Is it using wisdom to keep the covenant with the Most High Elohim? Does it take knowledge and understanding? From Proverbs chapter 2, Rabbi Steve Berkson shows how wisdom, knowledge and understanding relate and are connected to keeping covenant with the Almighty. Is there an active role in this covenant that people are expected to perform?Ever wonder why some things are repeated over and over again in scripture?Fill in the blank: In the _______ you’ll get the understanding. Are you seeing stability in the Body with everyone thinking the Holy Spirit leads them all individually? If one is considered “blameless”, what does that mean? What is “situational awareness”? In this teaching Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us into the book of Proverbs to discover the connection between wisdom, knowledge and understanding and covenant-keeping.What is “understanding the words of understanding”?Do you need a teacher for understanding Torah? Are you going beyond the mechanics of keeping Torah and into the discipline of keeping Torah? What is “ear-tickling”? Continuing the thought, The Role and Effect of Remembering What Yah Has Done on Keeping Covenant, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to more examples from scripture.Going through a quick recap of last week’s teaching from Psalm 106:How are we to approach Elohim Most High? How does Yah consider the way we treat earthly leadership? What is one of the roles of leadership?Continuing in Psalm 106:What is the dangerous mindset when reading scripture? How can mainstream Christianity say that the law (Torah) was done away with when we see in scripture that we provoke or please Elohim by our deeds/works/actions?Should we have any interaction with the World? To what degree? What does “tickle the ears” mean? The psalmist said, “He remembered His covenant…”–what covenant is El remembering? Abrahamic or Sinai? Then Rabbi Steve wraps up this teaching by taking us to Psalm 111. There the psalmist says the works of Yah are righteous and those who love them search for them.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlMaking Decisions…the reason you existINfocus: The OpportunistCC101: What Are You Thinking?CC101: Are You Saved? The Fear of YahwehDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 17
Psalm 105:4 tells us to “seek His face always”. How do we “seek His face”?What is the Relational Framework? In what forms do we see and experience this currently? There are some who teach that there was a problem with the old covenant and a new and improved covenant had to be created. Is that true? If the scriptures say that the covenant is perfect, what was the problem with the covenant? What is not remembering the wonders Yah has done linked to? What does it lead to?Rabbi Steve takes us into Psalm 105 where we are reminded of some of the wonders that Yah performed when he brought his people, Israel, out of Egypt and how that affects our keeping covenant today.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtml- Making Decisions…the reason you existDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 16
What should you be thinking about as you read through the Bible? What is the “beautiful thing” that you see in scripture?Finish this statement, “Come as you are, …” How does change happen? What is the one thing you should do when approaching the Creator in prayer? What is the whole point of the Covenant? Psalm 105:1 says to “make known His deeds among the peoples.” How do we do that? Is that an opportunity for personal evangelism, i.e., knocking on doors, etc.?Continuing in Psalms Rabbi Steve Berkson shows the role and effect of remembering what Yah has done as to how they pertain to keeping covenant with him. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 15
Rabbi Steve Berkson desires that you embrace the understanding that it’s all about your heart when it comes to keeping covenant with your Creator. It has to be in your heart to fear him, guard and do all of His commandments, to love Him and to serve Yahweh your Elohim. This episode focuses on believing, trusting and counting on what Yahweh has said He will do. The Psalms help us by reminding us of all Yahweh has done and that He is trustworthy to accomplish all that He has promised His people down through time to this day.Related Teachings can be found here, mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtml• Love & Torah • The Heart of the Matter• The Fear of Yahweh• The Search for the Doctrine of Grace• Let Me Not Be Ashamed• INFOCUS: Ask for the Old Paths• INFOCUS: The Needs/Wants DisconnectDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 14
In 1 Chronicles 16 we see within a song of praise that went up in thanksgiving there is a “covenantal-mindset”. What is that “covenantal-mindset”? What happened to Israel when the “covenantal-mindset” faded away?1 Chronicles 16:22 is the statement, “Do not touch my anointed ones, and do My prophets no evil.” What does this mean? Could you be accused of having done this? What does it mean to be a Light to this World? To whom were the prophets typically sent? How do you see that being abused today?Continuing with, “The Role and Effect of Leadership on Covenant Keeping”, Rabbi Steve Berkson wants you to embrace two things; 1) that it is your responsibility to find good leadership, anointed and appointed leadership, and, 2) put yourself under and be submissive to that authority. The reason for this is that in the scriptures we see the leadership, whether a prophet or a sovereign, being the one given the greater vision for the people. Also, the leadership are those who set the expectation and standard as to the commitment of the people to hold fast to the Covenant.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtml• Learn & Teach the Torah• Time to Re-dedicate YourselfDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 13
Continuing with, “The Role and Effect of Leadership on Covenant Keeping”, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us on a journey through the books of 1 & 2 Kings where he shows us examples in King Solomon and the Northern Kingdom of Israel of what happens when those in leadership cause real problems for those for whom they are responsible by not upholding their side of the Covenant. What is the key element of the relationship between the Creator and His people? How does a man with a wife who is not covenanted run his household according to the Covenant? How does a woman who is the wife of a man who is not covenanted deal with her husband while not breaking covenant with her Elohim? What is the punishment for being contrary to your Elohim? What was the main reason the Northern Kingdom of Israel was thrown out of the Land? Are you allowing non-Covenanted teachers to have influence and authority in your life? This may be the strongest teaching of the series yet.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtml- The Heart of the Matter- Beware False Prophets- The Search for the Doctrine of Grace- The Fear of YahwehDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 12
Is sin and transgressing the Covenant two different things or the same? What is the definition of sin? What does Joshua 7:9 show us in regards to what Elohim thinks about sin and His Covenant. What is it that the “World” will not allow you to do?Rabbi Steve Berkson then moves us to Joshua chapter 23 to continue with the thought, “The Role and Effect of Leadership on Covenant Keeping.”When a group needs direction to go forward, who is it that receives the vision for direction? What happens when there’s more than one vision within a group? Why did Joshua have to remind the people that they were in covenant with their Creator? How does being “unequally yoked” (2 Cori 6:14) affect your Covenant keeping? From the book of Joshua we move to the next book, Judges, to see that Israel still doesn’t have it in their heart, to love Elohim, to abide by the Covenant with Him and is told that they will be tested by the nations that they did not remove. How were they tested?Another excellent teaching by Rabbi Steve as he brings us deeper into the understanding of Covenant-keeping. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 11
Rabbi Steve Berkson subtitles this teaching, “The Role and Effect of Leadership in Covenant Keeping.”He starts by taking us to Deuteronomy 31 to show how that after the Covenant had been established the people did well with keeping it sometimes and not so well at other times. The role of the leadership and the way the people interacted with the leadership has a direct connection with the fledgling nation’s ability to uphold their part of the Creator’s Covenant.Who was the “leadership” in the time of Mosheh (Moses)? Who had the “burden” of physically bearing the Covenant? Could there be a deeper significance to this “burden”?Moving from the book of Deuteronomy, Rabbi Steve Berkson shows us from the passage of Joshua 3:1-4 how important it is for us to “keep our distance.” Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtml• Making Decisions…the reason you exist• What is Worship?• The Heart of the MatterDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 10
What is the definition of evil?Is keeping the Covenant really that big of a deal? Hasn’t it been “done away with” because of the Messiah?Who are the teachers today? What is the leadership structure today? Isn’t it now all about the “Holy Spirit”?What is the “essence” of all covenants?Digging deeper into what it means to be in covenant, Rabbi Steve Berkson continues to uncover exciting treasures that have been obscured by the erroneous teaching of a system that uses the word covenant, but really has no clue as to what being in covenant means. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 9
Continuing in Deuteronomy, Rabbi Steve Berkson shows us how to recognize certain words and phrases continuously linked to help you understand what they’re about. What do you suppose is the phrase that links to the Covenant? As we look at a “covenant within the Covenant” made with the tribe of Levi we see that one of the responsibilities of the Levites was to bear the Covenant (Ark of the Covenant) and to establish the Torah as the foundation of Israel. Who has that responsibility today? As a part of Covenant-Keeping we are told by Yahweh not to worship Him in the same way the Gentiles around us worship their Elohim. What do you see around you today that is going against that commandment?Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Fear of YahwehDo Not Do As They DoDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 8
As he said he would, Rabbi Steve Berkson spends a bit more time teaching on Deuteronomy 4:9. He points out the emphasis placed on the exhortation to “guard yourself” lest you forget the words your eyes have seen. How does one “see the words”?The second part of Deu 4:9 instructs the reader to make those words known to your children and grandchildren. How do we do that today? Are you having trouble in your Torah observance? Rabbi Steve tells you what the number one cause.Deu 4:16-19 talks about guarding yourself so that you don’t create idols for yourself. What is this talking about? Is it wrong to have collectibles? Is it wrong for someone who likes hunting to use decoys or put trophies on the wall? Then comes MTOI’s favorite chapter, Deuteronomy 8! Here, Rabbi Steve addresses the question of some, “How much of the law and commandments are we really supposed to obey?” (Hint: verse1 and 3 hold the key)Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Fear of YahwehBaptism of FireDo You Know the Father and the Son?The Heart of the MatterRepentanceThe Millennium and The KingdomDon't miss out on new teachings every week. What is discipleship about? What does it look like in your life? How does it relate to being in covenant? What are you willing or not willing to do as a disciple?Continuing the topic of the “Covenant of Salt”, Rabbi Steve Berkson teaches vital principles about discipleship and how Yeshua ties being his disciple with the “Covenant of Salt”.Then, moving to Deuteronomy 4 Rabbi Steve shows us that at a point in time Abba showed us The Covenant, taught it to us through his appointed-anointed and let us know that we are not to add to or take away from it.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlINfocus: The Girdle (Jeremiah 13)The Search for the Doctrine of GraceCling, Cleave, Hold FastDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Does it still apply to us today? What are the challenges to understanding the Bible? How do “The Beatitudes” go hand-in-hand with the “Covenant of Salt” and being in covenant with The Creator? In this episode, Rabbi Steve Berkson answers these vital questions as he continues the series, and the main question, “Are You Covenanted?”.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. A covenant made between two parties has certain expectations of performance. When those expectations are not met the covenant has been broken or breached. When a covenant has been broken there will then be another expectation–consequences. In this lesson of “Are You Covenanted?”, Rabbi Steve Berkson focuses on the consequences of us breaking our covenant we have made with our Creator.Related Teachings can be found here, mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: ShabbatINFOCUS: Are You Correctable?INFOCUS: That’s Not Submission!Don't miss out on new teachings every week. What if there are more than one covenant in play, with some overlapping others, that we need to understand and be concerned about? In part 2 of this teaching on covenants, Rabbi Steve Berkson gets into more detail about Yahweh’s covenant with Noah, Abraham and Isaac. Are all covenants the same? How is a “promise” different than a “covenant”?What does the word “perfect” or “blameless” mean? (Gen 17:1)What does it mean to be “of the seed of Abraham”?Circumcision is not for today, is it? Covenant Community 101: Are You Covenanted? Part 1
Now that you’ve learned about the relationship between salvation, faith and works, and that “saved” is not a status in the “Are You Saved” series, it makes sense to learn about the one thing that could be considered a status worth bearing–being “in covenant” or “covenanted”.In this series Rabbi Steve Berkson begins to define “covenant” as seen throughout scripture; covenants between persons and covenants between Elohim and mankind. Sometimes Yahweh makes a covenant with himself. Other times in scripture we see Yahweh making a covenant with His creation. When was the first covenant established? What’s the difference between a promise and a covenant? How is being covenanted going to affect your life? Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 17
If we already “possess” everlasting life, why are we instructed by Messiah Yeshua in John chapter 6 not to labor for the bread that perishes but rather for the bread that is remaining unto everlasting life which the Son of Adam gives? What is that “bread” referring to? How do men get this concept wrong? From there, Rabbi Steve takes us deeper into the Gospel of John, chapter 10 verse 24, where we see the followers/disciples of Messiah Yeshua referred to as sheep. Who are his sheep? Who are not his sheep? What does it mean to be considered his sheep. What is the heavenly hierarchy? From there Rabbi Steve moves us to 1 John chapter 5 and asks the question, what does it mean that we should possess the Son? (5:12)Then lastly Rabbi Steve takes us to 1 John chapter 2 where we see the importance of having a relationship with the Messiah. Do you, right now, have eternal life? Do you possess everlasting life as Messiah taught about in the Gospel of John chapter 3 verse 36?This week’s teaching from Rabbi Steve Berkson is on the topic, Possessing Everlasting Life. This is an important topic to clarify simply because most people are taught that salvation “equals” everlasting life…but, is that true?Rabbi Steve takes us into the Gospel of John chapter 5, with a brief moment in chapter 6 (by mistake…or was it?).Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: Discovering Your IdentityINFOCUS: What About Jewish Traditions?Well Done, Good and Trustworthy ServantThe Search for the Doctrine of GraceDo You Know the Father and the Son?What Did Yeshua Do?INFOCUS: Human[being]INFOCUS: Do Not Be Called RabbiDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Continuing in the book of Revelation, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us into chapter 3 where we find Messiah Yeshua continuing to give His praise and correction to the seven assemblies. In this teaching Rabbi Steve asks questions such as, “what does the word ‘complete’ mean?”, “Why does Messiah Yeshua refer to Himself as a thief?”, “What about this idea of being worthy?”, “What is meant by ‘white garments’?”When the text talks about “name”, what does that actually mean? Is it really a name?Who are the ones referred to as “the synagogue (or congregation) of satan”?All the way to the very end of Revelation, by what do we see that each of us will be rewarded or judged?Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlWell Done, Good and Trustworthy ServantTo He Who Overcomes INFOCUS: My Ox in the Ditch! Are You Listening?CC101: Endure & Receive the Crown of LifeBaptism of FireThe Millennium & The KingdomDon't miss out on new teachings every week. There is a particular blessing for those who read, hear and guard the words in book of Revelation. (Rev 1:3) Knowing this, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us this week into Revelation chapters 2 and 3 where we see the apostle John write messages to seven assemblies as dictated by Messiah Yeshua. What do these messages have to do with salvation, faith and works? What is the one statement that is consistently in the beginning of each message?Should we apply the meanings of these messages to our lives today? Continuing on the topic of “you’re going to be judged according to your works”, Rabbi Steve Berkson reviews and reiterates 1 Peter chapters 1 and 2, adding even more insight and revelation to the words of the apostle Peter (Kepha). If your relationship with your Creator is like a marriage, what do you expect from Him? What does He expect from you? What is “submissive obedience”?What were the futile behaviors of the fathers? What was at the beginning and will be at the end?As Rabbi Steve takes us into 1 Peter 2, he asks the question, what does it mean to be a newborn babe spiritually? Rabbi Steve Berkson continues teaching about the relationship between salvation, faith/belief and works/actions by taking us to the letter from Peter, an emissary/apostle of Messiah Yeshua, to the chosen, and dissects what he said about being born-again and living in obedience by the Ruach.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Search for the Doctrine of GraceInfocus: Picking on NicodemusBaptism of FireAre You Listening?Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Contrary to the vast majority of those who twist the writings (2 Peter 3:16) and teach that “works” are no longer important or necessary, Rabbi Steve Berkson brings us to the understanding of why “works” are important.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtml• The Millennium & The Kingdom• CC101: What are You Thinking?• Do You Know the Father and the Son?• Developing the Character of Yeshua• Yeshua, the Light of the World• Making Decisions…the reason you existDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 10
In part 9 of “Are You Saved?”, we read through James (Ya’akov) chapter 2 and now understand that faith/belief and works are intertwined so that one without the other cannot exist. In this lesson, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to the book of Hebrews, chapters 11 and 12 to show us proof by examples that “by belief/faith” those “heroes” that came before us were inspired by “salvation” to exemplify their belief/faith with their works. What is meant by “the substance of what is expected, and the proof of what is not seen”?How did Moses see Him who is invisible? (Heb 11:27)If our walk of faith is compared to a running a race to receive a prize, how does today’s society ruin that analogy? (Heb 12:1)How does the Father keep us on the right path?If “grace” is the “unmerited favor” of Elohim, how can one fall short of it?Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCling, Cleave, Hold FastCC101: Endure and Receive the Crown of LifeThe Search for the Doctrine of GraceDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 9
In Matthew 24:12 Yeshua taught that because of the increase in lawlessness, the love of many will become cold–what is the love that’s connected to the Law (Torah)? When Yeshua said, “But he who shall have endured to the end…”–what is meant by “to the end”?Moving from there to the parable of the talents, Matthew 25:13-29, Rabbi Steve Berkson explains the idea of possessing and not possessing, entering into the joy of the Master, and how critically connected these concepts are to salvation, belief and works.Rabbi Steve then takes us to the second chapter of James (Ya’akov) where we see a direct connection of belief in Messiah Yeshua to works. What is it that Ya’akov calls the “Law of freedom”?Does a person’s “belief” save them?In this teaching Rabbi Steve Berkson continues clarifying our understanding about the relationship between salvation, faith and works, with a subtopic of guarding the commands and possessing the Witness.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: Endure and Receive the Crown of LifeWell Done, Good and Trustworthy ServantThe Fear of YahwehDo You Know the Father and the Son?Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 8
Continuing from part 7, Rabbi Steve teaches further on the topic of guarding the Torah and possessing the Witness. As he takes us to Luke 10:25 we see once again Messiah Yeshua being tested by someone considered as “learned”. We also see here the word “inherit” being used regarding eternal life. What does this mean? How does it bring an critical understanding to being “saved”?In this passage we also see the question, “What must I do…”; how did Yeshua respond? Is salvation through Messiah the same as receiving eternal life?In Luke 8 we find the parable of the Seed and the Sower. Rabbi Steve takes us backwards through Yeshua’s explanation of this parable in order to understand it in a very unique way.If the “soil” is symbolic of the heart of a person, are people locked-in to the type of “soil” they find themselves to be, or can people choose the type of “soil” they would like to be? To what is the “fruit” referring? What is the key word most people overlook when reading about the “good soil”?In your excitement about discovering the truth of Torah, was your first reaction to run to tell your family and friends all about it? Rabbi Steve gives some crucial advice on how to avoid being blown out when starting your Torah-observant life.Rabbi Steve continues to unpack and expand through scripture the understanding of this vital topic of the relationship between salvation, faith/belief and works.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Heart of the MatterDo You Know the Father and the Son?CC101: Endure and Receive the Crown of LifeBaptism of FireNo Other NameCC101: Discovering Your IdentityDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 7
Messiah Yeshua said, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate…” (Luke 13:24) Does salvation and reward require effort? What is that effort? To where does the narrow gate lead? What does the saying mean, “Our righteousness is as filthy rags”?In Acts 16:30 someone asked, “What do I have to do to be saved?” How are we saved?Do we ‘need’ the writings of Paul, of Peter, or the other writers of the New Testament? Can a person lead another to the narrow path that leads to the Kingdom of Elohim without those writings? What should be the correct order of reading and better understanding the books of the New Testament? In Matthew 19:16-22 we see Yeshua telling a man to sell what they own and follow Him, but he went away sad because he had great possessions…what are you attached to that would keep you from wholly following the Messiah? Possessions? Family? Friends? Job? Career? What is it you love more than Him?Rabbi Steve Berkson continues to clarify the relationship between salvation, faith/belief and works. Shavuot: The Launching Point
“I think that we get so verse-focused that we are missing the application, walking-it-out part.”Rabbi Steve Berkson challenges our mindset this Shavuot 2018 about how we should be walking out our faith by taking a look at how the events of Mt. Sinai and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit of Acts 2 were major launching points toward breakthrough and moving forward.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlShavuot: From Sinai to the Upper RoomCC101: What Are You Thinking?Divorce, Remarriage & Putting AwayInfocus: The Fullness of the IntentDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 5
Rabbi Steve Berkson focuses on the topic of “Who Shall be Saved?”, as he takes us to the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 13. There we find the parable Yeshua taught about “The Wheat and the Tares” – which was meant to describe two types of people within the congregation of Elohim. How do we know today who is which? Does that responsibility rest on us? If Elohim knows about this (He does), why does He allow it? What will be done and when? By whom? From there Rabbi Steve moves to Paul’s letter written to those who were in Rome–those who’s eyes and ears were opened and whose hearts were ready to receive–those who should know better. In chapter 11 Paul begins by posing the question, “Has God rejected His people?” Rabbi Steve points out that even then people were consumed with “Who gets in and who doesn’t”. So much so that in chapter 11 we read Paul explaining the plan of Elohim through a metaphor using olive trees. What are the branches? What is the root? What is the real problem going on here? This teaching is loaded with what you need for your daily walk and to understand more deeply the love of the Father toward you.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Millennium & The KingdomINfocus: A Whole LumberyardCC101: Discovering Your IdentityThe Search for the Doctrine of GraceUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritDeveloping the Character of YeshuaDo You Know the Father and the Son?Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 4
Has the One who chose a group of people from among a group of people and set them apart unto Himself rejected those people? Has now another group of people replaced them? Weren’t there promises made according to The Covenant that was made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Wasn’t there an expectation by the chosen people that those promises were for them? What does the Prophet Ezekiel have to say about the chosen people? What are the “sticks and bones” in Ezekiel chapter 37 all about? What are the “graves”? How do they connect with something Yeshua Messiah said? What is “the stuff before the then”?Rabbi Steve Berkson unpacks all this and more here in part 4. He also reminds us that periodically we need to stop and evaluate where we are in our walk to determine if we’re on the right path or if we need to backup to where we made a wrong turn and get back into the right direction.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlBaptism of FireThe Millennium & The KingdomDo Not Do As They DoCC101: What Are You Thinking?Cling, Cleave, Hold FastThe Heart of the MatterDon't miss out on new teachings every week. What’s wrong with Christianity? Aren’t there “good people” there? Most of us who are now in the Messianic Torah Observant community came from Christianity. Wasn’t there anything good we learned from being there? Can’t we bring something over with us as we’ve transitioned to Torah observance? Didn’t we consider ourselves as “saved” while under that system? What deadly disease can the system of Christianity be compared to?Rabbi Steve Berkson brings extremely important answers and perspective to these and many other thoughts and questions regarding “come out of her my people”, as well as “get her out of you my people”.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlBeware False ProphetsDo You Know the Father and the Son? Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 2
After a quick review of part 1, Rabbi Steve Berkson continues exploring the doctrine of “once saved, always saved” and the relationship between salvation, faith and works. Rabbi Steve plays the little game called, “What if I had the power to live forever and could choose those with whom to live forever.”During the Pesach seder, the tradition of “The Four Cups” is performed–the four cups being Sanctification, Deliverance, Redemption and Acceptance, aka, “the “salvation process”. In this teaching Rabbi Steve focuses on the last three cups.Deliverance–deliverance from what? The Law? Which law? Redemption–what is redemption? Who was redeemed and who was the redeemer? Acceptance–where do we see an acceptance by The Creator of a people? What did that look like? How do you know if you’ve been accepted? Is there an expectation by anyone to do something?Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Search for the Doctrine of GraceDo You Know the Father and the Son?My Sheep Know My VoiceUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritINfocus: Leave Them AloneDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 12
Can the dead come to life today? Rabbi Steve Berkson kicks this teaching off by taking you to Ephesians 2 where the Apostle Paul writes about the dead coming to life. This is also found in Colossians 3 where it reads, “If, then, you were raised with Messiah…Do you know what things to do to please your spouse? Are you doing what is pleasing to The Creator, in the way He intended? Rabbi Steve takes you to Matthew 22 to begin to understand what you need to do in order to please Abba. We see Yeshua quoting the “v’ahavta”, Deuteronomy 6:5-9, saying that we should love Yahweh with all of our mind. Also as is written in Philippians 2:5 that you “let this mind be in you that was also in Messiah Yeshua.” The word ‘let’ indicates a personal responsibility to allow this to happen. In Romans 12 Rabbi Steve brings out that it is your “reasonable service” to renew your mind so that you will know how to please your Heavenly Father. Again, it is evident that it is your responsibility to do this as you are motivated by love–His for you and yours for Him.Yeshua said, “take my yoke upon you”, referring to His teaching and discipleship. Rabbi Steve takes you to Luke 24 to make the point of discipleship under an anointed and appointed teacher being crucial to learning the correct way of thinking about how you walk out your faith.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Fear of YahwehDo You Know the Father and the Son?To He Who OvercomesDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 11
Continuing the topic, “The Mind and Thinking of Man, and How It Relates to Authority”, Rabbi Steve Berkson once again redefines words and terms that have been lost to time and culture.Rabbi Steve takes us first to the Gospel of Matthew 16:21 where we see Yeshua telling His disciples how He would die and then be brought back to life. But Peter rebukes Him and Yeshua rebukes Peter back; was Peter demon-possessed?How is the thought process related to becoming an enemy of God?Continuing, Rabbi Steve takes us to Romans 8 where he unpacks the writing of Paul in a way you probably have not heard before. Which “law” is being talked about? Is it always referring to the Torah? What is meant by “Spirit”? Is it a wispy, smoke-like thing that enters a human?Find out which verse it is that is key to understanding that Yeshua Messiah died for the world.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritINfocus: The Three VoicesDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Continuing the topic, “The Mind and Thinking of Man, and How It Relates to Authority”, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to Luke 8:5-18 and the parable of the Sower and the Seed. We know that the “seed” is the Word of God and the “soil” is our heart. Rabbi Steve teaches us about the “soil/heart” and how it interacts with the “seed/Word of God”, and how the way we think has a huge part in that interaction. Rabbi Steve Berkson continues the topic, “The Mind and Thinking of Man, and How It Relates to Authority”. He begins by taking us to Matthew 10:34 with a warning, “Do not jump to conclusions!” Did Yeshua Messiah come to bring “peace”? Many believe that is true, but what does Yeshua’s own words say? What did He mean when he said your family would become your enemy? What is a “Delusion Bubble”? Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 8
Rabbi Steve Berkson continues the topic, “The mind and thinking of man, and how it relates to authority”. He begins in Matthew 3 where we see Yochanan (John), the immerser preaching and immersing the people. Rabbi Steve points out that it’s highly likely, Yochanan was the legitimate High Priest of his time, which is why the people were coming out to him.We see the religious rulers of that time coming out to see what’s going on and Yochanan calls them out, saying, “Do not think to say to yourselves…”. They thought they didn’t need what Yochanan was doing because of their genealogy, being descendants of Abraham, they were alright. It’s a “thinking process” for bad or for good.“We think, unfortunately, with our own agenda–we need to be thinking with His agenda–how do we take His agenda and turn it into actions, habits and Destiny?”“We live according to His Word because of our love for him, our trust in Him, belief in Him–knowing that what we do is going to bring the rewards He has promised us.”Rabbi Steve packs this teaching with concepts and principles that you can use right now in your walk.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: Discovering Your IdentityBaptism of FireUnderstanding the RuachCC101: Get Out the LeavenMaster, Teach Us to PrayForgivenessThe Pursuit of RighteousnessINfocus - The Fullness of the IntentDon't miss out on new teachings every week. In Genesis 6:5 we see that man’s thinking had devolved to “only evil continually” which caused the Creator to be grieved in His heart. What does this mean “grieved in His heart”? Yet, there was one man, Noach (Noah) whose was “a righteous man, perfect in his generations” – what is that all about? What was the reason Noach and his family were put on the ark and ultimately saved from the destruction of the Flood? In part 6 of What Are You Thinking Rabbi Steve Berkson helps us to explore “the mind and thinking of man and how it relates to authority”.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlWhose Eyes Are You Right In?Are You Saved?Do You Know the Father and the Son?Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 5
Rabbi Steve Berkson addresses the topic of “Yeshua knows our thoughts and our struggle with authority”. We begin with the event where Yeshua healed a person by simply saying “Your sins be forgiven you”, which caused an uproar with the religious leaders of the time, accusing Yeshua of blasphemy. They could not accept the authority of Yeshua as Messiah because of their predisposed thinking of who the Messiah should be. Yeshua didn’t fit their paradigm. What does “blasphemy” mean? Can just anyone commit “blasphemy”? What is meant by “the reign (kingdom) of Elohim (God) has come upon you”? Do you struggle with recognizing the authority of those you interact with? Have you found the teacher or leader who is meant for you? He may not be according to your paradigm, but this is the reason you are here–to figure out whose authority you are under, your’s?, haSatan’s?, Yahweh’s?.
