"Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3" was one of the few bright spots Marvel had in 2023, as the third entry in the franchise brought forth an emotional and thrilling conclusion to James Gunn's trilogy with these beloved characters. "Oppenheimer" has been the toast of the 2023-2024 awards season, receiving a leading total of thirteen Academy Award nominations and winning (as of this writing) the Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards for Best Picture. Christopher Nolan's latest masterpiece is a technical behemoth where every department worked at the top of their game to bring J. "Origin" had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for adapting Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson's book "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents." The 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held last night after being delayed due to the actors' and writers' strikes from last year. While Matt Neglia could not be present to host due to his traveling schedule, Alyssa Christian, Giovanni Lago, and I were able to watch the show live and hop on the podcast immediately following the show to deliver our instant reactions to the winners and the ceremony. "Rustin" had its world premiere at the 2023 Telluride Film Festival, where its leading star, Colman Domingo, received the best reviews of his career, bringing the untold story of Bayard Rustin to the screen. Grammy-winning musical artist Lenny Kravitz contributed to the film by writing the end credits song "Road To Freedom," which was nominated for a Critics Choice and Golden Globe Award and is shortlisted at the 96th Academy Awards for Best Original Song. "Flamin' Hot" premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival, where it received positive reviews and was later released on Hulu and Disney+ over the summer. Academy Award-winner Diane Warren has been nominated at the Oscars 14 times in competitive categories. This year, she's shortlisted for writing the song for the film titled "The Fire Inside," performed by Becky G. Nominated already by the Society of Composers and Lyricists and Hollywood Music in Media, she could very well earn her 15th competitive nomination this year for the song which has over 2 million views on YouTube.
