On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 13 people and injured 24 more at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. This week, we continue our exploration of Cullen's narrative of the events leading up to the massacre, the motivations of the White killers, and the aftermath of the slaughter. The teen duo apparently had contact with enforcement officers well in advance of the shooting. Last week, we learned more about the tandems' arrest for stealing from vehicle in advance of the massacre. The boys were suspended from school hacking to school computers to break into students lockers. Wayne Harris found one of his son's pipe bombs, and was allegedly stymied about how to dispose of the device. Dylan Klebold's journal has strong homoerotic tones when taking about intense bond to Zack. In fact, Dylan dreams about killing Zack's White girlfriend for breaking up their "threesome." Lorincz stood in her residence with the door close and shot Owens who standing outside with her children. The search was never executed. Brooks' mother, Judy, told the New York Times she'd reported Eric to the police 15 times. Cullen also details how Eric's father, Wayne, felt he and his wife were victims of Judy Brown's grousing about their mischievous child. Tellingly, Mr. Harris wrote down that Eric had learned his lesson about haranguing the Browns. The Context of White Supremacy (C.O.W.S.) Radio Program welcomes Dr. Jennifer L. Pierce. A faculty member in the University of Minnesota’s Department of American Studies, Dr. Pierce’s “research follows two related trajectories: one in the area of racial and gender inequality in American workplaces and several collaborative projects developing different aspects of my methodological expertise.” Months before the current court case adjudicating "affirmative action," Gus T. found Dr. Pierce’s 2012 book, Racing for Innocence: Whiteness, Gender, and the Backlash Against Affirmative Action. Although there is a substantial amount of conflation in the book - suggesting White Women are also victims of “discrimination,” there are a number of important sections. Dr. Pierce details how discussions of "affirmative action" have been "deliberately" misrepresented. Tellingly, she highlights that most of the complaints about "affirmative action" exclude White and non-white females. In fact, some times she writes explicitly that "unqualified" black males are the specific target of White fury. The book also details how White male lawyers grouse about not being able to swap Racist Jokes in the law office. Gus kicks off this interview with Dr. Pierce's egregious (and, perhaps, Racist) omission of former LAPD officer Mark Fuhrman. Just this week, the EEOC released a scathing report indicting White construction companies across the U.S. They cited widespread White Supremacy, including but not limited to: "More than four dozen nooses had been reported at 40 worksites since 2015, and the EEOC received at least 64 charges involving nooses in the construction industry between fiscal years 2015 and 2022." The EEOC also said "[Racism] in construction is a workplace safety issue." Something Gus has been saying for years. Eric "Rebel" Harris and Dylan "VODKA" Klebold used firearms and bombs to slaughter their classmates before taking their own lives. This massacre inspired school shootings around the world, changed law enforcement's rules of engagement, and remains one of the most significant events of the last 30 years. Harris and Klebold were allegedly fascinated with Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. They carried out the attack on Hitler's birthday and a mere 4 years after Timothy McVeigh's bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building - which was on April 19th, 1995. The White teen duo apparently had contact with enforcement officers well in advance of the shooting. Last week, we learned more details about the police response to the carnage. Local officials lied about going inside the school within a half hour of the first call. Actually, it took closer to an hour for police enter the school. The Klebolds describe the funeral service for Dylan. Out of fear that his grave site would be vandalized, they had his remains cremated. Apparently, the Harris family employed a No Snitch policy about their "homegoing" services for Eric. We also heard graphic details about teacher David Sanders last moments before perishing. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Angelyn Spaulding Flowers. A professor and coordinator of the Crime, Justice, and Security Studies Program at the University of the District of Columbia, Dr. Flowers is classified as a black female. She's one of the few black researchers who's written about the US scourge of mass school shootings. We'll discuss her 2021 publication, 20 Years of School Based Mass Shootings in the United States, Columbine to Santa Fe. The book uses Columbine as a "launch point" for examining the evolution, scope, and characteristics of mass school shootings. The research details what qualifies as a "mass school shooting" and evidence based patterns of these massacres. One of the main points is that Columbine-style school shootings are almost exclusively carried out by White males. Our normal Racist patterns of thinking - associating black males with crime, will fail us in solving this problem. Another important point, is that the killing of school children is more likely to happen when White gunmen have assault weapons. This is a legacy of the 1999 Columbine slaughter, subsequent school shooters are far more likely to use heavier, more deadly artillery when hunting students. While Governor Gavin Newsom and others grapple with reparations for the Golden State, black medical doctors in SoCal report abuse, disrespect and Racism. Non-white doctors at Sutter Health report their employers used "false allegations and intimidation tactics to target their own doctors - especially Black and other minority doctors to 'keep them in line.'" Non-white workers being falsely accused is a widespread workplace activity. It is imperative to maintain your composure, ask questions, and document the specific nature of the charges and the subsequent investigation. We also discuss current efforts to amend child labor laws so that 16-year-olds can serve alcohol and 14-year-olds can work longer and later hours. We also get more details about how Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris's White parents and classmates cooperated with or withheld information from enforcement officials. Draper III An associate professor of Portuguese at the University of Missouri, Professor Draper was born in the Philippines but grew up in sunny California. He developed an interest in Brazilian poetry and popular music before teaching about the country's history. We'll discuss his English translation of Mário Filho's The Black Man in Brazilian Soccer, originally published in 1947. We just read this text in the Katherine Massey Book Club. Gus thought based on it's contents, this book's correct title is: Moleque's with Kinky Hair in Brazilian Soccer. Professor Draper detailed the racist meaning of this term and his logic for translating this to "street urchin." We also discuss the homoerotic elements of the book - which include many passages of the White author describing muscular, sweaty black thighs and "kinky" negro hair. Professor Draper also deconstructed the term "crespo" - which is translated to "kinky" in the book. Gus thinks this term may also be similar to the way "nappy" is used in the states. The Washington Post published a reported titled: Discrimination on the Job Linked to Higher Risk for Hypertension. "Examples of discrimination included feeling more closely watched than other workers, or feeling ignored or not taken seriously by a boss. Some in the study cited workers’ or supervisors’ use of ethnic, racial or sexual slurs or jokes, and some said job promotions were not given fairly." This is precisely why Gus T. hosts a weekly segment devoted to neutralizing workplace racism. Being abused has emotional, biological and spiritual consequences for the victim. Being better prepared for Racism in the workplace can help one minimize problems, stress and anxiety from abuse on the job. We also discuss the near fatal abuse of Brandon Woodruff. A recently hired black maintenance worker in Michigan, Woodruff was ordered to pretend to be a hostile intruder in the children's trauma ward. Children and faculty assumed the black dude was there to kill and rape them. Armed enforcement officials arrived and made Woodruff prostrate himself face down on the ground. Guns were drawn. If Woodruff, the children and faculty were not traumatized before, they are now. Specifically, they submitted that the text sounded like an action movie that praises the intelligence and upstart personality of these White teen terrorists. We also made note of the extraordinary resources available to the students of Columbine High School: Psychology classes, patio area for White teen smokers (presumably illegal), unarmed security officers on site, off campus lunch for students with cars. Cullen gives a second-by-second account of how the attack unfolds. Surprisingly, many victims reported hearing the gun fire, but incorrectly thinking the noise must be a prank, student movie, or other non-violent school project. Some even ran towards the White gunman because they wanted to be apart of "the fun" or to admonish the duo for their excessive noise. Orenthal James Simpson is mentioned in this week's reading. Addendum: During the program, there was confusion about whether the black parents of Isaiah Shoels were being comforted by White people or if these non-white people were reassuring White parents. A PhD student in the Department of Earth Sciences, Program for Air, Water and Landscape Sciences at Uppsala University, Savelli "is an experienced practitioner in the international development sector and her main area of expertise concerns water services provision. She has been involved in researches on pro-poor water services and policy implementation in East Africa and she coordinated WASH interventions in West Africa and Middle East. Presently, she studies the politics that intersect with the production and distribution of drought risk by combining sociohydrology with political ecologies of land and water." Savelli's research suggests White people around the world are hoarding access to water, while dark people could be thirsty as the planet gets hotter. Reports indicate the gunman, Mauricio Garcia, posted online about his pending rampage weeks in advance and detailed his White Supremacist leanings and explicit dislike of black people. Many details have not been released about this slaughter. However, many of the Victims who've had photographs displayed in the media would be classified as non-white. We'll discuss the racial classification of the suspected gunman. We'll also review the manslaughter charges filed against Daniel Penny, a White Marine who choked Jordan Neely to death on a NYC subway. We'll discuss his newly published book, Fire on the Levee: The Murder of Henry Glover and the Search for Justice after Hurricane Katrina. Glover, a black male NOLA native, was shot in the back by a White police officer (David Warren). Other officials then burned a vehicle with Glover's body in the rear. A Professor of History at Grand Valley State University, Dr Moore's research and writing examines the interconnections between race and sports. He is the author of two recently published books, I Fight for a Living: Boxing and the Battle for Black Manhood, 1880-1915 and We Will Win the Day: The Civil Rights Movement, the Black Athlete, and the Quest for Equality. Gus learned a bit more about former black prizefighter Sam Langford. A contemporary of black heavyweight champion Jack Johnson, Gus found out Langford was nicknamed: "The Boston Tar Baby," Smoke," and "The Original Nigger In The Wood Pile." This prompted Gus to dig more. The timing of this broadcast can not be overstated. We just spoke with Suspected Racist Dr. Katherine C. Mooney about her research on White Supremacy and horse racing. Jones Associate Professor of History at Florida State University, Dr. Mooney examines "the cultural history of inequality in the United States--how it is imagined and made into political and legal discourse, how it plays out in people's daily lives. She primarily works on the history of slavery and its legacies." We'll examine her 2014 publication, Race Horse Men: How Slavery & Freedom Were Made at the Racetrack. This programs picks up right where we left off this past Monday with Dr. Emily Bingham and her book, My Old Kentucky Home. Dr. Mooney's work also explores White Supremacy/Racism. However, she explores the history of black horse trainers and jockeys from the plantation days to their complete obliteration. We'll discuss the value and sometimes extensive "privileges" awarded to black slaves with equine expertise. These young boys were often starved and sometimes celebrated across the land for the riding skills. However, after the Civil War, Whites promptly went about the business of obliterating all black employment in the horse racing industry. She also classifies herself as a "privileged White Woman." During our current book study of Brazil, Gus was struck by references to the KKK, lynching, and the 19th century minstrel song "My Old Kentucky Home." The global appeal of this White Supremacist hymn led Gus to Dr. Bingham's 2022 publication, My Old Kentucky Home: The Astonishing Life and Reckoning of an Iconic American Song. The book details how Stephen Foster's minstrel jam spawned a tax-payer-funded public monument, became the Kentucky State anthem, and theme song of Churchill Down's Kentucky Derby. Even after Breonna Taylor was gunned down in her own Kentucky Home in March of 2020, Whites remained dedicated to their sacrosanct tune about gay darkies being sold down the river. We'll ask Dr. Bingham about her use of the terms: "spadework," "militant," and "progressive." The term "White Supremacy" is in her book 20 times. Further south in Alabama, four black teens were fatally shot at a "Sweet Sixteen" "birthday" celebration. Dozens more were injured in the attack allegedly carried out by six black males between the ages of 20 and 15, who've since been arrested and charged for the carnage. We'll also hear remarks recognizing 28 years since Race Soldier Timothy McVeigh bombed the Oklahoma City federal building - killing more than 160 people. Additionally, Brazil continues to endure countless school attacks. There were two different school assaults at the beginning of last week, which marked the 11th school massacre in the past 8 months. It's reported that only the US has similar rates of violent school massacres. Last week, Filho told us about the 1950 championship battle between Uruguay and Brazil. Nearly a quarter million people crammed the stands to watch the favored Brazilians take a loss. Just like current times, black players were blamed for the defeat. Careca, a black player, was branded the greatest "dirtbag" to kick a ball. And we got even more talk about negroes with big thighs and "loud," "bad hair." Bryant Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, with a joint appointment in The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, Dr. Massey is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society. He's the current president of the American Academy of Political and Social Science and is a member of the Council of the National Academy of Sciences and co-editor of the Annual Review of Sociology. Dr Massey’s research focuses on international migration, race and housing, discrimination, education, urban poverty, and stratification. Gus read about Dr. Massey work in a New York Times op-ed on White Supremacy in education. The reported cited Dr. Massey's 2017 "commentary," Why Death Haunts Black Lives. We'll address a number of Dr. Massey's great work on education, economics and law. In fact, one of his reports details how White banksters codified and exploited black stupidity to loot billions from home buyers. Even with detailed information about this process, Dr. Massey still insisted that non-white people are more informed about what Racism is and how it works. Since most non-white people have not traveled to South America or studied Brazil, this seems like a great time to do some south-of-the-equator learning. After months of loitering in Florida following his 2022 election defeat, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro reportedly returned to home at the end of last week. Joyous crowds greeted him with boisterous cheers. Some Bolsonaro supporters donned the jersey of the national soccer team. Last week's chapter (The Trial of the Black Man), further demonstrates the low plight of black people in South America. Filho describes how World War II impacted Brazil, which became one of the havens for fleeing Nazis after the war. Filho details one scene where soccer becomes a metaphor for War. Fanatics would show up for games with thousands of cherry bombs to be ignited for their teams entrance. Smoke would blacken the sky as if there were attending a freshly bombarded battle-field - as opposed to a ball game. Filho continues to emphasize the importance of hair texture and how many non-white people did as much as possible to be accepted as White. Since he did not confirm with Gus for the program, there were many reasons to think he was not going to honor his agreement to speak with us. Dr. Utsey apologized for his tardiness and explained he was dealing with an emergency. Thankfully, we were able to discuss his film company, Burn Baby Burn, and his project on the history of Nat Turner. His documentary film, Until the Well Runs Dry: Medicine and the Exploitation of Black Bodies, details how black corpses were harvested for use by the Virginia medical college. White medical school students honed their anatomical knowledge and medical skills on stolen black carcasses. Chris Baker, a black male Victim of White Supremacy, was held hostage and forced to "acquire" the black bodies. We also discussed Dr. Utsey's Toward a Black Psychology: Origin & Evolution of a Discipline. This project features cameos from Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, Dr. Robert L. Thompson. She's repeatedly failed a required certification for North Carolina public school educators and has consequently been relegated to "substitute teacher" pay and status - which is about an $18,000 subtraction in annual pay. Our "Female Caller in Georgia" commented that any competent academic program should successfully train their students to pass any certifications required to advance in their respective field. Gus investigated further, and reports indicate Ms. Thompson attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Institute of Charlotte. Both of these schools are now defunct. The company that owned the Art Institute franchise, Dream Center Education Holdings, is now bankrupt and accused of scamming thousands of gullible college students - like Ms. Thompson. Gus suspects large numbers of non-white people have wasted countless hours and a ransom of dollars on bogus White-operated "schools" like this. We also discuss the LA United School District's 3 day worker strike that left 100,000's of students sitting listless for half the week. Thousands of non-white cafeteria workers, educators, custodial and support staff report they spend more time per week with the children than the students's own parents. Filho casually mentions that fans threatened to "lynch" star player Leônidas Da Silva for being an insolent, shameless, dirty negro. Gus thinks it's important that no context or explanation is provided for the concept of "lynching." It's assumed that Brazilian readers are "experts" on lynching black people.
