Ep 388The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris & Frank April After Action

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris & Frank April After Action Hey All Everyday Sniper People, Chris and Frank here, we just got off a great first class, and wanted to talk about it. We had groups of students for our first RifleKraft - Sniper's Hide 3 Day Training Event and it was just about picture perfect. We had awesome weather, in fact it was like the weather was paying attention to our lessons and it was helping us. We had the perfect set of students too, the right amount to variation in experience levels to max out our side of the equation. We started out with the fundamentals, I did a short presentation on the high points of that, at which point we went to 100 yards and Shot paper. We created a nice set of drills to build the shooter from prone to tripod and back. These were designed to fix technique and increase precision. From there we took them out to steel. The second day we another quick presentation, Chris talked the Kraft Quick Wind method, and then immediately out shooting in the 12-18MPH winds so the main change, no disconnect from the lesson to the drill. We are not talking a concept and waiting a day to shooter like was my method before. The KQW just plain works too... yes I am being cagey about the Kraft Quick Wind, because we to solidify it as Chris' before it goes widespread. Too many like appropriate other people ideas out there. The 3rd day was just plain fun, we started with Gravity Ballistics which we used, but not in the same way. The winds were way too strong to try and do the worksheets in the wind. So on Sunday we had mellow conditions and it made working the Gravity Ballistics so much better. It's just a solid way of doping a rifle. Awesome time, excellent class, I appreciate all the students and the work Chris put into the effort. More to come so again, thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast. Now get out and shoot ! Frank Snipers Hide

Ep 387The Everyday Sniper Podcast: New Training Seasons Starts Now

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: New Training Seasons Starts Now Spring is in the air, and we are getting ready to kick off the 2024 Training Season. This week is our first official class combining RifleKraft and Sniper's Hide. We have a 3 day course planned for Friday that will focus on the Fundamentals in both the Prone and with a Tripod. In addition to the fundamentals, we will be unveiling to the world the Kraft Quick Wind Model which will change the way we look shooting in the wind. Last week I ventured to Buena Vista Georgia to visit Tom Fuller at Armageddon Gear. He hosted a pre-Match and BBQ for the International Sniper Competition Teams at his place. What a fun event, like a picnic with Shooting. I had a blast with all the International Teams and US Cadre. Tom plans to be make this bigger and better and Sniper's Hide Plans to be there. Training Links Gravity Ballistics is doing awesome, people are enjoying the simplicity of the App, and the accuracy of the numbers, so if you have not downloaded Gravity Ballistics give it a try. If you are not sure Gravity Ballistics will work, download the worksheet and try it manually first. The App compared to the worksheet is icing on the cake. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast.

Ep 386The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob Bynum Accuracy Podcast Simulcast

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob Bynum Accuracy Podcast Simulcast For this episode I am on the Rifles Only Podcast with Jacob Bynum and I am simulcasting this discussion. Jacob always gets a series of questions in regarding precision rifle shooting and today was no exception. We answer two listeners questions the first, in regards to bedding a rifle, the second about what gear to bring as a new shooter. The quick take on Bedding, it's great if you have the time and money to get it done, but there are lot of examples were bedding a modern rifle is not needed. The second question I go into the precision rifle gear a new shooter should buy before their first match. Short answer, very little you should borrow it. I always recommend hitting 3 matches to experience it before investing in equipment. Later I address some Facebook drama taking place. This week some micro mind tried to cancel me. That cancellation notice didn't go over too well and I took actions to counter the attack. So I ended it here on the podcast. Thanks to everyone for listening, supporting and being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast. Be sure to check out Snipers Hide for all your long range precision rifle information.

Ep 385The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Rifles Only Brawl 2024 with Jacob Bynum

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Rifles Only Brawl 2024 with Jacob Bynum Hey welcome back to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, I was traveling last week, we ventured to south Texas to hit the Rifles Only Brawl. Nice little drive to Kingsville, we settled in the day before the Match and recorded a podcast with Jacob. The Brawl is a great straight forward event, no flash, just solid shooting. It was like old folks home time at Rifles Only, all the old crew was present. So this podcast episode is a bit different, I recorded about 30 minutes with Jacob at Rifles Only. Then I when I got home we recorded a part two version via phone call. I put the two episodes together to make one big episode for everyone to listen too. Despite the weather, the Brawl was a great event, awesome Range Officers moving things along, educated competitors who understand how a rifle match is shot, it was just awesome to witness. Enjoy this episode, the conversations with Jacob are always great. You will find knowledge bombs are dropped a lot. Again, thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast.

Ep 384The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Big Jim Fish: $2k Optics Talk

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Big Jim Fish: $2k Optics Talk Big Jim Fischer is back on the Everyday Sniper Podcast to talking the Mid Range $2k Optics he has reviewed. Big Jim does some of the most detailed optics reviews on the Internet. His attention to detail is second to none in this area. $2000 optics are some of the most common scopes we see in class and on the line at competitions. This mid range is where the majority of optics fall. Not quite Tier One based on the price point, but some creep into Tier One with the features. A few of the optics we are discussing include: Leupold Mk5 HD Sightron S6 Bushnell Elite XRS Minox ZP5 Zero Compromise Optics 4-20x Zeiss S3 Jim always brings the details and will give you both the Pros and Cons to each scope he is looking at. Maybe it's Spline Slop he brings up, or High Magnification distortion on the edges. There is a bunch of points to look at with each scope. Jim's reviews can be found on the main page of Sniper's Hide. They are easily seen in the blog section. Thanks for listening to the Everyday Sniper Podcast. Thanks for sharing the EDS Podcast, and thanks for being a part of the discussion. Cheers, Lowlight

Ep 383The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Safe House Recording Post SHOT

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Safe House Recording Post SHOT Second time recording in the Safe House. The compressor on my channel is a bit weird, I fixed it after the fact, but overall, it is much better we have a board; I just needed to make a few more tweaks. Post SHOT discussion with Chris regarding my observations at SHOT SHOW. I was awed by the lever guns, dug the improvements with the air rifles, and really liked the Daniel Defense H9 pistol. Then we went into a wind discussion; Chris talked about his wind strategy a bunch, which was a really good discussion. After I finished, I found the compressor setting to remove it, so the minor fluctuation is not gonna happen after this episode. Every dang board is slightly different, I had to tweak this guy a bit more. Don't forget our classes, we have classes happening this Spring and Summer, so head over to Sniper's Hide to sign up. E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Big Jim Fischer Sub $1k Optics Talk Great Conversation with Lester "Big Jim" Fischer who is responsible for a lot of the Sniper's Hide Optics reviews on the Home page of Sniper's Hide. More can be found here. Sniper's Hide Some of the optics Jim and I discuss include Arken Athlon Optics Bushnell Sightron Ritron Meopta Optisan Primary Arms Optics Jim talks about the differences between Chinese manufacturers in sub $1k optics and those arriving from the Philippines, also which one he feels is better. Spline Slop, there's a word you learn, what is Spline Slop and does it have a bearing on your adjustments. Set Screws the bane of our existence. The list goes on and on when we are talking optics with Jim. It's just knowledge bomb after knowledge bomb here. Finally, stand by for part 2 when we talk $2k plus scopes. The front page of Sniper's Hide is where you will find Jim's reviews so be sure to check them out today. The ULTRA50 reduces recoil by 65% compared to a bare muzzle while presenting a peak dBA sound pressure level at the shooter’s ear of approximately 136 dB. For comparison’s sake, the next most well known “braked 50 suppressor” is 20 dB louder at the shooter’s ear. Ep 379The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob from Rifles Only - .22 Considerations

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob from Rifles Only - .22 Considerations Hey Everyday Sniper Fans, Another great episode here with Jacob Bynum of Rifles Only Fame. He had a write in question for both of us coming off the heels of one gun only discussion. So in this question the listener asks, if you could only get 1 .22 who's would it be, or what would it be, sort of talking Vudoo vs Ruger 10/22. We give it a good breakdown and look at it from a few different angles. Which would we choose and why in this context is a tricky question, so we dance around for an answer for at least 20 minutes. Don't mind the Bigfoot - Alien talk in the beginning it goes quick. Lastly we bring up Gravity Ballistics and the new Gravity Ballistics App which is available in your App Store or Play Stores. When you are in your App Store, don't forget the Sniper's Hide App too... it makes using the site and forum so much better. If you are going online Rifles Only has Brawl Tickets there as well. They have other cool things too like their Rifles Only branded nylon, the suppressor covers, slings, etc. Again a huge Trump sized thank you to Jacob from Rifles Only and our mini Tribute to Jacob Gotterfredson, he rates it. Ep 377The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob @ Rifles Only Lessons Learned

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob @ Rifles Only Lessons Learned Popped on the podcast with Jacob Bynum of Rifles Only fame. He ran into a Believe the Bullet situation where the student had their face in the phone ignoring the hard data right in front of them. It's important to go Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai, No Mind. People Mind the crowd, mind the situation, mind the results, no mind, see and adjust. The Vortex Rifle mounted laser range finder is everywhere right now. Learning how to manage and use lasers that are mounted on the rifle is an important skill. Just as important as learning how to use a hand held rangefinder where people push too hard, cut off your head in the photo. Managing devices, ballistics calculators, lasers, data, etc is key. The Rifles Only Mile High Shooting Brawl in February usually kicks off the season. Be sure to head over to Rifles Only to sign up, their prize tables to second to none. Whenever Jacob and I visit there is a ton of nuggets hidden throughout the conversation, so don't miss a minute. Thanks for sharing, thanks for listening and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

Ep 375The Everyday Sniper Podcast:That last 10%

E

Welcome to the New Season of the Everyday Sniper Podcast, in this episode I want to talk about our Training philosophy and pushing that last 10%. The Everyday Sniper Podcast:That last 10% Chris and I have restarted doing some Sniper's Hide Videos and you can find them in the usual places like Rumble & YouTube, so be sure to check them out. But in doing these videos we are looking at the why as well as cause and affect. Like most things in life, there is a reason why things happens. Shooting is an "If" - "Than" experience, if you do this, then this will happen. So with our new videos we are looking at that relationship between you and your rifle. Small things matter, and I encourage you to watch these recent videos as they ask you to answer the question for yourself. What do you need to do with your rifle set up in order to execute the perfect shot ? Take the bags we use, Most people shoot with a Game Changer today because they want that one bag solution. But first off, the Game Changer is a front rest and not a rear bag, but we also understand compromise. Using the Game Changer is a compromise, so you have to know what can happen if you use the bag in a variety of different ways. Not every result is the same, so check out the video. It's about bringing the little things to the shooter, pushing you past that last 10% as that is the hardest obstacle to climb. Get over that plateau, moving beyond 30th place, it's the focus the drive needed to cross that imaginary line of the last 10%, Push yourself further by trying what we are putting down. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast

Ep 369The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Sir Marcus Taylor of Gravity Ballistics

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Sir Marcus Taylor of Gravity Ballistics It's been long enough, we know weaponized math works, but the wording is too generic to give it any real takeoff so we need to change that. I present you with Sir Marcus Taylor of Gravity Ballistics ! A student said to us this cycle of Weaponized Math, "this weaponized math worksheet makes us look good". I honestly can't think of a better endorsement for it. There really is not easier way to dope a rifle than weaponized math or now in this case Gravity Ballistics. The GB Factor is gravity, since it's pretty constant it just works. There are no inputs to get wrong. We don't need a muzzle velocity, we don't need a ballistic coefficient, we don't need sight height or latitude. All you need with Gravity Ballistics is a 100 yard zero and fairly level range. Angles need special attention but it's just math so we can do it. The simplistic nature of what Marc stumbled on cannot be overstated. Thank you Alaska, Marc and Frank classes have seen over 1000 students. We have learned a ton and helped more shooters excel than I can describe. Thanks for sharing, thanks for commenting, thanks for coming to Marc and Frank Classes ! We discuss: Fireworks, are all your fingers and toes in place 223 Ammo, we are seeing cool stuff coming down the road Bullet Speed, we like speed Garmin Ballistic watches Sig Cross PRS Fun little talk happening between Chris and I so check it out. It's funny the shooting gear discussions and videos gain more traction lately than instructional videos. People are back in gear mode again, maybe because disposable money is tight so they want to buy a hit vs training one. The CR2 Supply Cage is a great place to get ammo, Garmin stuff, and more. I use it all the time now as Chris as stuff at really good prices. The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris and Frank Live on a Rainy Day We are live again, Chris and I were supposed to hit the range for some videos but the weather in Colorado went to hell with Hail and massive thunderstorms. So inside we stayed and decided to talk to you all. We Go live on Sniper's Hide in the Hide TV app, and we recorded our conversation at the same time for the podcast. not as polished as we were in the other room without the board, but still sounds good. Odd topics but the flow was fun and I think you will enjoy this conversation. The videos are available so you can watch too. Ep 364The Everyday Sniper Podcast: May 5th Update

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: May 5th Update Dang, I missed a podcast for you all last week. I recorded it, but then thought better of putting it up as it was bit scatterbrained. We were damage controlling the Live Stream on the SH App and the diagnosis part would be annoying to listen to. Anyway, in this episode, beside catching up you the Chris Way RifleKraft collaborations, I mention the new Aero Precision Solus. This new $2k Precision Rifle from Aero Precision is sweet. It checks all the boxes, and has a very nice short throw 3-lug action to boot. Pop into the Snipers Hide App, we are doing Lives every week, makes sure you link the App to your account in the browser first then the Hide TV will be active. E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris & Frank Gadgets Had Chris over the house today, we did a live stream plus podcast. I had to adjust my system some what to use the computer to live stream and podcast at the same time. Getting all the stuff to communicate correctly can be a challenge. Gadgets, Chris and I talk gadgets, what helps, how can it hurt you, what are the needs? Is it information or efficiency you are looking for, a gadget either provides information or helps streamline a process. We showed you the RRS SC DUO and the Attachment for the BulletSeeker, all cool stuff to use. Ep 362The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob Bynum State of the Union Talk

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob Bynum State of the Union Talk Interesting call from Jacob Bynum of Rifles Only. He pinged to discussion his recent Nomad or Outlaw Match, meaning he had no affiliation to any league and he was Surprised to see and hear from the Sponsors. The Sponsors for Rifles Only Spring match stepped up bigger being the match was not affiliated to any league or series. I have noticed the sponsors buying ads with me discussion the lack of return. The series have a big voice but very little actual reach. The message carries but he return for sponsors just isn't there. Sure they will use the name and resources but really, the investment is lost. Jacob also had a user question, this was about only have one rifle. Both Jacob and agreed an 308 Gas Gun would be best if you could only have one. Lastly, where are we going, it's a great conversation with Jacob and I think if you pay attention you map out a path going forward. I alway look forward to talking to Jacob and this episode was simulcast to Sniper's Hide for the Everyday Sniper and the Rifles Only Podcast. Ep 361The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris & Frank Standards

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris & Frank Standards The deeper we dive into this precision rifle stuff, the more we see the need for standards, as well as ranking for the shooter. I really think we are missing an opportunity the Handgun people have enjoyed for some time now. Standards and Rankings. We are live n the Sniper's Hide App, as well as recording the Everyday Sniper Podcast. You can watch the video of this episode at Sniper's Hide in the Hide TV Archives for our Live. It's a great topic we are talking about and how the competition world can incorporate more information in the scores or using skills stages or standards in a different way. Ep 360The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Small, Medium and Large Live Simulcast

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Small, Medium and Large Live Simulcast Chris Way and Frank are doing a Friday Night Live on Sniper's Hide and we are simulcasting it to the Podcast. So while we are talking on Hide TV on the website we are recording the event to the Everyday Sniper Podcast. I really like the flow of these discussions with Chris. We bounce off each talking different elements of precision rifle shooting. In this episode, it's about recoil management but view through the lens of one size does not fit all. Different rifle systems have different recoil pulse that push the shooter around in different ways. Really what I was trying to do was test the live streaming service after replacing my router this week. We were struggle to keep the live stream connected to the Hide TV system, but once I replaced my router all things are working again. To connect your SH account to the Hide TV app and to view the Live Streams, use the desktop of your computer to link your Sniper's Hide Account to Hide TV app and voila it works. The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Live Crossfire Conversation w/ Chris Way Our first live test on the Snipers Hide App to link the Podcast with our Live Streaming. Still had a minor disconnect with the App vs Desktop but we are adjusting. Chris and I talk the Mountain Rifleman Course and what I saw teaching the students last weekend. This is important as it's about realistic expectations for a new shooter. It also shows the value of a basic class. As I work through the technical you guys can enjoy the conversation between Chris and I as I think the information is invaluable to the precision rifle shooter. But once they are fixed look out, I can live stream and podcast at the same time. So catching up on the last two weeks, we just returned from California. We did a class from the Pala Range, awesome time so a bit of discussion on that topic. Oh, I picked up an IOR scope from a student. Next a bit of zero talk, I have an obsession with fine tuning our zeroes. We need this process to work better, or do we, which is my current question. Ep 356The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Marine Scout Sniper’s are History

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Marine Scout Sniper's are History Disturbing news dropped this week, on Tuesday, One day before the anniversary of Carlos Hathcock's passing, the USMC announced they are doing away with Scout Snipers as they currently exist. Traditions mean nothing anymore and the Marines are being gutted in a lot of way. Tim Parkhurst President of the Scout Sniper Association is on the podcast with me discussing the details. Tim lays out the new orders and the direction the USMC plans on taking themselves in terms of the Sniper community. It appears from Tim's reading of the Orders the Basic Scout Sniper School is going away. In fact the 0317 MOS will be retired, going away. The details are public if you want to dig deeper. But I really appreciate Tim reaching out to me regarding this development. With that said, the USMC Scout Sniper Association is stronger than ever with a lot of events and plans in motion. Check out the Website for all the details, and be sure to support where you can. https://scoutsniper.org/ Also we are currently engaged in our 03/17 Day Sweepstakes for the Terry Cross Rifle I spoke about, you can enter here: https://scoutsniper.org/scout-sniper-annual-sweepstakes/ Terry Cross Zealot Rifle package with NF Scope is available. E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: SHOT Postmortem Back from SHOT SHOW this weekend and I wanted to give you my take on SHOT SHOW 2023. Bit of a different show for me this year, the addition of the Cesar's Forum and having skipped last year, it was a weird layout for me. Plus only going Tuesday to Thursday meant I had a short week to work with. Highlights in this Episode Electro-optics Optics Stocks MDT Suppressors Action Wars Seekins Precision Overall I had a great show, met up with a lot of companies. We had an addition of a lot of precision rifle stuff taking place. Aero has a Rifle, Colt has a Rifle, several companies are moving from strictly Semi Auto to bolt action. Loved seeing everyone, we are truly in the golden year of precision rifle.

Weapon Snatcher and I am are creating a combo, handgun precision rifle class for everyone and wanted to talk about it. Nothing crazy, no John Wick style stuff, but instead bringing handgun back into the mix with precision rifle shooting. To many avoid the side arm side of the sport and I wanted to revisit it again. E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Horizons Welcome to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, I'm Lowlight from Sniper's Hide and I'll be your host for the next 35 minutes or so while I talk without breathing. This past weekend I had two friends from Alaska down, James and Lonnie to shoot ELR Distances on the range in Fort Morgan. We had an awesome time shooting from 800 to 2450 yards. Lonnie with Ruger RPR in 338 and James with an ASR in 300NM and 33XC. Had awesome conditions to dope the rifles out. Everyone hit at distance and Lonnie was able to check "Shooting ELR in Colorado with Frank" off his Bucket List. Conditions were near perfect all weekend. We had a bit of wind the first day, gusting to 18MPH but it was mostly manageable and the second day was near perfect with 4MPH winds. I want to thank James for accompanying Lonnie down from Alaska and both of them for an awesome weekend of shooting. Great job Guys. Ep 344The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Road Trip Rant with Roberts

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Road Trip Rant with Roberts So we have this group text thing going on, and this morning I get a blitz of text messages from Chris Roberts. He is fired up and wanting to talk, and by talk I mean he wants to rant on the podcast about some happenings in the competition world. See we have different kinds of competitions, you have a PRS Style, an NRL Hunter Style and what people call Sniper Matches. Well everyone wants to be a Sniper until it's time to do Sniper Shit. Cause Sniper Shit is often long and boring and long and boring makes for a shitty match. But you can adjust long and boring into more realistic stages vs a typical PRS Style match. So Chris has some things he needs to get off his chest and I'm here to agree and promote his ranting because I feel the same way. I think it's a good conversation, its a bit spicy but you like it that way. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast
