James Cook Trade Chatter Feels Like Crazy Talk

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo it’s another edition of listener submitted takes and questions called “The Podbag” and Patrick Moran is responding them, including shutting down increased chatter that fans would like to see James Cook get traded after the Buffalo Bills re-signed Ty Johnson.Cook has been pretty transparent this offseason with his desire to be one of the highest paid running backs in the NFL, essentially confirming on his Instagram recently that he deserves at least $15 million per year. That’s led to many fans turning on him of sorts, and often suggesting the Bills should trade him since they’re almost certainly not going to pay him the kind of money he’s looking for. Patrick absolutely disagrees with pretty much any trade theory short of a team being stupid enough to overpay to the extent Brandon Beane can’t refuse. While agreeing that Cook’s snap percentage and a shortcoming or two of his leads to him not being deserving of the same type of money guys like Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry can command, he explains multiple reasons why he considers trading Cook completely foolish, even if this is his last year on the team. Also Patrick has thoughts on a listener calling the Bills signing of Joey Bosa the Baltimore equivalent of adding DeAndre Hopkins and worries that the Bosa move has Shawn Merriman vibes from more than a decade ago. That plus Keon Coleman being counted on to step up, Damar Hamlin returning to the Bills, Shaun Dolac showing on during his UB Pro Day and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Reacting To All Bills Signings & Suspensions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss and react to all of the Buffalo Bills additions so far in free agency as well as the suspensions to Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi. It’s been hard to put a finger on exactly how free agency has been for the Bills to this point. Weird is the term Patrick comes up with. Brandon Beane clearly had a few things in mind with his approach, most notably a receiver with a specific skill set and essentially an overhaul on the defensive line. It was shocking news to learn on Friday both Hoecht and Ogunjobi would be suspended six games each for PED violations, especially shocking to hear Beane admit he didn’t know about Ogunjobi but did ahead of time with Hoecht. The guys have plenty of reactions to that news and the way a lot of fans are handling it.Also, the Bills may be relying on rookies more than they like in 2025 early on after the suspensions. The guys discuss how impactful rookies have been with the team throughout the Sean McDermott era.Plus, Joe introduces a true or false segment, Patrick has a Mt. Flushmore of Patrick’s in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, thoughts on players who change uniform numbers and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. More Bills Free Agency Reactions, Plus Sabres Remain Disgraceful

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to react to the Buffalo Bills being aggressive to find improvements to their roster over the past week in addition to the Buffalo Sabres remaining consistently disgraceful as their season mercifully is near an end. It's been a week of a lot of Bills news and reactions on this podcast and that continues today with Chris, who primarily covers hockey but's very plugged into the the Bills as well. He's got thoughts on Buffalo adding three new veteran bodies to the defensive line that come with a lot of experience and question marks, but also plenty of upside.Turning their attention the Sabres, it's been another absolute embarrassment as Buffalo is dead last in the Eastern Conference and 30th overall with just 18 games remaining to play. Patrick asks Chris for his reaction to claims that captain Rasmus Dahlin is fed up to the point that he told current general manager Kevyn Adams to fix things soon or he wants out. Dahlin publicly denied the claims but do the guys believe he's at that point? One thing's for certain----- Dahlin and Tage Thompson are two stars on this team who instead of being properly celebrated are just rotting their careers away with this organization.Speaking of, Chris has thoughts on if retaining Adams beyond this season is even sellable to fans. That plus what's going on with UPL's regression, Jack Quinn's future and tons more.Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Day Three Bills Free Agent Reactions - Roster Taking Shape

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss the first three days of free agency for the Buffalo Bills and specifically what's become an overhaul of their defensive line following three significant additions. It wasn't exactly a secret that the Bills were going to look to improve a defensive line that was good at times in 2024 but also floundered too often as well, none more than last year's AFC championship game loss in Kansas City. Bills general manager Brandon Beane took some pretty big steps to try and improve the unit this week, signing Michael Hoecht on Monday before the big one, Joey Bosa on Tuesday and following it up with a third addition on Wednesday morning, Larry Ogunjobi. The guys break down all three moves and discuss what they like and don't like about them, and there's plenty of both on Bosa and Ogunjobi.Beane also addressed safety on Wednesday, bringing back Damar Hamlin on a one-year deal and also signing Darrick Forrest. Patrick thinks Hamlin being back is a reflection of an open market that rejected him, something Matt definitely disagrees with. With these moves plus the signing of Josh Palmer and re-signing of Ty Johnson earlier, it certainly appears the meat and potatoes of the Bills roster is set heading into NFL draft season next. That's with the exception of cornerback. Both guys have thoughts on where this roster stands as well as some reaction to happenings around the NFL and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Bills Free Agency Reaction – Bold For Bosa

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran reacts to day two of free agency tampering period for the Buffalo Bills, including a nighttime bombshell of Buffalo signing edge rusher Joey Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million deal in one of the biggest risk vs reward swings of Brandon Beane's tenure.Day two was calm for Buffalo in terms of moves and it felt like Beane's sole focus could be maintaining the Bills running back room after re-signing Ty Johnson to a two-year deal and bringing back Darrynton Evans for his third stint with the team. By the way, Patrick explains why he absolutely loves the move to bring Johnson back although many fans were ready for that to not happen in hopes they'd see more James Cook in 2025---an idea that Patrick explains as stupid. But the big news happened at 9:22pm when "Beane After Dark" struck again, as NFL Insiders reported the Bills signed Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million contract included $12 million guaranteed. Patrick has a slew of thoughts about this move that could be a strikeout as easily as a home run for the Bills. What should fans love about it? Hate about it?That plus what the Bills still need going forward, hopefully in advance of the NFL draft and much more. Wow, what a night.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Bills & NFL Live Reaction - Free Agency Day One

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran offers plenty of live reaction from day one of the NFL free agency tampering period as it pertains both to the Buffalo Bills and around the NFL.The Bills made their first move of free agency on Monday on offense, inking former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer to a three-year deal worth a reported $36 million. They followed that up by inking defensive lineman Michael Hoecht to a three-year deal worth a reported $24 million.Palmer's stats with the Chargers have been pretty pedestrian throughout his four year career, catching 39 passes for 584 yards and a touchdown last year. While his general stats are hardly impressive Patrick elaborates on why he was calling for this signing literally as recently as yesterday's show, explaining how plenty of metrics demonstrate that he's the type of receiver the Bills lack and could really use right now in this offense that was historical. As far Hoecht, Patrick admits to not knowing much at all about him but runs off some facts for him and feels better about the addition after seeing some plugged in Bills content creators having been supportive of the signing before free agency started.Patrick also has thoughts on while everyone wants the Bills to add star players and they very well still may, it was their role players and some of those contributions that were a major reason Buffalo had such a great season in 2024, saying Palmer's presence could be along the lines of great contributors from last year like Ty Johnson, Mack Hollins, Alec Anderson, Dorian Williams and others.Patrick also talks about what he's happy and not happy about in regards to where the Bills stand early on in free agency---where he thinks the Bills should've went with some decisions and still may going forward. That plus thoughts on some of the bigger signings around the league, the New England Patriots making a lot of noise and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Buffalo Bills Free Agency Preview & Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for a Buffalo Bills free agency preview and some bold predictions as the craziest week of the NFL offseason gets underway.Bills general manager Brandon Beane has been busy in advance of Monday's start of free agency, locking up core pieces Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard and Khalil Shakir to long term four-year extensions before the biggest one Sunday evening---locking up Josh Allen on a six-year deal that gives him the highest guaranteed dollar amount in NFL history, $250 million.. They also said goodbye to Von Miller on Sunday morning as well. The guys have reaction to all of the big moves Buffalo's made leading to free agency. They also spend plenty of time talking about possibilities at some of the positions most obvious the Bills will be looking to upgrade and fortify--- defensive edge, defensive tackle, cornerback, wide receiver and possibly safety. Plenty of pretty well known names are out there and there's also some guys that could be great lowkey fits. Also, Patrick has a slew of Bills free agency predictions, including the possibility of a trade for Trey Hendrickson and Joe has some takes of his own. That plus Joe's Free Agency Bingo Board and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. What Should Be The Bills Biggest Splash?

E

It's another edition of The Podbag on Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to listener questions, comments and takes almost entirely focused on the Buffalo Bills, many of them contentious on how the Bills should proceed with this offseason. It seems pretty apparent that the Bills are looking to add a major piece or two to what's clearly a championship caliber roster led by a MVP quarterback. How Brandon Beane should prioritize handlings needs is hotly debated. There's certainly a school of thought that the Bills should trade for DK Metcalf, one of the best wide receivers in the game that Seattle is reportedly willing to shop. However, Patrick explains that while having Metcalf in the fold would be amazing, it absolutely shouldn't be their top priority.Instead, Patrick explains why adding a high impact pass rusher should be most important and makes his case for Josh Sweat of the Philadelphia Eagles, on the assumption Myles Garrett won't end up ultimately traded. Also, Patrick responds to someone asking him for the most realistic path to the Bills getting over the hump, if he'd have interest in Joey Bosa, is Kaiir Elam's time in Buffalo toast and a potential Garrett trade scenario. That plus a Sabres rant and thanks for being around for episode number 1,000 this past week!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Buffalo Bills Free Agency Period "Wish List"

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to react to several Buffalo Bills & NFL news and rumors in addition to Matt compiling a Bills wish list of sorts with free agency set to begin in less than a week.As of this recording nothing significant has happened with the Bills roster this offseason other than the extension of wide receiver Khalil Shakir. The guys react to Shakir's deal now that the full contract deals are available. Shakir being the lone notable Bills transaction is surely about to change, possibly by the time you're listening to this. The guys have thoughts on how after a quiet offseason a year ago in terms of additions, nearly everything is at least potentially on the table for the Bills this time around.Matt spends time going over what he considers his Bills wish list, running off the players he'd like to see the team re-sign as well as extend. Of course there will be additions and Matt has a few players he thinks would be a great fit for the 2025 Buffalo Bills---and a few names may surprise you. Also, they react to Matt Stafford sticking with the Los Angeles Rams and Sam Darnold set to cash in with free agency. That plus does it make sense for Davante Adams to play with Aaron Rodgers somewhere else again and tons more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’sat 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. How important is that the Bills find a way to overhaul a defensive line that continues to fall short in playoff elimination games? How much does the team even need to add to an offense that was one of the best in the league last season and historically good by all Bills franchise metrics? Bruce Nolan Talks Bills Defensive Plan of Attack

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by popular Buffalo Bills content creator Bruce Nolan (The Bruce Exclusive) for a discussion on what the Bills defensive plan of attack may be in the coming days and weeks as we're less than a week away from free agency.Originally this was slated to be the fifth annual Podcaster's Roundtable, which included Bruce in addition to Joe Marino and Greg Tompsett. However, a personal matter came up involving one of the other guests so that's being reschedule and Bruce was kind enough to come on solo and talk about a Bills unit that could see some big changes upcoming soon. With the offense potentially close to being "run it back" territory from last year with the exception of perhaps another receiver, the defense could see one or more major shakeups very soon. Bruce has a ton of insight and opinions on what some of those may be, including his expectations for a potential Myles Garret trade that everyone's talking about and most are hoping for. That and plenty more. Huge thanks to Bruce for coming on solo, switching up the format on the fly and helping out in a pinch! That and plenty more. Bills Best & Worst Free Agent Signings Under Beane

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to chat on many topics, including going through many of the best and worst free agent signings the Buffalo Bills have under general manager Brandon Beane since 2018.Free agency has been a pretty mixed bag since Beane came to Buffalo over the past seven seasons. Before looking into what is going to happen over the next few weeks the guys talk about some of Beane's biggest free agent hits like Cole Beasley, Mitch Morse, John Brown and a couple of offensive lineman currently on the team. On the opposite end they discuss a handful of his lowlights, including Vernon Butler, Jamison Crowder, OJ Howard and unfortunately because of his ACL tear, Von Miller. Also, Jason Peters is retiring after 21 seasons including the first five with Buffalo. The Bills trading rather than paying the future Hall of Famer should go down as one of the dumbest moves in franchise history, Joe argues.Plus, Joe continues to think the NFL Combine is stupid. That plus John Cena finally turns heel in shocking fashion and tons more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’sat 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Mike MacDonald, Daemen University Basketball Coach (Live From Imperial Pizza)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Daemen University men's basketball coach Mike MacDonald for a conversation about his No. 1 ranked Wildcats taped live from Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo.Obviously being in a like Buffalo dominated by Bills and Sabres talk, many college and high school sports accomplishments fly under the radar. Perhaps none so more than the Daemen men's college basketball team, which is undefeated at 24-0 and literally the No. 1 ranked D2 college team in the country. Patrick speaks with Mike about what's went into this magical season and a roster largely built around homegrown talent. Not only have they dominated opposition, they've obliterated most of it---evidenced by just two of their wins being by less than double digits. They spend plenty of time talking Mike's college coaching career, a resume that's seen him as a head coach over the past 27 years at Canisius, Medaille and Daemen. As someone who's coached on every level of college Mike has thoughts on the biggest differences and similarities. They also talk about Mike's basketball journey, some of his biggest influences, other sports he's a fan of and much more.Big shout-out and thank you once again to Imperial Pizzafor being a gracious host and for their excellent wings. EVERYTHING Should Be On Table For Bills Defense

E

It's another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to your questions, comments and takes primarily about the Buffalo Bills, including Patrick hammering home that everything should be on the table for the Bills defense, not just a prominent edge rusher. It's certainly understandable why the Bills adding a game changing type of edge defender is the central point of almost any Bills conversation. Their inability to get after the quarterback has hurt them greatly over the course of several recent playoff elimination losses. Improving there absolutely should and has to be at the forefront for general manager Brandon Beane. However, Patrick outlines why having just one guy isn't enough and the Bills should be targeting at least two prime time level defenders that will cost plenty and explains why everything should be on the table for the unit, including adding a second outstanding corner to pair alongside Christian Benford and/or a top end safety like a Javon Holland. Also, Khalil Shakir signed a four-year extension with Buffalo this week and Patrick has plenty of thoughts on that. Was he their top priority because he re-signed first? Patrick doesn't think so.That plus continued talk about the 2024 draft class needing to be better, Dorian Williams being considered a "miss" after his first season, the Buffalo Sabres showing some fight in them and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ten Big Questions Facing The Bills Before Free Agency

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly chat and the focus today is on 10 very big questions Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills are pondering as they get ready to attack free agency beginning on March 10.Last year's strategy due primarily to economics was very straightforward. The Bills shed a lot of salary by jettison several players who were leaders and part of their core, a list that included names like Jordan Poyer, Tre White, Mitch Morse and Stefon Diggs. It was a very low-key free agency spearheaded by the additions of Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel. Things turned out wonderfully for Buffalo despite the mostly "uneventful" offseason from Beane and company. The expectation around league circles is different this time around. The Bills are expected to put some serious resources into a few positions, very likely on the defensive line above all else. Prior to there's several questions in need of discussing which the guys do, among them being what to do with Von Miller, is Daquan Jones addition by subtraction at this point of his career, what's their plan for attack at cornerback and what's their level of faith in safety Cole Bishop going into year two? Also, Matt has thoughts on what the price should be that Beane's willing to pay to acquire a Myles Garrett or Max Crosby if either player is actually available. That plus a few other Bills questions, where Rams quarterback Matt Stafford may end up this season and tons more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Bills Issues Still Lingering From Them Falling Short

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK (Buffalo Sports Collective ) to discuss annoying things about the Bills AFC title game loss that still linger several weeks later in addition to reaction to Sean McDermott's presser at the NFL Combine and some Buffalo Sabres talk. It's been nearly a month since the Bills blew an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl in a three point loss at Arrowhead Stadium but Patrick remembers things from that game that are still bothering him to to this day. He talks to PK about some of them, including Joe Brady not adjusting or moving off the tush push, the lack of touches for James Cook, defensive stalwarts Greg Rousseau & Terrel Bernard being complete no shows and veteran safety Micah Hyde not getting a look at some action. Also, Sean McDermott spoke to the media on Monday at day one of the NFL Combine and the guys react to that. Should The Bills Be Concerned About James Cook?

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including if the Buffalo Bills should be worried about James Cook's contract demands and reacting to Joe Buscaglia's Bills mock offseason story in The Athletic.James Cook gave hints to wanting a very lucrative new contract on his Instagram recently and he definitely doubled down on that during a sports talk show appearance, saying he's standing on business. The guys discuss what they think is Cook's financial worth to the Bills and how much, if any of a problem is Cook's new public attitude going to be for the team going into next season. Also, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic published his fully detailed annual Bills mock offseason, where he goes through every personnel move he could see the Bills making, from restructures all the way through the NFL draft. Patrick and Joe have plenty thoughts on Joe B's work, which includes a monster Myles Garrett trade and a notable wide receiver addition. The Four Nations Face-Off was a huge victory for hockey and the guys have thoughts on that. "Yay Or Nay" Buffalo Bills Edition (Plus, Sabres Ready To Return)

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo blogger and podcaster Chris to discuss both the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, including a segment devoted to eight potential upcoming scenarios for the Bills. As always this is an interesting time of the year for the Bills and every team in the NFL. It may not feel like it at the moment but championship teams are born or die over the next few months based on decisions made about players to re-sign, let walk, cut, trade away, trade for, sign in free agency and of course the NFL draft. Patrick points out eight potential scenarios that could happen with the Bills over the coming days and weeks and tasks Chris with playing general manager Brandon Beane for each. Chris discusses if he would make each proposed move or not and elaborates why.On the Sabres front the team is ready to return to action Saturday after a two week league-wide break for the Four Nations Face Off. Chris has thoughts on Lindy Ruff saying the Sabres can still back into the wild card mix by approaching games a certain way. He also comments on Jordan Greenway returning to the lineup, who he's likely playing with, why Zach Benson has been skating on the fourth line, Devon Levi owning the nets in Rochester and Chris' realistic expectations for the remaining 28 games. That plus sound issues that have plagued Talking Buffalo over the past few days, a few big show announcements and plenty more.Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. A Few Buffalo Bills Offseason Moves That Could Surprise You

E

It’s another edition of The Podbag on this episode of Talking Buffalo, as Patrick Moran goes through several listener submitted questions and takes primarily on the Buffalo Bills, including going over three moves he can see Brandon Beane making over the next few weeks that could be a considered a surprise to many fans. With Buffalo making it to the AFC championship game before falling short to Kansas City for the fourth tie since 2020, it's highly unlikely we'll see any kind of major personnel overhaul. That doesn't mean there isn't changes to be made that matter. After being asked for a few potential surprise moves Patrick comes up with three, with two of them being departing ways with a pair of current starters that kind of fly under the radar, one on each side of the football. Also, while defensive edge rusher continues to be all the rage in sports talk discussions, Patrick thinks the defensive tackle position is as big or potentially even a bigger need and based on comes up with a free agent from a AFC rival that he thinks could make a significant impact on the Buffalo defenses.Plus, are people like Patrick starting to rate Greg Roussea too low? That plus selling high on James Cook, where Amari Cooper lands, worry about the 2024 draft class and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Potential Buffalo Bills RB and WR Free Agent Targets

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren (SB Nation) to discuss some potential Buffalo Bills running back and wide receiver candidates should the Bills end up deciding to dip their toes there in the upcoming NFL free agency market. While it feels like the Bills are pretty set at both those positions, that's at least potentially not accurate. Amari Cooper and Mack Hollins are both scheduled to become free agent wide receivers come March 10 and if the Bills lose one or especially both, they may need to turn to the open market to replenish. That goes the same for running back if they can't re-sign popular backup Ty Johnson. There's even a scenario where maybe Brandon Beane decides he's not going to deal with any potential James Cook drama and looks to trade the star, perhaps as part of a big trade package. In any event the guys go over several possibilities at both position, ranging from intriguing younger prospects to veterans where you're almost certain you'll know what you're getting. They also spend some time discussing an article from Mike Sando of The Athletic that suggested the Bills are going to have urgency to make a big splash this offseason if they're to overtake the Kansas City Chiefs or stay ahead of the Baltimore Ravens, referencing a situation the Oakland Raiders found themselves in back in the 1970's. That plus some thoughts on a few teams around the league and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Does Josh Allen Hide Too Many Bills Flaws?

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics including a conversation on if MVP Josh Allen hides too many other flaws on this team and how good this roster is compared to other contenders once quarterbacks are removed from the equation. The Bills have been perennial contenders every year since 2019 and Allen's growth has been remarkable to watch, culminating with him winning the NFL MVP this past season. Sports journalist Tyler Dunne recently had a podcast with guest Jim Monos and Monos suggested, strongly that the play of Allen covers up an otherwise pretty flawed Bills roster, even suggesting the Bills woudn't be a playoff team if Jalen Hurts was their quarterback. Patrick and Joe debate how good the Bills are after you remove Allen from the equation compared to non-QB rosters of some other contenders. The answer may surprise you. Also, James Cook is making it known what he's seeking in a new contract from the Buffalo Bills and this offseason and possibly beyond has the potential to get quite tumultuous between the two. Patrick and Joe have thoughts on Cook and if he deserves what he's asking for and look back at some former Bills who made their contract demands public and how that played out.Bills strength and conditioning coach Eric Ciano was fired last week after being with the team since 2013. The guys have thoughts on why that happened. That plus the Mt. Flushmore of Bills bad free agent signings, a few predictions for major things that happen with the Bills this offseason and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Five Things The Bills Should Do Before Free Agency

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran reveals five things that he thinks Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane should make before free agency starts on March 10 in addition to discussing what potentially could become an ugly contract situation with Bills star running back James Cook. It's just mid February and Cook still has another year left on his rookie contract with the team but he's already doing things that give the impression he's ready to sink his teeth into getting a new deal. Among them is flat-out saying he wants $15 million per year on his Instagram and one day later actually unfollowing the Bills from his IG as well. That could be nothing but maybe it's setting up to be an issue. Patrick tries to break down what it all means, goes through a case for Cook deserving big money and a case for the Bills to not give it to him. He also goes over what possible contract resolution could look like as well other solutions, including simply doing nothing at all this offseason.Patrick also goes over five things the Bills should do in advance of free agency and that list includes saying goodbye to one of their most prominent veterans, locking up a defensive guy to (very) big money before it potentially gets even more expensive next year, a handful of guys worth re-signing and pulling off a major trade for an edge rusher. That plus some fan reaction to the developing Cook situation and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. James Cook Apparently Wants Mega Money --- Should He Get it?

E

It's another edition of The Podbag on this episode of Talking Buffalo, as Patrick Moran goes through several listener submitted questions and responds, including Buffalo Bills running back James Cook apparently wanting a whole lot of money in his next contract, what the team should do with Von Miller and what it would take for Patrick to take the Buffalo Sabres serious again.James Cook took to his Instagram this week and certainly made it seem like he thinks he's worth $15 million per year. Patrick discusses if that's going to happen at Buffalo this offseason if at all and if trading him is now a possibility. (Spoiler alert--that ain't happening)As for Miller, he did have a decent 2024 campaign with six sacks and a few big plays, including one in the divisional round but is that enough for Patrick to want him back in 2025 on a restructured deal or another incentive-laced pay cut? Patrick explains why he thinks keeping him around is a bad idea and probably prohibits other things from happening. Also, did 2024 prove that the Bills passing game can consistently work without a true No. 1 wide receiver? That plus a Cooper Dejean miss, taking one player from any team in the NFL debate, the best Buffalo weekend you could offer a visitor and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. What A New Josh Allen Contract May Look Like

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss several Buffalo Bills and NFL topics, including what type of contract Josh Allen may end up getting if the organization decides to give him a new deal this offseason.Patrick admittedly isn't much of a contract, numbers or salary cap guy at all. However, Matt is and has been doing some looking into what a new Allen deal could look like. He has several thoughts on it as well as a few comparisons to potentially go by.They also spend some time going over some possible Bills restructures that both make sense and could create extra cap room for Buffalo. They'll need some of it to re-sign at least a few of their own pending free agents, and the guy chime in on who they think Brandon Beane should prioritize. They also discuss what kind of financial and overall team shape the rest of the AFC east is going in and Patrick's blown away by the opportunity that may be awaiting New England. That plus where does Aaron Rodgers fit for 2025 and tons more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Pressure Mounts For Buffalo Bills & Sabres GM's

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to discuss the respective general managers of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, Brandon Beane and Kevyn Adams finding themselves with the pressure cranked up to get things done in the coming weeks for varying reasons. It doesn't take a genius general manager or any sort of football guy to watch the Super Bowl and realize the true formula for success against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs is to create pressure with a four man rush with a dominant defensive line. Sure, the Bills have been within a field goal of the Chiefs in the past two playoffs but have fallen short for a handful of reasons, none so more than their inability to get defensive stops and pressure on Mahomes. The guys talk about several options out there in the coming weeks for Beane and the Bills and the intense pressure he's probably feeling to take a big swing at edge and/or interior defensive line, whether it's via trade or prominent free agent(s).As for the Sabres, they're cellar dwelling 54 games into the season as the league shuts down for two weeks for the 4 Nations Face Off. Chris has several thoughts on what Adams can and should do during this time to try and make a big move to help his team, assuming of course he remains on as general manager. If he does the NHL trade deadline is March 7th and you have to assume he'll do at least something. Chris discusses several possibilities in addition to what could happen with pending unrestricted free agents like Jason Zucker and Jordan Greenway as well as a handful of restricted free agents pending, including Ryan McLeod, JJ Peterka and Bowen Bryam.Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Josh Allen MVP, Bills Super Bowl Memories & The Philly Formula

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including Josh Allen winning MVP, former coach Dick Jauron passing away, Buffalo Bills Super Bowl memories and instant reaction to this Chiefs vs Eagles Super Bowl Sunday.Unlike several Bills fans and a few media/content creators, Patrick and Joe didn't boycott this Super Bowl and react to it just minutes after the game is completed. But that's just a small portion of today's episode. The guys spend some time reminiscing from Buffalo's four consecutive Super Bowl appearances as best as they can remember, the highs and lows during that four year stretch. It's definitely a trip down memory lane and Patrick also researched some fun fact (well many not so fun) during that time that he had forgotten and many Bills fans probably did as well. They also have a fun little exercise exploring what former Bills player from the Super Bowl era they'd most want to be on this year's team if they could pick anyone besides Bruce Smith. They also discuss what their reaction was to Josh Allen winning MVP last week, former coach Dick Jauron passing away, special teams coach Matthew Smiley getting fired, favorite non-Bills Super Bowls and tons more during this packed episode!Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Buffalo Sports Talk, Plus Are Bills Fans Really Boycotting Super Bowl?

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective to discuss a variety of topics and teams, including the Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Bandits in addition to thoughts on a Super Bowl this Sunday that apparently many Bills fans are boycotting. Many Bills fans are still mad that the Kansas City Chiefs are the AFC representative in the Super Bowl for a third straight year after defeating Buffalo in the conference championship game. Some annoyed the Bills lost and others still thinking the officials helped KC win, to the point in some minds that the game was rigged. As a result many are claiming to boycott the game. Patrick has several thoughts on this, thinking most saying they're not watching it are full of crap as well as reaction to those who actually are going to skip it.PK's then asked for some perspective on the 2024 Bills season and elaborates on some of his favorite things and moments from what was a fun campaign. He also puts on his GM hat and gives some insight as to what he thinks Brandon Beane should be prioritizing this offseason. The attention turns to the Sabres and Patrick's still extremely angry at the organization, especially after the Tage Thompson cheap shot non-response last week that he refuses to move past. How does PK feel about that incident, the direction of the club and what may lie ahead for them? That plus the Bandits remain elite in lacrosse and much more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. How Should The Buffalo Bills Handle Greg Rousseau This Offseason?

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes through several listener submitted questions and takes in a "Podbag", including how the Buffalo Bills should handle star defensive end Greg Rousseau this offseason.Rousseau is locked into the Bills for 2025 with his fifth-year option, but could become a free agent after that. He was far-and-away the team's most consistently good front four defender this past season but doesn't come out without concerns. Patrick talks about the pros and cons of general manager Brandon Beane working on an extension for him this offseason to avoid Groot potentially landing somewhere else in 2026 while explaining what some of the team drawbacks could be from a long term deal.Another listener takes issue with Buffalo possibly jeopardizing their future to land a big fish via trade in the coming weeks, perhaps someone like Myles Garrett or Max Crosby. Patrick discusses how you only get so many cracks at the biggest prize during Josh Allen's prime years and is done worrying about draft capital and other factors as it pertains to being all-in to win a Super Bowl now.Other Bills topics discussed including what may happen with Matt Milano this offseason, the James Cook pitch count and loading up on more defensive lineman in the draft. That plus Patrick's asked to explain why he hates the Buffalo Sabres right now more than ever, a recommendation for a good new TV series and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Biggest Buffalo Bills Offseason Dilemmas

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss some of the biggest dilemmas that Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills will be facing coming up soon this offseason.Beane and his staff have difficult decisions to make every offseason and this one will certainly be no different. Among the topics Patrick and Matt go over is if Buffalo will keep, restructure and cut Matt Milano and/or Von Miller and it comes clear you can make a case to keep one, both or none.Extensions could also play a huge role in the shape of this offseason. Greg Rousseau, James Cook, Khalil Shakir, Terrell Bernard and Christian Benford among others are all slated to go into the final years of their respective contracts. How many should be extended if possible and what should the pecking order be? Patrick admits to having some reservations about a few players based on how the postseason played out.The guys also chat about what they think should happen with the starting cornerback spot alongside Benford, feelings about Cole Bishop becoming a starter next year and a confidence in level in Keon Coleman taking a big step in his second year. They also have thoughts on a potential Garrett Myles trade, the Super Bowl on Sunday, a potential league rule change and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Plenty To Celebrate For 2024 Buffalo Bills

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran moves past the disappointing of the Buffalo Bills losing in the AFC championship to focus on plenty of reasons the team and fans have to celebrate a successful 2024 season.Losing to the Chiefs for the fourth time in five years was and remains a bitter pillow to swallow for sure. That said, there's a lot of things that went well enough for Buffalo to be able to look back on fondly. Patrick hits on a lot of those things, including a team that tied a franchise record for most wins in a season, went undefeated at home for the first time since 1991 and just the third time in team history, tied a NFL record by scoring at least 30 points in eight straight games and leading the AFC in points differential.Josh Allen probably won't win MVP but Patrick has maintained he deserves it. He spends a segment explaining exactly why, highlighting his ability to do more with less in 2024 and often saving his best games and moments for the biggest stages. He also talks about the offensive line being every bit as good as it was last year, Brandon Beane making mostly right moves with in-house evaluations during the offseason and Mack Hollins turning into a great free agent addition. That plus some quick thoughts on Myles Garrett requesting a trade, Lindsey Moppert departing WGRZ-TV and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 979What We Got Right & Wrong About The 2024 Buffalo Bills

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including going back to revisit their Buffalo Bills individual and team predictions made before the 2024 season started, figuring out what they got right and wrong. In an episode that dropped before the season started, Patrick and Joe each made 20 Bills predictions for the season. Most inaccurate predictions discussed included Patrick thinking Tyler Bass wasn't going to finish the season with the team as well as Ray Davis coming close to James Cook's production, while and thought the Bills would win just nine games and not be a top ten team in scoring. They also got plenty right, which leads to a fun conversation and a lot more perspective on a season that culminated by making it to the AFC championship game, which is farther than most people had them going. They also spend a few minutes talking about the Buffalo Sabres, who won their third straight game on Sunday but that doesn't stop Patrick from ripping into them after they failed to take up for star forward Tage Thompson taking a cheap shot to his head. The guys also react to the wild Luka Doncic/Anthony Davis NBA trade, have several thoughts on this weekend's WWE Royal Rumble and tons more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 978Beane, McDermott Presser Bills Reactions, Plus Sabres Talk

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chris Ostrander from Two in the Box blog and The Instigator Podcast to react to Buffalo Bills season ending press conferences from Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott in addition to discussing a Buffalo Sabres team Chris covers closely.Chris is a very well respected blogger and podcaster in the Sabres community in addition to being plenty knowledgeable about the Bills and all things Buffalo, sports and otherwise. It's his first time doing Talking Buffalo and Patrick's excited because he's always been a fan of Chris' work. Both Beane and McDermott spoke at length with the media on Thursday morning/afternoon and the guys react to what was said. As expected there wasn't any gasp worthy statements from either general manager or coach, but there's some lines that could be read between and both Patrick and Chris share opinions on what was said and their feelings about the team right now. With Bills season over it's time to start devoting more attention to the Sabres (for better and worse) and that's a big reason why Patrick has Chris on. He kind of gives casual fans who've been all-in on the BIlls but transitioning over to the Sabres more now an update on what's been going on with the team this season and spoiler alert---it's been a disaster. They talk about Lindy Ruff, how this team is dead last in the Eastern Conference, a big trade target, why they stink so bad at home, if Keyvn Adams will/should be GM at the trade deadline, how quickly this team can realistically turn things around and tons more.Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. This episode of Talking Buffalo features a Podbag, where the listeners control their topics of the show with their comments, takes and questions and Patrick Moran goes though and replies to several of them, all Buffalo Bills related. These episodes are a favorite but hard to do regularly during the Bills season, between recap, game takeaways and preview shows. However with the season now officially over for Buffalo, fans have plenty to say and Patrick goes through a lot of submissions, some of which are overreactions and others pretty spot on.Among the things discussed is Sean McDermott's track record and how much of the blame he should receive for Buffalo's latest playoff failure against Kansas City. While Patrick thinks some of the takes on McDermott are too harsh and over the top, he's a lot more critical of Sean's coordinators that Patrick thinks dropped the ball in KC, Joe Brady and Bobby Babich. There's also some very harsh sentiments towards Dalton Kincaid addressed as well as wondering why the Bills don't utilize some of their wide receivers. That plus Patrick's seen enough of Damar Hamlin, Kaiir Elam and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 976Bills GM Brandon Beane Deserves Some Heat Too

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss a variety of Buffalo Bills related topics, including general manager Brandon Beane deserving his fair share of criticism and blame after the Bills fell to Kansas City on Sunday and failed to reach the Super Bowl.Coaching was definitely an issue at times with Buffalo in a narrow three point loss as was a handful of players who woefully underperformed when the Bills needed it most. Both areas have been the target of criticism but Beane deserves to get his slice of the blame pie as well. The guys talk about how while he's made a lot of terrific veteran personnel decisions and nailed some draft picks, he's also made some mistakes with highly touted players that really hurt the Bills on Sunday.Among them discussed is first-round draft pick Dalton Kincaid, who had a nightmare at Arrowhead on Sunday, as well as Bills first pick from this year's class, Keon Coleman, who had just one catch on the day and only three for the entire playoffs. Sprinkle in Kaiir Elam, who's proved to be an absolute bust and you have a high drafting problem in Buffalo. Hell, you can even add in how first round pick Greg Rousseau kind of threw away a very good regular season by faceplanting against Kansas City. There's also the Von Miller situation, the trade for Amari Cooper who never really lived up to the hype this season and other moves discussed Beane's at least partially on the hook for. They also go back to coaching and discuss some of the key elements of the game, including a pair of revealing comments about not knowing what the Chiefs were going to do in keyi spots of the game from two Buffalo veteran starters. That plus an exploratory look on how things may play out for Buffalo this offseason and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 975You Can't Always Get What You Want (Biggest Bills Takeaways)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran shares all of his biggest takeaways after watching back the game film of the Buffalo Bills heartbreaking 32-29 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game, failing to beat Kansas City in the playoffs for the fourth time in five years. There's simply no getting around it---the Bills losing a game they lead going into the fourth quarter is a bitter pill to have to swallow. To quote The Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want" and Patrick spends time at the beginning talking about how much this game meant to Bills fans all over the world, including a story of his son getting formally introduced to the cult of tortured Buffalo sports fans with this latest crushing loss. How did it happen? Well, Patrick has plenty of thoughts on several keys factors, beginning with his opinions that the Chiefs coached circles around the Bills staff---pointing out several specific examples. At the end of the day however, players gotta go and play and Patrick discusses several of them that picked the most inopportune time possible to have horrible games, including Dalton Kincaid, Greg Rousseau, Terrell Bernard and Damar Hamlin.Of course, it wouldn't be a close Chiefs game without some BS official decisions going their way and Patrick hits on a few of them, stating that while it's not the reason the Bills lost it's fair to say they directly swung the momentum of the game. That plus a few standouts on film, early feelings on putting the season in perspective and tons more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 974Bills Blow Chance For Super Bowl (Live Reactions)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens just minutes following the conclusion of the Buffalo Bills season falling short, again against the Kansas City Chiefs, 32-29 in the AFC championship. The discuss all of it, including a defense that yet again failed them in an elimination game, blown opportunities on the offensive side of the ball and guys simply not stepping up when it mattered most.Dalton Kincaid had a critical drop and also failed to pick up a first down earlier in a drive that mattered. Damar Hamlin was brutal, ditto for Kaiir Elam who looked like he had no business being on the field. Greg Rousseau had arguably the worst game of his Buffalo Bills career. The Bills couldn't use their unstoppable tush push successfully. In fact it arguably helped contribute to them losing the game. Of course, there was a controversial call that clearly went against Buffalo. Add it all up, and the Bills fall short again. Not going to lie and there's no getting around it--it's a sickening feeling.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 973Bills vs Chiefs AFC Title Preview & Bold Predictions

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Jarrett Bailey of The Sporting News for a full Buffalo Bills vs Kansas City Chiefs preview, including keys to a Buffalo victory, bold predictions from each and a stab at the final score. The pressure is high for both teams, obviously heading into this conference title clash. For the Bills it's all about getting over the hump to reach the Super Bowl, something that the Chiefs have personally stopped three times already during this Sean McDermott/Josh Allen era. It's also a legacy game of sorts for both Buffalo head coach and quarterback. Meanwhile for Kansas City they're two games away from winning a third straight Super Bowl, something that's never been done in NFL history. The guys spend time talking about the significance of both.Jarrett has plenty of unbiased insight on both teams coming in, from Kansas City being literally unbeatable in one score games over the past two seasons as a team that simply never beats themselves, to the Bills and their newfound identity that isn't statistically pleasing like it's been in the past but arguably the most balanced team during the McDermott era. From there Patrick has keys to the game for a Buffalo victory he shares, ranging from dancing to what's brought them there to a commitment to not letting Travis Kelce roam wild through the Bills pass defense. They also share some bold predictions from the game, including a return to form of sorts for Allen, score predictions from each and tons more. You can follow Jarrett on Twitter at @JBaileyNFL and be sure to check out his work both at The Sporting News and Behind The Steel Curtain (SB Nation).Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 972Storylines & Talking Points Emerging For Bills vs Chiefs

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Mike Bundt from Trainwreck Sports to go over several of the biggest storylines and talking points emerging as the Buffalo Bills get ready to face the Kanas City Chiefs on Sunday for the AFC championship.A trip to the Super Bowl is on the line and Mike has some interesting observations and thoughts on many things that are discussed, including the high stakes pressure with both teams. Buffalo's is obvious reasons, as the organization tries to finally get over the hump and make their first Super Bowl throughout the Josh Allen/Sean McDermott era and their first as an organization since 1994. Meanwhile the Chiefs are trying to become the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons. The guys also discuss how several key players were missing on both teams the first time these teams met during the regular season, an opportunity for the Buffalo running game to be strong against what's been a leaky Chiefs run defense, officiating historically being (strongly) on the Chiefs side in the postseason and how Buffalo need slow down Patrick Mahomes, who's always on another level come playoff time. They also talk about what they think each team fears most about their opponent, X-factors for the game and tons more. Ep 971Why Bills Confidence Should Be High Going To KC

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss several topics, including pouring over some of the reasons the Buffalo Bills should feel confident heading to Kansas City for their AFC championship game against the Chiefs on Sunday evening. The Bills are headed to the conference title game for the first time since 2020, when they went to Arrowhead and lost to the Chiefs, 38-20. A lot has obviously changed since then, or has it? The guys have a discussion about how Kansas City has remained the creme of the crop in the AFC (and NFL) and even when they win close and/or ugly games, what matters most if they always win. Plus, it seems over the past few years that guys like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones and others always ramp up their games in their postseason. That said, Buffalo has plenty of things to be confident about. The guys talk about how for starters, they beat them earlier the season in Orchard Park. The guys also discuss the Bills ability to score on anyone, including two dominant defenses already in the playoffs as well as they're familiarity with the Chiefs, Josh Allen not turning the ball over and an overall vibe about this year's Bills team we've been talking about all season. That plus discussing a few X-factors, lingering Baltimore Ravens thoughts and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 970Biggest Buffalo Bills Divisional Round Win Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over some of his biggest takeaways on the heels of the Buffalo Bills holding off the Baltimore Ravens, 27-25 to advance to the AFC championship game next Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. As expected but no less annoying, the main national narrative stemming from this game is more about Baltimore finding a way to lose than the Bills earning the victory. It's something Patrick takes great issue with and points out several key ways in which the Bills are not getting nearly enough credit for, including great individual plays that forced all three Ravens turnovers, game planning and committing to not letting Derrick Henry run wild on them, the Bills rushing for more yards in the first half than the Ravens give up per game, going a perfect three-for-three in the red zone in the first half and being completely clean in the turnover department on their end.Patrick also spends time highlighting how much better the Bills were in the trenches on both sides of the ball this time around compared to their first meeting in Baltimore back in Week four. In that game the Bills were bullied all over the field along the lines, and that was clearly not the case this past Sunday night.Patrick also has thoughts on people who are vigorously either defending or lambasting Lamar Jackson's performance in this game, Baltimore's suspect game plan and coaching, Joe Brady not being at his best, a few things the Bills need to improve at if they're going to knock off the Chiefs to get the Super Bowl and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 969Buffalo Bills Survive & Advance To AFC Title Game (Instant Live Reactions)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens literally just moments after the Buffalo Bills survived the Baltimore Ravens in a wild finish, 27-25 to advance to next week's AFC title game in Kanas City. The guys discuss the good, bad and ugly and there was plenty of all---but in the end all that matters is the Bills are going to their first AFC championship game since 2020, when they lost in Kansas City. The Bills were clearly the better team in the first half, racking up 87 yards on the ground and going three for three in the red zone while getting two defensive takeaways to go into the locker room with a 21-10 lead and a chance to put the game essentially away by getting the ball to start the second half. But the second half was a different story, the Ravens defense shut down the Bills running game and Allen couldn't get anything significant going in the air. The defense also crumbled to the Lamar Jackson the second half. However, Terrel Bernard had a huge forced fumble in the fourth quarter that ultimately provided the winning points. The guys talk about all this and much in pretty emotional instant reaction fashion as well as turning it's energy towards Kansas City.Follow Joe on Blue Sky @BuffaloWins.bluesky.social.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 968Alex Brasky Talks Bills vs Ravens & Legacy Game For Sean McDermott

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Batavia Daily News sports editor Alex Brasky to go over several critical points one more time before the Buffalo Bills take on the Baltimore Ravens in elimination playoff football Sunday, including examining how much of a legacy game this is for Bills head coach Sean McDermott.Alex has been at One Bills Drive all week as the Bills prepare for Baltimore on Sunday and Patrick asks him to describe what the vibe's been like there, as Buffalo is in the unusual spot of being a home underdog despite not having a loss all season in Orchard Park. How much does that Week four game when Baltimore pounded Buffalo play a part on the betting line so many months later? It's certainly for health and injury reasons. The guys talk about how much heathier Buffalo is coming into this game compared to earlier this season against Baltimore and last year at this time in their three point AFC divisional playoff heartbreaking loss to Kansas City. Also, Alex has thoughts on how much of a legacy game this is for McDermott. The Bills head coach has a 6-6 playoff record but has often got stuck at this point of the postseason. He's often compared by Bills fans to Marty Schottenheimer, an unfair comparison and it's discussed how best-case we may be seeing with Sean what happened with Bill Cowher and Tony Dungy years ago. Regardless, the guys talk about how important a win would be to his legacy and how much another loss in this round may tarnish it.That plus the significance of Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones playing great for Buffalo on Sunday, who much the weather and home field should matter, a couple of Bills X-factors and plenty more. You can follow Alex on Twitter @AlexBrasky and check out his work at the Batavia Daily News.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 967Bills vs Ravens Preview, Keys To Winning & Bold Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran brings a full playoff preview of the Buffalo Bills hosting the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round Sunday in Orchard Park, including keys to a Bills victory, bold predictions for the game and a stab at picking the final score. With the seasons Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson have had, it almost felt like fate that the two would meet in the postseason. Unfortunately the quarterback that loses is probably going to have some narratives unfairly raised about them, as Patrick explains.Hopefully for the Bills the rematch goes better than the first meeting back in Week four when the Ravens pounded Buffalo in prime time, 35-10. Patrick offers plenty of perspective looking back at the game, from the Bills injuries to as assortment of other things that went wrong. From there it's some talk about both teams before settling into Buffalo's biggest keys to victory, which unquestionably revolve around the Bills defensive tackle tandem of Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones. Plus, can the Bills win this game if Allen doesn't have the better day than Jackson?Bold predictions include a big day for a pair of Buffalo boundary receivers, a defensive star player performing like one and possibly the most juiciest bold prediction we've had on the show the entire year. That plus a gutsy final score prediction and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 966Several Reasons To Like Buffalo Over Ravens In Playoff Rematch

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss among other things several reasons to like the Buffalo Bills in a playoff rematch over the Baltimore Ravens this coming Sunday, despite a growing sentiment that the Bills are actually the underdogs going in.On Sunday night's opening betting line the Bills were a 1.5 favorite but less than 24 hours later the Ravens were favored in Vegas by the same margin. There's plenty of reasons for gamblers, fans and media like to give the edge to Baltimore----they're red hot, have six All-Pros on their roster including the now MVP betting favorite in Lamar Jackson, a stud running back and a defense that's been the best in the NFL over the second half of the season. Oh, there's also the matter that Baltimore crushed Buffalo at home all the way back in Week four of the regular season, 35-10.Still, there's also plenty of reasons to like Buffalo's chances in this rematch and the guys spend a big chunk of the show talking about them. Among them is a lot of key players back for Buffalo that didn't play the Ravens earlier this season, Josh Allen taking his game to another level, literally in the playoffs, the potential to sustain drives and keep Baltimore off the field, and a potentially impactful injury to the Ravens if 1,000-yard wide receiver Zay Flowers (knee) can't make it back. There's other factors discussed too, including the Bills being experts at harnessing at what they deem disrespect into motivation, Jackson having a spotty playoff history and perhaps most importantly, the game being in Orchard Park instead of Baltimore this time around.Plus, are the Ravens players quietly as cocky about this game as most their fans? That, other things to like about Sunday, thoughts on the Kansas City/Houston game and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 965Buffalo Bills Biggest Wild Card Round Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over his biggest Buffalo Bills wildcard round takeaways on the heels of Buffalo's convincing win over Denver and how at least some of them my relate to their next opponent, Baltimore in the divisional round. The Bills gave up a big play for a touchdown to Denver on the opening series and then shut the door on them for the rest of the game. Patrick has thoughts on Matt Milano having by far his best game of the season and Von Miller, even without registering the sack turning back the clock with some extremely impressive pass rush reps.Offensively the game plan was obvious from the get go and Patrick's got thoughts on the complete transformation James Cook has made since entering the NFL primarily as a pass catching threat out of the backfield. The Bills running game coupled with the explosive plays that came in the air in the second half is the recipe for making this a long playoff run. They were plenty of other things to like and some not so much, including Taylor Rapp struggling, another special teams blunder and a red zone offense that while not costly against Denver, didn't execute well.Of course, it's all about Baltimore going forward and Patrick's got preliminary thoughts on that matchup and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 964Bills Systematically Destroy Denver (Live Reactions)

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens shortly after the Buffalo Bills systematically destroyed the Denver Broncos, 31-7 to win their AFC Wildcard game and set up what's expected to an epic clash with Baltimore next week.Joe joins from Florida, where he's staying before a family vacation to Mexico. They talk about a Bills team that overcame a huge play from the Broncos on the first series of the game to methodically pound Denver in submission, just completely dominating in nearly every facet of the game. Buffalo put up 471 yards of offense while possessing the ball for over 41 minutes while allowing Denver just 224 yards of offense, with 43 of that coming on a Bo Nix touchdown pass to Troy Franklin on the fifth play of the game. The guys talk about a Bills team that refused to get panicked under any circumstance and stuck to a running game that the Broncos couldn't stop. They also discuss Josh Allen having another MVP caliber performance and getting several pass catchers involved.Of course even a blowout there's a few plays that really shape a football game and the guys discuss a few of them, including the Ty Johnson miraculous catch on fourth down to take a 21-7 and Curtis Samuel's big 55 yard catch and run for a score to put the game away. They go over all the highlights and a few of the lowlights as well and quickly turn their attention to Baltimore. Ep 963Bills vs Broncos Preview & Bold Predictions (Featuring Ben Allbright)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full Buffalo Bills vs Denver Broncos wildcard round preview as well as keys to victory and bold predictions, featuring a segment with Broncos reporter and NFL insider Benjamin Allbright. Many expect the Broncos to be the Bills toughest wildcard round opponent throughout this Josh Allen era. Patrick brings in Allbright, one of the most respected NFL voices in the business who's based in Denver for his expertise.Among the topics discussed during Ben's time is the vibe in Denver following a nine-year playoff drought being broken, the emergence of rookie Bo Nix after witnessing several years of floundering quarterback play, the Denver pass rushers on a Broncos defense that led the entire NFL in sacks this season, what areas of the Broncos should concern their fans the most and a few of the biggest factors in what could be an upset Denver victory on Sunday. From there Patrick goes over what he considers three of the biggest keys to Buffalo holding serve at home and advancing to next week's divisional round, including the defense being on point when it comes to tackling, an offensive line that plays up to the standard they have all season, and avoiding the whacky mistakes that led to Denver winning in Buffalo last season. That plus some fun bold predictions, a final score guess from both Ben and Patrick and much more.Follow Benjamin Allbright on Twitter @AllbrightNFL.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 962Buffalo Bills Wild Card Round Biggest Talking Points

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend Tone Pucks for the first time in a quite awhile for a conversation focused on the biggest talking points as the Buffalo Bills get ready for Denver in NFL wildcard round playoff action on Sunday. The episode is recorded live from Mooney's Sports Bar & Grill, 1531 Military Road. It's Tone's first time back on the show since the beginning of September before the Bills regular season started and after a few minutes it becomes obvious his intention is to highjack the show, They jump right into a talk surrounding several talking points and important factors as Buffalo readies for another playoff run-when Pucks is in the mood too.Among the topics is discussed at length is coming to the realization that if the Bills are truly Super Bowl contenders, fans and the media shouldn't be TOO concerned about facing a Denver team that while certainly good, hasn't been to the playoffs since 2015 and features a rookie quarterback, something Sean McDermott has historically feasted on.That said it would be shortsighted to not have any concerns. The guys talk about why Denver is clearly the best football team the Bills have faced in the wildcard round during the Josh Allen era and elements of the Bills that can be worrisome, such as being heavily reliant on takeaways with the defense and the tough task of taming a pretty ferocious Denver pass rush. That plus thoughts on McDermott going with Damar Hamlin over Cole Bishop at safety, Matt Milano sitting out the season finale last week, Bills X-factors for the game, a prediction from Tone Pucks and much more.Big thanks again to Mooney's Sports Bar & Grill for being a gracious host as well as great food and vibes. Easily one of the best places to go in the Kenmore/Tonawanda area for a good time.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly chat, this week focused on stepping back a little to appreciate the Buffalo Bills 2024 regular season before we get started with the suddenness of the NFL playoffs this weekend. When it gets to be this time of year, your season could end with just one less than stellar afternoon. That's the way it goes in single elimination tournaments. Patrick and Matt spend a good chunk time focusing on making sure to enjoy these past four months for the Buffalo Bills, especially considering what most people thought this campaign would look like for Buffalo. Patrick goes as far to call this one of his most enjoyable seasons following the Bills. To really appreciate the Bills the guys take a look at how the AFC east shockingly crumbled around Buffalo this year, especially with two teams that many thought were better than the Bills going into 2024, Miami and the New York Jets. They discuss how not only was this season brutal for the two but the short term future doesn't appear all that great right now either. From there Matt has plenty of thoughts on Buffalo drawing Denver in the wildcard round. They also talk about Damar Hamlin being named starter by Sean McDermott earlier this week to squash any potential starting safety controversy, thoughts on the rest of the playoffs and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it’s a great place to drink and have a great time.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices.
