Remembering How It All Began...Opening Fleetwood's On Front Street We opened the restaurant in August 2012. I lived on the island for 9 months. For those 9 months, Maui was my home, and the people of Maui and Lahaina were my friends, and I felt, my family. I love them all… The valet guys were my friends, whom I saw every morning and every night when I came home from the restaurant. The guys behind the bar at Duke's, at the Honuakai, where I would go each night for dinner and have a drink after work I loved to laugh about the day with them. I owe a special debt of gratitude and love to Mike Butler and his wife Brenda. They picked up everything they owned to move to the rock and help open FoFS. And my good, dear friend, Eddie Bitton, designer. Ashley Leal, General Manager. Executive Chef, Eric Morrissette. And all of the little stores and restaurants that fed me and took care of me in Lahaina. I will never forget any of them or the kindness that they showed me when we all pitched in to help Mick create Fleetwood’s on Front Street. Mick, your dream became our dream. I hope that we made you proud. Fleetwood’s on Front Street was an iconic restaurant, a fitting tribute to the name on the door. Today Arwen Lewis welcomes musician George Adrian. George Adrian is a staple in the LA music scene. He's an Artist, Musician, and Composer. George Adrian accompanied Jerry Cantrell on bass for Jerry Cantrell's Brighten U.S. and European Tour (2022/2023). Originally from Chicago, George was chosen by Gene Simmons (KISS) for House of Lords before being tapped for Aragon (Arista Records). Moving on from Aragon, Adrian recorded an experimental instrumental album with partner Tyler Bates (Marilyn Manson / Film Composer). Most of those recordings made their way to Adam Rifkin’s cult classic Psycho Cop 2. This success led to further film opportunities including the feature film “Blue Flame” (Cassian Elwes). During breaks from the road, George formed a new band with a long-time friend and world-class drummer Alex Locascio. Alex suggested Audrey Wiechman for bass and vocals. The trio quickly became aware of their shared tastes and composed a dozen songs over the span of a few months. They are set to release their EP this fall. Finally, George Adrian and Peter Lewis (Moby Grape) will finish a 5-year collaboration that will culminate in a live album (untitled) of all new compositions with the legendary artist. Rounding out that project is Peter Lewis’ daughter Arwen Lewis. The multigenerational trio will be recording the EP live this summer in Solvang, CA. From truly humble beginnings, Dedee, her brother Rick, and her sister’s Lori and Michelle Pfeiffer grew up in Midway City, California, as the children of a heating and air conditioning contractor and a homemaker. Dedee Pfeiffer landed her first movie role in John Landis' film "Into the Night" and her first television role in the series "Simon & Simon." She went on to star opposite Grace Jones in the horror cult classic comedy "Vamp," and was in such films as the cult classic "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas and in the award-winning film "L.A., I Hate You." Dedee was cast on "Cybil" as Cybil Shepherd's daughter Rachel. Cybil went on to earn nearly three dozen awards and nominations, picking up three Primetime Emmy awards and the Golden Globe Award for best television series - musical or comedy. Dedee and the rest of the cast were nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. Dedee went on to star in the series "For Your Love" and guest starred in several of the most iconic shows on television, including "Seinfeld," "Friends," two "CSI" series and "ER." In 2020, she began starring as Denise Brisbane in the ABC crime drama series, "Big Sky" created by her brother-in-law David E. Kelley. And although Dedee has officially “made it” a long time ago, in Hollywood as an actor, what she may be most proud of is “making it” in life and in her recent recovery. His work for National Geographic Magazine began with adventure features, exploring the most remote corners of the globe from Antarctica to the Russian Arctic. As a professional climber, his early career was defined by high-risk expeditions and leaned on his unique skillset to capture stories that were largely out of reach to others. Much of Cory’s life has been defined by his journey with Mental Health to which he speaks openly and honestly, laying bare the hidden struggles that so many face in silence and solitude. My very special guest today is Singer & Songwriter, Emily Halpern. I regard these two things in life as highly valuable. The Gift of Laughter - I can never repay the gift of the laughter that someone shared with me. The Gift of Music I can never repay a music artist for the gift of their music, and how it makes me feel. I can never fully explain to them how life wouldn’t be nearly as sweet for living without the gift of their music. Theses are gifts that I can never repay in full. I was aware of Emily Halpern’s writing years before I knew who she was or had met her. Her words had made me laugh, so many countless nights watching Black-Ish, of which she was a writer and Producer from 2016 - 2017. And who could forget “Booksmart” Directed by Olivia Wilde written by Emily Halpern, Susan Vogel, Sarah Haskins and Katie Silberman? Those laughs made my cheeks sting pink. Booksmart laughs were guilty pleasure laughs for sure. I was introduced to her when I created a “Love Letter to Luqcues”. Lucques was the infamous restaurant in LA owned by Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne, and operated by General Manager Matt Duggan. It had closed during covid, for good. I was looking for love stories on the patrons of Lucques. Matt Duggan said that I should speak to Emily Halpern, a screenwriter. And when I did, Emily Halpern had one of the sweetest love stories of all. You see, Emily had her second date with her husband Evan at Lucques, tucked away in a corner table in the bar. The way Emily tells it, They both knew they had found each other’s soulmate that night. They had their wedding at Lucques. And, Their first born daughter Franny just missed her very first Sunday Super at Lucques before the Pandemic shut everything down.
