Hal Douglas Makes Me Happy - In a World... Voiceover artist Hal Douglas was born Harold Cone on September 1, 1924, in Stamford, Connecticut. Hal was the son of Samuel and Miriam Levenson Cone. Hal and his brother Edwin were primarily raised by their grandparents Sarah and Tevya Levenson after their mother died when Hal was only nine. Hal trained as a pilot and served three years in the Navy during World War II. He wrote fiction in his spare time and upon finishing his tour of duty enrolled on the G.I. Bill at the University of Miami, where he studied acting. After moving to New York, he changed his last name to Douglas and began supplementing his slight income from acting gigs with voiceover and announcer work on both radio and television. Hal soon became one of the most sought-after (and instantly recognizable) vocal talents for commercials and lead-ins for TV shows. Douglas worked steadily out of New York and not only continued to lend his distinctive gravelly baritone to television but also narrated the occasional documentary and countless film trailers in various genres. The gift of seeing the world, imagining the far off places. I would spend hours, laying on the floor, slowly flipping the pages. My imagination could not be contained, and I made up stories from the photographs that I saw. They were not only bonded by blood, they were best friends. And not only were they friends, they were bonded by the gift of music. You see, it was Dawson who taught her how to play the guitar and ignited her love for music. One day, when her piano bench broke, she called her family’s handyman and discovered that the handyman also played piano Rich Gomez. The Pianoman/handyman and her began playing together and soon started booking gigs at local bars. She got so good at the piano and guitar that she was twice selected to attend the prestigious Grammy Camp, designed to help students prepare for a life in the music industry. She was one of just eight students from across the country selected for the vocal track. Ava Lynn Thuresson, 18, of Santa Barbara, CA and she just performed “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears for a two chair turn on NBC’s The Voice! “I’m a little bit country, a little bit soul.” Ava Lynn is from Coronado, CA and graduated high school earlier this year after being a member of the show choir, the National Honor Society and the Feminist Girls Leading Movement club. Her talents don’t She’s also a singer-songwriter, dancer and model Tragically, her inspiration, life teacher and original Coach, Dawson passed away in 2017.
