Many expected the HBO Films documentary, "Welcome To Chechnya," to be shortlisted for this year's Oscars in the Best Documentary Feature category. However, what many didn't expect, is that it would simultaneously be shortlisted for Best Visual Effects. The film has resonated with many since its world premiere at last year's Sundance Film Festival due to its powerful story of activism, defiance and perseverance in the face of a corrupt and brutal regime. "Pinocchio" was one of the ten films to be shortlisted at this year's Academy Awards for Best Makeup & Hairstyling. With a staggered release that has spanned back to 2019, it's not surprising if many haven't heard or seen this film yet. "Nomadland" is easily the most critically acclaimed film of the year. "Minari" has recently been nominated for 10 Critics Choice Awards and 3 Screen Actors Guild Awards. "Greyhound" may have come out earlier this year but it has been able to stand out amongst a crowded Oscar season for having some of the bigger production values seen in any movie this year.
