Are We Overreacting To Trump’s Actions? Probably Not. (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, so we meet up once again with Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project. Here in Wisconsin, AI data centers have been a controversial topic. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Microsoft is electing not to build a new AI data center in Caledonia after civilian protests. Our trio walk through the pros and cons of building these centers. Zooming out to the rest of the Midwest, President Trump is calling for prominent Illinois Democrats to be jailed for expressing opposing views. As frequent listeners know, Trygve has a lot of experience fighting authoritarianism in Eastern Europe. He shares his unique perspective on this administration’s dangerous actions. The Internet Is Forever, Tom Tiffany (Hour 2)
Today is National Taco Day, so Todd asks us What’s Worse: hard shell tacos or soft shell tacos? We take your calls and texts on which version of the messy hand food bothers you more. At the bottom of the hour, Todd takes a moment to recognize that today marks two years since the deadly Hamas attack in Israel. While the Netanyahu administration’s actions since the attack have been unconscionable, the initial attack was still also a tragedy. After that conversation, we return back to Wisconsin with some of Dan Bice’s latest work at the Journal Sentinel. As Tom Tiffany’s gubernatorial campaign picks up, his stances on controversial issues have vanished from his website. While archives of his website still exist on the internet addressing his platform on immigration, guns, and other touchy issues, Tiffany’s public persona is shifting towards the center. Todd walks through why this may be dangerous to Democrats. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Restoring Housing For Our Vets with Brittany Carloni (Hour 1)
Last night, the Milwaukee Brewers took game two of the NLDS by storm, pulling ahead in a commanding 2-0 lead against the Chicago Cubs. Todd takes us through the story of the game and sets us up for tomorrow’s rematch in Chicago. At the bottom of the hour, we’re excited to introduce Brittany Carloni, the new State Government and Politics Reporter over at Wisconsin Watch. A Milwaukee native, Brittany spent some time reporting in other areas of the country before returning home. Today, she’s here to talk about her latest article detailing our state’s struggles to fund housing for homeless veterans. The latest bill to fund this initiative passed out of committee today, but will it make it all the way into law? On Sharing Our Blessings With Others (Hour 2)
This past weekend, Todd returned to his hometown of Richland Center, where he was honored as an Outstanding Alum from UW-Richland Center. Today, he brings it up only to remind us of all of the people who provided him opportunities to grow. In our own lives, we must remember the people who help us along the way and do our best to open those same doors to others. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: high school reunions or no high school reunions? To wrap up today’s show, Todd updates us on the latest doings of Rep. Glenn Grothman and Speaker Robin Vos. Mondays with Matenaer – Brewer Fever and Drag Brunch (Hour 1)
Saturday’s Brewers game was an absolute blowout, putting Milwaukee up 1-0 in this series against the Cubs. We take a listen to comments from Cubs manager Craig Counsell and Brewers manager Pat Murphy on how they and their teams are approaching this series. Pat Murphy in particular has some hilarious comments about why he skips pregame formalities with his players. At the bottom of the hour, our friend and colleague Jane joins us for another edition of Mondays with Matenaer! She and Todd talk about what it was like when the Brewers made their World Series run in ‘82. They also weigh in on last week’s Chicago ICE raid that still remains largely unreported in mainstream media. Craig Counsell Comes Back To Milwaukee (Hour 2)
Todd kicks off our second hour with some quick news stories that we should all be aware of. After yesterday’s discussion on Chicago ICE raids, Madison police have confirmed that ICE also visited our state’s capital, allegedly detaining seven people. In other Wisconsin news, Kwik Trip has responded to the discontinuation of pennies by rounding down to the nearest nickel on cash purchases. At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media Sports Reporter Mike Clemens calls in to give us the scoop as we head into what will surely be a historic weekend in baseball. Mike was producing coverage of the Brewers’ World Series run in ‘82, and he couldn’t be more excited to cover their postseason clash with the Cubs beginning this weekend. All About The World Dairy Expo with Pam Jahnke (Hour 1)
Before last year’s presidential election, we talked a lot about Project 2025, a dastardly plan by The Heritage Foundation to reshape America and destroy much of what our nation has built. Many MAGA conservatives tried to claim that it wasn’t real or that Donald Trump had nothing to do with it. However, as we can see in real time, the agenda is well underway. According to AP News, President Trump is now openly embracing the initiative. At the bottom of the hour, we shift away from politics to welcome the Fabulous Farm Babe and Director of the Midwest Farm Report, Pam Jahnke! Today, the World Dairy Expo in Madison is wrapping up, and there’s nobody better to tell us about it than Pam. It’s a much larger affair than you might think. “Shoo-sees and Sha-see-mees” (Hour 2)
Todd opens up our second hour with some news we can use! The federal government has shut down, but WISN has some information on which services are still available. You can still get a passport or send mail, for example. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: rare beef or sashimi? Well, actually, he has another question first: what is sashimi? Zommers bestows some knowledge on Todd regarding raw fish consumption before we take your calls and texts on which raw food turns your stomach. At the bottom of the hour, we cover a surprising proposal from a few Wisconsin GOP legislators to legalize medicinal marijuana. Where Is National News When We Need It? (Hour 1)
Once again, Todd broadcasts live from beautiful Shawano, Wisconsin! There’s a lot of news to cover today, but first of all, former Republican Governor Tommy Thompson is “seriously looking at” another run. If elected, he would be 85 years old when taking office in 2027. Todd says that while this may not be the smartest political move, you can never count Tommy out of the race. After the gubernatorial discussion, Todd moves to a huge story that is severely underreported in national news. According to a local Chicago ABC affiliate, ICE conducted a horrific raid last night on South Shore apartment buildings. After arriving via helicopter and vans, ICE agents allegedly detained everybody in the apartment– including children– before releasing many of them early in the morning. Todd takes your calls with thoughts on this event and its concerning absence from the news. Transforming Lives with Housing – Rep. Rivera-Wagner (Hour 2)
This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: overhead lighting or lamps? We take your calls and texts with a heated discussion. At the bottom of the hour, Representative Amaad Rivera-Wagner returns to tell us about his latest proposal to alleviate Wisconsin’s housing crisis. As someone who experienced homelessness in his youth, Rep. Rivera-Wagner is very aware of the struggles that many in our state face. His bill to help lower-income families and individuals secure housing has true bipartisan support, reminding us that our political divides are not insurmountable. No, Pat Kreitlow Isn’t Running For Office Again (Hour 1)
It’s Hump Day, and we all know what that means: a visit from Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project. After some brief monkey business, our crew talks about the latest GOP-caused federal government shutdown. The situation is rife with lies and misdirections, so Pat and Trygve help us cut through the crap. In Wisconsin political news, Pat and Trygve weigh in on the premature finish of Bill Berrien’s gubernatorial campaign. They also overview the ever-expanding Democratic primary field. Yesterday, President Trump and Secretary Hegseth brought all military flag officers to a huge meeting. We share some audio from both of them, and it’s just as bizarre as we expected. Trygve compares it to his lived experiences in authoritarian countries around the world. Saving Knowles-Nelson with Alex Madorsky (Hour 2)
Todd kicks off today’s second hour with another Wisconsin sports update, focusing this time on Badger football and basketball. As we all know, the introduction of the transfer portal and lucrative name, image, and likeness deals have fundamentally altered college sports. UW Madison is doing its best to adapt, but it has its share of struggles. Todd breaks down the messy situation. After finishing the sports update, Todd welcomes Alex Madorsky back to the show! As Associate Director of Government Relations for the Nature Conservancy, Alex is on top of conservation efforts in our state. As we’ve covered on this program previously, the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund is in jeopardy following its excision from the state budget. This is an issue that affects every Wisconsinite with an appreciation for nature. Both Republicans and Democrats have proposals on how best to continue the Stewardship Fund. Alex walks us through some of the key differences and what we as constituents can do to ensure our natural resources are well taken care of. What This Government Shutdown Means To Wisconsin (Hour 1)
Todd is out on family business today, so he and Zommers are using the magic of recorded audio to keep it rolling. The show must go on! With several days off for Wisconsin baseball and football teams, Todd recaps the record-breaking Milwaukee Brewers season. With some help from analysts at The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he offers some predictions on the post-season lineup and shares his hopes for the Brew Crew. At the bottom of the hour, National Campaigns Director for Main Street Action Shawn Phetteplace returns for an update on how our state’s small businesses are faring. Right now, many of their biggest struggles come from bad federal policies from the Trump administration. Wisconsin’s own Derrick Van Orden voted for these dangerous laws, and Main Street Action is working to hold him accountable. On top of that, at the time of recording, the government is approaching yet another shutdown amidst budget disagreements. Shawn lays out how this will further impact our state before giving some tips on how to support our main streets in the coming months. At the bottom of the hour, Todd visits the world of Gen Z social media to examine their political messaging. Introducing: Mondays with Matenaer! (Hour 1)
This Monday, Todd catches us up on a very eventful weekend for Wisconsin sports. The Green Bay Packers unexpectedly tied the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. While this doesn’t make the team look good, we all need to remember that it’s early in the season and anything can happen. On the other hand, the Milwaukee Brewers made franchise history with a total of 97 wins, clinching home-field advantage as we head into the playoffs. At the bottom of the hour, we are excited to kick off Mondays with Matenaer, featuring Wisconsin broadcasting legend Jane Matenaer! She so diligently promotes other Civic Media programs, and we thought it was high time we did the same for her. Additionally, time talking with Jane is time well spent. Todd and Jane chat about golf, Jane’s European travels, and how they deal with the non-stop deluge of nonsense in the news. Another One Bites The Dust (Hour 1)
After a week of controversy, Wisconsin businessman Bill Berrien announced that he is no longer running for governor. It turns out that Wisconsinites have had enough of his hypocrisy. Bill, it’s okay to enjoy adult content as long as everything is consensual. What’s not okay is backing legislation to ban other people from doing it. In other news that broke right before the show, broadcast company Sinclair has decided to do the right thing and bring Jimmy Kimmel back to their stations. Clearly, their decisions all come down to self-preservation. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. At the bottom of the hour, Cracked.com writer/editor Keegan Kelly joins us again to follow up on Jimmy Kimmel’s return to TV. Hegseth To Pull Flag Officers From The Field (Hour 1)
To kick off today’s show, we are joined by our friend Matt Flynn, a lawyer, author, and two-time state Democratic party chair. Importantly, Matt is also a Navy veteran, and we ask for his perspective on a highly unusual move by the Trump administration. According to The Washington Post, Sec. Pete Hegseth has invited approximately 800 military officials– including those stationed overseas– to an urgent meeting with no stated purpose. Pulling decision makers out of dangerous situations around the world could have disastrous consequences. Coming up in a few weeks, Matt will be promoting his latest book at Boswell Books in Milwaukee. Check it out at boswellbooks.com! At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media Political Editor and Founder of The Recombobulation Area Dan Shafer returns for another round of recombobulation. His latest piece details his thoughts on Tom Tiffany’s newly-announced run for governor. Dan says that he thinks Rep. Tiffany is the clear leader in the GOP primary, but has some major roadblocks in the general election. What’s Worse: Big Cars Or Little Cars? (Hour 2)
As we talked about yesterday, Jimmy Kimmel returned to the airwaves on most TV stations last night. We take a moment to review some of his comments on his suspension, the death of Charlie Kirk, and the government’s role in free speech. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: big cars or little cars? We take your calls and texts on how you prefer to travel. We wrap up today’s show by sharing part of a discussion between legendary broadcaster Bob Costas and Brewers Manager Pat Murphy remembering Bob Uecker. The Whole World Is Still Laughing At Us (Hour 1)
As always on Wednesdays, Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project join us to catch up on the latest political news. Firstly, we look at the latest candidate to join our state’s gubernatorial race. Pat and Trygve both believe Rep. Tom Tiffany has an incredibly long road ahead of him if he wants to convince the average Wisconsinite that he’s “normal.” This month’s most underreported story is the approaching federal budget deadline. In less than a week, the government will shut down yet again if our legislators can’t get their act together. Todd, Pat, and Trygve walk through what they think may happen. We also take some time to cover more of President Trump’s unhinged remarks at yesterday’s United Nations summit. Our president is incapable of acting in a civilized manner, and other world leaders no longer look to America as the leader of the free world. Free Speech in Football and Television (Hour 1)
As Wisconsin sports fans are all too aware of, the Badgers have been having a rough few seasons of football under coach Luke Fickell. In their last game, the student section began booing and chanting “fire Fickell” when it became clear they were losing against an unranked team. Former coach Barry Alvarez went on ESPN Madison, making his distaste for this behavior clear. While we agree that it’s good to support your favorite teams even when they struggle, there’s more nuance to this. Todd walks us through the surprisingly far-reaching consequences of a struggling college sports program and asks Badger fans whether or not these chants cross a line. At the bottom of the hour, Todd turns back to a topic that has been escalating since the assassination of Charlie Kirk: free speech. In yesterday’s show, we broke the news that Jimmy Kimmel will return to the airwaves tonight after being “indefinitely suspended” under what appears to be government coercion. Some TV networks have chosen to stick by that original decision and will not carry his show. Even though Kimmel is back on air, this attack on free speech is not over. Todd shares his thoughts, as well as those of other late night hosts. No Packers No Life – Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery (Hour 2)
As we kick off our second hour, we bring you some breaking news: Jimmy Kimmel’s “indefinite” suspension has ended and his show will return tomorrow evening. After an awful performance by the Wisconsin Badgers this weekend, Todd asks us What’s Worse: the 2025 Badgers football team or the 1989 Badgers football team? The people who brought us Just A Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers are back with another Wisconsin sports film! At the bottom of the hour, we’re thrilled to welcome filmmakers Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery back to the program to announce their latest project: No Packers No Life. This film details the story of a group of diehard Packers fans in Tokyo, and how they ended up coming to Green Bay. Three’s Company: starring Bill Berrien (Hour 1)
Over the weekend, the Milwaukee Brewers clinched the NL Central for the third year in a row. Todd walks us through what Pat Murphy and the Brew Crew are saying as they head into the postseason. In political news, Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Bill Berrien has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar– or perhaps a few jars. Despite publicly echoing the Trump administration’s puritan sexual philosophy and anti-trans rhetoric, Berrien’s social media accounts tell another story. At the bottom of the hour, Wisconsin Watch Reporter Natalie Yahr joins us to share her latest article. In this story, Natalie looks at new difficulties faced by minority students. Several universities around the state currently rely on federal grants to support Hispanic students, providing a route to higher education for those who have historically had less access. President Trump’s Department of Education is now ending those programs. Despite this roadblock, several of our state’s schools have pledged to maintain their support of the growing number of Hispanic students. If you come early at 5:30, Phil will be hosting a live edition of his Saturday night show, Those Were The Days! Taking the time to understand people we disagree with helps us remember that great things happen in our communities every day. Last night, it was announced that late night host Jimmy Kimmel’s show has been “indefinitely suspended” following a brief comment on the assassination of Charlie Kirk. You can listen for yourself, but Kimmel does not in any way lie or condone last week’s horrific act of violence. Here to break it all down is Cracked.com Writer/Editor Keegan Kelly, who previously joined us to discuss the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s program. Deciding not to renew a show is one thing, but pulling the plug in an afternoon marks a new era of government censorship. Media corporations like Skydance, Nexstar, and Disney appear to have no issue kneeling to President Trump’s wishes to make as much money as possible at any moral cost. On that note, we are proud to work for Civic Media, who continue to reaffirm their commitment to honesty and transparency every day. This morning, our COO Kory Hartman sent the following to our talk show hosts and producers: “We believe in freedom of speech and freedom of the press and we stand behind our hosts. As always, double-check facts, be transparent with our listeners, and invite them to join the conversation.” Yet another candidate for Wisconsin Governor has emerged in Representative Francesca Hong. We are happy to welcome her to share why she is running for Governor. Learn more about her campaign at francescahong.com. Bad Budgets and Bad Smells (Hour 2)
At the end of this month, Congress faces yet another shutdown if they can’t get their act together and pass a budget. Believe it or not, no federal government has successfully passed a budget by the deadline since 1996. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: a bad smell or a bad taste? We take your calls and texts over which one is easier to get rid of. At the bottom of the hour, we take a quick look into what’s going on at eBaum’s World. In the last few months, they’ve started a “spicy” side of the site, which contains NSFW content that is generally not suitable for broadcast. However, their recent interview with an adult performer regarding ethical nonmonogamy has piqued Todd’s interest. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, as we may welcome an adult performer to the show in the near future. We might even have to reach out to Joe Gow! After our brief escapade into acceptable adultery, Todd returns to sports. According to Lori Nickel at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a Wisconsin-based Olympic speed skater has recovered from a potentially career-ending injury. Something Bad Is Happening In Oz (Hour 1)
This afternoon, Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project make their typical Wednesday visit to our program. This morning, Rep. Francesca Hong announced her candidacy for Governor of Wisconsin on Mornings with Pat Kreitlow. As more candidates come out of the woodwork, the Democratic primary is becoming very crowded. A successful campaign will have to travel beyond the big Democratic bases of Madison and Milwaukee. Pat and Trygve also weigh in on the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. People in a variety of industries both public and private are being fired for quoting Kirk on social media, and often without any commentary included. Congressman Derrick Van Orden is introducing legislation to claw back federal funding from the entire community of Eau Claire because of a handful of social media posts containing only quotes. Remembering Robert Redford with Pete Schwaba (Hour 2)
In today’s second hour, Todd plays a clip from legendary sports broadcaster Jim Nantz on a generational shift in which media careers people aspire to. With the rise of social media and podcasts, young people seem to be drawn to being famous rather than being a good storyteller. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: subscriptions or purchases? We take your calls and texts on whether you’d rather pay as you go or all at once. At the bottom of the hour, Pete Schwaba of Nite Lite joins us to remember actor and director Robert Redford, who passed away this morning at 89. Staying Engaged In Your Community with Dale Schultz (Hour 1)
Last week, we covered the assassination of Conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Over the weekend, the online vitriol and disinformation continued to escalate. To make matters worse, it’s very difficult to verify facts when we can’t rely on governmental agencies for truthful reporting. We begin today’s show with some transparency about how we approach the constant flood of negative news. At the bottom of the hour, former State Senate Majority Leader (and Todd’s old boss) Dale Schultz returns to share some of his unfortunate political experiences. While in office, he received death threats. We walk through how he dealt with it and what we can do to reconnect with our neighbors. At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media Sports Reporter Mike Clemens calls in to report on the Packers and their great win last night. Cooler Heads Prevail with Dan Shafer (Hour 1)
This Friday, Civic Media Political Editor and Founder of The Recombobulation Area Dan Shafer joins us live in-studio for the first hour! Firstly, he and Todd recap the latest information on the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The alleged shooter, a 22-year-old white male from a Mormon family, has been identified and captured. Reactions online and on the news have been varied, to say the least. Todd and Dan choose to lower the temperature, decrying senseless gun violence regardless of who perpetrates it. We must wait until the facts are out before jumping to conclusions. Over at www.therecombobulationarea.news, guest writer Emily Tseffos shares her thoughts on what our nation’s response should be to continued violence. Life Is Crazy. Don’t Be Afraid To Take A Break (Hour 1)
If you or anybody you know is going through a mental health crisis, don’t hesitate to call or text the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988. You’re worth it. BREAKING NEWS: A small single-engine aircraft went down approximately 12 nautical miles into Lake Michigan after departing from Milwaukee. According to WISN-12, the three people aboard the aircraft have been rescued and are being evaluated at a Coast Guard station. Today is a very trying day for many of us. Yesterday, conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Not 30 minutes later, a school shooting occurred at a Colorado high school. In the midst of all of this chaos, we cannot forget that today is the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. None of us are built to be in crisis mode all of the time. Todd takes your calls as we sort through the emotions of the day and look for ways to turn down the temperature. BREAKING: Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk Shot (Hour 1)
Todd begins today’s show with some breaking news: Conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been shot while speaking at a Utah university. As we begin the show, his condition is unknown. As we have said many times before, there is no place for violence in our political system. As always on Wednesdays, we are joined by Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project, who first share their thoughts on this tragedy and the immediate media response. As Trygve says, political violence is antithetical to the mission of the founding fathers. The ballot box exists to resolve conflict peacefully. Pat reminds us that while Charlie Kirk is known for spreading violent rhetoric, bullets are not going to change his mind or anybody else’s. At the bottom of the hour, Todd and Trygve turn to violence occurring elsewhere in the world. Last night, a number of Russian drones made their way through Polish airspace before being shot down. This marks the first time a member of NATO has fired a weapon in the Russian-Ukrainian war. While on air, a second shooting occurred at a Colorado high school, resulting in at least two student injuries. Todd begins today’s second hour with a tribute to his friend Linda Gentes, who passed away this weekend at the age of 76. She was a great mentor to those students and to Todd personally and will be remembered for her incredible positive impact on the community. Take a moment to think before getting behind the wheel, and you will save lives. Our friend and colleague Pat Kreitlow will be interviewing Executive Crowley tomorrow morning on Mornings with Pat Kreitlow at 8:50. We will also be interviewing him tomorrow afternoon. After touching on Executive Crowley’s campaign announcement, we catch up with some national politics. Sec.
