We heard countless reports of black male students being afraid of going to school as a result of White Supremacist violence and threats from their White classmates. Brazilian football (soccer) legend Pelé died near the end of 2022 at the age of 82. The only player to win 3 World Cup Championships and voted "Athlete of the 20th Century" according to many White journalists and historians, Pelé is classified as black and was born in 1940, a measly 52 years after Brazil abolished formal enslavement of black people in 1888. Daily gun battles throughout the land. 11 people (perhaps all of them non-white people/ Victims of Racism) were shot to death at a Monterey Park, California dance studio. The alleged gunman, reportedly a non-white male, is reported to have taken his own life. Also in California, 7 people were killed in Half Moon Bay. Again, most of the victims appear to be classified as not White. The shooter was arrested and is also classified as non-white. Most US attention remained focus on Memphis, Tennessee and the police beating and killing of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols. All of the officers who participated in the beating and killing have been terminated from the police department and charged with murder. All of the officers are classified as black males. The Fraternal Order of Police does not "have their back." The Assistant Professor in the School of Education and the Program Lead for the Child and Family Studies degree at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Dr. Durrant’s research agenda includes "interracial" families, parent-child relationships, parenting education, and racial socialization. Born in St. Catherine's, Jamaica, we'll hear about her black parents's struggles with diabetes - which led to her father, Derrick Durrant, dying at the age of 56. #BlackMalePrivilege We'll discuss her fascinating research on White Fathers with non-white offspring and their alleged concerns about how their offspring will be mistreated in the System of White Supremacy. Dr. Durrant said she was motivated to explore this topic after seeing a Yahoo report with a White dad discussing his laments for his non-white son. We'll discuss the confusion around the term "biracial" and the history of White people raping black females and males. Dr. Durrant gave a riveting explanation as to why she thinks people classified as White are more informed about White Supremacy/Racism. Racism is explicitly listed in the report as a major contributor to obesity and unhealthy eating. In addition to poor diet, non-white people are also disqualified for mental health. In California, Keenan Anderson was tasered and killed by enforcement officials. Mr. Anderson was a black male educator and reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis when his life was terminated. Some of us in the US got a reprieve to begin the week with recognition for Dr. Martin Luther King’s holiday. Alternatively, the day provided an opportunity for Racist Pranks and White grumbling about unnecessary holidays for dark people. Houston’s FOX 26 reported that a black female California Hotel employee, Ronnie Tams, and another non-white worker were terrorized by a White Man who may have been a marine. Tams immediately summoned her black self respect and utilized counter violence to neutralize the Suspected Race Soldier. These type of violent workplace encounters seem increasingly common. It’s imperative that non-white people remain alert to possibly violent people in your work environment. In October of 2022, The New England Journal of Medicine released a report showing that black and "hispanic" people are less likely to receive CPR from bystanders in any environment. This was reported prior to Damar Hamlin, 24-year-old black male who nearly died on the tackle football field before being resuscitated by highly decorated medical staff. The night of the tragic injury, Gus tweeted that if Hamlin experienced cardiac arrest away from the stadium, he would be substantially less likely to get help. Dr. Chan co-authored the report that confirms Gus's social media outburst. We'll discuss potential strategies to combat this problem - including: teaching non-white children CPR in school or even during the upcoming Super Bowl with Hamlin leading the instructions. Dr. Uzendu makes this information painfully relevant by relating his own near-death experience when he suffered cardiac arrest during a basketball contest at the age of 25-years-old. In South America, supporters of Jair Bolsonaro rioted and terrorized government buildings to demonstrate their rejection of the electoral process. With a doctorate in anatomy and neurobiology from the Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Stamm conducted research at the Boston University Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center and the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She's also a White Woman who was raised in rural Wisconsin in an area that may be a Racially Restricted Region (Sundown Town). She confessed to hearing Racist Jokes - even from her White family members - and sometimes chuckling. Much of the US kicked off the so-called new year with Monday Night Football's gridiron clash between the hosting Cincinnati Bengals and the visiting Buffalo Bills. 24-year-old Damar Hamlin was nearly killed on the field after a collision with the Bengals's Tee Higgins. Millions watched Hamlin receive nearly 10 minutes of CPR to get him "restarted." We'll use this tragedy to investigate the dangers of tackle football, especially for young children, in Dr. Stamm's 2021 publication, The Brain on Youth Sports: The Science, the Myths, and the Future. The text is intended for parents and youth coaches to better understand the risks of collision sports to the still-developing child brain. Since we're marking anniversaries, Rosewood, Florida is recognizing 100 years since the White Terrorist purge of black residents. A number of ceremonies are announcing the centennial. During the weekly installment of NFL brain damage, a 24-year-old black male, Daran Hamlin, nearly died on the field after suffering a viscous collision with a black male player on the opposing team. Hamlin needed approximately 10 minutes of CPR and was resuscitated twice before being transported to a local trauma unit. He's now breathing on his own and expected recover. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Emily Flitter. A White Woman (Racist Suspect), New York Times journalist, Flitter covers banking and Wall Street in her highly acclaimed, well followed column. She began receiving individual reports about black people alleging mistreatment from White banking employees. Flitter launched an investigation into how the System of White Supremacy works in the area of economics. Her book, The White Wall: How Big Finance Bankrupts Black America, investigates the many ways that Whites financially rape and ruin black people. One of the key aspects of the book is how Whites deliberately withhold information from non-white people. Flitter presents this repeatedly and in a variety of different circumstances. White insurance appraisers have extraordinary discretion about which claims they pay, the criterion they use for determining payouts, and what information they divulge to the public. This often applies when black employees allege they are being mistreated by a financial institution. Private settlements frequently include non-disclosure agreements. In fact, Flitter documents how a number of companies begin destroying evidence before they initiate punitive action against black workers. Flitter, like most Whites, was very resistant to logically conclude and publicly acknowledge that she and other White people are more informed about White Supremacy/Racism. At least one listener thinks Santos may be classified as non-white. Jeffrey Epstein allegedly lied so that he could teach children at New York's Dalton school. Joe Gerace, former director of the Anchorage Health Department, resigned this summer after investigations revealed he lied about large portions of his résumé. A native of Louisiana, Lanata works for the Louisiana Main Street program, which allegedly changes the way people think and conduct business in downtown and commercial areas. An investor wanted Gus to speak with Ms. Lanata, a White Woman, about the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi. Since this summer, the majority-black town has received global attention for recurring water failures which left black citizens in life-threatening danger. With this week's bomb cyclone and historically low temperatures across the northwestern hemisphere, pipes reportedly froze and burst in Jackson. We'll discuss this with Ms. Lanata, but we'll also make time to discuss her contribution to the Two Mississippi Museums project. Lanata was hired to help curate The Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. These institutes primarily tell the history of the state System of White Supremacy/Racism and the response from Victims like Fannie Lou Hamer and Medgar Evers. An Associate Professor of History at Western Washington University, Dr. Hardesty is a scholar of colonial America, the Atlantic world, and the histories of labor and slavery. He's written three books about Racism/White Supremacy in the US, and we'll discuss his 2021 offering, Mutiny on the Rising Sun: A Tragic Tale of Smuggling, Slavery, and Chocolate. Gus heard about this book from WGBH Boston Public Radio. They reported on Old North Church and how the three centuries old house of worship was complicit in slavery. Specifically, White church members sat in the pews of Old North Church to network with other slave smugglers/owners. Dr. Hardesty's book examines an 18th century mutiny in the Caribbean, where White pirate slave smugglers were killed by some of their non-white crew members. 15 slaves - mostly black children - had to witness the carnage. Listeners are encouraged to remember Neely Fuller Jr. and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing's commentary about the symbolism and significance of chocolate in the System of White Supremacy. Chair and Associate Professor of Academic Literacies at Anne Arundel Community College, Dr. Tomlin oversees a program that prepares students for success by teaching them how to critically evaluate academic texts and write at the college level. We'll review his 2021 dissertation, When They See Us: Narratives of Black Male Teachers, which examines the deliberate dearth of black male educators. Gus T. was reminded of previous reports detailing the number of black male teachers who were lynched for trying to teach black children. Just last week, the BBC featured a report noting the exact same problem - no black male teachers across the pond either. The word "Racism" appears in the report exactly one time. Former President Donald J. Trump is referred for criminal prosecution and is blamed for much of the tumult. It's doubtful he - or too many other Whites will be seriously punished. Speaking of punitive action, former Texas enforcement official Aaron Dean was sentenced to 11 years, 10 months in prison for the 2019 killing of 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson. Across the pond in France, a 69-year-old gunman reportedly opened fired at a Kurdish cultural center in Paris. Three non-white people were killed. The BBC reports that the shooter "described himself as racist, has been transferred to a psychiatric facility." It's suspected that this may have been a deliberate White Supremacist attack. While the globe preps for the arrival of a tubby fat man with gifts (and maybe guns), much of the northwestern hemisphere is blanketed in snow, ice, and historically frigid temperatures. A 97-year-old Nazi White Woman, Irmgard Furchner, was convicted and sentenced for her roll in death of a reported 65 thousand people at the Stutthof death camps. This is in stark contrast to the "father hunger" we've heard about throughout this memoir. We also heard about an extraordinary episode where Abdul-Rauf attended a White Louisiana church, and a Suspected Racist child spoke in tongues while placing hands on the college hoops star. This and other questions led to his conversion to Islam. Apparently, Coach Dale Brown (Racist Suspect) gave his top black player a copy of Minister Malcolm X's autobiography, and this radically changed how Abdul-Rauf thought about, behaved around, and spoke to individuals classified as White. Her 8-year-old nephew witnessed the killing and testified at the trial. Many non-white Texans believed Dean should have convicted of murder - which would have warranted a longer sentence. Next door in Louisiana, 5 officers were charged for the police killing of Ronald Greene. This black male was pummeled, choked and dragged by his shackles before before his death the same year as Ms. Jefferson. Many across the country were shocked by the news that Ellen DeGeneres's black male college, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, reportedly took his own life. A "married" attempted father of three children, no one had clues that Boss was dealing with mental health problems. This Victim of Racism was heavily involved with the allegations that DeGeneres's allowed a toxic and racist work environment where employees were mistreated. In fact, their non-white colleague was so unprofessional during their final shift together, she feared that he may have tampered with company property. She questioned if she should inform management (Whites) about what happened. This is a pitiful illustration of why Gus recommends that non-white people always make their best effort to resign from a job in a professional manner. A Pulitzer Prize-winning author and a professor of history and Rothman Family Chair in the Humanities, specializing in environmental history and sustainability studies at the University of Florida, Mr. Davis has written a number a highly successful non-fiction books on the environment, the Gulf of Mexico and US history. Gus discovered his work while researching Florida's immense history of lynching black males. In 1989, Dr. Davis wrote, Whitewash in Florida The Lynching of Jesse James Payne and Its Aftermath. He details how "95%" of polled Florida Whites were "Kool & The Gang" with the 1945 lynching of Mr. Payne #WorthlessNegroFromFlorida In fact, many Whites in Florida were more angered about the prospect of the Payne lynching drawing unwanted attention to the southern style of practicing White Supremacy/Racism. Abdul-Rauf's black mother did not graduate high school and was likely illiterate. We heard about black people name-calling other black people and more details about attempted black parents having random sex partners (boyfriends) around their young offspring. Abdul-Rauf's mother beat him when he was young and shouted at him for being fidgety. After we spent the whole summer hand-ringing about the poisoned and insufficient water in Jackson, Mississippi, Houston, Texas received a boil water notice this week. In Missouri, Kevin Johnson was executed as a convicted "cop killer" even after evidence demonstrated White Supremacy/Racism during his court proceedings. In San Francisco, California, enforcement officials ponder if employing robots with lethal force will improve Bay Area policing. Bing is alleged to have written a "death note" accusing his co-workers of mocking him and calling him cannibal serial killer "Jeffrey Dahmer." Speaking of White traditions, while Jerry Jones's Dallas Cowboys hosted a home tackle football game on Thanksgiving Day for the 56th time since 1966, a Washington Post report showcased a 1957 photograph of a teenage Jones amongst a gang of White Supremacists who are verbally abusing a small group of black students attempting to "integrate" an Arkansas high school. Russell is an amazing representation of attempted counter-racism, and his book is chock full of basketball history. He spends a substantial amount of time discussing Abe Saperstein and the Harlem Globetrotters. Russell rejected a job offer to suit up for the "clown princes of basketball" and indicted the White owner of the ball club as a Racist/White Supremacist. In fact, Russell mentions Saperstein by name when he enumerates his reasons for rejecting the basketball Hall of Fame. Gus T. was ignorant about all of this. #StillLearning Low and behold, Mr. Green penned a whole book detailing the history of Mr. Saperstein and his Racist management of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. This book covers most of the 20th century, the "great migration" of black residents from the southern US to other regions, and the history and evolution of basketball under the domination of Racist man. We are mandated to discuss why their theme song is "Sweet Georgia Brown" - which is an ode to a black whore.
