My Time Capsule

Will Eaves is a British writer, poet and professor at the University of Warwick. He began writing for the Times Literary Supplement in 1992 and joined the paper as its Arts Editor in 1995. He left in 2011 to become an Associate Professor in the Writing Programme at the University of Warwick. In 2020, he judged the Goldsmiths Prize and was a Visiting Research Fellow at Merton College, Oxford. In 2016, he was a Sassoon Visiting Fellow at the Bodleian Library. He has written five novels, two books of poetry, and one volume of literary essays. For for book Murmur, Eaves was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize and won the Wellcome Book Prize. He has given talks, seminars and readings around the world and has appeared several times on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb, with Ian Macmillan, and on BBC Radio 4’s Start the Week and Open Book. Chris Cantrill is a 3-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated comedian, writer and actor. The Times described him, as “one of the most charmingly, daftly funny comics on the scene right now”. Since making his television debut on Harry Hill’s Clubnite (Channel 4), Chris has become a regular on television and radio. He’s appeared in shows such as the BAFTA-winning Alma’s Not Normal (BBC 2), Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared (Channel 4) and Avoidance (BBC One). He’s also written for the likes of Dave, Channel 4, BBC Radio 2, Cbeebies and CBBC. Peter York is an author and broadcaster who came to fame writing the Sloane Ranger Handbook with Ann Barr. He was also the Style Editor of Harpers & Queen for 10 years and became a media commentator on English social trends and traits, regularly appearing on television. Peter wrote Peter York's Eighties (1996), this time co-authored with Charles Jennings, which was both a book and a BBC television series. This was followed by Dictators' Homes (2005), which explored the interior design favoured by dictators as a reflection of their despotic characters. Recently Peter wrote the book, The War Against the BBC, about how an Unprecedented Combination of Hostile Forces Is Destroying Britain’s Greatest Cultural Institution... And Why People Should Care. Robin Morgan is a Welsh stand-up comedian, writer, presenter and actor. Robin has appeared on Mock The Week, The News Quiz, The Now Show and co-created Ellie Taylor’s Safe Space on BBC Radio 4. Gary Warren is a former child actor, best remembered for his role as Peter in the 1970 film The Railway Children. Now retired from acting Gary Warren also played Cedric Collingford in the 1970 TV series Catweazle and Taplow in Whack-O!, as well as starring as Alexander in his own TV sitcom Alexander the Greatest. In the West End, he played the nephew of Mame in the musical Mame starring Ginger Rogers. Gary has written a memoir of his acting years and his passion for music entitled If My Memoir Serves Me Well. Christian Brighty is an award-winning comedian, actor and writer who has his own BBC Radio 4 series “The Many Wrongs of Lord Christian Brighty”. Major-General Chapman joined the British Army in September 1980. He joined 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (2 PARA) and fought in the Falklands campaign, including the Battle of Goose Green. He stayed with 2 PARA until May 1985 which included his first Northern Ireland tour. In 1994 he returned to 2 PARA as a company commander for an 18 month operational tour in Belfast, prior to becoming 2IC 1 PARA and was promoted to Lt Col in March 1996. In July 1998 he became SO1 Operations in NI, and went on to command 2 PARA from August 1999-December 2001. His tour as CO included a NI reinforcement tour and the weapons collection mission (OP BESSEMER) in Macedonia. He was promoted to Colonel in December 2001 and appointed Colonel Military Operations 2 in the MoD (dealing with Counter Terrorism). As a Brigadier, he commanded 19 Mech Bde from 2003-2005, prior to becoming the last COS in NI (his fifth NI tour). He was Head of Counter Terrorism and UK Operations in the MoD from 2007-2010. In 2010, he became the Senior British Military Advisor to US Central Command. Archie Henderson is an award-winning writer, actor, musician, and creator of viral comedy character Jazz Emu, whose videos and songs have garnered over 50 million streams. He was named as the 26th out of 50 funniest comedians of the 21st Century by The Telegraph. Elvis McGonagall is a stand-up poet, comedian and broadcaster. Two series of his sitcom “Elvis McGonagall Takes A Look On The Bright Side” have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 where he appears regularly as well as popping up occasionally on the television. Elvis is the 2006 World Poetry Slam Champion, the compere of The Blue Suede Sporran Club and performs at literary and music festivals, comedy and cabaret clubs, pubs and dodgy dives up and down the country and abroad, including appearances at: Edinburgh Fringe and Glastonbury Festival where he was poet-in-residence in 2007. She’s had numerous appearances on television and her debut album “You Know What You Did” hit number one on the iTunes comedy charts. Garrett Millerick’s breakout television performance was on the hit US late-night talk show Conan. His live show Sunflower became one of the best reviewed and most talked about shows of 2018, both at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and subsequently at London’s Soho Theatre. The show was Time Out London’s No.1 Comedy Pick and saw Garrett receive a nomination for ‘Breakthrough Act’ at the 2019 Chortle Awards. Steve Bugeja is one of the circuit’s most exciting comedians. Steve hosted the BBC Radio 4 series Economics with Subtitles and has made numerous appearances on TV shows including The Russell Howard Hour (Sky One), Love Island: Aftersun (ITV2), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central) and Zoe Ball on Saturday (ITV1). Kim Leadbeater MBE has been a Labour MP since 2021. She is MP for Batley and Spen which is where her sister, Jo Cox, also sat until her tragic murder in June 2016. As of June 2023 she is chair of the all-party parliamentary groups on Sport and Tidy Britain, co-chair of the groups on Political Literacy and on Tackling Loneliness and Connected Communities. In 2020, she was appointed President of West Yorkshire Scouts. In 2018, Kim was awarded the UK's one thousandth Points of Light award by Prime Minister Theresa May for having "rejected the hate that marked her sister's murder to continue Jo's work and ensure that Jo's determination to change the world has lived on." In the 2021 New Year Honours, Kim was appointed MBE and The Spectator named her as 2021's "Newcomer of the Year". Dr Benji Waterhouse is a front-line NHS doctor specialising in psychiatry. He is also an award-winning stand-up comedian who performs sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival. Tom Baldwin is the former director of communications and strategy at the Labour Party and Keir Starmer’s official biographer. As a political journalist he was political editor of The Sunday Telegraph, assistant editor of The Times and The Times’ Washington bureau chief. In 2010, he was appointed as head of communications for the Labour Party and also worked as Senior Adviser to Ed Miliband. He ended this role after Labour's defeat in the 2015 general election. Dr Helen Fry has authored and edited over 25 books covering the social history of the Second World War, including British Intelligence and the secret war, espionage and spies, and MI9 escape and evasion. ​ She is the foremost authority on the 'secret listeners' who worked at special eavesdropping sites operated by British Intelligence during WWII. Her groundbreaking research and extensive media coverage have shed light on one of the greatest intelligence deceptions of the war: the bugging of Hitler’s generals at Trent Park in North London, and thousands of prisoners of war at Latimer House and Wilton Park in Buckinghamshire. ​ Helen is the official biographer of MI6 spymaster, Colonel Thomas Joseph Kendrick. She has also extensively written about the 10,000 Germans who fought for Britain during WWII. ​Helen has appeared in a number of documentaries, including David Jason’s Secret Service (Channel 5), Spying on Hitler's Army (Channel 4), and Secrets of the Spies (Britbox). Toby Hadoke is an actor, writer, podcaster and award winning comedian. He is the host of a weekly comedy night in Manchester at XS Malarkey Comedy Club and presents a monthly new material night at the 53Two theatre with comedians such as Sarah Millican, Justin Moorhouse, and Gary Delaney. Toby is a regular presenter of the 7th Dimension on BBC Radio 4 Extra and a walking encyclopaedia of Doctor Who, hence his podcast all about Doctor Who, Toby Hadoke’s Time Travels.
