3/23/15 - Rob Staton, Seahawks Draft Blog

Since last time Rob was on the show, the impact of the Seahawks trade for Jimmy Graham shifts the desire of adding a wide receiver in the early rounds to looking for offensive lineman to fill behind center Max Unger and left guard James Carpenter. Seattle will also have to wait until the second round before making their first selection. Rob talks about how Ty SamBrailo of Colorado State could fill the void at guard if he's still on the board. The Seahawks recently brought in Stefen Wisniewski as a potential replacement for Max Unger, but news has been quiet on the former Oakland center and Rob explains what could possibly be going on behind the scenes. If Wisniewski goes elsewhere, Rob talks about a few other options available in the draft. Are the Seahawks done at receiver? Rob talks about his desire to see the team look toward the draft for a guy the team can develop and be available down the road with a priority toward a player who can contribute in the return game. Kansas State's Tyler Lockett is a player who is expected to be around in the second round. Finally a look at what the signing of former Browns defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin means moving forward. Ep 6565: Jimmy Graham trade is finalized, 40th Anniversary Team, TD declares Seahawks fandom

It's official and final. Max Unger and a first-round pick are sent to New Orleans for Jimmy Graham and a fourth-round pick. Adam and Brandan take a look at some of the answers from Pete Carroll and John Schneider to questions brought up among fans after the trade went down last week. We talk some of the latest free agency news and get into who might earn a spot on the Seahawks 40th anniversary team five years after the 35th anniversary team was announces. Brandan reminds everyone that the potential is out there for a 45th anniversary team and how we want to avoid naming the next John Carlson to the team. The last time TD was on the podcast, right after the Seahawks NFC Championship victory, he was adamant he was not a Seahawks fan. Then last week on the Dave Dameshek Football Program, Around the NFL and Move the Sticks podcasts we hear that he's officially declared his Seattle fandom. We ask him what changed over the last few weeks and what role (if any) this podcast played in his decision. We take a call and read emails before getting into Adam's do better directed at most of the NFL for not giving Tim Tebow a chance and Brandan blasts reports that Tebow was denied an invite to the veteran combine. Better at life nods go to retired 49ers linebacker Chris Boreland and Brandan gives the honor to Jimmy Graham and the Whodat Princess. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041 Email: [email protected] Please fill out our short audience survey Download our free Amazon app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.org Music from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 6464: Jimmy Graham trade, Marshawn Lynch signs extension, Geoff Baker interview

The news about the Jimmy Graham trade to the Seahawks breaks as we sit down to record the show. Fortunately, technical difficulties (technically the show we recorded Monday just wasn't very good) allowed us to talk about some Seahawks news that just couldn't have waited another week. Brandan helps break down what the Seahawks may have been thinking in going after Jimmy Graham and what he means to this team inside the Red Zone. News of Marshawn Lynch extending his contract for two additional years was a highlight this past week. With a three-year deal now on the books, it looks likely that he'll remain with the Seahawks for the rest of his career and eventually earn him a spot on the team's Ring of Honor. The guys talk about other free agent news, including a look at our division rivals as every team except the Niners seems to be improving in some way. Geoff Baker, investigative reporter for the Seattle Times, visits the show to talk about two stories since the Super Bowl about fans who either went through well known ticket sites or purchased "options" to buy tickets at face value. He talks about why prices rose to an artificially high rate and why some fans might have been willing to pay extraordinary prices to salvage the weekend. The guys shout out to some fellow podcasters in the final segment, announce the new Sea Hawkers Podcast app in the Amazon app store, and offer their "Do Better" nods. Richard Sherman and Russell Wilson are Brandan's "Better at Life" picks, while John Schneider gets Adam's vote for pulling off a trade nobody saw coming. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041 Email: [email protected] Please fill out our short audience survey Download our free Amazon app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.org Music from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation

Ep 6363: Free agent news, why trading up for a WR makes sense, Keith Myers interview

This week's show kicks off with talk of Marshawn Lynch's visit to Turkey. Also, how he might be the best of the actors in a bio-pic that may not be released. The guys get into some free agent talk as players released this past week could have an impact with the Seahawks and Adam brings up a tight end who may be flying under the radar and would be a great fit in Seattle. Would trading up into the top 10 or top 20 make sense for a team like Seattle looking to find an impact receiver? In recent history, the answer seems to be yes. The final issue before the break comes from Wisconsin where a listener asks if athletes are held to an unfair standard. Keith Myers, the managing editor for 12thmanrising.com, joins us to discuss what the Seahawks salary cap looks like heading into free agency, some names the team may want to target, and how the team's greatest need may not be the positions most fans are talking about. Do better nods go out to current Eagles coach Chip Kelly and the agent of soon-to-be-former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. Better at life honors are earned by Leonard Nimoy for his efforts as the greatest villain in Transformers history and Sidney Rice for his announcement toward seeking advancement of concussion research. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041, Email: [email protected]

Ep 6262: Russell Wilson contract rumors, Baldwin vs. Revis, Darin Pike interview

Rumors about a contract extension for Russell Wilson have been swirling around over the past week. Adam and Brandan talk about whether Wilson could see a fully guaranteed contract or whether or not he would hold off until the end of next season to negotiate. Another contract being talked about is Marshawn Lynch's deal. It's not a done deal yet, but the rumblings sound as though something is close. Would the extra money to Marshawn be good for the team and it's ability to bring in more talent? The guys also take a look at a recent article on Hawkblogger showing how Doug Baldwin was able to get open more often against Darrelle Revis than we may have thought by looking at the box score. Darin Pike, the first blogger to be a guest on this podcast, comes back on the show to hit on a ton of topics from an article he out this week on free agency, the draft, and other offseason projections. You can find Darin's work at 12th Man Musings on FanJabs.com. Brandan's "do better" is directed toward Seahawks players who thought there may have been specific intent that went into the final Super Bowl play call, while Adam takes a run at Adrian Peterson;s agent and a member of the Vikings front office. Better at life honors go out to J.K. Simmons and his Oscar acceptance speech as well as a group of astronomers who discovered a black hole 12 billion times the size of the Sun. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041, Email: [email protected]

Ep 6161: Lynch considering retirement, Seahawks pursuit of a top receiver, Rob Staton interview

With Marshawn Lynch reportedly considering retirement, Adam and Brandan talk about what Beast Mode means to the Seahawks offense and how life without him would be different. Though we will likely see him back in Seattle, it sounds like there are some serious health concerns Lynch has been working through. The guys discuss whether finding a true number one receiver is necessary or even possible to incorporate into an offense that intends to stay true to a run-first mentality. Finally they discuss recent coaching changes and discuss franchise tags, the transition tag, and exclusive rights free agents. Rob Staton of seahawksdraftblog.com comes on the show to talk about the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine this weekend and some players Seahawks fans might want to have on their radar. Rob also talks about two intriguing prospects at running back if the Seahawks aren't sold on Christine Michael and want a future replacement for Lynch. We respond to a few of your emails from the past week and share our appreciation for the iTunes reviews that came in. Do Better candidates this week are Jameis Winston and Rex Ryan, while Better at Life honorees include an inspirational marathon runner and Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee. Ep 6060: Seahawks free agents, could Suh or Fitzgerald land in Seattle?, NFL arrest season begins

It's the first show of the offseason as the guys talk about Pete Carroll making the rounds and talking about what he is calling "the worst result of a call ever." Adam and Brandan discuss injuries on both sides of the ball and how it could impact free agency. The guys run down the list of Seahawks free agents and talk about two big names being floated around as potential Seahawks: Ndamukong Suh and Larry Fitzgerald. Coaching changes are underway as Ken Norton Jr. leaves for Oakland and Kris Richard is expected to be announced as the new defensive coordinator (note: the show was recorded before the official announcement was made on Monday). Brandan revisits the discussion about quarterback records in the first three seasons when the defense allows more than 24 points and issues a correction. An abundance of emails, reviews and Facebook posts came in over the last week and we try and get to all of them. Good news is that the show can now receive reviews left on iTunes in other countries. With the NFL arrest season just starting, it makes for easy nominees for "Do Better." Better at Life honors go to the Green Bay Packers and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. Ep 5959: Super Bowl XLIX recap, a disappointing end to a great season

The Seahawks suffer a heartbreaking loss in the final seconds of Super Bowl XLIX. Adam efficiently narrows the stages of grief down to two. Brandan offers a short line for all Seattle fans to memorize to try and help get through the loss. Around the 18-minute mark of the show, Adam hits the peak of his tirade about the Seahawks decision to pass on their final offensive play of the game before the guys move on to praise Chris Matthews, who came out of nowhere to have an outstanding game, and talk about a tremendous Jermaine Kearse catch that was already being heralded as the dagger in the heart of the Patriots before the interception. We take your calls, emails and tweets (two calls came in after recording the show and we wanted to include them in the portion of the show usually reserved for interviews). Thanks for all of the input and support! Moving on to "Do Better," Brandan calls out a couple Seahawks players for moments they’re likely regretting following the game, and the guys speculate on what Johnny Manziel might be in treatment for. "Better at Life honors" go out to Richard Sherman for playing hurt and Marshawn Lynch for his entertainment leading up to the game and restraint afterward. Ep 5858: Super Bowl XLIX preview - Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots

Days away from watching the Seahawks appear in their third Super Bowl in team history, Adam and Brandan are joined by Gerrad this week to break down the matchup with the New England Patriots. The guys start by listening in on 90 hilarious seconds of Bill Belichick's press conference where it talks about the deflated balls . . . footballs, before moving on to some real analysis. From how the two teams matchup broadly on each side of the ball to individual matchups with the Rob Gronkowski, Marshawn Lynch, and who might be spying on Russell Wilson, the guys cover as much ground as possible in looking at the different aspects of this game. BostonHawk, Dave Bloomquist, joins the show from deep in Patriots territory to talk about how the Seahawks are perceived by opposing fans in the area. He also talks about his ingenious ploy to get Patriots fans to help him showcase the 12 flag at a variety of Boston landmarks. After offering predictions on the game, Gerrad heads out while Adam and Brandan get into your emails. Adam offers a sincere apology while putting himself in the "Do Better" slot and Brandan goes after Rich Eisen. The guys wrap up the show with Better at Life nominees Brandon Browner and a highlight of an amazing sendoff by fans when the Seahawks departed for Glendale.

Ep 5757: NFC Championship recap joined by TD, producer of DDFP and the Around the NFL podcasts

After witnessing the greatest comeback in the history of NFL championship games, Adam and Brandan take a look at the top plays that won the game for Seattle as well as those plays that contributed to the Packers downfall. The Seahawks fell behind early and allowed 16 unanswered points by halftime. Seattle was within 12 points with less than four minutes remaining before rallying for the win. This week's guest is the producer of several podcasts including the Dave Dameshek Football Program, Around the NFL, Move the Sticks and the Coaches Show. TD joins us to talk Seahawks, the origin of the "sexy deep ball" thrown by Russell Wilson and a look ahead to the matchup with the Patriots. The guys read your emails, take calls and respond to some Faceboook comments. Golden Tate and New York Times columnist Richard Sandomir are called out in the "Do Better" portion of the show. "Better at Life" honors go to Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork and Brandan selects both Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas for their toughness during Sunday's game. Ep 5656: Panthers recap, Packers preview, interview with Todd Mossburg, producer for NFL AM

For the third consecutive year, the Seahawks have at least one playoff win. With a second-straight NFC Championship game at home, Seattle is in a great position to make the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons following a 31-17 win over the Carolina Panthers. Warning to listeners this week: the show goes a little bit off track toward the start with more focus on the Dez Bryant catch, and we do our best to tie it in with the Earl Thomas near-interception. Both were called a catch on the field only to have the play overturned when it went to the replay booth. Is there a way to change the rules so each play could be considered a catch? Would a new rule differentiate between the two? Is one play more deserving of being ruled a catch over the other? The guys break down the matchup with the Packers and where some critical matchups tend to favor the Seahawks. Adam and Brandan talk about the mobility of Aaron Rodgers being a huge concern in this game and how Mr. Miyagi traveling with the team could be a concern. Todd Mossburg, a 20-year veteran producer, and current producer of NFL AM on NFL Network joins the show this week. Todd drops some amazing knowledge at the end of his interview that you won’t want to miss. Of course we’re all curious to know if the Fail Mary play will get played on an endless loop in previewing this next matchup, but Todd says the network will go in a different direction on NFL AM. The UK Sea Hawkers check in via email as well as an email that reminds us that a Seahawks punter holds the record for the worst punts in NFL history. Do Better honors go out to an L.A. columnist who wrote a regrettable story about Pete Carroll five years ago as well as the marketing around the Packers game against the Cowboys. “Better at Life” honors go out to the 12s support of Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks community outreach team.

Ep 5555: Panthers preview, top plays from the regular season, emails and more

This week's show previews the NFC Divisional Playoff matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers. Adam and Brandan offer their takeaways from the game between the Panthers and Cardinals and talk about how this Seahawks team matches up with Carolina at CenturyLink Field. Considering how close the games have been in the past, some were a bit surprised to see how many points the Seahawks are favored by. The guys offer an explanation, talk about some of the Panthers most recent opponents and also talk about the Seahawks players selected for the All-Pro Team. There's no interview this week. Instead, Adam and Brandan run down some of the top plays from the season and talk about some of their favorite moments from the regular season. The guys read your emails, take your calls and read a review before getting in to "Do Better." The referees in the Detroit game in Dallas and some Internet outrage directed toward a fellow 12 are the topics of conversation. "Better at Life" honors go to Scott McCloughan, who travels to the nation's capital to be the new general manager, and the legendary Stuart Scott. Ep 5454: Rams recap, Seahawks historic defense and guest Danny Kelly of FieldGulls.com

Your Seattle Seahawks are NFC West Champions for the second straight season following a 20-6 victory over the St. Louis Rams. The guys talk about some of the concerns about the team going into halftime and how the Seahawks rebounded to earn home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Seahawks defense has been incredibly impressive over the final six weeks of the season, with opponents averaging fewer than seven points. Over the past three years, Seattle's defense has been the top defense in terms of points allowed. That hasn't been done since the 1969-71 Vikings. The guys talk about the historic achievement. Danny Kelly, editor-in-chief and lead writer at FieldGulls.com, comes on the show to about how this year's team might be better than the one that one the Super Bowl last year. They talk about the team in the playoffs that poses the biggest problem for the Seahawks and chat about Seattle's rookie receivers Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood. Lastly, Brandan offers a tongue-in-cheek "Do Better" for the New Orleans Saints and Adam is in disbelief over the reversal of the Suh suspension. Adam's "Better at Life" nod goes out to former Bills quarterback Kyle Orton and Brandan gives praise to wool socks before sending Jim Harbaugh out to the college ranks with the better than Bayless "honor." Ep 5353: Cardinals recap, Rams preview, William Cornell interview

The Seahawks score 21 points in the fourth quarter on their way to a 35-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Adam and Brandan are reasonably sure they could feel Seattle fans jumping up and down two states away in Missoula, MT, during the 79-yard run by Marshawn Lynch. The guys talk about the win and what it means for the playoffs looking ahead. There's one final regular season matchup at home before Seattle heads to the playoffs and it's a matchup against the St. Louis Rams who are always a physical team when playing Seattle. The guys talk about how Shaun Hill gives the team a different look this time around. In this show's interview, the guys welcome William Cornell, creator of the Rain City Redemption series to the show, to talk about the latest edition. William talks about what it takes to put together an epic series and his reasons behind the effort. More reviews come in this week and that leads into a "do better" for the Jets organization and Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola. Better at Life nominees this week are Seahawks General Manager John Schneider and the social media teams for the Mariners and Seahawks. If you enjoy the show, please subscribe via iTunes, Stitcher, TuneIn or your favorite podcasting app.

Ep 5252: 49ers recap and Cardinals preview with guests Ramona Peel and Mark Tye Turner

The Seahawks get a 17-7 win over the 49ers to hand them their first 3-game losing streak of the Harbaugh era and officially eliminate San Francisco from playoff contention. The guys talk about some of the unusual things that happened during the game that Seahawks fans aren't used to seeing with this team. Seattle's defense continues to be a topic of discussion as Jordan Hill has been a pleasant surprise and Bobby Wagner just seems to get better every week. The Seahawks go on the road to face another great defense, but can the Cardinals find a way to win with a quarterback who has one career win and no career touchdowns? This week the Sea Hawkers Podcast brings on a pair of our favorite Seahawks historians in Ramona Peel and Mark Tye Turner. Ramona, blogger on Dave Krieg's Strike Beard, compares the 49ers downfall to the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War while Mark talks about how this Seattle defense is the best since the 80s era defense coach by Chuck Knox. Both talk about their reactions to the win over the 49ers and Ramona talks about how it just wouldn't be the same without Jim Harbaugh on the sideline and mentions the fluid nature of Seahawks rivals since joining the NFC West, while it wasn't always the case in the AFC. The Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals are two teams on target for "Do Better" this week and Adam calls out a listener and the Buffalo Bills for "Better at Life" while Brandan shares his appreciation for a Seahawks offensive tandem.

Dec 17, 20142h 1m

Ep 5151: Eagles recap, 49ers preview, Sean Widmer interview

Another dominant defensive performance has the Seahawks trending toward a playoff berth with the division rival 49ers next on the schedule. Adam and Brandan recap the performance against the Eagles where Seattle held the Chip Kelly offense to a mere 139 yards on the day. The guys talk about the listener's consensus player of the game on defense, Byron Maxwell, and how the opponent's yardage has continued to trend downward. It leaves the guys wondering just how low the total could go against San Francisco. Sean Widmer, co-host of the Dickau and Slim show on 700 ESPN Spokane, comes on the show this week to talk Seahawks. He joins the guys in breaking down the win over the Eagles and what to expect in the rematch against the 49ers team that has lost two weeks in a row. Emails, calls and reviews lead into a Philadelphia-centric "Do Better" segment where Eagles fans are reprimanded for booing an injured player as well as kicking a service member out of the stadium for cheering on his Seahawks. Finally, "Better at Life" honors go to the FBS for finally having some kind of a playoff and to the Seahawks and 12s coming together for the #12s4Good campaign.

Ep 5050: 49ers recap and Eagles preview with guests Cedric, Jenny and Norb

Not only are we celebrating a win over our NFC West rivals on Thanksgiving, we are also celebrating our 50th show. To commemorate the occasion, we form our own legion of Seahawks fans and start with a guy who is in fact a member of Mama Sherman's Legion of Super Fans. Cedric James Morris joins the show to talk about how he got the effort started to get Richard and Beverly Sherman highlighted as the new face of Campbell's Chunky Soup. Right after we launched last week's show, Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin performed an epic skit/press conference and we talk about a recent article about Marshawn Lynch considering retirement. Next on our guest list and considering Jenny Goos has been our most frequent guest over the past 50 shows, she was a clear choice to bring on the show especially with her recent selection as STAR 101.5's 12th Woman of the week. We move on to preview the matchup with the Eagles and then chop it up with our final guest of the day, Norb Caoili who has been entertaining us this year with his recent Rivals video series. Norb also talks about his Norb-Cam videos and the reason for the shift from YouTube to Vimeo for catching his game reactions and recaps. Before we get into the second half of the show, we squeeze in a call that came in right after we finished recording for this week. It was just too good to leave out and it involves an offer to buy beers for Adam and Brandan when the Seahawks make the playoffs. (It had to be officially documented.) Then we get to your latest reviews, offer our nominees for "Do Better!" and announce our picks for who is better at life than Skip Bayless this week.

Dec 2, 20142h 8m

Ep 4949: Cardinals recap, 49ers preview, Marshawn Lynch commentary and mock interview

Happy Thanksgiving week 12s! With the Seahawks on a shortened schedule, so are we. Adam and Brandan talk about all the big plays from the 19-3 win. Seattle shows a dominant defensive effort in holding the Cardinals to their fewest amount of yards and points all season. The Seahawks face the 49ers on Thanksgiving Day and while San Francisco hasn't been winning pretty, they've been doing what is necessary to win. The defense has been making sure this team stays in the game. Following the Marshawn Lynch that has all the media outlets talking, Brandan and Adam have a little fun with the audio to ask a few questions of their own. We take reaction from podcast listeners input via the Facebook page on whether or not his interview deserves to fall into the "do better" or "better at life" category. The Bills organization and Lions center earn a "do better" nod while Odell Beckham Jr. and Justin Tuck are "better at life."

Nov 25, 20141h 28m

Ep 4848: Chiefs recap, Cardinals preview, media re-reporting same Lynch story

In a 24-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Adam and Brandan agree the loss hasn't doomed Seattle from returning to post-season play. They only have to look back to the 2012 season to demonstrate how things can change for a team late in the season. Recapping the Chiefs game, one thing they disagree on is the role officiating played on two key calls in the game. Brandan points out a big difference in how the Seahawks defense is playing in comparison to last season. Previewing the Cardinals matchup, both agree that this could be a favorable matchup for the Seattle defense considering how Drew Stanton plays the game. How the Seattle offensive line holds up against the Cardinals defense will be important to watch. Rob from the Arizona Birdgang podcast checks in with the show this week to talk about the Cardinals 9-1 season and this week's matchup with the Seahawks. Are the Cardinals already a lock for the NFC West title, Rob thinks so where his fellow co-hosts are a bit hesitant. The guys are floored by the listeners' response to the challenge to surpass the Cardinals podcast and read through several reviews and award show stickers to some of their favorites. Brandan has an extended do better for those in the media who continue to re-report about Marshawn Lynch when all they do is bring up prior stories to support an viewpoint that doesn't seem to be backed up with any hard facts. Adam goes after a 70-year-old Saints fan. Better at life honors go to a current Buffalo Bills kicker and good Samaritan as well as former Redskins running back Brian Mitchell for coming strong in his criticism of his former team.

Nov 20, 20142h 4m

Ep 4747: Giants recap, Chiefs preview, Warren Moon interview

The Seahawks show a dominant performance on the ground as Marshawn Lynch led the team to 350 yards on the ground to set a new team record. Russell Wilson also had more than 100 yards, but has not been the same in the last five games as he was in his first four games to start the season. Adam talks about where he may be struggling. Brandon Mebane is out for the season. As of the recording he hadn’t yet been placed on injured reserve. Because he’s in the negotiation phase of the steps of grief, Adam talks about how he would trade the win against the Giants just to have Mebane back for the season. Next up, the Seahawks head to Arrowhead to take on the Chiefs. The guys talk about the tough test Kansas City will bring. Brandan talks about one statistic about the Chiefs defense that may be misleading and offer the Seahawks offense a vulnerability to attack. Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, a 17-year NFL veteran and Seahawks broadcaster, joins the show this week to say thanks to service members past and present and talks about Russell Wilson, Brandon Mebane and cookies. To close the show, “Do Better” nominees include the New Orleans Saints (by request of a listener) and some Bears fans who have gone way over the line. It’s an all-Seahawks “Better at Life” segment with Dan Quinn and Marshawn Lynch taking this week’s honors.

Nov 12, 20141h 17m

Ep 4646: Raiders recap, Giants preview, Johnnie Ramona Peel interview

Another week and another victory that is a bit too close for comfort. Adam and Brandan take a look at some of the best and worst performances of the week among Seahawks players. After getting out to a first-half lead of 24-3, they talk about some of the events that led to the Raiders getting back in the game. With the Giants next up on the schedule, there’s a lot of reasons to be optimistic with several players set to return. Brandan talks about Eli Manning and the matchup issues he and the New York offensive line present to the Seahawks defense. Johnnie Ramona Peel, Dave Kreig’s Strike Beard blogger, returns to the show for the first time since October 2013. Johnnie compares the win over the Raiders to a meal at Taco Bell and the start of the season to the 2004 Seahawks team. She also revisits the story of how her blog came to be named after a majestic beard of the 80s-era Seahawks quarterback. The guys read some of the latest emails to the show and “Do Better” nominees include Dan Snyder and Bill Simmons. A World Series pitcher with a historic performance and Tom Brady share “Better at Life” honors for the week.

Ep 4545: Panthers recap, Raiders preview and interview, Seahawks locker room reports

Russell Wilson engineers a game-winning drive against the Panthers to complete a rather ugly 13-9 win. Seahawks fans can rejoice because it ends a two-game losing streak. This week Brandan checks in from Bay Area with Adam manning the fort back in Missoula to talk about optimism for the season moving forward. Though Brandan admits that some of the "battered fan syndrome" experienced in years past is starting to creep back in. They talk about how an improved pass rush impacted the game and Bruce Irvin was able to show up when it mattered post. Special teams is also a focus as Paul Richardson shows his speed on kick returns and Richard Sherman fills in as punt returner. Which one could take the job away from Bryan Walters? The guys preview the matchup against the Raiders. Brandan speaks with Raider Ron, who will be attending his 239th straight Raiders game (including home and away games). It's clear that Ron isn't expecting much for this year's team, but hopes are high for the future with budding stars on both sides of the ball. We read some of our latest reviews of the show and an email from a listener who says he's going to stop listening because of the bad juju it has brought upon the team. Adam says Cam Newton needs "do better" especially when it comes to signaling first downs even when he comes up short. Brandan directs his "do better" to Mike Freeman for unnecessarily introducing race in the story about Russell Wilson and other members of the Seahawks locker room. Better at life honors go to a dailyleak.org article and Seahawks owner Paul Allen for his contributions to fight ebola.

Oct 29, 20141h 27m

Ep 4444: Rams Recap, Panthers Preview, Norm Johnson Interview

Russell Wilson has a record-setting performance this week in a 28-26 loss to a division rival. Adam and Brandan talk about some of the special teams plays that sunk the Seahawks this week, problems with the Seahawks pass rush and the sudden departure of Percy Harvin. The Carolina Panthers are next up on the schedule and might be just the right team for Seattle to play to get back into the win column. A Panthers defense that was the strength of the team last season is now struggling and they have injuries among other problems on the offensive line. Sound familiar. A bit, but things seem to be much worse in Carolina. The guys interview former Seahawks kicker Norm Johnson and talk about everything from his recent work in creating a craft beer for Seahawks fans -- The 12 Man Pale Ale -- to one of his best memories in helping the Seahawks reach the playoffs for the first time back in 1983. With the recent Percy Harvin trade, Norm talks about the difference certain guys can make in the locker room as Brian Bosworth was one of his least favorite guys to play with in Seattle. He discusses how he had the exact opposite experience with Deion Sanders during his time with the Falcons. The guys give this week's picks and talk about plans to add a second show to the week by breaking out the pick'em segment into a show scheduled for release on Thursdays tentatively titled "SHP: NFL Full 32." Earl Thomas and Peyton Manning get "do better" nods this week and DeMarco Murray and Russell Wilson are "better at life" for each accomplishing something no player has ever done in the NFL.

43: Cowboys Recap, Rams Preview, Dayna O'Gorman Interview

With the first Seahawks home loss of the season, Adam and Brandan take a look at the positives. The Seattle loss proved Skip Bayless to be incorrect on his prediction and no longer eligible to be better at life than himself. The guys break down the game, what went wrong and some of the overreactions from Seahawks fans. Long-time listener Dave Bloomquist comes on the show to give his reaction to the Cowboys game and give his thoughts on the game against the Rams. Adam and Brandan disagree on the two most dangerous weapons St. Louis has on offense and talk about a defense that has only produced one quarterback sack. Dayna O'Gorman, Seahawks fan reporter for nflfemale.com and co-host of Wednesday night with nflfemale, is welcomed back onto the show to talk about what she saw in the Seahawks games and expectations against the Rams. In the second half of the show, Adam gives his thoughts on a tasty Montana brew, we read through our emails, tweets and texts and give our picks for this week's NFL games. A player from the Cowboys and the Bengals get a "do better" nod, while "better at life honors" go to a Rugby League star and Seahawks owner and EMP museum co-founder Paul Allen.

Ep 4242: 'Skins Recap, Cowboys Preview, New Facebook Troll and Calls

Russell Wilson took over the game Monday night and led the Seahawks to a 27-17 win against Washington. Adam and Brandan wonder how anyone can watch that game and not see Wilson as an elite quarterback. With a lot of questions on penalties, the guys attempt to explain what the refs may have seen and how an incredible game by Percy Harvin was wiped away. As the matchup against Dallas is on the horizon, find out why the entire game hinges on the appearance of Rolando McLain. And just as Demarco Murray has emerged as a weapon for the Cowboys they announce their intent to limit his carries. Listeners rallied around the idea of surpassing the Steelers podcast in reviews and we are now closing in on them. The guys read reviews and find out how John's trip to the game went before getting into the pick'em segment. ESPN's coverage of the Jaguars podcast and a fellow podcaster is called out in the "Do Better" segment. The Lions and Hoyer the Destroyer are "Better at Life."

Ep 4141: 'Skins preview, Chiefs fans break noise record, emails and calls

The Seahawks are coming off their bye week and will travel across the country for Monday Night Football versus Washington. Seattle has the best winning percentage in the NFL on Monday and is going up against a team that picked up their one win against a winless Jacksonville Jaguars team. Before getting into the game, Adam and Brandan congratulate the Kansas City Chiefs on breaking the record for loudest crowd roar and talk about the different approaches the two teams take to the record. With only a game preview and no game recap, the guys spend time on listener emails that came in during the bye week. Among the questions is whether or not a team should be in London, whether 12s would be okay with having one of Seattle's games played there, and if fans of U.S. teams would give up their current fandom to support a local team. After the break, the guys talk about which Seahawks player in their prime they would bring back to the future to play on the current team, offer their picks for this week's pick'em challenge, and finish off the show in the usual fashion with "Do Better" and "Better at Life."

Ep 4040: Broncos Recap, Manning's Blown Coin Toss, and the mask that likely inspired the original Seahawks logo

The dramatic 26-20 overtime win brings Broncos fan Gerrad Timm back to the show to talk about the Seahawks effort against the Broncos. Before getting into the game, the guys talk about the trip to Seattle and the how Seahawks fans handle the fans of visiting teams appropriately, at least in the experience with Gerrad and Phil. With a bye week on the horizon, the guys take an extended look at the game and weaving in some of the top plays into the show. The Seahawks defense plays nearly flawlessly for 59 minutes, only allowing scores when the Broncos had a short field. Yet, in the end, Manning finds a way to drive the length of the field to send the game into overtime. Fortunately, Manning never has the opportunity to touch the ball as Marshawn Lynch punches it in after Russell Wilson leads the team down the field. Peyton doesn't get the ball, which leads Brandan to congratulate Tarvaris Jackson for the role he played at the overtime coin toss. The Sea Hawkers Podcast welcomes Kathryn Bunn-Marcuse, curator of the Here and Now exhibit at the Burke Museum to talk about the mask that likely inspired the Seahawks logo. Kathryn talks about how the Seahawks logo was most likely created, the history of the mask and its similarity to the original logo, and the current effort to get this piece of history shipped across the country for Seattle fans to view the mask in person. Lastly, the guys talk about the five-way tie in this week's pick'em challenge. In the "Do Better" segment, the guys talk about the league's troubles overshadowing the good things that are happening and a Denver columnist cries about wanting the overtime rules changed. The Cardinals special teams and a guy who bets his way to a huge payday are honored as "Better at Life."

Ep 3939: Chargers Recap, Denver Preview with Broncos fan Gerrad Timm

The Chargers come out against the Seahawks and play a nearly flawless game in a 30-21 win in San Diego. Was it the heat, the Chargers execution on offense or something else? Find out why Sampson, a giant German shepherd, played a key role in the Seahawks loss. Gerrad Timm, Denver Broncos fan and friend of the show, comes on the show to preview the "Super Bowl rematch." Before they get into the Broncos preview, Gerrad welcomes the 12s in joining other fan bases around the league who are widely disliked by other team's fans. He says the Broncos made a lot of changes in the offseason specifically for the reason to compete with the Seahawks. In the second half of the show, the guys congratulate another weekly winner of the pick'em league and give their picks for the upcoming week. It's not too late to join. Sign up at http://j.mp/pickshp. Brandan calls out Richard Sherman in the "Do Better" segment for avoiding the media and making that a big part of the story following the loss. Adam generalizes a local youth sports issue to call out anyone who coaches kids to be extremely careful of the messages and lessons they are teaching. To close the show, the Vikings organization in the "Better at Life" segment sparks a discussion on Adrian Peterson and Adam recognizes a baseball player with the Orioles who went above and beyond the duty of a Good Samaritan.

Ep 3838: Packers Recap, Chargers Preview, Tansey Allen Interview

The Seahawks continue their primetime dominance at home and defeat the Green Bay Packers 36-16. As great as the 20-point victory is, Brandan says the defensive performance is what impressed him the most. Brandan opens the show by talking about the scene around Seattle and the unveiling of the banner for the World Champion Seahawks. The guys break down some of the biggest plays in the game, talk about how Aaron Rodgers completely avoided throwing at Richard Sherman, and discuss why Earl Thomas may want to learn how to call a fair catch. The Seahawks go on the road this weekend to take on the San Diego Chargers who suffered an 18-17 defeat against the NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals. Looking at the matchup, and their performance against the Cards, the Seahawks match up very favorably. The only thing San Diego has going for it is the excitement around their home opener. Tansey Allen, co-founder of the Seahawks Road Crew, talks about how Seattle fans are rallying to show up to the San Diego game to help give a boost to Seahawks players. If you're a fan who's going to be in southern California, you're going to want to tune in to find out about all of the events happening this weekend. In the final segment of the show, Adam and Brandan read some recent reviews and announce this week's winner of the pick'em challenge. They go over their picks for the upcoming weekend, go after two prominent members in the Cowboys organization in Do Better, and a pair of Bay-area reporters and potential new owner of the Buffalo Bills are "better at life."

Ep 3737: Raiders Recap, 53-man Roster, Packers Preview

The Seahawks open up their final preseason game with a four-play, 80-yard touchdown drive and then proceed to close the season with a loss to the Raiders. Adam and Brandan talk about the ugly first and second quarter against Oakland's new starting quarterback Derek Carr. As expected, there were many more recognizable names among those cut from the 75 down to the 53-man roster. The guys break down some of the potential reasoning behind those decisions. The preseason matchup with the Packers is only days away! Adam starts the preview by feeling a bit nervous of the matchup, but as the two talk through it he feels much better about the potential for a win this week. Both agree the Packers will likely be the second-best team in the NFC. John Hagengruber, life-long Green Bay Packers fan joins the show to help preview this year's squad. John talks about the added dimension Eddie Lacy brings to the team, something the Packers didn't have the last time these two teams faced, and some of the players to watch for on both sides of the ball. In the last part of the show, we play a couple listener voicemails and thank those who have left reviews on iTunes and Stitcher. Brandan calls out an NFL writer for producing a meaningless list when there are plenty of other topics to write about now that the season is starting, and days after the league revises its policy on domestic abuse a 49ers player will be the first to be punished under that policy. Adam gives commissioner Roger Goodell a "better at life" nod for acknowledging his mistake in the decision to suspend Ray Rice for only two games. Brandan's pick is a Spokane high school student in the Make-a-Wish program fighting cystic fibrosis and was recently honored by the Seahawks.

Ep 3636: Bears Recap, Seahawks cut to 75, Raiders "Preview"

It's a Russell Wilson love-fest to kick off the first portion of the show as Adam and Brandan are impressed with the command and comfort #3 has shown against the Chargers and Bears. The guys call out some other impressive performances from the game and how one podcast listener was rewarded based on the performance of Marshawn Lynch. The Seahawks cut the roster down this week from 90 to 75 players. No surprising names made the list, and the guys talk about the approach the team is taking with roster cuts. With the 53-man roster only days away there are sure to be some recognizable names when the time comes for the next cuts. John Davison, Sea Hawkers Podcast listener from the U.K., joins the show. We roll out the tea and crumpets while waffling on "American Football." After the interview, Brandan breaks down his fantasy draft from the previous night with some of the listeners and why he stockpiled 49ers players. Forbes' list of top NFL fans makes this week's "Do Better" segment along with former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms. Finally, Seahawks Kevin Pierre-Louis and Vietnam veteran Bill VandenBush (and his wife) are all "Better at life than Skip Bayless." Ep 3535: Chargers Recap, NFL's Illegal Contact-fest, Bears preview, Jenny Goos Interview

The Seahawks rebound from their first preseason loss to annihilate the Chargers 41-14. The interception and touchdown by Tharold Simon is one example of how games how now turned into an illegal contact-fest and has officials seeing things that just aren't there. Seeing Earl Thomas continuing to field punts continues the discussion on whether or not the risk is worth the potential reward, Adam and Brandan talk about impressive performances in preseason game two, and discuss if Terrell Pryor is poised to unseat Tarvaris Jackson as the backup. Jenny Goos, writer and vlogger for OnHerGame.com joins the podcast for her third appearance on the show. With two weeks of preseason down, Jenny talks about how she's tired of watching "practice" and ready to get to the regular season. Do better candidate Johnny Manziel is called out for his poor execution of a gesture we've seen from Marshawn Lynch, Michael Vick and late Titans owner Bud Adams. Adam takes one more run at the flurry of illegal contact penalties being called. Finally, tune in to the show and find out why free agent NHL left winger Paul Bissonnette and Russell Wilson are both better at life than Skp Bayless.

Aug 21, 20141h 34m

Ep 3434: Broncos Recap, Chargers Preview, Mark Tye Turner Interview

The Seahawks lose their first preseason game and fail to get to double digits for consecutive preseason wins. Clearly the Denver Broncos have a decision to make as to which of their players deserve to be honored with a commemorative statue to mark this monumental occasion. Adam and Brandan talk about some of the worst quotes and takes to come out of the loss, including one from our pal Skip Bayless. With the Chargers game next on the schedule, the guys offer their thoughts on what they plan to keep an eye on from the offensive line to the linebacking corps and if, even in the preseason, teams will continue to stay away from Richard Sherman's side of the field. Emmy-award winning writer and producer Mark Tye Turner is welcomed back to the program from his home in Richard Sherman Oaks, California. He now has a new book: Seattle Seahawks Super Season: Notes from a 12 on the best season in Seahawks history. We talk last season, expectations for this year, and a Seahawks touchdown dance that is unlike no other. In the show's last segment Adam proposes a weekly pick 'em contest to see which listeners are best at picking games on a week-to-week basis. Adam's wants Broncos announcers to "do better," Brandan thinks it would be more fun for the NFL injury announcements to be more like the PGA. In Better at Life, Adam honors the passing of Robin Williams by playing a favorite clip he shares with Brandan and Coach Carroll. With the induction of Walter Jones into the Hall of Fame, he also deserves enshrinement as a member of the Better at Life community.

Ep 3333: Training Camp Underway, Marshawn Lynch Ends Holdout, Paul Beyer Interview

Season two of the Sea Hawkers Podcast starts with training camp and what better news to start off the latest season than to welcome Marshawn Lynch back to the team after his holdout. Adam and Brandan talk about what Lynch means to this team, how he's not a replaceable piece of the offense like a certain ESPN reporter may think, and why it was important for the team to hold the line with his contract in the way they did. Michael Robinson talked about his concerns the team may not have the veteran leadership in place to handle some of the big money deals that have transpired over the offseason. The guys provide their reactions and talk about if Robinson's presence could have prevented Lynch's holdout situation. One guy who stands out to Adam so far in training camp is Phil Bates. We discuss the wide receiver group as a whole and how they're going to be "just fine" without Golden Tate and Sidney Rice. Of concern so far in training camp is losing Anthony McCoy and Jesse Williams so soon. Are we going to have to deal with another Kellen Davis situation at tight end this year? After visiting a few weeks back on 12 for 12s Radio, Adam and Brandan welcome Paul Beyer to the Sea Hawkers Podcast to discuss Marshawn Lynch, training camp, and a recent interview on Paul's show with the guys who want to "Build the Tip." The NFL commissioner and NBA player Kevin Love are called to carpet and dressed down in the "Do Better" segment. Texans running back Arian Foster and Seahawks GM John Schneider are celebrated in the "Better at Life" segment to close the show.

Ep 3232: Sherman Softball, Sea Hawkers Podcast Background

Before the new season kicks off, we take the Sea Hawkers Podcast on the road (please excuse the road noise). On the way back from the Richard Sherman Softball Game Adam and Brandan talk about the game, their experience the night before the game from the top of the Columbia Tower and offer background about how they each became Seahawks fans. The guys get into a little bit of news with some comments by Andre Reed about Richard Sherman and comments coming from Golden Tate as he compares his new team to the Seahawks and what he expects to be different for him. Coming up on the anniversary of the podcast, Adam and Brandan discuss the origins of the "Do Better" and "Better at life than Skip Bayless" segments. They also welcome suggestions for improvements for the upcoming year.

Ep 3131: Offseason Concludes, Marshawn Lynch Contract, Richard Sherman on Madden 15

It feels like a new season is starting now that OTAs and minicamp are over, and the Seahawks have now received their Super Bowl rings. Time now to get started on the 2014 season. In this show, Adam and Brandan talk about being one Viking closer to getting Adrian Peterson, offer our thoughts on Earl Thomas taking over as Seattle's punt returner, and our thoughts on Marshawn Lynch and rumors that he is unhappy with his contract. Richard Sherman was recently voted to be face of Madden 2015. He wants the rest of the Legion of Boom to join him. Midwest Sea Hawker Jason Coiner comes on the show to discuss his petition to attempt to persuade EA to grant Sherman's request. Lastly, we have one of our listeners from "across the pond" give us a call, FIFA and Charlie Whitehurst are called out in the "Do Better" segment, and Brady Quinn and Richard Sherman are our distinguished Better at Life representatives.

Ep 3030: Seahawks at the White House, 2014 Draft Results, LOB

The Seahawks are fresh off a trip to the White House where they were showered by praise by the President. President Obama was disappointed he couldn't get tips on dealing with the media from Marshawn who, according to his mom, just didn't want to go. Adam and Brandan break down how well BO did in the presence of the LOB. With rookie mini camp having wrapped up this week, the guys talk about the 2014 draft and some of the players who stood out. Kevin, a listener from "enemy territory" in Denver calls in. Since he pointed out on Facebook that he "dropped a bigger bomb than Denver's D" we figured we'd definitely have to play his call and give him a really hard time for a really minor slip up. Lastly, the guys talk about the Legion of Boom now being signed through the next few seasons, before having Sgt. Jeff Baker, Army Ranger and Purple Heart Recipient, come on the show to talk about his experience announcing the Seahawks fourth round draft picks. Cover32.com and the owner of the Cleveland Browns are reprimanded in the "Do Better" segment. The guys wrap the show up with nominations for "Better at Life" directed toward a decision by the NFL owners to hold off on playoff expansion and an effort by Adam Corolla for taking on the podcast patent trolls.

Ep 2929: 2014 Seahawks Schedule Announced, NFL Draft, Free Agency News

The release of the 2014 Seahawks Schedule motivates Brandan and Adam to get together after a month hiatus to talk Hawks. The guys give their initial reactions to the schedule and look ahead to some of the biggest matchups. It's not long before the guys the bored with schedule talk and begin to discuss the trade for Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor and the re-signing of Sidney Rice. An email prompts a discussion on Marcus Trufant's retirement announcement and the reports that Richard Sherman could be looking at a long-term contract soon. With the NFL Draft coming up, Adam wants to get his opinion on the record that Johnny Manziel will be a bust of Ryan Leaf proportions. Brandan offers up ways to enjoy the NFL Draft between the Seahawks selections by listening carefully to how analysts talk about the next flock of stars the draft will appear to be littered with. Gene Hushak, Sea Hawkers Central Council President drops in for his first appearance on the show to talk about upcoming Sea Hawkers events. The do better segment features a man trying to sue the Seahawks for $50 million for being excluded from the NFC Championship ticket sales and his attempt to visit "Quest Stadium." Adam takes a shot at TMZ for their coverage of the "suspicious incident" Colin Kaepernick and Ricardo Lockette were involved in. Finally, Better at Life features Sidney Rice and the conditions surrounding his return to the team and an anonymous 12 who saved a life during a 12k run near the Seahawks practice facility.

Ep 2828: Jared Allen, Free Agency News, Ryan Asdourian Interview

Jared Allen sounds close to signing with the Seahawks, but says he needs the weekend to make a decision. Adam and Brandan talk about how signing Allen would dampen the pain of Golden Tate leaving the team. The guys talk about why Tate ultimately left Seattle and how it's not hard to blame him for doing so, although it sounds like Golden has been taking quite a bit of heat for it via Twitter. Cracking on him out the door isn't going to brink him back and takes away from how hard he's worked in his time in Seattle. Is Tate's departure the biggest hit the team? Finishing off the hour, the guys look at other teams around the NFC West and how they stack up with their free agent moves so far. Ryan Asdourian, handler for the Seahawks mascot Blitz, comes on the show to talk about some of his greatest moments on the sidelines and off the field at charity events, his diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis and the Blitz Tackles MS events coming up in Seattle next month. In their "Do Better" segment, Brandan cracks on Steve Smith for his response to a online video that went viral and Adam takes on a former Seahawks receiver who thinks he would dominate Richard Sherman. Finally, find out why Zach Miller and Jared Allen are this week's "Better at Life" nominees.

Ep 2727: Latest Seahawks News, Free Agency, NFL Combine

With more than a month having passed since the Seattle Seahawks won their first Super Bowl in franchise history, there have been several items in the news worth discussing. Adam and Brandan start with the comment by Richard Sherman about the NFL's attempt to penalize players for using the "n-word" on the field. Brandan talks about his issues with seeing Russell Wilson in a Texas Rangers jersey, and the guys even talk about the latest goings on down in San Francisco with Jim Harbaugh. The rest of the show is dedicated primarily to talking about the free agents who are the most important to keep in Seattle and a couple players who have already been released. Eric Speece, a dedicated listener, comes on the show to share a story or two and even in the offseason the torch is carried forward for those who are "better at life."

Ep 2626: Our Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl Champions

Not only did your Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl, they did it by dominating the top offense in NFL history. The crushing Seattle defense held Peyton Manning and their record-breaking scoring offense to only one touchdown in a 43-8 win in Super Bowl XLVIII. You know the three phases of the game (offense, defense and special teams), but Adam tells Brandan about a fourth phase that the 12s have proven to have a direct impact on and are the inspiration for this phase of the game. Brandan talks about his experience in New York and New Jersey in both the "Do Better" and "Better at Life" segments. Listen in to find out who falls into each category. The guys wrap up the season by thanking those of you who have listened in on the show and lay out plans for how the offseason of the show might go. It's been an incredible first season of the show and an even more incredible season for the Seahawks. Let's do it again in 2014/2015! GO HAWKS!

Ep 2525: Super Bowl XLVIII Preview

We're just days away from watching the Seattle Seahawks take on the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48. Broncos fan, and friend of Adam and Brandan, Gerrad Timm makes his first appearance on the show to talk about the matchup between a historically great offense versus a historically great defense. With Media Day over and done with, the guys offer their thoughts on the event and some of the headlines created by Marshawn Lynch. The discussion is relatively friendly until Brandan fires the first shot by pointing out the success the Seahawks had through the season and asking Gerrad how comfortable he would be with Mark Sanchez behind center. You'll be treated to a trifecta of "Do Better" and "Better at Life" as Gerrad sticks around to share his selections in the second half of the show.

Ep 2424: NFC Championship Recap, Seahawks vs. Broncos Super Bowl XLVIII

The Seahawks defeat their NFC West rival to win the NFC Championship 23-17 and move on to Super Bowl XLVIII. Adam returns to civilization to record remotely after a week in the Oregon wilderness and he and Brandan share their different experiences watching the game. Coming out of his cave late this week, Adam realizes Richard Sherman was talked about in the news all week, not for his tipped pass, but for his post-game interview. The guys take a look at some of the biggest plays of the game, the players who made them happen and the moments they helped to create. Fourth down was big for both teams, but there wasn't a bigger play than Russell Wilsons throw on fourth down to Jermaine Kearse. That touchdown electrified the crowd and fired up the defense in creating three 49ers turnovers late in the game. There will be more to come in the Seahawks Super Bowl preview against the Broncos. Gerrad's name has been dropped several times on the show and with Denver in the game next Sunday, next week is a perfect time to have him come on and let Seahawks fans know what we might expect and some of the names on the team you may not be familiar with. With a brief window of opportunity to record, Better at Life is awarded off air to the two Stanford players who rose to the occasion to defeat their former college coach: Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin. GO HAWKS!!

Ep 2323: Saints Recap, NFC Championship Preview, Mack Strong Interview

Another game against the Saints, another win and another earthquake. This game against the Saints was a lot closer than it needed to be, but the Seattle offense ran through Marshawn Lynch and the team came out with a 23-15 victory to move on to the NFC Championship. Adam and Brandan talk about why the game got so close toward the end of the game. It's okay to be a bit worried about this upcoming matchup with a good 49ers team. The offense may not be clicking as well as fans would hope, but considering what we're seeing from other teams right now this offense is good enough to win a Super Bowl. Brandan shares some recent statistics from previous 49ers games that might surprise you. Mack Strong, former Seahawks fullback for 15 seasons, comes on the show to talk about the attitude of the team right now and how they're approaching this game against San Francisco. Adam and Brandan let members of the Military Sea Hawkers know about an opportunity to score two tickets to the NFC Championship game, Brandan talks about a Fox Sports piece on the 12s you won't want to miss, and they share their latest selections for Better at Life.

NFC Championship Rivalry Edition with the Better Rivals Podcast

bonus

Two meetings in the regular season weren't enough! The two best teams in the NFC West have now proven to be the two best teams in the entire NFC. This heavyweight podcast bout is officially sanctioned and sponsored by Fans Against Violence. Adam and Brandan have previously given their highest endorsement toward the folks of Fans Against Violence (fansagainstviolence.org) as being "Better at Life than Skip Bayless" for the work they do to champion the message that sporting events are an act of fellowship and community between fans, and that each person who attends a professional sporting event should feel safe and be protected. This podcast won't stop Pete Carroll's furious gum chewing from raising the ire of 49ers fans or prevent Michael Crabtree from lobbying for a penalty flag if he doesn't make a catch, but we can enjoy a look at the upcoming matchup between the Seahawks and 49ers. Along with our recap of the Saints game, Seahawks fans looking for a preview of the game from the perspective of Seahawks fans can look forward to Episode 23 of the Sea Hawkers Podcast. In the meantime, Brandan of the Sea Hawkers Podcast and Oscar of the Better Rivals Podcast get together to offer a rivalry edition of the show to give Seahawks fans a look at some of the thoughts on the upcoming matchup directly from the other side. Ep 2222: Saints Preview, Seahawks Coaches in Demand, Craig Terrill Interview

The Seattle Seahawks face the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round of the playoffs on Saturday. Adam and Brandan take a look at the team that picked up their franchise's first road playoff win as they return to Seattle after a 34-7 loss in Week 13. Brandan offers a suggestion on one play the Seahawks absolutely have to run from the previous game and Adam talks about his mindset on going into the game with the lowest possible expectations to help set up any postgame reaction. The guys also discuss the interest in Seahawks coaches and how that may or may not be a distraction to the team in preparing for this week's game. Adam and Brandan disagree on which coach the team would miss most. With the Seahawks holding the #1 seed in 2005, former defensive tackle Craig Terrill comes on the show to talk to Adam and Brandan about what players are going through leading up to this week's game. He offers his thoughts on this team's defensive line, what it was like practicing against two great Seahawks offensive linemen and his perspective on different coaching styles having played for Coach Holmgren, Mora and Carroll. In the "do better" segment, Adam shares a story about a 49ers fan who is so passionate about her team that she was ready to fight him and Brandan targets the 49ers organization for bringing in a sub-par motivational speaker. Better at life this week focuses on the bay-area team in the AFC and Marshawn Lynch's handling of his fine for not speaking to reporters.

Ep 2121: Rams recap, Seahawks at home for the playoffs, Percy Harvin update

After taking a week off, Adam and Brandan are back to talk about the game that earned the Seahawks a #1 seed in the NFC. The road to the Super Bowl goes through Seattle! The Seahawks defense set the tone in the 27-9 win over St. Louis with an interception return by Malcolm Smith. From there, the Seahawks offense was able to add 20 with the help of one of the biggest meltdowns we've ever seen on the field by a player. Coach Carroll surprised many of us today with an announcement that Percy Harvin is going to practice this week with a plan to play in the playoff game on Saturday, January 11. This comes after days of speculation that Harvin would be placed on injured reserve for the playoffs. The guys play a couple of calls into the show and talk about why fans should get used to the idea of bandwagon fans. The officials have taken away the Seahawks' opportunity for a revenge game and a Seahawks-centric "Better at Life."

Ep 2020: Giants Recap, Cardinals Preview, Jenny Goos Interview

Despite John Lynch conceding points to the New York Giants in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks come away with a 23-0 shutout this week. Adam and Brandan talk about some of the dominant performances by players on defense and special teams. Is it coincidence that Episode 20 focuses on some amazing plays by cornerback Jeremy Lane? The guys also talk about which former USC quarterback the Seahawks are making their opposition look like. The Arizona Cardinals may be 6-1 over their last seven games since facing the Seahawks, but when Adam runs down the list of their opponents over that stretch it's easy to see why they've been so dominant. Jenny Goos, of OnHerGame.com, is the first interviewee to make a return appearance to the show. She leaves no doubt as to the team she would want to see the Seahawks face in an NFC Championship game. A reporter who doesn't do his research on Seattle wide receivers is called out in the "do better" segment along with a pair of announcers Seahawks fans are likely familiar with. "Better at life" focuses on an effort by the 12s to raise money for the children's hospital in San Francisco as well as the newest addition to the Sea Hawkers family.

Ep 1919: 49ers Recap, Giants Preview, Dave Wyman Interview

The Seahawks may have lost to the 49ers this week, but with the Seahawks so far out in front in the NFC it's tough to take a two-point, 19-17 loss very hard. Adam and Brandan talk about the plays and penalties that had a big impact on this game. As difficult as it is to do, they even give credit (ugh) to the opposition. Looking past this game how is the playoff picture impacted and what do the Seahawks need to do from here on out to hold onto the top seed in the NFC. Dave Wyman, former Seattle Seahawks linebacker and co-host of the Wyman, Mike and Moore show on 710 ESPN Seattle, comes on the show to talk about if there is such a thing as a good loss and what to expect with the matchup with the Giants. It's a big week for emails and reviews on iTunes, so the guys read those and even offer solutions to some family issues overseas arising from Seahawks-related conflicts. Finally, Adam talks about why he'll never buy a certain brand of headphones, Brandan breaks down how to handle any 49ers fans you may happen to be friends with, and as always the show ends with picks of those who are Better at Life than Skip Bayless.

Ep 1818: Saints Recap, 49ers Preview, Brian Nemhauser Interview

The Seahawks dominated the consensus #2 team in the NFC at home in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football with outstanding play from Russell Wilson on offense and K.J. Wright on defense. Adam and Brandan take a look at many of the top plays that stood out in the 34-7 win. The guys preview the upcoming game against the 49ers as the Seahawks have the opportunity to clinch the NFC West and a first-round bye in the playoffs. How will this game be different compared to the 13-6 loss on the road in Week 7 last season? Brian Nemhauser of hawkblogger.com joins the program to talk about his analysis of the team after 12 games and their vast improvement from Week 8 to Week 12. He also offers his perspective from San Francisco about the recent release to 49ers ticket holders explaining to them the intricacies of being a fan: like the type of colors to wear on game day and when it's appropriate to make the most noise at the stadium. In the "Do Better" segment, the guys both take shots at different articles from Bleacher Report, they read Facebook comments on the "Faces of Harbaugh" photo of the week, and give some more Seahawks love to Russell Wilson and the 12th Man in the "Better at Life than Skip Bayless" segment.
