Dr Benjamin Bikman | 3 Ways to Support Your Kidneys, Effect of Salt on Insulin Sensitivity & More! KKP: 259
Today, I am blessed to have here with me for a THIRD time Dr. Benjamin Bikman. He is a biomedical scientist, professor, and expert on insulin resistance. Dr. Benjamin Bikman studies diabetes and obesity, and much of what he focuses on is a seemingly obscure condition called insulin resistance. But it's, in fact, not very obscure at all. What is insulin resistance? Why did Dr. Benjamin Bikman devote his career to studying something like this? Well, insulin resistance is essentially two things. First of all, some cells in your body aren't responding very well to the hormone insulin. Second, you have more insulin than you did before, a condition called hyperinsulinemia. Dr. Bikman's research focus is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that mediate the disruption that causes and accompanies metabolic disorders, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dementia. Driven by his academic training (Ph.D. in Bioenergetics and postdoctoral fellowship with the Duke-National University of Singapore in metabolic disorders), he is currently exploring the different roles of insulin and ketones as critical drivers of metabolic function. He frequently publishes his research in peer-reviewed journals and presents at international science meetings. In this episode, Dr. Bikman starts by telling us about his journey with social media. In this, he explains his thoughts on why people are so addicted to hatred. He then describes his new manuscript about the differences in the hippocampus of Alzheimer's brains vs. control brains. Next, he discusses sphingolipids, different types of fat growth, and the importance of our humble kidneys! Dr. Bikman finishes up by discussing if people perish purely from diabetes and the link between salt and insulin sensitivity. Most Humans Struggle With This There are chemical mediators to the emotions that we associate with hate. As much as we want to say we hated something in the heat of the moment, the feeling is somewhat satisfying. It is like we've just sunk our teeth in, and we've made the kill. There's almost an animalistic instinct, a satisfaction that comes from letting someone know what you think of them and expressing your anger, hatred, or frustration at them. That is an addictive state. [16:00] Differences In the Hippocampus of Alzheimer's Brains vs. Control Brains Bikman explains that in a new study, they were able to obtain samples of the hippocampus from donors who had passed away both with and without Alzheimer's disease. The hippocampus is the learning memory center of the human brain. When comparing the control brains and the Alzheimer's brains, they found a profound reduction in almost every gene involved in glucose metabolism in the Alzheimer's brains. However, when looking at ketone metabolism, both the control and the Alzheimer's brains looked totally normal. This is a massive step in Alzheimer's research because it shows that it is not a plaque disorder as people believe; it is a metabolic disorder. [19:20] The Effect of Sphingolipids In The Brain – A Mystery Solved There is a class of fats in our cells called sphingolipids. They were named after the mysterious sphynx because we didn't know what they did for so long. However, now we know sphingolipids are doing two things. The first is causing the hippocampus to become insulin resistant. Which in turn results in the reduction in glucose-related genes being expressed. The second is sphingolipids directly alter the function of mitochondria. Mitochondria produce most of the cell's energy, so if they can't function well, neither can the cell. [26:34] Hypertrophy vs. Hyperplasia Fat Growth Fat tissue, what we pinch and jiggle, grows in two different ways. Hypertrophy is where the number of fat cells is set, but each fat cell itself gets bigger. That is a finite growth because once the fat cell has reached the maximum dimension, the fat tissue stops growing. An alternative mechanism of growth is hyperplasia, where the fat cell gets a little big, and then we make another fat cell and then make another fat cell, and it continues. Hyperplasia is essentially limitless fat growth. However, that's actually a healthier way to get fat. If you can grow fat cells through hyperplasia, they stay very insulin sensitive, and the body stays insulin sensitive. [34:00] The Humble Kidney: It’s A Tissue That’s In High Demand! Bikman was surprised in his research at how high the metabolic demand is in the kidney. In fact, he

Dr Nasha Winters | Why Metabolic Flexibility is Key to Extend Your Lifespan KKP:258
Today, I am blessed to have here with me for a second time, Dr. Nasha Winters. She has been on a personal journey with cancer for the last 27 years. Her quest to save her own life has transformed into a mission to support others on a similar journey. Dr. Nasha travels the world to explore integrative cancer clinics, vet cancer protocols for research projects, speak at conferences, and meet with colleagues to help them apply metabolic approaches with their patients. Dr. Nasha offers doctor-to-doctor consultations and intensive mentorships for clinicians who want to more deeply understand metabolic and integrative approaches to cancer. In this episode, Dr. Nasha goes into depth about the processes happening to your cells and your body during cancer. She advises us on how to process the loss of someone you love, all the way to sharing her favorite inflammatory markers. In between, Dr. Nasha explains how we can expand our lifespan by taking care of our mitochondria and the importance of fasting and ketosis during radiation therapy. Dr. Nasha also speaks about different cancer theories in the medical field and why she finds one more hopeful than the other. Text me +1 (786) 364-5002 [01:45] How To Process The Loss Of Somebody You Love And Adore There are only two promises in this world: being born and dying. Even though we intellectually understand death, it's definitely still very painful. At 19, Dr. Nasha met her own diagnosis. It took a long time for Dr. Nasha to really come to terms with understanding death and dying. However, It's not something we're taught in our culture. Yet when you work with chronically ill people with cancer, you're going to see it, and you're going to see it often. Nasha learned to understand that death and dying look exactly the same. They're just an unbelievable passing through a particular threshold; they are not as scary and ugly as we've made them out to be in our world. Death is a powerful threshold; it is a very normal process of life. [09:40] What We Can Do To Extend Our Lifespan Our fountain of youth resides in the health and wealth of our mitochondria. Nasha explains that, unfortunately, new beings are entering this planet with their mitochondria already somewhat polluted and damaged. Then, the longer you are on this planet, and the more you neglect your health, the more damage you do to your mitochondria as well. These mitochondrial conditions make you age faster and be more susceptible to chronic illness processes. Nasha emphasizes that preventative care is key to heading off these conditions and extending our lifespan. There are many easy ways to access what is actually happening in your body, and as a culture, we need to start caring about not just feeling fine but being optimally healthy. Whether people like it or not, this "optimal health" is heavily influenced not only by physical factors, but by our life experiences, emotional intelligence, resilience to stressors, and other important mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our life. [21:12] Metabolic vs. Somatic Theories of Cancer Explained By Dr. Nasha Somatic theory is the concept that our DNA accumulates damages to its structure over time and then sets off a path to a cancering process. This theory supports the idea that cancer is a “bad luck game” and you’re just either going to get it or you’re not. Nasha does not subscribe to this thought process. It creates the idea that you are powerless, and powerlessness is an incredible toxin. Metabolic theory instead conceptualizes that we can see where the cancer cells stem from and that we can make a difference. From our thoughts to our food, to the water we drink and the air we breathe, everything around us affects our mitochondria. Our mitochondria are the “genome protectors;” the key to warding off cancerous cells. So keeping them healthy is crucial. This is where Dr. Nasha sees hope in the vision of cancer, that we can make a difference. [28:12] What Is Affecting Cancerous Cell Replication + What You Can Do About It Once an unhealthy cell switches its fuel source to sugar and starts replicating, it will just keep replicating. Our ability to break to kill off those damaged, dysfunctional or rogue cells is under the complete guidance of our mitochondria. So if our mitochondria are unhealthy, damaged, or inefficient, they cannot stop the attacks. But if you get your body fat down and build up your muscle, you actually start to increase your storage and effectiveness, and efficiency of your mitochondria. Nasha has found that she can help patients take the mitochondria

Dr Will Cole | How Fasting Can Reboot Your Metabolism + Heal Your Digestive System KKP:257
Today, I am blessed to have here with me for the THIRD time Dr. Will Cole. He is a leading functional-medicine expert, consults people around the world via webcam and locally in Pittsburgh. He specializes in clinically investigating underlying factors of chronic disease and customizing health programs for thyroid issues, autoimmune conditions, hormonal dysfunctions, digestive disorders, and brain problems. Dr. Cole was named one of the top 50 functional-medicine and integrative doctors in the nation and is a health expert and course instructor for the world’s largest wellness brands such as mindbodygreen and goop. In this episode, Dr. Cole opens the show explaining the meaning behind intuitive fasting. If you’re not metabolically flexible, fasting will be anything but intuitive. However, when you are finally metabolically flexible, you will intuitively fast and eat. Dr. Cole explains why he’s such a massive fan of fasting for overall health and the ways fasting will help heal your gut. Later, Dr. Cole answers common questions regarding fasting, like if it will help you lose weight and why you can’t fast when you’re eating a poor diet. Tune in as we chat about our favorite supplements for fasting and how tea can be beneficial on your health journey. Text me +1 (786) 364-5002 [01:00] Intuitive Fasting To Renew Your Health And Recharge Your Metabolism The idea of eating only one or two meals a day sounds like an extreme and overly restrictive dieting tactic to most of America. But the truth is, our daily eating schedule—three meals a day, plus snacks—does not necessarily reflect our bodies’ natural cycles. Cole’s book is all about intuitive fasting. However, fasting will be anything but intuitive when you're metabolically inflexible. Instead, the book is a conversation about showing up for yourself to become metabolically flexible. When you are finally metabolically flexible, you will intuitively fast and eat. You can mindfully use intermittent fasting to gain metabolic flexibility so you can hear what your body truly loves. [05:25] Why Dr. Cole Is A Huge Fan Of Fasting For His Health Fasting is an amazing tool, and it's completely free. Plus, fasting is something that it's actually encoded in our DNA. Researchers estimate that our genetics haven't changed in 10,000 years. Your body is made to do so much. It’s time to wake up the body's ability to heal itself and wake up the body's ability to calm inflammation. Sadly, we are living so out of alignment with our biochemistry that we put a lot of our body's healing capacity just to sleep. Fasting is a matter of letting our bodies remember what we were born with. Overall, fasting is an amazing tool that clinically really improves people's labs. [09:25] How Fasting Can Actually Heal Your Gut + Reset Your Digestive System Your microbiome is actually repairing through the night and recalibrating through the night. When you fast, it is calming down the inflammatory cascades that are going on. Also, fasting doesn’t mean that you are cutting calories. Instead, you're eating the same number of foods, you're just eating in specific windows to give your body a little bit more of a fasting time than you normally would. The more often you can fast, you're going to be able to regenerate and repair the gut in a big way. Digesting food requires a lot of energy; so, you're giving your gut a break to not work on digesting food. [13:45] What Food Freedom Means To Dr. Cole Food peace is going longer without eating, not because it's restrictive - but because you can do it, and you feel great doing it. Also, food peace means you can break the fast when you want to. Intuitive fasting can be scary; it can be triggering for people that are addicted to food. Just because something's common doesn't necessarily mean it's normal – most people in the United States have a massive blood sugar problem. The traditional way that American’s live their lives are, in many ways, self-harm; it's not self-respect at all. Food freedom is integrating things in your life that make you feel great. [17:55] The Combination Of Keto And Fasting Is A Total Game-Changer You can’t fast your way out of a poor diet. Dr. Cole doesn’t advocate for people to have these extreme approaches to fasting, where it's like an eating disorder disguised as a wellness practice. Fasting should be a tool that can actually heal your relationship with food, heal your relationship with your body, and actually heal your body. If you look at a lot of the research on intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet, you're going to see similar

Dr Vera Tarman | How to Overcome Food Addiction for Good! How Sugar Affects You Brain KKP: 255
Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr. Vera Tarman. Dr. Vera Tarman started addictions Unplugged in 2008 because she found a need for information on addiction and, more specifically, food addiction. Today, the Addictions Unplugged website serves as a portal and discussion forum for medical professionals, front-line addiction workers, and those affected by addiction to reach out to Dr. Tarman and find out the latest information on treatment. Dr. Tarman has been reaching out to the medical and addiction communities through her workshops and speaking engagements. She speaks on the topics of the science behind food addiction and why we use food for comfort. She has educated thousands of people across the world and hopes to help all those struggling with food addiction. In this episode, Dr. Vera Tarman reveals how she found the connection between indulging cravings for "comfort food" and engaging in substance abuse. Yes, food can become addictive, and Dr. Vera explains how. Plus, we talk about how to know if you're addicted to food and what steps you can take to face that food addiction. Plus, we go deep into what's happening in our brains when we eat sugar and why scientists make food so addictive. She sees people coming into a residential setting, they're putting down their alcohol, cocaine, cigarettes, and marijuana. However, they start picking up the sugar. Within two or three weeks, they started to gain a lot of weight. Eating was very much like their previous behavior of addiction. Now, Dr. Vera loves to talk about the addiction that people have with food. Plus, she even wrote a book on the subject – Food Junkies. It’s a fact-filled guide to coping with compulsive overeating problems. Overeating, binge eating, obesity, anorexia, and bulimia – Dr. Vera tackles the poorly understood issue of food addiction in her book. [08:50] The Negative Impacts On Your Brain When Consuming Sugars Sugars will light up part of the brain that’s emotional and impulsive. It’s the part of our brain that makes us do things without thought - this is all subconscious thinking. Plus, sugar will trigger dopamine primarily, which is our neurochemical of desire. There's also endorphins and serotonin. Endorphins trigger comfort while serotonin triggers connectedness. Addiction will make you want an entire bag of chips. You can’t stop at one or two because your neural biology is so damaged. The physical manifestations of sugar and high-carb addiction are happening in the brain. [17:00] What You Need To Know About The Different Stages of Food Addiction When we talk about food addiction, it's essentially like diabetes. Food addiction is a chronic and progressive condition. You may have a food addiction if you would rather stay at home and eat instead of going out for a social occasion. If you consistently do not feel well because of the food you eat, you may be suffering from food addiction. Another sign of food addiction is eating foods that you know are not going to make you feel good. If your obsession with food is excessive, then you are a food addict. Lastly, if you are in trouble with your health, then you may be a food addict. “You have to be very careful if you're moving down this path of food addiction.” -Dr. Vera [25:25] Fasting For People With Addictions To Food Cutting out sugar will be the first step for people who have an addiction to food. Sugar is the trigger – so, ditch the trigger! If you have a food addiction, be aware of pitfalls. If you have a history of starving yourself, then fasting may not be the right path. Fasting can be healing; however, it’s a tool that can hurt you if you do not know how to use it. If it’s done carefully, fasting can be great for the bod

Dr Rebecca Warren | How to Support Your Thyroid With Ketosis & Fasting KKP: 254
Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr. Rebecca Warren. Her approach to thyroid and hormonal health is simple but powerful: get to the cause, then support the body to heal itself. The thyroid doesn’t work on its own, so when the thyroid is off, it not only affects the entire endocrine system, but all systems within the body. This is why just getting a thyroid dysfunction diagnosis doesn’t mean you’ll ever get well, and in fact can make you worse over time. Likewise, hormonal imbalances indicate something is systemically wrong in the body. In Chattanooga and virtually around the world, Dr. Rebecca coaches her clients on optimal thyroid care via customized plans utilizing lab work and testing, supplements, and functional nutrition. In this episode, Dr. Warren opens the show by talking about her own health journey. At sixteen, Dr. Warren had her gallbladder removed, and at nineteen, she found out about her thyroid cancer. After struggling with depression and weight loss resistance, Dr. Warren found keto, fasting, and other health tools. Dr. Warren gives a massive overview of the thyroid and what you need to know about Reverse T3. Plus, we chat about if you should try keto and fasting with thyroid issues and the danger of staying in ketosis for too long. Text me +1 (786) 364-5002 [00:30] About Dr. Warren And Her Passion For The Thyroid At 16, Dr. Warren had severe pain in her chest. At the hospital, they gave her morphine. Sadly, Dr. Warren had developed thousands of stones in her gallbladder. After getting the gallbladder removed, Dr. Warren needed to recover from morphine withdrawals. Even at 16, Dr. Warren wondered why she was born with a gallbladder if she didn’t need it. Just because they cut out the gallbladder, that didn’t mean Dr. Warren was cured. At 19, Dr. Warren found out that she had cancer. However, it was the “good” cancer to have, thyroid cancer. Well, the doctors were ready to have her thyroid cut out, and Dr. Warren had the surgery done. Warren became weight loss resistant, and she started to struggle with depression. When you think about depression, you think about suicide. However, depression can mean waking up every single day with a massive burden. Eventually, Dr. Warren found keto and fasting to change the healing process in her body. [10:30] An Overview Of The Thyroid + What To Know About Reverse T3 The hypothalamus is a thyroid-releasing hormone; it goes from the hypothalamus to the pituitary and the pituitary to the thyroid. When we talk about carbs, fat, and ketosis, it all goes back to the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is the master control center of all the hormones, not just your thyroid hormones, but all hormones. The Reverse T3 (RT3) Test is one that Dr. Warren recommends. Many doctors have an issue with it. RT3 is an inflammatory marker that gives you a good idea of how your body responds to stressors. We can’t wait around for studies to prove what we know or feel in our body. You have to trust your body because you live in your body. [18:10] Can You Do Keto And Fasting With A Thyroid Issue? Listen to what your body is telling you to do. Getting in ketosis can decrease free T3 – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. People think they need carbs for free T3. However, you make more free T3 to deal with inefficiencies when it comes to metabolism. Your blood work might show that your free T3 is low, but your body knows that it doesn’t need it as much. Remember, the hypothalamus will regulate what's going on within our body. The thyroid is a layered thing. When it’s off, it will affect loads of different things. When you utilize keto, it will help the gut microbiome. Inflammation in the gut will make thyroid issues worse. So, keto will change the gut microbiome for the better. Eat good fermented foods for your gut microbiome. T3 goes down with keto, so there is less demand on the thyroid. Now, you can detox the body! [29:50] The Benefits To Using Fasting For Thyroid Support Fasting is beautiful for coming off high-dose medications. When people start fasting, their cell receptor sensitivity will change. Then, they will need fewer medications. On day three of a block fast, people will get an increased heart rate, and their whole body will change. When you start fasting, you will become more sensitive and need less medicine. Having adverse reactions is a good thing! It means your body is changing, and it’s getting

Dr Anthony Jay | Artificial Estrogens, Benefits of Getting Sunshine, Cholesterol Myths & More! KKP: 253
Today, I am blessed to have here with me the President and CEO of AJ Consulting Company, Dr. Anthony Jay. Dr. Jay earned a B.A. with a double major in Biology and Theology from Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida, where he researched HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) inhibitors. After college, he continued to work with virus (lentivirus) in the context of Alzheimer's disease for the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs. Next, Dr. Jay earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University School of Medicine, researching fats, hormones, and cholesterol. Dr. Jay has also worked for 3 years as a scientific researcher at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, researching stem cells, epigenetics, and infrared light. Currently, in addition to leading AJCCo, Dr. Jay is a bestselling author of Estrogeneration. Did you know that the water from our faucet is full of birth control? In this episode, Dr. Jay reveals how he found his passion for artificial estrogens. Then, we jump into the importance of getting sunshine every single day. Not only are there loads of mental health benefits, but the UV will help break up toxins under your skin. Then, Dr. Jay talks about cholesterol and all-cause mortality, optimal vitamin D levels, and sunscreen problems. We end the conversation jumping into all things Covid, including face masks and vaccines. Text me +1 (786) 364-5002 [00:20] About Dr. Jay + His Interest In Artificial Estrogens Jay got interested in artificial estrogens way back in college. In college, they told him the water from the faucet was full of birth control. It opened up an entire can of worms. Jay started to recognize fake estrogen chemicals all over the place. So, he compiled a top ten list of these daily exposures and wrote the book You can get the book here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRAFYZL/benazadi-20 [03:10] The Benefits of Getting Sunshine Every Single Day There are a lot of interesting genetic risks that are dependent on sunshine and basically fixed by getting out in the sun. Sunshine will help increase your body’s metabolism. The sun will also help break down toxin removal. Laser removal of tattoos is literally zapping heavy metals. Those heavy metals are in big enough chunks that your immune system cannot clear them. Sunshine will zap the large chunks of heavy metals. Even if you don’t have tattoos, the UV will help you break up toxins from under your skin. Jay’s favorite benefit is that it increases your body’s natural production of melanotan. Plus, sunshine will help combat seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Watch the video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y-1fsJbd0A [12:25] An Intriguing Study! Total Cholesterol And All-Cause Mortality There’s a study called: Total cholesterol and all-cause mortality by sex and age: a prospective cohort study among 12.8 million adults. You can check it out here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-38461-y The research is very clear about optimal levels for total cholesterol. When you get above 200 on your cholesterol, doctors will tell you that you need statins as soon as possible. Jay takes the prescriptions and then throws them out. However, if your blood sugar's above 85, fasted, that's a threefold higher risk of heart disease. Anything above 85 is not considered optimal. Americans will come in at 95, and a cardiologist will ignore that. [16:30] The Optimal Ranges For Your Vitamin D Levels 30 – 70 or 30 – 100 are optimal ranges. The average American is at 30. As soon as you get below 50, you see associations with health issues. For instance, people will suffer from gut issues, chronic fatigue, and depression with those levels. If you are at 200, there is some risk of calcifying your arteries. Keep it between 50 and 100 for optimization. Getting in the sun will bump your levels up to 70 or 80. [19:50] The Issues With Sunscreen - How Safe Is Sunscreen? The main ingredient is oxybenzone. It’s a manmade chemical, and it acts like estrogen in your body. You do not want to rub it on your skin. After one application of sunscreen, oxybenzone levels were above the government's safety levels even one week later. The government limits are absurd, anyway! Estrogen chemicals don’t kill the cells because they act like estrogen. It will do a lot of weird things to the cell instead. Zinc is an excellent alternative for sunscreen. Check out the products that Dr. Jay uses: https://www.ajconsultingcompany.com/whatiuse.html [24:25] Dr. Jay’s Favorite Ways To Optimize Your Immune System The best way to optimize your immune system is to sleep. Most people are sleep-deprived. Jay will get an hour and a half of deep sleep and an hour and a half of REM sleep. In college, Dr. Jay would sleep three hours a night

Shawn Wells | Why Reducing Blood Sugar Is A Total Game-Changer For Anti-Aging KKP:252
Today, I am blessed to have Shawn Wells, MPH, LDN, RD, CISSN, FISSN join the show. He is a product formulator and expert in performance nutrition, longevity, fitness, and supplementation. He earned his master’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he studied nutritional biochemistry with a minor in exercise science. Shawn is a Registered Dietitian with a decade of experience as a Chief Clinical Dietitian in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. He is also a Certified Sports Nutritionist and has worked with celebrity clients and professional athletes. On the road to being dubbed “The World’s Greatest Formulator”, Biohacktivitst, and Keto Authority, Shawn faced and overcame significant obstacles with his own health—weight issues, depression, autoimmune conditions (Epstein-Barr, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), two cervical discs replacements, and a pituitary adenoma, which is a type of brain tumor. They say everything happens for a reason, and in Shawn’s case, his health problems led him down a winding path that required him to find science-based solutions, and they sparked his personal passion for biohacking. In this episode, Shawn Wells opens the show by diving straight into his story. After finding his passion for supplements, Shawn went through massive ups and downs to get him where he is today. Eventually, Shawn found keto, and the rest is history! He reveals the common mistakes that people make when first trying keto. Shawn ended up getting really into supplements. He would take supplements, work out and see all these changes in his body. Eventually, Shawn realized he needs to chase his dreams of being a formulator and working with athletes. So, Shawn told his counselor about his new dreams – he laughed at Shawn. Later that night, Shawn almost committed suicide because his dreams had been totally crushed. Eventually, Shawn got into his dream school and pursued his goals despite what his counselor told him. During this work, Shawn’s autoimmune system exploded; he had loads of issues. However, Shawn found keto, and it changed his life forever. [16:15] Common Mistakes That People Make When Trying Keto A lot of people try dirty keto by drinking diet sodas and using artificial sweeteners. Making your own keto desserts is another mistake. Also, many people think they can eat out and still eat keto. Shawn says he would try and eat Burger King while following the keto diet. Eating too much protein can be a mistake for people. Instead, think about eating more fat. That way, you feel full faster. The higher your ketones get, the more you will struggle to eat. If women can’t get into ketosis, Shawn says to try a period of strict keto. Down the road, you can play with net carbs. [23:20] Why Dihydroberberine Is A Total Game-Changer For Anti-Aging Metformin is the most powerful anti-aging agent that we have ever seen. People have been taking it for twenty years. In 90 days, people's biomarkers looked like there was an improvement of two years of longevity after using metformin. Dihydroberberine is the active metabolite of berberine. It is five to ten times more bioavailable. It doesn’t have the GI distress that metformin has. Plus, dihydroberberine lasts twice as long in the plasma. For keto and anti-aging, dihydroberberine is powerful! In Shawn’s book, The ENERGY Formula, there’s a story about the importance of self-love and community. Shawn uses the word biohacking because people connect with it. 4 Reasons Why Long Term Ketosis is Bad For You & How to Practice Keto Flexing - Ben Azadi KKP: 251
On this episode, I explain 4 reasons why long-term keto is a bad idea. Today is the worldwide release of Keto Flex, and I dive deep into Chapter 10 which is all about keto flexing. It will cause you to burn excess body fat and improve your overall health. But there’s one important caveat. A constant, unrelenting state of ketosis—in which your body is burning its own fat for fuel—is obviously unsustainable, because eventually you’d have no more fat. In this chapter, we move into the Flex pillar, which will allow you to maintain your Keto lifestyle month after month, year after year. Four Reasons Why Prolonged Ketosis Is Counterproductive My mantra is, “Lose the excess fat; treasure the necessary fat.” Ketosis is a brilliant strategy for accomplishing the first goal. As for the second goal, prolonged ketosis doesn’t have an automatic shut-off valve. If you remain in state of constant ketosis, burning your own fat, then your body will keep doing that as long as it must to stay alive. If necessary to preserve life, once your fat is gone, various bodily functions will be shut off or minimized. This process of shutting down will continue until Mr. Death knocks on your door and says, “Sorry, buddy—time’s up.” No one wants that. To ensure that you’re well informed, let’s review some of the bad things that can happen if you go too far with ketosis. Fat Burning Slows Down As levels of body fat drop, your primal brain, whom we thought we had trained to accept a high-fat diet and fasting, will be aroused and will begin to object. Why and when will this happen? Your primal brain, that eternal watchdog, will sense that your reserves of fat are becoming depleted. Remembering those long periods of deprivation thousands of years ago, your primal brain will sound the alarm: The fat supply is running low! It will issue the command that your body must preserve its precious fuel. In response, your body will actually slow down fat burning—all for the sake of survival! When you stay in ketosis too long, the body starts to rebel, and conserve its fuel. A good analogy is if you lived out in the woods and you had stored 500 logs of firewood to heat your cabin for the winter. These were your reserves, because you could still go out and chop more firewood. So if you had to dip into these reserves, you wouldn’t be worried. But now it’s early March, and snow still covers the ground. It’s been a tough winter and you haven’t harvested many trees, and you see that you’ve got only 50 logs left. That’s a very low supply! Suddenly you’re reluctant to use them because you don’t want to run out. When you had 500 logs, you didn’t care about burning them. The same thing happens with your body fat. This is why when you stay low carbohydrate for too long, your body will slow down fat metabolism. And you know what? This is a good thing. There is a big difference between losing excess fat and losing all your fat. You want to lose excess fat. But your body needs a small amount of fat, and your primal brain is smart to insist that you meet this minimal requirement. Thyroid Problems Hormone production is often a function of a “chain of command,” as orders are passed from one organ to another, until the desired outcome is achieved. The hypothalamus and the pituitary gland, which are located in the brain, help control the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your throat, just below the Adam’s apple. To provide their direction to the thyroid, the hypothalamus releases thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), which stimulates the pituitary gland to release thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). When the hypothalamus and pituitary are working normally, they respond when: Thyroid hormone levels are low, so they secrete more TRH and TSH, which stimulates the thyroid to make more hormones. Thyroid hormone levels are too high, so they secrete less TRH and TSH, which reduces hormone production by the thyroid. The thyroid gland uses iodine from food to make two thyroid hormones: triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). The primary secretory product is inactive thyroxine (T4), which is a prohormone of triiodothyronine (T3). T4 is converted to T3 peripherally by tissues with high blood flow, including the liver and kidneys. In the brain, T4 is converted to active T3 by type 2 deiodinase produced by glial cells. The thyroid stores T3 and T4, and releases them as they are needed. These two thyroid hormones function in almost every cell in your body, and play a fundamental role

Plus, the doctor said he was pre-diabetic and pre-obese. At 26, you should be in the best shape of your life, and Logan sadly had let himself go. The doctor told Logan that if he kept doing what he was doing, he would die. It was a total wake-up call. A few days later, Logan got a gym membership and committed for the entire year. If the gym intimates you, then Logan says not to worry – everyone goes through that phase. Logan met a YouTube trainer at the gym who told him how to get shredded using exercise, keto, and fasting. It’s crazy that you can eat all this butter, fat, and meat while losing weight. [09:25] What’s Goody? The Story Behind Logan's Alias - Goody Beats In college, Logan would say, “what’s goody?” Logan wanted to make beats for rappers, so he claimed the name Goody Beats. When Twitter came out, Logan took the name Goody Beats. Goody Beats has nothing to do with nutrition or health – it’s just a name that Logan came up with back in 2008. [18:25] Three Mistakes People Make When Starting A Keto Lifestyle Falling For Tricky Marketing Tactics Always look at the ingredients. Just because you see keto on the box doesn’t mean it’s actually keto. You Are Scared of Fat Fat and carbs are your fuel sources. If you don’t give yourself enough fat, then you won’t have enough energy. When following keto, increase your healthy fats. You Aren’t Avoiding The Keto Flu People don't understand the importance of magnesium, potassium, and sodium. Keto flu has nothing to do with keto. It’s an issue with withdrawing from carbohydrates. [23:00] Getting Back Into Ketosis After A Fun-Filled Trip If you had a weekend of fun, then forget about it! You don’t need to dwell on what happened. Don’t punish yourself for eating something “bad.” Also, don’t focus too much on what you’re eating. For instance, if you are enjoying a family event, then enjoy the event! Don’t let eating get you down. Once you get back from an event, then focus on your normal routine. After a trip, get back to your fasting and get back to your keto diet; you're going to be fine. Having a negative relationship with food and your body is just not good for your mind, body, and soul. [29:40] Why Logan Loves Keto Grocery Shopping These Days When you go to the grocery store now, there is keto everything. In 2012, there was nothing keto. So, Logan had to get creative in the kitchen. If people think they can’t do keto because they love ice cream, that’s simply not true! There is keto everything in the grocery store. Always look at the ingredients and make sure that it actually fits into your lifestyle. [32:55] Having A Community On Your Keto Journey - What You Need To Know When Logan first started doing keto, he got a lot of negativity from trainers in the gym. Logan isn’t a science guy, he doesn’t know how things work, but he has his experiences. Always try things; you don’t have to keep doing it if it doesn’t work out. When Logan found the keto community, he felt so supported. The keto space is the best community because people want to work together as a team to help other people. [37:30] Testi

One of his patients gave him the book, Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms? In the book, there is a section on adrenal fatigue – it was exactly what Dr. Joel was experiencing. Check out the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Still-Thyroid-Symptoms-Tests-Normal/dp/0985690402/benazadi-20 At the end of the day, adrenal fatigue is a terrible term. However, it doesn't mean that it's not a legitimate challenge for exhausted and burnt out people. Joel’s mission is to educate people that have identified with the term adrenal fatigue. [04:05] What You Need To Know About Adrenal Fatigue Adrenal fatigue is such a lousy term because the adrenals don't exactly fatigue. You have all these stressors in life that set off the alarm, and you're able to keep up with it for a certain amount of time, and that's called the resistance phase. Eventually, your supply and demand are no longer equal - you have more demand than you do supply. As a result, you create something called fatigue. With adrenal fatigue, you've lost the ability to regulate your internal and external environment - as a result, you have a supply and demand problem. Basically, if you're exhausted, burnt out, and can't handle stress, you have HPA axis dysfunction (AKA adrenal fatigue). [09:40] The Accumulation of Stress: Why We Need To Learn More The accumulation of stress is a massive problem for adrenal fatigue. Sadly, it’s things that we don’t even think about like notifications, EMF, chemicals, pesticides, and so many others. When someone is burnt out, it’s a number of things, not just one. That’s something that people need to learn more about. [15:30] The Five Causes of Extreme Fatigue Cases Blood Sugar Blood sugar adds to your inflammation. Not stabilizing your blood sugar is probably the number one enemy. GI Disturbances The majority of our challenges are in our gut. Get food that grandma recognizes – no artificial sweeteners! Nutrient Availability And Nutrient Deficiencies If you're not absorbing your nutrients effectively, you have a negative deficit. You're overloading the liver, and it's costing you energy. Circadian Rhythm Balance Protect your exposure to light. Find a connection to the Earth. Environment Mold and chemicals. 5G plays a big role. [22:20] How To Fix Your Mind By Resetting Dopamine Awareness is key! Turn off your notifications in order to restore dopamine. Put your wireless router on a timer – it will massively improve your sleep. Stop multitasking and only complete one thing at a time. Once a task is over, completely move on to the next one. Daniel Eisenman | Why You Should Start Taking Bison Liver KKP: 248
Today, I am blessed to have Daniel Eisenman join the show. He graduated Pre-Med from Emory University with a BS (Key Acronym) in Biology and even took the MCAT in 2007. Before applying to medical school to stay on the path of "NORMAL" as people advised him, he decided to "take a year off." That year off has now turned into a decade of BREAKING NORMAL while getting paid to the do the things he would pay to do, including visiting all 50 states and around 20 countries. Daniel travels the world as a keynote speaker and facilitator of radical retreats and workshops (though he likes to call them playshops, as what's more pure than play?) based on the principles of raw honesty and emotional freedom. Daniel shows you a process of self-acceptance through self-expression by guiding you to lose your mind in order to connect to your heart while truly living inside-out. He lives in San Diego, California with his wife, Diana, their beautiful daughter, Divina, and their amazing dog, Oriah. In this episode, Daniel Eisenman reveals the inspiration behind his Breaking Normal empire. Plus, we chat about his Tribe Vitamins and why you need to start microdosing on these liver supplements. Bison and elk liver are some of the most nutrient-dense foods, and you will see a significant difference after taking them. Also, we have a massive discussion about people’s mindset regarding health habits, masks, and vaccines. Sadly, too many people are living based on fear. It’s time that we look at science and finally take back our freedom again. Tune in as we chat about the benefits of the sun, where it typically does not shine. For most people, if they go from the standard American diet to a raw vegan diet, they will lose a pound a day. Eventually, Daniel and his brothers become raw vegan icons. However, the diet stopped working. Unfortunately, Daniel’s testosterone was so low that the doctor was ready to prescribe testosterone right there and then. Instead, Daniel ate a piece of salmon and woke up with morning wood for the first time in a long time. Now, Daniel has a podcast called Breaking Normal. People have unconsciously given each other spells of self-sabotage, co-creating mass hypnosis – without even knowing it. Daniel is working on breaking normal! [06:25] Break Free of Health Patterns That Are No Longer Serving You People will give up their identity for one way of being. Sadly, when that being is no longer serving them, they don’t take the time to find something different. Unfortunately, the path that someone finds themselves on can be the path they lose themselves on. It takes courage to swallow the pill of truth and find the path that will work for you. There's no single culture in the history of this world that stuck with the same diet long-term. In history, there were periods of time when people were vegan, raw vegan, keto, carnivore, but they adapted and changed. True health comes when you reach metabolic freedom and flexibility. Keto is a tool on your journey, but it’s not the only tool. The only thing that's important is your true health. [11:10] The Reasons Why You Should Start Taking Bison Liver Bison is America’s national animal – it’s the biggest indigenous animal that still naturally lives here. Sadly, there are only a few pioneers left in the bison industry. Not many people are raising 100% grass-finished bison. Daniel is basically buying all their liver, and he freeze-dries it. Then, he encapsulates it so people can microdose on that liver on a daily basis. The liver is nature's most potent multivitamin. The supplements work! People that take them seem to have more stamina and energy. Whereas some people even have miraculous testimonies. Bison liver is chock full of heme iron, which is easily absorbed in the body. It causes a very similar response to when humans eat too much grain. Plus, bison need a lot of land to run on. Sadly, people try to get away with having them on less land. Growing up, he was trying to become an NHL hockey player. Sadly, his parents split up, and he moved across the country. At his new school, Lance was bullied terribly. Then, Lance got the stepmom from hell, which made his life even worse. Looking back, all this adversity was his greatest teacher. Eventually, Lance discovered alcohol – it allowed him to numb his feelings and realize that he can invent a new person. A few stupid mistakes cost Lance his career – he experimented with steroids and felt like he let his family down. Later, Lance lost his younger brother to suicide and his dad to cancer within 18 months. It was a total wake-up call. He has learned to accept his story - all the good, the bad, and the ugly. [09:55] Getting Clear And Finding Fulfillment After Overcoming Adversity In order to achieve anything great, there's always going to be some sort of resistance. Adversity is a level of struggle or resistance that is going to challenge you. We need to see adversity as necessary. The challenge is resistance for getting us to the next level. Fulfilment comes from overcoming something that you felt you couldn't do. [14:45] How To Start Building That Life Of Abundance And Happiness First, pay attention to how you feel. What story are you telling yourself? So many of the stories that we tell ourselves just aren't true. Get clear on what you want your story to be. Getting clear will take a lot of contemplating and reflecting. We get to create the present moment as a fresh, clean slate. An action step would be to start journaling - the awareness and the consciousness is so important. Dr Richard Jacoby | How to overcome your sugar addiction for good! KKP: 243
Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr. Richard P. Jacoby. With offices located in Scottsdale and Peoria, AZ, podiatrist Richard P. Jacoby, DPM of Extremity Health Centers has the equipment and expertise to tackle all of your foot or ankle concerns. While skilled in treating various foot and ankle conditions, Dr. Jacoby specializes particularly in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy. He is an expert in the Dellon® surgical procedure, which is a type of nerve decompression surgery used to restore sensation, relieve pain, and prevent ulceration and amputation. Dr. Richard P. Jacoby, DPM has won the Phoenix Magazine Top Docs Award on four different occasions (2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010), and with his 49 years of experience, he is the podiatrist you seek to treat all of your foot and ankle concerns. In this episode, Dr. Jacoby opens the show speaking about his backstory researching diabetes for Taiwan's Surgeon General. We talk about Dr. Jacoby's book, Sugar Crush: How to Reduce Inflammation, Reverse Nerve Damage, and Reclaim Good Health. As one of the country's leading peripheral nerve surgeons, Dr. Jacoby reveals his theory about the relationship between sugar consumption and many disease processes we don't typically associate with high sugar diets. Plus, we chat about how to boost your immune system to protect yourself from Covid-19. / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [04:00] Sugar Is Not Only A Drug, But It’s Also A Toxic Poison Too Sugar is a poison. Table sugar is really glucose, which is not sweet, mixed with fructose, which is sweet. Well, that’s a disaccharide which is a poison. Most people love this poison because the hippocampus in your brain is the addiction center. The brain will turn off enzymes that cause satiation. Sugar is probably 20 times worse than cocaine. Ancel Keys told us that cholesterol was causing heart disease; however, that’s a total lie. Every process in the body is nerve-muscle function. Through Dr. Jacoby Global Compression Theory, he links carbohydrates to conditions like plantar fasciitis, Alzheimer's disease, MS, ALS, and Autism. If you're carrying the genes and eating sugar, you're going to get that particular disease. [20:15] Avoiding The Hidden Dangers Of High-Fructose Corn Syrup 80% of all the food in the United States has high-fructose corn syrup in it. High-fructose corn syrup is made by putting the corn in sodium hydroxide. For many years, they were using mercury to separate the starch from the husk. Plus, it’s grown with glyphosate, which is the main ingredient in Roundup. This is one of the reasons that Autism is so high. [24:30] How Does The Immune System Fight Covid-19? The vaccine does not prevent you from getting the vaccine. It will change your response to the virus. Why do some people die from a virus and other people don’t? If your immune system is down, it won’t be able to kill the virus. While on the other hand, if you have a healthy immune system, it will kill anything. The higher our inflammatory levels, the lower our vitamin D levels will be. Take vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc, melatonin, and don't eat sugar. That way, you have a 99.9% chance of not dying from this virus. [33:00] Our Food Supply In The United States Is Making The Virus Worse Jacoby isn’t telling people don't eat sugar. He’s saying if you do eat sugar, then you're going to die. Sugar tastes great – it’s a drug! We all eat it. However, we should know better in 2021. Sadly, our tax dollars are broadcasting lies. Plus, we are wearing masks and being told to stay inside. Money and control are at the root of our problems. There is a direct link between sugar in our diet and nerve damage, which results in a wide range of chronic, debilitating diseases that are seemingly unrelated. [41:30] Your Body Is Built To Heal Itself + How You Can Help Stop eating sugar, get vitamin D, vitamin C, melatonin, get sun, and you’re going to be fine. That’s what it takes for your body to handle the virus. Jacoby says that if you are selling the keto diet, then you should be able to open your restaurants. If your restaurant is selling sugar, then you need to stay closed. People should be outraged! We can empower others and change the entire outcome of our country. Catharine Arnston | The most significant nutrient missing from your keto diet KKP: 241
Today, I am blessed to have here with me the Founder and CEO of ENERGYbits, Catharine Arnston. Catharine started ENERGYbits after her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and advised by her oncologist that an alkaline diet would help her heal. Catharine immediately sprung into action to help her sister research alkaline foods and in the process she discovered algae. When Catharine learned that algae was the most alkaline, plant-based, nutrient-dense food in the world and had been used for fifty years in Asia to improve health and longevity, she knew she had discovered something big (and yes, her sister fully recovered - thanks for asking). As Catharine dug into the science of algae, she learned it had 64% protein, 40 vitamins/minerals and was endorsed by the United Nations and NASA as the most nutrient dense food in the world. She also discovered there were 100,000 studies documenting its long list of benefits and it was the most sustainable, eco-friendly food crop in the world. And yet algae remained virtually unknown outside of Asia. How could this be possible? Catharine knew algae could be a game changer for our health, our children and our world if she could only convince people it wasn't weird. And so ENERGYbits was born. It took Catharine ten years to bring algae into the mainstream and build ENERGYbits into a national company. We're glad she finally did, because now you and your family can benefit from our naturally grown, toxin-free, Non-GMO algae tablets too. A handful will help satisfy your hunger, help give you steady energy, and help ensure your nutritional needs are met. All this from a food that has one ingredient, no chemicals, caffeine, sugar or processing and is the most sustainable, safe, eco-friendly, crop in the world - algae. Your body and Mother Earth say thank you. And we do too. In this episode, Catharine Arnston reveals the inspiration behind her algae research. After her sister's battle with breast cancer, Catharine knew she needed to get her message about the power of algae out and into the world. Algae has so many robust benefits, especially for people on the ketogenic or carnivore diet. Today is all about microalgae – it's called that because it's microscopic, 100 cells of microalgae could fit on the head of a pin. We talk about the differences between spirulina and chlorella. Plus, we dive into the importance of K2, omega-3, and why you need to ditch that fish oil. / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. Use keto15 for 15% off: https://www.drphillipscbd.com/ketokamp [00:40] About The Ingenuity Behind Catharine's Robust Algae Research Catherine didn't find algae; it found her. About 12 years ago, her younger sister developed breast cancer. Her oncologist in Canada said to change her diet to an alkaline diet because it would help with her healing. An alkaline diet is primarily a plant-based diet because of the phytonutrients in the chlorophyll – it has been proven to build your immune system. Alkaline is also very beneficial for anyone on a carnivore or keto diet. Algae is the most alkaline food globally; it's also the most nutrient-dense food in the world. One gram of algae has the same nutrition as 1,000 grams of fruits and vegetables. There are no anti-nutrients because algae is not technically a plant. It doesn't have any oxalates, phytates, or lectins. [09:45] The Importance of Supporting Our Body's Cells Using Algae You have microalgae and macroalgae. Today we're talking about microalgae – it’s called that because it's microscopic in size, something like 100 cells of microalgae could fit on the head of a pin. The two we're going to talk about are spirulina and chlorella. They are not toxic because they are harvested in freshwater. Spirulina was the first life on Earth about 4 billion years ago. If you put the spirulina in the water, you'll see this blue, beautiful blue color come out. While on the other hand, chlorella is just a green pigment. Well, chlorella is a fat-based pigment. Spirulina has been scientifically proven to intercept the Covid virus. Also, it’s very energizing and an organic source of iron. Plus, it will help avoid the keto flu because it doesn’t increase your glucose or decrease or ketones. You can stay in your intermittent fasting without hunger using spirulina. Chlorella has the most chlorophyll. If you're not eating greens, you're missing out on this really wonderful nutrient. It will heal your cell walls, and it's effectively building your blood. [24:10] The Reasons We Need Quality K2 In Our Diets K2 will pull out excess calcium from soft tissue. Almost everyone is deficient in K2 - that's exactly why heart disease started escalating. It can certainly help with your longevity and your appearance by pulling out all that excess calcium. [27:50] The Strong Benefits Of Chlorophyll For

Dr. Lieurance is the developer of Functional Cranial Release and teaches, as well as certifies, these methods to doctors around the world. In this episode, Dr. Lieurance opens the show by talking about my recent visit to his clinic. First, we dive into what we need to understand about back pain. When someone has back pain, the pain isn't the problem. Instead, it's what is causing the pain is the problem. If you're suffering from pain, then it's critical to get down to the root cause. That way, you can start getting proper treatment. We chat about TRT treatment, AVACEN, and PRP injections for back pain. Plus, we talk about the importance of fasting and why you want to consider taking a NAD supplement. https://www.mitozen.com/ketokamp/ / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [01:50] Understanding Back Pain Anybody that has back pain, their problem isn't the pain. Instead, the problem is what's causing the pain. Chiropractors are taught to look at structural aspects of the spine. When you make an adjustment on a patient, you're actually improving the mechanical movement of the spine. When people have back pain, they’re convinced something is wrong with a disc. However, it may not be a disc at all. That’s why Dr. Lieurance likes prolotherapy. It’s a procedure where a natural irritant is injected into the soft tissue of an injured joint. Temporarily, you'll have relief from your pain. If the pain goes away, then the person needs to do a series of injections to heal the core of the problem. [07:50] Healing The Body With TRT Treatment TRT (tissue regeneration technology) can help heal your body. The depth of penetration of this machine can treat hips and lower backs; it is really exceptional. TRT will stimulate stem cells and improve circulation. Dr. Lieurance will use that on a lot of patients with neuropathy. Any area where there's damage in the body, we can use TRT treatment to enhance significant healing in the body. [10:10] How The AVACEN Works The AVACEN works on the sympathetic, parasympathetic nervous system. There's an incredible amount of representation of the hand in the brain. So, giving stimulus to the hand can have very powerful effects on the autonomics. Your autonomics are really the area of your nervous system that are taking the stress when you are in sympathetic. Basically, the AVACEN will switch people more into the resting and digesting mode. [13:10] Getting PRP Injections The PRP injections are done around the ligaments. The PRP goes in as a liquid, and there's a little bit of an anesthetic in there. Very shortly after, it turns into a solid, like gelatin. Basically, it's grafting where the damage is in your back. The process is quick, but it is not enjoyable. PRP shots will help remove some of that fatty tissue in the back. These fatty tissues will develop in the back when those muscles aren't getting activated enough. [20:20] The Feast-Famine Cycle Calorie intake is what dictates this feast-famine signaling. Dr Sylvia Tara | Why we gain weight and what to do about it! KKP: 239
Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr. Sylvia Tara. She holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from The University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She was a healthcare management consultant with McKinsey & Company and has worked for the world's largest biotechnology companies. After an extended battle with fat, Dr. Tara became fascinated with its resiliency and embarked on a mission to better understand it. This book culminated in years of research and interviews with physicians, patients, and leading scientists. The Secret Life of Fat will forever change how you think about this misunderstood organ. Dr. Sylvia Tara is the author of the book, The Secret Life of Fat. This new book brings together historical perspective and cutting-edge research to reveal fat's true identity: an organ critical to our health. In this episode, Dr. Sylvia Tara reveals the inspiration behind her fat research. We usually think fat is simply storing calories. What most people don't know is that fat serves many purposes. Also, there are different types of fats. We dive into everything you need to know about fat, including what's vital about leptin and adiponectin. Later, we discuss the difference between men and women when it comes to fat loss. Plus, we talk about which types of exercises will be critical on your health journey. / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [00:30] About Dr. Sylvia Tara Sylvia gains weight really easily. Her whole life, she watches people eat whatever they feel like, drink whatever they want, and not gain any weight. So, Dr. Sylvia decided to understand fat once and for all. She went on a big expedition to really understand fat. She wanted to know why she would gain fat easier than other people. The Secret Life of Fat is based on all this research! We think of fat as storage for calories; however, it’s so much more than that. [02:25] What Is Fat? Fat is a complex endocrine organ that has multiple functions: Storing calories. Producing leptin – which has a great effect on our brains, our bones, and multiple organs. Creating adiponectin – which has a lot of impact on where our fat is stored. [03:25] What You Need to Know About Leptin Our fat produces this hormone called leptin. It's the biggest producer of leptin in the body, and fat releases it into the bloodstream. Once leptin goes to the bloodstream, it goes to your brain; it'll tell your brain that you’re overall satisfied. Basically, the brain will know that you are good, there's enough nutrition in the world, and you are okay. Leptin will also communicate with your muscles. It tells your muscles that it's okay to expend energy because you have enough nutrition. When we start to lose fat and begin to lose weight, say 10% or more, we reduce the amount of leptin we have. So, people who've lost 10% or more of their body weight respond enormously to food. Overall, once you've lost weight, you have to eat less than someone who's at that weight normally. It is why diets don’t work! [07:15] The Role of Adiponectin Adiponectin is more or less telling fat where to go. When we have dietary fat, adiponectin will guide the fat in our bloodstream to the right parts of our body. So there's different kinds of fat, there's white fat. It's right under the skin, it's in your thighs, buttocks, arms, and it's actually the safest places to deposit fat. If you're going to have some fat, those are the places to put it. There's also visceral fat; it sits underneath the stomach wall. It is the more dangerous fat that's nestled against the internal pancreas organ. There's brown fat – it burns calories instead of storing calories. Plus, there is beige fat – it that can turn brown when we exercise. Overall, adiponectin will help guide the fat you eat and put it into the right place. [09:20] How Exercise Can Help Adiponectin It’s around 20 hours of jogging a week to get adequate levels of adiponectin. That is when your body will start to shift around where your fat is. High-intensity interval training will also help raise your levels of adiponectin. You have to exercise a lot before it starts to affect you. It's best to work with your diet and do some exercise. Don't rely on exercise alone! [11:10] How To Get More Brown Fat Brown fat is actually used to create heat. We have brown fat around our heart; we have it around the clavicle areas and our spines. Having brown fat around those important areas is critical. These areas need to be heated even when we don't have exposure to cold. Beige fat, which was discovered last decade, is the fat that can turn brown through exercise. The more you exercise, the more you can increase your levels of brown fat. Exposure to cold will also increase your brown fat. [13:45] Women Produce 33% More Ghrelin Than Men After Exercise Women are designed just to have more fat. There a

Dr Jeff Matheson | Why the quality of your fats on keto matter! KKP: 237
Today, I am blessed to have here with me for the THIRD time Dr. Jeff Matheson. He is the co-founder of an all-natural migraine and headache centre, which promotes a non-narcotic approach to pain and headache management. Plus, Dr. Jeff Matheson is the co-founder and medical director of Pure Life Science. Dr. Jeff Matheson successfully practiced medicine in emergency departments across Canada and internationally, from Ontario, Newfoundland, and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. He later was appointed Medical Director of Med-EmergInc in 1998, a company dedicated to staffing underserved hospitals in Canada. Dr. Matheson has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia and well as Oceania. According to Dr. Matheson, “traveling is the best education!” Dr. Matheson is an enthusiastic believer, as well as being immersed in other cultures. Similarly, if one does not listen to patients, one won’t hear what is necessary to understand the patient’s problem, i.e., the patient’s “culture.” It is with this ability to listen and empathize with the patients that Dr. Matheson allows an accurate diagnosis and develop sustainable solutions, optimizing health, and patient outcomes. If a solution cannot be determined, resources will be dedicated, through the involvement of alternative care specialists, ascertaining the best possible treatment for the patient by trying to treat causes, not just manage symptoms. In this episode, Dr. Jeff Matheson dives straight into how our body will produce energy through our cell membranes. If someone lacks energy, they usually think they have a hormone problem, meaning they need to take more hormones. However, that's not the case. Dr. Jeff Matheson explains how our hormones require a delicate balance; adding exogenous hormones will push our bodies out of balance. Instead, think about making different nutritional decisions to fix any hormone irregularities. Later, we discuss why keto and fasting are great for our cells and why fish oils aren't so great for them. Tune in as we chat all about Pure Life Omegas. Pure Form Omega: https://purelifescience.com/products/pure-form-omega-natural (Use code: Ben4) Pure Form Omega Liquid: https://purelifescience.com/products/pure-form-omega-liquid (Use code: Ben3) [01:15] How Our Body Will Produce Energy We're made up of about 70 trillion cells. Our body is great at communication, not only within each organ but between organs. All this communication is done through the cell membranes. The cell membrane is the basic divide between the outside world and the inside world – that’s where the fundamental communication takes place. All hormonal issues boil down to unhealthy cell membranes. [03:45] Hormones Aren’t That Simple Hormones need a delicate balance. If you start adding exogenous hormones into the system, you're going to push that system out of balance. How adding exogenous hormones into your body will affect you later on down the road is really difficult to predict. The whole hormonal cascade is extremely complex. When people correct their underlying nutritional issues, usually within six to nine months, they should be able to come off all exogenous hormones. [06:25] Bad Things That Develop In Our Cells The problem that will affect people first is mitochondrial issues. The mitochondria is a very high-energy place, it's supposed to produce lots of energy, but it can be screwed up fairly easily. The first thing that people feel is fatigue - that's that mitochondria sort of breaking down. Later down the road, genetic issues will show up, and that’s when you start getting cancers. [09:15] Why Your Supplements Might Not Be Working If you have an unhealthy cell membrane, things can't get in. On average, the cell membrane is 50% fat. If you have abnormal fats in that cell membrane, that membrane becomes more like plastic. When you put plastic wrap on something, not a lot of stuff gets through. So, you won't be able to get good things in very efficiently, and you won't be able to get the bad things out very efficiently. It's only a matter of time in that kind of situation until you have a total cell breakdown. [14:30] How Keto & Fasting Help Support The Cell Membrane The brain is about 70% fat – it operates on keto about seven to eleven times more efficiently than on carbohydrates. Fat-based energy production is way more efficient. Every single one of our ancestors did keto because their environment forced them into it. Once you achieve metabolic freedom and flexibility, your body can actually manufacture glucose from the fat and from protein. [18:20] Is Omega-6 Bad For You? Omega-6 isn’t bad for you; processed omega-6 is bad for you. Omega-6 has the same oxygen-binding capacity as hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is also intimately bound to the cell membrane; so, they work well together. After people take the proper amount of omega-6, they feel better. Plus, they will be able to feel it fast. With a 24 hour fast, MIT research shows you can reboot your digestive system with stem cells. According to research from MIT biologists, this age-related loss of stem cell function can be reversed by a 24-hour fast. The researchers found that fasting dramatically improves stem cells’ ability to regenerate, in both aged and young mice. “Fasting has many effects in the intestine, which include boosting regeneration as well as potential uses in any type of ailment that impinges on the intestine, such as infections or cancers,” said Omer Yilmaz, an MIT assistant professor of biology, a member of the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, and one of the senior authors of the study. Dr Stephanie Estima | Keto for women: how to make it work! KKP: 235
Today, I am blessed to have here with me a big-hearted chiropractor with a special interest in functional neurology, brain optimization, and weight loss, Dr. Stephanie Estima. Dr. Stephanie Estima studied Neuroscience and Psychology before becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. She has been in private practice for 16 years where she is helps people achieve extraordinary health at her Toronto clinic -The Health Loft. Also, she is the host of Better with Dr. Stephanie. This show is for high performing women who want to have BETTER bodies, BETTER minds, BETTER relationships, BETTER sex, and BETTER families. Dr. Stephanie loves taking the complex science and making it easy to integrate into daily life. Every week she gives people access to world class scientists, medical doctors, plastic surgeons, professional athletes, Olympic athletes, Hollywood actors, parenting coaches, sex experts and psychologists. Dr. Stephanie is always looking to answer this question: what are the simplest things we can do today, to get better tomorrow? She is part geek, part magic, and it’s her mission to be the voice for women...Let’s get better together. In this episode, Dr. Stephanie Estima opens the show by explaining how she discovered that keto cycling could benefit your menstrual cycle. Period symptoms should not be considered normal. Instead, we should think of them as warning signs that our body needs something. Every symptom can be a vital sign of something more profound and more significant. Then, Dr. Stephanie dives deep into the menstrual cycle. She explains what you should be eating during each part of your cycle. Tune in as we talk about tracking your cycle and what happens in the menopausal stage of life. / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off [00:50] About Dr. Stephanie Estima Stephanie started in the keto space interested in the effects the diet can have on the brain and clarity of thought. So, Dr. Stephanie tried keto along with her patients. When couples did it together, the male partner would always have significant weight loss. While on the other hand, the female partner would see little weight loss despite eating the same type of diet. Personally, Dr. Stephanie enjoyed her focus and productivity. However, in the background, she was dealing with a lot of menstrual issues. At one point, Dr. Stephanie had a period and it actually went well. She realized that keto cycling could be beneficial for your menstrual cycle. Now, she loves getting her period! [06:45] What Your Period Says About Your Health “Your period is the lasso of truth.” -Dr. Stephanie Stephanie says that your menstrual cycle is going to tell you about the hormonal status of your body. The menstrual cycle is a vital sign for women. If you have heavy bleeding, clotting, and sleep disturbances – then those are signs that your body is trying to tell you things are not balanced. Women need to stop looking at their symptoms as punishment. Instead, women should listen to their bodies. Thick hair could mean too much testosterone. You want to identify common patterns that happen as it relates to hormonal dysfunction. [11:05] About The Betty Body Stephanie’s new book is called The Betty Body. You can order it here: https://amzn.to/2ZfwTOh In the book, Stephanie dives into why women should stop dieting and take control of their hormones to feel amazing in their skin. A Betty epitomizes a modern-day queen, commonly associated with increased levels of self-worth (because she continues to create it). Stephanie likes to think about how to play the long game with women. In the book, she talks about how sex and orgasms are important things for women to think about. It improves all our vital signs, and most importantly, is a vehicle for self-healing. [15:45] Diving Into The Menstrual Cycle Week 1: When we think about the first week of our cycle, it’s the bleed week. Most hormones have gone on vacation during this time. FHS is still around (follicle-stimulating hormone). One lucky egg will be developed. So, it’s a wonderful week for vegetables. The first two weeks of your cycle are all about developing your follicle – you will be more resilient to restrict carbohydrates. It’s a nice week for fasting because we don’t have progesterone. Week 2: After the bleed week and into the second week, it’s the week before ovulation. Ovulation is the main event – it’s the whole point of your menstrual cycle. Whether or not you want a child, that’s what your body wants to do. In this week, we see estrogen. Estrogen is designed for growth because we want to develop the follicle. The other hormone that comes up is testosterone. In this week, your interest in sex should go up. Week 3: Week three happens after your ovulation. Now, your egg can hang around and wait for sperm. The entire hormonal la

Dr. Mindy also gives fasting tips for women who are in their post-menopausal phase of life. Later, Dr. Mindy goes deep into the six different stages of fasting. However, we need to honor our hormones, specifically our sex hormones. Men’s testosterone will come every couple of hours. Women get testosterone once a month. So, we have to fast very differently. The Fasting Circle will help women navigate the fasting experience. Fasting is powerful; we have to do it thoughtfully. [06:30] The Dangers Of Fasting Too Much The first danger is progesterone. You make the most progesterone around day twenty of your cycle. If you are in a low-glycemic state, then it won’t make progesterone very proficient. Fasts will cause cortisol – it’s fine during the front half of the cycle. When you need to make progesterone, you don’t want that stress. So, step out of fasting around day twenty of your cycle. During this time, you should slow life down and relax. You want to honor that your body is trying to make progesterone. Make yourself insulin resistant from day one to day ten of your period. You want to go keto and make yourself insulin resistant during this time. Use keto and fasting during this time (totally opposite of day twenty). [11:50] Fasting For Post-Menopausal Women If you are over forty, you have an organ that is shutting down (your ovaries). No other time in your life will you have an organ shutting down. Your ovaries will make hormones. Well, your body still has to make it so your adrenal glands will take over. We are not made to be permanent fat burners. We are made for metabolic switching. As women get on the other side of menopause, we have to build our hormones back up. [16:20] About The 5-1-1 Rule 5 days of fasting and keto. 1 day of an extended fast (24 hours). 1 day a week of no fasting. Instead, you should be feasting. We are meant for metabolic switching; we are not meant to be permanent fat burners. Women need to go into hormone building times. That’s when we can lean into foods likes squashes, beans, and quinoa. Women should feel free to move in and out of ketosis. [20:15] The Six Styles Of Fasting There are six styles of fasting: Intermittent Fast: 13 – 15 hours. Autophagy Fast: 17 hours. This is when autophagy kicks in. So, the cells start to understand that it needs to clean up their act. It’s great for detox! Gut Reset: 24 hours. This is an incredible fast for people with gut dysbiosis. Fat Burner Fast: 36 hours. You will access toxins and breakdown fat more efficiently at 36 hours. Dopamine Reset: 48 hours. We lose our sensitivity to dopamine over time. We are getting way too much dopamine. For instance, we can order food, binge watch TV, and scroll through social media. Eating all day long will make it so that our dopamine receptor sites are getting blocked. So, we need to make ourselves more sensitive. Immunity Fast: 72 hours. This fast will reboot stem cells – especially when it comes to white blood cells. It has been known as a way to kill cancer cells. [45:00] Fats That Make It

Vivica Menegaz |The best and worst foods for your body KKP: 233
Today, I am blessed to have here with me a certified whole-food nutritionist, blogger, published author, and one of the leading voices advocating for a food-based approach to healing, Vivica Menegaz. Vivica was the first to use the now popular expression “Keto Paleo” to describe her lifestyle and eating habits. She is the founder of the “The Healing Foods Method’ – a 14-week online nutrition program where she works 1-on-1 with clients to turn their health around utilizing a therapeutic ketogenic diet for healing (keto paleo). Tracing back to her Italian origins, Vivica is a passionate cook whose love of healing food has been shared with millions through her blog, “The Nourished Caveman.” While living in Northern California, pursuing her self-sufficiency dreams and practice of nutrition, Vivica’s life came to a turning point when she discovered she was pre-diabetic. The nourishing Paleo foods she had been advocating are not the whole solution to modern health problems. Fueled by this discovery, Vivica dove into research and found the ketogenic diet. It was love at the first bite. Within the first couple of months, her blood glucose levels dropped, she shed excess weight, her brain fog cleared up, and her energy levels skyrocketed. After a year of successful keto paleo lifestyle, Vivica’s own health journey took another turn as she was now diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism. Again she had to rely on her studies and practical applications to resolve those challenges, and that is how she became the first holistic nutritionist to successfully utilize a ketogenic approach as the foundation to endocrine rebalancing. She has made it her mission to help others reclaim their health and quality of life. Vivica is also the author of three cookbooks: “The Ultimate Paleo Cookbook” 2015, together with nine other bloggers, and “The Big Book Of Fat Bombs” in 2016. Her latest book: “The Keto Paleo Kitchen,” was released in December 2017. In this episode, Vivica Menegaz dives deep into her roots and how she grew up eating only the best and fresh meats. Then, Vivica reveals what the media has wrong about Covid. Why aren’t we talking about the immune system, the gut, and getting out in nature? That’s what will actually help you overcome this virus – we aren’t going to get rid of it! Then, Vivica explains how your healing journey may lead you to ayahuasca. Plus, we chat about how Vivica found the keto lifestyle, and we talk all about Vivica’s cookbooks. / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off [00:35] About Vivica Menegaz Growing up, Vivica ate loads of fresh meat. As she traveled the world, Vivica would explore local and native foods. Vivica was following her dreams of practicing nutrition. However, she discovered that she was pre-diabetic. After working with Dr. Deborah Penner, her mentor, she was first introduced to a ketogenic diet when only a handful of people were writing or talking about it. Vivica’s therapeutic approach to food, lifestyle, and supplementation, utilizes the healing power of nutrition and mindset to address the incapacitating symptoms of many lifestyle-diseases that have plagued our modern lives. [10:15] Wrapping Our Heads Around Covid There is so much misinformation about Covid. As a practitioner, Vivica is looking for trustworthy resources. However, there’s not a lot out there! Finally, we understand how Covid makes people sick and who it makes sick. There are levels of sickness that we cannot treat as nutritionists. Eventually, people will need to go to a hospital. However, most people will benefit from nutritionists. A person with an intact immune system whose microbiome has resilience will not be affected by the ‘dangerous’ virus. In order for the virus to be dangerous, there needs to be microcirculation problems and metabolism issues. These conditions are making all the difference. Covid could actually benefit you by making your body stronger. A small percentage of people need to be quarantined, but that’s not the majority of us! The real virus is FEAR. [17:20] Using Plants To Heal Ayahuasca is the main plant that Vivica uses to heal. Practicing as a nutritionist, people would just heal from diet changes. However, some people would do everything right but they wouldn’t heal. It would drive Vivica insane! She wants all her patients to get better and heal everything. When they don’t heal correctly, Vivica takes it personally. Now, Vivica likes to find the deep cause of diseases. Her goal is to have as holistic practice where she can treat people as fully human. [22:10] Diving Into The Keto Lifestyle Seven years ago, when you said ketosis, people had no idea what you were talking about. Ketosis is the opposite of insulin resistance, so Vivica knew she needed to be in ketosis. You could say Vivica wa

A great boost metabolism workout consists of squats, push ups, burpees, shoulder press and other compound movement. Research examining the effects of HIIE has produced preliminary evidence to suggest that HIIE can result in modest reductions in subcutaneous and abdominal body fat in young normal weight and slightly overweight males and females. Studies using overweight male and female type 2 diabetic individuals have shown greater reductions in subcutaneous and abdominal fat. The mechanisms underlying the fat reduction induced by HIIE, however, are undetermined but may include HIIE-induced fat oxidation during and after exercise and suppressed appetite. Regular HIIE has been shown to significantly increase both aerobic and anaerobic fitness and HIIE also significantly lowers insulin resistance and results in increases in skeletal muscle capacity for fatty acid oxidation and glycolytic enzyme content. Study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... The second that will teach you how to boost metabolism is with intermittent fasting. Skipping a meal does not slow down your metabolism, it does the complete opposite! This study showed a 13% increase in the metabolic rate after 4 days of fasting. https://thefastingmethod.com/fix-brok... Practice an 18/6 daily schedule with two meals inside your 6 hour eating window. The method for teaching you how to speed up metabolism is quality sleep. Most of your fat burning hormones are activated during delta sleep. This study showed sleep curtailment decreased the fraction of weight lost as fat by 55% (1.4 vs. 0.6 kg with 8.5 vs. 5.5-h sleep opportunity, P=0.043) and increased the loss of fat-free body mass by 60% (1.5 vs. 2.4 kg, P=0.002). This was accompanied by markers of enhanced neuroendocrine adaptation to caloric restriction, increased hunger, and a shift in relative substrate utilization towards oxidation of less fat. Get at least 8 hours of quality sleep each night. Visit http://www.ketokampkit.com to check out my favorite sleep resources for weight loss. The fourth way to increase metabolism is with keto flexing. The keto diet consists of metabolism boosting foods which keep your fat storage hormone insulin low. Alcohol is a poison to the body, the liver needs to detox it. The worst offenders are beer and wine. According to Dr Zach Bush, the avg California wine has 64 herbicides & pesticides. According to Maria Emmerich's research, “Alcohol stimulates appetite and decrease your testosterone levels for up to 24 hours and increases estrogen by 300%. The infamous “beer belly” is really just an “estrogen belly.” Biochemically, the higher your level of estrogen is, the more readily you absorb alcohol, but the slower you break it down.” https://mariamindbodyhealth.com/how-t... Reed Davis | How to identify healing opportunities KKP: 231
Today, I am blessed to have here an expert in pathogens, food sensitivity testing, and a wide range of related health problems, Reed Davis. Over 20 years ago, Reed recognized people were caught in a “cycle of trial and error,” and he committed to being the last person they needed to see. While working with top leaders in alternative medicine, he ran thousands of labs on thousands of people and learned to identify “healing opportunities.” Using all-natural, drug-free protocols, Reed made observations about who got better and who didn’t, codifying which “general principles of health building” would outperform “specific treatments” being provided by standard and even alternative medicine. And through this work, he then developed the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Certification Course and D.R.E.S.S. for Health Success Protocol® to educate and empower as many people as possible about how to get well and stay well naturally, so they, in turn, may empower others to do the same. Using his experience as an Environmental Paralegal, training as a Certified Nutritional Therapist and Fitness Coach, he served as the Health Director and Case Manager at the Better Health & Wellness Center in Poway, California for over 10 years. Reed’s experience in these areas served as the foundation for the development of the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Course, where he has taught nearly 3,000 FDN trainees and graduates in over 50 countries. In this episode, Reed Davis opens the show describing the inspiration behind his career in the health coaching industry. Reed likes to educate people on how to become their own health detective. A massive mistake that health detectives make is that they only run one test based on their symptoms. Instead, we should be running multiple tests to finding the root cause of our symptoms. Plus, we talk about Reed's favorite hormone tests, and Reed reveals the truth behind adrenal fatigue. Work with Ben Azadi, Dr Daniel Pompa, & Dr Mindy Pelz & other detox specialist: http://www.ketokampdetox.com [00:30] About Reed Davis Reed worked as an Environmental Paralegal. When he saw how bad the environment was, he wondered what was going on with the people living in this environment. So, he turned his attention less on the planet and more on humans. Working at a clinic, Reed fell in love with working on patients. Eventually, Reed learned how to do labs, and he fell even more in love with the clinical side of work. Now, Reed has at home programs. However, Reed is not a physician, so he has to be careful not to diagnose people. Yet, he can still help people by giving them things to do at home. [10:30] The Mistake Health Detectives Are Making Health detectives often only run one test based on their symptoms. For instance, if you only run a thyroid test, then you could be missing something even more significant. Reed thinks health detectives should be looking at all factors and healing opportunities. There isn’t just one cause; instead, there are going to be a bunch of causes. [16:20] Reed’s Favorite Hormone Tests For hormones, Reed Davis likes to measure cortisol. Cortisol doesn’t work well with blood. No one is going to draw their blood four different times during the day. So, he wants to do something convenient like saliva and urine. Whatever information they get, then they can create benchmarks. Down the road, that person can retest, and they will see how their hormones change. When people are compliant, they get results! When someone has a health complaint, they go to the doctor and get standard blood work done. However, standard blood work doesn’t say much about the person. Plus, the doctor will try and fix the symptoms rather than finding the cause. [22:30] The Truth Behind Adrenal Fatigue Adrenals aren’t getting tired; they are getting the signals mixed up. There are four different layers behind the adrenals that produce different substances. Cortisol is produced in the adrenals. When you are stressed, then you should have cortisol. That way, there is power for fight or flight. The adrenals will get messages from the brain. Adrenals are very sensitive, and the environment can mess with them. For instance, fasting is part of many religions and has been around since humans have existed. Dr. Jockers dives deep into fasting and explains how fasting will help you lose weight, the benefits of autophagy, and why you may want to switch from cow dairy to sheep or goat dairy. Plus, we speak about the importance of fasting for our digestive systems. / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off Text me the words KKP +1 (786) 364-5002 90 Detox Program with Ben Azadi, Dr Daniel Pompa, Dr Mindy Pelz: http://www.ketokampdetox.com [01:00] About The Fasting Transformation Jockers wanted to write a book about the transformational power of fasting. Sadly, our society is metabolically damaged, causing us to be sick, exhausted, and overweight. Luckily, fasting is the most ancient, inexpensive, and most powerful healing strategy known to humankind. There are key strategies you need to know when it comes to fasting. People need to be aware of everything when it comes to fasting in order to have success. Every person on the planet should be fasting (unless you’re pregnant, a young child, or an elite athlete). Fasting once a week will reduce metabolic disease massively. [02:25] Favorite Fasting Facts Fasting is part of many religions. Spiritual people will practice fasting when they have challenges or when they have significant decisions that they need to make. Also, fasting is some of the best medicine. Throughout history, people have done fasting to hear from God, have greater levels of creativity, and achieve a higher level mentally. Fasting isn’t a fad; it has been around since humans have existed. [04:35] Will Fasting Help You Lose Weight? When you fast, your insulin goes down. When insulin is high, it tells all the other hormones to stop burning fat. That way, your body can focus on burning sugar. Plus, your body will increase inflammation. Throughout history, systemic infections have killed more people than anything else. So, the body created an inflammatory process to protect us against systemic infections. Overall, the body creates inflammation in case your body needs to protect itself. To burn fat, we need periods of time where insulin is really low. The best way to do that is not to eat at all. If we want more advanced weight loss, we may take a few days to keep insulin down by doing a five-day fast. [12:00] What Is Causing Your Insulin To Increase Unfortunately, stress could be a massive contributor to insulin levels. Poor sleep will also contribute to cortisol. Which will increase insulin levels. Cortisol inhibits insulin production to prevent glucose from being stored. Plus, if you drink too much caffeine, that could be an issue. Eating a lot of carbs can be a factor in your insulin increase. However, every time you eat anything, there will be a small increase. [19:10] Switching From Cow Dairy To Sheep Or Goat Dairy If you react to casein in dairy, then you may need to switch to sheep or goat dairy. Many people can tolerate sheep or goat dairy. If you think you have a sensitivity to cow dairy, then try and switch out your products. Test it out for a month and see if you feel any better. Everyone should take dairy out of their diet for one month of the year. That way, you can see if you notice a difference. [20:15] How

Keto Savage Robert Sikes | This is how you build muscle on the keto diet KKP: 227
Today, I am blessed to have here with me a lifetime natural competitive bodybuilder, Robert Orion Sikes. Robert started Keto Savage to help motivate and educate others about the importance of following your passions and getting the results you want. Robert wakes up early, he works his A@$ off, and he sees results. Robert is no different than you; any success he has experienced this far is attainable for anybody willing to put in the work. We live in an era where everything is automatic, everything is superficial, and everything is expected for nothing. That life does not create greatness; it destroys it. The Keto Savage site will empower those who crave intensity, dedication, discipline, hard work, and sacrifice. In this episode, Robert Orion Sikes reveals the inspiration behind his brand, Keto Savage. As one of the first keto bodybuilders, Robert knew he needed to document his journey. Robert has been in ketosis for six years; he explains how he stays so disciplined. When you love what you do, it’s easy to say disciplined. So, learn how to love keto foods and to do amazing things for your body. Tune in as we speak about Robert’s Keto Brick, how to break a plateau, and we talk about big tech censorship. / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off [00:30] About Robert Orion Sikes As a bodybuilder, Robert was shredded, but he sacrificed his health. He developed eating disorders that left him in a dark place. Plus, Robert fell into a deep debt; he got depressed and suicidal. So, Robert tried keto. His cravings went away, and he felt much better. Everyone at the gym would tell Robert that he couldn’t get big on carbs. However, Robert went fully keto, and he still competed as a bodybuilder. Robert has looked back since. [05:45] How Robert Will Stay Disciplined The secret to Robert’s discipline is loving the process. You can’t become a bodybuilder overnight; it takes years and years of weightlifting. The more you work at something, the better you get. Bodybuilding involves an obsessive amount of discipline. As long as you embrace it, then you will find success. [07:45] What To Know When Starting Keto Know your “why” and understand what drives you. Also, knowing your “why” will help if you have a long-term view of what you want to accomplish. That way, you’ll be excited about what you do every single day. Getting healthy isn’t a good enough “why.” Instead, your “why” should be about the people in your life. You owe it to your family to stay healthy. [11:50] About The Keto Brick The Keto Brick sold out in two minutes. The bricks are great for backpacking, hunting, and running. The brick is 1,000 calories with 90 grams of fat. Every ingredient has the purpose of optimizing your performance. The momentum and support for Robert’s Keto Bricks keep coming. Keto products should not have seed oils or any sweeteners. If there are more protein and carbs than fat, then that isn’t keto. Get Keto Bricks: https://www.ketobrick.com [19:15] Building Muscle On Keto If you are implementing progressive overload and increasing your training, you will build muscle in the context of being in a caloric surplus. Fuel your growth through adequate calories. Within eight days, Robert will hit each muscle group twice. Robert doesn’t do a ton of cardio. He likes to run as a meditative type of exercise. If you’re doing cardio, do it after your strength training. Use it as a cool down rather than a warmup. [24:00] How To Break A Plateau Many women chronically undereat. Their metabolic baseline has been so down-regulated that there’s not much room for them to improve. So, women need to upregulate their metabolism. Trying a calorie surplus will help upregulate your metabolism. When you have a calorie surplus, that doesn’t mean you can eat whatever you want. Having a cheat meal will have negative psychological effects. Instead, focus on desiring things that will improve your wellbeing. Keto flexing will help your good cells get stronger. [33:20] About Big Tech Censorship Robert is doubling-down on his own website. He is revamping the entire website so big tech will not censor his macro content. That way, he won’t have to rely on social platforms to be his end-all be-all. AND MUCH MORE! Barton Scott | How to replenish electrolytes and minerals on the keto diet KKP: 226
Today, I am blessed to have here with me, Founder of Upgraded Formulas and a Chemical Engineer, Barton Scott. Barton always had sharp cognitive function, but he began to suffer memory loss and mental fatigue. How could this be, at such an early age? To make matters worse, tragedy struck at the same time, when he unfortunately lost his mother. After taking many supplements during this time frame, nothing was working. Faced with adversity and looming health issues, this is when he decided that he must pursue solutions. He grew frustrated with how mineral supplements lacked effectiveness and absorption into the body rendering most products in the market useless. He set out to fix the problem, using his background in Chemical Engineering and experience as a nutritionist, he was able to identify the issues with the current offerings and applied a solution based on sound science. Through research, and many trials and errors, he realized if you could get mineral particles small enough to absorb into our cells, that was going to be the winning formula for effectiveness. That's where he applied nanotechnology to minerals, and developed a solution that makes the minerals we sell today completely bioavailable - the impact of which we can see during our testing protocols. It was then that he set out to create what today is Upgraded Formulas, founded with maximum bioavailability and measurable absorption to ensure you are getting results. In this episode, Barton Scott opens the show explaining the inspiration behind his company, Upgraded Formulas. Unfortunately, typical supplements and our food isn’t enough to get all of our minerals. Barton came up with a better way: highly-effective dietary supplements that are absorbed better by the body than any other products. Plus, Barton created a hair test that is ideal for determining your heavy metal toxicity and mineral deficiencies. Tune in as we talk about the importance of testing, which minerals will be helpful with keto, and Barton speaks about his 11-day water fast. Minerals and heavy metals are a critical thing to focus on to optimize health. Every day, Barton would take 600 mg of magnesium every day – unfortunately, he just wasn’t absorbing the minerals. Barton created a new category of supplementation called Nano Minerals to increase healthspan, focus, sleep quality and slow down accelerated aging. His mission is to support you by creating, highly-effective dietary supplements that are absorbed better by the body than any other products. [10:20] Getting All Of Our Minerals From Food Unfortunately, our food isn’t enough to get all of our minerals. We all have some level of gut disfunction. So, we shouldn’t be surprised that our guts are not efficient systems. The environment is not perfect either in terms of efficiency. As life goes on, we have less and less nutrition in our food. Topsoil is depleted; therefore, there are fewer nutrients in our foods. [13:10] About Barton’s Hair Testing Kit Say goodbye to blood draws and urine tests. You don’t need to go to the doctor anymore to take care of your body properly. They test for key minerals, heavy metals, and understanding your metabolism. The kit is super easy to use; you collect the hair sample, send it in, then you receive fast test results! Get the hair test kit: https://www.upgradedformulas.com/products/hair-kit-test For a discount: (use code: ketokamp) [20:30] Keto, Fasting, And Your Mineral Levels When people are fasting poorly, their mineral levels are going to be low. People are trying so hard to be healthy, but they just aren’t seeing results. The perfect diet and fasting will not get you well; instead, it’s just part of the equation. When you are eating a high-carb diet, you retain a lot of water weight. On keto, you will release a lot of excess water weight. If you don’t have a plan in place, you might get brain fog, short-term memory loss, and other issues. [23:30] Test, Don’t Guess When starting keto, Barton says you should test instead of guessing what you need to do. People will take one test, then make some changes and not understand why it’s not working. That’s why it’s essential to have a consultation with an expert. Another mistake people make is not taking another test after making changes. You have to know what’s happening in the body before you make effective changes. [28:45] Upgraded Formulas That Will Help On Your Keto Journey Magnesium and potassium are two supplements that will help on your keto journey. Take ma

Junaid Kalmadi | Are green juices actually healthy for you? KKP: 225
Today, I am blessed to have here with me the founder and CEO of Farmers Juice, Junaid Kalmadi. Farms are the lifeblood of a healthy food ecosystem. Farmers Juice partners with a network of trusted local farmers to source only the highest quality ingredients. Their sourcing is organic (year-round when available) from family farms in California. In this episode, Junaid Kalmadi speaks about his journey to opening Farmers Juice. They separate themselves from other juice companies because Farmers Juice focuses on local farms, they donate some of their proceeds to Kiss The Ground, and they have keto-friendly juices. 2020 has been a challenging year; it’s time that we focus on self-care and self-love. One way to practice self-care is through giving our body the nutrition it needs. Tune in as we talk about the misconceptions of cold-pressed and the benefits of juice on our mental health. If you want to be in ketosis and check out the juices, you can do it here using code “ketokamp” https://thefarmersjuice.com/ketokamp. / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off [00:25] About Junaid Kalmadi At college, Junaid gained forty pounds. Throughout college, his cognitive performance was down. No one would hire him after he graduated! So, Junaid started his own business out of necessity. Even though his business was up and running, Junaid had anxiety and depression. He got the dream but still felt like crap. Three years ago, Junaid took six months off to focus on being healthy. He started meditating every day, fasting, and keto. He lost twenty pounds and felt amazing. Eventually, Junaid began to introduce cold-pressed juices into his diet. Junaid’s juice journey led him to start Farmers Juice: (code: ketokamp) https://thefarmersjuice.com/ketokamp. [09:15] The Logistics Behind Farmers Juice Farmers Juice will deliver nationwide to the 48 states. In terms of the process, the first step is the plant lifecycle. There is a time where plants have peak nutrition. They catch the plants during that time and juice it then and there. Farmers Juice will use a lot of ugly produce that wouldn’t get placed in Whole Foods. Once they juice the plants, then they use an innovative technology that introduces cold water and high pressure from every angle. That pressure will neutralize all the negative pathogens and maintain the integrity of the juice for thirty days. [11:45] Keeping Farmers Juice In Your Fridge After you open the juice, drink it within three days. If you have no intention to drink the juice, don’t open it. If the juice hasn’t been opened, it will last thirty days in your fridge. [12:30] The Misconceptions Behind Cold-Pressed Most companies do not take the level of attention to make sure the plants are organic. Many juice companies are not organic because it’s more affordable. Farmers Juice will take the extra step to make sure it’s organic. Most juices are anywhere between eight and twelve dollars. Farmers Juice is $5.99 per juice. Lastly, most juices are high in sugar. Junaid has created keto-friendly juices working with Dave Asprey. [16:30] About Junaid’s Juices The Greens Only box of juices is ketogenic and low glycemic. It includes 20 organic cold-pressed juices and ten shots. Many of the juices contain cucumber, dino kale, lemon, and ginger. All of the juices will give you a good energy boost. [23:10] The Benefits Of Juice On Mental Health It’s critical to love yourself and take care of yourself. One of the best ways to do that is to have healthy habits. Work on appreciating yourself through nutrition. When you have fast food, it changes how you felt for the rest of the day. When you eat something good, you notice it more, and you feel the momentum in your health journey. Think about what else you can do to expand your wellbeing, like drinking juice! AND MUCH MORE! Does too much protein kick you out of ketosis? The role electrolytes play with getting into ketosis fast. Why toxins might be the reason why you can’t get into ketosis. 02:00 The first reason why you aren’t in ketosis… too many carbohydrates. If you’ve wondered how many carbs you should eat to get into ketosis, you’ll find the answer here. Keep an eye out for carbohydrate creep. It’s important to read the ingredients list. Some people need to drop total carbohydrates to under 20 grams in order to achieve ketosis. 03:15 The second reason why you aren’t producing ketones… a process called electrolyte dumping. When your body transitions away from being a sugar burner to a fat burner, it releases excess water. When you don’t replenish electrolytes on keto, this can result in common symptoms when doing keto such as brain fog, the keto flu, and not feeling good on the keto diet. Consume 1-2 teaspoons of high quality salt. I use Redmond’s Real Salt: Here are other ways to replenish your electrolytes and minerals on the ketogenic diet… Real Salt: https://bit.ly/38NsoPi use the coupon code azadi for 10% off Re-Lyte Electrolyte Powder: https://bit.ly/3rJTsYf coupon code azadi 10% off MicroDaily: https://bit.ly/3rIGV7x 06:48 The third reason why your ketones are low… you might be fasting too much. Can you practice intermittent fasting with the keto diet? Yes, they go hand in hand. However, fasting is a muscle you want to develop over time. 08:35 The number four reason why you can’t get into ketosis on keto…. Poor sleep and too much stress. Yes, too much stress will kick you out of ketosis. When cortisol is high, glucose follows and ketones drop. Sleep deprivation and higher cortisol and insulin https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/sleep-deprivation-obesity/ 09:47 Sleep issues on keto? Follow these tips. The Power of Sleep Book: https://amzn.to/3pJGLLz 11:24 The fifth reason why you have low ketones on a ketogenic diet…. Toxins! This is the most common reason why people struggle to get into ketosis, or why you keep getting kicked out of ketosis. This is why you don’t feel good on keto. The Fasting Trio: https://bit.ly/2WKSBrL Free Toxicity Quiz: http://www.toxicmiami.com 15:30 The bonus reason why you can’t stay in ketosis …. Unstable fats such as vegetables oils and fish oil. 18:20 How fish oil is sabotaging your keto results. STUDY: Page 251 in the PEO Solution: "21st Century Warning: 4½ Months to Rid Patients of the Damaging Fish Oil Excess21 It takes 18 weeks to reverse the negative effect of the incorporation of EPA / DHA from fish oil into the cell membrane. This four–month time frame is important to understand, as it coincides precisely with the time frame of significant vascular health improvement, that was accelerated by ceasing fish oil use, as shown in the IOWA screening experiment." 20:20 3 proven ways to get into ketosis fast. MCT’s are 3 fatty acid groups with a glycerol backbone Their metabolization is unique and gives us instant energy 3 types of fats, short chain, medium and long chain C8 Caprylic has been shown to be the most efficient for ketone production MCT’s are not stored as fat, they are used for fuel and converted into ketones immediately Combine C8 with coconut oil to help get the spike in ketones from C8 and the conversion from coconut oil. 15 tips for amazing results on the ketogenic diet - Ben Azadi KKP: 221
In this episode, Ben Azadi reveals 15 tips for mastering the ketogenic diet. Free Keto Masterclass: http://www.ketosismasterclass.com Free Keto Blueprint: http://www.ketokampblueprint.com TIMESTAMPS: 1:14 Overview 01:40 Keto is not a diet. Keto is a metabolic process. Every single one of our ancestors follow the ketogenic diet. Their environment put them in ketosis. 02:35 We are born in ketosis. Babies that are breastfed go in and out of ketosis because breast milk is made of saturated fat and cholesterol. Studies: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15573408/, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15916931/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10652985/ 03:30 How ketosis works inside the body at the cellular level. 06:08 The difference between burning sugar (glucose) and burning fat (ketones). Sugar burners vs fat burners. 06:45 How keto helps to reduce inflammation inside of the body. 07:45 The real cause of weight gain and weight loss resistance. 09:20 The first tip: Focus on health over fat loss. You do not lose weight to be healthy. You get healthy to lose weight. Pay attention to non-scale victories, and get keto blood work done. 11:45 If LDL goes up with keto, get the NMR test to determine the LDL particle sizes. 13:00 The second tip: Electrolyte dumping. Do this to avoid the keto flu, and other common symptoms on the ketogenic diet. Here are my favorite electrolyte & mineral supplements: Redmond’s Real Salt: https://bit.ly/38NsoPi use the coupon code azadi for 10% off Redmond’s Re-Lyte Electrolyte Powder: https://bit.ly/3rJTsYf use the coupon code azadi for 10% off Micro Daily: https://www.microdaily.com/ketokamp/micro-daily 14:45 The third tip: Follow the 2/2/2/2 rule to help your body use fatty acids for fuel instead of glucose. This is a great way to transition into ketosis quickly without any keto side effects. 2 tablespoons of avocado oil or olive oil 2 tablespoons of coconut oil or mct oil 2 tablespoons of grass fed butter or ghee 2 teaspoons of sea salt 15:55 The fourth tip: Consume bitters to help your liver and gallbladder produce bile. Bile acts as a detergent to break down fat. Most people have sluggish bile leading to keto digestive issues such as constipation, diarrhea, and not feeling good on keto. If you don’t have a gallbladder on keto, it can still be done with some considerations. Here is a video on 5 ways to follow the ketogenic diet without a gallbladder: https://youtu.be/Z6nwyhh3Zac 17:07 The best ways to support your liver on keto. Here are my favorite sources of keto bitters to help with keto digestion, and helping you feel better in ketosis. 18:55 The fifth tip: How do you calculate macros on keto? Discover if you should cut calories on the ketogenic diet. 20:30 Why more protein on keto is better. No, consuming protein on keto will not knock you out of a ketosis. Here is a recent video I did debunking common keto protein myths: https://youtu.be/I1o89fSlcAw 21:19 Number six and number seven tip: Gradually decrease carbohydrates on keto to under 50 total grams per day, and stop snacking in between your keto meals. 22:30 How the fat storage hormone insulin causes weight gain even on keto. 23:45 Number eight tip: How to test and measure ketones in the body. Cinnamon. It has an active ingredient called polyphenol; this activates your cell receptor sites and wakes up your cells by allowing glucose to get into the cell. Cinnamon has been used for over 4,000 years. It is high in antioxidants. #7 ORAC score, antioxidant score. cinnamon blood sugar study in type 2 diabetics: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1... Craig Emmerich | Are vegetables actually good for you? How anti-nutrients wreck your gut! KKP: 220
Today, I am blessed to have here with me Craig Emmerich. Craig graduated in Electrical Engineering and has spent the last 15 plus years researching nutrition and working with thousands of clients alongside his wife, Maria Emmerich. He is an international best-selling author of the "Keto: The Complete Guide" and "The Carnivore Cookbook." He uses his knowledge of how our bodies work to help clients heal and lose weight leveraging their biology to make it easy. In this episode, Craig speaks about his journey to the ketogenic lifestyle. Craig explains how plants can negatively impact our guts. Kale and spinach can be some of the most significant irritants to our guts because of their antinutrients. Also, Craig reveals what other plants are chock full of these antinutrients. Later, we speak about the benefits of eating red meats, and we bust the myth that red meat causes cancer. Tune in as Craig tells us how fat loss works from a metabolic standpoint, and we hear about Craig's plans in 2021. // E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off [00:30] About Craig Emmerich Craig is an ex-engineer; it leads him to look at nutrition differently. Craig’s wife, Maria, would make keto meals for the family. On the weekends, Craig would eat whatever he wanted. Craig realized when he ate whatever; he would feel awful. So, to feel better, Craig started eating keto for every meal. Your body is adaptable. If you constantly flood your body with inflammatory foods, then it can deal with it. You won’t notice the incremental pain. When you cut it all out, you get a massive reaction and realize what it's doing to your body. [05:30] How Our Gut Is Affected By Plants Plants can make issues in our bodies worse. Sometimes, it will even cause the issues. Your body wants nutrients. However, antinutrients are compounds that your body does not want. Your body will have to detox these antinutrients. There are thousands of these compounds in plants. Plants don’t want you to eat their leaves because it will kill the plant. Spinach and kale have oxalates in them in high amounts. They will irritate the gut and cause leaky gut. Mainstream media doesn’t discuss these issues with plants. [10:45] Antinutrients Found In A Keto Diet Lectins are a big problem. There are tons of compounds in our foods that can cause problems. Tannins are an antinutrient that is in grapes and wine. You can die if you get too many oxalates. That’s the problem with green smoothies. Plus, there are loads of compounds that we haven’t even studied. When you know the reason for starting a keto lifestyle, then the way you do it can be very different. We have been taught that more vegetables are the way to go, but it’s not always the truth. [17:45] The Benefits of Eating Red Meat As far as red meats go, there is a huge metanalysis that was done last year. It looked at all the available information out there on red meat and cancer. They found that there is no correlation between red meat and cancer. When you eat red meat, there can be amazing improvements to your cardiovascular system. Try out the carnivore diet and see how it works for you. There are loads of vitamins and minerals in red meat. Focus on protein because that will be the best part of your plate. More protein is usually better, especially for people on a keto diet. [24:40] How Fat Loss Works From A Metabolism Standpoint We process protein, fat, and carbs the same. Oxidative priority is how our body will process our fuels. When you eat a meal, you have hundreds of calories flooding the bloodstream. The body has to prioritize how it will use the fuel. The last priority for the body is fat because we have a massive amount of fat storage; it is easy for the body to store fat. Alcohol is the number one priority for the body because you cannot store alcohol. When you eat with alcohol, the body has to deal with the alcohol first. The body doesn’t want to use protein as a fuel; it wants to use it to repair cells. If you cut out alcohols and keep your carbs to a minimum, then fat will be your own variable. Adjust your fat levels based on your goals. Chris Irvin | Shocking benefits of the carnivore diet with The Ketologist KKP: 219
Today, I am blessed to have here with me Chris Irvin, a nutrition researcher, writer, and educator. He holds a master's degree in Exercise and Nutrition Science and is currently the education manager for Perfect Keto. During his time in grad school, Chris began to see the keto industry growing. Chris was in big support of this industry growth because he thinks a robust industry can support good research, but with so many companies coming on the scene just trying to make a buck, Chris became discouraged and kept his distance. After spending a couple of years researching and developing content about keto, Chris decided to start looking more into the keto industry because he wanted to bring more research and education into the industry. Fortunately, Perfect Keto was looking for someone to improve research and education within their company, something they were already doing very well! Chris was already a big fan of Dr. Anthony Gustin and the quality products he was making at Perfect Keto, so it ended up making a great fit. Now Chris focuses on learning and educating the masses on the ketogenic diet through The Ketologist and Perfect Keto! In this episode, Chris Irvin opens the show speaking about his journey to the keto diet and eventually the carnivore diet. First, we talk about how ketosis can actually help you build muscle despite people thinking insulin is required for muscle growth. In fact, ketones can stimulate muscle growth. Later, we dive deep into the carnivore diet. Chris explains how he found the carnivore diet, why the carnivore diet is beneficial for our gut, and if the carnivore diet is sustainable long-term. Tune in as Keto Kamp members join the show to ask Chris questions about supplements and what to pay attention to when trying the carnivore diet. // E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off [02:00] About Chris Irvin Chris found the keto diet at age 24. At grad school, he learned about the benefits of keto from a sports perspective. When Chris tried keto, he didn't feel that great. However, after a few days, Chris started to feel energized. During his research at grad school, Chris got to look at how keto would affect athletic performance. If you want to learn about the therapeutic effects of keto, Chris recommends reading Tripping over the Truth: https://www.amazon.com/Tripping-over-Truth-Overturning-Entrenched/dp/1603587292/benazadi-20 Chris became frustrated that all this research was available, but people didn’t have access to it. So, Chris decided to start making content to educate the masses on the ketogenic diet. [16:45] How Ketosis Helps You Build Muscle People think carbohydrates and insulin are required for muscle growth. However, you don’t have to have them. There are other ways that you can stimulate muscle growth. Ketones are muscle-sparing. You don’t lose muscle with ketosis. Ketones can also stimulate muscle growth by activating muscle proteins. Getting enough protein will be essential for muscle growth, especially for men. Even for people who aren’t focused on gaining muscle, there should be a focus on retaining muscle. Chronic diseases will destroy our health through muscle loss – so increase your protein intake. [21:00] How Chris Got Into Carnivore Chris tried carnivore about two and a half years ago. At first, Chris didn’t think an all-meat diet would be beneficial for people. After trying carnivore, he loved the way that he felt. It also changed the way that he looks at nutrition because he now prioritizes quality meat. Chris found that the carnivore diet gives him more strength in the gym, improves his productivity, decreases his hunger, improves his body composition, and even increases his ketone levels. After seeing the stories and hearing so many people who get excellent benefits from a carnivore diet, Chris thinks people can decide if it's the right fit for them. [26:40] Getting Vitamins And Minerals Through The Carnivore Diet Surprisingly, there are loads of nutrients in red meat. People think that plants provide us with essential micronutrients, and cutting them out will lead to deficiencies. However, micronutrients in plants are poorly absorbed in humans. Ketones are able to provide the benefits that vitamin C does. Plus, your demand for vitamin C will be less when you’re in ketosis. You need lots of vitamins on the standard American diet; your body doesn’t need as many vitamins in a carnivore diet. [31:45] Repairing The Gut With Carnivore Gut health will improve with the carnivore diet for two reasons: Plants contain compounds that are toxic, and they can wreak havoc on our bodies. Some people are sensitive to these plants from overconsumption. So, when we eliminate those plants, the gut can start to heal through carnivore. Meat will provide nutrients to help with the repair

How to heal your body with frequencies with Sara Banta - KKP: 217
Today, I am blessed to have Sara Banta, a Health Coach and busy mother of three whose children are now 14, 16, and 18 years old. Sara completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University with a degree in Economics and Psychology in 1998. In 2016, she graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and The Invincible Wellness System. Through her journey, she has had to solve many health issues within her family, including her son suffering from leukemia at the age of nine, her daughter having allergies, anemia, and asthma, her husband having heart issues, her other daughter having comprehension and learning issues, in addition to headaches. This, of course, is on top of her own issues with fertility, hormones, adult acne, IBS, digestive issues, heavy metals and much more. She has had to connect the dots and realize what was causing all these issues and what the solutions were, which also of course involved the mind-body connection. A lot of the same solutions that heal the gut or the brain are the solutions that help achieve weight loss, improve fitness and restore metabolic health. With that, she has devoted her life to providing guidance and all-natural health supplements and solutions that heal the body and the root problems, not just addressing the symptoms. In this episode, Sara Banta opens the show by sharing her and her son's health journey. After her son's leukemia diagnosis, Sara's family went on a massive health journey. Eventually, that journey led Sara to create Accelerated Health Products to help other people heal. Plus, Sara speaks about how keto can be used as a health tool, and she gives hacks on how to avoid the keto flu. Later, we talk about frequency-based healing and the ways that Accelerated Scalar Silver can change your life. She had zero energy, and her stomach was bloated with food. Doctors couldn’t give her any answers. After finding a natural practitioner, she realized that healing would involve a mind-body connection. Later, Sara found out her son had leukemia. Sara decided to put all of her energy into healing her son. Doctors simply don’t have the time to help everyone heal. After cutting the processed foods and sugars, Sara and her son were on a healing journey together. Eventually, Sara created Accelerated Health Products to help other people heal: https://acceleratedhealthproducts.com/ahp/ketokamp/ use the coupon code KETOKAMP15 for 15% off. [19:20] Using Keto As A Health Tool A lot of people progress from paleo to keto. That way, you won’t hit the keto flu as much. Also, endogenous ketones are a great tool to get yourself into ketosis without the keto flu. Intermittent fasting is essential to incorporate in a ketogenic lifestyle; that way, ketosis is easier to achieve. Sara focuses on supplements and tools to get her into ketosis quicker. Most people walk around with leaky gut. It's easy to have with the toxins that we are exposed to daily. On Sara’s keto journey, she realized that she and her children are all individuals, needing different diets. Even though Sara is on keto, she has a challenging time processing fat. Sara will focus on high protein. She eats less fat than a typical person who is on keto. You don’t need to be in ketosis 24/7, especially for females. Going in and out of ketosis will be helpful for the metabolism. [25:50] About Frequency-Based Healing There are frequency-based machines that can heal the human body. For instance, the Genius Insight Biofeedback App is a great tool. It combines a patented Voice Spectral Analysis together with a series of highly effective alternative healing modalities. This video reveals that calories do matter, but they aren't important. Focusing on calories is a distraction to what truly matters, hormones and cell metabolism. What Ben Azadi, founder of Keto Kamp, teaches is to focus on the two macros instead, carbohydrates and protein. Keep your total carbohydrates below 50 grams for the day. Of course, you want these keto carb macros to be from high quality sources. Aim to consume 40-50 grams of quality animal protein with each meal. When you pair intermittent fasting with keto, you most likely will end up cutting calories; but, there's a big difference when you do it with fasting vs not. This video explains the difference as it comes down to counter regulatory hormones. ▸ 🎁 FREE KETO KAMP BLUEPRINT: http://www.ketokampblueprint.com 🎓 Join the Keto Kamp Membership for only $5!: http://www.startketokap.com / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. ☕️ Purity Coffee: http//:www.ketokampcoffee.com, use ketokamp at checkout for 10% off// R E S O U R C E S ➡️ Keto Kamp Membership for only $5: http://www.startketokamp.com ➡️The World's Best Olive Oil | Get a $39 Bottle For a $1: http://www.ketokampoliveoil.com ☕Healthiest Coffee: http://www.ketokampcoffee.com Use "ketokamp" for 10% off ➡️Keto Kamp Apparel: http://www.ketokampgear.com *Some Links Are Affiliates* // F O L L O W ▸ instagram | @thebenazadi | http://bit.ly/2B1NXKW ▸ facebook | /thebenazadi | http://bit.ly/2BVvvW6 ▸ twitter | @thebenazadi http://bit.ly/2USE0so Disclaimer: This podcast is for information purposes only. It is estimated that autophagy starts during the 16 hour mark of a fast, this is also dependent on whether or not you go into the fast in ketosis or not. When you go into your fast being in ketosis, you'll activate autophagy faster. On your autophagy fasting days, when you do eat to break the fast, it is important to keep total protein for the day under 20 grams. This is the time to increase your healthy fats. Here are my favorite fats to break your autophagy fast with... Grass fed butter or ghee Coconut oil Olives and olive oil Avocados Nut butters Here are 2 ways to practice autophagy fasting during the week. Option #1 An 18/6 autophagy fasting schedule This means 18 hours out of the 24 hour period you are in the fasted state. You only consume water with sea salt here. You break the fast with mostly fasts. Then have your two meals within your 6 hour eating window. The first meal should have less than 20 grams of total protein. The second meal at the 24 hour mark is where you consume the rest of your protein which will stop the autophagy. I like this method 2-3 times per week, depending on how much extra body fat you have on you. Option #2 A 32/16 autophagy fasting schedule This approach is more aggressive, and is best for those with more than 20 pounds of excess body weight that you want to lose. Here's how it works... 32 hour fast with only water and sea salt. You break the fast with mostly fasts, keeping total protein here under 20 grams. The following meal will be 4 hours later where you can consume more protein. This can be done 1-2 times per week. It is important to balance autophagy with mTor, and I explain the difference between these two pathways in this video. ⏱️ The Art of Fasting Webinar. Gary Taubes | The Case for Keto, The Science & Practice of High Fat Low Carb KKP: 214
Today, I am blessed to have here with me an investigative science and health journalist and co-founder of the non-profit Nutrition Science Initiative (NuSI.org), Gary Taubes. He is the author of The Case Against Sugar (2016), Why We Get Fat and What to Do About It (2011), and Good Calories, Bad Calories (2007), published as The Diet Delusion in the UK. Taubes is the recipient of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Award in Health Policy Research and has won numerous other journalism awards. These include the International Health Reporting Award from the Pan American Health Organization and the National Association of Science Writers Science in Society Journalism Award, which he won in 1996, 1999, and 2001. (He is the first print journalist to win this award three times.) Taubes graduated from Harvard College in 1977 with an SB degree in applied physics and received an MS degree in engineering from Stanford University (1978) and in journalism from Columbia University (1981). In this episode, Gary Taubes joins the show to speak about his work shining a light on bad science in the nutritional realm. After publishing What If It’s All Been A Big Fat Lie?, Gary faced loads of backlash. However, that didn’t stop him. Gary has published countless books about why we need to ditch carbs, stop eating sugar, and start eating fats. Gary speaks about the inspiration behind his book, The Case For Keto. After interviewing 120 doctors from around the world that recommend the keto lifestyle, his book talks about why the established rules about eating healthy might be the wrong approach to weight loss. Tune in as we talk about why calories in, calories out is a terrible way to lose weight. ⏱️ The Art of Fasting Webinar. He found a disconnect between medical research and public research. The disconnect is especially terrible in the nutritional world. After reporting about the DASH diet study, Gary found that eating a low-sodium diet wouldn’t help lower your blood pressure. Then, Gary decided to start researching the low-fat diet. Gary keeps exploring different aspects of nutrition by shining a flashlight on dark science. [06:50] The Backlash From Gary’s Work Gary found that fat doesn’t make you fat; it’s carbs. After the New York Times ran his story, What If It’s All Been A Big Fat Lie?, there was a massive uproar. Gary even lost a few friends because of the article. People thought Gary made the research up to get a book deal. All sorts of magazines did take-downs of Gary. When Gary’s first book came out, there was still an uproar. People assume that he’s a quack. [20:35] About The Case For Keto Carbs are the reason that you get obese. However, the counterargument is always Asia. These people have lived primarily on rice. The answer is that they are low sugar consumers. After we discovered insulin, people thought they needed carbs to balance the insulin. Insulin and carbs should not be the answer to people with diabetes. Doctors will argue that patients do not want to give up carbs. However, most doctors agree that their patients should not be eating sweets. As keto started to catch on in mainstream media, Gary knew he needed to create a book for people who are trying keto for the first time. For his book, Gary interviewed about 120 doctors from all over the world. [37:35] Being In Ketosis Long-Term Gary interviewed 120 doctors from all over the world; most of them don’t care if people are in ketosis long-term. These doctors are mostly concerned with people getting off of carbs. Ben says that it is healthy to reset the metabolism and work on carb-cycling. [43:45] Why Calories In, Calories Out Is A Terrible Way To Lose Weight You can starve yourself and lose weight – however, you will be starving all of the time, and it’s not sustainable. The idea that people get fat because they overeat is a thin person’s perspective on obesity. However, it’s a tautology. Insulin tells your body to store calories as fat. By the end of the 1960s, it was clear that people who are obese tend to be insulin resistant; carbs stimulate insulin, which tells your body to store fat. Overall, people with obesity don’t respond normally to insulin. AND MUCH MORE! Jeremy Abramson | The 6 Pillars to a Healthy and Happy Life - KKP: 213
Today, I am blessed to have a Chief ENERGY Officer and Community Cultivator, Jeremy Abramson. His mission is to energize, educate, and empower you to unleash your full potential. Jeremy is the host of Thrive University. He believes that EVERYONE deserves access to higher education. FOR FREE. Jeremy is committed to educating and empowering you with the tools and knowledge you need to live your happiest and healthiest life. Jeremy brings you the most knowledgeable and inspiring leaders in health, wellness, spirituality, mindset, and entrepreneurship. As a philanthropist, he makes giving back a priority, talking to youth at several local nonprofit. In 2017, he partnered with Maison Fortuné Orphanage in Haiti and returned for a second trip the following year. As his business and digital following continue to build, his influence follows. In January 2019, he rolled out his first highly anticipated online program, CLIMB. The program aims to optimize your human experience through habit change and self-awareness. It has already been recognized as one of the most impactful coaching programs in the industry. In this episode, Jeremy opens the show by revealing why it’s critical to clarify your values. Once you understand your values clearly, then you can act accordingly. Jeremy explains why comparing yourself to others is utterly pointless. Instead, we need to realize that our journey is unique, and everyone progresses at different times in different ways. Then, Jeremy dives into how to create your dream life by following his acronym THRIVE: thoughts, habits, relationships, intentions, vitality, and enthusiasm. Tune in as Anthony Lizardi joins the show to ask Jeremy about motivation and positive thinking. ⏱️ The Art of Fasting Webinar. That will lead us to behave in ways that don’t align with our core values or vision. People should get clear on what matters to them. Once you have clarity, you can identify what is out of alignment. Next, figure out where your limiting beliefs come from. Usually, they come from your early childhood. Your subconscious programming is set in stone from your first seven years of life. However, you have the ability to rewrite the stories that you tell yourself. No longer do people have to be a victim of their past. [08:10] Stop Comparing Yourself To Others Instead of comparing yourself to others, turn it into inspiration. We compare ourselves to people who are in a completely different space. Everyone progresses at a different level. So, we need to understand our superpowers and our uniqueness. That way, you will understand how the journey is different for everyone. We tend to be our harshest critic. Focus on progress, build confidence, and establish momentum. [13:10] How To Create Your Dream Life The average American is overweight, depressed, and in debt. Average is something that Jeremy stays very far away from. There are six components to creating your dream life: Thoughts Turn off the news Create an affirmation before you go to bed Stop judging yourself so harshly Habits Our habits decide our future Have an accountability checklist Tie every action with a feeling or emotion Relationships It’s powerful to have relationships in your life that level you up People think it’s lonely at the top; however, it doesn’t have to be Find people who inspire you and challenge you Intention Bring more intention and presence into everything you’re doing It will give you a guide on what not to do Be fully present and fully engaged Vitality Your thoughts and habits will either fuel you or strip your energy away What do the first 30 minutes of your day look like? Focused energy and attention is our most valuable commodity Enthusiasm Do what you love Now more than ever, the world needs positive leaders Enthusiasm is more important than knowledge and experience [49:50] Finding Motivation Motivation will get you started. However, motivation is not permanent. Motivation is a product of momentum. To establish momentum, stack small habits. Make your first hour and last hour of the day belong to you. Work on journaling. [53:55] Creating Positive Thoughts Find the source of your negative thoughts. They come from somewhere, someone instilled them inside of you. Do the work. It can be uncomfortable. AND MUCH MORE! She didn’t feel well, but the doctor told her she was normal. One day, Dr. Ann had terrible stomach pain, she went to a different doctor. It turns out, Dr. Ann’s appendix exploded. Later, Dr. Ann had severe hives that sent her to the emergency room. No one talked to her about diet. So, she sought care from natural providers. They spoke to her about diet, environmental pollutants, and hormones. [05:15] Why Dr. Ann Loves Neurotransmitters Ann meets patients who just can’t change their diets. Person after person, Dr. Ann wanted to know what was going on. She started to run tests on herself and found out her neurotransmitters were in the toilet. Dr. Ann was exposed to black mold, it was contributing to a lot of her problems. When she found the black mold, Dr. Ann moved out. [09:15] About Neurotransmitters Neurotransmitters are messengers for your body. They work in the brain and make us feel good. However, they also run digestion, muscle coordination, and other functions. When we think about adrenal health, dopamine shares a pathway with our fight or flight chemicals. It’s associated with our adrenal health. Sometimes when someone is exhausted, it could be dopamine depletion. Dopamine can become depleted for a variety of reasons. Some people do not methylate correctly. Chronic stress can also deplete dopamine. [11:45] How Methylation Works You need certain chemicals to make the dopamine conversion. There is a test to figure out how your pathways are working. If you don’t have the nutrients to run a pathway, it might not be a methylation issue. Make sure that you are running the pathway appropriately. Not having the right nutrients can cause stress. When Dr. Ann runs testing, people are depleted in Vitamin C, B6, and magnesium. It can be as simple as supporting the body with some nutrients so the pathway can run better. [16:15] Getting The Organic Acids Test There are other tests, but Dr. Ann uses an Organic Acids Test. This test is fantastic because it can check for black mold. Before taking the test, do a glutathione challenge. If someone has dopamine depletion, it could be related to something they have been exposed to. [22:00] Recommending Supplements When someone goes to see Dr. Ann, they have poor gut health. That’s why Dr. Ann will recommend supplements. If you are chronically iron deficient, then something in the gut could be creating inflammation. Ann would like to kill critters before supplementing. If you can optimize your gut, you can get the necessary vitamins and minerals through your food. Ann will give a product that has B6, B9, B12, and B2. However, she checks with the individual where they are high and where they are low. [24:40] How Carbs Will Affect Our Dopamine When someone wants carbs to feel satisfied, they could go overboard. Processed carbs make o
