Mississippi Parents for Vaccine Rights (MPVR) has been at the forefront of this critical issue for years, advocating for transparency and informed choice. This morning, I have the privilege of speaking with MPVR President Mary Jo Perry and Vice President Lindey Magee to separate fact from fiction and provide clarity on this important topic.

Senator Chad McMahan returns to the show this week, where he presented me with an unexpected question about my past. He inquired how hitting rock bottom enabled me to start anew and forge a path that has brought me to where I am today. The primary focus of his visit was to discuss the school choice bill, which has passed the House and is now headed to the Senate for a vote in the coming weeks. Senator McMahan and I share a common view in support of school choice in Mississippi. We believe this legislation will challenge both underperforming and well-performing public schools while also redirecting public funds to private institutions. However, I personally oppose this bill, not only because I am against rewarding the Democrats in Jackson, Mississippi, who have led their city into conditions resembling a third-world scenario marked by lawlessness, death, and destruction, but also because I disagree with allowing these children to attend schools in more disciplined, successful neighboring districts. Additionally, we touched upon Senator McMahan's efforts to increase transparency and accountability within the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) regarding a variety of issues.

SCHOOL CHOICE DEBATE W/ SHAUN YURTKURAN (Ep #919)

A routine traffic stop on Interstate 20 led to the Rankin County deputies finding over 42 pounds of methamphetamine and 20 pounds of fentanyl hidden inside a vehicle being hauled on a tractor-trailer. According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6 when a deputy noticed a commercial truck carrying multiple vehicles failing to maintain a single lane of travel near mile marker 68. After pulling the vehicle over and speaking with the driver, the deputy became suspicious of potential criminal activity. A consensual search of the vehicles on the trailer led authorities to a silver BMW, where deputies said they found suspicious irregularities. The truck and its cargo were then escorted to a sheriff’s department facility for further inspection. Upon closer examination, deputies uncovered 42.4 pounds of methamphetamine and 20 pounds of fentanyl hidden inside the BMW. According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, investigators believe that neither the driver nor the trucking company were aware of the illegal cargo being transported. As a result, the driver was released without charges, though the case remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Tupelo mayoral candidate Rob Chambers is charged with a misdemeanor after being accused of kicking a teenager in the groin outside his home just one day after filing to run for office. Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said three teens came to Chambers' house in Belden Saturday night, rang the doorbell, then ran away. He said when they did it again, Chambers jumped out of the bushes, grabbed one of the teens and kicked him. "The parents of the juvenile that was kicked filed a report with the Lee County Sheriff's Department," said Johnson, "and an affidavit was signed by the parents in Lee County Justice Court. And subsequently, a warrant was issued for simple assault." Chambers, the only candidate challenging incumbent Todd Jordan, turned himself in to law enforcement Tuesday and posted a $600 bond. In a Sunday Facebook video, the candidate indicated he thought there may have been more to what happened instead of just a prank. "It could be some kind of coincidence," said Chambers. "I don't know. But it certainly appears to me that it's targeted to try to intimidate me to not be involved in this mayoral election." Johnson said what happened was not politically motivated. "This is a situation that — if you've got teenage kids or even when I was a child, kids pulling pranks on other kids — we can say that there was a child at the home the same age that knew these individuals," said the sheriff. The case involving the candidate would normally be handled by Tupelo police, but the department turned it over to the Lee County Sheriff's Department to avoid a conflict of interest. WTVA 9 News reached out to Chambers Tuesday to see if he wanted to comment further after what he posted Sunday. He did not answer multiple phone calls.

Today's entire show is based around a simple request, I want someone to sell me on the incentives for someone to move to Jackson from the suburbs or stay in Jackson instead of moving to the suburbs. This is how we started the show and it took us down a bunch of rabbit holes about how & why Chokwe & his team (IMO) have intentionally destroyed Jackson to enrich themselves. We also got to see his 2022 campaign finance reports and a familiar name pops back up, Terry Lovelace. We discuss how he appears to be Chokwe's largest donor and in my opinion the financier behind Lumumba's reign of terror and the downfall of Jackson. How did him or his company benefit from the near $50,000 in donations made to Chokwe over the 3 year period of 2022 - 2024? I'm only speculating but from the outside looking it stinks!!

Jackson Mayor Chokwe Lumumba says he will seek re-election this year. He has until Friday at 5 p.m. to file the paperwork. That paperwork, though, could create additional evidence for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in its pending case against the embattled mayor. Lumumba could also find himself in hot water with state prosecutors and regulators.

Throw another dollar in the Clay was right again tip jar! JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The state’s top fire inspector says Thalia Mara Hall can’t safely reopen, following a walkthrough of the facility one day before it was slated to reopen. On Thursday, the State Fire Marshal conducted a follow-up walkthrough of the 2,000-seat auditorium, months after it initially found 22 violations at the facility. “While some fire safety issues have been fixed other issues are still being addressed. For example, fire curtains have not been installed; maintenance and inspection paperwork was not available for the elevator and escalators; the fire alarm system is showing trouble and there’s no timeline on when it may be fixed; the sprinkler system needs to be inspected and tested; and fire suppression tools need to be properly tagged,” the office wrote. “When the City of Jackson (COJ) has addressed these safety concerns another walkthrough will be scheduled. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is committed to working with City of Jackson officials to protect the health and safety of the public and important cultural structures like Thalia Mara Hall.” The hall closed in August after microbial growth was found in the facility. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said Thalia Mara was slated to reopen on Friday. However, officials with Marshal Mike Chaney’s office say the report means the opening will be delayed again. Jackson officials say they had not read the fire marshal’s report but will provide a statement once they review it and get feedback from contractors.
