colorado back to Alabama. He used this platform to denounce mail-in voting yet again. He and other speakers also claimed that this move is best for national security. As we fact check, it is true that the Air Force leadership preferred Alabama. What Trump neglected to mention is that Space Force leadership were concerned about the estimated three to four year lead time to construct new facilities instead of using the existing Colorado infrastructure. All in all, today’s announcement followed a classic MAGA strategy, building a false narrative based on a twisted nugget of truth.  To wrap up our first hour, Todd recaps the latest public health news. Surprising nobody, several top CDC officials have been fired or resigned and are publicly speaking out against the ineptitude of Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr. His policies are likely to cause disastrous outcomes for the health of Americans. A Tribute To Coach Lee Corso (Hour 2)

In today’s second hour, we’re delighted to have Todd’s former broadcasting partner Kevin O’Connor back on the show! His knowledge of sports is quite deep, so he has a lot to say about the Micah Parsons trade.  Kevin is a lifelong Bears fan, so Todd asks us What’s Worse: being a Cowboys fan or being a Bears fan? We take calls and texts on whether it hurts more to be arrogant or dejected.  Aaron’s board game of the week is this year’s Spiel des Jahres, or German game of the year: Bomb Busters! Each of 2-5 players gets a secret row of numbered wires, and they have to work together to cut all of the blue wires without accidentally cutting a red one and detonating the bomb. It’s a very simple premise, but it comes with 66 “mission” cards to shake things up. This game is great for the whole family. Give it a try and discover why it won such a prestigious award! The Cowboys Say Goodbye, But The Packers Say Hello (Hour 1)

Yesterday was an absolutely tremendous day in football. Between exciting Packers news and a shutout kickoff game from the Badgers, Wisconsin fans have a lot to be happy about. Civic Media Sports Reporter Mike Clemens joins us between press conferences to share his insights on the newest Green Bay Packer: Micah Parsons.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd talks about a different kind of game: politics. Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley has announced that she will not run for a second term. Similarly, Iowa GOP Senator Joni Ernst announced that she will not be running for reelection. It turns out that her constituents did not enjoy being belittled for sharing their concerns about Medicaid cuts. High School Sports Are Back – Phil Nee and Chad Holmes (Hour 1)

Today, we begin with an update on yesterday’s shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Social media is overflowing with speculation on the shooter’s motives, but we must remember that it is too soon for conclusive evidence. What we do know for certain is that a lot of people bravely showed up to help. As Mr. Rogers said, focus on the helpers.  At the bottom of the hour, we shift to a far cheerier topic: the beginning of the high school sports season. Phil Nee of WRCO/WRCE and Chad Holmes of WXCO are two of the hardest working people at Civic Media, and they join us to talk about their high school sports coverage. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: hard mattresses or soft mattresses? We take your calls and texts on whether you’d rather sleep on the floor or sink into a puddle.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd moves back to the news. President Trump is attempting to make it illegal to burn the US flag despite a long-standing precedent set by the Supreme Court. Saving The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program (Hour 1)

Yesterday, Todd touched on President Trump’s military mobilization in Washington D.C. and what it means for us in Wisconsin. Today, we cover what elected officials across the midwest are saying about the possibility of a Chicago or Milwaukee occupation. Would you feel safer Conservation of Wisconsin’s natural resources is always front of mind for Todd. This year’s state budget failed to continue funding for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, which is one of our state’s most impactful conservation programs. At the bottom of the hour, we welcome two elected officials who are trying to fix this situation. State Sen. Jodi Habush Sinykin and Rep. Tip McGuire are joining other Democrats to propose a solution, but the Republicans have their own ideas. Will this issue bring bipartisan cooperation back to Wisconsin’s legislature? Trump Plans To Deploy More Military Outside D.C. (Hour 2)

This afternoon, Todd pits two summer cookout side dishes against one another as he asks us What’s Worse: potato salad or coleslaw? We take calls and texts on which salad puts the “ick” in picnic.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd shifts back to politics to discuss President Trump’s military occupation of Washington D.C. and the precedent it sets for the rest of our nation. Even here in Wisconsin, Milwaukee is likely to be one of the next cities Trump may deploy troops to. On Uecker’s Celebration Of Life (Hour 1)

Yesterday afternoon, the Brewers held a celebration of life for Mr. Baseball himself, Bob Uecker. Featuring remembrances from friends and colleagues including Bob Costas, Bud Selig, Christian Yelich, and Robin Yount, it was a tremendous ceremony, and it is available in its entirety on YouTube. The ceremony also contains some video tributes put together by Kelly Kahl and Sean Hanish, Producer and Director/Producer of the great film Just A Bit Outside, respectively. We take some calls and texts with your favorite memories of Ueck.  At the bottom of the hour, Wisconsin Watch Reporter Tom Kertscher returns to recap some of his recent articles and fact briefs. In Outagamie County, Judge Mark McGinnis is on track to be prosecuted for actions that he took while on the bench. This is a very rare occurrence. Judge McGinnis allegedly jailed a contractor for an unrelated private dispute during other court proceedings. There Is Still No News On The Epstein Files (Hour 2)

Here in Madison, students are moving into their dorms. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: changing jobs or moving? We take your texts on which is more difficult.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd turns back to the Friday news dump. Ghislaine Maxwell has been moved to a far more comfortable prison with the possibility of work release. It appears that she is receiving special treatment in return for never revealing Donald Trump’s alleged involvement with Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking. In other words, exactly what we anticipated is playing out.  Are you looking for a new way to have fun with friends and family? Aaron’s board game of the week is Hues and Cues! We take your calls and texts on which is more uncomfortable or dangerous.  Tonight, Donald Trump is “going out” with the military over in Washington D.C. to “help” them sort out the city’s made-up crime situation.  We also get a surprise visit from Gordy Young of The John and Gordy Show, which plays on WMDX in Madison from 6-8 am. An Early Look At WI’s Gov Race with Dan Shafer (Hour 1)

To kick off today’s show, Todd shares some breaking news: one of the most vile MAGA Christian Nationalists has died. James Dobson, known for demonizing LGBT people, promoting corporal punishment for children, and spreading antisemitic rumors about political opponents, has died at 89.  Back here in Wisconsin, AP reports that one of our court commissioners has resigned. In July, Peter Navis denied ICE agents access to his courtroom without presenting an appropriate warrant.  At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media Political Editor and Founder of The Recombobulation Area Dan Shafer returns for some recombobulation. After catching up on the incredible Milwaukee Brewers and the taste of victory at George Webb, Dan and Todd walk through our state’s political news. Unfortunately, “political news” also encompasses efforts to address the extreme flood damage in Southeastern Wisconsin, as FEMA has been politicized by President Trump.  Over at The Recombobulation Area, readers have been asking Dan what he thinks about our state’s gubernatorial race. While it’s quite early, he has a new article detailing his initial assessment of the candidates. On The Late Show’s Cancelation with Keegan Kelly (Hour 2)

At the top of our second hour, Civic Media producer Laura Bergh joins us to share her journey into the world of local radio.  It is well known that in Wisconsin, we have only two seasons: Winter and road construction. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: road construction or potholes? Both can keep you from getting where you’re going in a timely manner.  At the bottom of the hour, Writer/Editor Keegan Kelly of Cracked.com returns to dive into the increasingly unstable world of comedy television. As we have talked about, The Late Show with Steven Colbert is being canceled as part of a series of deals likely made to appease President Trump and allow a merger between media giants Paramount and Skydance. James Malouf also hops on to share how he ended up in community radio.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd, Trygve, and Pat turn to politics. For several years now, leadership of Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district has been hotly contested. Republican Incumbent Derrick Van Orden will very likely be the nomination of his party next year, but Democrats will have a much harder time uniting on a candidate. The Governator Strikes Back (Hour 2)

As we touched on yesterday, President Trump is moving to end all mail-in voting. Since our show, the bipartisan Democracy Defense Project-Wisconsin spoke out against this announcement. An executive order to end mail-in voting would violate the constitution, as it requires that states administer elections rather than the federal government.  This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: sauerkraut or cilantro? We take your texts on which of these polarizing foods rubs you the wrong way.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd updates us on the gerrymandering situation in Texas and California. Many UW Student Athletes Still Have Poor Mental Health (Hour 1)

In these troubling times, Wisconsin’s sports teams are a powerful force for unity in our state. The Brewers in particular are on a hot streak as they continue their series against the Cubs. However, not everything is hunky-dory when it comes to Wisconsin sports. While many UW schools have successful teams, the mental health of student athletes– particularly women– is in dire need of attention.  Back in February, Kelly Meyerhofer of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel joined us to share her reporting on how UW System is working to address the mental health of student athletes after one of them tragically died by suicide. Now, the Journal Sentinel’s Mark Stewart reports that five former female student athletes are suing their coach for alleged emotionally abusive conduct. Athletes were allegedly punished for seeking mental health care, and other coaching staff was aware of the situation and allowed it to continue. Rather than facing termination, former coach Marisa Mosely was allowed to resign earlier this year. When it comes down to it, we as supporters of these teams must remember that student athletes are people, too. With that in mind, please don’t harass athletes in person or online. It’s just about the right time of year to clean out our garages to be ready for Winter. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: cleaning the fridge or cleaning the garage? We take your calls and texts.  Crude oil pipelines have long been a point of contention in our state and the nation. At the bottom of the hour, we welcome Evan Feinauer, the Staff Attorney of Clean Wisconsin, to explain the ongoing conflict surrounding Enbridge’s Line 5 Pipeline in Northern Wisconsin. The pipeline’s proposed rerouting project endangers both our environment and clean water access for tribal communities.  You can listen to more of Evan’s thoughts on the Line 5 Pipeline in Clean Wisconsin’s podcast, The Defender. President Trump Announces The End Of Mail-In Ballots (Hour 1)

This morning, President Donald Trump held a press conference in which he made some very concerning comments about voting in our nation. Under the guise of a joke about wartime election delays in Ukraine, Trump insinuated that it would be “good” if America is at war in 2028 and a Presidential election cannot be held. The President also announced that he plans to end mail-in ballots in our country, making several falsified claims about the security and accuracy of current voting practices. Trump has used this playbook in the past, where he pretends that his latest policy idea is a joke before eventually implementing it. We take some of your calls on this dangerous canary in the coal mine.  The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund has been a bastion of environmental conservation in Wisconsin, but it has gotten the short end of the stick in this year’s state budget. At the bottom of the hour, Noe Goldhaber of Wisconsin Watch returns to share her latest reporting on the subject. While this statewide funding has been cut, $15 million of conservation funding for Speaker Robin Vos’s district was approved. In our second hour, Todd asks us What’s Worse: NFL preseason games or college football nonconference blowouts? In other words, is it worse to have games with no bearing on team standings or games that may have wildly mismatched teams? We take your calls and texts.  At the bottom of the hour, we ask an actual football player what he thinks about our question! Three-time B1G champion and former NFL player Bradie Ewing is back again to talk about the state of Wisconsin sports. How Are Your Representatives Using Their Vacation? (Hour 1)

Keep an eye or ear tuned to your local weather service! More severe thunderstorms may be headed all around the state this weekend. The worst storms are expected on Saturday and Sunday night. Additionally, Madison in particular will have heavy traffic on the Isthmus this weekend due to the annual gap in student housing leases.  As the summer comes to a close, many of us are getting our final vacations in before Labor Day. The US Senate and Congress are also in recess, and Wisconsin’s representatives are using their free time in very different ways. While Representatives like Tony Wied are taking vacations to places like Israel, Senator Tammy Baldwin is touring Northern Wisconsin to listen to her constituents. It’s not just Republicans who are abandoning their posts at important times. While the Trump administration occupies Washington, D.C., the city’s mayor is heading over to Martha’s Vineyard for a family event. On the other hand, we are seeing a refreshing moment of bipartisanship as Democrats Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Rep. Gween Moore team up with Republican Rep. Bryan Steil to fight for FEMA funds in Southeastern Wisconsin. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Exploring The Dignity Index (Hour 2)

This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: red cars or yellow cars? We take your calls and texts on which color irks you more.  Last hour, one of our listeners asked why MAGA leadership is making cuts to public broadcasting. Civic Media News Director Chali Pittman has the answer. The infamous Project 2025 Mandate for Leadership contained the rationale for ending the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. As with many other horrific actions of the Trump administration, we were informed beforehand that this would happen. In other federal policy news, the Trump administration is launching USAi, an initiative to incorporate AI into government work. How does your speech rate on The Dignity Index? As Todd hinted at yesterday, The Dignity Index is a tool to help us better connect with one another in conversation. The Legacy Of Public Broadcasting Is In Trouble (Hour 1)

Right as we wrapped up yesterday’s show, the Milwaukee Brewers clinched their 12th victory in a row, securing free burgers at George Webb for their fans!  As we have talked about previously, the Trump administration is officially defunding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. At the bottom of the hour, we are honored to welcome Sarah Ashworth and Jon Miskowski, the Directors of Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS Wisconsin, respectively. They share what the CPB means for the people of our state and how this move will affect all of us. Carrying A Gun Requires Responsibility (Hour 2)

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Berrien is on the record saying that he supports a “constitutional carry” law in Wisconsin, which would allow anybody and everybody to conceal firearms without training or a license. Todd and Trygve talk about the many reasons why this could spell disaster. As gun owners, they are both acutely aware of the incredible responsibility that falls upon anybody holding a gun.  French fries are a staple of American fast food, but all fries are not created equal. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: McDonald’s fries or Five Guys fries? Trygve Olson sticks around to give his opinion while we take your calls and texts.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd circles back to the incredibly successful year that the Milwaukee Brewers are having. We take a listen to Christian Yelich and Pat Murphy on how the team is pulling it off. Brewers Burger Time, Take Two (Hour 1)

Now that Trygve is back in the country, we are joined by our typical Wednesday guests, Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project. We kick things off with some baseball hype, as the Milwaukee Brewers are on another incredible 11-game winning streak. They are the first team to have multiple 11+ game win streaks since the Cubs in 1935. Our trio also touches on the flash flooding in the Milwaukee area and what these communities can expect from disaster aid.  Over the last several days, President Trump has mobilized the National Guard in what boils down to a takeover of Washington D.C. law enforcement. This is simultaneously a dangerous authoritarian move and a distraction from the Epstein files. Even Joe Rogan and other popular podcasters have turned their backs on Trump due to continued refusal to release the files. APRNs Are A Major Win For Wisconsin Healthcare (Hour 2)

This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: being emotionally closed off or enthusiastically open? We take your calls and texts on which emotional communication style is worse.  At the bottom of the hour, State Senator Kelda Roys joins us in-studio to share some excellent news. Senator Roys was the first Democrat to support a bill that opens up nurses to run their own medical practices in our state as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, or APRNs. After a prolonged lobbying battle between various medical organizations, Governor Evers signed this bipartisan bill into law last Friday. This new law will help providers in Wisconsin respond effectively to healthcare shortages, particularly in rural areas.  As we wrap up the show, Sen. Roys breaks some exciting news: she is very likely to announce a run for Governor of Wisconsin after Labor Day. She shares some of her priorities for our state. Jim Lovell’s Wisconsin Connection with Chris Henry (Hour 1)

The Milwaukee Brewers are white-hot right now, but the Green Bay Packers are having a rough pre-season start. Civic Media Sports Reporter Mike Clemens calls in to share his observations on the ground at Lambeau Field. While many members of the team are on an upward trajectory, the team announced that quarterback Jordan Love injured his left hand. Yikes.  After the sports conversation, Todd updates us on the severe thunderstorms and historic flooding in the Milwaukee area. As of an hour before the show, tens of thousands of people are still without power. Governor Evers yesterday declared a state of emergency for Milwaukee residents, which is the first step in securing aid from FEMA to recover from this natural disaster.  At the bottom of the hour, we are joined by EAA Museum Director Chris Henry to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Astronaut Jim Lovell, who passed away at the end of last week. While many of us are aware of Lovell’s role in the survival of those aboard the Apollo 13 mission, he also holds an important place in aviation history and has a strong Wisconsin connection. Even Chick-fil-A Workers Love Culver’s (Hour 2)

Last night, Todd stopped for dinner at Culver’s and saw an unusual sight in the parking lot: a Chick-fil-A truck! This inspires today’s question. What’s Worse: Culver’s or Chick-fil-A? Apparently, Chick-fil-A employees have their own takes on this. We also take your calls and texts.  At the bottom of the hour, we’re happy to welcome Casey Hicks, the Federal Government Affairs Manager with the Wisconsin Conservation Voters. Trump’s Tariffs Are Still Hurting Wisconsinites (Hour 1)

After a brief conversation about finding the perfect baseball cap, Todd shares the latest WI gubernatorial non-announcement. Former Governor Tommy Thompson hasn’t said he will run, but he hasn’t said he won’t. Todd believes that this is just an effort to remain relevant and that Tommy Thompson won’t run for a fifth term as governor.  At the bottom of the hour, we are joined by Kyle LaFond. He is the Founder, President, and CEO of Natural Contract Manufacturing and American Provenance, as well as a member of Main Street Alliance. As a business owner in Wisconsin, he has been directly impacted by President Trump’s tariffs and has an acute understanding of how they hurt his customers. As many of us know, the Trump administration is moving to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which would dramatically affect the way Americans get information.
