When does autophagy start? I would hypothesize that autophagy is induced around the 16 hour mark of a fast. This also depends on whether or not you go into the fast in ketosis or not. Autophagy has many benefits, one of them is that it activates the clean up of your cells. When the body does not have food, it needs to get energy from somewhere; so it goes for damaged cells, proteins and DNA. 💀 We have cells within our body that begin to dysfunction, and they stick around causing us to age faster. We call them zombie cells — because they refuse to die. 🤬 As they build up in your body, studies suggest, they promote aging and the conditions that come with it like osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease. 🥺 Zombie cells are actually called senescent cells. They start out normal but then encounter a stress, like damage to their DNA or viral infection. At that point, a cell can choose to die or become a zombie, basically entering a state of suspended animation. 😫 The problem is that zombie cells release chemicals that can harm nearby normal cells. That's where the trouble starts. 🧐 Researchers have also shown that transplanting zombie cells into young mice basically made them act older: their maximum walking speed slowed down, and their muscle strength and endurance decreased. Tests showed the implanted cells converted other cells to zombie status. 😔 🛁 One of the best ways to kill off these zombie cells is a process called autophagy. 🧼 😳 Autophagy literally means "eat thy self"; it's the process of cleaning up damaged cells. ✨ Think of the refrigerator you have inside your kitchen. 🧀🥗🥛 🥘 It has groceries that all have an expiration date. What will happen if you let these groceries expire, and instead of throwing the expired food in the trash, you push it toward the back of the fridge? 🤔 🤢 This is going to lead to a toxic environment! Mold, bacteria, and many other disgusting processes will occur. 💯 The human body is like this refrigerator; it has cells, fats, and proteins that all have expiration dates on them. ⏱ If you aren’t intentionally “taking out the trash” so-to-speak, within your body; this can lead to diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. 👎🏻 🍽 ⏰ Fasting helps your body get rid of these expired products! Fasting triggers the process of autophagy, which breaks down and recycles dysfunctional proteins, and cellular debris. Here's why... Yes, excess protein can convert into gluconeogenesis inside the body (the creation of sugar), but, if you are in ketosis at the time of consuming the protein, the excess glucose will be used to replenish glycogen stores. This keeps you in a state of ketosis! How much protein converts to glucose? It's true, excess protein turns into glucose. How much protein converts to glucose levels? According to the research of Dr Gabrielle Lyon, about 60% of protein is converted into blood sugars. Will too much protein kick you out of ketosis? As I mentioned above, the excess is used to replenish empty sugar reserves. So the answer is no, most of the time. A common question I have been asked if eating too much protein will cause weight gain, the opposite is true. The next time someone asks you does eating too much protein make you fat, tell them it is almost impossible. I believe eating more protein can help you with weight loss. Protein is also great because it activates satiety hormones which helps you feel full for longer. [03:45] The Four Stages of Fat Adaptation The Keto Flu Phase When you start keto, your body is not efficient in utilizing ketones for energy. You will not have energy during this phase. Feeling Good You will start to reap the rewards. It’s the right time to cut carbs and boost fat. You want to force your body to become efficient and effective in burning fat as fuel. Start Carb Cycling Start doing some carb refeeds. Bump up protein. This phase will last nine months. Long-Term Keto Exercise performance will be as good as it was on carbs. You hold onto more glucose in the muscle. [17:00] Resetting Your Leptin Levels Matt had lost thirty pounds of body fat. He wanted to lose ten more pounds before his wedding. If you lose weight too fast, then your body will get triggered for survival mode. As soon as your body becomes threatened that it might starve, it will increase your hunger hormone, ghrelin. It’s not a bad thing to experience hunger from time to time. Two refeeds each week are ideal and optimal. It will help you reset leptin. If you refeed for two days, you will regain lost muscle tissue. [37:25] When To Pay Attention To Your Ghrelin When fasting, your body will pump out ghrelin an hour before your typical mealtime is. If you eat at 9 am, then at 8 am, you will get a ghrelin spike. If you skip breakfast for three to five days, then your ghrelin spike will disappear. What makes someone fail a diet is hunger and cravings. When you’re dieting, you’ll be facing some hunger. The way a diet will work is if you can manage the hunger. Most people just quit their diets because of their willpower. What’s the difference between psychological hunger and physiological hunger? Most people’s hunger is psychological. The benefit of fasting and keto is that you can discern the difference between psychological hunger and physiological hunger. There is a benefit to go through hunger phases. [44:10] Following Keto Without A Gallbladder If you are going to attempt keto without a gallbladder, get yourself some medical advice. You can get into a lot of trouble if you mess this up. When you eat something nasty, the damage is going to happen in your liver or gallbladder. If you have a high calcium-based diet, you can impair enzymatic function. [48:30] Breaking Your Fast As A Female Females do better if they break their fast in the morning. Men do better if they break their fast later in the day. Hormones peak and cycle – it can affect your mood, productivity, and your ability to maintain your diet. Females can get into the ghrelin monsters faster than men do. Movie companies need their starlets to look a certain way. Vinnie would receive the call to get people into shape in three weeks. You can’t run off fourteen months of bad behavior. Instead, weight loss is all about diet. Vinnie knew that meat is a great way to lose weight, decrease inflammation, and feel better overall. Plus, meat is heart-healthy. Vinnie wrote the book Fitness Confidential; he didn’t want to put the word ketosis in the book. He knew the medical community would say he was trying to kill people. [06:45] Why Vinnie Never Used The Word “Keto” In 2013, Vinnie heard about net carbs. It doesn’t work! If it worked, Vinnie would tell people to do it. Vinnie gives away his information for free – he has never charged for his information. So, why would he lie to anyone? Vinnie owns the rights to NSNG (no sugars, no grains). No one is certifying the word “keto.” You can take a bowl of sugar, wrap it up, and say it’s keto-certified. In reality, it’s not keto-certified because it’s not good for you. [12:15] Why Insulin Is Important If insulin is so bad, then why do people need it to live? Insulin is a hormone that we need to live. All hormones control mechanisms in our bodies. Insulin does a lot of things. It gets released to go down and cover sugar in our liver. When you eat a piece of fruit, the sugar gets to your liver. Then, the insulin will convert sugar into glucose and stores it around your body. In order to maintain homeostasis, we only have a couple of teaspoons in our blood. Sugar can’t go anywhere. So, our body will store it as fat though long-chain triglycerides. The long-chain triglycerides take a lot of work to break it down. When we eat too many carbs, you are getting an insulin load. It makes us insulin resistant. Then, we can end up type 2 diabetes. The key is to eat foods that are insulin friendly. [18:25] Can Fat Make You Fat? Yes, fat can you make you fat if you eat it in excess. However, fats aren’t going to make you eat in excess. For example, you can eat a whole bag of corn chips. Once you start eating them, you can’t stop. People who are obese can’t stop eating corn chips. While on the other hand, if you went to steakhouse, and you had a giant fatty steak. When you take the last bite and they bring you a second steak, you would bag it up and take it home. Why is that? With the Doritos, the hormones are pouring out. With the meat, you feel satiated. You are going to feel full on fatty things vs. carbs. [27:50] Drinking Too Much Heavy Cream Vinnie tells a story about one of his clients, Gabriella, who stopped losing weight. She had another thirty pounds to go. Gabriella would drink coffee with heavy cream in the morning and eggs. She explains the rest of her diet and it was all perfect. Krissy was deficient in iron and vitamin D. She also developed chronic fatigue and chronic pain, was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis started to get skin issues and eczema patches for the first time in her life. [13:10] About Dwayne Schofield Dwayne had several kidney stone attacks (some had to be surgically removed), chronic acid reflux, asthma attacks (one caused hospitalization), huge eczema patches, very low energy, and was at his highest ever weight. Dwayne knew things needed to change, and they needed to change fast. After doing some research, Dwayne found Dr. Ken Berry and liked his message. When Dwayne tried carnivore, his eczema completely healed, his asthma gone, and the kidney stones were eliminated. Plus, with the carnivore diet, Dwayne lost seventy pounds, his eyes turned blue, and it cured him of food addictions. Dwayne’s life has totally changed in ways he never thought possible since adopting the carnivore WOE, and his health has never been better. [35:30] The Importance of a Healthy Metabolism Most people do not have a healthy metabolism. Pull sugar out of your diet altogether to get to where you need to be. Depending on where your health is at, then you may need to be more extreme with your lifestyle changes. For instance, get rid of all plant products for a certain period of time. Later, you can add plants back into your diet. You may enjoy your new lifestyle so much that you won’t want to reintroduce those foods back into your diet. [41:05] Getting On Board With Carnivore After Dwayne was on the carnivore diet for three months, Krissy got on board. Once Krissy tried carnivore for three months, 95% of her symptoms had gone away. The brain fog was the first thing that went away for Krissy. Honestly, she felt stupid on most days. Now, she can have intelligent conversations at all hours of the day. For the first time in her life, Krissy wasn’t craving anything. Why mess with something that is working so well? [46:35] Balancing Your Omega-6 Some people will find their omega-6 levels get too high when they eat pork. If your omega-6 levels are too high, then inflammation can start. In 2006, Andreas had lost 45 pounds and 80 percent of his blood supply. Doctors diagnosed him with Crohn’s Disease (CD). Your hormones are out of whack. Your blood sugar levels are out of whack. Electrolytes are low. Get to the root cause of why you can’t fast. [25:30] The Importance of Eating Intentionally Eating too many carbs and sugar will pack on pounds and make you feel terrible. Chantel reduces the amount of carbs and sugars that she eats throughout the day. If there’s something that she really wants, then she only takes three bites. What is the primary use for intermittent fasting? Health. Weight loss is a byproduct of good health. The point of fasting is NOT weight loss. The goal is metabolic freedom. The goal is to burn body fat, not sugar. Most people are sugar burners. 75%+ are sugar burners. 5 FLAW WITH THIS STUDY... 1: They didn’t change the fasting schedule. 116 obese individuals for 12 weeks. They followed a 16/8 schedule, which is only one way to practice fasting. 16 hours should be the bare minimum as this is how long it takes to process food. A study at the University of Virginia showed it took 14 hours just for 800 calories to enter the small intestine. The 8 hour eating window. How many times did they eat? They didn’t track. If they grazed for 8 hours then they kept insulin up, the bully of the block. Corporate worker analogy. It is not enough time for healing. Adaption is key with fasting, and health. Think about the greatest fitness trainers in the world, they always change up the routine. This study did NOT change the routine. 2: Cookie cutter approach to intermittent fasting. The age range was 18-64 years old and fasting should be different for men vs women and dependent on age. We know that cycling women should not fast 5-7 days before their period. Did they account for this? I’ve seen men do better with intermittent fasting than women. Post menopausal need more feasting. None of this was taken into account. 3: Didn’t educate these participants on what to eat during their eating window. Participants were randomized such that the consistent meal timing (CMT) group was instructed to eat 3 structured meals per day, and the time-restricted eating (TRE) group was instructed to eat ad libitum from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm and completely abstain from caloric intake from 8:00 pm until 12:00 pm the following day. During their 8 hour eating window they were encouraged to eat ad libitum. Well the pancreas is designed to output insulin twice per day, if they ate throughout the entire 8 hours this would not be good. If you eat like crap, you will create cellular inflammation. Cellular inflammation will prevent weight loss. When you have cellular inflammation, your fat burning hormones cannot do their job. 4: They didn’t keto adapt them beforehand. We want to teach the body to burn fat first, otherwise fasting can have negative effects. Fasting is a muscle. If you are a couch potato and decide to do CrossFit, you results will be bad. Teach the body to burn fast FIRST, then pair intermittent fasting. Wallet to bank account analogy. This is a problem because the body will burn protein and muscle to fulfill the brains desire for glucose, via gluconeogensis. 5: Did these participants have any underlying health conditions? Toxicity such as heavy metals Insulin resistance Diabetes They didn’t do comprehensive lab work on them, just basic testing. If these participants had underlying issues, then those should be addressed WITH fasting. What about muscle loss? This can happen, but this is junk muscle and protein. Some people are puffy where there should be an armpit - this is stagnant lymphatics. If you look swollen in your neck area, that’s a little bit of lymph fluid that’s swelling. Lymph fluid should be flowing like water. [47:00] How To Dry Brush Open up your endpoints first. If your endpoints are shut down, then nothing can move through. Start from the head then move downward. Pump open your lymph. It should be light and gentle. Dry brush in your shower. Brush toward your heart. Go close first, then go farther out. We know what causes other diseases or infections. Cancer is the second cause of death in America, yet we don’t know what it is. The way we think about cancer has changed significantly throughout the years. There is an enormous shift in how we see the disease, affecting how we treat the disease. There is a recognition that cancer is actually an obesity-related disease. In 2003, there was convincing evidence about the correlation between cancer and obesity. In fact, it’s a massive part of cancer. Diet turns out to be 30-35% related to cancer causation. Breast cancer and colorectal cancer are the most prominent obesity-related cancers. “Diseases of metabolism are also diseases of growth.” -Dr. Jason Fung [16:15] Every Cancer Develops From Your Own Cells The number of mutations that are required to get cancer far outstrips the rate of mutation. Why does every cancer look exactly the same? People will have identical cancers that develop independently of each other. Cancer is an evolutionary disease. You can take the tools of evolutionary biology and apply them to cancer instead. All the different mutations are not random because they all end up in the same place. It’s not a random chance mutation; it’s a guided mutation. Cancer is not part of your body; it’s foreign. The immune system will attack cancer cells. [25:00] A Seven-Day Water Fast Could Shrink Tumors The research on water fasts is preliminary. A water fast will maximize autophagy. It will put your cells into maintenance mode. When you fast, your insulin will lower as well as your mTOR. Cancer is a tough thing to study because you cannot use preventative treatments once it gets past a certain point. If you want to study prevention, then you need lots of people. [29:00] The Correlation Between Glucose and Cancer Cancer runs on glucose much better than they run on fat. If a cell is trying to grow, then it needs fuel. Some cancer cells can run on protein and fat. Glucose is the most readily available fuel, and it makes the cell run efficiently. If you starve the cell of glucose, then it can change. Before you develop cancer, nutrition can be enough to prevent it. [38:35] How Bad Fats Could Increase Our Chances of Cancer Bad fats could possibly increase our chances of cancer. However, the data isn’t there yet. Anything that increases inflammation is going to create a risk of cancer. Cancer develops from inflammation and chronic damage. Anything that causes chronic damage to the body puts pressure on the body to be in survival mode. [42:50] The Benefits of Metformin If you have type 2 diabetes, then metformin may be better for cancer prevention. Metformin will turn down excessive growth. If you are in growth mode all the time, it’s bad for longevity. You want your metabolic rate to be lower by eating less. [45:30] Getting Too Much Autophagy Too much autophagy is bad and too little autophagy is bad. You want to be somewhere in the middle. You want to maintain a middle ground of autophagy for the most part. When you eat too much, you’ll turn off autophagy. [47:40] How Fasting Can Improve Chemotherapy Chemotherapy will kill cancer cells. Fasting will turn down normal cell growth. Therefore, they will be less susceptible to chemotherapy. EMFs are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation. You cannot block the magnetic field of penetration from EMFs to our bodies. Studies show that EMFs will increase the risks of brain cancer and other cancers as well. Even though there is some controversy on the studies, Dr. Kedar personally believes that EMF radiation will increase the risk of cancer. Also, EMF radiation can induce diabetes-like symptoms. There are loads of effects that no one can deny from EMF radiation. EMFs are found in wi-fi signals and our cell phones. [10:10] Differences between EMF Radiation Based On Generation Recent generations will have more acute damage from EMF radiation. Even low exposure to EMF from mobile phones may cause health problems. There are many aspects of health that are affected by EMF radiation. For instance, it can cause damage to biological tissues by inducing changes. Shielding EMF radiation has no value in Dr. Kedar’s opinion. In fact, it can be counterproductive. Instead, focus on how you can protect your body from the inside. [18:55] EMF Radiation Can Reduce Capacity of DNA Repair If you are exposed to EMF radiation, then you generate lots of free radicals. Antioxidant enzymes are reduced with EMF radiation. Inflammation will increase with exposure. EMF radiation increases the level of oxidated stress and chronic inflammation. These two cellular deficits are involved in all human chronic diseases. [21:50] How We Can Protect Our Tissues To reduce oxidated stress, your body needs two things: Increased antioxidant enzymes Increased antioxidant compounds You can increase antioxidant levels by activation of Nrf2. These nutrients provide the body with some of the tools it needs to get rid of toxins. Ben Carnivore Lab Work Notes: BUN went up moving more protein through my kidneys Blood Urea Nitrogen and Creatinine these are byproducts of different functions in the body BUN/CREATININE ratio went up Albumin protein went up AST ALT went down Ferritin went up but this can be an issue if there’s oxidized fats in the body. It’s important to look at other oxidative stress markers. C-Reactive protein went down more than 50% (inflammation in the blood vessels) Homocysteine dropped vascular and brain inflammation Cholesterol and LDL’s went up. The body is clearing the system with cholesterols, cholesterol is a band aid, a healer. This shows up with inflammatory markers coming down. Cholesterol makes hormones, cells, and gives the cell membrane what it wants. Inflammation markers all dropped but all particles went up. The oxidative component rules. I’m using cholesterol as an energy source therefore I have more particles that are shuttling more cholesterol. Cholesterol becomes a major fuel source, makes sense. No two people respond to carbs the same; that’s why a CGM is useful. [31:05] The Effects of Cortisol On Glucose Our perception of stress effects our glucose levels. Stress will raise your glucose. It’s good to be aware of your stress levels throughout the day. It’s difficult to know whether or not we are stressed. You cannot hide the stress from your body even if your brain doesn’t think you are stressed. If you’re getting a glucose surge, then try to add a meditation practice to your day. [34:25] About The Dawn Phenomenon First thing in the morning, glucose will rise on its own. In order to wake up from sleep, our body will release cortisol and other hormones. These hormones will have an impact on our bodies. This effect is more pronounced in someone who has diabetes. Evidence suggests that a very healthy person will not have much of a dawn effect. In someone who has perfect insulin sensitivity, then the body will compensate for the glucose surge. It’s normal not to see a dawn effect. [36:10] Optimal Glucose Ranges If you have a fasting glucose of below 100, you’re considered normal. If you are 100 – 125, you are considered prediabetic. If you are 126 and above, you are considered diabetic. If you’re below 100 in the morning, then you’re okay. After a considerable carb-rich meal and you stay below 140, then you’re fine. Nothing would help it. She had surgery and saw multiple specialists. Eventually, Dr. Cate took her husband’s advice and cut the sugar. Andrew Wakefield, The Future of Mandatory Vaccines KKP: 174

Today, I am blessed to have an eye-opening conversation with academic gastroenterologist, Dr Andrew Wakefield, MB, BS, FRCS, FRCPath. He received his medical degree from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School (part of the University of London) in 1981, one of the third generation of his family to have studied medicine at that teaching hospital. He pursued a career in gastrointestinal surgery with a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease. He qualified as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1985 and in 1996 was awarded a Wellcome Trust Traveling Fellowship to study small-intestinal transplantation in Toronto, Canada. He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2001. He has published over 130 original scientific articles, book chapters, and invited scientific commentaries. In the pursuit of possible links between childhood vaccines, intestinal inflammation, and neurologic injury in children, Dr. Wakefield lost his job in the Department of Medicine at London's Royal Free Hospital, his country, his career, and his medical license. He is married to Carmel, a physician and a classical radio presenter. They have four children, James, Sam, Imogen, and Corin, and a black mongrel called Bella. Vaccine manufacturers did the exact same thing. They could have made a safer vaccine, but it would cost them more money. After doing a cost-benefit analysis, they realized it would be cheaper to pay for the children who are brain-damaged and killed. Overall, profits are more important than people. [00:45] Why Not Eating Carbs Isn’t Enough The keto diet makes you lose a bunch of weight, and it also causes inflammation. The keto cookies are made with gluten – they are causing inflammation! If you are not in ketosis some of the time, you will not live to 180. On the Bulletproof diet, people have lost 1,000,000 pounds. Not eating carbs doesn’t work 100% of the time. [04:50] Why We Need To Eat The Right Fats What are our cell membranes made of? Well, it depends where they are found in the body. Look at everything you eat from three different lenses: Is it going to be used as a building block? Is it going to be used as a fuel? What toxins does it have in it? What percentage of your body are carbs? Less than one percent. You do not need carbs as a building block. There is about a two-year half-life of fat in the body. When you eat good fats, it will take two years to make your cell membranes functioning. Saturated fats are awesome because they do not break easily, and they are stable. We have demonized saturated fats. However, 45% of our cell membrane fat is saturated fats. The only fat your body can make is saturated fat. Our brains need these saturated fats. Monounsaturated fats fill in the big building blocks. Omega-3s and omega-6s will be the lubricants. [12:45] Think About Quality Ingredients People will try and put anything in the keto category. It’s a problem. The quality of the ingredients matter. The reason grass-fed butter is such a big thing is because the fatty acid ratios are different. Animal fat is so precious – that’s why Dave raises his own animals. Part of the keto message has to be “don’t eat industrial meat.” It will WRECK your ketosis. Short-ribs from a grass-fed cow are covered in fat. It is a religious experience. Eat less meat and spend more on it if that what it takes to eat grass-fed meat. Half of your fat calories should be saturated. [18:50] Stop Overcooking Your Foods Overcooked food is rough on your liver. When you eat heavily charred meat, you’ll feel bad. It doesn’t matter if it’s delicious; it matters how you will feel when it’s done. Parts of our cells will act as incinerators. They burn our proteins and digest them. Overcooked foods will clog them up. If you keep shoveling them in there, then there is no mechanism to clean them up. Do not eat smoked foods! AND MUCH MORE! Paul Beatty, What Causes Cancer & How to Reverse Aggressive Cancer With The Right Fats - KKP: 160

Ben Azadi interviews Paul Beatty for a discussion all about how cancer grows in the body, and how to reverse aggressive cancer. Paul Beatty, B.A., B.P.H.E., M.B.A., was the national account manager for Canada, for a Fortune 500 company, who in the 1980s came down with a metabolic disease that doctors could not diagnose. After severe flu like feelings and high fever for days, his left side broke out in many patches of bleeding eczema. Neurological symptoms followed and overwhelming fatigue with pain. Doctors first thought it was Multiple Sclerosis, but after specialists in infectious diseases picked up high titres of Epstein Barr virus, Cytomyclo Virus, and HHV6, the diagnosis became -Myalgiac Encephalomyelitis plus fibromyalgia plus malignant hypothermia. Because it was viral, the doctors said they could do nothing at this time but would treat the symptoms. Later, Paul started losing hair, had cysts that had grown in his back cut out and lost 8-10 teeth due to root caries. Paul, an inveterate researcher, continued to get sicker by the day, but he never stopped looking for answers. Finally, he discovered a clinical trial run by Dr. David Horrobin, the Canadian biochemical researcher who eventually healed him. The trial was overseen by Dr. Peter Behan and his wife. It was published in "Acte Neurological Scandinavia" using EFAs as treatment for "Post Viral Syndromes like Epstein Barr Virus". Dr. Behan was a Harvard Trained Neurologist and head of the Neurology Department at Royal Glasgow Hospital in Scotland. Dr. Horrobin was the collaborator behind the "Double Blind Crossover Trial". At the time of Dr. Horrobin’s passing Paul promised his mentor's wife he would carry on the work as best he could. For over 25 years Paul has been quietly helping cancer victims heal themselves one at a time. During this time Paul has helped hundreds and many of their testimonials are listed on the site. She had eight adult teeth pulled because "she didn't have room in my mouth for all of them" (four were wisdom teeth.) [10:45] How to Test for Cavitations Unfortunately, standard x-rays do not show infected jawbones. When you are looking for infections, you have to get a dental cone-beam. Cone-beams are 3D scans of your jaw. Problems in your mouth can cause tonsil and sinus issues. A holistic dentist will know the safest and most effective way to help their patients. [14:45] What to Ask Your Dentist About Cavitations First, make sure that your dentist has a cone-beam scanner. Also, know that even if a small infection is showing, there is a potential that it will be bigger than the scan.
