457 | Self-Mastery To Becoming Your Own Guru with Andrea Lowell

Today we are speaking with Self Mastery Coach, Andrea Lowell. Andrea is a Self Mastery coach for women, whose life is built upon a foundation of relentless self honesty and awareness, gratitude, and harmonizing Universal and Spiritual Law. Many people assume Andrea was "born like this" and has lived a "charmed life," since she was in the entertainment industry for decades, and was surrounded by wealth and celebrity. However, that was in fact the low point of her life. It was a truly empty and vapid career, which only created emotional and spiritual bankruptcy. She had to hit an emotional rock bottom, and know what hopelessness felt like, in order to finally get real with herself, do the inner work, and actually cultivate a life to be grateful for. Andrea has not only mastered the blueprint for women to find true bliss, fulfillment, and personal power, but has been successfully coaching women from all walks of life on this exact path for a decade. Through practicing the Self Mastery lifestyle of integration and self honesty, she and her clients now are able to manifest miracles, diminish anxiety, have blissful relationships, and become the women they were put on earth to be. It's not for everyone, but the path of Self Mastery is the journey that will take women all the way up to the top!In this episode we dive into: 1) The meaning of Self-Mastery and how to stop relying on the outside world instead of yourself when it comes to finding and creating solutions for change in our lives. This is how we learn to take back our own personal power. 2) Andrea's story and how for 16 years she wasn't tapped into her own personal power and how a specific day in front of a mirror changed everything and led her to the work she does today to support so many other women. 456 | Learning To Master Your Emotions

In this episode, I want to share how it is possible to master your emotions. Learning how to master your emotions is a powerful level of self-leadership and emotional intelligence that has made such an incredible difference in my life, business and energy. Learning these pieces of emotional intelligence has been a game changer in my life and business. This is not a journey about perfectionism, it is a journey of becoming a master pattern interrupter, a ninja! In this episode, we discuss: 1) Acknowledge, be aware and appreciate your emotions, no matter what they are. Your emotions are not bad, they are a compass showing what you actually want more or less than in your life. Get curious, ask the questions, and don't make them mean anything about you, because they don't. Treat your emotions with gratitude instead of resentment. 2) Brutal honesty about our self talk, recognizing if we would speak to anyone in that manner, or allow anyone to speak to us the way we speak to ourselves. Our response is a massive clue that we are not responding from our highest self, our best energy, etc. There is a high and a low frequency to everything and it is our self-leadership that guides us in either direction. 3) Ownership, skills (what skills do you need) and self-leadership are the compass, beginning point of the emotional intelligence required in learning how to master my emotions. 455 |Are You Really Self-Made?

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on the term self-made? I can fully recognize that I have had privileges that some people do not and have not had. Many of us have. We have also overcome stories that maybe we never thought possible. We can have grit, ambition and determination, but these traits are not solely the reasons for success. We can be humble, celebrate our success, cheer each other on, and realize we are not doing it alone. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Can we please honour the work of the people who went before us, who believed in us, who showed us what was possible? 2) Self-made also attributes that we are doing it alone, and I've done life and business both ways and I would rather not do it alone. 453 | Is Logic Killing Your Creativity?

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on logic and creativity and tie it back to our conscious and unconscious mind and some tips on how to shift this. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Our unconscious mind is responsible for 95-99 % of our thoughts, beliefs and this is ultimately connected to our actions. We will not take action on something we don't believe is possible. We also will always move towards what is familiar, even if that doesn't serve us or isn't part of our big vision moving forward. So is what we say we want and our actions on the same page? 2) Our conscious mind is all about creativity, imagination, and the vision of what we want to bring to life. So the idea, the download hits and then we get excited and then we fall into the how, the logic, and immediately our subconscious mind shows us the proof, what is familiar to us and before we know it we are back where we started. Logic is blocking us from creating change. 452 | What You Care About Is Hard To Hide

In this episode, this is a quick episode on how what we truly care about, what matters to us is evident. Is it time to do a quick inventory of what you say is important and if it is in alignment with your actions and choices? It isn't that you are not capable. Are your choices in full alignment with what you say you care about? I have to refer to a quote from the Harry Potter series, "It is our choices that show us what we truly are, far more than our abilities." In this episode, we discuss: 1) What if you take a quick inventory of what you say is important, what matters most to you and see if it is consistent in your life. Not from the results standpoint but from the actions standpoint. Attach no shame, judgment or criticism, just brutal honesty if you are in alignment or not. 2) The things that matter to you are the things that you are saying yes and no to every single day. It's impossible to hide. And even if you think you are hiding it from others, including yourself, you know deep down you aren't. Start with this piece of honest and instead of thinking of all the things you have to reinvent, do or change, what if you focus on one simple habit that you know isn't serving you? In this episode I am speaking with Lion Goodman is a transformational coach, author, healer and teacher. At the age of 26, Lion was shot in the head four times. This near-death experience kick-started his five decades of research into the nature of consciousness, developmental psychology, spirituality and healing. He created the Clear Beliefs Method of trauma-informed therapeutic coaching, which he has taught to more than 500 coaches, healers and therapists around the world. His training is accredited by both the International Coaching Federation and Association for Coaching. In a single session, Lion can eliminate a client's limiting or negative belief from their subconscious mind, heal a childhood wound, or resolve a trauma from the past. The Clear Beliefs Method is a multidimensional approach to rapid, deep healing. Lion has taught workshops and training around the world, and authored 5 books, including Creating On Purpose, Clear Your Clients' Limiting Beliefs, and Menlightenment. He is a co-author of a new book, "Transforming Trauma," with Joe Vitale, Marci Shimoff, John Demartini, and Christy Whitman. In this episode we discuss: 1) Lion's life work has been to study the realm of beliefs as they shape how we perceive reality. In order to be able to live our life to the fullest potential and overcome challenges, we need to discover our limiting beliefs, the beliefs that foster long term transformation reside in the subconscious mind. 2) Lion's personal story, what he experienced at only 26 years old, and how he has been on a lifelong mission and purpose to help people get to the root of their limiting beliefs, to clear their limiting beliefs so they are free to live the life they are meant to live. 450 | Is Guilt Blocking Your Ability to Receive?

In this episode, this is a continuation of the previous episode on receiving. Today we are going to chat about guilt and how it is blocking us from receiving. Giving and receiving are part of a karmic cycle, they go together, they are two halves of the same coin. I would argue that you can't do one without the other. If we are not feeling worthy to receive it will block you from receiving anything available. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Guilt is defined as "Shame is a focus on self; guilt is a focus on behavior." Shame is, "I am bad." Guilt is, "I did something bad." ~Brene Brown 2) Allowing ourselves to receive comes down to believing that we are worthy of receiving. Worthiness or lack of worth is something that will not allow us to receive without the heavy feelings of guilt. 3) Can you give with gratitude and no expectations? This may affect your ability to receive with gratitude and if you can sit in the energy of receiving with gratitude, then there's no room for guilt. 449 | Are You Flexing Your Receiving Muscle?

In this episode, this is a shout out episode to anyone who needs to create a shift on the common phrase that it is "better to give than receive." Yes, giving is an incredible feeling and we need more humans giving to each other without any expectation or attachments in return. However we are creating this energy of not allowing ourselves to receive and not fully understanding how it is holding us back in our relationships, life and yes in business. Giving and receiving are part of a karmic cycle, they go together, they are two halves of the same coin. I would argue that you can't do one without the other. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Let's start with you are enough and it is safe for you to receive. You are worthy of all the compliments, praise and financial abundance just because you are here. It is not weakness, it is not that you can't do it on your own, it is that we are not meant to do this life alone and believing that we are leaves us in a state of isolation, despair and frustration. Prioritizing giving over receiving may feel like it keeps you safe and others at a safe distance yet this can become very isolating. 2) Receiving is an exercise, an experience that might feel incredibly new and uncomfortable to you. It is actually a muscle that needs to be worked, to be flexed to become stronger. This can start as simple as buying yourself flowers, practicing gratitude for recognizing all that is available for you to receive and simply saying thank you without deflecting back on someone else. If you respond out of guilt you are negating that person's compliment. 3) If it is so important why don't we do it more? Childhood upbringing, being told that is selfish to receive or a sign of weakness to even ask for help. Receiving also creates connections that can leave us feeling open, vulnerable and exposed. That is scary! 447 | 5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Sharing Your Story

In this episode, I want to share some questions to ask yourself before you share your vulnerable story in a book, collab or solo or a podcast? In this episode, we discuss: 1) Get clear on why you want to share it? For what purpose, who would you love to help, inspire or provide support with sharing your story? 2) Ask yourself if you're still "in the story?", if you're still a victim or stuck in the story? Learning to support your healing will help you to own and share your part of the story. Sharing a story requires moving from victim to victor in your story. 3) Narrow down the lessons you have learned, what you are now the expert of and how you can support someone else who may be experiencing what you went through. These lessons can open up other doors, businesses and avenues that you might not even see yet and that's ok too. 4) Can you be vulnerable with your part of the story? Vulnerability takes courage and is the path to building connections and it is 100% about you, no one else. Can you share the story you want to share AND do it if the people involved in the story were in the same room? Can you share and leave everyone in integrity? If not, maybe that part is not meant to be shared? 5) What is the reader going to take away, learn and experience from reading or hearing your story? It's actually not about you. It's about what the reader can take away from your story AND how they can see themselves in your story. 446 | One Question That Changed Everything

In this episode, I want to share a question I started asking myself over 7 years ago and it changed everything. This was a simple shift that I still use to this day, and to clarify this is something that has worked for me. I encourage you to continue to work to find the thing that works for you especially if you want to change and move directions from where you currently are feeling stuck. In this episode we discuss:1) The Why questions? Why is a victim question that will never leave or give us an answer to justify the reasons why we might be feeling challenged. This space leaves us stuck IN our stories. No change happens from that space. Healing starts when we can be in a space of ownership and seeing how we can respond differently regardless of our circumstances. We are the common denominator to everything that is happening in our lives, regardless of what else is happening. 2) This is not an automatic switch. It requires grieving, guilt and surrender to what we can't control and owning the shit out of what we can control. With a lot of practice, conscious awareness, and repetition the whole story can change. 3) The WHY is only important when you are driving towards your goals, when you are working for a purpose. In this example the why can keep you grounded and focused. When we use the word why for judgement, justification or jealousy, it can be paralyzing. It can keep us stuck in our challenges, unhappy, spiraling out of control, full of resistance and resentment, and at the end it is all a waste of time and energy. 444 | 3 Things To Consider The Real ROI Cost

In this episode we discuss:1) Are you investing in things that are helping you grow in your business, you are your biggest asset and as you grow your income can grow. If it is an investment that is not leading to growth, and your debt is only increasing then ask yourself if it is an actual investment or just something you wanted to buy. 2) Look back at the investments you have made in your business, and be clear on the role that it played. There will be times that you look at why you bought what you bought and not love the purchase you made, does that make it a loss? All depends on how you look at it. When I invested in my NLP Certification and then my Masters NLP, I took a leap without a clear reason why, but I also had built up a checklist for making these decisions in my business. 3) Look back at your past, most impactful investments and shift your thinking on the ROI, and look at how long it has been paying out. 4) This is the power of subconscious reprogramming and if you are curious, I invite you to join the Coaching Certification Waitlist to be the first to hear, to save $1000 off the enrollment and unlock extended payment plans and bonuses. 443 |Celebrating the Podcasting Journey

In this episode, I want to share some celebrations, wins and surprises in the podcasting journey that started over 5 years ago. 1) I have met the most incredible people from all over the world, with stories that would blow you away. I have learned so many valuable lessons from them and I have so much gratitude for sharing their messages with you. This podcast journey has been the personal growth journey that hasn't slowed down or stopped. 2) It has been the growth journey my soul knew I needed before I knew it. We have pieces that have to come first in order to get to the next step. We don't get to skip steps. We aren't ready for them and not able to hold what we desire yet. Trust that every piece of the puzzle is important. 3) Ask the "what if questions" or "wouldn't it be cool if?" as these questions open up our subconscious mind to possibilities. 441 | Why We Quit Too Soon In Podcasting

In this episode, I want to share some behind the scenes of what it looked like in the beginning of starting the podcasting journey. My journey started 5 years ago but actually started with FB lives 7-8 years ago. It all started with a gut pull, and instinct to start and let it be messy. This is part 1 and the next episode will share what I have learned to date since starting this journey over 5 years ago, and recording over 550 episodes between 2 shows. In this episode we discuss:1) We are so conditioned for quick results, we start for the wrong reasons, it looks easy or we get stuck in comparison, high expectations of downloads or making money from it. Podcasting is a long game process and you have to start for the right reasons. 2) We might not be clear on our brand message, who our ideal guests are, too hard on ourselves in general or getting caught up on the numbers, the downloads and the amount of success that we perceive we are having. 3) How can you be more vulnerable and real with your audience? Do you teach or do you share? Podcasting is about the audience and there has to be some piece of what is in it for them to subscribe, listen, share and review your podcast. In this episode we discuss: 1) Following the gut pull even when they don't make sense. Not everyone is going to see, understand or believe in your vision and that's ok, it's not a conference call. 2) Your podcast is an extension of your brand, so figure out who you are, what your lessons are, what you could literally stand up and talk about with no notes and go from there. Don't get caught up in the details. Yes there's details and there's also tons of people who have gone before you to learn those details. 3) Stopping and starting, getting in your head and overthinking the pieces of podcasting are normal. If you want to do it, do it. Be willing to promote your work, share the episodes, ask for the reviews, the support, and be consistent. Your podcast is an extension of you and your brand, let it be exactly what it is meant to be. 4) The journey, the downloads, the wins, intention, challenges and beautiful lessons of building a podcast over the past 5 years. 438 | Using Doubt to Fuel Your Vision

In this episode, part 2 of the doubt series, I want to talk about how doubt works in our subconscious mind and bodies and what is happening in the body and how we can work to shift it. Let's look at how we can actually use doubt to fuel our vision instead of holding us back from all that we are looking to create. Self doubt is so powerful and it can stop us before we get started. Self-doubt is one of the many faces of fear, whether the fear is being judged, rejected, or feeling like we are failing, and this only spirals the feelings of self-doubt. It is a paralyzing feeling and experience. Today we will share some tools to use when doubt arises and learn how to use doubt to actually fuel our vision instead of stopping us from following our vision. In this episode we discuss: 1) What happens when the doubt arises, yes awareness is necessary, it is what you choose to do next that matters. We spend so long waiting for the fear to be gone or to just go away, and it will never leave on its own. Life is 10% of what happens to us and 90% our reaction to what is happening. That means that 90% of our results are up to us, so we do always have a choice in how we respond. 2) When doubt arises we can choose to bring our conscious mind to the present moment. Our doubt continues to plant, grow roots, and anchor in our subconscious mind, so it is bringing our conscious attention to our behaviour and then supporting our subconscious healing and reprogramming. The first shift happens with awareness, then it is taking a vulnerable and brave step, and through bravery we build strength, and then we build confidence and courage. We can't get courage without taking this step. 3) Visualize what you are creating and working towards. Your subconscious mind thinks in terms of pictures, symbols, and emotions. It doesn't understand negatives, it also doesn't understand the difference between the past, future and present, so if you can visualize what you want to create, and give your subconscious mind a picture/a feeling to focus on, then it will open up all the different possibilities and give you something to focus on. 4) I share the example of the seed in the ground. How you nurture it, focus on it, and care for it. As soon as doubt appears, I invite you to ask yourself the questions, "wouldn't it be cool if", or "what if?" This allows your subconscious mind to start to ask deeper questions and see what is possible. 437 | Stop Feeding The Doubt

In this episode, I want to talk about how doubt works in our subconscious mind and bodies and what is happening in the body and how we can work to shift it. Self doubt is so powerful and it can stop us before we get started. Self-doubt is one of the many faces of fear, whether the fear is being judged, rejected, or feeling like we are failing, and this only spirals the feelings of self-doubt. It is a paralyzing feeling and experience. Over the next two solo episodes, I will dive deeper into doubt and give you tools for shifting the doubt and release the grip it has on you in your life.In this episode we discuss: 1) The increased feeling of self-doubt is often a sign that we are working to edge past our comfort zones. It is the moment our ego steps in and says, "what are you actually thinking?" All the old stories pop up fast and almost spiral us out of control. If you are constantly apologizing or second guessing yourself, you are always feeding the doubt and this is likely a pattern you have repeated many times over in your life. 2) Start by recognizing that our fear isn't real. We are not our fear, it is not our identity. It is our ego's way of planning ahead into the future and protecting us from pain, discomfort, failure or growth. The root of self-doubt is fear and doubt actually means to hesitate or waiver. Our brain hates uncertainty, and this is actually one of the most consistent things we experience. Change is the only constant. 3) Just because we feel fear doesn't mean we have to react to it. We can change the fear when we change our response to it. We are feeding it or feeding our future possibilities. Feeding the doubt and fear of what the future might look like is useless energy since it will only come to be a reality if we actually move. 4) The amygdala center in our brain releases cortisol and adrenaline throughout our body at the first initial thoughts of fear. Once the amygdala triggers the flow of stress hormones your body is experiencing in a similar fashion as if you were being chased by a tiger. One of the only ways to change this is to consciously bring attention to it (subconscious and conscious brain), when we bring our conscious attention to it, this is activating our frontal cortex, this is the higher order thinking or decision making part of our brain and when we consciously activate it, it cuts the roof of our fear. It becomes the roadblock to break the pattern. 5) So it all starts with awareness and understanding that we can change this process immediately by bringing awareness to it. I am sharing the example of planting a seed into the ground, how we can prepare the environment for success, and how we can never see the germination process, but it is happening. It's All Content

In this episode, I want to share this message that I share with my clients every day. Every single thing we are going through every single day is content. It doesn't have to be curated, perfect to be shared. In this episode we discuss: 1) You can be going through something and it can be challenging and you still don't have to share it all. You can learn to share how you are balancing and holding all of it. Sharing and holding success and doubt all at the same time as this is what our clients are going through and it is all possible at the same time. 2) We are all being asked to be more relatable, more real with others. If you feel called to share something with others, there is a reason for it. What is one thing that you wish you could share with others, or something you could be more vulnerable with others. That quick response is your subconscious mind that is responding so quickly. 3) How can we share more and be more of who we are? There is no perfect way to share, you do it with something you can have perspective on something and let people learn and see you during your experiences. Your audience might trust you more if you can allow yourself to share more of yourself. Do You Listen When Your Intuition Speaks?

In this episode, I want to talk about the power of listening to your intuition and do you trust it to let it guide you? Our intuition is our internal compass, it is sending us signals to what to say yes or no to, what to follow and what to stay away from. I have had so many experiences in my lifetime where my intuition has spoken to me, and now that I understand more of my human design, this makes so much more sense. The problem is that our intuition rarely "makes sense", so expecting it to make sense only blocks it further. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Learning to listen to your gut, your intuition before your head speaks. Too often we listen to our head because we are trying to figure out all the moving pieces, how it will look, or work out, and we will never have these answers. 2) Learning to ask the questions and build a relationship with your intuition. It is your guide or compass that is trying to speak to you and show you which things to say yes and no to, what opportunities to follow and how to build the trust within your intuition. 3) I am sharing a personal story of how my intuition spoke to me recently and what is going to unfold because of choosing to listen to it. Who Is Doing Your Programming?

In this episode, I want to talk about your programming and who is in charge of it? So many times we fall into the space of being a victim of our circumstances, feeling like we don't have a choice with what is happening or we are feeling this constant push of not working enough, giving ourselves criticism for taking downtime and working with our brain that is always onto the next thing. We are actually being the thief of our own peace. Comparison is the thief of joy, yet we tend to be the thief of our own peace by not calling attention to the programming that is going on in our thoughts. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Our thoughts are only part of the problem. It is our words that we speak that create the emotions that we feel inside of our bodies and these emotions keep us stuck. When we catch ourselves with our thoughts, it is creating a mantra or something in the moment to draw awareness to it, and to release it without judgment, shame or criticism. 2) Can you recognize when you are sabotaging your own peace or joy, and bring it back to the gap and the gain. Choose to stand in the gain, compare your current self to your past self and then release the expectation of the outcome. Our expectations are literally killing or stopping us from experiencing joy in our lives. This is the fruits of all of the work we are doing. 3) You are ultimately in charge of your programming, and it is owning the fact that you have years of undoing to be aware of. You will always slip back, and when self care or boundaries are at their lowest, this can be more challenging. The Missing Piece Of Celebration

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on learning to celebrate our "failures" not just our wins. Failures (whatever definition you give it) are part of the equation and you will never build a business without some major flops, mishaps and mistakes. It will never happen. Plus combine the fact that you won't be the same person in 1 month, 6 months or 1 year, so what works today is not guaranteed to work tomorrow. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Social media is a highlight reel and it is a snapshot in time of where you currently are at this moment. It does not give justice to the hundreds of steps that got you to where you are today. And where you are today, won't get you to where you will be tomorrow. 2) Share your missteps, your lessons, the challenges you overcame etc. because you are normalizing all the messy steps in between for others. You are showing them that it is possible for you to. If you can't look back at something you released 6 months ago and feel somewhat embarrassed or laugh at your mistakes, then you waited too long to release it. 3) Failure only has the meaning that you give it. That is it. Carrying around the baggage from your past is literally blocking you from reaching all that is available for you in the future. Your future depends on you choosing to let it go and not carrying it. S5 Ep 428Choose to Be the Bigger Person

In this episode, I share some on choosing to be the bigger person, especially when we are being pushed in a way that is against your values, who you are and what you stand for. We can always choose how we respond. In this episode, we discuss: 1) The social media space can really push buttons. Pay attention to how it makes you feel, who is on your feed, what you are consuming. When it doesn't feel good, what do you choose to do? Learn how to respond vs react. 2) The haters, the negative comments and people, are always there. They aren't going anywhere. Send them love back, block, delete, move on, and don't let them stop you from being who you are meant to be. 3) Respond with compassion, your behaviour always speaks volumes about you, and the same goes for someone else. S5 Ep 427The Meaning You Give the Fear

In this episode, I share some thoughts on the meaning that we give to our fear. "F-E-A-R: has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choice is yours." — Zig Ziglar "Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it." ~ Tony Robbins. Fear can be our guidepost, our compass that something is so big for us that it gets overwhelming or we allow the overwhelm to take over. In this episode, we discuss: 1) When we are stuck in fear we are fearing the worst. We are prepping and planning for the worst thing to happen, and we go to the absolute worst-case scenario, when in fact it is a scenario that rarely happens. Where do you allow your mind to go when the fear shows up? 2) When fear shows up I check-in. Am I feeling called to do something out of lack or because I know it can expand me? If it is the expansion and I am stuck in the but how then do I know I have moved my thinking up to my head and allowed myself to be stuck. 3) Fear means nothing, it doesn't mean you are weak, scared, not strong enough, or believing it is not possible for you. Get into action and let the movement be the thing that creates a shift. 4) Know that the fear actually never goes away. I like to call fear my teammate, I don't like to resist her, she is part of the team. S5 Ep 425Let the Door Close

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on the doors and how we know when it is time to let them close. This is a big one, one that I have relearned, experienced, and relearned multiple times in my life. From small experiences to massive life decisions, we tend to wait far too long to make the decision to open the door or close the door. In this episode, we discuss: 1) We overanalyze everything, at least I do. We can easily keep doors open for longer than necessary because we don't want to make the wrong decision. That open door is blocking us from other opportunities. 2) We stick a door stopper or a foot in the door hoping we can have it both ways. 3) The meaning that we give to things actually decides our actions and emotions. The meaning that we give something comes from our past experiences - good and bad, from our fears, goals, failures, successes, and our interpretation of what it all means. We are the ones keeping ourselves stuck in our stories. S5 Ep 424The Story Only Has the Meaning That You Give It

In this episode, I share some thoughts on the meaning that we give to our stories. "Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it." ~ Tony Robbins. This is a mantra I continually use in my life. Our life is composed of multiple life experiences and people that are sometimes strategically placed in our lives to teach us something, or to help us become the best version of ourselves. In this episode, we discuss: 1) The truth is the truth, and the story is the story. Not all experiences will be great experiences and that's ok. Life is forever giving us what we need to become the best version of ourselves. Whatever we are telling ourselves is the truth we are giving it. The sooner we can get ourselves back to neutral the better. 2) The moments in our life that may appear to be the closed doors, the stopped opportunities may actually in turn be the doors that change the game for us. Sometimes we are only a few degrees off, and not as stuck as we think we are. 3) The meaning that we give to things actually decides our actions and emotions. The meaning that we give something comes from our past experiences - good and bad, from our fears, goals, failures, successes, and our interpretation of what it all means. S5 Ep 423You Have a Voice, So Use it with Valeria Elliott

In this episode, I am speaking with Ms. V The Storyteller. Valeria Elliott, better known as Ms. V The Storyteller, lost her voice at six and didn't get it back until she was twenty-three. Valeria started sharing her personal stories and decided to turn them into a Podcast. Her podcast is for anyone who has lost their voice and wants to get it back. Her stories are personal, and she uses them as a tool to help others who may have gone through similar stories. In this episode, we discuss:1) How we can find ourselves stuck in a chapter of our lives and then continue to give the story or chapter we are stuck in more meaning than it needs to have. Our stories are the point of connection, and learning to share our stories allows us to build incredible connections with others. 2) We can learn to train ourselves to not live in our stories or to not live in our past. Our story is simply an experience. 3) The more we put people on pedestals, the bigger the gap we give ourselves for our own growth in our life. We also make it a bigger drop for them to fall from when we finally see their human side. S5 Ep 422Where Ideas Go to Die

In this episode, I am sharing an experience that came up for me during a recent coaching session. As humans, we continually want to plan, map it all out, understand the how, and make it make sense, and while we are planning the best way to open that door of opportunity, opening it no longer becomes an option. We plan ourselves into a complete blockage. In this episode, we discuss: 1) When we look at our past experiences, how many of them have worked out according to plan? Literally none. We can't think our way out of a problem, it eventually comes down to getting into action. 2) Our body does not have the capacity to overthink. Only the mind does. When the mind is heavy, shift your physical body into movement. Ground yourself, move your body, the more movement your body gets the less the mind receives and the less it can stop you in your actions. 3) The moment we take our ideas to our brain to map out and plan, we block our own unique human design for how we process, experience, and make decisions. Go to https://www.mybodygraph.com to learn more about your human design and how this can be impacting how you learn, integrate, and create change in your life. 4) Break or interrupt the pattern faster. When our mindset is full of doubt it doesn't take long to search for proof of what we want to see, break the pattern faster and choose differently. S5 Ep 421No Pedestals Here

In this episode, I am sharing thoughts on how we put people, mentors, and coaches on pedestals. A couple of things happen when we do that and neither of them helps us to create the change we are seeking in our lives. In this episode we discuss: 1) When we put people on pedestals, we have no idea what their story is, just what we perceive their story to be. Our perception comes from our experience and has nothing to do with that person. The bigger the pedestal, the larger the drop when they show their human side, or when they fall below our expectations. 2) A pedestal immediately creates an inferior/superior relationship between the two of you. You will never connect fully with this person you admire because you are not viewing yourself and them as being on the same playing field. 3) This process increases the gap or the stories that we are telling ourselves about what we think we are capable of and only reinforces what we are telling ourselves about why we can't achieve the same thing. 4) One way to stop putting others on pedestals is to focus on cultivating the best relationship possible with yourself, self-love, compassion, feeling good about yourself, your gifts and values, and investing in yourself every single day. We are all on an equal playing field and the fact that this "mentor" created what she did, shows you what is possible for you too. Ulrika's vision is to contribute to a more beautiful, happier, more conscious and loving world. In this episode, we discuss: 1) The breakdown and understanding of the masculine and feminine energies and how an imbalance between these energies changes how we show up in our lives. 2) Akashic records how we can dive into our old Karma to unpack it, see it differently and how Ulrika helps her clients to transform that Karma into flow, freedom and being present with what is. 3) How the healing journey is an ongoing process, and the more we commit to healing ourselves, the more we can step into our gifts to continue to pay it forward and do the work we are here to do. S5 Ep 419Love on Your Haters

In this episode I am sharing an experience dealing with "trolls" or negative people on the internet. When we are building our businesses online, sharing vulnerable stories, we are putting ourselves out there and it leaves us exposed. When we get a hater who messages on our post, or sends a dm, we can choose how we respond. I recently received a nasty one, and wanted to share the experience with you in a podcast episode. In this episode we discuss: 1) Our haters are always there, people will disagree with us, and they're allowed to. Their response is not our responsibility. Our reaction is our responsibility and with practice it gets easier to respond in the moment in a way that best serves us. 2) Do we want to give all of our energy to the 1%, who's reaction says more about them than us? When we let the 1% stop us, we don't reach the other 99% who are praying for the solutions that we are holding onto. 3) Where can we use that as content, leaving everyone in integrity and physiologically see ourselves letting it go?4) Sometimes we are meant to be the hero in someone else's story and sometimes we are meant to be the villain in their story and maybe that's the role we are meant to play. Our growth can trigger something in them that is not healed and it's not for us to heal them, we do the work on ourselves.

She also raised three children to young adulthood. Dr. Landers is an expert in NICU medicine, breastfeeding medicine, and donor human milk banking. She served as a national speaker for the American Academy of Pediatrics. After retirement, she published a book about her medical career and motherhood experiences. She actively supports mothers on her social media accounts. In this episode we discuss: 1) The demands on working mothers, combined with the pandemic and juggling all of the demands. We talk about burnout, how to recognize it and how important it is to ask for and allow yourself to receive support. 2) How important it is for moms to share their stories, to normalize the struggles since the more we share our stories the more we can support others by showing them that they are not alone in their challenges. 3) The concept of fulfillment, seeking joy in our day-to-day, and how to drop or manage the expectations that we continue to place upon ourselves. S5 Ep 417How to Own it When You're in a Funk

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts in response to what do I do when I am in a funk? There's this weird message (unspoken) in social media, building an online business, of what do I do when I am in a funk? Or even more ridiculously, assuming people in the online space don't have off days or that they're in a funk. That is when we're not even being fair, reasonable with ourselves. That is where comparison can be a really slippery slope. In this episode, we discuss: 1) How to identify when you are in a funk, what does that look like for you, and how quickly can you bring it back to an ownership piece of what do you need that you are not giving yourself. Time, rest, permission, boundaries, self care, fitness, nutrition, habits etc. It always comes back to me owning what I need to give myself. 2) How fast can we shift, disrupt the pattern and take responsibility for our funk? 3) Give yourself permission for some downtime. We can only give from overflow to others. That is it. We always go first. S5 Ep 415Choosing Who You Want to Be Changes Your Story with Kelly-Anne Appleton

Today we are speaking with Mindset & Success Coach, Kelly-Anne Appleton. As a self-proclaimed "seeker" Kelly-Anne has spent the last 20 years of her life on a quest to learn to love and understand herself. After years of personal growth and healing, she finally happened on material that reinforced and solidified her belief that everything she was searching for was inside her. In 2020 she became certified in that work through the Proctor-Gallagher Institute. As an empathetic and intuitive Mindset & Success Coach, she is passionate about helping others to transform their lives through this work, break patterns, uncover their power, create a life they love, and truly know they are worthy of all good things. Kelly-Anne was one of 47 women who were successful in bringing their abuser to justice in the largest case of non-residential sexual abuse by a Catholic priest in North America. She has spoken at a number of events and her story was highlighted in an episode of the CBC The Fifth Estate entitled "The Good Father". Kelly-Anne has been an outspoken advocate for the rights of survivors and continues to work to empower and inspire women. Her story will soon be published in the collaborative book, She Is Worthy. As a trained leader through One Circle Foundation, she currently hosts a Women's Circle in her hometown, a space where women's souls are fed and filled up by the love, support and energy of the women around them.In this episode we discuss: 1) The process, experience and power of shame and how it can be such a block that keeps us stuck in our story. Shame also showed up in the emotions of anger, resentment, and frustration and it affected every relationship in her life. Kelly-Anne does an incredible job of speaking about shame, the power of our voices, and how our story can truly help one person and that can change everything for that person. 2) Recognizing the difference between advice and council. Advice tends to come from people who are not doing the things that we want to do or not living the life we want to live. Council represents the people you respect individually, who they are, what they are going through and how we can learn so much from them. 3) Forgiveness is a decision that we are making, not a feeling that we have. Embracing forgiveness is about us choosing what we get to carry, what is supporting us and how we choose to live our lives. S5 Ep 414Ask "What is This Teaching Me"

In this episode, I am sharing the go-to question, that I refer back to on a regular basis. If we are always willing to learn and grow, and if we are asking for growth, then life will be forever teaching us lessons. What we choose to make that mean is all on us. I have lived and embodied this question and lesson especially over the last month. In this episode, we discuss: 1) We decide at any time what something is teaching us. We are a victim of our circumstances or a the victor of our story. We always get to decide. 2) How we all sign up for our soul contract and how life gives us the challenges and experiences to grow into being able to serve that soul contract. Life doesn't always give us what we want, it gives us what we need in order to grow into that higher version of ourselves. 3) When we ask what life is teaching us, we are opening up our subconscious mind to see the possibilities. Ask a different question, get a different answer. 4) Asking more questions, creates curiosity, helps you to see potential, build emotional intelligence, lending to better soft skills - key in leadership at work and interpersonal relationship building. S5 Ep 413Is Perfectionism Stopping You?

In this episode I am talking about perfectionism and how it is a 20-ton block that we hold onto to keep ourselves "safe, protected and we believe unaffected by the potential opinions and judgements of others." As Brene Brown says, "If I look perfect, live perfect, work perfect, I can avoid or minimize criticism or blame." Perfectionism is a learned behaviour that typically comes from childhood and a lot of times it is a block that we use to keep ourselves from being hurt, yet all it is doing is keeping us from being seen. In this episode we discuss: 1) I am a recovering perfectionist and perfectionism/fighter is one of the 4 blocks I refer to when it comes to owning our stories. The others are victim, hider and people pleaser. If you want to take the free Blocks to Owning Your Story Quiz, https://www.marshavanw.com/story-blocks 2) I used to wear perfectionism as a badge of honour, thinking it was because I was a striver, I worked hard, I had a level of excellence that I expected of myself. When actually healthy striving is self-focused in "how can I improve", whereas perfectionism is other focused, "what will they think"? I wanted others to see that I could do x,y,z, and it also allowed me to fly under the radar from a young age, and not be the source of issues, problems, or growing up long before I needed to. I thought this pressure was helping me and it did for many reasons, until it didn't 3) This became a very self-destructive pattern of behaviour that literally blew up once we started dealing with teen substance abuse and I was living the complete opposite of a perfect life. "When perfectionism is driving us, then shame is riding shotgun and fear is that annoying backseat driver." Brene Brown. I was living in shame, feeling not good enough, feeling that I didn't want to be seen, yet all I deeply craved was connection and being seen 4) This pattern went on repeat until I couldn't do it any longer. It no longer worked and I was blocking myself from being seen, from receiving support, from connection, from the people who have since impacted my life, and from setting up for the work I am doing now. I learned how to shift this through the writing process. There are no authors published who are perfectionists, it's not doable. As soon as I set down my shield, I was able to live my life, truly live it. I am not sure where I would be if I didn't because the research shows that perfectionism is the path to depression, anxiety, addiction and life paralysis. In this episode we discuss: 1) Learning to understand our nervous system, how to see when it is regulated and when it isn't, what that looks like, the effect it has on all of our relationships and how to take the small, consistent steps to learn how to regulate it. 2) The pain our body can trap for years, the inability of the body to pull back from our nervous system responses and how persistent increasing stress levels, only exacerbates our body's response to pain. 3) The process of learning how to let go, allowing our body to stabilize, then let go again and stabilize. This process of letting go and creating stability also allows our body to find a neutral state to return to instead of constantly rebounding between the two extremes. S5 Ep 411The Power of Your Voice

The Power of Your VoiceIn this episode, I am sharing some thoughts and misconceptions when it comes to "finding your voice". You actually don't need to find your voice. You haven't lost it or never had it, you haven't used it because you are waiting to feel confident, to trust it or to find a way to avoid criticism or judgments from others who might disagree with your message. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Action breeds confidence. The only way to start to build confidence is to get into action. Let it be messy, not perfect, this is how you let others see you, how you build confidence, create feedback and then re-ajust and course correct. 2) Your voice is unique. Your message is unique. When we give into the fear, we are honestly playing a story and making it about us. When we can step outside of ourselves and see what we can do, how our message can help others, we can work through our fears of what will others think. 3) I have to bring HD (human design) into this conversation. If you have not had an HD assessment, I strongly encourage you to dive in. The throat center is all about expression and manifesting. I will be diving into more content on the throat and the spleen (our center for intuition) because as we are diving into all of the content for the HOW method, Healing, Owning and Writing your story, it has become more apparent how we have to learn more about who we are and find our own unique way to work through our fears of using our voice. These lessons at this time in our world are so important for kids to find and create that inner safety within themselves. 2) How much of a gift vulnerability is and what we can experience when we learn to put the armour down, even when it is scary, and learning how to put the armour down with the people that we trust and the people who have earned the right to hear our stories. 3) The difference between being in our stories and in our stories and learning how to let go of shame, stories that don't serve us, being connected to our why's and the power of allowing ourselves to simply be in this present moment. S5 Ep 410What Are You Choosing to Allow?

In this episode, I am sharing the some thoughts on boundaries, what we allow, how to recognize when we are carrying things that don't serve us, and some practical tips for how to work though the process of letting go when we realize that we are carrying things that are not ours to carry. This is a concept that affects and impacts so many of us, especially when it comes to building a business in the online space, as well as so many of us being disconnected or hiding behind our phones or devices. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Boundaries are our highest form of self-respect, we choose what we allow into our lives. That is people, energy, experiences, how we choose to feel, all of it is on us and it is our responsibility. 2) What we allow is what will continue. It honestly is that simple. When you change your response with someone in your life and put a boundary in place, don't automatically elevate your expectations of their behaviour. Their behaviour is always their choice. 3) Get real, honest and raw with yourself. When something isn't working in your life, what can you change, what can you do differently, and how can you bring it back to ownership to see what is missing in your life? S5 Ep 408Who Do You Need Boundaries From?

In this episode, I want to share a concept on boundaries that hit home recently. Boundaries start with clarity about where you are feeling some anxiety in your life. Ask yourself what is missing, where you are feeling anxiety and what you know is missing. You know the answers. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Boundaries start with our values, and clarity on our values makes it easier for all the yes' and no's you will follow through with in your life and business. 2) Boundaries are a moving line, like a bubble. Not a hard line in the sand with no negotiating and also recognizing that this changes every single day. If you find that your self-care practices are low, your stress is high, I guarantee your boundaries will be the next thing affected. 3) What boundary do you need for yourself from yourself? I dove into this in more detail in the episode. S5 Ep 407Savage Surrender with SaraMae Hollandsworth

Today we are speaking with SaraMae Hollandsworth. SaraMae is a Wellness Executive + Entrepreneur, Physical + Spiritual Fitness Expert, Double Certified Health Coach & Personal Trainer, Speaker, Writer, and Athlete. SaraMae Hollandsworth had over 20 years of experience as a health and fitness expert and entrepreneur. She is a high-performance athlete and trainer who suffered a near-life-ending infection that landed her in life support and in a coma and ultimately caused her to have both legs amputated below the knees. Her story is one of rising from rock bottom and near-death to rebuild her life better, stronger, healthier, and happier than before. To repurpose her pain into power, purpose, and potential. She is committed to using her story to help others heal, thrive, and fulfill their God-given purpose. In this episode we discuss: 1) How we are co-creators and creators of our life and we can create change when we embody this thinking and perspective. Sitting and waiting for life to change on its own is literally giving away our power to our circumstances and taking ourselves out of the driver's seat from creating life-changing results. 2) The concept of "Savage Surrender", forgiveness, letting go, and what a spiritual awakening can actually look like. It isn't a beautiful or peaceful awakening. In fact, it can be a messy wake-up call full of loud, banging music and noises that are disruptive. Embracing all of it, especially the messy parts is the path to creating lasting change. 3) The concepts of healing generational trauma, how that work can be so heavy and challenging, yet some of us are called into this space because we are truly the ones to break that cycle. 4) The best is yet to come. When we stay in this headspace and energy we show up for our lives being in the driver's seat and open to receiving the messages meant for us, and anchor in the knowledge that we can create whatever we desire in our lives.
