Pierre Novellie is a stand-up comedian and writer. He is co-host of The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio, and recent TV appearances include World’s Most Dangerous Roads (Dave), The Mash Report (BBC2), and Stand Up Central (Comedy Central). On the radio, Pierre has performed on The Now Show (Radio 4), hosts the BBC Sounds podcast series Obsessed With… SAS: Rogue Heroes and co-hosts the hit podcast Budpod with Phil Wang. Elliot Steel is a stand up comedian and comedy writer. Elliot is the son of Mark Steel, who’s also been guest on My Time Capsule! Professor Turi King is best known her work, “cracking one of the biggest forensic DNA cases in history”, leading the genetic analysis for the identification of King Richard III, whose remains were found under a carpark in Leicester. Turi presents, alongside Stacey Dooley, the BBC Two genealogy series, DNA Family Secrets. Turi has a PhD in Molecular Genetics on genetic genealogy. Her award-winning PhD examined the relationship between the Y chromosome and British surnames combining forensic DNA techniques with history and genealogy, the first large scale study of its kind. Named as one of the world’s ‘rockstar genealogists’, her work since has covered not only family history but the use of genetic genealogy in forensics and historical cases. Turi presents the BBC Radio 4 documentary "Genetics and the Longer arm of the Law”. She advises on numerous television programmes and provides genetic expertise to a number of famous crime writers, including Patricia Cornwell. Stuart Laws is a comedian, director, producer and writer and has supported James Acaster on his UK tours. He has two specials on NextUp Comedy and wrote the play “The Journey” that debuted at The Edinburgh Fringe in 2018. His 2019 Edinburgh show is now available as a comedy special on American label 800 Pound Gorilla. He runs his own production company Turtle Canyon Comedy and has produced and directed shows for Netflix, Prime, Channel 4, BBC, ITV and Sky. Jim Howick is best know for playing the Scout Master Ghost, Pat, in the BBC One sitcom Ghosts which he co-created and co-writes. The same team stared in the hugely popular kid’s show Horrible Histories, created the Sky1 comedy Yonderland and the film Bill, a comedy based loosely around the early life of William Shakespeare. Deirdre O’Kane is an Irish stand up comedian, actor and film maker. A household name in Ireland, she hosted her own primetime Saturday night talk show “Deirdre O’Kane Talks Funny” on RTÉ One, reached the final of Dancing with the Stars, she hosts the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards, is the voice of Gogglebox in Ireland, had her own standup comedy series “The Deirdre O’Kane Show” and appeared as a judge alongside Boy George, on the new talent show The Big Deal. She is a six-time Irish Film and Television Academy Awards nominee and won Best Lead Actress in 2015 for her role as Christina Noble opposite Brendan Coyle in Stephen Bradley’s feature Noble. Her other film credits include the BAFTA winning Festival for Channel 4, Intermission, Killing Bono and Dollhouse. On TV, Deirdre starred in the hit sitcom Younger, Paths to Freedom on RTÉ in which she played Brendan Coyle’s long-suffering wife Helen, The Clinic, Fergus’s Wedding, The Fitz, and Bittersweet. Stuart Goldsmith is an actor, stand-up comedian and former street performer. RIOPY is a French pianist and composer whose album Tree of Light reached No.1 on the US Billboard Classical Album chart and continued in the top 10 for 70 weeks. He features on Lana Del Rey’s latest album with a song she wrote over the track of one of RIOPY’s most popular compositions, Flo. RIOPY grew up in an oppressive religious cult, where contact with the outside world was forbidden and all music and television was banned. On a chance visit to a doctor, RIOPY found himself in a castle full of pianos, and discovered music as a way to soothe his anxieties and OCD. At the age of 18, RIOPY escaped the cult, and after a few short stints in Paris and LA (including short periods of homelessness), he found himself in the UK, in a music shop in Reading. A stranger heard him playing on one of the pianos, and helped him attain a scholarship at Oxford Brookes University. His career continued to grow, and in 2011 he was offered a high-profile performance opportunity for a Vanity Fair event. Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, was in attendance and bought RIOPY his first piano – a Steinway Grand. Anita Harris is a singer and actress who is one of the biggest stars of the 60s, 70s and 80s and is still performing today. Her huge hit song Just Loving You was suggested for Anita by Dusty Springfield and written by Dusty’s brother. As an actress she was in the film Carry On Doctor, Casualty, French and Saunders, Midsummer Murders and her own one-woman show. In the 1970’s she was the assistant to the TV magician David Nixon on his TV shows, as well as performing in the Royal Variety performance and having her own This Is Your Life. She was the Variety Club of Great Britain’s Cabaret Performer of the year in 1982 and played the part of Griselda in the west end production of Cats for two years. Sam Teskey is founding member of the Grammy nominated Australian blues and soul band, The Teskey Brothers, alongside his brother Josh. Eric Whitacre is a Grammy Award-winning composer and conductor. Eric’s debut album as a conductor, Light and Gold, went straight to the top of the charts, earning him a Grammy. His works are played worldwide and his ground-breaking Virtual Choirs have united 100,000 singers from more than 145 countries over the last decade. Eric has worked with legendary Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer, co-composing the mermaids theme for the Pirates of the Caribbean and music for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Welsh actor Sian Reese-Williams is probably best known for playing Detective Inspector Cadi John in Hidden, a bilingual crime drama for BBC Wales and BBC Four which ran for three very successful series. She played the role of Gennie Walker in Emmerdale from 2008-13. In 2016, she featured in series 3 of the critically acclaimed Welsh crime drama Hinterland and in 2017, she starred in series 3 of the BAFTA award-winning 35 Diwrnod for S4C. Sian was nominated for Best newcomer at the Inside Soap awards and the National Television awards, and best actress at the British soap awards. Steve Steen is a comedian and actor best known for his appearances on Whose Line Is It Anyway and as a member of the world famous improvisational comedy group, The Comedy Store Players. He, for many years, worked with another of our guests, Jim Sweeney. They joined Oval House Theatre Club in 1972 where they first started doing improv together. By the 1980’s they were performing on TV in the ITV children’s show CBTV, in Little Armadillos, one of Channel 4’s first comedies and played Byron and Coleridge in Blackadder the Third. Steve also worked on Ben Elton’s comedy Happy Families and was the voice of the children’s cartoon gerbil, El Nombre. In the theatre, Steve has done three one man tours with adaptations of the works of Bill Bryson, a one man show about the American comedian, John Belushi.
