EDavid Earl is an actor and comedian famous for his brilliant comedy character, Brian Gittens, which he plays in several Ricky Gervais projects; Derek, Extras, the film Cemetery Junction and the world wide Netflix smash hit, After Life. Ep. 265 - Steve Steen
ESteve Steen is a comedian and actor best known for his appearances on Whose Line Is It Anyway and as a member of the world famous improvisational comedy group, The Comedy Store Players. He, for many years, worked with another of our guests, Jim Sweeney. They joined Oval House Theatre Club in 1972 where they first started doing improv together. By the 1980’s they were performing on TV in the ITV children’s show CBTV, in Little Armadillos, one of Channel 4’s first comedies and played Byron and Coleridge in Blackadder the Third. Steve also worked on Ben Elton’s comedy Happy Families and was the voice of the children’s cartoon gerbil, El Nombre. In the theatre, Steve has done three one man tours with adaptations of the works of Bill Bryson, a one man show about the American comedian, John Belushi. Ep. 259 - Tommy Cannon
ETommy Cannon was one half of the legendary comic double act, Cannon and Ball, until his friend and partner, Bobby Ball’s sad death in 2020. Cannon and Ball’s prime time Saturday night television series, the Cannon and Ball Show, was one of ITV’s most successful series, it ran for twelve years with audiences often as high as twenty million viewers. They even made their own film, The Boys In Blue, in 1982. Tommy and Bobby went on to make their own games show, appeared in the fifth series of I’m a Celebrity, Shooting Stars with Bob Mortimer and Vic Reeves, Last of the Summer Wine, on the Kenny Everett Television Show, and appeared together in a Christmas Special of Lee Mack’s BBC comedy, Not Going Out. Tommy has also played a regular character in the ITV soap, Emmerdale. Ep. 257 - Ronnie Golden
ERonnie Golden is a musician, composer, and stand up comedian. Ronnie started as a teenage guitarist, opening shows for Tom Jones, Scott Walker and Engelbert Humperdinck. He worked with David Bowie in his Beckenham Arts Lab days then went on to form the cult new wave group, Fabulous Poodles who outsold both The Clash and The Jam in America in the early 80’s. After that he was doing stand-up as a member of the Comic Strip with regulars Rik Mayall, Ben Elton, French and Saunders and Alexei Sayle. He was in the first series of BBC 2’s The Young Ones as Buddy Holly, hanging from the ceiling in his parachute. His voice was regularly heard on Spitting Image as Roger Daltry, Mick Jagger and many more. His comedy double act with his friend Barry Cryer yielded several successful Edinburgh shows and a live cd, Rock ‘N’ Droll. Ep. 234 - Gary Sinyor
EGary Sinyor is an award winning film-maker. His first feature film, Leon the Pig Farmer, won numerous awards, including the International Critics Prize at the Venice Film Festival, the London Critics Circle and Evening Standard Awards and the Chaplin Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival. His next 2 British films were Solitaire for 2 and Stiff Upper Lips before moving to the US to direct The Bachelor with Chris O'Donnell and Renée Zellweger. He subsequently returned to the UK and set up Magnet Films with Sir David Frost. After making family comedy Bob The Butler with Tom Greene and Brooke Shields, he made In Your Dreams with Dexter Fletcher and Linda Hamilton. He trained at the National Film and TV School and graduated with BAFTA nominated short The Unkindest Cut. His latest work is the sitcom Hapless on Netflix. Series 1 is available now and Series 2 was shot in 2022 starring Tim Downie, Jeany Spark, Sally Philips, Ronni Ancona, Josh Howie and our very own Mike Fenton Stevens.
