S6 Ep 515515. Embodied Spirituality : Jeff Brown

E

Taken from our recent Embodied Spirituality course. Jeff Brown talks about the practice and application of being grounded and truly embodying our spirituality. To join our courses and our community go to www.embodimentunlimited.com Find Mark Walsh on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/warkmalsh/ About Jeff Brown Jeff's innovative new terms and short writings continue to be a growing phenomenon, widely shared by seekers and growers worldwide. His quotes have been shared in social media by Brain Games co-host Jason Silva, actress Chrissy Metz, songstresses Alanis Morissette and Fergie, and many other well-known figures. Most beautifully, they have touched and benefitted millions of souls. Jeff now understands that each step on his path laid down the foundation of a new model: Grounded Spirituality. The challenges he faced, and the countless steps of overcoming were intended for this purpose: to support humanity in their efforts to embody all that they are. Not to bypass their humanness, but to celebrate it. Not to find enlightenment independent of the self, but to find enrealment deep within it. Here we are, just as we are. He has spent the past several years, further forging and articulating his realizations, honing his voice, and shaping this new model. After an intensive and laborious process, buried in his writing cave outside Toronto, Jeff brought forth his most comprehensive work to date. Published in March 2019, the book Grounded Spirituality calls out and critically reviews ungrounded spiritualities, and presents a new model of authentic humanness, offering us a more integrated, embodied, and heartfelt path going forward. In November 2020, Jeff's 4th book of popular quotes, Hearticulations, was published. Endorsed by Grammy Award-Winning singer LeAnn Rimes, Hearticulations reminds us of the golden threads that bind us together and that there is more that connects us than divides us. Jeff is presently breaking new ground as an Enrealment Activist, with lots of exciting plans in the works including: a facilitators' training course for Grounded Spirituality; a soon-to-be-launched podcast and video interface; a plethora of new courses at Soulshaping Institute; co-creating benevolent movements; traveling the world teaching and connecting with his supporters…. and whatever other unexpected surprises await this wildly rich path of Sacred Purpose. Stay tuned! https://jeffbrown.co/books/

Mark covers "Falling back in love with ourselves", "How to actually enjoy life and "The antidote to decadence." www.embodimentunlimited.com for community, courses and free stuff from the leaders in the field of embodiment. Mark on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/warkmalsh/ "In a decadent society people die from comfort, fail from ease, and hate life because of luxury. We have an excess of food so die of heart attacks and the like. This is established. The easiest products to buy are high sugar, high processed fats, alcohol etc. We are surrounded by dopamine mouth crack, and then told we need willpower to diet. The deep satisfactions of life are also only found the other side of HARD too. Finding purpose is uncomfortable until it's a joy. Long-term relationships are sometimes uncomfortable as well as a joy. Deep spiritual practice is uncomfortable as well as a joy. Growth is hard. People are hard. Life is hard FFS!"

S5 Ep 494494. Anatomy and Touch Myths : Julian Baker

E

Manual therapist Julian joins Mark to talk Bowen Technique, fascia, what massage actually is, why touch matters, anatomy and religion, what stretching does, core stability, foam roller, "release", bouldering, and we he doesn't bone in exercise. A iconoclastic one. About Julian A former chef from leaving school, Julian Baker has led the most bizarre of lives, ranging from cooking for the Royal Family to running jelly wresting events in the Australian outback and performing stand up comedy in pubs. These days he has turned his attention to disrupting the field of anatomy, challenging the foundations of medicine and the way that undergraduates are taught about the body, believing that "Anatomy is incomplete at best and dangerously wrong at worst." On the other side of the coin, he has been involved in the field of complementary therapy for thirty years and has equal disdain for some of the ideas espoused by the therapy world. "You can't release fascia, it's not a box of doves" being a favourite. He believes that somewhere in the middle, between scientific/medical arrogance and the anti-vaccination movement, lies a beautiful truth that will heal the world. E

Can we make spirituality embodied? Mark talks about his childhood living in a mystic - catholic household much like any religion has a mystic element to it. He then describes the many variables of what 'spirituality' could be and, the experiences with that such as meditation, state chasing, spiritual intelligence. He moves on to talk about the recent movement in the West particularly the UK where people have come away from the churches and are exploring other methods of spiritual practice such as yoga, martial arts and tai chi Impersonation of spiritual roots as a way to relearn or to seek a deeper understanding; pagan, religious, indigenous, ritualist, plant medicine, psychedelics or trance states; all elements of ways we may seek to connect that isn't maybe our childhood cultural experience. What is the connect or disconnect with higher states of spiritual practices and more grounded somatic, psychological examples such as shadow-work. S5 Ep 483483. Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and Don Hanlon Johnson - With Mark Walsh

From 'Best of the Embodiment Conference'. A conversation with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and Don Hanlon Johnson - not to be missed. Body-Mind Centering® (BMC®) is an integrated approach to transformative experience through movement re-education and hands-on repatterning. Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, it is an experiential study based on the embodiment and application of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical, and developmental principles, and utilizes movement, touch, voice, and consciousness. This study leads to an understanding of how the mind is expressed through the body and the body through the mind. Body-Mind Centering® has an almost unlimited number wide areas of application. It is currently being used by people in movement, dance, yoga, bodywork, physical and occupational therapy, psychotherapy, child development, education, voice, music, art, meditation, athletics, and other body-mind disciplines. Please visit the Body-Mind Centering® website for more information. Bonnie's Bio Bonnie is a movement artist, researcher, educator, and therapist, and the developer of the Body-Mind Centering® (BMC®) approach to movement, the body, and consciousness. For over 50 years, I've been exploring the anatomical, embryological, and developmental foundations of movement and how they relate to our psychophysical processes and wellbeing. Don's Bio I have spent nearly half a century studying how transformative body practices can enhance personal and social change, and how they can impair it. I came to these practices out of a study of philosophy, which luminously articulates the disastrous social and personal results of the mind/body split enbedded in mainstream thinking and institution-building. I have tried to find methods for healing these splits in the academic world of writing, pedagogy, and research; in the personal realm of self-cultivation; and in the larger world of social change. At the deepest level, I look to these practices as a source of a spirituality grounded in the flesh of human yearning. My work is centered in the graduate degree programs in Somatics at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.
