Ep 290The Everyday Sniper Podcast: All Unicorns and Rainbows

E

Everything is coming up Roses Wow what a crazy week the country is having. This is nuts on so many levels I feel the need to address some of the political fallout as it has a bearing on the sniper's hide website. We have been updating the Sniper's Hide website since March. We are in the final phases of the work and during the construction we are changing the way we look at politics. Tensions are high right now so we are compartmentalizing the posts so not to create the illusion we are a political website. We see the purge happening on other social media platforms and I fully expect it to spill over to the gun community. We have to watch out for each other, the spin is out of control. Because this affects our 2nd Amendment rights, we can't ignore it, instead I want listeners to be smart about it, Stay off the Skyline, protect yourself at all times. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks or commenting

Ep 288The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Aaron Mikesell Allterra Arms

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Aaron Mikesell Allterra Arms This is a really special episode revolving around Gain Twist Barrels. Aaron Mikesell of Allterra Arms reached out to me regarding my previous podcasts concerning Gain Twist Barrels. After hearing the discussions on the Everyday Sniper Podcast Allterra Arms decided to look into this Vudoo. The results are in keeping with my own, Aaron and I go over the pros of using a Gain Twist Barrel and when they looked at these, they were sold. I really appreciate Aaron coming on the podcast to talk about their findings. In fact, I love that they took the information I was spouting, tried it for themselves, and found the results credible. This is awesome. If want a deep dive into Gain Twist Barrels, listen to this episode. In my mind it proves we can mechanically fix a lot of things people obsess over with software. Thanks for sharing, Thanks for listening, thanks for Commenting, Merry Christmas!

Ep 287The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Resolution Broken, Drama too fun to Ignore

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Resolution Broken, Drama too fun to Ignore Welcome to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, I'm Frank from Sniper's Hide your Hostess with the Mostest. In this episode, we are discussing Sniper's Hide Site Upgrades. We are in the middle of a big site-wide upgrade to the forums. While this often creates drama it's nowhere near the drama of the Series is currently engaged in because of their Finale. We have to mention it, too big, too bold, too in your face. How silly can you be, using a Technicality to strip a winner of his crown based on a technicality. This is how you create drama. But a fun little episode to get a few bloods boiling before the holiday. Merry Christmas, All, Sean - Tippy Toe, Tippy Toe... Ha!

Ep 286The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bridging Training and Competitions

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bridging Training and Competitions This is a hard episode for me to define presently. I spent a day this week with Chris Way who has the Kraft YT channel and is shooting Assassins Way. Chris a newish precision rifle competitor who is local to me and very scientific in his approach to competition and training. Chris created a drill that tests a shooter at different positions on a standardized target in an attempt to record data. Each shooter is different, so seeing how they perform can give us valuable information when it comes to both teaching and learning precision rifle shooting. I like the way Chris approaches this, so try his drill and post the results on SH. Kraft Data Drive Thread I think the listeners will find a few nice nuggets in this episode. Meeting with new people opens up your perspectives on things. It forces you to change your way of thinking, which is a good thing. Ep 285The Everyday Sniper Podcast: What is the Standard, CR2 Shooting Solutions

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: What is the Standard, CR2 Shooting Solutions Today on the Podcast we have Chris Rance and Chris Roberts of CR2 Shooting Solutions. We have a great discussion on teaching students and working on a standard that all can relate too. What would be your standard when it comes precision rifle instruction. What skills sets do you want to walk away with and be able to repeat after the course without the aid of reference. I think with both Chris's we have hit on a question that should be the first one asked. What am I looking to get out of a precision rifle course. what are my takeaways for learning. We are trying to be on the same page, and I look forward to working with CR2 Shooting Solutions in 2021. https://www.cr2shootingsolutions.com/ Course Links Thanks for listening, commenting and sharing, thanks to both Chris Rance and Chris Roberts for an awesome discussion.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: My Level Best I gotta level with you guys, you make it too easy to push your buttons. You know I am trolling but you take it so seriously and get all butt hurt over it, makes me a bit sad for you. I honestly have no issue with levels, and I understand the use and employment better than you realize. Ep 278The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Patterns, we are looking at Patterns

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Patterns, we are looking at Patterns Another quick episode to hold you over. Patterns, we are looking at patterns, we use patterns to determine direction. I like patterns, I want to see patterns in your shooting because they tell a story. Lighter 338 bullets are better, I demonstrated it this weekend to a shooter who was convinced the 300gr bullet was the better choice. Quicker and more consistent impacts, less drop, and even less wind in some cases, in other cases the wind was nearly identical. Wind Class, we excel at teaching students to shoot in the wind. The wind is the wildcat, the wind is the great equalizer, you need to know how to shoot in the wind in order to hit targets in the wind. Thanks to everyone who attended an MHSA Precision Rifle Class this year, we appreciate you The season is winding down so thanks again, look forward to seeing everyone next time. Cheers, Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the podcast.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Episode 276: Training and Practice I think this is episode 276, I honestly don't know as I messed with the numbering up on the Everyday Sniper Podcast. I have a class happening with Brian Whalen in New Mexico next month. Check out www.cprifle.com Read Chris Roberts post from Facebook, that was a topical and important read, I hope you took notes. Ep 274The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bored, I'm bored, so bored, totally bored.

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bored, I'm bored, so bored, totally bored. Tired of repeating myself unless it's something important or something that needs to be said, but I personally feel I have said it all, more than once. With that, I am bored and just rambling like an idiot. Sure there may be a nugget or two in there, but odds are, I am saying a lot of nothing in this episode which on the other hand might be fun for someone out there. Ep 273The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Straight Jacket Armory with Bartlein Barrels, Supply & Demand

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Straight Jacket Armory with Bartlein Barrels, Supply & Demand May you live in interesting times! The firearm industry is on fire right now, demand has never been greater and we living through the perfect storm of violence in the streets, politics, and the pandemic. All this has combined to put a huge crush on the industry. I have Nick from Straight Jacket Armory and Frank Green on the phone to talk about the supply chain in terms of barrels and components. With demand being where it stands, the barrel industry is a good weather gauge to measure the temperature of the water. Temps are high, and supply is low. It's important to put these things into perspective and getting the perspective from Frank and Nick should be illuminating. Thanks to both guys for breaking it down and thanks to all the listeners.

Ep 272The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Episode 271:End of the Roadtrip

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Episode 271:End of the Roadtrip Back from our epic road trip across the United States. Ending in Tennesse at Treadproof we had a great group of shooters. They are making improvements as we speak and the target package was nice. Tons of small steel plates scattered across the range. Overall we had a kick-ass group of students, they took instruction well, we had great after-hour parties wherever we went. So thanks to everyone for making it a memorable trip. One learning experience is, rifle rests are not rear bags, sure you can compromise and use them, but to be honest, it's no the best tool for the job. Lastly managed recoil, I think we need to clean up the free recoil references to call them managed recoiled or percent or recoil, something different that better describes the process. I think we are all doing it very similarly, but we are calling it something else each time, and this where the confusion comes from. All good though, thanks for listening, sharing and being a part of the everyday sniper podcast. Cheers,

E

The Everday Sniper Podcast: Bryan Litz & Emil Praslick Berger No BS BC Part 1 Welcome to the Berger No BS BC Campaign feature Bryan Litz & Emil Praslick. At Berger, we are obsessed with the science of ballistics. Consumers share our obsession, yet repeatedly latch-on to each new projectile touting the highest Ballistic Coefficient (BC) and its claims of “best-in-class” accuracy. What should we believe? Follow our Berger No BS-BC campaign and learn more about Ballistic Coefficients, the importance of their consistency, and BC’s effect on accuracy and precision. We are honored at the Everyday Sniper to be included in this campaign. Having access to both Bryan and Emil is unheard of, and we are grateful for the opportunity. #NoBSBC These podcast episodes are being paired with the articles from Bryan over at the Berger website. Also, we are including the ability to do a Q&A via the Berger Facebook Page and the Sniper's Hide Forum. Enjoy the podcast, and head over to Berger to read the articles. Ep 250The Everyday Sniper Episode 249: Heavy Bullet vs Light Practical Application

E

The Everyday Sniper Episode 249: Heavy Bullet vs Light Practical Application In this episode, I have two main topics for discussion. Heavy bullets vs Light bullets and Mils vs Moa article on the new Sniper's Hide. This week I was able to go out and shoot two loads from the same source, one using a 140gr ELDM and the other using a 130gr Prime Load. Both loaded by Spark Ammunition. I had great conditions to compare the two loads, one, the heavy 140gr going 2650fps vs the 130gr going 2835. This shows how the two perform at a distance when most people try to default to the heaviest load possible. The lighter load was better, less drop, less wind because the speeds were up. Speed wins in our sport so we want to push this faster. Next, this week we upgraded the Sniper's Hide website. These were the changes I have been hoping to make for ages. The new forum and frontpage are uniform and now use a single login. This was my ideal set up when thinking about it. So with the upgrades, my first article is a deep dive into Mils vs TMOA vs SMOA. This question just won't go away, so I wanted to do a complete article on the subject. Right now I have six pages of details and it's not stopping from there. I still have images to upload and to refine the text. But it's comprehensive. This is the key, I want you to be a smarter consumer. I am not looking to sell you something, I am merely offering up information, what you do with that is up to you. Thanks for listening, thanks for commenting and thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast.

Ep 249The Everyday Sniper Episode 248 Pajama Pandemic 10% Difference

E

The Everyday Sniper Episode 248 Pajama Pandemic Hour 1460 of the Pajama Pandemic, in this episode we hit on a few minor topics, the 10% difference. I say 10% because that is usually the variation between the topics I am discussing. We focus on precision and accuracy so 10% matters to me. If I said I could increase your performance by 10% you'd probably take it without any hesitation. When it comes to different reticles these small variations in design will have a pretty big, if not immediately noticeable impact on our results. So with the new Army Reticle posted I wanted to go over my thinking when it comes to reticles. Accuracy International AT LE model. I recently built an AT LE or in this case, an AT with an AX Buttstock. This is a feature a lot of people wanted and AI did it in a blue gun LE offering so a few people were upset by this. I detail how you can build an AT LE without a lot of hassle and my method will save you about $500 in the process. There is more than one way to get an AT LE as a non-LE shooter, so here is my breakdown. Be sure to comment, be sure to hit Sniper's Hide for more details, and be sure to stay safe out there.

Ep 248The Everyday Sniper Episode 247: Everyday Jeremy

E

The Everyday Sniper Episode 247: Everyday Jeremy Going in a different direction with this podcast. A long time Sniper's Hide member Jeremy reached out to me and asked, would I entertain doing an episode with an Average Joe? Of course, and Jeremy has a background in Law Enforcement, has been to training, and shoots competitively in his local area. He is a listener of the podcast and member of the Hide Forum. It's about context, it's about putting things in perspective and how we manage success. I had never spoken to Jeremy prior, but we are able to speak the same language and put forth concepts in the Everyday Way. So you might be sitting in your car listening to me, I hope you see both sides of the coin here. I want to thank Jeremy for being forward-thinking and reaching out to me. I think there is quite a few nuggets to mined from our short discussion. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Don't forget to comment !

Ep 246The Everyday Sniper Episode 245: Frank Green of Bartlein Barrels

E

The Everyday Sniper Episode 245: Frank Green of Bartlein Barrels An often-repeated question I was getting in the Podbean App has focused on Barrel contours. I was gonna answer this question several times and get into the heat and weight discussion but decided to reach out to Bartlein Barrels and ask Frank Green to come on the podcast. I think this entry episode with Frank is a master class on discussing the various pro and cons of barrel features and options. Frank breaks down the concepts in an easy to understand format. We start out talking contours, that is the main focus of the conversation. We get into twist rates, which brings us to Gain Twist barrels. The experience over several years of Bartlein doing the Gain Twist for many different shooting disciplines. I really appreciate Frank coming on, this is an excellent episode. Have a great week, stay safe, protect yourself at all times, to include the family. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, and thanks for commenting.

Ep 244The Everyday Sniper Episode 243: Rifle Set up as Part of the Fundamentals & Gaming

E

The Everyday Sniper Episode 243: Rifle Set up as part of the Fundamentals & Gaming Not nearly the smoking and joking as some previous podcast episodes. We dig into a couple of topics as related to the fundamentals and then from a question off the Podbean App I was asking about gaming a stage or match. In the first part, I read from a great Sniper's Hide Forum topic on features that help with accuracy. But change that topic into one of rifle setup. Rifle setup is the key feature for this. How we execute the fundamental and the Tom Cruise, No Mind Part of the equation. Mindset is big with precision rifle shooting. How the brain reacts and relays information is key to our success. So I talk about mindset when it comes to set up. Lastly, we had a question about gaming. As Mike and I mention gaming a match or stage several times. Well, gaming is a subjective, gray area topic, however, I attempt to give you some insight into what we are talking about. It can be very subtle or quite obvious, education is the key. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast, Stay Safe, wash your hands, stay away from Zombies and talk to you some more soon. Cheers,
