Ep 405: How To Cure Your Addiction To Feeling Behind (best of the podcast)

E

While perfectionists want everything in their lives to be perfectly organised, the irony is that they actually stop themselves from creating this reality - without even realising it! And one of the reasons they do this is because of their secret addiction to feeling behind. Most perfectionists would swear that they don't want to feel behind, so it can be confronting to realise that you might be manufacturing behindness (if that's a word!) in your life. In this episode I'm talking about why we do this, 2 signs that you're secretly addicted to chaos and what to do about it. In This Episode You'll Learn: Why perfectionists can become addicted to feeling behind The sneaky ways perfectionists make themselves feel more behind The real reason you never feel completely organised How feeling behind is secretly serving you Two ways that the addiction to feeling behind manifests for perfectionists How to stop being addicted to feeling behind Featured In The Episode: Join the waitlist for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject

Ep 404: Perfectionism, Power Planning + PGSD with Kristen Cain (best of the podcast)

E

In this episode I'm interviewing Kristen Cain, a style coach and committed PGSDer, on all things perfectionism and Power Planning. Kristen heard me talking about PGSD on this podcast for an entire year before she signed up. Kristen listened diligently to every episode, worked hard to apply what she learned to her business and started to make progress with her perfectionism handbrake. If anyone was going to change their life with the help of the podcast, it was Kristen. During that year as a podcast listener she rebranded her business, created a new website, started offering mini styling packages and began showing up on instagram more often (though she still ghosted her followers from time to time). But in Kristen's words, she was in a familiar place for perfectionists: "I was doing all the pretty, fun things so that I didn't have to do the scary stuff that would actually help me be successful". Here's what happened once she joined… Within 3 months of being inside PGSD, Kristen was planning properly as a perfectionist: ✔ Kristen had a clear goal that gave her direction, clarity and focus ✔ She created pricing that she felt confident in AND got her styling clients better results ✔ She started signing styling clients with her new packages and pricing ✔ And she made her investment back Within 6 months of being inside PGSD, Kristen was having her most successful year in business (ever). She was consistently uploading videos to her YouTube channel every week, sending her weekly newsletter without fail, confidently promoting her services and was even approached by a random person at the grocery store who'd been loving her IG lives. And 1 year after joining PGSD, Kristen is signing $2,000 styling clients directly from her YouTube videos. This is something she never thought would be possible for her. This kind of growth is possible for you to… To build your business to $100k you need to get out of your own way. And anyone can learn how inside PGSD. If you resonate with what Kristen and I talk about in this episode - and what I talk about on this podcast - and you're ready to get out of your own way then I invite you to join us inside PGSD. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode404. In This Episode You'll Learn: What 'getting in your own way' looked like for Kristen The reason Kristen signed up for PGSD even though she 'couldn't afford it' Where perfectionism work fits in when it comes to building your business Why Kristen felt overwhelmed when she first started Power Planning The difference between listening to this podcast and being in PGSD Featured In The Episode: Sign up for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Book a sales call - calendly.com/pgsd/call Kristen's instagram: @kristencainstyle Kristen's website: kristencainstyle.com Kristen getting coached - Episode 280 of The Perfectionism Project Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject Announcement: PGSD is open for enrollment for one week only If you feel behind on your $100k goal, it's just because nobody's taught you the different productivity rules that apply to perfectionists. Ep 403: Why All Perfectionists Need A Growth Goal + The PGSD Experience with Jenn Baswick

E

In today's episode, I interview PGSDer Jenn Baswick all about her Growth Goal and experience inside PGSD. Our most successful PGSDers are business owners who LOVE being productive and yet find themselves struggling to make the most of their time due to their perfectionism handbrake. And this was definitely the case for Jenn. Jenn is a registered dietitian and before she signed up for PGSD in December 2022, she'd tried everything she could to build her business. She invested in business programs to help her setup her business correctly and market it the right way plus she tried every productivity tool from to-do lists to time blocking to Asana to Notion. And yet her business still wasn't growing in the way she knew it could… Even though Jenn 'knew' what she needed to do, she wasn't able to turn her knowledge into business growth - even though she was always busy working. In today's episode of The Perfectionism Project, you'll hear from Jenn and I discuss… ✔ The hidden reason why to-do lists, time blocking, asana and notion didn't work for Jenn ✔ All the ways releasing her perfectionism handbrake has made Jenn more productive ✔ When Jenn realised that releasing her perfectionism handbrake was a must for her business Jenn also shares how PGSD helped her make double her revenue goal - all while navigating the transition from offering 1:1 services to a group program. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode403. P.S. I know how scary it can feel to set a Growth Goal and go all-in on your business. 2018 was the year I got sick of getting in my own way and decided I needed to either go all-in or quit (and I was never going to quit). So I want you to know that inside PGSD you will be fully supported in setting your Growth Goal and showing up consistently for your business without burning out. Ep 392: How To Figure Out The Next Steps To Build Your Business

E

"I don't know if I should keep doing what I'm doing OR is now actually the right time to be doing something different?" This is a question we perfectionist business owners often ask ourselves, no matter what stage our business is at. How do we know if we should persist with the business strategy we've chosen or if we should make changes instead? Using superthinking can help you figure out the answer for yourself so you can keep growing your business! If you've listened to other episodes on my podcast, you might have heard me mention superthinking. Essentially superthinking is coming up with a hypothesis to solve a business problem, trusting that hypothesis, then coming up with a way to test and measure it. You then take the results of your superthinking and take action in your business. This is a way for you to lean into your own wisdom as you build your business. It's something we all do at some level, but it's often easier for our brains to think the same thoughts of 'I'm feeling stuck' or 'I'm feeling behind' and coast along. I go into more detail about superthinking, as well as how to use it to figure out your next steps, as I coach PGSDer Kristen (@kristencainstyle on Instagram) in this episode. I also share what was coming up for me in my business at that time and give you a reframe to uplevel your superthinking and how you're showing up for your business. If you can't seem to figure out what to do to grow your business, this episode is for you. Note: Thank you Kristen for giving me permission to share this call on the podcast, I appreciate you! Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode391. In This Episode You'll Learn: Getting into self-trust mode and how it helps you show up for your business What to focus on when assessing how much you believe in your goals How to use superthinking to figure out the next steps to building your business Why it's normal to feel resistance to superthinking Why it's easier to take coaching on board when you're listening to others get coached Featured In The Episode: Kristen's youtube: @KristenCainStyle Kristen's instagram: @kristencainstyle Kristen's website: kristencainstyle.com Sign up for The Power Planning Course - samlaurabrown.com/powerplanning Join the waitlist for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power

Ep 391: How Power Planning Took My Business From $100k Per Year To $100k Months

E

Before Power Planning, I often got in my own way in my business. I worked in stops and starts, I waited until the last minute to get the most important things done, I kept burning myself out from all the pressure I put on myself and I had countless planners that I abandoned after three weeks of filling them out perfectly. Then I came to realise (1) I'm a perfectionist and (2) being a perfectionist meant I couldn't follow the same planning advice as everyone else. And that's when everything started clicking into place… I was already good at planning - I just needed to figure out how to plan in a way that got my perfectionist mindset on my side so I could do all the things I needed to do… When I created what I now call Power Planning, 90% of the problems I was having with procrastination, overthinking and burnout just dissolved. Once I learned how to plan in a way that got my perfectionist mindset working FOR me (instead of against me), I woke up each morning feeling clear on exactly what I needed to do and went to bed feeling productive and accomplished. Instead of losing time every day to overthinking and busywork, I was getting shit done consistently and sustainably. I was finally acting like the CEO I'd always wanted to be. And my revenue couldn't help but reflect that… The fact that Power Planning meant I was having a productive week, every week, took my business from $100k per year to $100k MONTHS. All while working less hours than I ever had before. And I know for sure that if I had Power Planning from the beginning of my business it wouldn't have taken me so long (6 years!) to make my first $100,000. I share about this evolution in more detail - and how this led to creating The Power Planning Course - in today's episode. We especially wanted to share this episode because at the time of releasing this, this will be your last chance to join The Power Planning Course before it closes! The Power Planning Course is closing on 16 April at 11:59 New York Time. The Power Planning Course will be closing and will only be available inside of Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) my Group Coaching Program (doors re-open 12 June 2023). By the way… If you join The Power Planning Course now and decide to join PGSD one day in the future, you'll also receive $500 USD off PGSD. So if you've thinking about joining The Power Planning Course, don't miss out on this LAST opportunity to join while you still can! Ep 387: How To Know If You're Procrasti-Working?

E

Procrasti-working is when we work on our business as a form of procrastination. And if you do it, you're not alone. Perfectionist entrepreneurs don't procrastinate in the same ways as everyone else. Instead of avoiding work, we procrasti-work. This can look like scrambling to get all of your content created each week, moving sales tasks from one to-do list to the next or eating lunch at your desk while procrasti-learning something about marketing. This episode will teach you about the 3 types of procrasti-working. By the end of the episode, you'll know how to spot procrasti-working and my proven process for cutting it in half. Plus you'll learn why procrasti-working is a normal part of building a successful business (I still do it) and why zero procrastination is not the goal. In this episode I dissect procrastination advice from some of the top ranked articles on google and explain why this advice doesn't work for perfectionists. The episode is worth listening to for this alone. All you need to do is hit play… Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode387. Ep 385: Creating The Feeling Of Completeness Even When Everything Isn't Done

E

In Episode 378, I talked about when following through with the plans we've made with ourselves can be an act of self-care - particularly when you have anything going on in your life that's making operating at your normal capacity a challenge. Today's episode continues that conversation, and I talk about when you determine that productivity is *not* an act of self-care and how you can create a sense of completeness even when everything isn't done. Tune in to hear what that can look like for you. Sometimes productivity is an act of self-care and sometimes it isn't. And I found the second was the case for me a couple of days before I took time off from my business. At that time, I had work I really wanted to do but hadn't finished and I'd need to work more days than I'd planned to get everything done. I walk you through the experience I had solving this, including the questions I asked myself and the breakthroughs I had. By the end of this episode, you'll learn how you can feel like you can switch off from work (whether that's the end of a workday or right before a longer break) - even when the plans you had set for yourself weren't complete. You'll learn about developing the ability to say when enough is enough, and how to make that decision in an empowering way. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode385. In This Episode You'll Learn: Making the distinction between putting off and deliberately moving a task The questions I worked through to create a feeling of completeness for myself Why creating a feeling of completeness WON'T make you less productive Why we pressure ourselves to finish things and where that inclination comes from How to set boundaries on your work in an empowering way Featured In The Episode: Episode 378: How To Determine When Productivity Is An Act of Self-Care + When It's Not Sign up for The Power Planning Course - samlaurabrown.com/powerplanning Join the waitlist for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject

Ep 384: 10 Ways My Self-Image Had To Evolve So My Business Could Grow

E

Self-image is something we talk about a lot in my Perfectionists Getting Shit Done Group Coaching Program. The reason for that is the story we tell about ourselves impacts our beliefs, feelings, actions and ultimately, the results we create in our business. These all flow from how we see ourselves, whether we're conscious of it or not. This is particularly true for perfectionists. When we try to make changes while skipping the self-image work, perfectionists often won't sustain these changes long-term. Eventually we'll go back to the habits and actions we had before. That's why in this episode, I'm sharing the 10 ways I had to work on my own self-image to become the person who has the business I have today. Changing these 10 different areas made such a difference in my business journey, and listening in could help you uncover the self-image work you need to do to grow your business. If you find you're having lots of breakthroughs in your business and they're challenging to sustain, this episode was made for you. Tune in today. Ep 383: 7 Subtle Ways Fear of Judgement Shows Up In Business

E

Fear of judgement is one of the five signs of perfectionism, and this can show up in different ways. Today, I wanted to chat about the 7 hidden ways I see this coming up for myself and my clients in Perfectionists Getting Shit Done, so you have more awareness about fear of judgement and how this is showing up in your business. People talk about perfectionism being fear of judgement or failure. But it's really a strategy to avoid the painful feeling of shame we think will come if we are judged by others. When our perfectionism handbrake is on, we are masters at judging ourselves and feeling like something must be wrong with us. It's a thought pattern our brains are used to, based on the beliefs we have about ourselves. If you are experiencing fear of judgement in your business, know that there's nothing wrong with you. I share more in this episode, as well as why popular advice on this isn't helpful for perfectionists and practical things you can do instead. E

A big vision creates a solid foundation for your business, and impacts your business's long-term growth. It helps you become clear about your business, in ways that are aligned with your values. If you have trouble setting a clear and specific vision for your business, tune in to hear my journey to becoming someone who is not only committed to my long-term business plans, but willing to share them publicly. Ep 380: 5 Perfectionist Beliefs I Had To Release In Order To Build My Team

E

In today's episode, I share 5 perfectionist beliefs I had to release in order to build my team. These beliefs stem from perfectionist thinking around tasks, team members, and other parts of our day to day business. They inform the decisions we make (whether we're aware we believe them or not), and those decisions will then have a big impact on our business and clients. These beliefs will also have us spending a lot of time on busywork and other things that aren't the best use of our time. As perfectionist business owners, they can hold us back in so many ways. If you are in the process of building your team and growing your business, listen in for the 5 beliefs I want you to be looking out for. Ep 378: How To Determine When Productivity Is An Act of Self-Care + When It's Not

E

In this episode, I wanted to chat with you about something I've been going through while being 32 weeks pregnant with twins. I've noticed I'm asking myself this question: when is it an act of self-care for me to be productive and when is it an act of self-care instead to change my plans and take clean rest? When we perfectionists are not operating at our normal capacity, it can be a challenge to discern the answer to this question for ourselves. This is especially when we need to tune in to ourselves, put aside the pressure we can put on ourselves to be and do things a certain way, and give ourselves some grace and compassion. Sometimes that grace and compassion means changing our plans, taking our clean rest and doing the things our brains are telling us to do. Other times, that means following through with the plans we made even if we don't feel like it in the moment. And in this episode, I share how I determine which choice to make. Tune in to hear about the questions that help me figure out whether to follow my plans or not, a trick I use to get myself to do the work I had planned, and the highest act of self-care you can do for yourself in a similar situation. If you have health issues, family commitments or anything else going on in your life that's making operating at your normal capacity a challenge, this episode is for you. Ep 377: The Power Planning Course Is Officially Here!

E

I'm so excited to share the details of what I've been working on behind the scenes for you - because it's FINALLY AVAILABLE! Until now the full Power Planning Method has been exclusively taught to PGSDers only but… As of today, you can learn everything you need to know about Power Planning by signing up for The Power Planning Course. Tune into the episode to hear more about why so many people have asked me to create this course and the reason I'm finally doing it. When you're Power Planning, every hour you put into your business is worth double! Imagine if the effort you put into your *40 hour* work week had the same return as an *80 hour* work week, all because your Power Planning got your perfectionist mindset on your side and has given you the clarity and confidence that was needed to stay focused on what matters most. Now imagine that this was your normal week, every week, and you never burned out. Your $10k month would become a $20k+ month and your revenue wouldn't stop growing - all because you started using Power Planning to get out of your own way. The best thing about Power Planning is that it will get your perfectionist mindset on your side and have you doing everything you need to do, consistently and sustainably, for the entire year. With Power Planning, the hard work you put into your business is guaranteed to pay off. I'm 100% certain that if I had Power Planning from the beginning of my business it wouldn't have taken me so long (6 years!) to make my first $100,000! I've made over $1.5 million in my business since I started doing what I now call Power Planning - and I want that for you too… (This is why I've included two special workshops on "Power Planning Your Way To Your First 100k Year" and "Power Planning Your Way To 100k Months & Beyond" when you sign up. And you don't have to wait to get started with Power Planning. The Power Planning Course is designed so that you can sit down with your favourite drink and, in just one afternoon, learn everything you need to learn to start Power Planning right away! In case you didn't know, perfectionists can't follow the same planning advice as everyone else. When we do, we get in our own way! I used to think that the reason I worked in stops and starts and left the most important things until the last minute was because I had a motivation problem. But then I realised that my motivation problem was just a planning problem in disguise! The long to-do lists, paper planners and time blocking (to name just a few) that worked so well for non-perfectionists were actually MAKING me get in my own way. Once I learned how to plan in a way that got my perfectionist mindset working for me (instead of against me), I was able to get everything done consistently and sustainably - even when I wasn't feeling motivated. Thanks to Power Planning, the hard work I was putting into my business finally started paying off. And now this is possible for you too! Power Planning is all you need to make 2023 the year you get out of your own way and do all the things you need to do, consistently and sustainably, week after week after week. Ep 376: The Importance Of A Growth Goal + How To Tell Whether It's Working (best of the podcast)

E

With the new year right around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to reshare an episode that I published earlier this year all about the Growth Goal. If you want to get out of your own way in your business, setting a Growth Goal is the first step (this is why you'll be guided through the process of setting your Growth Goal in one of the modules of my soon-to-be-released self-study course on Power Planning). In this episode I'm going to be talking about the importance of a Growth Goal and some of the signs it's working to get you out of your own way in your business. If you're a PGSDer, or you've been listening to this podcast for a while, you'll be familiar with a concept that I teach called the Impossible Goal. The Impossible Goal is a goal that is set above what is possible for yourself. And by setting a goal in that way, we're asking ourselves to grow into the person that can achieve that goal - rather than setting a 'realistic' goal that our present day self could achieve. This goal does wonders when it comes to taking your perfectionism work from an intellectual pursuit to a day-to-day practice. And from now on, we're going to be calling it a Growth Goal. In this episode, I share why I'm changing the name and what's normal to expect as you pursue your Growth Goal. In This Episode You'll Learn: Why the Impossible Goal is now called the Growth Goal How to tell if you've set your Growth Goal too high The 5 stages of pursuing your Growth Goal and why each one is part of the process Why it's worth pursuing a Growth Goal even with the ups and downs When The Power Planning Course is launching Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode376. Ep 375: 3 New Year Myths That Will Stop You From Getting A Fresh Start

E

I love that New Year's fresh start feeling as much as the next perfectionist BUT we all know that January motivation doesn't last forever. And part of the reason that happens is because of a few common new year myths that we perfectionists can't help but buy into. If you want 2023 to be the year that you get out of your own way this is the episode for you. Tune into this episode to learn about 3 new myths that will stop you from getting a fresh start and how to avoid making them. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode375. In This Episode You'll Learn: Exactly why perfectionists love the new year so much How to capitalise on the new year without going into all-or-nothing thinking The real reason you can't rely on motivation and what to focus on instead What to focus on in the first month of the year so your ENTIRE year is productive How to create a goal that motivates you for the full year (and isn't one you just forget) Featured In The Episode: Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject

Ep 374: How To Pinpoint When Thinking Turns Into Overthinking

E

Overthinking is often how we get in our own way as perfectionists, especially when it comes to business. There's always something we can be overthinking in our business - that we can second-guess ourselves about and do more procrasti-learning on. Overthinking can come up in many ways and lead to us deviating from the needle movers that will grow our business. In today's episode, I talk about why perfectionists overthink and how to pinpoint when thinking turns into overthinking. I share exactly what you need to do to notice the exact moment it happens, including a few questions to ask yourself to gain awareness around it. You don't have to eliminate overthinking completely, but when you lessen overthinking, you'll feel more satisfied and fulfilled when you are working. And you'll get more done in less time without burning out. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode374. Ep 370: For When You're Comparing Yourself To Your Coach, Your Peers or Industry Experts

E

When it comes to how you approach your business tasks, do you compare yourself to your coach or others who 'know better' than you? Does it feel wrong to do things your way, because it's not how the industry experts you look up to do things? When we compare ourselves to others, it often happens subtly and can influence how we work on our business without us realising it. This can include the projects we work on, the way we talk to clients, and so many aspects of our business. People say we shouldn't compare ourselves to others, but I know as well as anyone how tempting it is to try to fit in with what everyone else is doing in your industry. It's how our brains are wired. So if you find you're comparing yourself to others in business, now what? I recently coached a PGSDer on this and I want to share what I guided her through so you can do things in a way that's easy for you - without making yourself wrong for doing things your way. By the end of this episode, you'll learn what to do if you're comparing yourself to others who 'know better', why doing things the way others do isn't the 'best' way for you, and how to be open-minded and coachable while doing things your way. Ep 368: [PGSD Enrollment Week] Why PGSDers Don't Get Overwhelmed (Even At The Busiest Times)

Overwhelm tends to be the emotional home for perfectionists. It stems from thoughts like: I don't know what to do I don't know where to start I don't have enough time I don't know if this will work I don't trust myself to follow my plans And Power Planning solves for all of these - which makes overwhelming thoughts harder to have and easier to let go of naturally… Our PGSDers don't get overwhelmed - even at the busiest times. It's not to say it's never an emotion they experience but, after three months of Power Planning, it's one that no longer causes any problems. I share how Power Planning naturally dissolves overwhelm in today's episode, just in time for the final 2022 enrollment week for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. Ep 367: [PGSD Enrollment Week] The 3 Kinds of Accountability Inside PGSD

E

PGSD will have you doing the most important tasks for your business in a consistent, sustainable, productive and courageous way. This is inevitable when you follow the PGSD Process: to plan properly, follow through 80% of the time, rest without guilt and repeat. And there are 3 types of accountability inside PGSD that will turn your new-found productivity into something that's sustainable long-term: Self-accountability Peer accountability Expert accountability A lot of perfectionists are worried that if they become more productive and more successful then it won't be sustainable. The 3 types of accountability you get inside PGSD make it easy to become someone who's getting shit done AND to do it sustainably, long-term. You're smart but there's only so much that information can help you with… Accountability, coaching and support is what turns knowing into DOING. I talk more about the 3 kinds of accountability inside PGSD and how they'll help you get out of your own way long-term in today's episode. Ep 365: [PGSD Enrollment Week] How PGSDers Get Everything Done Without Burning Out

E

Perfectionists love the feeling of momentum… We love the feeling that the work we're doing is adding up to something and making a difference. We love knowing that the time we're spending isn't going to waste. What creates momentum is being able to take all of our business ideas, single out the most important one, trust that we're focusing on the 'right' thing and take action on that task or project until it's complete. What creates momentum is letting small bad things happen in your business (ilke an instagram bio that could use an update) so that we can stay focused on what truly matters and get that thing going. This is something our PGSDers become experts in. Thanks to Power Planning, they're able to finish the day - and the week - knowing that everything is done. And this is true even when they've had friends or family disrupt their plans, they haven't been super motivated and they've got a lot of different projects they're moving forward at the same time. So how do PGSDers get everything done without burning out? They no longer overestimate what their 'everything' is or underestimate how long everything will take. Instead, they focus on the needle movers and give themselves a realistic amount of time to complete each task (and add buffer time to their calendar so that underestimating a task is never a problem if it does happen). If you struggle to get everything done, this episode will help you understand how our PGSDers do it, and how you can do this too. Listen today. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode365. Ep 363: [Planning Series] Identifying Your Needle Movers When Everything Feels Important

E

When we're following planning advice that doesn't work for perfectionists, we struggle to know which tasks to prioritise. We have SO MANY ideas and we want to do them all, perfectly, right away. But we don't trust ourselves to pick the right tasks to focus on or to do them consistently. We also don't trust ourselves to handle the success, money and the attention that would follow… Because of this, we prioritise the familiar and easy tasks on our to-do list and lament the fact we don't have more time to get to the important marketing tasks we know we need to do. But once you know how to identify your needle movers, busywork and procrasti-learning are naturally replaced with self-trust and ACTION. That's why the fifth and final episode in my 5-part planning series is on how to identify your needle movers when everything feels important. By the end of this episode, you'll know which questions to ask yourself so identifying your needle movers is easy. You'll also have a new way of thinking about needle movers so that you don't feel so much pressure to pick the 'perfect' task or pressure to work on. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode363. In This Episode You'll Learn: Why perfectionists find it so challenging to decide on their needle movers 4 questions to ask yourself to help you identify your needle movers A new way to think about needle movers so you feel less pressure to pick them perfectly How to tell when it's time to start getting more strategic with your needle movers What my needle movers have looked like at different points in my business Our final 2022 enrollment week for PGSD begins at 6am New York Time on 26 October 2022: Perfectionists Getting Shit one is my program for perfectionist entrepreneurs. Ep 362: [Planning Series] Never Burnout Again: Using Your Calendar As A Tool For Kindness

E

As a perfectionist entrepreneur who wants to make a meaningful contribution to the world, the kindest thing you could possibly do for yourself is to honour your potential, rather than protect it. We perfectionists get in our own way because we're scared to find out that our best isn't 'good enough'. We procrasti-work, overwhelm ourselves and burn ourselves out because we're terrified that giving a full, balls-to-the-wall effort might come up short - and that we will end up finding out we're unintelligent and unlovable. But when you're planning properly as a perfectionist, you'll naturally be using your calendar as a tool for kindness. Being kind to yourself as you plan is about doing the most important tasks in your business in a consistent, sustainable, productive and courageous way. Proper planning makes execution 10x easier and more effective - and dissolves resistance, overwhelm and procrastination. And if that isn't a recipe for reaching your potential, I don't know what is. In part four of my planning series, I share practical tips and advice to help you be as kind as possible to yourself with your calendar (because true kindness will make you MORE productive and successful, not less). If you often feel the urge to rebel against your calendar and plans, this episode is for you. Listen in today. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episodeXXX. In This Episode You'll Learn: The difference between kindness and letting yourself do whatever you want Why being kind to yourself makes you more productive and successful, not less Practical ways to be kind to yourself with your calendar during your work hours Why being kind to yourself will automatically happen when you're Power Planning Our final 2022 enrollment week for PGSD begins at 6am New York Time on 26 October 2022: Perfectionists Getting Shit one is my program for perfectionist entrepreneurs. It will have planning properly as a perfectionist and doing the most important tasks in your business in a consistent, sustainable, productive and courageous way. And it provides the accountability to make your new-found productivity levels sustainable long-term, even if you prefer to lurk and learn from the shadows. This will be our final enrollment week for PGSD in 2022. Enrollment will open at 6am New York Time on 26 October and close at 11:59pm New York Time on 1 November 2022.
