The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the debut 9th study session on Mário Filho's 1947 The Black Man in Brazilian Soccer, translated to English by Jack A. Draper III. Brazilian football (soccer) legend Pelé died near the end of 2022 at the age of 82. His transition along with the disgraceful hooliganism displayed when former President Jair Bolsonaro lost the presidency to Lula da Silva, motivated us to read this book. Since most non-white people have not traveled to South America or studied Brazil, this seems like a great time to do some south-of-the-equator learning. Our last study session saw the continued trend of Filho obsessing about the "kinky" hair of non-white players. Throughout the book, Filho pinpoints how non-white players hide, mutilate, and subdue their unruly Negro coils. This is between him telling readers that Racism is on the wane in Brazil because White fans only care about winning. We continue to hear the contrast between well-fed White players who don't need the payoffs of soccer because they're well educated with a full belly and roof over their head. Holman was allegedly angry about losing his job. The salacious affair will probably yield dozens of Netflix projects and Broadway musicals. Live from Buffalo, New York, The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. Even while researching the history of White Terrorism against black residents of west New York, abuse of black people at work remains a primary problem. Gus listened to Lee Pettigrew at the Frank Merriweather Library (which is one block from the east side TOPS). He was supposed to be discussing the history of WUFO - a black owned radio station. Somehow the conversation veered to black Buffalo Police officers' recent allegations of Racism from their White officers. There were similar accusations against fire departments and enforcement agencies across the US this week. In fact, just before this program aired live, Gus returned to Merriweather Library to hear Sheriff John Garcia discuss "diversity" in the Buffalo Sheriff's Office. In truth, the exchange was almost exclusively about the lack of black and non-white Sheriffs in Erie County. Sheriff Garcia maintained few black people take the exam to qualify for being a sheriff. Importantly, some in attendance pointed out the testing sights are not always located near potential applicants. There were also strong suspicions that White people do not make a sincere effort to recruit black workers. Mayor Lucas challenged the tradition of hiring from the same local batch of White males for every job opening and then wondering why the Racist, unprofessional culture never changes. Gus T. Renegade gives his first report live from Buffalo, New York. "The Worthless Negro from Virginia" trekked across the continent to be in attendance for the sentencing of Payton S. Gendron who plead guilty to Racist domestic terrorism and the killing of 10 black people at an east side Top's Buffalo grocery store in May of 2022. The sentencing was a highly emotional, even traumatizing experience. Gendron killed 10 innocent black people - which is a disgustingly highly number of fatalities. But he also wounded others who survived. There were so many Victim's relatives in the court room, it was staggering to comprehend the personal impact of this terrorist attack. While some of the black victims did recite biblical verses and announced forgiveness for Gendron, many black people voiced unmitigated hatred for Gendron (and his absent White parents). In fact, several members attempted to beat down the 19-year-old convicted White Terrorist. The thick presence of armed sheriffs immediately ended the conflict, and Gendron was swiftly whisked to safety until the sentencing could resume. The teenage Race Soldier received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. He has a pending federal trial where he could face the death penalty. Admitted Racist Dr. G. Sue Kasun visits The Context of White Supremacy #TheCOWS14Years A tenured professor at a public Georgia institute, Dr. Kasun admitted to being a Racist during the live program. She's written dozens of reports and dumped 'buckets of words' obfuscating her own commitment to Racism. She told us about her trips to Mexico - she's bilingual - and her non-white "friends." Gus found out about Dr. Kasun from her report: 'Chicana Feminism as a Bridge: The Struggle of a White Woman Seeking an Alternative to the Eclipsing Embodiment of Whiteness.' An assistant professor at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa #RollTide, Dr. Wallace is a Harvard trained epidemiologist with a doctorate in kinesiology from Michigan State University. We learned about her work a few weeks ago when Dr. Julie M. Stamm visited our program to discuss tackle football and brain damage. Specifically, Dr. Stamm cited Dr. Wallace's fascinating research that investigates "racial disparities" in knowledge about concussions. Specifically, her work suggests that White coaches, parents and scholar-athletes are more informed about concussions than their black counterparts at all levels. Frighteningly, black parents in Dr. Wallace's study demonstrated a high level of overconfidence about their understanding of brain injuries [Gus has seen this many times over the years]. We'll discuss this week's report from Boston University which once again showed that it's nigh impossible to play tackle football without damaging your brain computer. Images suggest many of these people could be classified as non-white. Ohio endured a man-made disaster when a train derailed this week forcing thousands to evacuate. White authorities feared a chemical contamination and ultimately incinerated toxic substances, sending dangerous gases into the atmosphere. We have been told the air, water, soil and environment are now SAFE and the evacuation order has been rescinded. PBS news reports, "Testing on rivers, streams and drinking water wells will continue throughout the area and in the nearby Ohio River." We'll also hear about a plot to "lay waste" to Baltimore, Maryland. A White duo, Sarah Beth Clendaniel and Brandon Clint Russell, were allegedly "Driven by their ideology of racially-motivated hatred, the defendants allegedly schemed to attack local power grid facilities" in Baltimore - a predominantly black populated city. And we recognize the passing of Lorne Cress Love who reportedly just transitioned. Houston’s FOX 26 reported that a black female California Hotel employee, Ronnie Tams, and another non-white worker were terrorized by a White Man who may have been a marine. In October of 2022, The New England Journal of Medicine released a report showing that black and "hispanic" people are less likely to receive CPR from bystanders in any environment. This was reported prior to Damar Hamlin, 24-year-old black male who nearly died on the tackle football field before being resuscitated by highly decorated medical staff. The night of the tragic injury, Gus tweeted that if Hamlin experienced cardiac arrest away from the stadium, he would be substantially less likely to get help. With a doctorate in anatomy and neurobiology from the Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Stamm conducted research at the Boston University Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center and the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She's also a White Woman who was raised in rural Wisconsin in an area that may be a Racially Restricted Region (Sundown Town). She confessed to hearing Racist Jokes - even from her White family members - and sometimes chuckling. Much of the US kicked off the so-called new year with Monday Night Football's gridiron clash between the hosting Cincinnati Bengals and the visiting Buffalo Bills. 24-year-old Damar Hamlin was nearly killed on the field after a collision with the Bengals's Tee Higgins. Millions watched Hamlin receive nearly 10 minutes of CPR to get him "restarted." We'll use this tragedy to investigate the dangers of tackle football, especially for young children, in Dr. Stamm's 2021 publication, The Brain on Youth Sports: The Science, the Myths, and the Future. The text is intended for parents and youth coaches to better understand the risks of collision sports to the still-developing child brain. Abdul-Rauf, formerly known as Chris Jackson, is a retired NBA player who became infamous for not participating in the national anthem during the 1996 season. Abdul-Rauf was quickly ejected from the league and all but forgotten. In fact, White journalists found as many of Abdul-Rauf's black co-workers as possible to have them criticize how he responded to White Supremacy/Racism. Gus hopes that by studying Abdul-Rauf's tribulations, non-white people will better understand the importance of resisting the urge to criticize other Victims of Racism. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Emily Flitter. A White Woman (Racist Suspect), New York Times journalist, Flitter covers banking and Wall Street in her highly acclaimed, well followed column. She began receiving individual reports about black people alleging mistreatment from White banking employees. Flitter launched an investigation into how the System of White Supremacy works in the area of economics. Her book, The White Wall: How Big Finance Bankrupts Black America, investigates the many ways that Whites financially rape and ruin black people. One of the key aspects of the book is how Whites deliberately withhold information from non-white people. Flitter presents this repeatedly and in a variety of different circumstances. White insurance appraisers have extraordinary discretion about which claims they pay, the criterion they use for determining payouts, and what information they divulge to the public. This often applies when black employees allege they are being mistreated by a financial institution. Private settlements frequently include non-disclosure agreements. In fact, Flitter documents how a number of companies begin destroying evidence before they initiate punitive action against black workers. Flitter, like most Whites, was very resistant to logically conclude and publicly acknowledge that she and other White people are more informed about White Supremacy/Racism. Congressman-elect George Santos (NY, Republican) faces charges that he lied about a number of accomplishments on his résumé. Although this garnered an extraordinary amount of attention this week, people classified as White lying about their work history and academic record is a widespread cultural practice. At least one listener thinks Santos may be classified as non-white. Jeffrey Epstein allegedly lied so that he could teach children at New York's Dalton school. Joe Gerace, former director of the Anchorage Health Department, resigned this summer after investigations revealed he lied about large portions of his résumé. A native of Louisiana, Lanata works for the Louisiana Main Street program, which allegedly changes the way people think and conduct business in downtown and commercial areas. An investor wanted Gus to speak with Ms. Lanata, a White Woman, about the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi. Since this summer, the majority-black town has received global attention for recurring water failures which left black citizens in life-threatening danger. With this week's bomb cyclone and historically low temperatures across the northwestern hemisphere, pipes reportedly froze and burst in Jackson. We'll discuss this with Ms. Lanata, but we'll also make time to discuss her contribution to the Two Mississippi Museums project. Lanata was hired to help curate The Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. These institutes primarily tell the history of the state System of White Supremacy/Racism and the response from Victims like Fannie Lou Hamer and Medgar Evers. Just this summer, Gus T. read a critique of these Mississippi institutions in Suspected Racist Davis W. Houck's Black Bodies in the River. An Associate Professor of History at Western Washington University, Dr. Hardesty is a scholar of colonial America, the Atlantic world, and the histories of labor and slavery. He's written three books about Racism/White Supremacy in the US, and we'll discuss his 2021 offering, Mutiny on the Rising Sun: A Tragic Tale of Smuggling, Slavery, and Chocolate. Gus heard about this book from WGBH Boston Public Radio. They reported on Old North Church and how the three centuries old house of worship was complicit in slavery. Specifically, White church members sat in the pews of Old North Church to network with other slave smugglers/owners. Dr. Hardesty's book examines an 18th century mutiny in the Caribbean, where White pirate slave smugglers were killed by some of their non-white crew members. 15 slaves - mostly black children - had to witness the carnage. Listeners are encouraged to remember Neely Fuller Jr. and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing's commentary about the symbolism and significance of chocolate in the System of White Supremacy. In fact, Dr. Hardesty confessed to being unaware that American icon Jeffrey Dahmer was employed in a chocolate factory. Chair and Associate Professor of Academic Literacies at Anne Arundel Community College, Dr. Tomlin oversees a program that prepares students for success by teaching them how to critically evaluate academic texts and write at the college level. We'll review his 2021 dissertation, When They See Us: Narratives of Black Male Teachers, which examines the deliberate dearth of black male educators. Gus T. was reminded of previous reports detailing the number of black male teachers who were lynched for trying to teach black children. Just last week, the BBC featured a report noting the exact same problem - no black male teachers across the pond either. During our robust dialog with Dr. Tomlin, we highlighted the importance of Dr. Tommy J. The word "Racism" appears in the report exactly one time. Former President Donald J. Trump is referred for criminal prosecution and is blamed for much of the tumult. It's doubtful he - or too many other Whites will be seriously punished. Speaking of punitive action, former Texas enforcement official Aaron Dean was sentenced to 11 years, 10 months in prison for the 2019 killing of 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson. Across the pond in France, a 69-year-old gunman reportedly opened fired at a Kurdish cultural center in Paris. Three non-white people were killed. The BBC reports that the shooter "described himself as racist, has been transferred to a psychiatric facility." It's suspected that this may have been a deliberate White Supremacist attack. While the globe preps for the arrival of a tubby fat man with gifts (and maybe guns), much of the northwestern hemisphere is blanketed in snow, ice, and historically frigid temperatures. A 97-year-old Nazi White Woman, Irmgard Furchner, was convicted and sentenced for her roll in death of a reported 65 thousand people at the Stutthof death camps.
