S5 Ep 354The How is Irrelevant
In this episode I wanted to share a simple concept that I learned from another coach that hit home. It all comes down to the HOW, and wanting to have the perfect plan in place before we start anything. 1) The how is irrelevant. We only ever learn the how in reverse. Try to think of one time in your life when the "how" was shown to you beforehand and you followed that roadmap to a T and it worked out perfectly. 2) The how is only seen in reverse, in hindsight and we know hindsight is 20/20. We are never meant to see the how ahead of time. We are responsible for seeing and owning the vision of what we want to create and then allowing ourselves to get into action to create and bring that vision to life. 3) The how is actually in the now. It is created by trying, taking an action step, falling down, course correcting, starting over and applying those lessons learned to the next step. We are creating the how as we go. 4) We may learn tools and tips from other coaches about how their how worked, and it can be a shortcut for us in some way shape or form, but they can't give us our roadmap. They can help us to see what's possible and help us uncover what is blocking us from seeing our own how, but it is not their job to give it to us. It is ours to create. S5 Ep 353Finding the Gifts in Our Adversities with Erin Paterson
Today we are speaking with Author and Public Speaker, Erin Paterson. Erin is a Canadian author and public speaker who tested gene positive for Huntington's Disease (HD). Shortly after she started suffering from depression, then received more crushing news, she was infertile. Despite those diagnoses she was determined to have a family and live a joyful life. She is on a mission to positively impact other people's lives by writing and speaking about genetic disease, depression, and infertility. She shows that it is possible to live a meaningful life even when faced with unexpected obstacles. She is the author of All Good Things: A Memoir About Genetic Testing, Infertility and One Woman's Relentless Search for Happiness. Erin is also the founder of Lemonade Press, a local publisher focused on empowering patient communities by helping people write and share their own journey's in specialized medical anthologies. In this episode we discussed: 1) The journey that Erin had to go through during her HD testing, infertility experience, as well as her work to move through a deep depression. Erin shares how at the time it was survival and stacking one small thing on top of each other to build herself to where she is today. 2) The concept of vulnerability hangover and how it is a process of checking in every single day with what you need or what decision you need to make to move you one step closer to where you want to be. Sharing our stories can be an incredibly taxing and vulnerable process, yet it leads us to a beautiful space of seeing the gifts in our adversities. 3) Learning to share her story of testing positive for HD and infertility, allowed Erin to control the narrative, unpack her story, and allow her to support others in seeing that they are not alone in their stories of struggle. S5 Ep 352Core Values: Standards, Expectations & Boundaries - Part 3
In the 3rd part of this series on values we are going to break down the word values, core values and see how this pertains to our life and business. The first episode focused on what core values and helped you to identify them in your life. The second episode dove into are those core values in alignment in your life? Instead of looking outward at people, programs or comparison for what everyone else is doing for alignment, it starts with looking inward. In this episode we will be discussing how your life is a representation of the core values that you say are important to you and looking for the gaps. We will also be talking about the things that you might not be recognizing such as expectations, standards and the boundaries that might be missing to solidify these core values in your life. In this episode we discuss: 1) Identifying the gaps, and what is blocking you from living a life in alignment with your core values. 2) The difference between expectations and standards. Expectations are living in the future and are based on things you can't control or predict. Standards are what you can control, and those are based on decisions you make every single day. 3) Where can you raise your standards? Raise your standards for what you do, say yes or no to every single day. How can you raise your boundaries, give back to yourself, listen to what you need and receive all that is available for you? Raising your standards allows you to plan out your life accordingly to set yourself up for success. If you want a deeper understanding of standards and expectations, listen the Episode #122 Raise Your Standards Not Your Expectations, https://apple.co/32c6zaG 4) Boundaries are a moving line, like a bubble. Not a hard line in the sand with no negotiating and also recognizing that this changes every single day. If you find that your self-care practices are low, your stress is high, I guarantee your boundaries will be the next thing affected. Catch this before it happens and unravels. S5 Ep 351What Is Worrying Costing You?
In this episode, I am diving into my understanding and lessons about the energy of worrying. According to Psychology Today, "Worry tends to be more focused on thoughts in our heads, while anxiety is more visceral in that we feel it through our bodies. Our thoughts create our reality, and the continuous response and energy of worry is putting visceral stress on our bodies, so if we can change our thoughts we can manage, shift or change what is happening inside of our bodies. Thoughts of worrying are all future based, focused on things we can't control, and blocking us from how we can control our present circumstances. It is an avoidance of energy and actually a waste of our own energy, which is the only resource we have to create change in our lives. 1) Worrying is a habit. It is a response, a learned response to post-traumatic stress. It also comes from avoiding doing the healing work that our nervous systems require. It is living in the future, creating a false sense of belief of control and not living in the present moment. Sometimes the present moment is too difficult or painful to live in, so we avoid it. We use our energy to relive the past or try to control the future. 2) Healing requires focus on the present moment, what we need to be our best selves and honouring what we need, including the boundaries that we may be missing. Look at what the triggers are, phone/screen use, lack of sleep, stimulants, people, social media, and take radical responsibility to change one small thing at a time. 3) On one side of the paper, write down all of the things you are currently worried about. The things that are taking up your energy, mindset or thoughts all day long. Don't edit this list, brain dump it out with no judgement. Then on the other side of the page check mark the things you can control and then put the two numbers into perspective. Now script out the sentences that shift your thinking or are the exact opposite of what you are worried about. 4) The act of deep breathing (also called diaphragmatic breathing) is a practice that enables more air to flow into your body and can help to calm your nerves, reducing stress and anxiety. This can help your focus, attention span, nervous system, and help to promote healing. This takes work, but start with recognizing where these emotions are starting from. S5 Ep 350Let Your Audience See You with Jillian Murphy
Today we are speaking with Business Mentor, Jillian Murphy. Jillian is a sales mentor and business coach for entrepreneurs. After 22 years in the corporate space Jillian moved online after losing it all during the pandemic. In the beginning of the pandemic, Jillian dove in head first into the online space growing her business from scratch. Over these past 6 months, while working through medical conditions, Jillian has had to dive into healing, listening to what her body needs and trusting this process with her. In this episode we discussed: 1) What happens when we are forced to pivot, change in our business, and how it comes down to asking what your audience needs. Learning to speak to your audience and engage with them is different from talking to your audience or putting something together that they are not asking for. 2) What selling means, how selling is an act of service, and how we can make selling difficult or mean something completely different based on our own experiences with selling. 3) The importance of always being in mentorship, and how sticking with a mentor is important to see potential success. Sometimes it is easy to get distracted by what all the other coaches are doing and offering. Also let your audience see you, it doesn't have to be perfect to be successful. In fact that is not being authentic with your audience. S5 Ep 349Assessing Your Core Values - Part 2
In this series we are going to break down the word values, core values and see how this pertains to our life and business. A value is simply a way of being or believing that we hold important. (Brene Brown). Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk - we are clear about what we believe and hold important and we take care that our intentions, our words, thoughts, and behaviours align with those beliefs. Without having a knowledge or understanding of our core values, we are not making decisions from a grounded position of knowing ourselves and what is important to us. Sharing my own personal story of values, learning and understanding them and using them as the basis for major and minor decisions in our life. In this second episode we are looking more closely into the core value words that speak to you. In this episode we discuss:1) Values are individual beliefs that motivate people to act one way or another. They guide our human behaviour, choices and decisions. Not right or wrong, just a clarification of what drives us and what we hold most important. 2) Speaking of alignment…. Looking external instead of internal by knowing yourself. This is about choosing words that speak to you, that are important to you as a person. Now comes the harder part, looking at what you say is important for you, and asking yourself the hard questions of, "am I living in alignment within myself with what I say is important in my life?". For example, if you have core values that you are not aligned to, yet you say they are important, you are already in a disconnect. Saying health is important, but not eating to nourish your body, drinking water or moving your body; or self-worth, but deep down you don't feel worthy; trust but surrounding yourself with people you don't trust or respect…you get the picture. 3) Don't look for alignment externally, it all starts internally. Ask yourself the hard questions, why did you pick these words, are they your words, what is missing for you to live by them, what boundaries are missing and where are you out of alignment? 4) What would life look like if you were living by your core values? What would have to change? Let your mind be open to the vision of what that would look like. Remember you are the master of your thoughts, and everything we do originates from our thoughts and beliefs, so this is where the work starts. S5 Ep 348The Impact of Comparison
In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on comparison and what it is doing to us in our lives and in our business. In this time of building our businesses online, especially this year when so many people are having to continue to pivot, shift, change or completely reinvent themselves in an unknown territory, it is too easy to stop and compare your "progress" to someone else's "perceived progress". Comparison is the biggest block in your progress, and you are the one who keeps putting that roadblock up. So much of my understanding of comparison comes from my learnings from Brene Brown, and her book "Atlas of the Heart" is incredible. In this episode we discuss:1) Comparison is a creativity killer. "Comparison is the crush of conformity from one side and competition from the other - it is trying to simultaneously fit in and stand out." It is saying, be like everyone else, but only better. ~ Brene Brown. There is upwards and downwards comparison and both are equally blocking in our movement and success. Social comparisons (up or down), make us feel less than, not worthy or better than or superior. All of the energy leads to the negative emotions of lack and lack of worthiness, fear, shame, anger, and sadness. No change is created in this energy space. 2) Comparison is the thief of joy ~Theodore Roosevelt . As soon as we fall into comparison to others, we are taking our eyes off of our own journey. We are losing sight of our own gifts, our own journey and what we are capable of creating. We also are comparing our chapter X to someone else's unknown chapter. When we think we know someone else's story, I promise that we don't. Think of all of the things on your own journey that you don't share with the world. 3) The energy of comparison actually messes with our own perspective. It takes it all out of context. It starts with awareness and recognizing the emotions that drive us into that space in the first place. Celebrating another person's success does not take away from your own, it actually is celebrating that another person is showing you what is possible. If someone is triggering you in a toxic way that affects your energy, then mute or unfollow. 4) Find the people who trigger you showing what is possible. The ones who expand you, and learn from them. Compare yourself to past versions of yourself and find ways to honour, love and support your younger version who fought like hell to get you here. Some values are intrinsically motivating such as love, truth and freedom while others are externally motivating such as ambition, radical responsibility or courage. Not right or wrong, just a clarification of what drives us and what we hold most important. 2) I have linked a page from Pinterest that you can look through to see what you consider important to you. S5 Ep 345Strategy Isn't Enough with Jennifer Yassen
In this episode, I am sharing an interview with Brand Expert, Content Strategist, and Storyteller, Jennifer Yassen. Jennifer and I connected in a mastermind in early 2021, and I loved how she helped brands and entrepreneurs to use their stories to build their brands. We connected multiple times over the past few months in live coaching calls, webinars, masterclasses and now a mastermind starting in January called Your Story Makes Your Brand. Together we are helping entrepreneurs unpack or unlock their story to gain clarity in their messaging to attract and connect with their ideal audience to grow their brand. This mastermind will include 1-1 support, a max of 5 people at one time so that we can dive into supporting you in your business. Join us for the Your Story Makes Your Brand Mastermind starting in January 2022 with incredible bonuses. Today we wanted to dive into how strategy isn't enough to build a business. In today's episode we discuss: 1) So many coaches spend thousands of dollars on trying to learn the how or the strategies to build their business, when it starts to become clear that without the belief or mindset that you see it as being possible to grow your business, then the strategy doesn't matter. 2) Also how so many coaches want to explode their brand as they continue to compare themselves to others in the online space, yet if they don't have a clear picture of what their brand is, or how to brand themselves, since you are always your brand, then it doesn't matter. You come first, you are the brand and the heart and soul of your business. S5 Ep 344Everything Is A Blessing with Coach Paul Casey
Today we speak with Coach Paul Casey. After spending his teenage years, 20's and early 30's in and out of incarceration, he made a huge mindset shift. When his mom passed in 2013 he gave up on life and went down a very dark hole which eventually led him to a fork in the road, he had to change everything or end up dead. The day he finally reached out for help was one of the hardest yet most freeing moments of his life. By participating in every self-help group or college class offered and reading every book on physical, mental, and emotional health he could get his hands on while still in prison, he changed his mindset and the direction of his life. In his mother's honor, he now helps people transform themselves into their healthiest, happiest, and most confident selves. He has helped 100's of people get in the best shape of their lives. He is the owner of A Better You Fitness LLC and creator of the Better Body series. He is a certified personal trainer through ISSA, certified Group fitness instructor through ACE, certified OTF coach, water Rower, and TRX Certified. In this episode we discuss. 1) This episode dives into all things addiction, time in prison, self-worth, and connection. Paul's destructive path started in his young teens and he spent most of his 20's incarcerated and he shares the experience, lessons learned, and how he is now using these lessons to pay it forward to others. 2) The power of forgiveness and how it is truly a life-changing practice to forgive yourself for the mistakes you've made (there is no failure, only feedback), and how forgiving others for their actions can truly repair and heal relationships. This creates space for healing and doesn't mean that you have no boundaries. It means choosing what you want to carry and recognizing how that affects you in your life. 3) Paul's passion in giving back to youth and supporting others with the lessons he learned on his journey. This gives so much purpose to his journey and allows him to continue to make an impact on others. He wants to inspire others to learn how to bring their best self forward in their life. That is how he is creating a ripple effect by sharing his story. S5 Ep 343Start 2022 with Celebration
In this "Monday mindset'' episode, a practice that I do to start the year off and it has everything to do with intention and not goal setting. In the episodes leading up to the end of 2021, I spoke all about Scripting, the power of subconscious reprogramming, and how this practice is great for business owners, or anyone who is looking to create results in 2022. 1) It always starts with gratitude, celebrations, looking at your wins for 2021, what challenges you overcame and how proud you are of what you have achieved in 2021. 2) Then moving to knowing what your values are, what you want to change, and possibly the boundaries you are missing and know you need to put into place. This also involves unpacking and re-writing your money stories and this can be a very difficult process to work through. 3) Pick a timeline to focus on and write your intentions for how you want it to unfold, and speak it into existence as though it is your reality. 4) Writing, re-writing, speaking it out loud, or recording the script on your phone to listen to regularly. This is a process that can lead to re-writing and changing your limiting beliefs which essentially will lead to changing your self worth story. S5 Ep 341Boundaries - It's Your Responsibility
In this "Monday mindset'' episode, I am sharing my experience, lessons learned and experiences with the tough word called "boundaries". Especially coming into the Christmas season, this is the time where boundaries are so important, necessary and truly a sign of self-respect. So here is another episode on boundaries and I know that it will serve you. 1) Years ago, I didn't even know what a boundary was or how to even create one. Every time a counselor mentioned the word it felt impossible and selfish for me to have boundaries in my life. Little did I know that understanding, learning, and creating boundaries would literally save my life. I knew I had to share this with my clients and surprisingly very few people understood boundaries. 2) Boundaries start with clarity about where you are feeling some anxiety in your life. Ask yourself what is missing, where you are feeling anxiety and what you know is missing. You know the answers. 3) Boundaries start with our values, and clarity on our values makes it easier for all the yes' and no's you will follow through with in your life and business. Once you have determined your values, take a look in your life to see where you can raise your standards, not your expectations. 5) Determine where your boundaries won't work or where they tend to break down. We have to recognize where things are not working so we can put a plan into place to make it work. Our boundaries are all about us, they aren't about anyone else. We must set our boundaries to honour the goals and priorities that we have set for our own lives. This is the only way we can conserve and honour our energy to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. No one is going to do this work for you. It is 100% your responsibility. 6) Boundaries are everywhere and encompass everything, our time, energy, people, relationships, demands, work, self-care, etc. Everything is impacted and affected by boundaries. S5 Ep 339Invoking The Healer Within with Jeanne Foot
Today we are speaking with Addiction and Recovery Specialist, Podcast Host of Naturally High, Co-Author of The Epiphany Project, Master Practitioner & Trainer of NLP & Clinical Hypnotherapy & Life and Success Coaching, Jeanne Foot. Jeanne is the founder of The Recovery Concierge, a premier mental health concierge boutique, co-author of The Epiphany Project and Host of the Naturally High Podcast, and Master Practitioner & Trainer of NLP. Jeanne uses her 15 years of experience as a certified addiction and trauma recovery specialist to give clients of The Recovery Concierge the best chance for sustainable recovery and an enhanced quality of life. Jeanne knows that all behavior has purpose and substance abuse is not about drugs or alcohol, but rather the root causes that are beneath those compulsions are part of the emotional response caused by past trauma. The customized concierge supports that Jeanne and TRC provide allows clients to move from 'surviving to thrive with a 97% success rate. Realizing that the path to recovery is not always linear and supporting each individual and family through their own unique journey is the driving force behind Jeanne's mission to change the misconceptions people have about the meaning of recovery. In this episode we discuss: 1) You are the common denominator in all areas or situations in your life. This is the power of taking radical responsibility in our lives. Not from a space of blame, from a space of taking back your own personal power. When we don't take radical responsibility for ourselves we then outsource our happiness and wellbeing to others. 2) All about healing generational trauma and how shame is universal. There's a mindset or a shift in perspective that we are chosen for this work. We can choose to step up and make our pain our purpose. 3) We are all in recovery of something in our lives. We talked about the concept of vulnerability, surrendering, and the power of self-care and listening to what we need so we can give to ourselves to give back to others. S5 Ep 338Rewriting Money Stories with Scripting
In this "Monday mindset'' episode, I am sharing my experience with scriptwriting as a part of the extended work of affirmations and how I apply this to money stories. It's not as simple as standing and speaking affirmations. It is about changing your thoughts from the level of your subconscious mind. These are the steps I use to write a script for my brain to focus on where it is going. After running a 2 hour scripting workshop in early December, it reminded me the importance of money stories. In today's episode we discuss: 1) Awareness, unpacking and looking at your money stories. 2) Start with your gratitude for where you are today and what your key values are and what you want to change. 3) Writing a letter to money as though it is a person, an entity or a friend. How have you treated it in your life and if it were a friend, would it still choose to be in your life? 3) Writing, re-writing, speaking it out loud, or recording the script on your phone to listen to regularly. 4) Here is a link to the Scripting Micromind starting in January on pre-sale now. S5 Ep 337The Story You Are Meant to Share
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts on how to embrace vulnerability and where to start. This one is going to be different than you think because I want to share one question that I ask a lot of my clients when they say where do I start with vulnerability? This is the question I ask them, "what is one thing or one story you wish you could be more vulnerable with your audience or others about?" This usually stirs up the gasp, the oh I would love to but what would they think, and all the stories and doubt creep up into your brain. What if that is exactly where you start? So in the true fashion of this podcast, I am sharing a story with you that I wish I could be more vulnerable about, so why not do it right here. In today's episode we discuss:1) My health history is complex. Health is one of my top values, and it's important to recognize where in your life it's in or not in alignment with your values. 2) Holding onto stories that harbour resentment, frustration, comparison are not meant to be held onto. This only traps energy, increases the shame and keeps us stuck in a loop of our story that doesn't serve us. We are the only ones who can let it go. 3) The stories only have the meaning that we give them. That is it. We decide the meaning we give it which also includes the energy we give it. What if we ask different questions, look at our circumstances differently, how would that change what we are going through? S5 Ep 334Gratitude With No Conditions
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts on gratitude, how to anchor it in the present moment and how to not attach conditions or restrictions to it. The practice of gratitude has come a long way, and I wanted to share with you today what it looks like now. In today's episode we discuss:1) Gratitude starts in the present moment, with what you have today even if you don't have everything you want yet. Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance. ~Eckhart Tolle 2) Choosing to focus on gratitude helps us to see that our past stories, lessons, and experiences can be used for something good for our future. It allows us to shift perspective. 3) When you feel the least thankful is when you need to focus on gratitude the most. What you focus on always expands and what you train your eyes to see is what it will notice more of. S5 Ep 331Collaboration Changes the Game
In this episode, I want to talk about collaboration, what it is, and how it can change your life if you truly let it. Collaboration is the action of working with someone to produce or create something. It is working together for a common purpose, and with knowledge with the right connections more is possible. It implies cooperation, is the opposite of competition, and is a word that many people say but actually might not wholeheartedly believe. Today I want to talk about what that means and why we might not be believing in collaboration. In today's episode we discuss: 1) Collaboration over competition. In this time of building a business online, looking at what others are doing, and thinking they know something you don't, that they are better than you or that when someone wins it means there's less available for you. 2) Not truly believing in collaboration, is a lack mindset and not an abundance mindset. 3) Shifting it by actually celebrating your sisters, the wins that others have, and acknowledging the content you might borrow, and trusting in your own ability that you have something of value to offer. 4) This is why the Rising Leaders Collective was born. S5 Ep 329Learning to Bless the Things You Once Resented
In this episode, I want to share a mindset shift or an awareness that I had this past week. It is about the things that we resent or resist and looking at the energy that we are wasting sitting in these emotions. What if these are the things we even despise of ourselves and we are holding onto that resentment. It is a weight that is holding us down, keeping us stuck in the same cycle of energy and frustration. We will never create change in this cycle. The circumstances and situations that made us who we are, are exactly the things we are being called to appreciate and be grateful for? What if these things are the actual things we must learn to love, respect, and appreciate about ourselves. In today's episode we discuss: 1) When you ask different questions, you get different answers. You cannot love yourself and hate all of the stories that made you who you are. It doesn't work that way. Sometimes the perspective shift is so one simple question that changes everything. 2) What if the things you have grown to resent, resist, and maybe even despise of yourself, are actually the things that you must learn to love, respect, and appreciate about yourself. This is such a powerful shift in our mindset. 3) This always takes me back to the Rebecca Campbell quote, "Bless the thing that cracked you open, because now more than ever, the world needs you open." This is the work that we do in Owning Your Story, and the result is a new level of healing, freedom, certainty, confidence, and purpose that is impossible to describe. 4) What is one thing you can look at in yourself, something that you once resented that you might be able to look at differently? S5 Ep 328Controlling the Controllable
In this episode, I am addressing the word control. Ugh, this word control ruled my life for years. I strived for control and perfection, so it is the default I go to on a regular basis. This is also a position that I hear so many of my clients drop into. This can be even further compounded when life feels chaotic, challenging or a lot of things happen outside of our control. It is a simple solution but definitely not always easy. In today's episode we discuss: 1) Control is an illusion, it is not real. It is a response that we use to feel "safe or at ease in our lives". It is the habit or practice of feeling like you can manage what is in front of us as well as it tends to be a response to trauma or chaos and the need to predict the next thing that could go wrong. 2) Control requires a ton of energy, and this is energy that could be used in actionable ways on a daily basis to move yourself forward in your own life. Be aware of the energy you are exerting and is it being used in the best possible way, because that is a limited resource that we can't get back. 3) Awareness is key. As soon as I feel myself falling back into old patterns I call myself out and say stop, this is not the way. The only person I can control is myself, that is it. My actions, reactions, choices etc. When I can't shift it myself I reach out and ask for support from others, especially people in my life who aren't afraid of calling me on my own BS. 4) Shifting the idea of control came from embodying my own choices in my own life, hence the name of this podcast. S5 Ep 326Celebrating 4 Years!
In this episode, I am celebrating and sharing that it has been 4 years since my 6x Bestselling Book Release, When She Stopped Asking Why. I am a completely different person since that book release and I am so grateful for this experience. I wanted to share some lessons that still ring true for me, some new lessons, the power of asking different questions, and how the dots always connect even when we don't think they ever will make sense. In today's episode we discuss: 1) I wrote my book to help myself to heal and to help others never feel that they are alone. When you write it with that intention, you learn to let go of what others might think. 2) I have let go of the needing to be the perfectionist, in fact, I have almost let go of her completely. 3) I am so grateful that I put my own healing ahead of building a business, we always go first. 4) We never know who will be impacted by our story. Someone somewhere is praying for the solutions we are holding onto. 5) This started the journey of helping other women learn how to share their stories, and this is truly a fire I love being a part of! 6) There is no easy way through doing the work. It is messy, hard, ugly, and through is the only way. 7) There are gifts in all of us and from all of our experiences. It is our choice whether we use them or not. 8) We can always choose our hard. Staying stuck is hard, and moving forward is hard, we get to choose which one we want. 9) Our stories happen to us for a reason, we choose to see the reason or we can ask different questions as to what is this teaching us. 10) Some of the most impactful people in our life, or the people we are meant to impact are people we haven't even met yet. They are waiting for us to go first. 11) If you are not in a place of believing in yourself, surround yourself with people with who you can borrow their belief and then know that you will pay it to forward to someone else one day. 12) We are always capable of more than we think. We are our biggest limitation. 13) The dots always connect somewhere, have faith that this dot today will connect to somewhere in your future. She is a Gemini/Capricorn/Leo combo and 6/2 Emotional Mani Gen that claims a serious addiction to sushi and hallmark movies. Lindsay is a "retired" Social Worker who began pursuing her soul's purpose after having experienced rock-bottom when she lost her job, and her relationship, and her sense of self. She is a 3x published author who is committed to sharing her story and inspiring others to speak their truth. It can all turn out better than you could have ever imagined. 2) The insight behind knowing and understanding your human design, and your gene keys to honour the calling you had even before you were born. 3) Living in constant anxiety and resistance to the way life is unfolding vs learning the lessons of surrender, trust, and healing. S5 Ep 322#322: How Bright is Your Light?
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts on shining your light. This is a common statement we hear, yet I think it is easily misunderstood. What if we can look at this light differently? Who in your life have you borrowed the light from before? How did it make an impact? How did it help you through a dark time? What if you could be that light for someone else? What if it makes the difference for someone else who feels stuck or trapped on their journey? Today I really wanted to honour everyone who's light helped me through a difficult time in my life. In today's episode we discuss: 1) The light actually isn't about you, it is about learning how to let it shine through you. When it shines through you, you light the way for others and you show others what is possible. It actually isn't about you, and what if you look at not shining your light as being selfish? How would that change your thinking? 2) What can happen when you show up in this light and what can you let go of? You learn how to let go of the judgements, opinions and criticisms of others, or at least they don't have the same weight. This only allows you to continue to shine, use your gifts and make the impact you are here to make. 3) What can you gain by shining your light? Confidence in yourself, your message, your purpose, and in your energy, commitment, trust and intuition. It is a win-win for everyone! S5 Ep 320#320: How Fast Do You Quit on Yourself?
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts on my reflection on how fast as humans, female entrepreneurs, or in our life that we quit on ourselves. We quit on ourselves before we give it a chance to live, grow, breathe and expand. We tend to quit when we are on the verge of massive growth. We quit when we are just about to explode to the next level because it feels so hard and heavy or maybe because we are so used to quitting on ourselves. I am sharing a personal example of what I learned over the past 2 months regarding my podcast, the changes, and how I was seconds away from quitting because it was just too hard. In today's episode we discuss: 1) Being on the very last stretch to reaching our goals and then we get frustrated and quit right at the last yard line. What if we are only 1-2 steps away from exploding our growth and creating results beyond our original goals. 2) These are two questions I use in reflection when I have to make a decision. I am continuously learning to make decisions faster instead of sitting in the energy of waiting or wasting energy. The second question I ask myself is does it bring me joy? Do I love doing this part of my business, is it in my wheelhouse etc. If I don't love it, then the answer is easy, it's a no. If I do love it then there's away and I will figure it out by not quitting. 3) Change the expectations and continue to see it through. It could turn out better than you could have imagined. This is the power of collapsing time in your growth and business. My first 10K downloads of my podcast took 9.5 months, the second 10K downloads took 6 months, the third 10K downloads took 4 months, and then my show went on a 6+ week hiatus because of technical issues, to the point where I almost threw in the towel. Then I decided on Oct 14th to move the podcast back to the original platform and as of Oct 25th, we are celebrating just under 11K downloads in 25 days. That is the power of collapsing time. And I am still celebrating every single aspect of this growth journey! S5 Ep 319#319: How Many Times Do You Hit Replay?
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts about what happens when we have doubt in ourselves and how we immediately hit the replay button looking at and replaying our "failures". Do we do the same and replay our wins? Maybe if we did we would see how much our biggest wins come right after our "failures", or as I like to call them, learned lessons. In today's episode we discuss: 1) The energy behind replaying scenarios, situations, circumstances and the label we give to what we experienced, the failure, the weight of it, and the meaning of it. 2) When we have moments of doubt, this becomes our default as our ego is looking for all the proof of the mistakes we have made. This replaying then keeps us in this cycle of doubt and then we replay it even more. We have to choose to break the pattern by starting with awareness. What if the question or mindset shifts to, "I am exactly where I am supposed to be, so what am I here to learn?" 3) What if you replay your wins with the same energy and intention and in the process actually celebrate all of the things you have overcome and learned? How would your outlook change? After discovering that the diet advice she'd learned as a dietitian was actually contributing to chronic diseases, Annette changed course to learn about functional nutrition and nutrigenomics (how nutrition impacts genetic expression). Now Annette helps women literally manipulate their genes, so they can say goodbye to infertility struggles and hello to being a mom! In this episode we discuss: 1) Annette shares how to restore their body to health so women can get pregnant without IVF. She provides a personalized health restoration plan based on DNA, lab work, health questionnaire, and 3-day food journal and coaching to stay on track. 2) She dives into all things vegetable oil products and their effects on our systems, as well as the power of iodine and salt in our diets. Annette is on a mission to teach others how to turn on the health and turn off disease. 3) As a Registered Dietician with 28 years of experience, Annette followed her gut and started to speak out against what she had been taught to teach others for years. S1 Ep 317#317: Sharing My Story Supported My Mental Health
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts on my reflection of sharing my story, mental health, and World Mental Health Day on October 10th, 2021. We say our mental health is very important, yet I truly believe that we are being called to rises up and support more humans especially this year. It's interesting because there's a larger divide than ever which leaves people feeling isolated and alone. I say this with love and want this to land, as someone who's been in the position of trying to save someone else, including herself, we cannot support anyone if we do not prioritize our own mental, physical and emotional well-being first. In today's episode we discuss: 1) Years ago a Counselor kindly told me that "if my kids decided to come back to us that we needed to be a springboard to be there to support them. And at that time we were a pile of quicksand." That message has forever hit home. 2) We must prioritize what we need on a daily basis to be the best version of ourselves and that target with the demands of our life is moving every single day. 3) If you are needing support, help, guidance, or anything, please don't be your own worst critic or judge yourself. Asking for help and being vulnerable are not signs of weakness, they are signs of strength. 4) Learning to share my story, opened up so many doors and opportunities that I couldn't see possible, and it helped me to heal and support my own mental health. #316: A Difficult Day For The Ego
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts from Robin Sharma's latest book, The Everyday Hero Manifesto. In one of the chapters, he spoke about what a difficult day for the ego looks like. Those are the days where we are full of doubt, unsure of our next steps, second-guessing everything, and how it seems easier to stay put where we are. A difficult day for our ego can truly be a beautiful day for our soul, who is literally waiting to soar and fly. In today's episode we discuss: 1) Our ego sits in comparison, and judgment, wants us to stay small and protected, and wants to block us from receiving support from others. This process also interferes with our feelings of worthiness, and that opens up so many other issues of worthiness in our life. 2) Our ego wants things to be perfect, it expects it, and ironically our imperfections are what make us human, allow us to connect with others, and build relationships with people who know, like, and trust us. The difficult day for our ego is truly a beautiful day for our soul who is truly trying to be heard. 3) "We are all in training for life, the more we sweat in training, the less we bleed in war." Robin Sharma. We are always a work in progress, and instead of meeting these days with resistance, what if we ask deeper questions about what are we here to learn, what is this teaching us, and what if the lessons we are learning today make us even better for the challenges or opportunities for tomorrow? S4 Ep 315#315: Born to Lose - Choosing to Win with O'Neil A Luscombe
#315: Born to Lose - Choosing to Win with ONeil A Luscombe Today we are speaking with the CEO of No Limits Training, O'Neil Luscombe. O'Neil is a husband and father of 2 boys aged 1 & 1 month. He's married to Annie and has been running his fitness coaching business since 2019. For the past 3 years, O'Neil has helped close to 1000 women get life-changing results without giving up family time or the foods they love. He is the only fitness coach that offers holistic nutritionist, fitness, mindset & lifestyle coaching all in one program. He helps women who have tried just about every diet out there lose 10-30lb in 16 weeks while still enjoying life. He specializes in anything from their gut health, nutrition, energy, time management, mental health, and looking great naked. His program was named "The last fitness program you will ever need" because of the jaw-dropping results he posts daily. Growing up in a women's shelter, raised by a single mother, He's living proof you can accomplish amazing things even when the odds are against you. He's the BEST at helping you become your best self and coming to the realization that yes.. You are worth it! In this episode we discuss: 1) We can be technically be born to lose, where it seems like everything is stacked up against us, but we can still choose how we show up every single day to create the life we are meant to live. 2) We all have the ability to be resilient with our lives and overcome our circumstances. That resiliency is also something we can choose to step into every day. O'Neil leaned into his resilient nature and habits especially when the pandemic hit last year and he had to shift his entire business to an online model. 3) We spoke about being accountable to ourselves, to coaches or mentors and how we all need the accountability to stay on track with our goals and how we choose to show up every day. 4) The simplest and most important values of happiness and being kind to each other and how this energy can create a ripple and impact someone else's life as well. S4 Ep 314#314: You Don't Have to Carry It To Care
In this episode, I am sharing a question that came up in our Radical Responsibility Mastermind call, and it was in line with the energy and stress of what a lot of us are experiencing in the world right now. It feels as though there is a massive division happening right now and I know the media and fear are not helping the situation. It doesn't matter what side of any topic you are on, we can all refocus and bring in more empathy, kindness, compassion and do this without carrying it all. It's a bit of a dance to figure out the balance of it all, yet it requires us to go internal, ask different questions, stick to our boundaries, and to make choices that we can rise above whatever our current circumstances are. In this episode, we discuss: 1) The difference between carrying something and caring. There is different energy with both and it's important to focus on how this energy is affecting us so we can make decisions about what needs to change. What is in your backpack? 2) Your reaction to a situation is a clue. If you are constantly in a state of reaction, instead of responding that is a sign that something is off. 3) How can you rise above what your current situation or circumstances are? What self-care and boundaries do you need in place to give back to yourself so you have a chance of responding differently? 4) The dots will always connect. The dots in our past all connect to where we are now, which also means that the dots will connect in our future too. This dot that you are currently standing in will connect to something in your future. Trust and lean into a faith that you are here to learn something at this moment in time. S4 Ep 313#313: How Are You Asking How?
In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts on the word "how", and it is really important in how it is used and how we can break the pattern in our use of it. Yes, I hear the irony in these words. This came up in a conversation with one of my mentors and I knew I was being called out. I had to share this lesson with you today. In today's episode we discuss:1) Entrepreneurship is one of the biggest learning curves I have ever been on. It is constantly reinventing yourself, change, pivot, taking inventory, listening, and deciding on the next course of action. We can be in a space of asking how as a victim, or how in an expansive manner. 2) I have had a couple of incredible opportunities come up, ones that excite me, are in alignment with my direction, and my first thoughts were "but how can I do it?" That is a limiting belief thought, and it also assumes that I am in control of the outcome, which I definitely am not. That is not my responsibility, it is my responsibility to own how I show up every single day. 3) Focus on intentions and not goals. Goals focus on the outcome, intentions focus on how we show up every day and that is within our control. What if it actually turns out better than we could have ever imagined? That is how I choose to ask the how questions, in a very open and expansive manner. S4 Ep 311#311: Raise Your Standards Not Your Expectations
#311: Raise Your Standards Not Your Expectations In this episode, I am sharing a lesson that I am learning on repeat in all areas of my life and business. There is a very specific distinction between standards and expectations. One is based on fact and one is based on fiction. I have always been one to set very high expectations for myself, and as a person who has always been driven and pushes towards goals, I am learning to let go of or shift the meaning of expectations. Over these past 19 months of continuing to build a business in these "post-pandemic" times, I've had to learn to understand what my standards were and to raise them accordingly. I promise I am always learning and always a work in progress. In this episode, we discuss: 1) A standard is a fact. It is a level of quality that is accepted by the norm. Standards are based on our current needs, what we are doing, the actions we are taking, and the environment that we are surrounding ourselves with. These are the standards we choose to live within our life. 2) An expectation is a strong belief that something is going to happen in the future. It is fictional and based on our internal beliefs of what we think we should be attaining. As soon as the word should is part of the sentence, seriously run. It is time to shift away from "should'ing" on ourselves. Expectations are based on beliefs, our willpower, our biased premonitions and tend to lead to anger, frustration, resentment, and disappointment. Our expectations don't always align with our personal needs. 3) In order to create change, we must focus on raising our standards. One example of standards is our environment and who we choose to surround ourselves with. As Jim Rohn said, "we are the sum of the 5 people we spend the most time with". If we want to create the change we must raise our standards of the people we choose to surround ourselves with. 4) As Lori Harder said, "our environment will always be stronger than our willpower". We must raise our standards for our environment as this will always take us further than expectations any day. 5) Looking at where we can raise our standards in our life in such areas as self-care, owning our choices, setting our sights on our new normal. We are not going back to normal, we are creating a new normal by raising our standards. S5 Ep 1#323: Learning to Bless the Things You Once Resented
S4 Ep 310#310: What Will They Say?
#310: What Will They Say? In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts on one of the most common questions I hear in my dm's or from my clients as they are trying to find their voice and there's this inherent fear of what will "they" say? We start with worrying about who "they" are, family, friends, relatives, co-workers, or even the strangers who show up in our lives to share their opinions and judgments with us. In today's episode we discuss:1) Entrepreneurship is one of the biggest learning curves I have ever been on. It requires radical responsibility, ownership, letting go of control, asking for and allowing myself to receive help, consistent self-care practices, implementing boundaries, and rinsing and repeating this process daily. 2) Everytime I think or a client asks me, "what will they think?", I stop and ask myself these questions. Who are they? Are they walking in my shoes, walking alongside me, in the arena or on the arena floor with me? If the answers are no, then I bless and release. A person's behaviour says more about them than me. 3) If my words are triggering people, then I own that and I am ok with that. Triggers show us wounds we need to heal, what our soul knows is possible, and it is the beginning of creating potential change in our life. Besides if the ideas tap us on the shoulder then they are for us, and it is our job to work through the limiting beliefs of knowing that we already have the skill set to bring our vision to life. S4 Ep 309#309: Savage Surrender with SaraMae Hollandsworth
#309: Savage Surrender with SaraMae Hollandsworth Today we are speaking with SaraMae Hollandsworth. SaraMae is a Wellness Executive + Entrepreneur, Physical + Spiritual Fitness Expert, Double Certified Health Coach & Personal Trainer, Speaker, Writer, and Athlete. SaraMae Hollandsworth had over 20 years of experience as a health and fitness expert and entrepreneur. She is a high-performance athlete and trainer who suffered a near-life-ending infection that landed her in life support and in a coma and ultimately caused her to have both legs amputated below the knees. Her story is one of rising from rock bottom and near-death to rebuild her life better, stronger, healthier, and happier than before. To repurpose her pain into power, purpose, and potential. She is committed to using her story to help others heal, thrive, and fulfill their God-given purpose. In this episode we discuss: 1) How we are co-creators and creators of our life and we can create change when we embody this thinking and perspective. Sitting and waiting for life to change on its own is literally giving away our power to our circumstances and taking ourselves out of the driver's seat from creating life-changing results. 2) The concept of "Savage Surrender", forgiveness, letting go, and what a spiritual awakening can actually look like. It isn't a beautiful or peaceful awakening. In fact, it can be a messy wake-up call full of loud, banging music and noises that are disruptive. Embracing all of it, especially the messy parts is the path to creating lasting change. 3) The concepts of healing generational trauma, how that work can be so heavy and challenging, yet some of us are called into this space because we are truly the ones to break that cycle. 4) The best is yet to come. When we stay in this headspace and energy we show up for our lives being in the driver's seat and open to receiving the messages meant for us, and anchor in the knowledge that we can create whatever we desire in our lives. S4 Ep 308#308: Moving From Blame to Ownership
#308: Moving From Blame to Ownership In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am talking about 2 words that have been very powerful on my journey….Ownership and Blame! These two words are complete opposites and when we focus our language, energy, and mindset on one, the other can't survive. When we focus on blame we are giving our power away and when we focus on ownership we are taking our power back. We get to choose which one we focus on and our focus can literally change the direction and progress we make in our lives! In this episode we talk about: Blaming others for our circumstances is literally giving our power away and it is stopping us from creating any change in our lives. The energy of blaming keeps us stuck and living as a victim and subconsciously keeps us in limbo that our life cannot change until XYZ changes. That could mean a lifetime of waiting and quite possibly NO change ever happening in our lives! Ownership is taking radical responsibility for yourself. That includes all of your choices, thoughts, actions, reactions, decisions, and how you respond to life around you. This is where your power is, is in full ownership! The reasons that we don't take ownership are fear of judgment of others, fear of criticism, etc. Literally, all the reasons are about things that you have zero control over! You are using that energy to control things you can't control instead of using it to control the things you can control, which is YOU! Your power is truly hidden in the stories that you are desperately trying to hide from the world. Our stories, our humanness is what connects all of us to each other. That is how we see that we are not alone, that we are truly more alike than different. Our mistakes and our lessons actually connect us to each other.Owning Your Story Program (revamped version starting in October)https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/SEZQcqh9?coupon_code=OYSPRESALE Blocks to Owning Your Story Quizhttps://www.marshavanw.com/story-blocks Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of "When She Stopped Asking Why". S4 Ep 307#307: Alignment & Connection is the Key to Your Purpose
#307: Alignment & Connection is the Key to Your Purpose Today we are speaking with Life and Business Mentor, Katrina Lelli. Katrina is a Life & Business Mentor where I help women align their life and business with their purpose through my signature F.U.N. process. I empower women through my own life experiences, over 10 years of personal development work, knowledge through coaching certifications, and simple tools to elevate their life, business, and relationships. I want women to know they are already equipped with everything they need and that are not alone in doing this thing called life.In this episode we discuss: 1) The importance of real connection vs surface-level connection and setting criteria for what we choose for our inner circle. In our inner circle, there is an equal exchange of energy and an open mindset with the focus on supporting each other and no room for comparison or competition. 2) We can break any cycle that we are willing to face, own, and do the work to change. We are all capable of breaking generational trauma cycles and some of us are in this position because it is our job to break the cycles so that we don't pass them down to the next generation. 3) Ownership and radical responsibility are the turning point to creating any change in our life, especially when it feels like it is virtually impossible. S4 Ep 306#306: Endless Possibilities with Sara Glendenning
#306: Endless Possibilities with Sara Glendenning Today we are talking with Entrepreneur Sara Glenndening. Sara is the founder of Sara Hope Podcast Productions, Host of Path to Me Podcast, and published author. After being diagnosed with a learning disability at a young age Sara was told that she would not graduate from high school. As a result, Sara began hiding from the world, afraid to show up as her true self. After looking deep within Sara has now overcome that fear and is now showing up unapologetically as herself. Her mission is to use her strengths to help others simplify their business through podcast support and systems. In this episode we discuss: 1) How once we commit to doing the work on ourselves that we never truly know how it will add up or when we will see the benefits of it, and at one point we will look back and see how it all has impacted us. 2) We always have a choice in the challenging moments to see that life is happening for us or setting us up to step into what we are truly capable of creating. 3) How Sara learned through her unexpected injury that she could shift into what was possible and through that process launched her podcast, learned the mistakes to avoid, and completely launched her podcast production company to support other entrepreneurs who have existing podcasts or are ready to launch their podcast with support. This is just the beginning of what "Wild Beautiful Dreams" will be creating.
