‘The Chosen’ Actors on Joys and Challenges of Portraying Biblical Characters

The Bible provides readers with glimpses into the personalities of Jesus' Twelve Apostles, but little is know about the details of their lives. That can be both a challenge and creative opportunity for the actors and writers on the set of the hit series “The Chosen.” “We know he's known as ‘Doubting Thomas,’” says Joey Vahedi, the actor who plays Thomas on the multiseason series. But the question that Vahedi says he has the opportunity to answer is “why is [Thomas] that person?” The writers of the show, Vahedi says, “take such great liberty with bringing this human perspective to all the characters, because we got to remember they're not saints yet.” The character of Thomas is significantly developed in the first three episodes of season four of “The Chosen,” which are in theaters now. Season four picks up right where season three left off, and “I think you get to see a much, much sweeter and kinder side to Thomas,” Vahedi says. “He's out of his shell, finally feels comfortable. He's ready. And on the flip side of that, Jesus' message is getting so much more radical, to the point where it is dangerous for everybody now.” Even outside of the Apostles, the latest season of “The Chosen” shows how the message of Jesus is affecting everyone who hears it. Kirk B. Woller, who plays the role of the Roman soldier Gaius, says his character is “toying with” the message he's hearing Jesus speak. “There's just great responsibility to me in all of this” to portray his character accurately, Woller said. Woller and Vahedi join “The Daily Signal Podcast” to share their own stories of how they became a part of “The Chosen” cast, and the hardest and most rewarding parts of playing their roles as they develop further in the new season. Rep. Mark Green: What's Next After House Impeached Mayorkas

The House on Tuesday voted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, but the Democrat-controlled Senate is not expected to vote to remove him from office. “There isn't a whole lot of power we have,” Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said of House members’ ability to push the Senate to hold a trial to consider ousting the homeland security chief. With the two articles of impeachment now in the hands of the Senate, Green explained, Senate Majority Leader “Chuck Schumer and his guys can … either not hear it at all, they can have us come over and be referred to a committee and it's heard then in a committee and dies in a committee, or they can have us present to the entire Senate.” Green and his colleagues who backed the impeachment are “going to get loud,” the Tennessee lawmaker said. “We're going to get really loud. They're going to pay for it if they don't do something,” Green said of the Senate, “because the American people are with us on this.” Green joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss what the House Homeland Security Committee uncovered during its nearly yearlong investigation into Mayorkas that culminated in the secretary's impeachment. ‘Totally Out of Whack’: Elbridge Colby on Senate Foreign Aid Bill

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, a group of conservative senators ran out of procedural options for debating a $95 billion funding bill for Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific. In the middle of the night, Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; Mike Lee, R-Utah; Rand Paul, R-Ky.; Pete Ricketts, R-Neb.; Marco Rubio, R-Fla.; Eric Schmitt, R-Mo.; Rick Scott, R-Fla.; and JD Vance, R-Ohio, articulated their opposition. When they ran out of options, the tandem of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., moved swiftly to pass the bill on a vote of 70 to 29. That included 22 Republicans who voted for foreign aid without addressing America's own border crisis. The measure now moves to the House of Representatives, where Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has pledged to hold the line at the urging of conservatives. National security expert Elbridge Colby, co-founder and principal at The Marathon Initiative, spoke with The Daily Signal about what’s playing out on Capitol Hill and why he thinks this legislation misses the mark. He also explained how the United States should be prioritizing its national security. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. Nuclear Threat Posed by Iran

If Iran acquires nuclear weapons, the threat it would pose to the U.S. would be significantly different from that of other aggressors, such as Russia, according to Simone Ledeen. There's significant concern of “a nuclear bomb with a country that says routinely, ‘Death to America, death to Israel,’” says Ledeen, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East. With Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen firing rockets at ships in the Red Sea, the U.S. “should be targeting logistics points, leadership, [and] proxies outside of Iran in the region,” she said. “We could be engaging in some pinpoint targeting inside of Iran as well.” According to Ledeen—a senior fellow at the Austin, Texas-based Strauss Center for International Security and Law—Iran and its proxies operate like an octopus, with Iran serving as the head and militant groups such as the Houthis and Hezbollah as the "many tentacles." Ledeen joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” ahead of her testimony Wednesday before the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia to explain what her message to Congress will be, and what actions the Biden administration is not taking—but should take—against Iran. Coign: The Credit Card That Aligns With Conservative Values

Americans love spending money. Imagine being able to do so and support conservative causes using your credit card. Now you can. Coign is seeking to fill a void in the credit card market by giving conservatives an alternative its competitors, many of which embrace left-wing causes. The credit card has all the features and benefits you’d expect, but it also donates a portion of every transaction to a conservative nonprofit. Rob Collins, founder and chief executive of Coign, tells The Daily Signal he created a credit card specifically for conservatives because other companies didn’t share his values and political views. After spending years working in conservative politics, Collins launched Coign two years ago. The company has already given away $150,000 to organizations with conservative beliefs, including The Heritage Foundation. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news outlet.) On today’s episode of “The Daily Signal Podcast,” Collins explains how Coign works and what the future holds for this conservative credit card. Our conversation has been edited for length. Transgender Series Part 3: Detransitioner Medical Malpractice Lawsuits

Medical malpractice lawsuits on behalf of detransitioners harmed by experimental treatments euphemistically referred to as “gender-affirming care” will yield multimillion-dollar judgments, a lawyer filing such suits predicts. Ron Miller helped found the law firm Campbell Miller Payne, which represents people who formerly identified as transgender, underwent medical alterations, then rejected their transgender identities, and now lament the harm done to their bodies. These detransitioners are suing their doctors and medical providers for damages in a novel kind of medical malpractice claim. “A troubled youth—typically with either a bad family life or suffering from several psychological comorbidities, such as autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, anorexia, dissociative identity disorders ... will show up to a practitioner stating that they're uncomfortable with their body or [that] they have odd feelings,” Miller tells “The Daily Signal Podcast.” Enjoy the show! Transgender Series Part 2: Why Parents Can't Trust Mental Health Professionals

Unfortunately, parents can't trust mental health professionals on the issue of a transgender identity, a veteran social worker warns. Pamela Garfield-Jaeger, a social worker with decades of experience dealing with mental health professionals and vulnerable people, warns that the over-psychologizing of childhood is contributing to the rise of rapid-onset gender dysphoria and the trauma of kids mutilating their own bodies to pursue a transgender identity, rather than dealing with underlying psychological issues. Garfield-Jaeger, who lost her job because she refused to take a COVID-19 vaccine, now runs a practice called “The Truthful Therapist,” where she helps parents navigate the potentially fraught field of mental health. Many parents struggle to navigate mental health and find themselves demonized by the very professionals who they trust to help their kids. “I talk to parents who either are still in the thick of it, where their children are still identifying as trans, or where their child has desisted, where the time that their children felt the most distress is when they believed that their parents no longer love them or care about them or accept them because that's what the trans community and the therapists and the doctors” say, Garfield-Jaeger tells “The Daily Signal Podcast.” Enjoy the show! Transgender Series Part 1: What Is Rapid-Onset Gender Dysphoria and Why Does It Matter?

Studies have suggested that the number of young people who identify as transgender has exploded in recent years. While activists claim that these people are just discovering a latent truth suppressed by society, some scientists have set out to question what lies behind a phenomenon they term "rapid-onset gender dysphoria." Leor Sapir, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, has worked with Lisa Littman, a doctor who first coined the term rapid-onset gender dysphoria and laid out her hypothesis in the medical journal PLOS One. Sapir joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to break down what ROGD is, why some activist scientists have failed to disprove it, and what he and Littman have done to advance the theory. Enjoy the show! What's Really in Senate's 370-Page 'Border Bill'

The Senate released the text of a 370-page spending bill Sunday that includes about $20 billion for border-related provisions and $60 billion for Ukraine. The bill was originally intended to be a bipartisan compromise giving Democrats the Ukraine funding they have advocated for, and Republicans the border-security measure they have called for. But border policy experts say the bill does nothing to stop the flow of illegal immigration. Rosemary Jenks, director of government relations for the Immigration Accountability Project, and Mike Howell, director of The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, join "The Daily Signal Podcast" to explain what is, and is not, in the Senate’s bill. Abortion Pill Reversal Saved Her Baby Girl’s Life

Katelynn Perry sat in her bathtub doing Google searches on her phone. Was there a way to save her unborn baby? She had taken the first chemical abortion pill that day and had decided she was not going to take the rest. After visiting Planned Parenthood, Perry says, she “knew that taking that first pill was wrong,” adding, “I shouldn't have let them influence me.” Perry already had four kids when she found out she was pregnant with her fifth child, and given the financial struggles she and her husband were facing, she had decided to visit Planned Parenthood to discuss her options. “When I tried to ask questions, they were kind of shot down. They weren't really answered in full,” Perry said of her trip to the clinic. “They used a lot of medical terms that I didn't understand.” After taking the first abortion pill at Planned Parenthood, Perry was instructed to go to her local pharmacy to pick up the other pills to complete the abortion, but she decided she wouldn't do that. Her Google searches led Perry to Heartbeat International’s Abortion Pill Rescue Network website. She called the number and spoke to a nurse who told her it was possible that her baby was still alive and could be saved. The nurse connected Perry with a pregnancy resource center about an hour away in Lynchburg, Virginia. When she arrived, the first step was an ultrasound to see whether the baby was still alive. “We do the ultrasound; she still has a heartbeat,” Perry said of her baby. The medical staff at the pro-life center explained to Perry how the abortion pill reversal works through a 12-week hormone therapy. Today, Perry’s baby girl, Aubrey, is just over a year old, healthy and “the sweetest little girl you would ever meet,” her mother says. Perry joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to share her story and inform other women that the abortion-reversal pill can save the life of the unborn. Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. City Attempts to Shut Down Church’s Ministry to Poor. Pastor Is Fighting Back

After seeing the needs in his community, Pastor Chris Avell made the decision to keep the doors of his church open 24/7. “We're called to reach the lost 24/7,” Avell says, adding that this includes the “the hurting, the broken, the least of these.” Pastor Chris Avell opened the doors of his church, called Dad’s Place in Bryan, Ohio, to the needy in the community so they know they have a place to find help 24/7. Dad's Place is “a place they can come if they're weary and burdened and find rest and true rest for their souls,” the pastor says. Some people in the community, whether those struggling with mental health, addiction, or with physical needs, began frequenting the church and even sleeping there if they needed a place to stay. But several months after the church opened its doors wide with round the clock help for the needy, the city told Avell he had to stop. “According to the city,” First Liberty attorney Jeremy Dys explains, “Dad's Place has converted itself from being a church and into a homeless shelter, which they believe is a change of use from the approval that the city had previously given for them to be a church. Well, of course, that's not true,” Dys says. “This is a church and they're doing church things,” Dys says of Dad's Place, adding that churches throughout history have kept their doors open 24 hours a day in order to fulfill the Biblical mandate to serve the needly. Avell, along with Dys, join “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain how he is fighting to continue doing the work he and the congregation at Dad’s Place feel called by God to do. Enjoy the show! New Research on 'Conversion Therapy' Turns LGBTQ Narrative on Its Head

On today's show, Tyler O'Neil sits down with Father Paul Sullins, senior research associate at the Ruth Institute and a former sociology professor at Catholic University, to discuss his research into "sexual orientation change efforts." Sullins analyzes the best data on how people who identify as homosexual have fared after undergoing therapies to address psychological issues that might underlie their same-sex attraction. While many U.S. states and health organizations claim that these efforts, often branded "conversion therapy," increase the risk of suicide, Sullins finds the exact opposite. LGB people who underwent SOCE were actually less likely to have suicidal thoughts AFTER the therapy. This finding turns the literature on its head and suggests that therapy to resolve issues underlying same-sex attraction may help LGB people, even if such therapy does not lead them to reject homosexuality. Iran-Backed Militants Killed 3 Soldiers. Here's How the US Should Respond

President Joe Biden says the U.S. “shall respond” after a drone attack Sunday left three U.S. Army soldiers dead and more than 30 others wounded at a base in Jordan. Iran-backed militias were reported to be responsible for the deadly drone attack, and in response, Robert Greenway says, the U.S. needs to make Iran “feel the cost” of its actions. (Iran denied any responsibility for the attack.) Greenway, director of the Allison Center for National Security at The Heritage Foundation, says the attacks will continue if Iran does not feel swift and certain consequences. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.) Greenway, who served on the National Security Council in the Trump administration, says he would advise Biden, first, to “stop paying them [Iran] money. Two, we need to stop paying other governments money that ends up in the hands of perpetrators like Kataib Hezbollah.” And finally, Greenways says, the "[Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] serving officers, the arm of the Iranian government that executes these attacks … need to be attacked, and they need to be held accountable for the attacks.” Greenway joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to share what we know about the attack on the U.S. base in Jordan and how the Biden administration is likely to respond. Strive Offers Investors Alternative to ESG-Driven Companies

In the investment and financial services industry, companies like BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard are dominate players. But they’re also increasingly beholden to stakeholder activism. That’s resulted in a greater focus on leftist ideas like DEI—diversity, equity, and inclusion—and ESG—environmental, social, and corporate governance. Strive takes a different approach. It’s focused on maximizing value for investors—and it’s having great success. Today, Strive has over $1 billion in assets—just two years after its founding. On today's episode of "The Daily Signal Podcast," Strive's CEO and chief investment officer explains the company's mission and why it's thriving. In Israel: Sounds of War Mingle With Songs of Life

Bullet holes and toppled furniture bear witness to what happened in the home of one young couple living in Israel close to the border with Gaza on Oct. 7. Their home still partially stands, but they—and about 100 other members of their small community—are dead. Walking through the streets of the small village, Joel Griffith says, “You could tell it once was a very beautiful place.” Griffith, who is Jewish and serves as a research fellow in the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies at The Heritage Foundation, recently returned from a trip to Israel. His mission was both to “support, but also bear witness to the evil” that took place in Israel on Oct. 7 when Hamas carried out a brutal terrorist attack that killed about 1,200 people. Walking out of the home of the slain couple, Griffith says, he saw two “Jewish men playing guitar and singing, and gathered around them were others—soldiers, non-soldiers, Israelis, non-Israelis (such as myself), people who were religious, people who visibly weren't religious, but all gathered together singing.” One of the songs they sang, according to Griffith, was “Am Yisrael Chai,” which translates to “The people of Israel live.” Standing there singing in a “place where so many lives were lost” and with “gunfire” and the sounds of “artillery” in the background, “was a powerful moment,” he says. Griffith joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss what he saw and heard in Israel three months after the Hamas terrorist attack. Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. One Mission: Serve Navy SEALs' Kids With Learning Disabilities

Navy SEAL deployments are often long and grueling, and leaving school-age children behind only adds to the challenge, especially if the children are struggling in school. If a father is “getting ready to go on mission, and there's Timmy failing in second grade, that's all he's going to think about,” says Gretchen McIntosh, the executive director of SEALKIDS. And for the mothers at home with a husband deployed and a child struggling academically, McIntosh says, Mom is often “stressed out” by the task of meeting the needs of a “child at home that has a learning disability.” Out of seeing an immense need for additional educational support for many Navy SEAL families, the organization SEALKIDS was born. “SEALKIDS steps in so that Dad can concentrate on his mission ahead, because we're handling the mission at home,” McIntosh explains. SEALKIDS not only connects families to tutors and other education resources in their area, but also raises funds to help the families pay for those additional resources. SEALKIDS is active in 17 states and is serving 390 kids this year, with a focus on helping children with learning disabilities. McIntosh joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” during National School Choice Week to share the stories of the families the organization has helped and to explain how it hopes to expand its work to serve even more SEAL families. Taiwan Elected a New President. He Faces Big China Challenges

Taiwan’s new president has his work cut out for him, Michael Cunningham says. “He’s not in an easy position,” Cunningham, a research fellow in the Asian Studies Center of The Heritage Foundation, says of President-elect Lai Ching-te. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.) “Beijing deeply distrusts” the political party Lai is a member of because China’s leaders think that party is “intent on seeking formal independence from China,” Cunningham says. While it’s likely Lai will maintain the status quo and not seek formal independence from China, Cunningham predicts China will continue applying pressure to Taiwan. During his presidency, Lai, 64, is “probably going to have to constantly be responding to provocations by Beijing,” he said. Lai, currently vice president, takes office May 20. Cunningham was in Taiwan during the election on Jan. 13 and joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain why Taiwan’s freedom directly affects America. He also explains why he thinks it’s unlikely China will launch a full-scale invasion of Taiwan anytime in the near future. Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Biologist vs. Southern Poverty Law Center

Ph.D. biologist Colin Wright is publicly inviting the Southern Poverty Law Center to debate him on the subject of what the SPLC calls "anti-LGBTQ+ pseudoscience," specifically on the transgender issue. The SPLC released a 41,000-word report claiming that "the controversy over trans health care is manufactured to reinforce both white supremacy and the political goals of the Christian Right." The report claims to reveal "anti-LGBTQ+ pseudoscience," but it does not seriously address the concerns of critics of the transgender movement. The report mentions Wright, a Manhattan Institute fellow, as part of the movement pushing "pseudoscience." "It's almost not really worth responding to," Wright tells "The Daily Signal Podcast" of the SPLC report. "It is such a poor, poorly put together document, riddled with typos." "Most importantly, it justs makes all these accusations that I'm peddling 'pseudoscience,' that type of thing," he adds. "It doesn't engage with any of the actual arguments and the substance of what I'm saying, or what anyone else mentioned in the report is saying. There's not really anything to respond to." He calls the report "completely ridiculous." "It's purely just a smear piece," Wright says. "They just want to garner attention and stir outrage." Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. Mississippi AG Lynn Fitch Introduces App Connecting Moms to Resources

Expectant mothers in Mississippi now can access resources to receive essentials, from food and clothing to child care and financial assistance, through a mobile app dubbed MAMA. Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch on Tuesday unveiled the Mississippi Access to Maternal Assistance mobile app, or MAMA, to connect moms easily with the resources they need to care for their children. Mothers or pregnant women now can "find not only the public resources that are available but private resources and faith-based resources, all in one place," Fitch says of the new tool. "And that is so significant for young mothers to be able to find things that they need, questions they might have, all together." Fitch led the way on the legal case out of Mississippi called Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which ultimately led the Supreme Court in June 2022 to overturn its 1973 decision on abortion in Roe v. Wade. A year and a half later, Fitch says, the pro-life movement is working hard to provide women with easy access to what they need to choose life for their children. "Remember, we asked the court to give the responsibilities to us," Fitch says of arguments made to the Supreme Court in the Dobbs case. "So we're now embracing that. It is so important that we talk about it, we take action, we implement things that are important for these young mothers, mothers-to-be, and these children." Fitch joins this episode of “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss how the MAMA mobile app can serve as a model tool for other states, as well as to celebrate the 51st annual March for Life, which takies place Friday in Washington, D.C. Back From Israel: Morgan Ortagus Recounts Stories of Trauma

Israeli leaders such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “look like shells of their former selves,” commentator Morgan Ortagus says, following meetings in Israel earlier this month. But Ortagus, who was State Department spokesperson under President Donald Trump, says the weariness extends to the people of Israel, many of whom remain “traumatized” from the Hamas terrorist attacks Oct. 7. “The very existence of the state of Israel is threatened whenever they are attacked,” she says, adding, “It's a tiny country. It's a tiny people." "So when they are attacked, it's existential to their surviva," Ortagus says. "And we of course know that more Jews were killed on Oct. 7 than on any other day since the Holocaust. So I know that has to weigh with the leadership.” As host of “The Morgan Ortagus Show,” a new Sunday offering on SiriusXM Patriot, the former State Department official is using her platform, and her nearly two decades of national security experience, to communicate the history of tension in the Middle East and what America's role should be. Ortagus joins this episode of “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain what she learned after meeting with Netantahu and other senior leaders in Israel and Saudi Arabia, and visiting some of the kibbutzim where Hamas terrorists tortured, raped, and slaughtered Israelis on Oct. 7. USA Boxing’s New Transgender Rule Could ‘Kill a Woman,’ Coach Warns

USA Boxing has changed its rules to allow men who identify as women to compete in the female category, a change that coach Cary Williams warns could be deadly. Even one man competing against women is “all it takes to do damage; that’s all it takes to kill a woman,” says Williams, a USA Olympic-level female boxing coach. “I’m extremely scared for the safety of our girls and our women in boxing,” she told “The Daily Signal Podcast.” The new policy requires males to meet specific hormone levels and to have undergone surgery to “alter” their gender. But Williams says the new policy does not acknowledge that men have “larger hearts, larger lungs, bone density, strength.” “You’re talking about muscle-fiber differences. Those are all something we’re born with,” she says. Williams, the founder of women’s fight-gear brand Tussle, joins the show to discuss USA Boxing’s rule change and what she thinks female boxers should do to stand up against the dangerous policy. Trump Won Iowa. Political Insider Explains Why

The polls didn't lie. Former President Donald Trump was projected to be the winner of the Iowa caucuses Monday night just about 30 minutes after they began. In the polls, Trump had a 30-point lead, give or take, over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as Iowans arrived at their caucus locations at 7 p.m. local time. Following his win, Trump told Fox News Digital that he is “greatly honored by such an early call." "It really is an honor that, minutes after, they’ve announced I’ve won—against very credible competition—great competition, actually," Trump said. Eli Huber, Iowa state director of Heritage Action for America, told “The Daily Signal Podcast” he is not surprised by the caucus results. “Based off my conversations with activists all around the state of Iowa, I'm not really surprised that President Trump, despite now being nearly four years since he was in office, continues to have a lot of the same energy that we saw back in 2020,” Huber says. New Hampshire voters will head to the polls Jan. 23 to cast their ballots in the first primary of the 2024 election, followed by South Carolina voters on Feb. 24. Huber joins the show to discuss the results of the Iowa caucuses, and the leading issues on the minds of voters as they begin casting ballots for the Republican 2024 presidential nominee. Hungary and a ‘Last Warning to the West’

For years, especially during the Cold War, Hungary looked to America as an example of freedom, but now it might be time for the U.S. to take notes from Hungary, according to Shea Bradley-Farrell. Bradley-Farrell, president of the Counterpoint Institute for Policy, Research and Education, recently spent several months in Hungary doing research for her new book. While in the European nation formerly controlled by the then-Soviet Union, Bradley-Farrell says she found herself often having a similar conversation with Hungarians. “Hungarians told me over and over, ‘the rhetoric coming out of the United States reminds us of our Soviet era,’” Bradley-Farrell recalled. “And the more I dug into that, the more that I realized that the things that we’re dealing with here and the so-called progressive agenda, the woke agenda, the Biden administration, they’re directly out of the playbook of communism,” she says. In her new book, “Last Warning to the West: Hungary’s Triumph Over Communism and the Woke Agenda,” Bradley-Farrell explains a roadmap for how America can correct course and learn from our friends in Hungary at this moment in history. Bradley-Farrell joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the book and share the stories of conversation she had in Hungary. Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. Can Higher Education Be Saved?

Claudine Gay resigned Jan. 2 as Harvard’s president following outrage over antisemitism at the Ivy League school and amid claims that Gay plagiarized in her academic writings. Her resignation provides higher education institutions an opportunity to reconsider the leftist agenda-laden waters most “elite” colleges and universities swim in. As more people realize the true agenda of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, Cornell law professor William Jacobson says they see that “we now need to get rid of DEI.” But a big hurdle is that DEI officers and those employed at universities to promote the DEI agenda are “everywhere on campuses, and they're gonna fight for their jobs,” Jacobson says, adding that “a lot of money is involved here.” Asked whether he thinks higher education can be saved, Jacobson tells “The Daily Signal Podcast” it's a question he wrestles with. “I don't know if academia can be saved,” Jacobson says. “And I've said many times, for many years, it certainly cannot be reformed from within.” Jacobson joins the podcast to explain how antisemitism at Cornell, Harvard, and other elite colleges and universities has shone a light on the harms of the DEI agenda and how there may still be a way for higher education to move away from a radical leftist agenda.
