She’s RinRin. And she’s the next big rock star. They say that overnight success takes 10 years but metalcore/alt-metal singer & songwriter RinRin burst fully formed onto the scene in summer 2020 with the release of her debut single ‘The Game’. The 20-year-old Qarin (RinRin) Hipe from Perth, showing an early aptitude for guitar joined her father’s cover band at age 13 and then the emo-rock band ‘Love Me Natalie’ before striding out with her own material playing shows with her Super “Kuya’s”, KR Arguelles, James Judges and Eddy Bissett. ‘Seek the Truth’ followed in January 2021 and was in the Top 10 AMRAP Metro Charts and the Triple J Unearthed Metal Chart. My special guest today is Mike in Tokyo - The widely popular and most listened to DJ in Tokyo. He’s been introducing the world to the best indie music in the world for over 35 years on FM radio broadcasting to 42 million people! Mike Rogers doesn’t only know the punk and indie music scene, Mike was in it. He was the lead singer of the ’70s LA punk band, The Rotters, under the pseudonym Nigel Nitro. A few years ago he left terrestrial radio and began broadcasting on Digital Radio in 19 countries, and on 55 stations. He’s interviewed everyone from the White Stripes, Yoko Ono Mike "in Tokyo" Rogers is a director, producer, writer, and FM radio host who, in 2006, became the first foreigner in Japanese history to hold a senior position at a major Japanese broadcasting station when he was appointed the general manager at TV Tokyo's InterFM radio channel. Since then, he has built a career as a radio and TV host, producer, and writer in Japan with film credits including Ghostroads – A Japanese Rock N Roll Ghost Story and the documentary, Matsuchiyo – Life of a Geisha. "Ghostroads - A Japanese Rock N Roll Ghost Story" which world-premiered at the Raindance Film Festival 2017 Mike is also a Jury member for Life at the Raindance Film Festival making him the first person from Japan to ever serve as a Jury member in Raindance Film Festival history.
