"The Tender Bar" is the latest film by George Clooney, which tells the simple but inspiring story of J.R. Moehringer (whose memoir the film is based on), who dealt with struggles related to his absent father and class. Production Designer Kalina Ivanov was responsible for not only crafting period sets during the pandemic but environments that would subliminally inform the audience about the characters, the journey J.R. was going on, and take us through multiple decades. "The Novice" quietly had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this past June, where it won the Best U.S. Narrative Feature Film prize. "Swan Song" (not to be confused with the indie film starring Udo Kier released earlier this year) is the first narrative feature from Oscar-winning director Benjamin Cleary (Best Live Action Short for "Stutterer") and also the first leading role for the film's star, 2-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali. "Being The Ricardos" is the third feature film directed by Academy Award-winning writer Aaron Sorkin after "Molly's Game" and "The Trial Of The Chicago 7." The film has garnered praise for its performances from Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem, who both received Golden Globe nominations for their work recently, while Sorkin received Critics Choice and Golden Globe nominations for his screenplay. "Encounter" premiered earlier this year at the Telluride Film Festival, where its leading star, Academy Award-nominee Riz Ahmed, received a special tribute. "The Hand Of God" premiered earlier this year at the Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize, and its breakout star, Filippo Scotti, won the Marcello Mastroianni Award. Based on the early life of its writer and director, Paolo Sorrentino, the film is a personal re-telling of growing up in Italy, with beautiful cinematography and naturalistic performances, especially from Scotti in his on-screen debut. The film has been chosen as the Italian submission for Best International Feature at this year's Academy Awards and has received Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations for Best Foreign Language Film. "Red Rocket" premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival and went on to screen at the Telluride and New York Film Festivals before opening in limited release this weekend. "Flee" had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and has been one of the films to most consistently play at various film festivals throughout the year, including Telluride, Toronto, and New York. A recent winner of the Gotham Award for Best Documentary Feature, the film is now finally playing in theaters for the world to see from NEON. And when the world does see it, we think they're going to be entirely captivated by the story of Afghanistan refugee Amin Nawabi, told through the style of animation by filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen. In a move similar to 2019's "I Lost My Body," the French-language animated film based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Jiro Taniguchi called "The Summit Of The Gods," premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival and was later acquired by Netflix. "Belfast" had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and has gone on since then to establish itself as the frontrunner in this year's Oscar race. Kenneth Branagh's ode to his childhood memories, home and family is realized through Úna Ní Dhonghaíle's editing which was able to pack in a ton of emotion, comedy and drama into its concise 97 minute runtime. Joachim Trier's "The Worst Person In The World" had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it went on to win theBest Actress prize for its breakout star Renate Reinsve. The film has since screened at various film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and AFI Film Festival, where it has continued to receive positive notices for its leading star. The film has been selected as the Norwegian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards and will be released in the US by NEON on February 4th, 2022. "The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain" had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, went on to play at the Toronto International Film Festival, and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It tells the biographical story of the eccentric and brilliant artist Louis Wain, brought to life by Benedict Cumberbatch in another terrific performance. One of the most meticulously constructed films of 2021 is Pablo Larraín's unconventional Princess Diana biopic, "Spencer." Since its worldwide premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, the movie has challenged audiences with its storytelling, but the crafts on display have consistently impressed.
