Ep 339The Everyday Sniper Podcast: The Wicked Rabbit

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: The Wicked Rabbit 9 O Clock at Night, Denver Colorado, Marc and Frank do a podcast because we love you guys. Coming back from Iowa after a Class at Sure Shot Range. John has a great country range in the middle of a beautiful Iowa field with a great target package. The current conversation sorta speaks for itself; we are dropping gold nuggets with every sentence in this episode. It even surprised me how many knowledge bombs we are dropping. Dresden faired better when you consider this episode. Head over to Sniper's Hide, and let me know what you think. I think you'll want to talk about this episode as we pushed buttons. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

Ep 338The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Nebraska Class AAR

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Nebraska Class AAR Welcome to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, Marc and I just finished an outstanding class in Nebraska at JM Precision with Jake McDaniel. The students were a ton of fun, and we learned a lot, like always with these students. Our goal is to make the best precision rifle classes out there in the least amount of time. We build marksmen quickly and effectively. In this episode, Marc and I break down our observations and discuss the things to help the shooters out there. We talk fundamentals of marksmanship to the Nth Degree and how those who lack fundamentals might see things slightly differently. We had a few minor issues, but as always, I have to do a call out to the companies when we have an issue that is repeating, and we feel fixable; we love the products and hate the problems. As always, thanks for listening, sharing, and being a part of the Everyday Sniper. Also, you can find the Article I mentioned on Sniper's Hide in the Practical Marksmanship section of the Forum Enjoy - we do !

Ep 337The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Marc and Frank Hunting Rifles In Alaska

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Marc and Frank Hunting Rifles In Alaska Coming off our July Class in Alaska, I wanted to talk about hunting rifles. We see a lot of hunting rifles. Honestly, I am tired of companies repeating the same thing since 1958. It's a simple fix that needs to be made at the manufacturer's level, you guys are the problem. Consumers will use what is available, and if you give them garbage, they will adapt with garbage training. If you give them a rifle they can shoot, they will use it. Anyway, it was a soapbox moment that I think is easily fixed if people will just make the barrels a bit better. But follow the AAR on the Alaska classes, and new classes listed, enjoy Thanks for sharing, thanks for listening, and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast

Ep 336The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb, Let your Freebird Sing

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb, Let your Freebird Sing Who knew Marc was such a Freebird Fan, but man, he put his hand in his pocket and bought a round of Freebird for the Lodge. Coming off a 10-day trip to Alaska, the Marc and Frank Show is in full swing and we are marking Marksman. I lost my voice so my side of the conversation is a bit weak, for that I apologize. When you play as hard as you work, you tend to burn the candle at both ends. In this episode, we talk PR 1 In Alaska The Training Program Arctic Guardian Competitions AAR Lessons Learned Thanks for listening, sharing, and being a part of the Everyday Sniper

Ep 334The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition Colorado Dreaming

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition Colorado Dreaming Colorado dreaming on such a sunny day. Marc and Frank just finished a 3-day course in Fort Morgan Colorado. Had excellent students come out to shoot with us and had a ton of fun. With the Colorado Wind Gods being as angry as they have been, it provided an excellent opportunity to learn how to shoot in the wind. We absolutely subscribe to the Gun Number model and even into our 4th Wind Bracket. Once we fixed the student's fundamentals, we marched them out to a mile. It was awesome seeing all the impacts at distance. Value-Added Bonus, Jack Master, Ted H came into town and thrilled us with new information and well as helped all the students with competition shooting skills. Ted is an excellent resource and we absolutely loved having him here. Excellent class all around, really appreciate all the students that arrived. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper.

Ep 333The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Rise of the Valkyrie

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Rise of the Valkyrie It's alive, it's alive, it's alive !!! My Accuracy International AX Short Action is now chambered in 224V. Yes you heard that right, my AI is an 224V and it hammers. So while I understand the Valkyrie is a dead cartridge, I don't see it surviving history, I do enjoy using it today. I got access to an 6.8 Bolt head and spun up a barrel, now I am ready to roll. Performance was impressive, if you want to see the results head to Sniper's Hide and do a search. But in this episode I breakdown my thoughts on the subject. Let me know what you think? Thanks for listening sharing and being a part of the Everyday Sniper Enjoy

Ep 332The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Who doesn’t love a Rant

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Who doesn't love a Rant Right, I mean we all love the drama clearly, if we didn't we wouldn't keep repeating it over and over. Something would change, and by change, I don't mean hiding the situation or shutting down the conversation, I mean fixing the shit that is broke. So the PRS comes to Colorado in true PRS fashion, they have drama, not with one individual, but they start with an entire squad of shooters. One guy gets treated unfairly, and what does the match do, alienate the entire squad of shooters, because they would have, so you must be too. Anyway, then I talk Crossfire Videos with Chris. He and I are doing these little tips and tricks videos, peeling back the curtains. Normally I talk high level stuff, but this time we break it down a bit further. Competition season is just starting to kick off so remember to support the groups that support the shooters. Competition is cheap training if you use it correctly. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

Ep 331The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Knowledge Bomb Edition: Balance the Equation

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Knowledge Bomb Edition: Balance the Equation Balance is important in life, after all without balance we will all fall down. But balancing work, life, family, and even your shooting events is critical. I like balance. For me, I return to center by taking the off season to reflect. I spent time exploring, experimenting, and most important, unplugging. We need to take a step back every so often in order to put things back into perspective. The Precision Rifle leagues need to do that too. I know Pawnee locally reset their dates, times and stages to keep things fresh. People are moving west to find new challenges as they mastered all the stuff back east. How are you challenging yourself ? What will you change in the 2022 shooting season ? These are important questions to ask. Thinking outside the box every now and then is key to your mental health. Don't be change things up, especially if you feel you reached that plateau in journey. We want to constantly grow and if the landscape looks flat, you need to move. Quick Episode to get the juices flowing. So thanks for listening, sharing and being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast. But sure to stop by Sniper's Hide too while you're at it.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition, Catch Up Welcome to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, Catch Up episode because I was like a week behind. Been doing a lot the past two weeks, traveled to Cameo to visit CR2 during their Mountain Class. Chris Way and I put out a new video, Crossfire, talking Tripods. That was a lot of fun. Ep 329The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb: CR2 Shooting Crew

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb: CR2 Shooting Crew Alright, coming off the heels of my last podcast where I rant about shooting far, here we have the CR2 Shooting Crew to expand. Chris Rance and Chris Roberts are on the episode to talk the practical relationship between shooting ELR distances, vs using a Radio. CR2 is expanding their courses to offer new classes that are a bit outside the box. From here we are talking radios, communication and why you should not overlook it. Shoot, Move, Communicate, that was the mantra Next we talk the mountains, CR2 Shooting Solutions is teaming up with Chris Way to offer a mountain course at Cameo. This should be an excellent representation of what it takes to operate in the mountains, Enjoy this one, we did, thanks for listening, sharing and being a part of the everyday sniper podcast, cheers, Lowlight Sniper's Hide

Ep 328The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bing Bang Boom Ricochet Rabbit

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bing Bang Boom Ricochet Rabbit This was a fun one, I was a bit wound up today. I have had several calls over the last few days about calibers and cartridges. So I was worked with guys talking about going big. Go big, everyone wants to go big, but not Me, I want to go small. Light is Right There I said, I told you guys for awhile now, lighter bullets are better. It's a fact you can't get around. Speed wins, as well speed kills, so why do they want to go so heavy. Well because they want to shoot far, which I understand. Push the envelope. But we are snipers, and we can't really push the envelope because we are small and light. We need to be mobile. The big guns are awesome, they get all the attention. But they are not always practical because, well, you have to carry it. Not to mention shoot it, with all that means, shooting far is not easy. This is training too, now you have to teach the guy more about ballistics and less about his job moving from point a to point b. listen up I am on fire today, so thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast. Ep 326The Everyday SniperPodcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition, Reflect, Reset, Reengage

E

The Everyday SniperPodcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition, Reflect, Reset, Reengage Quick little episode for you as I had nothing to say but a lot of energy to say it. In this episode I want you to reflect on the previous year of shooting. Then reset your equipment and mind, then reengage when you head back out for the season. So really just a mindset lesson, things to reflect on and think about. Combine this with what we spoke about in the last episode with Ted. Our mind plays a big part in our shooting, the mind will win you the match or help you lose it in spectacular fashion. So don't overlook the mental side of any sport as it matters. Ted teaches basic precision rifle classes in Iowa and calls his program Day Zero. Ted is there to guide the new shooter on all aspects of starting out. In this episode we talk the decisions that go into choosing the systems we do. The initial buy is always the hardest because you have the least amount of information. We try to fill in those gaps. Ted Hoeger and I talk about Stocks Calibers Triggers Scopes Software Ballistic Considerations We really deep dive with the buying decisions. I zoomed this call and it's a big quiet but clear as my system was not set up for zooming but it should be fine. Ep 325The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition Ted Hoeger

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition Ted Hoeger Welcome to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, Knowledge Bomb Editions were we try to educate the shooter to the best of our ability. In this episode I have Ted Hoeger on Zoom to talk to new shooters. Ted teaches what he calls a Day Zero course, where the shooter is in the early stages of their precision rifle journey. So to start our conversation, Ted and I start at Day Zero, what are the considerations when buying your first precision rifle. Initially I go over the thought process, as well I put our thinking into the context of our decisions. We look at Stocks Calibers Scopes Triggers Bipods Basic Ballistics We hit on as much as we can think of ... The Zoom call was a bit quiet, my computers were not set up for it this time, but we'll fix that, I normally don't use Zoom, I use my board and the phone, but this is clean, just quiet Thanks for listening thanks for sharing, thanks for commenting Lowlight

Ep 324The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Editions : Tools to Talk About

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Editions: Tools to Talk About We have a process, we have tools in the toolbox that help us execute the shot process. Some people have easy tools and some people have overly complicated ones. For the Shooter, our goal is to solve the problem in the quickest, easiest way available at the moment. We need to be faster than the situation warrants, and as accurate as possible. Dry Fire is a tool, we use dry fire to build positive neural pathways that help us execute the task without overthinking it. The mind knows we want the body to follow. If A is the beginning of our precision rifle journey and C is the culmination of our efforts, how much work do we need to put in so we can travel from A to C? While each person and situation is different, we can create methods to help guide us on our journey. This is a journey, it's progress and progress does not stop just because you made it to the finish line one time, every day on Earth creates a new goal. Don't let your goals pass you by, Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast. Sniper's Hide is getting a makeover we'll be back soon

Ep 323The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Tim Parkhurst USMC Scout Sniper Association

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Tim Parkhurst USMC Scout Sniper Association Welcome to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, in this episode we talk to Tim Parkhurst President of the USMC Scout Sniper Association. Tim has stopped by the Everyday Sniper Podcast to talk about the SS/A Annual 03/17 Day Raffle. This year is extra special because the Scout Sniper Association is raffling off a custom, period-correct Winchester Model 70 Sniper Rifle. This Winchester Model 70 Sniper Rifle uses take-off parts from actual serving rifles and is a very special piece of history. The USMC never really issued the Model 70 Sniper Rifle but instead fielded less than 500 rifles from WWII to Vietnam. Stop by the Association Website for your Tickets. Tim was recently at the Gathering of Snipers during the Guardian Long Range Competition. Gary Larson and the Guardian Matches are currently sharing hosting duties with the Army and USMC Sniper Associations. Tim was able to stop by and visit. The Gatherings of Snipers is a new get-together featuring Army and Marine Snipers. I really enjoyed talking to Tim, the flow is fun, and the raffle is important. https://scoutsniper.org/shop/ Thanks for Sharing, Thanks for commenting, and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

It's an honor to have Bryan on the podcast, an accomplished precision rifle shooter, competitor, and instructor. Bryan talks about the unique challenges when shooting in the mountains. How he teaches and his mantra to "See it and fix it", I think is a great tool. Enjoy the episode be sure to share, and don't forget to comment. Ep 321The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition, Joel Russo Terminus Actions

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition, Joel Russo Terminus Actions Actions ! I put the word out and you all responded, we want to talk about actions out there. Like Custom Actions, pros, cons, where are we going, the question was actions. So I reached out to Joel Russo of Terminus Actions as in my opinion it's one of the most modern actions we have available. Terminus Actions are switch caliber capable and offer standard configurations. But more importantly, we want to talk about the "why", why does Joel do the things he does. I mean common on man, we hand torque barrels on today. So Joel and I engage in a nice conversation about the Terminus Actions and how they change the game for the end-user. #snipershide #everdaysniperpodcast #terminusactions #practicalmarksmanship Thanks to Joel Russo for coming on the Everyday Sniper Podcast, thanks to all the listeners, and commenters we have. Ep 320The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition, Changing the Thought Pattern

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition, Changing the Thought Pattern I'll be honest with you guys here, I have no friggin clue what I said during this podcast. I mean I have a high-level idea of what I said, but frankly speaking, it's a blur. I know I spoke about training and competitions as I feel the mindset behind some of it needs to change. Not so much on the training side, that was more about the instructors. But on the competition side, I think we are ripe for something different. Think of it as a great reset. Nothing out there says you can't change the way we shoot matches right now. So why not try something outside the box we are currently living in? I don't have all the answers, but I know we have a lot of questions and I'm hoping to open the door to discussions around it. I feel the answer is out there, maybe not a one-person answer, but a group think version is definitely on the horizon. We just need to head that way. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for commenting, and appreciate your continued support. #snipershide #everydaysniperpodcast #EDS #Lowlight #practicalmarksmanship

Ep 318The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Safety First !

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Safety First! Safety First Folk!, There is a reason we harp on safety, safety is the one thing that can make an entire community look bad. If a picture tells 1000 words, what does a gunshot say, well ask Alec B, he can tell you what a lapse in safety can do to you. In this episode, you get a nice little Frank rant on safety after the events of the weekend. People want to shoot the messenger to hide a violation rather than address the issue head-on. Once it's public a public response is needed. So enjoy that rant. Next, we talk Guardian Competition, the week prior we traveled to F7 in Texas. Gary Larson had his Guardian Event which I totally support. At the same time, we also had the Gathering of Snipers. I enjoyed seeing everyone at the Gathering and Guardian Events. Quick Review, Zeiss LRP Scope is a winner. I touch on this a bit, I love it. Anyway, I am getting back into the podcast swing of things. I need to get my groove back on, so I am ranting a bit to get my rhythm back. But thanks for listening, sharing, and commenting.

Ep 316The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Iron Bridle South CR2 Class

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Iron Bridle South CR2 Class Hey wanted to drop a podcast before I finish the year out. Had a great class with the CR2 Crew in South Texas. So with everyone together we wanted to knock out a podcast. Chris Roberts and John Carughi AKA the Weapon Snatcher Last week we went to the the Precision Rifle Expo in Blakely GA. So while I was there I got to sample the new Zeiss LRP scope. In fact, I have one in my possession. Then we spent an extra day with Theis with Hoplite Arms shooting their new rifle out to 2300+ Yards. The rifle is absolutely amazing. However the night before we had an Awesome dinner with the Squirrel Mafia. Then we took a direct flight to Texas to meet with Chris Rance and Chris Roberts and the CR2 crew at Iron Bridle. But the big surprise came from a Student in the class. If you remember the Seattle riots, the executive security officer who took the M4s from the Antifa rioters is here, Weapon Snatcher, yep that guy. USMC guys from 1/3, he is in the class, so we invited him on the podcast. The topics covered: CR2 Training Schedule for 2022 Precision Rifle Expo Zeiss LRP 5-25x Hoplite Arms Game Changers Weapon Snatcher Stuff Anyway, I appreciate you sticking by the podcast even though the episodes are few and far between right now. However I am seeing the exact end of my tunnel and plan on dropping a new format and new episodes very soon. Anyway thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and enjoy the good time. We did... Ep 314The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris Roberts CR2 Shooting Solutions, Shot Process Discussion

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Chris Roberts CR2 Shooting Solutions, Shot Process Discussion In this episode of the Everyday Sniper Podcast, Chris Roberts and I talk classes, the Shot Process, and how we go about including the Fundamentals of Marksmanship along with the Shot Process. The military breaks it down as SACM, which is Stability, Aiming, Control and Movement. These all include the fundamentals but it also puts them in their proper place or context. We can certainly compromise and a lot of do, the question, where do you compromise, why do you compromise and when you do you recognize the compromise as something that might hinder your shooting. We can include the fundamentals along side the process, as everything is a process really. WTF is a shot process, we have Wind, that is wildcard I need to consider that first, then the Target we are shooting, what is the range and the elevation needed to shoot that particular target. Then the fundamentals of marksmanship to put it all together. its a mindset thing and we talk a lot about Mindset too. Cr2 and I will be teaching together the weekend of November 5th in Texas at Bridle Iron 2021. So if you are interested in attending stop by the CR2 Site or Sniper's Hide for details. We'll be back, thanks for listening, sharing, and sticking with me while I deal with this stuff.

Great conversations to be had in this awesome discussion of Guardian Competitions. Theses are the matches to get your feet wet. Ep 300The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Natural Point of Aim is Key

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Natural Point of Aim is Key It's all about the NPA folks, spent the weekend shooting, learning, experimenting, trying to figure out what the hey. Had a day with Chris Way on the range testing various positions as well as the why's behind it. When shooting positional, tripod, NPA is a much bigger factor than people realize. We tested this and Chris will be posting a video to the Kraft YT Channel soon enough. But we tested shooting in the heavy wind straight on and shooting in the wind with NPA bladed slightly into it. Results were amazing. Then I get into a few ideas with the Fighting Rifleman. I Like the idea of the fighting rifleman vs the practical marksman. Subtle yet different enough to matter. Finally looked at a Riton Scope this week, the internals were spot on. More to come, prepare for video Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing thanks for commenting. Cheers,

Ep 292The Everyday Sniper Podcast: CR2 Shooting Solutions Chris Roberts Talks Marksmanship

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: CR2 Shooting Solutions Chris Roberts Talks Marksmanship If these episodes don't make you think about your marksmanship nothing will. I have Chris Roberts on the phone, 1/2 of CR2 Shooting Solutions. I will doing a class with Cr2 down in Texas this year, so listen up for details. There are a lot of variables in our approach to shooting targets. We can look at it from a competition setting or a field endeavor, how we approach the shot should be very similar. The question of a standard comes up a lot. 3 shot groups or 5 shot groups which is the standard and why? Stuff like that, where each questions opens up another path with more questions. It's a great conversation with Chris I think you will enjoy it. Thanks for listening to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, thanks for sharing the EDS and thanks for commenting in the App.

Ep 291The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Accuracy International Scott Siegmund

E

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Accuracy International Scott Siegmund Today on the Everyday Sniper Podcast we have Scott Siegmund of Accuracy International. This week AI announced the New AI ATX Competition rifle. We were out at the range and talked about the ATX rifle and how it grew out of the Accuracy International AT/AX generations. It's a great conversation. The rifles are simply amazing to shoot, I loved every round. Once you realize you can tune the rifle , the recoil is in in a straight and hardly there. They just sit, and reply. Thanks to all the Team AI Guys that came out, Matt, Rhett, and JR it was a ton of fun, hanging out, shooting, hitting stuff, including the house cat at 900 yards. (Steel, not real) Safe trip home. Thanks for listening thanks, for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper.
