After becoming a flood victim, Gus T. began investing more in his mental and physical health. To compensate for the distress of housing dislocation, he returned to a vegan diet and resumed a daily yoga practice. Healthier diet and regular exercise had a constructive, dramatic and immediate impact on Gus's health and well being. However, attending White-dominated yoga studios can present it's own menaces. Speaking of predators, Travis Reinking, a White man, murdered four non-white people at a Tennessee Waffle House. He was eventually arrested and charged with murder. Mr. Reinking had a history of terroristic behavior; in 2017, he illegally crossed a White House security barrier and was taken into custody. Unlike Miriam I. Carey, a black mother who was shot and killed near the White House in 2013, enforcement officials did not deem Reinking a lethal threat last year. In the state of Alabama, where J. Marion Sims still has a statue, Bryan Stevenson and fellow organizers constructed "the country's first site dedicated to the legacy of black people lynched in the United States." Gus found it curious that Starbucks didn't institute "racial bias" training for their employees in 2015 when they attracted national attention and scorn for their campaign to encourage dialog between customers and baristas about Racism. Sims enslaved and tortured black females to refine his medical research, and for years many protested the statues throughout the U.S. in his honor. Trump joined an international White posse including Britain and France in launching a military attack in Syria. Speaking of brute White force, a black 14-year-old Michigan teen was nearly killed by a White man for missing the school bus. Brennan Walker knocked on retired firefighter Jeffrey Ziegler's door in hopes of getting directions to his school. Ziegler's wife allegedly accused the black teen of breaking into the house, and the former fireman grabbed a shotgun and began shooting at Walker. The teen was uninjured, and Ziegler was arrested and charged with attempted murder. In other court news, disgraced entertainment legend Bill Cosby began his retrial facing charges of sexual misconduct. The week also marked a half century since Black Panther Party member Bobby Hutton was gunned down by California police. Demonstrating a pitiful continuity, protests over the police killing of an unarmed black male, Stephon Clark, continue to roil California's state capitol. Speaking of dangerous black people, former Hollywood darling Bill Cosby returned to a Pennsylvania court this week for the start of a second trial to decide whether he's guilty of sexual misconduct. Dr. Robert Jensen returns to The Context of White Supremacy. A Suspected Racist and the author of The Heart of Whiteness, Dr. Jensen is a professor at the University of Texas Austin. Last week, suspected "White Identity Extremist" Mark Anthony Conditt allegedly self-terminated during a standoff with enforcement officials. Conditt is suspected of orchestrating a terrorist campaign in the town of Austin. A series of package bombs were delivered throughout the region, killing two black males and severely injuring four others. Mark Anthony Conditt, a 24-year-old White Man, allegedly blew himself up during a confrontation with enforcement officials. Conditt's motives for the homicidal attacks have not been officially identified, although the suspected White Identity Extremist reportedly authored a confession. Numerous news outlets and enforcement officials have declined to identify Conduit as a terrorist; some have gone to great length to explain their word choice. South of the equator in Brazil, the assassination of Marielle Franco remains another unsolved act of White Terrorism. Many believe Franco's outspoken critique of police cruelty and Racism lead to her murder. Speaking of Race Soldiers, Samuel DuBose's killer, Ohio officer Ray Tensing, received more than $300,000 from the University of Cincinnati. The first week's session described Starr, a scholarly black teen and the main character of the book. Starr and her black friends sneak into a party with drugs, alcohol, drinking and profanity. Readers are informed that Starr has already lost a childhood friend to gun violence. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Dr. Martin Kevorkian. A professor of English at the University of Texas Austin, Dr. Kevorkian wrote Color Monitors: The Blackface of Technology in America. The book investigates White Supremacy in cinema and suggests that non-white people are often symbolically depicted as robots and other non-human entities in White films and narratives. He's visited The C.O.W.S. numerous times over the years to discuss an array of films. This time we'll briefly revisit Netflix's Black Mirror. This sci-fi anthology, which began as a British television series, has become a global critics choice. The fourth season was recently released, and the six episodes reinforce many of the Racist themes we previously discussed with Dr. Kevorkian. We'll pay acute attention to the depiction of black males throughout the series. We'll also discuss Matt Damon's two most recent projects, Downsizing and Suburbicon. The former tackles overpopulation and environmental destruction, by imagining technology that would allow humans to be shrank to mere inches. Suburbicon is a Coen brother film that's eerily similar to their 1997 smash hit Fargo. While a neighborhood of White Terrorists assaults the lone black family to "integrate" their area, Matt Damon and a cadre of gangsters, including his Damon's sister-in-law, Julianne Moore, bungle a conspiracy to kill his wife and defraud the insurance company. The racial strife helps conceal Damon's treachery. The founder of Urban MediaMakers, a group for filmmakers and content producers, Moses garnered sizable attention with her "Come Meet A Black Person" campaign. Nikolaus Cruz, 19, has been arrested and charged with killing 17 people during a school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Unlike Miriam I. Carey, Walter Scott and an infinite number of unarmed Black victims of police terrorism, Cruz was taken into custody unharmed. CNN reports that Cruz used social media to "[hurl] slurs at blacks and Muslims... and had ties to White Supremacists." Multiple tragedies struck during the middle of Black History Month, as historian, author and journalist Lerone Bennett Jr. died this week at the age of 89. The former editor of JET and Ebony magazines, Bennett wrote nearly a dozen books, including: Before the Mayflower: A History of Black America and Forced into Glory: Abraham Lincolnâ??s White Dream. A lifelong activist and former member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Ms. Cress Love is also the sister of the late psychiatrist and author of The Isis Papers, Dr. Frances Cress Welsing. In addition to sharing her recollections and love for her sister, we'll also discuss her brother-in-law Robert Lawrence, who was recently recognized by NASA for his contributions to the United States's space program. Automobile titan Dodge was also admonished for exploiting the legacy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in a Super Bowl advertisement peddling vehicles. The area of entertainment dominated the week with the release of Marvel's Black Panther. Much like the 2017 smash Get Out, the portrayal of black "superheroes" who use their time and energy in pursuit of justice is being promoted globally and critically acclaimed. Speaking of a "superhero," PBS released a superb documentary on South African freedom fighter Winnie Mandela. The film details her philosophy on counter-violence, her decades of service to counter-racism, and the strategic and international efforts Whites made to neutralize and dominate the Mandelas, all black people. Apartheid-style violence was on display in Gus's Seattle, Washington, where a black male was mauled with a baseball bat by White Terrorists. The Race Soldiers were allegedly motivated to violence because the black male was rumored to be sexually involved with a White Woman. An Austin-based physicianâ??s assistant and certified doula, Ms. Turner established the Healing Hands Doula Project to support "healthy pregnancies and births for women of color in Texas." Additionally, she hosts the Mamas on Bedrest & Beyond podcast, which is engineered to "provide new mamas tips and information on topics ranging from prenatal nausea to post partum depression to infant teething." Turner said the staggering levels of maternal mortality rates for black females in Texas prompted her to action. Forensic pathologist Bennet Omalu, famously portrayed by Will Smith in the 2015 film Concussion, accused a White California sheriff, Steve Moore, of mutilating corpses and fabricating autopsy reports in cases where officers were suspected of homicide. A research psychologist at the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford, Dutton's research interests are persuasion and social influence, and the psychopathic personality. He is a White man born in the United Kingdom. Years ago, Dr. Niyana Rasayon suggested that C.O.W.S. listeners examine this text for an accurate understanding of what it means to be classified as White. Last week's session continued the pattern of Dutton praising White predators and killers. He detailed an Aryan prison gang known for unparalleled levels of violence even amongst prisoners. He authored Policing America's Empire and The Politics of Heroin: CIA Complicity in the Global Drug Trade. Published in 1972, the latter documents CIA involvement in the global drug trade. The CIA reportedly tried to suppress publication of the text. We'll discuss his new book, In the Shadows of the American Century: The Rise and Decline of US Global Power. McCoy describes 20th century global politics and the rise of US empire. He now predicts the rise of China and the erosion of United States preeminence. McCoy doesn't specify which people will lose power in this decline, nor does his evaluation address the reported drop in White fertility rates and their percentage of the North American population.
