Ep 109109: Seahawks draft talk with Rob Staton, 2016 schedule with Dave Bloomquist

NFL Draft talk and the release of the 2016 NFL Schedule dominate this week's jam packed show. Adam and Brandan start the show by talking about an offensive lineman they'd like to see land with the Seahawks, Jason Spriggs a tackle from Indiana, and why Spriggs seems like the type of guy Seattle would want. To get deeper into the draft, Rob Staton of Seahawks Draft Blog and co-host of the 3000 NFL Mock Draft Podcast breaks down his formula for identifying players most likely to fit the Seahawks profile for an offensive lineman. He points out the formula isn't a predictor of performance in the NFL, but a predictor of a player with the traits the team tends to look for. Rob also offers his thoughts on the one player more than any other he'd like to see fall to Seattle, guys at other skill positions, and another offensive lineman who might be his favorite story in the draft. Next Adam and Brandan get into the schedule and welcome on listener Dave Bloomquist to talk about the schedule. There wasn't a more outspoken critic of last season's schedule, so what does Dave have to think about it this year? After a few news items, we get into your emails and comments. In the Do Better segment, Adam talks about his recent trip to get his license renewed before the guys break down an arrest video by former Heisman Trophy winner and 49ers backup quarterback Troy Smith. Better at life nods go to former Seahawk Patrick Kerney for giving back to players in the league by sharing his knowledge and experience. Lastly, Adam explains why Inky the octopus is better at life than Skip Bayless. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus episodesDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 108108: 2016 offensive line "in good shape," a look at drafting defensive line and how NFL Network disrespected Steve Largent

A couple weeks back, we looked at the first wave of NFL free agents and now the Seahawks and the rest of the NFL are on to wave two. The guys talk about the impact of Russell Okung heading to Denver, how to gauge how well he did without an agent despite initial media reports talking about how terrible it was, and what the Seahawks are going to do next with their two most senior offensive lineman out the door. Adam and Brandan get into comments made by Bruce Irvin and how the Seahawks held him back from reaching his full potential. They also try and read into comments by the Seahawks and Kam Chancellor about how everything seems to be good on both sides at this point. What did either side get out of the meeting to feel so great about where they stand now going into the upcoming season. With the NFL draft less than a month away, the guys talk defensive lineman and a few of the guys on their radar coming out of the combine and who would be available in the first couple rounds for the Seahawks. Even though offensive line appears to be a strong need, Adam and Brandan talk about why it's possible that Seattle won't address the position right away in the draft. After the break, the guys get into your Facebook comments and emails. They explain why NFL Network and Todd McShay both need to do better. Lastly, why Bryce Harper and Aaron Rodgers and better at life than Skip Bayless. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus episodesDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 107107: Free agency begins, saying goodbye to some key players, and Matt Hasselbeck's return to Seattle

Free agency has begun and while the Seahawks haven't yet brought in any players from outside the organization, the focus has been keeping the guys who wanted to test the market. Unfortunately, it also means we have to say goodbye to players who had a big impact on the Seahawks playoff runs over the past few years. J.R. Sweezy heads to Tampa to join the Bucs, Brandon Mebane goes to the Chargers and Bruce Irvin becomes a member of the Raiders. Adam and Brandan offer their thoughts about free agency to this point. In other news, the guys look forward to welcoming Matt Hasselbeck back to Seattle (even if it is only for a day), talk about Kam Chancellor wanting to buy a gym being some sort of reason to call the police and why is Marshawn Lynch still on the team's payroll. After the break, some comments and questions about free agency and the difference between the Seahawks and the Broncos defenses last season. What can the Seahawks do to bounce back? Do Better nominees go to an NFL insider and a major news network for some interesting moments in free agency. Better at life honors go to a 12 who ripped a championship from a Broncos fan and a former NBA star who has his sights on the NFL. Ep 106106: Seahawks free agents, combine news and emails

The guys talk about Pete Caroll and John Schneider as they make an appearance at the combine in Indianapolis for their first press conferences since the end of the season. Adam and Brandan talk about the injury updates they offered along with the other bits of information of interest to Seahawks fans. With free agency just around the corner, the guys talk about which current players they would prioritize re-signing and which they could consider parting ways with considering the amount of cap space avaiable. The guys discuss the franchise tag and how for some players it doesn’t make sense consider just how much the pay scale is thrown off by some of the most elite players within a broad position group. On the topic of guys who want to get elite pay, Michael Bennett dropped his agent in favor of the guy who represented Marshawn Lynch and got BeastMode a nice payday for his final year. They talk about what that could mean going forward. After the break, the guys have some new music to play during the email portion of the show while we read some of your questions and feedback. Do Better nods go out to Elliot Harrison and the NFL, while the NFL is also heralded in the Better at Life segment along with Lady Gaga. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus episodesDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 105105: Thanks BEASTMODE, a tribute to Marshawn Lynch

When an iconic player like Marshawn Lynch retires, it's something that deserves its own show. Adam and Brandan take a look back at some of the most memorable moments from Marshawn both on the field and off it. The guys take you back to the game where Lynch was first caught on the sidelines reaching for a bag of Skittles to calm his upset stomach to the time where Marshawn went on a home shopping channel to proclaim his love for tasting the rainbow. Steve Raible has injected the catch phrase "Holy Catfish" into several memorable plays over the years, but you may not remember the first Marshawn Lynch call where it originated. We get into that as well as some of the greatest runs we've ever seen from a Seattle Seahawks running back and arguably the single greatest run we've ever seen in the NFL. Finally, we talk about how to cope with a player of his magnitude leaving the team and what his credentials are for potential Hall of Fame status. Analysts throw around numbers all the time, but the only number they should be talking about is 2--the number of times Marshawn caused earthquakes to register at CenturyLink Field. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus episodesDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 104104: Division Round recap, thoughts on the season, was this the last of Marshawn in Seattle?

The first show since our first show that we're coming off a loss in the Divisional Round. While we hoped it would be another year of the podcast leading up to the Super Bowl, it was bound to come to an end sometime. Adam and Brandan talk about the Seahawks matchup with the Panthers and how Carolina's energy propelled them to a tremendous lead. Yet, even down 31-0, this team didn't give up and fought back. The defense shut the Panthers out the rest of the way and the Seahawks carried a huge amount of momentum through the second half, but simply ran out of time in the end. The guys talk about what this season meant for the team, some of Coach Carroll's thoughts following the game and some early thoughts on the team moving forward. We get into your emails following the loss, even entertain an email from a Carolina Panthers fan, and discuss the offensive line and how it simply wasn't strong enough to go up against teams with a dominant pass rush. Adam sets a personal goal for the coming season with his do better vote and Brandan goes after an official who has one simple job at the start of overtime. Better at life nods go to a Patriots player who risked his career to save a life as well as the Seahawks organization and a 7-year-old displaced Seahawks fan. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus episodesDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 103103: Vikings recap, Panthers preview, the first SHP live show

An improbable win for the Seahawks this week as the Vikings kicker misses a late field goal that would've given the team the lead. The win was unlikely for a couple reasons. First, because no playoff team since 1978 has won a playoff game after not scoring in the first three quarters and Blair Walsh missed the shortest field goal that would've given his team a win. Adam and Brandan talk about how much of it had to do with playing in temperatures that cold and some of the plays that led to a Seahawks win. The defense played another road game where they didn't allow a touchdown and that made a huge difference in Sunday's game. The guys preview the rematch against the Carolina Panthers. Although the Panthers won their matchup in Seattle earlier this year, there are a lot of things that have changed since the first matchup. Not only that, the Seahawks defense has a solid history of taking down teams that have led the NFL in scoring. After the break, the guys read some of your reviews along with a great Seahawks story from New Zealand. Do better nods go to the Carolina Panthers for their oddly specific rules on flags and banners and the Bengals who helped blow their chances at moving on in the playoffs. Better at life honors go to Earl Thomas and Colin Cowherd. This was the first live show via Blab. Ep 102102: Cardinals Recap, a record setting defensive season, Vikings preview

The Seahawks put on their Superman costumes and put their undefeated record in their wolf grey uniforms on the line as they go into Glendale for the season finale. Adam and Brandan talk about how unexpected it was for the defense to get the record for scoring defense that seemed out of reach coming into a matchup with a high scoring offense like the Cardinals. Next up in the playoffs, the Seahawks face one of the tougher defenses, a Vikings defense now more healthy than last time, among the teams in the Wild Card round. But the thing that stands out most from the previous game was the Minnesota offense, completely healthy at the time, failed to put any points on the board. With temperatures expected to be well below freezing, a couple Montana boys give you tips on how to keep warm if you plan on attending the game. With the tickets much more reasonable than a game in Seattle, anyone in the area, and maybe even outside the area, should try and be there to support the team. In the final segment of the show, we get into our do better nominations directed toward a two-time coach of the year and a quarterback in disguise. Better at life nods go out to an overseas listener who experienced the beatdown of the Cardinals in person and the UK Sea Hawkers president who had a tremendous impact on the lives of many Seahawks fans. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 101101: Rams recap, Seahawks potential playoff opponents, Cardinals preview

The Seahawks lose for the third time at home this season, this time losing 23-17 to the St. Louis Rams. Leading from start to finish, they snap Russell Wilson and the Seahawks' streak of having a lead at some point during the game. Adam and Brandan talk about how it seemed like St. Louis was going to win when they managed to fumble their way down the field on their way to 23 points. Seattle had a chance at coming back up until Wilson lost the ball on the 10-yard line with less than five minutes to play. Looking ahead, the guys take a look at the Seahawks potential playoff matchups and who they'd like to see the team play among the Packers, Vikings and Skins. Based on the outcome of the Seahawks and Cardinals, the Sunday night game could determine which team will play the Seahawks in the first round. This week's game against the Cardinals will be Seattle's first chance to get into playoff mode, playing on the road against a team that has a shot to lock up the top seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. We respond to emails that came in this week before getting into Do Better. This week's picks are the San Diego Chargers organization and a guy in the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame with more than 20 Sports Emmys on his shelf at home. Better at life honors go out to J.J. Abrams this week and a 15-year veteran wide receiver who has decided to return for a final season. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 100100: Browns recap, Seahawks lock up Wild Card, Rams preview

So many milestones to celebrate in this week's show. Our 100th show and the Seahawks are into the playoff for four straight seasons. Seattle locks up a wildcard spot with a 30-13 win over the Cleveland Browns at home. Additionally, seven Pro Bowl players are announced for the Seahawks. We talk about who got in and who just missed out. Thanks to all of the listeners who sent in emails and call wishing us well on our milestone show, in continues with talk about the upcoming matchup with the Rams and whether or not there is any concern about the Rams showing a level of competitiveness against Tampa Bay last Sunday. Our do better nods go to a basketball player who has a shrine build in China dedicated to his greatness and Kurt Warner or any other analyst who utters the phrase "he's not elite yet, but he's playing at an elite level." Finally, Adam's Better at Life honors go out to a guy who recently signed to the Jets practice squad and as several Seahawks reach some big team and individual milestones this week, Brandan celebrates a milestone in his personal life. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 9999: Ravens recap, an amazing stretch for Russell Wilson, Browns preview

The Seahawks made their final trip to the east coast for the regular season and as the playoff picture begins to take shape, it looks like they'll be heading back that way to start the postseason. Seattle gets another blowout victory defeating the Ravens 35-6. But it comes with a cost as rookie Thomas Rawls goes down to injury and is out for the rest of the season. The guys take a look at the running back situation. Fortunately Marshawn Lynch is set to return, maybe in time for the playoffs to start. Until then Bryce Brown will see some action after jumping on and off the roster and now Christine Michael is also returning to the team. But is there much concern about the running game with Russell Wilson playing the way he is and playing at a level never seen before in NFL history. The guys open up the mailbag in the second half of the show and have a conversation around momentum, a tour fans have to see if they're coming in from out of town for a game, and a review from Italy. Do better nods go to the NFL for changing how officials will review potential penalties in the postseason and the infamous Pete Prisco. Better at life honors go to the Browns organization for a personnel decision and a sideline reporter for reaching a big milestone. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

2015 Week 13: Vikings recap, Seahawks put NFL on notice

bonus

The Seahawks dominate in a 38-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and the Seattle rookies along with Russell Wilson were some of the biggest highlights of the day. A few conflicts kept us from doing a whole show, but that just means we'll have to come back later this week with a Ravens preview and our traditional Do Better and Better at Life segments. Until then, we have a huge win to celebrate from Sunday that puts Seattle into the conversation as one of those teams that nobody wants to play in the playoffs. Russell Wilson, after talking up his game last week, goes on to give us another dominant performance showing why a case could be made for him as MVP. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041 Email: [email protected] Visit Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus content Download our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.org Music from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 9898: Steelers recap, impact of losing Graham for the season, Vikings preview

The Seahawks have been winless against Pittsburgh for more than 10 years, and with the 39-30 victory the Seahawks beat a Ben Roethlisberger-led Steelers team for the first time. Adam and Brandan take a look at a couple critical errors by the Steelers and how the Seahawks were able to continue to show promise through improved offensive line play. Jimmy Graham is out for the season with a knee injury. How is this going to impact this team moving forward and how might the team respond to one of its top players going down just when things were starting to look like they were coming together. Next up, a Vikings team that has earned it's 8-3 record by running the ball well and playing defense. The guys look at ways the Seahawks may want to attack Minnesota's defense and how critical it will be for the Seattle defense to hold Adrian Peterson to minimal yards, get out to an early lead and attempt to make the Vikings team one dimensional. The guys get into your emails and it becomes clear that the win over the Steelers struck a chord with some Seahawks fans. Do better nods go to the NFL head of officiating and Steelers fans. Better at life honors go toward a play caller who has taken a lot of heat this season and Jeremy Lane after coming back into the lineup for the team for the first time since the Super Bowl loss. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 9797: 49ers recap, two standout performances by Seahawks rookies, Steelers preview

Seattle is back to .500 with a 29-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Russell Wilson had a near perfect day and was perfect against the blitz, Thomas Rawls racked up more yards from scrimmage than Christine Michael had rushing yards in his entire Seahawks career, and Tyler Lockett catches two touchdown passes on the day to help the team toward victory. Adam and Brandan talk about the key plays in the game against the 49ers. Next up is a challenging matchup with the 6-4 Steelers. Big Ben will make his first visit to Seattle as the LOB faces off against a receiving corps and quarterback that rival the NFC West leading Cardinals. With Marshawn Lynch out for the coming weeks, Seahawks fans will get to see a lot more of the Rawling Ball and if he continues to show the talent to pick up where Lynch left off. Though it's a bit early to talk playoffs, the guys take a look at the question of who Seahawks fans should cheer for in the Minnesota Vikings matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, as that game has big implications for where the Seahawks could end up in the playoff picture. In the final part of the show, do better nods go out to the 49ers coaching staff and a string of celebrity quarterback reports that shows the incredibly lazy nature of sports journalism. Better at life honors go to a comedian on HBO for his take on a fantasy sports issue and a wide receiver for the Rams who is in stable condition and recovering from a gunshot wounds to the head that were reportedly non-life threatening. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 9696: Cardinals recap, frustrations with this 2015 team, 49ers preview

Another week against a winning team and another fourth quarter meltdown where the team is unable to hold a lead. As Adam says, "twice is a trend and three times is a you problem," we come to realize that we've never had to get to five before. What is five? We still don't know. We do know that there was reason to have confidence going into this game, but it's tough when your offense digs a first half hole thanks to penalties. We talk about other uncharacteristic moments that contributed to the loss and why this season has been so frustrating. Three good things came out of this game: Mr. T scored a touchdown, Doug Baldwin had a big game and red zone efficiency improved. The other good thing is the 49ers are the next team on the schedule. We talk about what the 49ers get by having Blaine Gabbert under center. We get to your emails, do better nods go to a player agent and a Seahawks fan who needs to know when it's okay to call a game. Better at life honors go to a coach for giving a young player his moment to start and the daughter of a former Seahawks quarterback for a quote that will make you smile. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] us via PatreonDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 9595: Midseason review, offensive line struggles and previewing the Cardinals matchup

The Seahawks are 4-4 and coming out of their bye week into the second half of the season. A listener from Hawaii emails in to say that this team winning close games is the one we've loved watching over the last few years. The performance over the first half of the season shouldn't be that unexpected. Next, Adam introduces a new moniker to motivate the offensive line for the second half of the season, as they'll be known as the 'ole line' until things improve. The guys preview the matchup against the Cardinals and similar to last year, the Seahawks provide a tough matchup for a Cardinals team that likes to take shots down the field. Brandan and Adam key in on the running game being a key part of both team's success and the defensive line for the Seahawks could have a great opportunity to attack a Cardinals offensive line that has struggled particularly on the right side. Listener and Patreon donor Ross Wilwerding joins the show to provide some of his thoughts on the matchup. In the second half of the show, we get into some of the emails that came in over the bye week. One listener makes a call to action over beer prohibition at arbitrary times of the day. Adam the curmudgeon makes an appearance with his disgust over televisions showing up in random spots, while Brandan is too disgusted to talk about Greg Hardy, so he directs his disgust toward Matt Cassel's mustache. Better at life nods go to a pair of Oklahoma quarterbacks in the NFL and Ricardo Lockette. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] us via PatreonDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation Join the Sea Hawkers Podcast Pick 'em league on NFL.com.

Ep 9494: Seahawks 13-12 win over Dallas, Wilson's 4th quarter comeback, Ricardo Lockette update

One more point than the other team is what it takes to win, and that's exactly what the Seahawks do with their 13-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Takeaways from this game include another great performance by the defense, an underwhelming performance in the red zone for the offense and continued wishes that Ricardo Lockette recovers from the devastating hit he took right before halftime. Something that we've missed to this point in the season was Russell Wilson coming through in the clutch in the fourth quarter and that was something he delivered this week. Sure a touchdown would have been nice, but thanks to the defense it was all they needed to get in that final minute following a scoring drive that took a lot of time off the clock. With a bye next week, the guys rejoice in the fact that Seattle is heading into the bye week at 4-4 and in control of their destiny in terms of reclaiming the NFC West title. Do better nods go out to the local area Adam is currently visiting and the announcers for poorly handling a sensitive moment when Lockette was injured on the field. Marshawn Lynch has another Better at Life worthy act and Brandan gives a shout out to TD for producing one of the NFL's newest podcasts with former Seahawks Michael Robinson and Nate Burleson. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] us via PatreonDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 9393: 49ers recap, Cowboys preview, discovering the formula for the Seahawks success

For three straight years Seattle has played at the Super Bowl's location during the regular season and won. This time it's a 20-3 victory over the 49ers with a dominant defensive performance. However, if you came away from that game feeling like something was missing, Brandan explains why he thinks there's a really good reason. Before we get into the matchup with the Cowboys, an email comes in to explain the Seahawks success and failure so far this season. The guys take a look at a Dallas team that looks very different than it did when the season started and a quarterback in Matt Cassel who had a worse quarterback rating with no pressure than Colin Kaepernick had in the game against the Seahawks. We read your emails and through some discussion we realize the formula for the Seahawks success. In the Do Better segment, Adam voices his frustration with the Cardinals luck so far this season and Brandan talks about why his visit to Levi Stadium was one of the worst experiences he's had as a fan at any profession or college venue cheering for either the home or the visiting team. Better at life nods go to Sammy Hagar who provided fans of the home team with a single bright spot on the day and a listener who successfully converted a 49ers fan to a Seahawks fan. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] the show via PatreonDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 9292: Searching for answers after a Panthers loss, the Pareto principle, 49ers preview

Another fourth quarter meltdown, leads Adam and Brandan to continue to search for answers as to what might be going on with this Seahawks team. Has money and fame changed this team, is poor conditioning to blame why they aren't able to pull through in the end, or is it the Pareto principle. Adam explains the principle and how it applies to the Seahawks situation. Though we've gotten away from pointing fingers at the offensive line, the guys seem to settle on the inability to protect Russell Wilson is a primary reason for their rough start. This defense has given up leads in the past, but Russell Wilson had at least enough of an opportunity to mount a comeback in many games over his past three seasons. That's not happening this year. Is this the best or worst time of the year to face the 49ers? The outcome of this game could lead this team to the darkest place it has been in the era of coach Carroll. The guys break down what the Seahawks need to do to ensure they come out on the winning side this week. In the second half of the show, Adam rants on a guy he had to eject from the Facebook page and Brandan has questions about why food stamps are only good for food at particular temperatures. Adam explains why he thinks John Elway is better at life than Skip, and Brandan rewards Alaska Airlines with the honor after a solid customer service experience. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] us via PatreonDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation Join the Sea Hawkers Podcast Pick 'em league on NFL.com.

Ep 9191: Bengals recap, Seahawks need a Cardinal sacrifice, Panthers preview, Patreon annoucement

The guys can't get 10 seconds into the show without a catfish bomb dropping. After blowing a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter and losing 27-24 in overtime to the Cincinnati Bengals, it's tough to think of another more appropriate way to react. Brandan and Adam take a look at what went wrong and Adam talks about his feelings. He's not mad, but he's more than disappointed, because it's already looking like this team can write off home field advantage after enjoying it for the past two seasons. Brandan feels like it may be time to take a page out of Major League. Just like Pedro Cerrano who couldn't hit the curveball, this defense all of a sudden can't hold a lead in the fourth quarter. A quick look at the Panthers matchup and a look back at how, as fans, it's important to follow the rules. And we all know the rules, we just have to execute. Know the rule of 18 and what to do. In the second half of the show we announce the rollout of our Patreon page if you'd like to help support the show. Ep 9090: Lions recap, more Monday night controversy

The Seattle Seahawks win a close one over the Detroit Lions, 13-10, thanks to a big play by Kam Chancellor and a non-call that goes the Seahawks way. It was the Russell Wilson show doing things only Russell Wilson can do that put the Seahawks in position to win the game, but turnovers and the play along the o-line also allowed this game to be so close. Brandan and Adam talk about the final play on defense and how if K.J. Wright makes that play slightly differently, there is no controversy. But consider the controversy if the refs make the call -- then it's a bad rule that impacted the outcome of the game (just like a certain play in the end zone for the Detroit Lions a few years back). It's a short show (no Bengals preview), because we had time to get a show in before we hit the road back to Montana. We get into our customary Do Better and Better at Life segments with observations on the CenturyLink crowd and around the stadium, and how Coke is negatively impacting Adam's life. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation Join the Sea Hawkers Podcast Pick 'em league on NFL.com.

Ep 8989: Bears recap, state of the NFC West, Lions preview

The Seahawks get into the win column for the first time this season with a 26-0 victory over the Chicago Bears. There's a lot to be excited about from this game, but as listeners will notice from Adam's tone, there's also some things that continue to frustrate fans. Special teams was a big part of this win with 10 points coming from kick and punt returns and another nine points in field goals. After the recap of the Bears, the guys take a look at the state of the NFC West. How are things playing out three weeks into the season compared to what was expected before the season started? The Cardinals are having a ton of success to this point. At what point in the season with the Arizona Cardinals be tested? Next up on the schedule is the Detroit Lions. Adam contends this this team is one that does nothing well, and Brandan thinks it's clear they're better than the Bears. If there's one thing we can depend on for the Lions so far this season is to not show up in the second half of the football game, which is where Seahawks fans have seen their team show some proficiency to this point. Do better nods this week go to Chris Sims of Bleacher Report as well as any analyst who dares to talk about our cornerback not having enough speed merely by watching his punt return. Better at Life nods go to NASA scientists and Richard Sherman for his postgame commentary. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation Join the Sea Hawkers Podcast Pick 'em league on NFL.com.

Ep 8888: Packers recap, play calling versus execution, Bears preview

Kam Chancellor is coming back to the Seahawks. But you wouldn't know it by listening to this episode, because we recorded the night before the big news. Instead of that news, we talk about the Green Bay loss and everyone's insistence to make sure nobody is panicking. There was a lot to be frustrated about in the loss to the Packers. Adam narrows it down to penalties in the first half leading to points for the Green Bay offense early. We talk bout how Jimmy Graham did not get involved in the game, and how we interpret play calling versus play execution and how it might dictate where you want to send your waves of frustration toward. After an 0-2 start, the Bears are looking like the perfect team to get the Seahawks back on track. Chicago is giving up tons of points and yards on defense, the offense looks to be without Jay Cutler and the backup did not look great against the Cardinals. Now they have to come into Seattle and deal with a crowd that will be fired up for the home kickoff of the 2015 season. How do the head coach and offensive coordinator work together? We answer that along with other emails. Brandan goes in defense of Kam Chancellor and anyone that considers his behavior childish. Adam goes on a rant about everyone coming to the defense of Andrew Luck, when nobody seems to do the same for Russell Wilson. Better at life nods go to Chris Boreland, former 49ers linebacker, a guy who has a story that continues to interest us even after retirement as well as a nod to whoever decided to listen to us about putting in cameras as part of the pylons. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation Join the Sea Hawkers Podcast Pick 'em league on NFL.com.

Ep 8787: Packers preview, Troy Heinritz interview (Packers Fan Podcast)

In this show, we preview the Seahawks matchup with the Packers on Sunday Night Football. Not only a matchup of great teams, but the Packers were undefeated at home last season and the Seahawks have only lost one primetime game with head coach Pete Carroll. We talk about some of the matchups we'd like to see the Seahawks take advantage of and the challenges the Seahawks defense will be faced with. Troy Heinritz of the Packers Fan Podcast joins the show to talk about how he sees the matchup between the two teams. Unfortunately Green Bay jettisoned one of the players who was key to the Seahawks win in January. It just doesn't count as an actual episode if we don't get to our picks for Do Better and Better at Life. Find out why the state of Pennsylvania and the 49ers need to do better. Plus a reminder of why we pick someone better at life than Skip Bayless: this week Marcus Mariotta and Seahawks fan Ken Graat get the honors. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] fill out our short audience surveyDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

2015 Week 1: Rams Recap, Chancellor update

bonus

Another game and another yard short as the Seahawks lose 34-31 to the Rams to start the 2015 season. Adam and Brandan touch on the positives and the negatives from the past game including a look at the offensive line, red zone performance and a more aggressive style in defense in some aspects. One thing that hasn't changed: Michaell Bennett still seems to think the neutral zone is an okay place to hang out prior to the snap. We have our first conspiracy theory of the season as Adam thinks Hauschka was executing exactly what he was told to do for the overtime kickoff. He doesn't buy the explanation coming from the players or coaches that the ball was supposed to be kicked farther down the field. Even with the loss, there were some big plays to be excited about--all from new members of the team. We talk about the sack, strip and score by Cary Williams, Jimmy Graham's touchdown catch and the first regular season punt return by a Seahawks player in a long time. We take a look at some of the email reactions from the game and give an update on Kam Chancellor from last week along with what seems to be the trending sentiment among Seahawks fans when it comes to Chancellor's holdout. Note: Look for a full show later in the week to preview the Packers game along with news from the week and the traditional second half segments. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041 Email: [email protected] Download our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.org Music from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 8686: Raiders recap, Seahawks cut to 53-man roster, Week 1 preview vs Rams

So much to cover in this week's show! The Seahawks wrap up the preseason with a 31-21 win over the Oakland Raiders. The rookies shine as Tyler Lockett scores his third touchdown of the preseason and Frank Clark forces a fumble that Jordan Hill recovers for a touchdown. The roster was trimmed this past weekend down to 53 guys, the guys talk about surprise cuts, trades that happened and some of the new additions to the team. Fred Jackson is reunited with Marshawn Lynch after sharing a backfield early in their NFL careers in Buffalo. Week 1 of the season has arrived and the guys take a look at the matchup against the Rams. Considering St. Louis will continue to have a dominant defensive line, it could be a rough start for Drew Nowak and Justin Britt on the interior line going up against Aaron Donald. Adam and Brandan talk about how the Rams situation on the offensive line might be worse than Seattle and how that could combine with a depleted backfield. After the break, the guys respond to calls and emails before highlighting some crazy behavior by a pair of high school football players in Do Better. Brandan takes note of things Kam Chancellor would be better off spending his game checks if he were to decide to hold out into the regular season. Better at life nods go to special teams captain Jon Ryan and Brandan details why it could be Marshawn's final year as Seahawks running back. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] fill out our short audience surveyDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 8585: Chargers recap, surprise cuts to 75-man roster, Raiders preview

The Seahawks get their first win of the preseason on the road against the San Diego Chargers thanks to a 60-yard field goal from Steven Hauschka. In the 16-15 victory, Seattle gets all of their points from special teams including another touchdown return by rookie wide receiver Tyler Lockett. Of course, this leaves us with questions about the Seahawks offense and many fans concerned about what to expect when the regular season starts in less than two weeks. Brandan and Adam feel that it's important to remember the way we've seen this Seahawks team win in the past as well as a reminder that two of the team's best players (one on offense and one on defense) haven't been playing in the preseason. The Seahawks have cut a number of players to get down to the 75-man roster by Tuesday and it appears Drew Nowak has won the starting center job based on one of the most notable names cut. The Hawks get a draft pick from Carolina for a wide receiver drafted in 2014, and the guys' favorite Seahawks emcee is let go following a solid effort in San Diego. After the break, the guys talk about the pick 'em league starting back up for all to join (see the link below). Listen in to find out why Phil Simms and Seahawks beat writer Bob Condotta need to do better and why firefighters and the rain are better at life than Skip Bayless. Ep 8484: Chiefs recap, Seahawks aren't trading Kam Chancellor, Chargers preview

The Seahawks drop their second straight game of the preseason, 14-13, to the Kansas City Chiefs, but the important thing to remember is that they were up 10-7 when the starters went out of the game. Adam and Brandan recap the noticeable improvement with the changes in the offensive line. While Adam shares his excitement about Bobby Wagner's pick six, he also feels that the offense should score more points in the game than the defense. Brandan talks about how fans were able to see a hint of the type of impact Jimmy Graham could have on offense. Gary Gilliam is a player we may not know much about, so Brandan offers some background on the guy who played tackle and tight end in college, came to the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent and then caught a touchdown pass from Jon Ryan in the NFC Championship Game against the Packers. Finally, before the break, Adam and Brandan offer their thoughts on what to look for going into this weekend's game against the Chargers. Closing out the show, Adam gets an earful from listeners regarding his comments on the New Zealand basketball team that he said should "do better." The guys take a couple emails and finish the show with the weekly Do Better and Better at Life segments. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: [email protected] our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 8383: Broncos recap, Seahawks o-line issues, Chiefs preview

The Seahawks fall to the Broncos, 22-20, in the week 1 preseason matchup. Adam and Brandan talk about the highlights, the lowlights, and some general observations. The Seahawks appear to have hit on their first two draft picks. Tyler Lockett appears to be exactly what the Seahawks need to help boost special teams. Frank Clark appeared to be as dominant as the team hoped he would be. As good as Clark and other players on the defensive line looked, the offensive line was seemingly the opposite and has Adam already worried about the upcoming season. Can some changes improve the overall play in the matchup with the Chiefs on Friday? We read reviews and emails before getting into Do Better. One is directed toward an overseas basketball team and the other is a member of the Seahawks offensive line. Ep 8282: Denver Broncos preview, 2nd year players to watch, former player gives up a big team secret

It's game week! With mere hours left until kickoff of the Seahawks preseason game against the Denver Broncos, Adam and Brandan talk about some of the things to watch for during Friday's game. Want to know what the Legion of Boom would look like without Earl Thomas in Kam Chancellor? No? It doesn't matter. That's something you'll get to watch anyway when the first string defense is on the field. Because playing time for starters will be limited, it gives everyone a good chance to try and watch the game a little bit differently. The guys talk about the different aspects of the game they try and watch and new perspectives you might consider. There's a number of second year players on the field to watch to see how they improve. With one year of experience, several of them have talked about how they've had a chance to focus on improving their game in much more focused ways. How will guys like Justin Britt, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Brock Coyle and others look with that in mind. We also take a look at the continued downward spiral of the Seahawks' chief rival over the past years. One listener wonders if it's time to move on to a new team to routinely cheer against. Former Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson is giving away team secrets needs to do better as well as ESPN reporters who feel religious choices are headline worthy. Ep 8181: Training camp news, top Seahawks players, offense expectations

Into the third year of the podcast, and the first week of training camp is nearly complete as Adam and Brandan talk about the top stories coming out of camp so far. Bobby Wagner is under contract for four more years, Kam Chancellor is still sitting out and the team just traded for a Detroit Lions cornerback. The guys talk about the notion of the team having "too many" good players, and take a look at the top players who made the NFL's Top 100 list in the offseason. These are players every Seahawks fans should know, and the guys offer a bit of detail that you may not know about these players. What should fans expect to see from this Seahawks offense? What are some of the areas where they can improve? Which players could be poised to break out? The guys take on some of these questions. Do better nods go to Anthony McCoy for being "injured by the sun" and former wide receiver Percy Harvin who felt he was never welcomed by the other Seahawks receivers. Ep 8080: Russell Wilson signs contract, training camp underway, Know Your Rival: Arizona Cardinals

Twenty years after Steve Largent goes into the Hall of Fame, we record our 80th show. However, the biggest news of the week is Russell Wilson has signed a four-year extension with the Seahawks and we talk about what that means for the salary cap and the team's ability to sign other players. Bobby Wagner signed not long after we recorded the show on Saturday and now we wait to see what might happen with Kam Chancellor holding out. Adam talks about why Kam holding out feels a bit different than Michael Bennet wanting more money. Jess Root, senior/managing editor of Revenge of the Birds, joins us to talk about the Arizona Cardinals offseason. Apart from the season following their 2009 Super Bowl, he says he can't remember a season he's been more excited about as a Cards fan. After the break, we get into some emails, Adam goes off on his internet service provider, while Brandan struggles with understanding why a local radio host, just one week ago, would suggest Russell Wilson would be on his way out of Seattle. Better at life honors go out to Jets fans for their trolling of the Patriots and Jermaine Kearse for his work with his new foundation that helps kids of military families. Ep 7979: Wilson's contract deadline, TD sparks idea that Russell needs Hitch, mailbag

The Russell Wilson contract talks now have a deadline and it's set for the start of training camp. Will this entire offseason saga finally come to a conclusion, or will it continue to linger? Only time will tell. Adam turns the discussion toward asking the question about why money is the end goal. Can a player put a price tag on avoiding the media drama? Perhaps Russell Okung has it figured out as he says he's going to represent himself in upcoming negotiations. We also reset the interview from last week with Seahawks long snapper Nate Boyer and talk about some of the things that came up in his interview. TD, producer of the Around the NFL, Dave Dameshek Football Program and Move the Sticks podcasts, joins the show as the official/unofficial Russell Wilson and Ciara relationship correspondent. Should we be worried about the seemingly disparate nature of Wilson's relationship with Ciara? Adam suggests Russell might need someone like Hitch in his corner to help him work through these early stages of the relationship. Last week the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders played for our fandom, so we get into a bit of CFL. Afterwards, the guys move on to a few emails and Al from Australia talks about just how different Seattle and Santa Clara are for watching a football game after having attended in back-to-back weeks last season. The show begins with Adam joining NFL Network analyst and former running back Maurice Jones Drew in a silent protest of where Marshawn Lynch ended up on the NFL Top 100 list. His silence ends, a rant ensues and then we go back and cover Lynch's appearance on Conan's talk show last week. We get into your email, touch on why Russell Wilson wants you to pray for him (not contract related), and get into more email including a top 10/12 list of pre-Russell Wilson Seahawks games. A call from DCH sparks the "Nincompoop Challenge" that goes out to other podcasters who listen to our show. Ep 7777: Know Your Rival: San Francisco 49ers, is Russell Wilson asking for too much?, Pete Prisco still can't do better

We kick off this week with a bit of the latest Seahawks news. Is Russell Wilson greedy for reportedly turning down a deal that would pay him similar to Cam Newton. Is $25 million too much to pay for a franchise quarterback? Think back to the Seahawks quarterback trio of 1992 in Gelbaugh, Stouffer and McGwire before you're quick to answer. Michael Bennett says staying in Hawaii would be a better option than going back to work on time. He sounds like just about every person I've ever talked to Sunday night. Prediction: he'll show up for training camp the same way we all manage to get to work on Monday. We continue our Know Your Rival series this week by talking 49ers with Oscar of the Better Rivals Podcast. While many seem to be writing off San Francisco considering all of the change this offseason, Oscar finds reason to be optimistic his team could finish with double digit wins. Even with the retirement of Willis and Boreland, he says the linebacking corps continues to be the strength of the defense. While on offense, the 49ers are looking to improve after creating a more complementary receiving corps and speeding up their play calls. Follow Oscar on Twitter @BetterRivals. After the break, we talk about Nate Boyer's MMQB article and the viral video that inspired his topic. We also got a ton of email that we'll look forward to getting to next week. We continue the focus on Russell Wilson as Pete Prisco and Mike Florio need to do better. Prisco is treading ever so closely into Skip Bayless territory. Ep 7676: Seahawks Minicamp, Mailbag, 12th Man Champions

Back from a week off there isn't much Seahawks news to talk about apart from the one day of on-field practice at minicamp. With a few weeks before training camp starts up, we're warning you that the next few weeks could be a bit short of Seahawks news. With that in mind, the guys take a look at the emails that have come in over the past week and they're chock full of suggestions for things we could talk about besides Seahawks football. A call comes in from DCH as we talk about the new stickers he designed. Have us send you one (or more) by giving us your address via our Google form. No interview this week, but we're looking for feedback on how the interviews appear in the podcast feed. We offer them separately in our feed as a courtesy to our guests, but would it remove a minor annoyance to do so without having them listed in the podcast feed? Feel free to let us know. A listener (Anthony) suggests we start following the Canadian Football League action and why we as Seahawks fans should all cheer for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, while Pat in Edmonton makes a spectacular effort to take Adam to task for his stance on animals as athletes. Finally, if you hang with the show long enough this week, the guys drop a "do better" on the St. Louis Cardinals for their actions (or rather inaction) in the hacking scandal and to Partick Thistle F.C. (which Adam incorrectly calls "Patrick Thistle") for their interesting new mascot. Better at life honors go out to a couple champions who shouted out to the 12th Man in their own ways, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and U.S. Open Champion Jordan Spieth. Ep 7575: Know Your Rival: St. Louis Rams, Seahawks news, new LOB member slams former team

This week's show kicks off with a bit of offseason news. Russell Wilson's agent forwarded a 16-page position paper to the Seahawks front office, Tarvaris Jackson re-signs with the Seahawks, contract talks with Bobby Wagner start and Cary Williams has some interesting things to say about his former team. The bulk of this show is dedicated to talking about the NFC West rival St. Louis Rams as we get you caught up to date with news from their offseason with Rams Addiction podcast co-host Michael Handshear. We ask about ways the team has improved, where do they need to continue to develop and if they're going to continue to be in St. Louis beyond the upcoming season. Do better nominees this week include scientists in the field of robotics and a Detroit fan that sought out an autograph on a strange item from a Hall of Fame running back. Ep 7474: Seahawks Town Hall, impact of Cam Newton's contract, Spike O'Neill interview

Cam Newton is the latest $100 million quarterback and Adam says that's a club Russell Wilson is willing to wait to join. Michael Bennett wants to be in that same club of guys getting new deals, though he's only one year into his contract, Brandan offers additional background on the issue. The Seahawks Town Hall meeting was Wednesday and the guys take a look at some of the highlights from that event. From Twisted Radio on KISW in the late 80s through the 90s and on to The Bob Rivers Show on KZOK and KJR, Spike O'Neill spent many years on Seattle's radio dial. He joins us this week to talk Seahawks as well as some of his favorite moments from his time in radio. Known for his "Twisted Tunes" throughout the years, Spike continues to specialize in parody work with his latest hit called Tom's Big Balls (to the tune of AC/DC's Big Balls). There were a few emails to catch up on before getting into Do Better. Organizers of the national spelling bee and "window seat wasters" are taken to task. Brandan has an idea on how to avoid spelling bee ties. Better at life honors go to a pair of St. Louis Rams for their efforts to bring awareness to homelessness and Russell Wilson is hailed for his leadership efforts. Ep 7373: More rule changes coming, Pats accept Deflategate penalty, Terry Poole interview

The offseason continues with another rules change, this time to the PAT. The guys talk about how much, if any, it has the potential to affect the league and the Seahawks. Adam and Brandan discuss an article that adds to the hype surrounding rookie receiver Tyler Lockett and discuss any impact the Dolphins deal with Ryan Tannehill could impact the Seahawks negotiations. From an email, the guys address why Tom Cable may not be happy with a majority of offensive lineman in college football. David from Virginia joins the show after his clairvoyant prediction of the penalty the Patriots would have to face (and they've since accepted) and he takes Adam to task explaining why four games is the right punishment for Tom Brady. Seahawks rookie offensive lineman Terry Poole joins us for an interview this week. The fourth round pick tells us whether or not he thinks his prediction for the NBA Finals can hold up, ask whether or not he already has a healthy dislike for the 49ers and Broncos engrained in him from his NFL fandom growing up and his approach to life after making some "knucklehead" mistakes in high school. We take your emails on Cary Wiliams, why the show may have lost a listener because of Adam's ignorance on the Wells report, and discuss the anti-Darrell Bevell website online. Do better awardees go to Paul Lukas of ESPN for his list of top NFL uniforms while Adam focuses on a NBA post-game incident. Better at life honors go out to Russell Wilson and his approval rating and David Letterman for his legendary stretch of late night television as he goes off into retirement. Ep 7272: Wilson's contract, Kiper gives up grading Seahawks drafts, Geoff Baker of Seattle Times on Frank Clark

Before gettings started, the guys announce the release of the iOS app which Adam looks forward to giving a 1-star review simply to damage Brandan's ego. The reports are in and Wilson and the Seahawks are reportedly 10s of millions apart, which make Adam and Brandan believe negotiations are only beginning. While we haven't been fans of draft grades, there were three key grades we want you to know about, including one from Mel Kiper Jr. that suggest he's given up on grading the Hawks. Geoff Baker, an investigative sports reporter and sports business columnist for the Seattle Times, has been digging into the circumstances surrounding Frank Clark's arrest. He offers his insight on the incident itself and what happened afterward with witnesses, the police investigation and the prosecutor involved in the case. The guys get into your emails and iTunes reviews before handing out a "Do Better" to Patriots fans who are helping to raise a million dollars for the Deflategate fine and Seahawks fans who are petitioning the NFL to rip the Lombardi Trophy away from New England. Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and former Ravens safety Ed Reed are "Better at Life." Ep 7171: Seahawks draft recap and former Green Beret Nate Boyer signs with Seattle

After weeks of talk about all of the potential players the Seattle Seahawks could draft, we now know the newest members of the team. Adam and Brandan take some time to lay out their thoughts on Seattle's second-round pick Frank Clark and why they feel the draft got off to a disappointing start. From third-round pick Tyler Lockett to the final pick of the seventh round, Ryan Murphy, the guys talk about reasons to cheer for and get excited about each one of them. The clear winner of the post-draft interviews with Seahawks reporter Tony Ventrella was offensive lineman Terry Poole of San Diego State. Nate Boyer, "Better at Life" honoree from episode 69, was one of the undrafted free agents signed by Seattle and Brandan talks about how the story of this long snapper is better than the iconic sports movie Rudy. The show wraps up with the guys talking about their weekend trip to Seattle, reading some reviews and emails before getting into Do Better nominees Pete Prisco and Roger Goodell. Lastly, Adam's Better at Life honors go out to 49ers GM Trent Baalke, while Brandan focuses on all of the displays of military appreciation by the Seahawks this weekend. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041 Email: [email protected] Please fill out our short audience survey Download our free Amazon app or Android app in the Google Play store Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.org Music from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 7070: Stunning draft stats, Seahawks should pick up Irvin's option, Seattle's approach to undrafted players

We have a new intro! A big thanks to Leah (or FM DJ Chick if you see her rocking her #12 jersey) for offering her voice talent. It's a great way to kick of this week's show before Brandan breaks the news to Adam that he wants to be in an open podcasting relationship. The guys move on to Russell Wilson's budding relationship which has Adam fired up about how some people in the media are treating the situation. The guys get into real football talk and get into some Seahawks Draft Appreciation 101 with a breakdown of how many players are still in the NFL from five years of drafting under John Schneider and Pete Carroll. Of 48 players drafted only four have completely departed from professional football. Picking up Bruce Irvin's option before the May 3rd deadline turns into a big topic as well. Adam shares the team's approach to undrafted free agents and how they may be a step ahead of the league in how they court guys who don't get selected this year. And lastly before the break they look at Big Red Bryant and if there is any potential he could rejoin the team. We respond to a call from DCH, some great emails, and get into our Do Better picks for the week. 4/29/15 - Rob Staton, Seahawks Draft Blog

Rob Staton of seahawksdraftblog.com joins us for a third time leading up to the Seahawks draft. Seattle is set to make their first pick during the second round on Friday and Rob, Adam and Brandan talk about who Seattle could reach for if they decide to move up from their 63rd pick. Rob offers his thoughts on some of the players who have made official visits to Seattle and names one wide receiver who he thinks should already be penciled in as a pick for the Seahawks. He lays out why we could expect to see Seattle lean toward picks on offense earlier in the draft before filling in any gaps in the defense in later rounds. Check out Rob's posts at seahawksdraftblog.com and follow him on Twitter @robstaton.

Ep 6969: 2015 Seahawks schedule, latest news

The 2015 schedule is out for the Seahawks. A club record of five prime time games is the highlight of the schedule, but Seattle starts out the season on the road and two historically tough venues to play. Half of the Seahawks home games come against teams who are coming off their bye. Is that an advantage for the visiting team or advantage Seahawks? We take a look. Adam and Brandan talk about some of the latest news from the past week and some "news" from John Schneider the week before the draft. After the break, the guys respond to your emails and play a call that came in this week. Do better nods go to Twitter trolls giving their opinion of Russell Wilson's price tag and a Bleacher Report article that wanted to strike up the debate of who the Seahawks should draft early. Better at life honors go out to Chip Kelly and a 34-year-old Nate Boyer hoping to make it into the league as a long snapper.

Ep 6868: Russell Wilson's two-sport dreams, Michael Bennett refutes trade request, a look back at the 2012 Draft

Back after our first week off in eight months, we're talking Russell Wilson and any potential or desire he may have to be a two-sport athlete. Michael Bennett comes out and officially denies he requested a trade to the Falcons and stands behind past comments about Jimmy Graham. The guys take a look back to 2012 in what remains a remarkable draft in terms of the talent that is on the team or at least still in the league. The Seahawks have a decision to make in the next couple weeks on whether or not to pick up the 5th year option on Bruce Irvin, their first pick in the draft that season. Adam takes a look at a couple receivers who were "touchdown makers" in the college ranks and what makes them interesting picks for the Seahawks in the mid-rounds. After the break we read emails and talk about zone defense. Adam takes on a strange legal requirement in Arizona in his "do better" while Brandan takes on the fast food industry for a particular kids toy. Better at life honors go to Ludacris and Marshawn Lynch for a recent music video and to the work of the Electronic Frontier Foundation for their work in achieving a victory for podcasting. 4/15/15 - Zach Whitman, Three Sigma Athlete blog

This week's featured guest is Zach Whitman. He's the owner of 3sigmaathlete.com and is regularly featured on FieldGulls.com. After talking a bit about SPARQ scores in the past, we bring him on to give us the direct background into where these scores come from and what they mean for teams like the Seahawks. Zach talks about players who rate highly on the scale as well as one who ranks notoriously low and he offers reasons why that particular player is more athletic than some numbers may have shown him to be initially. We talk about wide receiver, offensive line and defensive back prospects the Seahawks could be looking at early in the draft and get into whether or not the Seahawks could look at drafting a quarterback. Zach explains why it makes sense to look at certain types of positions early in the draft while other positions can wait until later rounds. Follow Zach on Twitter: @zjwhitman

Ep 6767: Latest news, Sherman as best corner confirmed, Seahawks 7-round mock draft

Recorded on April Fools's Day, these two fools manage to fill up an entire show with seemingly very little in the way of Seahawks news. Will Tukuafu, or Mr. T as Adam likes to call him, is re-signed. The re-signing of Jesse Williams came in shortly after we wrapped up the show. We also talk about the latest center to visit Seattle to potentially shore up the offensive line. Football Outsiders this week broke down every play by Richard Sherman throughout the season to statistically prove he is the best corner in the game. Also released was Matt Miller's seven-round mock draft which was full of potential targets for Seattle. The guys talk about how well the writer for Bleacher Report did with finding guys who seem like a fit with the team and also look at other potential wide receivers and strong safeties. The second half of the show features reviews, emails, and a tangent discussion on Brian Bosworth. Do Better nominees this week are Around the NFL writer Connor Orr for a pretty weak effort of trying to determine who the best GM is and Mike Florio for taking Bruce Irvin's April Fool's gag too seriously. Better at Life honors go out to the Cincinnati Bengals for trolling the Browns logo change with one of their own and Adam gives kudos to California Gov. Jerry Brown for water conservation efforts that fall in line with his own views toward lawn care. Ep 6666: Head-scratching rumors, NFC West opponents in free agency, rules proposals and changes

With March Madness in full swing, Adam and Brandan kick off this week's show talking about some of the rumors that have been swirling around Russell Wilson's contract and around the potential that Michael Bennett could be seeking a trade. On Monday, the NFL announced compensatory picks and the Seahawks now have 11. If you missed Monday's interview with Rob Staton of Seahawks Draft Blog, tune in for a larger discussion on the impact of the Jimmy Graham trade on the upcoming draft. The guys take a look at how other teams in the NFC West have approached free agency and talk about which of the teams between the Rams and Cardinals might provide the biggest challenge for Seattle. We take a look at other emails that came in over the past week before getting into our "Do Better" nominees centered around new rules proposals either being accepted or likely to be shot down. Better at Life honors go to Ravens offensive lineman John Urschel who demonstrates that there can be many well-reasoned arguments around Chris Boreland's decision to retire from the NFL, and Clare Farnsworth is moving on after covering 700 Seahawks games in his long career.
