Another young gunman with an extraordinary arsenal attacked a school and left nearly two dozen murdered children and staff. More than half of the victims look as though they would be classified as not white. Unlike Payton Gendron in Buffalo, the Texas gunman was killed on the scene by police. Gus is "still learning" if Salvador Ramos is classified as a White Man. We did speculate if the widely criticized delay in law enforcement's response to the Uvalde, Texas tragedy was at least partially correlated to the high number of non-white students held hostage and enrolled in the school at large. As opposed to celebrated heroes, enforcement officials in Texas have been vilified for their response. The director of the Texas Department of Public Safety Steven McCraw conceded officers made the "wrong decision" waiting approximately one hour before violently confronting the (racially ambiguous) killer. It's noteworthy that officers rarely take this cautious approach when they engage a black suspect. Many non-white people noted that the Texas massacre distracted attention from the White Supremacist violence in west New York. President Joe Biden and other Whites are conducting their cowardly whining about gun control. With the massacre of nearly two dozen students and teachers in Texas this week, Payton Gendron Jr.'s White Terrorist attack in Buffalo, New York is old news. Although, Gendron allegedly planned to murder as many black people as possible before carrying out an antiblack slaughter with 13 people shot, and ten deaths, we quickly forget black Victims of Racism. Speaking of amnesia, It's been nearly two weeks since the carnage, and Gus has yet to hear any major media outlet utter a syllable about Joseph G. Christopher and Buffalo's history of White Supremacist and antiblack terrorism. During our debut reading of Pelonero's work, Gus and listeners were stupefied to learn that Christopher began his antiblack killings at an east Buffalo Tops grocery store in September of 1980. 14-year-old Glenn Dunn was executed in the supermarket parking lot and left to die. The White Supremacist psychopath would kill two additional black males (Harold Green, Emmanuel Thomas) in the next 24 hours. Multiple witnesses failed to identify the White suspect to enforcement officers. Some of the officers believed this was willful omission to protect a White murder suspect. A scholar of Early American and Atlantic History, Dr. Livesay is an associate professor of history and the history department chair at Claremont McKenna College in California. A C.O.W.S. listener mentioned his book, Children of Uncertain Fortune: Mixed-Race Jamaicans in Britain and the Atlantic Family, 1733-1833. This book examines White attitudes about Racial Classifications and sexual activity between Whites and non-whites in "colonial" Jamaica and Britain. This is our concluding session on this book, and it absolutely qualifies as the saddest book Gus has read. Essie Mae's confusion and father hunger for a child raping White Supremacist is... a sorrow-filled existence. Additionally, the lynchings and gender-specific targeting of black males are such traumatic, constant events in Essie Mae's life, readers can mark time by tracking black male corpses. Last week, Essie Mae described moving out to the "racial paradise" of California. By the time she arrives west, her husband Julius is dead at at the age of 46. He had asthma and self-medicated with alcohol to compensate for the constant White Terrorism he experienced - including being bludgeoned by enforcement officers. Essie Mae returned to southern California a widow and settled in View Park, known as the "black Beverly Hills." Ms. Essie Mae neglected to inform readers that View Park began as a subdivision that excluded anyone not White. A small number of dark people were allowed to purchase housing in the area in the 1960's. Whites quickly exited. By the early 20th century, Whites began returning to "gentrify" the "black Beverly Hills." After Julius's death, Essie Mae decides to tell her children about their real grandpa. They alternate between being bored about their White ancestry and logically describing him as a raping White Supremacist who terrorized their grandmother, Carrie Butler. They got meet him in person, and conclude that he's "not too bad." Julius was denied the chance to share his view of Strom Thurmond with his own children. Many listens and our narrator have remarked about Essie Mae "delusional" talking points on her father and Racism in general. An emeritus professor of history at Millersville University in Pennsylvania, Dr. Downey's been the Director of the University Honors College and has penned a number of books. He studies late 19th and early 20th century US history. We'll discuss his 1991 publication, No Crooked Death: Coatesville, Pennsylvania and the Lynching of Zachariah Walker. Gus was ignorant about this Racist murder until we read Essie Mae Washington-Williams' memoir. She begins her narrative with Walker's lynching and makes it plain that even though his death was more than a decade before she was born, it had a profound impact on her existence. We'll discuss the details of Walker's death and the months of trials that resulted in not one person being convicted. We'll also ask about Dr. Downey's work with Essie Mae's family to publish more material on their experience as J. Strom Thurmond's hidden relatives as well as his research on White Supremacy and disability - which we've discussed previously with Dr. Tommy J. Curry. Non-white listeners should pay special attention to Dr. Downey's extensive use of jargon and meaningless rhetoric. E.g., Him quoting The Doobie Brother's "Takin' It To The Streets." Importantly, Dr. Downey flagrantly lied about the content of his book. Gus questioned him about his failure to include that black residents of Coatesville took up arms to halt the lynching of a black male in 1938. Essie Mae Washington-Williams details this event in her memoir, and her step-father John Henry Washington was one of the black males who was willing to resort to counter-violence. He started drinking. Essie Mae's "second mother" Mary died at a young age leaving her with no family other than "Ol' Strom." She, her husband and children moved back and forth across the country to find work and better quality life in the 1960's. Essie Mae said the Racism in California is "less obvious." Although her husband found job-hunting disappointing and promotions unobtainable here too. She also mentioned the Savannah River Site, a bomb making plant in South Carolina. She neglected to mention this is one of the most toxic regions in the world. And... Whites ejected a large number of black residents to build this facility, refused to promote black employees, and subjected black workers to contaminated areas without proper safety equipment. Harvard University announced plans for a $100 million endowment to compensate for the institutions enslavement of black people. Rachel Scheuerman is the latest Race Soldier to target a hard working black employee. The 71-year-old White Woman exited her vehicle and called the 17-year-old employee a "nigger." After the verbal tirade she struck the black male in the face and snickered.
