Ep 112560 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: The “Sorcery of Stories” Is How We Help Each Other

Hello to you listening in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more for a story) for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. How do we get good at turning toward the uncertain future? How do we sustain ourselves, and each other? How can we help each other, even--or especially--those with whom we don't agree, through the revolutions ahead? I have an idea. We can share our stories. Here’s one.The great Polish rabbi, Israel ben Eliezer, also known as the Ba’al Shem Tov, deeply loved his people. Whenever they were troubled or persecuted he went to a sacred place in the forest, lit a sacred fire, and said a special prayer asking God to protect his people. It was enough and the people were saved. But in time the Ba’al Shem Tov died. Later, his disciple, following in his master’s footsteps, went into the same part of the forest and said, “Creator of the Universe, I do not know how to light the sacred fire, but I do know the special prayer; please, hear me! and help your people.” And it was enough.Generations passed and when the next Rabbi saw how his people were being persecuted, he went into the forest and said, “Oh, Lord, I don’t know how to light the sacred fire, nor do I know the special prayer, but I still remember the place. Help us! Protect the people” And the people were protected.Decades later, a very elderly rabbi seeing his people being persecuted, spoke to God saying, “I don’t know how to light the sacred fire, nor do I know the special prayer, and I can’t even find the place in the forest. All I can do is tell you this story and hope that you will hear me. Please help the people!” And again the people were spared.Story Prompt: When we find ourselves lost in the forest, do not know how to light the sacred fire, or say the special prayer, we can share our stories. What else might we do to help each other? Write that story! You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer https://www.quartermoonstoryarts.net/services/,✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with Diane as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 96760 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: What’s Key to Calming Anxiety? Deep Breathing.

Hello to you listening in Painesville, Ohio!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Let’s call it like it is: We are living in decidedly difficult times. As a result we might feel restless, anxious, irritable, impatient or just plain cranky. That negative tension fills our body affecting us from head to toe so we have difficulty managing even simple everyday situations. In my experience breathing exercises hold the key to relieving anxiety. Practical Tip: Try this: sit quietly and begin to breathe slowly in and out. With each breath calm your mind by releasing troubling thoughts. Focus on the ways in which your body begins to relax. Encourage your body to reach deeper states of calm by breathing more slowly, more deeply. You might repeat to yourself: "Breathing in, I know I am alive; breathing out, I smile to life in me and around me." With this simple technique you are decreasing stress, anxiety, and fear. Question? How does this work? Answer: Breathing deeply floods your system with oxygen and calms you. By mindfully slowing your breath, you send a signal to your body that all is well, peace is within you. As soon as you become aware of tension rising in you begin slowly and deeply breathing to dispel the anxiety you feel. It works. Guaranteed. Ep 112460 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: What Is “Engaged Storyism” for the Revolutions Ahead?

Hello to you listening all over the world!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.I coined the term “engaged storyism.” What do I mean? “Engaged” in something means to be actively involved, focused, and committed. “Storyism” is concern about and action aimed at advocating for narratives that unite, not divide; that raise up, not beat down; that include, not exclude. Most importantly storyism is a willingness to examine our narratives, reconfigure outdated beliefs, and undo memories that keep us attached to the old ways and self-images so that we evolve from who we used to be to our better selves. Authentic narrative has been fading while social media encourages algorithm-driven opinions encapsulated as sound bytes and masquerading as wisdom. We have a duty to revive stories that have the power to heal people and cultures, unbalance the status quo. When we employ stories as a bridge to peace, to the greater good, we can help each other out of the dark places or, as I have said for years: “Each One Lift One.”Following are four questions to kick-start “engaged storyism” conversations through the revolutions ahead: ✓ How do we engage in empathetic imagination?✓ How do we get good at turning toward the future, no matter how uncertain it may be?✓ How do we extend kindness to each other, especially to those with whom we disagree?✓ How do we sustain ourselves, and each other?Question: Engaged storyism is a collective effort. What thoughts and ideas do you have to help us help each get really good at turning toward the new narrative future? Ep 112160 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: It’s Halloween - Let Your Womanly Witch Magic Out!

Hello to you listening in New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, The Witch of Whidbey.Maybe like me you were discouraged from displaying your womanly witchy powers, dismissed for dabbling in sparks of magic that would heal the world, disowned for seeing beyond everyday reality to the visionary knowledge born of imagination, curiosity, and self-expression.But, it’s never too late to remind yourself of the woman you are and the witch wound you are ready to heal.THE WITCH WOUND“They call it the witch wound. We were punished you see, broken, slain, for shining too brightly. So we learned to hide that spark. We learned to play it down, play dumb, play dead. And we were taught to fear the light within us, lest it herald our downfallBut not anymore. You are not a wicked witch my friend, you are quite simply, or complicatedly, a woman. And your magic is not something you can choose, or lose.It always is, and always has lived within you.And you need no longer hide it.I call it the witch wound, but the time to heal is here.Now.Let that magic out.” [~Donna Ashworth - Witch Wound, from ‘Wild Hope’ - UK: https://amzn.eu/d/2j0Nquu - US: https://a.co/d/h6FEaTv]You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with me as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 112060 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Where’s the Road Map to Great Achievement?

Hello to you listening in Laxa, Sweden!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. The other night I was watching Episode 16 of Season 3 of the TV series The West Wing. Sam Seaborn is visited by his former physics professor, Dr. Dalton Millgate, who wants Sam to put in a good word for the funding of the superconducting supercollider - a controversial scientific project that would cost billions. Senator Enlow from Illinois is holding up the project for political reasons. A short exchange happens in Sam's office between Dalgate, Enlow and Seaborn about what this costly project “does": Sen. Jack Enlow, D-IL: If we can only say what benefit this thing has. No one's been able to do that.Dr. Dalton Millgate: That's because great achievement has no road map. The X-Ray is pretty good, and so is penicillin, and neither were discovered with a practical objective in mind. I mean, when the electron was discovered in 1897, it was useless. And now we have an entire world run by electronics. Haydn and Mozart never studied the classics. They couldn't. They invented them.Sam Seaborn: Discovery.Dr. Dalton Millgate: What?Sam Seaborn: Discovery is what. That's what this is used for. It's for discovery!Practical Tip: When we lose hope or direction or get discouraged about what we're about, about what our project does or is good for, remember this: it's for discovery! And that’s the road map to great achievement.Click HERE to watch the scene on YouTubeYou’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with me as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 111960 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: How Does the Spirit of the Camino Reveal Itself at the Cruz de Ferro?

Hello to you listening in Parker, Colorado! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Since 17th September I’ve been virtually retracing my pilgrimage steps on the Camino de Santiago, an annual ritual to remind me what I gained, what I was willing to toss away, and marking my life as BC & AC: Before Camino and After Camino. That cold dark morning I climbed the wet mountain trail to arrive at the Cruz de Ferro - also called the Iron Cross - bearing rocks for 16 friends and family members. Funny to be carrying all that extra weight when our packs are supposed to be pared down to the least we need. But I had promised that I would include my beloveds in this Camino ritual to set down burdens by leaving a rock and a prayer - even symbolically - leaving behind for them the weight of fears, heartbreak, mistakes, regrets, disappointments. For me it was fear of poverty. What the Camino gave me then and continues to give me now is a profound sense of community I’ve found nowhere else. Whether we prayed for ourselves at the Cruz de Ferro or for the state of the world or for something in between I just know that our prayers were heard. And answered; but perhaps not in the way we expected. Why? Because we don’t get what we ask for; we get what we dream of. And that might take time to recognize.Practical Tip: Know this: we are all pilgrims on the road walking each other home the best way we can with compassion, stories, and believing that Each One Lift One is the Way of the Buen Camino. You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with me as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 111660 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Power of the Pause Invites Your Audience to Listen

Hello to you listening in Buenos Aires, Argentina!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Willy Claflin is one of the most clever, insightful storytellers I know. He was a remarkable teacher. Here’s what he said about the "power of the pause" to create the very best stories:“When I told stories I would just rocket along to the end! But one day I taught a workshop in Texas. A woman wrote a story which began with this sentence: "Snake wanted to learn to play canasta. Only she didn't say, "snakewantedtolearntoplaycanasta!" She said, "Sssssnnnnnaaaake . . . . . . . wanteeeddddddd ........to learrrrrrrrnnnnn . . . . . . . . . .to plaaaaaaaayyyyyy . . . . . . . . canasssssssstaaaaaa." It must have taken her 20 seconds.I had time to see Snake’s desire, the deck of cards, and realize the problems Snake might have holding or dealing the cards. I began to dwell on the spaces - between the words - and eventually - to connect the empty space with the silence of meditation. I came to understand that inviting silence into stories created an opportunity for teller and listeners to rest, live and breathe inside the story. Instead of rocketing along to the end we would sit - quietly - inhabit the world of the story - together.”Practical Tip: As a speaker, litigator, podcaster, or platform teller use the Power of the Pause to invite your audience into the story you are telling them! That’s the world you’ll inhabit together. That’s where the call to action takes place. Ep 100160 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: How Does Our Passion Attract Other People?

Hello to you listening in Barrigada Village, Guam!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Interestingly, the word passion finds its root in both the Latin word passiō and the Greek word pathos, which both mean “suffering” suggesting that the things we care most about come from a place of suffering rather than joy.Today, passion means having very strong feelings about or a strong belief in something that moves you to action. Have we lost the notion of suffering? Not really. While the intent of the word has been diluted consider that being passionate is engaging in an intense desire to go toward your dreams. When you are truly passionate, you are motivated such that you are willing to endure pain and suffering to achieve your goals.Passion is what drives us. It helps us build our purpose and goals, our knowledge and capability. When we are deeply passionate our excitement attracts other people, as in this example: “If you catch fire with enthusiasm people will come from miles around to watch you burn. Now THAT’s being passionate!”Question: What goal or dream might have the potential to set you on fire with enthusiasm and passion? Ep 111560 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: Life Begs to Be Lived - Not Endured - So, Let Go!

Hello to you listening in Taoyaun City, Taiwan!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I’ve been asked, “So, what are you doing on this FallBattical of yours?” Work. Risk-taking, identity changing, gambling on myself work. I want to let go of living at the whim of digital age technology so that I can know the wisdom of this life that begs to be lived! It’s harder than it looks. What do I mean? “Some people believe that holding on and hanging there are signs of strength, but there are times in life when it takes much more strength just to let go.” [Ann Landers]I’m letting go. I’m paring away what no longer fits or suits or nourishes or sings. I’m clearing out the closet of me. I’m throwing the deck of cards of my life high into the air and watching while they flutter back to earth suggesting direction to what’s next.Question: What about you? Ep 111460 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Happens After Your Fields Have Been Harvested?

Hello to you, Steve Wyzga, listening in Frederick, Maryland on your Happy Birthday!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. To grow takes time.To grow takes patience, fortitude, even silence. To grow means letting go of what you know to allow life to help you recover so that you become fertile soil again. Walking the Camino de Santiago took me through harvested fields. All dry, brown, cut down to earth as far as the eye could see. One might think that nothing was going on in those fields; but you’d be wrong. Those fields are fallow.Fallow land remains unplanted for a time. Fallow land is land left to rest, regenerate, pause. It allows the soil of a field to replenish nutrients.Story Prompt: I’m taking this FallBattical time to rest, renew, recover, and grow. What about you? How will you become fertile soil again? Write that story. Ep 111360 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: How Can This Possibly Turn Out Well?

Hello to you listening in Puyallup, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Maybe like me your fears, worries, and anxieties can feel overwhelming at times. How could things turn out well? I turn to a favorite scene from the movie, Shakespeare in Love. Philip Henslowe is the promoter behind Shakespeare’s newest play. Henslowe is threatened by the play’s producer Hugh Fennyman and his thugs because Henslowe owes money to Fennyman. If the play opens as planned Henslowe can pay what’s owed; but The Rose Theatre is currently closed because of the plague. Philip Henslowe: Mr. Fennyman, allow me to explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster.Hugh Fennyman: So what do we do?Philip Henslowe: Nothing. Strangely enough, it all turns out well.Hugh Fennyman: How?Philip Henslowe: I don’t know. It’s a mystery.Click to watch the scene on YouTubePractical Tip: The next time you’re faced with some challenge, take a deep breathe and repeat, “Strangely enough it all turns out well. How? I don’t know. Ep 111160 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What’s Your Work & Who Will Finish It?

Hello to you listening in Fremont, California!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. In college I was taught by lay faculty and Benedictine monks. Today I follow Joan Chittister, an American Benedictine nun, theologian, author, and speaker who is known for being an outspoken advocate of justice, peace and equality focusing on the empowerment of women. In her book, The Monastic Heart - 50 Simple Practices for a Contemplative and Fulfilling Life, Chittister writes, “A spirituality of work is that process by which you finally come to know that your work is God’s work, unfinished by God because God meant it to be finished by you.” I say my work is "to help women shape and share their story: Who am I? What’s my Why or work? How do I do my work differently?"But the notion of “spirituality of work” puts a different spin on things. Is this my work? Is it meant to be finished by me?Story Prompt: What’s your work and who will finish it? Hello to you listening in Seattle, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Maybe like me there comes a time when you and your Life meet up on the road, stare at each other and say, “I know you from somewhere but who are you? When did we meet?” That’s happened to me. I have been so busy DO-ing I’ve neglected BE-ing. So much so that for the next 3 months I’ll be taking a “FallBattical” to reacquaint me with my Life. And, yes, I did coin that silly word right here, right now. I’m setting out with my Life to discover the next Chapter of I am * I can * I will. I’ll continue my podcast episodes to share my journey but most everything else will go on hold. If you’d like to come along e-mail me [[email protected]] your own "FallBattical" thoughts, insights, questions and stories; I’ll feature them here on my program. Meanwhile, discovery awaits: "But now I have spoken of that great sea, the ocean of longing shifts through me, the blessed inner star of navigation moves in the dark sky above and I am ready like the young salmon to leave his river, blessed with hunger for a great journey on the drawing tide." Ep 110960 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: How to Get Unstuck & Walk Your Way to Solutions

Hello, to you listening in San Lorenzo, California!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Maybe like me you’ve gotten stuck. Maybe you’re stuck now; you don’t know what to do.If you’re stuck, don’t watch what you think; watch what you do. You can walk your way clear. Walking activates a storehouse of strengths, experiences, helpful teachings, solutions gathered over your lifetime. Feeling connected with the earth liberates our imaginations.4 Steps:✓ Decide on the issue you want to bring on your walk,✓ Invite your Creativity to come along and fully expect it will show up,✓ Toss out possibilities, ideas or solutions for your Creativity to work on with you, and✓ As you walk let your mind wander but every now and again come back to the issue at hand.Sooner than you expect solutions will fall into your consciousness. Ep 110860 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: When Has Fear of Getting in Trouble NOT Held You Back?

Hello to you listening in Castelo Branco, Portugal!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently, my sister told me about the disgust she felt listening to others continue to spread the unsubstantiated lie that legal Haitian immigrants living in Springfield, Ohio were stealing and eating their neighbors’ pets. She said she had to speak out for those who had no voice.Maybe it’s true and maybe it isn’t but once there was a teacher in a classroom of children who took a goldfish out of its bowl, set it on her desk, told the children that if they got out of their seat they would be punished, and left the room. The children sat and watched as the fish flopped around gasping for air.No one wanted to get in trouble. So there they sat.Until one little girl jumped out of her seat, picked up the fish and put it back in the bowl where it began to swim. The teacher who had been watching through the window in the door came back into the classroom. “Is there only one among you who has the courage to stand up to authority? This is the lesson you must learn: Never let the fear of getting in trouble stop you from doing what’s right.”Story Prompt: When has fear of getting in trouble NOT stopped you from doing what’s right? Hello to you listening in Council Bluffs, Iowa!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I’m revisiting my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage as I do at this time every year; but it’s a trip I almost didn’t make.As the pilot indicated our descent into Madrid, Spain I had made up my mind that I could not, should not, and would not walk the Camino de Santiago.I would pick up my pack and catch the next flight home.I was no pilgrim. What changed? Before we landed I opened a card from my friend Lorraine that I had tucked between the pages of my Camino guide book. She wrote, “Well done!” Her words continued: "As you read this thousands of feet above the earth (how could she have known that?) you may be wondering why I wrote “Well done!” before you set out on your Camino de Santiago journey. Regardless of what does or doesn’t happen from here on out, you will be forever changed simply because you showed up. Hello, to you listening in Salford, England!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.I practice the Five Remembrances as taught by Thich Nhat Hanh: I am of a nature to get old, get sick, and die, be separated from those I love, and there is nothing I can do about it. Ep 110260 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: The Power of the Script =-> A Professional's Secret Weapon

Hello to you listening in Chiclana de la Frontera, Spain!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently, I was told to stop using a script for my podcast. I was told to take off the training wheels. I was told to fly free. I said “No!” Ever wonder why top speakers and broadcasters often use scripts? It's not a crutch—it's a tool for excellence. 10 ways your script serves you:✓ Precision: Scripts ensure every word counts, especially in time-constrained formats.✓ Clarity: Writing helps organize thoughts, resulting in a more coherent message.✓ Concision: Scripting allows for editing, cutting fluff, and honing key points.✓ Consistency: Regular scripting develops a recognizable style and voice.✓ Preparation: Scripts reduce anxiety and boost confidence before recording or speaking.✓ Professionalism: Well-crafted words reflect dedication to your craft and audience.✓ Time Management: Scripts help maintain pacing and hit crucial points within time limits.✓ Flexibility: A good script serves as a guide, not a cage, allowing for natural delivery.✓ Quality Control: Writing enables review and refinement before going live.✓ Respect: Preparing thoroughly shows you value your listeners' time and attention.Story Prompt: A script isn't about reading robotically—it's about crafting your message with intention. The best speakers make their carefully prepared words sound spontaneous. How do you embrace your script, not as training wheels, but a launchpad for powerful communication? Write that story! You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your Origin Story & communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with Diane on as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron Music

Ep 109060 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: Resistance, Thy Name Is Fear. Now What to Do?

Hello to you listening in Midrand, South Africa!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. For over 4 years now two really smart, savvy, and creative friend/colleagues and I have spent a weekly 90 minutes in a wonderfully supportive, encouraging, questioning, critiquing, hot seating, provocative, and brainstorming MasterMind group. Before we get together we exchange our 4Rs from the prior week: Result, Reach, Resistance, Resource.Ah, Resistance! Thy name is Fear. Making a move is a step we often don’t want to take because we feel afraid, bored, uncertain, anxious, tired, or just plain disgusted. It’s true that when the way ahead is unclear, Time can be the best guide. But it’s also true that we might begin by taking the first step, the one right in front of us, the one close in as poet David Whyte reminds us in his poem, Start Close In. Maybe like me you are learning that the sooner you face up to your Resistance and take that first step toward your task or project the more confident you’ll feel making progress and then asking yourself, “What took me so long?”Story Prompt: Remember a time when you faced your Resistance and despite your fear boldly took that next step, and the next, and the one after that until ... What happened next? Write that story! You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ Get in touch with me today to arrange your no-sales Discovery Chat, and✓ Stay current with Diane on as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 108960 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: You Can’t Read the Label Sitting Inside the Jar

Hello to you listening in Cordoba, Spain!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. Is my Origin Story work positioned as a Vitamin or an Advil? "Vitamins are nice to have but not urgent. Whereas if you’re in pain you want an Advil - and fast!" These wise words came from my dear friend and colleague, Anke Herrmann (Strategic Partner, Author, Podcast Host & Dog Lover). To answer that question I need a little sounding board help because, as Anke says, “How do you expect to read the label when you’re sitting inside the jar?”This much I know: each of us needs a sounding board. Perhaps I can be that for you. This is what else I know about how I can help:✓ Stories have shaped you and brought you to this point but you might need help to find the words you didn’t know you had.✓ You came into the world with a voice. Your voice is your power. Your story is an expression of your power; but you might lack the awareness or confidence to express yourself or tell your story. ✓ Your Who + Your Why + Your How - in that order - sets you above the noise in the marketplace; but how do you get there? ✓ Much contemporary storytelling focuses on content at the expense of context; if you’re telling just the facts you’re missing the emotional story.✓ Stories must engage us with imagination, sensory images, and memories to be meaningful; I can teach you to teach yourself to be that storyteller. Question: What stories do you, your clients and audience need right now to ease pain, heal, and transform?CTA: It’s time for you to take those steps to relieve the pain of confusion, anxiety, uncertainty, and lack of confidence about using your voice to say what you mean and mean what you say in any personal or professional setting, to nail that interview, clarify your ideas, and influence your listeners while transforming the lives of those you serve. Arrange for a Discovery Chat with me today: DM me on LinkedIn or e-mail me at [email protected]. Sound me out! Ep 108760 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: You Have the Power to Influence Human History. Use It!

Hello to you listening in Hinton, Alberta, Canada!Coming to you Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga."...human history is a history not only of cruelty but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places - and there are so many - where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don't have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us is itself a marvelous victory." [Dr. Howard Zinn, inspired by the life & spirit of Fannie Lou Hamer]Story Prompt: You have the power to influence human history: to speak out, solve problems, shed light on inequality, invest in compassion, tell inspiring stories and more, in defiance of all that is bleak, bad, grim. Ep 108360 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Your Communication Challenge Meets My Solutions

Hello to you listening in Woodburn, Oregon!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Does this sound familiar:✓ I want to find the words to express myself and my story.✓ I want to be able to answer that frequent business or social setting question “So, what do you do?” in an engaging, heartfelt way.✓ I want to feel fully comfortable and confident in my response. Can you help me?Yes. I know how to solve your problem. Listen to the words of one satisfied client: “There is a school of thought that says overuse of a word cheapens its meaning, however, I don’t believe that applies to thanks and gratitude. So, I’ll say it again. THANK YOU for helping me with my origin story and guiding me back along the paths once trod to find the juicy bits that (of course) have been guiding my thinking and work all along, albeit so intuitively that I had almost forgotten. By bringing them to the forefront again in my crafted origin story/s, I have unearthed the ways in which my Who drives my Why and my How.”Here's another: “I shared recordings of our work with my CEO to demonstrate the communication progress I’ve made. He graded me a 9/10, which is just under his highest rating of 9.5. I am beyond thrilled and grateful to you for helping me clarify my thought processes, re-consider my approach, and ask the right questions of my clients to know how to best listen out their needs, and offer spot on solutions. Working with you loosened up the knots blocking my creativity and curiosity.”CTA: If you’re curious about how to find the words to express yourself and your story so that you are seen, heard, understood, and listened to, arrange a no-sales Discovery Chat with me today. Hello to you listening in Trenton, Ontario, Canada!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories from Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Have you ever wondered about the power of storytelling as medicine? Recently I shared the mic with my Canadian friend, colleague, and podcaster, Elizabeth Nicholas of Your Employment Detective podcast to reveal some answers. Imagine that you are struggling with self-doubt, instability, or just plain frustrated. Where to look for help? Meaningful clues to help you can be found in your very own story so you can take your next great step. Together, Elizabeth and I went on a metaphorical journey gaining deeper insights into the power of story to heal and show us the way much like a lighthouse guides ships at sea. Let’s get started because as always, the clues await.Highlights✓ How your WHO (who you are) precedes your WHY (the mission or purpose of your life);✓ The importance of marrying story content and context; ✓ Teaching yourself the power of storytelling;✓ Elizabeth’s “ah ha!” that our stories are far more powerful than we tend to give them credit for; and✓ The radically human need for the art and craft of storytelling in today’s world.Click HERE to listen to our podcast conversation on Spotify OR here => https://open.spotify.com/episode/2JUqPIPgRgSn2ofPCKpSo3Get in Touch With Elizabeth Nicholas BIOElizabeth Nicholas, CHRP/CHRL, CCDP, CHATP, Career Specialist and host of Your Employment Detective, a podcast for Military and Veteran Spouses seeking to solve their career mysteries. Ep 108160 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: Write THAT Story! Yes, But How Do I Do That?

Hello to you listening in Halmsted, Sweden!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. For those who have followed my global podcast for over 4 years you know that Fridays are all about Story Prompts. It’s an opportunity for you to “Write THAT Story!” based on your ideas and creativity after listening to the episode, the question, and the prompt. But what if you don’t know how to begin? At its most basic a story is 3 parts: beginning, middle and end. But you knew that, right? What you might not know is my storyteller secret: a story is something was (beginning) + something happened (middle) + something is (end).3-Step Tip: Step 1: Enjoy 15 minutes of free writing just to get your creativity going. Step 2: Start your story at the end, the place where something is as a result of what happened, what came before. Now you have a conclusion, a finale, a resolution to write toward. It’s like having a goal or a destination. Step 3: Once you have a sense about where you’re headed, your task is to get there.Story Prompt: 3 parts to a story, 3 steps to how to create it. Write that story! You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ Arrange your no-sales, Complimentary Coaching Consult, and✓ Stay current with Diane on as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts.
