Ep 942Are The Bills Headed Towards A Matt Milano Dilemma?

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss a myriad of Buffalo Bills & NFL topics, including a discussion on if the Bills are headed towards a Matt Milano dilemma. The former All-Pro linebacker returned to the Bills lineup two games ago and the rust is clearly there. We've seen (very) small signs of how great Milano can be here and there but by large, he's got a ways to go. The guys have a discussion on how long of a leash Sean McDermott and Bobby Babich should give Milano to see if the problem is simply rust that'll get shaken off with more reps over the next few weeks, or if he's going to be 2022 Tre White and 2023 Von Miller where his spot on the field is a liability, in which case they should go back to Dorian Williams for the playoffs. They also talk about McDermott's latest significant in-game coaching gaffe and Matt's asked for what his confidence is in the Bills head coach. Sure, he learns from his mistakes but he also creatively finds new ones to make far too often. Also, they spend some time just appreciating what Josh Allen brings to the team and not taking for granted how much fun it is to watch him play. That plus Patrick wonders about something in the future involving Taron Johnson, a strong Khalil Shakir comparison, the latest with the AFC and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 941Buffalo Bills Biggest Week 14 Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over several of his biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways after their seven-game winning streak ended in Los Angeles on Sunday despite an unprecedented six total touchdowns without a turnover from Josh Allen.Allen's day was historic, literally but it wasn't enough to overcome the disgraceful performance from his defense, special teams and coaching. Patrick breaks down so many of the things that went wrong to spoil their offense dominance, including key defensive players like Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, Taron Johnson, Rasul Douglas and even Christian Benford being no shows. Patrick's annoyance with Oliver is reaching its peak--how does a guy with this much perceived talent and play making ability have one sack for the entire season?Special teams has been an underlying problem quite often this season and none so more than this game, with Reid Ferguson being directly responsible for six Rams points. As for Sean McDermott, Patrick explains why he did himself no favors from the critics who think he's a choke artist in big moments of games. While McDermott certainly isn't nor should be in danger of losing his job, it's fair to be wary of the Bills ever getting over the hump with the types of in-game decisions the head coach often makes. As for Allen, Patrick talks about how the MVP race is now essentially over and goes one step further, saying that Allen's the best player in the NFL right now. That plus other guys stepping up on offense, some big picture perspective and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 940Bills Defense & Coaching Gets Disgraceful in LA (Live Instant Reaction)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for instant reactions almost immediately following the conclusion of the Buffalo Bills getting a MVP performance from Josh Allen but still lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 44-42 because of a disgraceful defensive effort.Allen did everything a human being could do to carry his team to a win. He threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 82 yards and three more touchdowns. Six touchdowns, 422 yards of offense and zero turnovers--and Buffalo still lost. The only thing that stopped Allen and Buffalo offense was the defense, a unit that came into this game one of the better in the league but that was certainly not the case in Los Angeles. Buffalo's defense was outclassed and manhandled on all three levels---defensive line, linebacker and secondary. The guys talk about how quite literally, no one on the entire side of the ball had a positive outing. The coaching was also terrible too. The guys question what the hell Sean McDermott was thinking using that first timeout after a failed Allen quarterback sneak that took away the option of kicking deep. McDermott also accepted a holding penalty instead of the Rams being faced with fourth and seven. This is one of the more animated conversations Patrick and Joe have had and with good reason.Follow Joe on Blue Sky @BuffaloWins.bluesky.social.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 939Buffalo Bills vs Rams Preview & Bold Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Rams blogger Blaine Grisak of Turf Show Times (SB Nation) for a preview of the Buffalo Bills vs Los Angeles Rams game coming up Sunday, including keys to victory for each team, bold predictions and a final score guess. The Bills have won seven in a row, are 10-2 on the season and chasing the top overall seed in the AFC. Meanwhile the Rams are stuck in neutral at 6-6 and in a fight both in the NFC west as well as a wild card possibility. Translation---it's a big game for both teams.Patrick asks Blaine plenty of questions about the Rams from the perspective of someone covering the team, including a very young defensive line that has arguably turned into the biggest asset they have on the team. Conversely the offense has struggled to maintain any consistency, even with proven talent like Matt Stafford, Kyren Williams, Cooper Kupp and Puca Nucua. They both offer their keys to a win, with Patrick focused on the Bills offensive line, holding the Rams to field goal opportunities and simply not allowing themselves to look ahead to Detroit next week. Bold predictions are made for both teams as well, with Patrick thinking Josh Allen's due for a season-high in passing yards while Blaine boldly predicts Stafford will outplay the current MVP betting favorite. That plus will the guys agree on who wins with their score predictions and much more. Beg sure to follow Turf Show Times for Rams coverage, especially this week.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 938Jay Skurski On Micah Hyde & Bills Culture (Plus The Sabres Stink)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News to discuss Micah Hyde signing to the Buffalo Bills practice squad and also revisiting some summer Bills talking points in addition to ranting on the Buffalo Sabres after their epic home ice meltdown Tuesday night. It had been rumored going all the way back to training camp and finally became a reality on Tuesday as longtime Bills safety Micah Hyde officially signed with the Bills practice squad. On the surface it seems the 33-year old will be more of a factor with his leadership off the field than on it. Jay has thoughts on whether it'll take an injury(s) to see Hyde end up actually playing for the Bills, what he thinks he brings to the table this late in the season and what if anything it means for Damar Hamlin. The guys also revisit Jay being on the show alongside Nate Geary shortly before the Bills regular season starting and talking about how one of the best things the team had going for them was a lot of people counting them out, not to mention Josh Allen being voted the most overrated player in the NFL. Spoiler alert---he's not and just won another AFC Offensive Player of the Week award as well.Jay may cover the Bills for a living but he's also a Sabres fan and frustrated one at that. They go over that historic Buffalo home collapse against Colorado a few nights ago, the first time in franchise history the Sabres blew a 4-0 lead at home. Among other things, Jay talks about feeling sorry for head coach Lindy Ruff. That and plenty more! You can follow Jay on Twitter @JaySkurski and be sure to support local journalism by subscribing to The Buffalo News.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 937Buffalo Bills Role Players Making 2024 Special

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics, including spotlighting some of the role players that have been making this 2024 season special.Josh Allen has been playing out of his mind and is a clear-cut frontrunner for MVP. He's not only a star in Buffalo but one of the biggest in the league if not all of sports. There's other "star" players on this team too but it's been the heavy contribution of several role/complimentary players that've allowed them to win 10 of their first 12 games. Some of the players specifically discussed by Patrick and Matt include Mack Hollins, Taylor Rapp, Dawson Knox, Dorian Williams, Ray Davis, Austin Johnson and Alec Anderson. They also talk about the job head coach Sean McDermott and wonder if McDermott's evolved both professionally and personally in regards to his relationships with the team over the past year. That plus realizing the Bills have been better off because of last offseason's departures, a look around the AFC and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 936Buffalo Bills Biggest Week 13 Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses some of his biggest Week 13 takeaways for the Buffalo Bills on the hells of their lopsided 35-10 shellacking of San Francisco this past snowy Sunday night to improve to 10-2 on the season. The comfort of being home and knowing a raucous crowd will be behind you has always given the Bills a home field advantage late in the season and into the playoffs. However, Patrick discusses how the style of play and roster makeup for previous editions of the Bills in recent years didn't feel like they were suited to play their best in wintery Western New York. That's no longer the case as this year's team has underwent a huge identity shift on offense and the result is a (much) more physical brand of football that allows them to beat teams in several ways. While continuing to state he doesn't much care about the MVP race, Patrick admits it's at the point where he's at a loss for words if there's anyone out there who doesn't think Josh Allen is the league's most valuable player right now. This game is discussed as well as a shift in Josh's mental approach has him playing perhaps the best of his entire career.Other takeaways discussed is the emergence of Taylor Rapp as a weapon, an early game penalty on San Francisco that turned the tide of the game more than people think, a dominant performance from the offensive line, who was responsible for allowing two long Deebo Samuel kickoff return, one area of the team that's still concerning and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 935Bills vs 49ers Instant Live Reaction

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for instant live reaction in the moments immediately following the Buffalo Bills absolutely dominating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football, scoring at least 30 points for a sixth straight game to improve to 10-2.If there were any doubt that Josh Allen is the frontrunner for NFL MVP it was probably erased tonight. Playing barely more than three quarters Allen threw for two touchdowns, ran for one and for good measure actually caught one (not a typo). More importantly he didn't turn the ball over. The guys talk about Buffalo taking control of the game going into the locker room, 21-3 behind 149 first half rushing yards. That was led by James Cook having 101 on nine first half carries, including a career-high 65 yard scoring run. They also talk about Dawson Knox stepping up nice in place of Dalton Kincaid, Matt Milano's long anticipated return, Greg Rousseau playing his way into All-Pro conversation, a few things about the games they didn't like and much more.Follow Joe on Blue Sky @BuffaloWins.bluesky.social.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 934Bills vs 49ers Preview & Bold Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full Buffalo Bills vs San Francisco 49ers preview of their upcoming prime time game on Sunday night in addition to some bold predictions and a final score guess.Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. Chances are everyone in the Bills organization did and with good reason---they're coming off a bye week with a 9-2 record and an opportunity to have the top overall seed in the AFC as we head down the stretch. Patrick spends a few minutes talking about what's gotten the Bills to the point, including being the best team in the NFL at taking the ball away compared to turning it over themselves. He also talks about the injuries, which besides Dalton Kincaid look incredibly promising for Sunday. As for the 49ers, the defending NFC champs are underwhelming at just 5-6 and much like the Bills, have been hit very hard all season long by injuries. Patrick discusses that including a trio of key 49ers who are anything but a lock to be playing on Sunday night----Nick Bosa, Trent Williams and Brock Purdy.Patrick goes over some of his biggest keys to a 10th Buffalo victory this season, including having the ability to shake off any rust early and don't let the turnover tendencies that've went there way flip around. From there it's bold predictions and among other things Patrick thinks it's time for rookie return man Brandon Codrinton to make a house call. That plus potential weather issues, a final score prediction and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. E

Happy Thanksgiving! On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is playing some of his favorite highlight clips from recent episodes of the show, mostly centered of course around the Buffalo Bills.Among those featured are before the season clips from conversations with Joe Marino of Locked on Bills, Nate Geary (WGR) and Jay Skurski (The Buffalo News) from Imperial Pizza, Carl Jones (WIVB) also from Imperial Pizza and Bruce Nolan (The Bruce Exclusive). There's also a highlight from a conversation with Matt Parrino regarding Damar Hamlin's play and a recent chat with PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective about the unselfish culture of the Bills as a team. There's also a recent clip from Joe Yerdon on which top six forward out there would make a great addition to the Buffalo Sabres in addition to some incredible life perspective from UB star linebacker Shaun Dolac. Ep 932Biggest Buffalo Bills Keys Down The Stretch

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly chat, this time focused on several of the biggest keys for the Buffalo Bills as they hit the stretch run of what's been a successful regular season through this point. The Bills are 9-2 and for all intents and purposes have already wrapped up the AFC east for a fifth straight season. That's well and good but this is a football team that has its sights set higher than just winning their division. The guys go over some of the biggest factors that await them in their quest to get over the hump and win an AFC championship. Some of the topics are quite obviously, especially Josh Allen continuing to play at a MVP level and the team getting some long overdue injury luck deep into the season. But there's other key factors as well, including Ed Oliver and the defensive tackles continue to ascend as the season goes on, Dalton Kincaid putting up the production we expected before the season started in September, the safety play remaining at least steady and not having a game potentially decided by a kick, even if Tyler Bass did drill a franchise-record 61-yarder to beat Miami a few weeks ago. They also spend some time examining the AFC, including a discussion on if they'd prefer Buffalo to face Denver or Miami in the first round. Patrick also has an unpopular opinion about the Kansas City Chiefs and much more. Ep 931Buffalo Sports Teams Are Riding High

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective to discuss the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and University at Buffalo football are riding high as we get close to the end of 2024.Most expected the Bills to be in the mix among the AFC top teams going into the season. However, few expected them to essentially have the AFC east locked away before Thanksgiving and be at least arguably one of the top two or three teams in NFL. The guys examine several factors that've allowed the Bills to start the season 9-2 and be very much in play for the top seed in the AFC.The Sabres started the season with just one win in their first six games but have since turned things around rather dramatically, including a three-game California road sweep this past week. PK has a lot of thoughts on the job Lindy Ruff's doing in his second run as Sabres head coach in addition to multiple offseason acquisitions keying the Sabres recent surge.UB football is in on the act as well this season, rebounding from 3-9 last year to 7-4 with an outside of chance of playing for the MAC championship and almost certainly headed towards a bowl game regardless. The guys talk about first-year head coach Pete Lembo being a central figure in UB's rise and Shaun Dolac becoming one of the best linebackers in the nation. That plus Thanksgiving's just a few days away and plenty more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 930Final Buffalo Bills Bye Week Reflections

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss a variety of topics, including some final reflections of the Buffalo Bills on their bye week in addition to the Buffalo Sabres getting on a hot streak. The Bills enjoyed their bye week with a record of 9-2. Patrick and Joe reflect on the season so far and what has stood out the most, the majority but not all of it good. This team is used to racking up AFC east titles and having plenty of regular season success, but Patrick insists that this year's team feels different. They also talk about all the injuries and the bye week possibly being a bridge for the return, including Matt Milano, Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid. It's feasible that we haven't seen the best of the Bills yet this season.Meanwhile, the Sabres have resurrected their season after a lousy start and the guys talk about them possibly becoming relevant again. Buffalo just won all three stops on a California swing for the first time since 1993 and to borrow a Bills phrase, everybody is eating on that team as well, evidenced by 10 different guys having a game-winning goal in their 11 wins so far. Are we ready to be believers in the Buffalo Sabres finally? The guys also talk about a wild Sunday in the NFL with the Chiefs barely beating the Panthers, the Miami Dolphins may be back, Houston is slipping and much more.Follow Joe on Blue Sky @BuffaloWins.bluesky.social.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Ep 929Buffalo Bills & Sabres Talk, Featuring Joe Yerdon

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by long lost buddy Joe Yerdon, creator of Noted Hockey to discuss several topics mostly surrounding the Buffalo Bills & Sabres.Once upon a time Joe was a weekly regular on Talking Buffalo but life and conflicting schedules happen. As result Joe joins Patrick for the first time since early August and for only the third time in 2024. Obviously that leads to having plenty to catch up on, including how Joe's job is going with both Noted Hockey and the Bleacher Report covering the Sabres. They talk about a Sabres team that's truly an enigma this season, starting the season with three straight losses and looking on the verge of buried several times but currently sit at 9-9-1 through 19 games and very much in the early mix for a playoff spot. What's going right for the team and also what's preventing them from being even better right now?Patrick also asks Joe, not a Bills fan but a "Bills watcher" for his opinions about the team as they hit the bye with a 9-2 record. How surprised is he by the team's success so far and what's stood out for him the most? Also, a matchup is looming between Buffalo and Joe's favorite team, the Detroit Lions. They also talk about UB's football team featuring star linebacker Shaun Dolac, the reason for the social media move for Joe and many others to Blue Sky and plenty more. Ep 928Stats Don't Tell The Story With The Buffalo Bills

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo it's another edition of The Podbag, where the audience controls the narrative and topics with their comments and questions submitted through social media, with a heavy emphasis of course on the Buffalo Bills and their blazing 9-2 start. As one regular to the show points out, Josh Allen is putting together a strong MVP caliber season despite not having the elite stats he's had in seasons past. Patrick Moran explains why Josh is at the top of his game and sticking with the stats not telling the whole story narrative, James Cook looks like a much better running back this year compared to last despite being on pace for less rushing yards, receptions, receiving yards and yards per carry than 2023. Of course, finding the end zone on the ground 10 times in 10 games is a big reason why.Patrick's also asked about Matt Milano's return and one listener wary of the impact he'll have. There's also a segment detailing the job Damar Hamlin's done, what if anything to expect from Cole Bishop, Taron Johnson being on top of his game and someone throws out a potential Bills free agent Patrick's got zero interest in.That plus has Sean McDermott finally turned the corner for good, would Terry Pegula ever sell the Buffalo Sabres in a scenario where the team would then relocate and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 927Biggest Buffalo Bills Bye Week Talking Points

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly chat, this time focusing on some of the biggest Buffalo Bills talking points as they hit their bye week at 9-2.It's a surprise to most and maybe even the Bills themselves that they find themselves with nine wins through their first 11 games. The guys talk about that and if there were any doubts about if this team was legitimately good, that got answered in a big way with their validation win over Kansas City this past Sunday. Did that win put Josh Allen among the biggest frontrunners for MVP and is Sean McDermott in the mix for NFL Coach of the Year? Also, Matt Milano is close to returning and the guys talk about how they think McDermott may deploy him back on the field. This also feels like the week if the Bills are going to reach out to Micah Hyde, but do the Bills even need to upgrade the spot over Damar Hamlin? In fact, is Hyde even an upgrade?Matt also has thoughts on Von Miller still showing plenty of juice, a bunch of younger players taking their game to the next level being a huge key to Buffalo's success through this point and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 926Buffalo Bills Biggest Week 11 Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran's going over his biggest Buffalo Bills Week 11 takeaways following Buffalo's takedown over previously unbeaten Kansas City to go into their bye with a 9-2 record for the first time in 32 years. It was an entertaining back and forth game that came down to a few plays, as is always the case when these teams collide. Patrick devotes time to giving Bills head coach Sean McDermott a lot of credit. The Bills were supposed to be a team in transition this season following the exodus of many core players. That coupled with the injuries they've dealt with already makes their 9-2 start all the more remarkable. Plenty of that comes from McDermott's system and having this team ready to play nearly every week. Sean's decision to go for it on a critical fourth down play late in the game may have felt obvious given the circumstance but it's not a choice Sean might've made in the past. He's grown along with a lot of the players on this team.Of course, players make the plays and none are doing it better than Josh Allen this season. Patrick has commentary on why Sunday showed him Josh is the league's MVP through 11 weeks. He also talks about Amari Cooper coming up huge, every team in the league needing a Khalil Shakir, O'Cyrus Torrence being an unsung hero for his work against Chris Jones, Ed Oliver being a menace, Terrell Bernard making big plays, depth yet again shining for Buffalo and much more. What a great way to go into the bye week, Buffalo!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 925Bills Hand Chiefs First Loss (Live Immediate Reactions)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for immediate live reactions shortly after the Buffalo Bills ended the Kansas City Chiefs bid for a perfect regular season, knocking off the two-time Super Bowl defending champions, 30-21 at Highmark Stadium. As always the game was well hyped and as always it lived it up to it. The game was in doubt until inside the final two minutes and when it was over Buffalo improved their record to 9-2 and put themselves firmly into number one seed mix by handing the Chiefs their first loss. The guys talk about a Buffalo team that week after week finds a way to put up 30 points despite so many guys being in and out of the lineup, this time not having Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman or Spencer Brown. It didn't matter much on this day in part because guys like Curtis Samuel and Dawson Knox stepped up. Of course, when it came to be superman that's exactly what Josh Allen became. They also talk about a defense that forced two turnovers and four Kansas City punts. Also, should the goal post now be moved when it comes to what to expect from the 2024 Buffalo Bills? Is this truly a team capable of winning the Super Bowl? They talk about this and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 924Bills vs Chiefs Preview & Three Bold Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of the Buffalo Bills vs Kansas City Chiefs clash coming on Sunday that everyone wants to see in addition to three keys to victory for Buffalo, three bold predictions and a final score prediction.Granted, the Chiefs have sent the Bills packing the past three times they've met in the playoffs but it's not like this rivalry over recent years has been one sided. Buffalo's actually won the past three regular season meetings, all at Arrowhead Stadium and hope to extend the streak to four with a victory in Orchard Park on Sunday. Kansas City comes into the game undefeated at 9-0 and Buffalo may very well be their biggest obstacle remaining from a perfect regular season. Patrick talks about how the offense hasn't looked great but is the best in the league at staying on the field by converting third downs. Defensively the Chiefs are a dynamo and seem as good as ever there.Patrick elaborates on what he thinks the keys to the game are with Buffalo, from being able to play out in front, having offensive success on early downs and (as always) trying to make life hell for Mahomes without blitzing and leaving the back part of the defense vulnerable. Patrick also has three bold predictions, including eight catches minimum out of the backfield for the Bills running backs, a rookie finding his way into the end zone and a Bills captain on the receiving end of a big turnover. That plus a final score pick and much more. Huge game on Sunday!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 923Bills vs Chiefs From The Kansas City Perspective

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Casey James from Arrowhead Pride of SB Nation to discuss this Sunday's huge Buffalo Bills vs Kansas Chiefs matchup primarily from the perspective of someone who covers the Chiefs. How much this game means to the Bills and their fan base varies depending on who you ask, but one undeniable thing is that it's more than just one of 17 games on the 2024 schedule. Patrick asks Casey for his thoughts on several aspects of the Chiefs and this game, including the frustration if any some Chiefs may have with critics blowing off their 9-0 start to the season as the team just being lucky and/or always the beneficiary of some controversial officiating calls.James also sheds light on Kansas City's offense, which hasn't been great but leads the NFL in third downs to keep them on the field. Travis Kelce has heated up over the past three weeks, plus how much is DeAndre Hopkins moving the needle and what's been the impact of rookie Xavier Worthy?Defensively Kansas City remains stout like they did last year. Casey talks about what's keying that effort in addition to what besides Josh Allen has Kansas City worried, if Buffalo is their biggest obstacle to a perfect 17-0 regular season and much more. Before leaving Patrick has some thoughts on the Buffalo Sabres needing to have the pressure on them right now, and UB football's team eligible to go bowling.Follow Caleb on Twitter @CJScoobs and be sure to check out Arrowhead Pride for all things Chiefs.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 922True Test For The Buffalo Bills Starts Now

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss that while the Buffalo Bills deserve the fruits of their labor in getting off to a 8-2 start, the true test for them begins this week with a showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. You play the team in front of you that's on the schedule and the Bills have handled business wonderfully so far this season, but their slew of opponents hasn't turned out to be daunting. In fact, Buffalo's only played three teams so far that currently have a winning record and two of them resulted in both their losses. The slate is about to get exponentially harder over the next months with home games against Kansas City and San Francisco--both representatives from last year's Super Bowl before taking to the road for games in Los Angeles against the Rams and Detroit.Matt and Patrick talk about this next month, evaluate how much it means to the Bills and what will the ramifications be from it. They also discuss what players specifically we will learn the most about and some of the biggest keys for Buffalo to come out of this stretch with at least a .500 record before finishing up with New England twice sandwiched between a home game against the New York Jets, who've basically folded the towel on the season. Ep 921Buffalo Bills Biggest Week 10 Takeaways (Plus Milano's Returning Soon)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over his biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways from Week 10 after watching the film and going over grade analysis of the Bills 30-20 road victory at Indianapolis on Sunday to improve to 8-2 on the season.Part of Patrick's early focus is highlighting the effort of two low key players who's worth ethic and under the radar contributions are a big reason why Buffalo's won eight times in 10 tries so far this season. Dorian Williams showed off his best trait (speed) and hustle to prevent what would've been a Jonathan Taylor touchdown run, with the play ultimately saving the Bills four points. On the other side of the ball, Mack Hollins stepped up big with both Amari Cooper and Keon Coleman out with injuries, hauling in four passes for 86 yards, by far his best game as a Buffalo Bills.Patrick also talks about the Bills getting away with game that was far from Josh Allen's best and dives into some of Allen's gaffes. Part of the reason the offense was still fine was the effective physical nature of James Cook. Also the "everybody eats" mantra extended to the defensive side of the ball as well. Four takeaways by four Bills defenders, not to mention six different defenders had a tackle for a loss. Patrick discusses being impressed with the Bills defense being more aggressive this week and clearly opportunistic each time the Colts made a mistake--speaking of which there's a breakdown of some of their biggest that made the game less stressful than it needed to be.That plus Matt Milano should be returning soon (!), a few quick hitters, some comments on the Buffalo Sabres after a frustrating matinee loss and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 920Defense Carries Buffalo Bills in Indy (Instant Live Reactions)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to talk about the defense carrying the Buffalo Bills to a 30-20 road victory at the Indianapolis Colts to improve to 8-2 on the season and set up a showdown with Kansas City next Sunday in Orchard Park.It wasn't the prettiest game for the offense, not by a long shot but it didn't matter because Buffalo's defense was more than up to talk. Taron Johnson had a pick six on the Colts first offensive play of the game and the defense finished with four takeaways plus a key fourth down sack. The guys talk about the unit's mostly dominating performance, forcing three Flacco interceptions and a strip sack by Greg Rousseau that led to a Damar Hamlin fumble recovery. They also held Jonathan Taylor to just seven yards rushing on five carries on the second half after Taylor had 107 at halftime. It came on a day when the offense wasn't particular sharp, mostly understandable given they were down Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper coming into the game and lost Dalton Kincaid to a knee injury in the second quarter. Josh Allen threw two interceptions, both pretty ugly and also missed on a wide open Kincaid for a would-be touchdown. That said, he still threw for 280 yards and ran for 40 more while orchestrating a nail in the coffin 13-play, 84 yard drive following Taylor Rapp's interception to put the game away.Joe's got plenty of thoughts on Josh Allen's game, big picture things with the Bills and tons more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 919Bills vs Colts Preview & Bold Predictions (Plus Sabres Heating Up)

It's a surprise bonus Saturday episode of Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran has a Buffalo Bills vs Indianapolis Colts preview, keys to the game and bold predictions for it alongside some commentary on the see-saw Buffalo Sabres once again heating up.Typically throughout the NFL season we use Fridays as the the official Talking Buffalo preview episode for the Bills. However, Patrick hosted University at Buffalo football star Shaun Dolac live from Imperial Pizza on yesterday's show. That made Patrick compelled to a bonus episode in large part to be able to preview this Sunday's Bills game, a contest Buffalo's favored to win by four points and should be a competitive game. The Colts are 4-5 on the season but four of those five losses were to great teams. They've made the switch at quarterback from youngster Anthony Richardson to the ageless veteran Joe Flacco. Patrick goes over their offense, which may or may not have star wide receiver (back injury) on the field Sunday. Regardless, the Colts don't lack weapons and Bills fans know Jonathan Taylor, who ran for over 200 yards on them a few seasons ago all too well. They also feature Alec Pierce and his NFL-leading 22.9 yards per catch and a very stout offensive line.Defensively the Colts are pretty middle of the pack as whole but have a trio of potential game wreckers at their disposal: defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, linebacker Zaire Franklin and cornerback Kenny Moore.Patrick goes over his three biggest keys to victory for the Bills, including the safeties having an impactful afternoon in helping to stop Taylor. From there it's bold predictions time and guess what folks----Dalton Kincaid is going to have his best game of the season! That plus a final score pick and more.Patrick also spends a handful of minutes talking about the Sabres, who smacked the New York Rangers on the road Thursday night, 6-1 and have won their last 2 games by an 11-2 margin. This comes after losing three in a row, which came after winning three in a row. It's been an inconsistent first 14 games for Buffalo to say the least---does Patrick think this team is now turning the corner? That plus some reflections on Dolac being on Friday's show and much more!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 918UB Star Linebacker Shaun Dolac (LIVE From Imperial Pizza)

E

On this special episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran sits down with University at Buffalo star linebacker Shaun Dolac for a candid conversation about his life and football career through this point live at Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo.Shaun leads the entire nation in both total and solo tackles and was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, given to the nation's best college linebacker. However, the road to the stardom and a potential future in the NFL was anything but smooth sailing for Dolac. He completely dominated the high school scene at West Seneca East, racking up 2018 Buffalo News Player of the Year, but college football success didn't come easy.Shaun went to prep school for a year to remain in football rather than go to the University of Albany for lacrosse. He was a walk on to the UB football football program and eventually earned a scholarship before his sophomore year. He became a breakout start his junior year in 2022 before suffering a season-ending ankle injury four games into his would-be senior season. He then made the difficult decision to transfer to Utah State for his redshirt senior year before changing his mind following this spring and coming back to UB, where he not only picked up where he left off but has elevated his game even more.Shaun talks about growing up in a big football family, the influence his late father had on him, his time at West Seneca and his journey through this point with college ball. He also talks about his short and long term goals, a bunch of fun facts and tons more. Remember the name Shaun Dolac, football fans!Big shout-out and thank you once again to Imperial Pizza for being a gracious host and for their excellent wings. Ep 917Eric Wood Talks Bills, Broadcasting and---Taylor Swift Concert

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo Bills radio analyst and former Pro Bowl center Eric Wood to about Bills, his emerging broadcasting career, his podcast and venturing on a family road trip to see Taylor Swift in concert.A longtime former Buffalo center himself, Eric has plenty to say about the job Connor McGovern's doing under center as well as the rest of the offensive line, a unit that could've easily taken a step back after losing a leader like Mitch Morse in the offseason. Instead the line has not only picked up where it left off in 2023 but has remained remarkably healthy again as well. Eric has thoughts on them as well as offensive line coach Aaron Kromer having the unit seemingly playing at its best. The guys also discuss Eric's ongoing transformation into broadcasting and Patrick marvels at the fact Eric's been in that Bills booth for as long as he has now, joking that people are starting to recognize him more as a broadcaster than they did as a football player. Eric talks about getting more and more comfortable with each season and game, liking them to a player getting more reps. Also, Eric recently took his wife and daughter all the way to Indianapolis to see the Taylor Swift New Eras tour live in concert. Patrick, a Swiftie himself is interested in learning as much about what it's like to be at one her concerts as possible. They also discuss Eric's "Centered on Buffalo" podcast, recent wing stops and tons more. Ep 916Buffalo Bills Midseason Awards Show

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for his weekly visit and today the guys are handing out hardware, both good and bad for the Buffalo Bills as they've reached the halfway mark of the 2024 season.Seeing we couldn't do this show at halftime last Sunday when the season technically hit the midpoint part, we'll have to settle for the awards show nine games in, a season that's seen the Bills go 7-2 and have complete and utter control of the AFC east, in what most would consider shocking fashion.Among the awards discussed and named on this episode is Best Defensive Player and Best Offensive Player not named Josh Allen. They also decide who's been the best rookie so far, the most pleasantly surprising and disappointing players, most underrated player, the best and worst games as well as the best and worst plays of the season through this point. They also discuss the biggest storyline(s) for the Bills so far in 2024 before spending the remainder of the time going over some conference stuff, including an absolutely huge showdown looming with Kansas City in Orchard Park on November 17th. Ep 915Biggest Buffalo Bills Week 9 Takeaways (Featuring Matt Parrino)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo Bills beat reporter Matt Parrino to go over their biggest Week Nine takeaways following the Buffalo Bills exciting victory over Miami on Sunday in addition to a conversation about athlete parenting and more.It certainly wasn't easy facing a Dolphins team that knew any slim chance they had of getting back into the AFC east race hinged on them upsetting the Bills in Orchard Park. In the end though, Tyler Bass set a franchise-record with a 61 yard game-winning field goal and the Bills not only improved to 7-2 but put themselves where they'd need a total face plant to not win their fifth consecutive AFC east crown.Matt's as entrenched with covering the team full time and has thoughts on many of Patrick's biggest takeaways from this week, including the wild (wild!) ride Tyler Bass went on, Sean McDermott showing confidence in a spot other coaches probably wouldn't have, Josh Allen staying patience paying off, a tip of the cap to Mack Hollins and focusing on a defense that other than a singular Taron Johnson effort got largely dismantled by the Miami offense. In particular Patrick thought the defensive tackle play led by Ed Oliver was extremely lousy. Does Matt agree? The guys also have a discussion about how protective parents of athletes can be and sometimes go a little overboard. Patrick feels that's the case recently after a social media incident involving him and Damar Hamlin's father. Matt shares his thoughts and the guys talk about relating to the parent in most cases. That and plenty more! You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattParrino and of course be sure to check out his work at NYup.com as well as subscribe to the Shout Buffalo Football Podcast.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 914Bills Dramatically Beat Miami (Live Reactions)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens not long after the Buffalo Bills dramatically beat the Miami Dolphins, 30-27 on an improbable Tyler Bass 61-yard field goal in the wanning seconds to move 7-2 and end Miami's hopes for a divisional title before Election Day.It's safe to assume the last thing anyone expected Bass to do was win Buffalo the game, especially after missing an extra point and having another one bounce in through the uprights earlier in the game. But Bass not only the game-winning field goal but booted an all-time franchise record 61 yarder to do it. The guys talk this being one of the ultimate single-play redemption stories they can remember, as Patrick calls himself out for lambasting Bass on social media several times throughout the game. The Bills offense started slow but then got things heated up in the second half, scoring on their last four drives on a day they had to because the defense wasn't stopping anything. The guys talk about Josh Allen playing MVP caliber football in the second half without the services of Amari Cooper and having to consistently overcome their own mistakes, something they've done a lot of this season. The win is sweet but it was far from a perfect Sunday afternoon Patrick and Joe talked about a defense that other than one play from Taron Johnson mostly stunk, especially in the middle of the defense where both Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones were eerily silent. Was it just one of those days or do the Bills have a serious problem in the middle of their defense? That plus some big picture stuff and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 913Bills vs Dolphins Week 9 Preview & Bold Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Phinsider (SB Nation) blogger Marek Brave for a full Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins preview, including keys to the game for each team as well as bold predictions and a final score pick that both guys picked exactly the same. It's no secret that the Bills have completely owned the Dolphins in recent years. Sean McDermott is 14-2 vis Miami since taking over in 2017 and 5-1 specifically vs Mike McDaniel. Meanwhile, Josh Allen's 12-2 vs Miami including the playoffs with 34 touchdowns against just seven interceptions. Marek has plenty to say about Buffalo's domination from the other side of things.Prior records against each other are based on the past, but the present Miami Dolphins are just 2-5 and in grave danger of being completely run out of the AFC east divisional race if not the playoffs all together by the end of Sunday. Marek talks about what's went wrong with Miami this season, keyed of course by the injury to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered against Buffalo in Week two. There's been other issues and some of them are discussed, including the quirky act of the Dolphins head coach McDaniel wearing thin among some of the fan base and the disappointment that's come with former Bills safety Jordan Poyer joining the Dolphins this offseason. Both guys offer their keys to the game for the respective teams they cover, with Patrick focused on the most obvious things like not letting the Tyreek Hill/Jaylen Waddle go crazy and the defensive front four making life uncomfortable for Tua. Marek pins Miami's hopes on being able to stop the Bills running game and Allen transforming into the turnover machine he's been at times in previous years. They also have three bold predictions each and come up with the exact same final score prediction. That plus Marek, who's been in professional wrestling for more than 20 years talks about his career, which includes running a highly touted and well known wrestling academy with his partner, WWE superstar Seth Rollins. That and plenty more.Make sure to follow Marek on Twitter @MBrave13 and check out Phinsider on SB Nation for ongoing Dolphins news and commentary.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for a livestreamed edition of The Podbag focused primary on the Buffalo Bills (a little Sabres too)The Podbag is a recurring episode theme where the audience controls the narrative and topics of the show with their questions, comments and takes submitted via Youtube, email or social media. Typically Patrick does these shows solo but brings in Joe to mix things up.To keep the questions for Joe more spontaneous, Patrick doesn't let him know what was submitted ahead of time. Among them is the description of effort following a Josh Allen mistake that raises his level of respect, a move the guys would make if they were Brandon Beane and allowed a trade before the deadline, and an incredibly on-field Keon Coleman former player comparison. They're also asked about anxiety levels watching Bills games, who'd they like to see Buffalo play least in the AFC championship game, former Sabre from the ongoing drought they've love to have back right now, a celebrity that would leave them star struck and tons more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 911Playing Some Devil's Advocate With The Buffalo Bills

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly conversation, this time turning heel a little bit on Buffalo Bills fans and telling them some things to be skeptical of regarding the team despite their glowing 6-2 record. The heel turn isn't on the level of Seth Rollins turning on the Shield, but the guys decide to take a break from all the positivity talk about the Bills (mostly well deserved) and play Devil's advocate today, focusing today's episode on some things that already have or could ail the Bills as they progress through what's become a most promising season.Among the things the guys discuss is the Bills playing a relatively weak schedule so far, especially compared to what it was expected to look like back in September. They also talk about how their penchant for racking up penalties is a problem, slow starts in at least half their games so far this season, Curtis Samuel looking like a complete bust right now and not having a lot of good luck on the injury front.Again, both guys are highly optimistic with the Bills at this point of the season but sometimes you have to take a look at the dangers that may lie ahead. They also talk some AFC as well, including the absolutely stunning revelation that the AFC east race is close to being over before we even reach Halloween and Kansas City just two home wins away from coming to Orchard Park in a few weeks with a 10-0 record. Ep 910Buffalo Bills Week Eight Biggest Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over a slew of his biggest takeaways surrounding the Buffalo Bills following their 31-10 shellacking of the Seattle Seahawks on the road that has Buffalo sitting at 6-2 and running away with the AFC east. With Miami hosting Arizona and the New York Jets traveling to Foxboro to play the New England Patriots, coupled with the Bills having to travel to Seattle this felt like a week where the Bills holding serve would be the best outcome. Not only did Buffalo end up doing their end but the Dolphins and Jets both suffered upset losses, putting Buffalo in complete and utter command of the division at roughly the halfway point of the season. Considering what the expectations from most were back in September it's simply amazing.Patrick spends plenty of time talking about some of his biggest takeaways from Buffalo's dismantling of Seattle on Sunday, starting with an offensive line that minus the annoying penalties was essentially flawless both in protecting Josh Allen and opening up huge holes in the running game. The play of the line allowed James Cook to have another big day and Patrick's again reminded of how Cook can often look like former Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Le'Veon Bell.Keon Coleman is becoming an important part of the passing game while Khalil Shakir may be one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL. Patrick talks about both, shifting snap count percentages and of course plenty on the defense, which had it's best run defending day in nearly five years. That plus Joe Brady stepping up over the last six quarters and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 909Bills Smoke Seattle (Instant Reactions)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for live instant reaction shortly after the Buffalo Bills went to Seattle and smoked the Seahawks, 31-10 to take an absolute stranglehold in the AFC east. With both Miami and the New York Jets both unexpectedly losing earlier in the day, Buffalo had a chance to put a gaping distance between them and everyone else and that's exactly what they did. Buffalo mostly dominated on both sides of the ball and even when they weren't, Seattle was shooting themselves in the foot with miscues. Add it all up and it was a mostly stress free Bills win that was all-but-over halfway through the three quarter. The guys have plenty to talk about in regards to what went right for the Bills, including Josh Allen having another incredible game despite throwing his first interception of the season. The offensive line was spectacular as was both the running and passing games, as Buffalo racked up over 400 total yards. Joe Brady also did a great job of mixing things up and showing more creativity in the Buffalo offense, something clearly carried over from the second half of last week's game. The defense wasn't great but played more than good enough get a win. They also talk about one of the few ugly parts of the game---penalties. Buffalo had 13 accepted penalties on them while Seattle had 11 to combine for the most in a single game this season in the NFL.Plenty of other topics are discussed as well, including the Bills having an opportunity to unofficially put away their fifth straight AFC east divisional championship BEFORE Election Day with a win over Miami next Sunday.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective for a full preview of Sunday's clash between the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks, go over keys to the game for Buffalo and offer some bold predictions in addition to some Buffalo Sabres talk. The Bills overcome a sloppy start last week at home against Tennessee to improve to 5-2 on the season. They head to Seattle this Sunday, always a tough place to play. The guys talk about a Seattle team that leads the NFL in passing yards but have been very up-and-down as a whole. They also haven't been the same dynamo they've been at home through the years, losing twice already in Seattle including a loss to the New York Giants a few weeks ago.Patrick goes over what he considers the biggest keys to the game are for Buffalo with PK chiming in and adding some of his own. From there it's bold prediction time---an area that Patrick has excelled at over the past few weeks. Can he hit on a surprise player scoring a touchdown for the Bills for a third straight week? Plus, both guys give their final score predictions. Also, Damar Hamlin's father took exception, very much so to a tweet from Patrick earlier this week and the guys discuss it.They also jam in some Sabres talk, trying to figure out what to think of a team that has gone 3-1-1 in their last five after a disastrous first few games to the season. That and plenty more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 907Power Ranking Potential Buffalo Bills Extension Priorities (The Podbag)

E

It’s another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the episode where the audience controls the narrative and topics. Patrick Moran is responding to several takes and questions, including being asked to power rank what the potential Bills contract extension candidates should be in addition to what should happens when/if Matt Milano's able to return to the active roster. There's several prominent Bills players that could in line for extensions as soon this offseason. Among those are Christian Benford, Terrel Bernard, Greg Rousseau and Khalil Shakir. Patrick's tasked with ranking them and perhaps a few others in order of priority were he Brandon Beane. It's a pretty tough exercise as all the players are important to the team, so it comes down a series of factors that are open to debate. Also, Matt Milano's missed the entire so far and isn't expected back until somewhere in December at the earliest. In his place Dorian Williams has gotten progressively better and become an asset to the defense. A listener wants to know what Patrick thinks Sean McDermott should do when/if Milano's healthy enough to play again and advises fans to not overthink this one. Also discussed are submissions involving Taylor Rapp making a fan not miss Jordan Poyer, an upgrade still wanted at safety, Josh Allen's favorite trait so far this year, the MVP race and what one fan calls "the complete disappearance of Dawson Knox."There's also some Sabres talk and other things discussed.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 906Joe Brady's Performance Critical Going Forward For Buffalo

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for their weekly chat, examining the significance of Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady properly adapting to their personnel and new top weapon going forward in addition to several Bills and NFL topics. The Bills offense has been efficient and at times downright successful but it's not without flaws, particularly in the first of games. The guys talk about the boring and sometimes predictable nature of the Bills play calling being an issue offensively at times and how critical it is for the unit to start being a little more unpredictable if not air-oriented with the arrival of Amari Cooper, who made an instant impact against Tennessee last Sunday. They also have a belief that the offensive pecking order has become established in the passing game, while Patrick asks Matt for his thoughts on how he'd divide the running back load between James Cook and emerging rookie Ray Davis. On the other side of the ball there's cause for concern following injuries on Sunday to both starting linebackers Terrel Bernard and Dorian Williams. Of the two Williams seems like the less significant injury and worries weren't squashed when Sean McDermott chose to not give any updates on either, particularly Bernard. Matt talks about how the defense is night day with Bernard out there compared to Baylon Spector. They also take a peak into the Seattle game on Sunday as well as a spin around the AFC and an East division that Bills now have (very) firm control of. That and plenty more. Ep 905Buffalo Bills Biggest Week 7 Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over several of his biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways after watching the film and sifting through the PFF grades from the Bills Week seven 34-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Orchard Park on Sunday. When you win a game by 24 points it sounds like a drubbing and in many ways it was, but that doesn't mean it was a completely dominant performance by Buffalo. Patrick has some takes on why the Bills came out and started slowly yet again on Sunday, a pattern that's happened way too many times already this season. He also discusses that why he thinks Tennessee came into Orchard Park with a very smart game plan on both sides of the ball, head coach Brian Callahan blew it and quite possibly the game with one boneheaded decision early in the third quarter that without question changed the complexion of the game.Fortunately for Buffalo things turned around and Patrick has thoughts on several of the reasons why, from the obvious lift new wide receiver Amari Cooper gave them in making two difficult catches besides his touchdown, to the emergence of Keon Coleman, who's now threatening to become a breakout star in the league as a rookie.Defensively the Bills were led by Greg Rousseau, who had his best game since the opener and Terrell Bernard, who was all over the place but did get hurt twice, including an injured ankle that forced him to miss the rest of the game.Patrick has thoughts on how much stock you should put into sounding beating the Titans at home, the AFC east race stunningly feeling like it's all-but-over after just seven weeks, was the Cooper touchdown a turning play for the Bills offensively going forward in the season and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 904Bills vs Titans Instant Reactions (Who Are The Real Bills?)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for instant reaction following the tale of two very different halves for the Buffalo Bills and their 34-10 victory over Tennessee on Sunday. As they've done multiple this season, the Bills came out on zombie mode and paid the price, they fell down 10-0, trailed by three at the half and quite frankly were very fortunate to only be down a field goal, as they were thoroughly outplayed on both sides of the ball. Fortunately that wasn't the case in the second half as the defense made a game impacting stop on the Titans' first drive of the third quarter and utterly took over from there, throwing up 34 unanswered points to turn a tense contest into a rout.Buffalo had 299 total yards in the second half alone, including 248 of that passing from Josh Allen. The guys talk about the offense clicking in the second half, anchored by key plays from new arrival Amari Cooper in addition to both Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid having success in their roles.Meanwhile the Bills defense was just as effective, holding the Titans scoreless and surrendering just 64 yards over the entire second half.Discussion today focuses on the first half being everything that's wrong with the Buffalo Bills, and the second half being everything it's capable of being. That and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 903Bills vs Titans Preview & Bold Predictions (Plus Sabres Stink Already)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full Buffalo Bills vs Tennessee Titans preview alongside game bold predictions in addition voicing frustrating at yet another crappy Buffalo Sabres start. The Bills return to Orchard Park this weekend after spending the past three weeks on the road. They'll face a Titans team that's 1-4 with their season already on the brink. Patrick talks about the Titans having one of the worst records in the league despite having a defense that's among the league's best, led by stud defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons. There's also plenty of weapons on offense but unfortunately for them it's been negated by horrible quarterback play from Will Levis.Patrick goes over a handful of keys to victory for Buffalo this week, including continuing to be relatively aggressive in the passing game even if the Titans have the top ranked pass defense in the league, containing Tony Pollard in the running game and simply not falling asleep through most the first half like they did the last time they were home against an inferior team to start the season.Bold predictions are made as well, including a backup running back scoring a touchdown, a prominent defensive player finally making impactful plays and Josh Allen throwing his first pick of the season. From there it's time for a score prediction and spoiler alert---Patrick's not picking Buffalo to lose.Patrick also spends some time talking about being frustrated that the Sabres are off to a pretty crappy start again and how he's ready to remove any emotional investment in the team going forward. Ep 902Ugly Wins Still Look Sexy In The Standings (Bills Biggest Takeaways)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation and together they have their biggest takeaways on the heels of the Buffalo Bills 23-20 victory on Monday Night football over the New York Jets, an ugly win that looked very sexy in the standings on Tuesday morning. This subject matter was pushed back a day after the major Amari Cooper trade on Tuesday afternoon.Monday was a game marred by penalties, missed kicks and unforced errors by both teams but in the end, the Bills prevailed and as a result now have a commanding 2.5 game lead over the Jets just six weeks into the season, something very expected. Patrick spends time going over some of the biggest reasons the Bills moved firmly into the driver's seat in the AFC east, including Josh Allen reverting back to the type of play that had him looking like a strong MVP candidate through the first three weeks of season. Also, Ray Davis got the start for an injured James Cook and boy did he ever take the ball and run with it, literally. Also discussed is the huge (huge) returns of Taron Johnson and Taylor Rapp playing a big role in Buffalo's win, AJ Epenesa being a factor as well as Curtis Samuel having his first meaningful week as a Bill. This all helped overcome many of Buffalo's deficiencies, including the inexcusable decision by Sean McDermott just before halftime, a defense that got away with yet again giving up too many explosive plays, a kicker who has the yips at this point and other stupid mistakes the Bills made. They also talks about the Jets trading for Davante Adams and of course, Cooper joining the Bills after a Brandon Beane trade and an opportunity for the Bills to really run away with their division over the next month and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 901Reactions On The Huge Bills Amari Cooper Trade (900th Episode)

E

On this special 900th episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for a bunch of reactions to the Buffalo Bills pulling the trigger on a huge trade Tuesday, acquiring wide receiver from Amari Cooper in a move that's expected to make Buffalo's offense dramatically more dangerous. Before jumping into the conversation, Patrick reveals that he originally taped today's show and had it set it to for Wednesday morning, but that changed as he was editing and the news broke of the Cooper trade. While not ideal to have a taped episode essentially become garbage, it's a small price to pay for the Bills to come away with a guy who instantly becomes their No. 1 receiever.Joe, who's been incredibly vocal about the Bills lack of talent at wide receiver going all the way back to the Stefon Diggs trade in April and even before that, has a ton of takes on this move as does Patrick,, who calls this one of the biggest no-brainer trades involving the Bills he remembers in his lifetime. The guys also debate where this leaves the Bills in terms of where they stand in the AFC. They also spend some time going over their biggest takeaways from Monday night's win on the road against the New York Jets--- a game that was pretty ugly in real time but sure looked sexy in the standings on Tuesday morning. That and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 900Allen, Davis, Rapp Carry Bills Over Jets (Live Instant Reactions)

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran offers instant live reactions in the moments following the Buffalo Bills squeezing out a 23-20 road victory over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.Let's be honest--this was one of the ugliest games you'll see and if you didn't have a horse in the race you probably would've turned the game off long before the final whistle. But at the end of the day the only thing that mattered for Buffalo was getting a win. They did and now have a firm hold on the AFC east six weeks into the season. Before hitting on all the ugly stuff Patrick highlights three players that were critical to the Bills winning this game: Ray Davis, Josh Allen and Taylor Rapp. Raise your hand if you expected to read that before the game.Patrick spends (plenty of) time talking about all the ugly from this game, from the 22 combined accepted penalties to the Bills ridiculous defensive call at the end of the first half that allowed Aaron Rodgers to complete a hail mary.Patrick also brags on hitting all three of his bold predictions before the game, what this win means for Buffalo, has Tyler Bass attempted his last kick for the Bills and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 899Buffalo Bills vs NY Jets Preview & Bold Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino for a full preview of Monday Night's game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets in addition to Bills keys to the game, a handful of bold predictions and final score guess. This has the feelings of a "get right" game for both the Bills and Jets with plenty on the line. A victory for Buffalo not only gets things back on track but puts the rest of the AFC east in the rear view mirror early, earning road wins over both Miami and New York. However a third straight loss may force the panic button to get hit and realize this team isn't nearly as good as they appeared to be three weeks into the season. The guys spend time talking about how they expect the Bills offense to look against a very tough Jets defense, not to mention injuries to key players Khalil Shakir and James Cook. Someone has to step up on the Bills offense and it's more than time for Dalton Kincaid and Curtis Samuel to carry the load.As for the Jets, they guys discuss a top tier defense featuring arguably the best cornerback tandem in the league and a very (very) good front seven as well. However, there's ways for Buffalo to have success on offense and the guys go over them as well as an expectation that Buffalo's defense will be just as problematic for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense. They also offer bold predictions, including a bonus prediction from Mrs. Moran and a final score guess. That and much more--a big game for the Bills! Ep 898Mean Tweets, Buffalo Bills & Sabres Edition

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, The Buffalo Bills and Sabres had separate social media posts commemorating events that fans absolutely tore into inside the comments, and Patrick Moran reads many of them off, some hilariously funny and others downright mean.Terry and Kim Pegula just past the 10 year mark as owners of the Bills, while Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams celebrated his 50th birthday. Both were acknowledged via posts by their respective social media departments. Predictably, annoyed/angry fans got at them, spewing comments that range from comical to borderline cringe.Patrick decided today was a good day to something different and essentially dedicate an entire episode reading off several of the comments. Among them on the Pegula side is fans urging him/them to sell the team, accusing him of ruining Josh Allen's team, funding a stadium on the state's dime, being an absentee owner and a really good reference from the movie Caddyshack. That's nothing compared to Adams, who had people saying they hoped his birthday sucked, wondering if he had a party with the millions of cap space the Sabres still have, wanting him Robert Saleh'd, accused of having his thumb up his butt and someone who simply used a middle finger emoticon instead of saying Happy Birthday. All that and more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 897Sean McDermott Angst Is Growing Among Buffalo Bills Fans

E

It’s another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the weekly episode where the audience controls the narrative and topics. Patrick Moran is responding to several takes and questions, including several angry fans wondering at what point does Sean McDermott's miscues become fireable offenses and if Brandon Beane is ready to risk another season of Josh Allen's prime. The NFL truly is a week-to-week league and the Bills are the poster child for that right now. Three weeks in Buffalo was undefeated and couldn't do no wrong. Two games later there's a mob of fans calling for McDermott's head among others. Patrick talks about what he thinks it would take for a McDermott firing to actually become a reality---a scenario that's extremely far fetched. Can McDermott ultimately get this team over the hump or is he destined to be the coach with a second-round playoff exit ceiling?Patrick also talks about how he's worried that the organization is being too patient with what he considers a critical season in Allen's career and talks about how it's ridiculous to expect him to play at this level for several more years considering the way he plays the game.Topics also covered include Curtis Samuel underachieving, Damar Hamlin being a liability, the team never being healthy enough, catharsis being therapeutic and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 896Potential Buffalo Bills WR Trade Candidates

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss a handful of potential Buffalo Bills trade candidates at wide receiver in addition to other topics involving the team and around the AFC.The past two weeks and especially last Sunday in Houston really emphasized the Bills need to find themselves a productive wide receiver. Head coach Sean McDermott said he's still confident in the group but even he said there's concerns with the unit when he spoke to the media. Matt goes over a list of possible candidates around the league that could come in and give the Bills passing game a much needed boost, ranging from possible yet unlikely to downright extremely doable for Bills general manager Brandon Beane. Also, the guys discuss the confidence level they have in McDermott and his coaching staff after the debacle ending in Houston. They also discuss Josh Allen winning AFC Offensive Player of the Month but still off to a relatively slow start, Beane's offseason free agent class that's been noticeably underwhelming through five weeks, why the Bills stink on third down so far this year, a look around the conference and tons more. Ep 895Buffalo Bills Biggest Week Five Takeaways

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses his biggest takeaways after watching the All-22 film and going over the PFF grades from the Buffalo Bills gut wrenching three point road loss on Sunday against the Houston Texans. To put it mildly, the Bills offense is a mess right now and has been for the past two weeks. Patrick talks about it not being any singular reason but rather a collaborative effort in its struggles, from bad game planning to predictable play calling, wide receivers who rarely get open and don't make plays when they do, an offensive line suddenly struggling to keep the pocket and at least in this game, a quarterback in Josh Allen who was quite frankly pretty awful. If these past two weeks have been a bump in a road or a pattern that could stay consistent for the rest of the season remains to be seen but Patrick's convinced a trade for a wide receiver considerably better than what was trotted out on Sunday is critical if Brandon Beane's serious about trying to win a championship this season.Defensively the results were much better, all things (injuries) considered. Patrick talks about being impressed with rookie defensive tackles DeWayne Carter and an impactful return from middle linebacker Terrel Bernard. It wasn't all good though----the safety play was again subpar and that unfortunately includes second round rookie Cole Bishop in his first NFL start, one he'd like to forget.A mistake on special teams that proved costly is also discussed as well as some big picture perspective after five weeks, a huge game coming up next Monday night and more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 894(Heated) Reactions Following Bills Loss In Houston

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for plenty of (often heated) reaction on the heels of the Buffalo Bills losing to the Houston Texans on a last second 59-yard field goal, an ending marred by bad coaching. The Bills were on the road in a tough environment facing a very good Houston team. They fell behind early and appeared on the verge of being run out of the Stadium at halftime. Buffalo showed resiliency, especially on defense and battled back to tie the game in the final minutes. They fell apart in the end, largely because of some absurdly coaching decisions by Sean McDermott, first with time outs and then on play calls in the final minute. The guys have plenty to say about that and a coaching staff that looked the part the first three weeks but have definitely been exposed as flawed over the last two. They also have plenty to say about Josh Allen, who had one of if not his worst games as pro, certainly the worst he's looked throwing the football in at least a few years. He was bad and wasn't helped but by a wide receiver group that gave him no help and often looked pathetic in doing so. It certainly feels if the Bills are serious about trying to win the AFC this year and get to the Super Bowl, they need to trade for a quality wide receiver because that player is not currently on this roster. The guys discuss a defense that had some issues early but stepped up and gave the Bills a chance to win this game, a pretty valiant effort with Ed Oliver, Taron Johnson and Taylor Rapp. They go over some bright spots, look ahead to what now kinda feels like a must-win game in New Jersey next week, hit on the Sabres crappy start to their season and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 893Bills vs Texans Preview & Bold Predictions

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of the Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans showdown, including keys to the game for Buffalo alongside a handful of bold predictions for Sunday. After being handled thoroughly in Baltimore this past week, Sunday is a big bounce back opportunity in Houston against a very talented Texans team that's 3-1 so far this season. Of course, this game is attracting a lot of national attention and not just because both teams are good. Former Bills star Stefon Diggs is with Houston and playing well. Patrick talks about him and takes exception to a large national narrative right now that this is a "revenge game" for Diggs and Houston.Patrick spends time talking Bills with some big picture perspective, brushing off the stink from the performance in Baltimore to point out several things going right for the team over the first month of the season as well as the latest injury news and who could be in or out for Buffalo on Sunday. From there's it's about keys to the game and Patrick highlights being more committed to using James Cook in the running game than they did last week and conversely taking advantage of a suspect Houston interior offensive lineman with a pair of Bills defenders down the middle who've largely underachieved so far this season. The episode is wrapped with a handful of bold predictions, including forecasting a long touchdown for a guy who's been a complete non-factor through four games and the opportunity for AJ Epenesa to leave a big footprint on that game. That plus a final score prediction and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices.
