Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 6
What does the Hebrew name Yeshua mean? Why was Yeshua born into this world as the Messiah? In this teaching Rabbi Steve Berkson continues the topic on the relationship between salvation, faith/belief and works by looking at Yeshua as the Savior…the one who saves.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlDivorce, Remarriage and Putting AwayCovenant Community 101: Endure & Receive the Crown of LifeYeshua, the Light of the WorldDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Shavuot: The Launching Point
“I think that we get so verse-focused that we are missing the application, walking-it-out part.”Rabbi Steve Berkson challenges our mindset this Shavuot 2018 about how we should be walking out our faith by taking a look at how the events of Mt. Sinai and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit of Acts 2 were major launching points toward breakthrough and moving forward.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlShavuot: From Sinai to the Upper RoomCC101: What Are You Thinking?Divorce, Remarriage & Putting AwayInfocus: The Fullness of the IntentDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 5
Rabbi Steve Berkson focuses on the topic of “Who Shall be Saved?”, as he takes us to the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 13. There we find the parable Yeshua taught about “The Wheat and the Tares” – which was meant to describe two types of people within the congregation of Elohim. How do we know today who is which? Does that responsibility rest on us? If Elohim knows about this (He does), why does He allow it? What will be done and when? By whom? From there Rabbi Steve moves to Paul’s letter written to those who were in Rome–those who’s eyes and ears were opened and whose hearts were ready to receive–those who should know better. In chapter 11 Paul begins by posing the question, “Has God rejected His people?” Rabbi Steve points out that even then people were consumed with “Who gets in and who doesn’t”. So much so that in chapter 11 we read Paul explaining the plan of Elohim through a metaphor using olive trees. What are the branches? What is the root? What is the real problem going on here? This teaching is loaded with what you need for your daily walk and to understand more deeply the love of the Father toward you.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Millennium & The KingdomINfocus: A Whole LumberyardCC101: Discovering Your IdentityThe Search for the Doctrine of GraceUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritDeveloping the Character of YeshuaDo You Know the Father and the Son?Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 4
Has the One who chose a group of people from among a group of people and set them apart unto Himself rejected those people? Has now another group of people replaced them? Weren’t there promises made according to The Covenant that was made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Wasn’t there an expectation by the chosen people that those promises were for them? What does the Prophet Ezekiel have to say about the chosen people? What are the “sticks and bones” in Ezekiel chapter 37 all about? What are the “graves”? How do they connect with something Yeshua Messiah said? What is “the stuff before the then”?Rabbi Steve Berkson unpacks all this and more here in part 4. He also reminds us that periodically we need to stop and evaluate where we are in our walk to determine if we’re on the right path or if we need to backup to where we made a wrong turn and get back into the right direction.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlBaptism of FireThe Millennium & The KingdomDo Not Do As They DoCC101: What Are You Thinking?Cling, Cleave, Hold FastThe Heart of the MatterDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 3
What’s wrong with Christianity? Aren’t there “good people” there? Most of us who are now in the Messianic Torah Observant community came from Christianity. Wasn’t there anything good we learned from being there? Can’t we bring something over with us as we’ve transitioned to Torah observance? Didn’t we consider ourselves as “saved” while under that system? What deadly disease can the system of Christianity be compared to?Rabbi Steve Berkson brings extremely important answers and perspective to these and many other thoughts and questions regarding “come out of her my people”, as well as “get her out of you my people”.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlBeware False ProphetsDo You Know the Father and the Son? Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 2
After a quick review of part 1, Rabbi Steve Berkson continues exploring the doctrine of “once saved, always saved” and the relationship between salvation, faith and works. Rabbi Steve plays the little game called, “What if I had the power to live forever and could choose those with whom to live forever.”During the Pesach seder, the tradition of “The Four Cups” is performed–the four cups being Sanctification, Deliverance, Redemption and Acceptance, aka, “the “salvation process”. In this teaching Rabbi Steve focuses on the last three cups.Deliverance–deliverance from what? The Law? Which law? Redemption–what is redemption? Who was redeemed and who was the redeemer? Acceptance–where do we see an acceptance by The Creator of a people? What did that look like? How do you know if you’ve been accepted? Is there an expectation by anyone to do something?Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Search for the Doctrine of GraceDo You Know the Father and the Son?My Sheep Know My VoiceUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritINfocus: Leave Them AloneDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Are You Saved? Part 1
Do you really understand what it means to say “I’m saved!”? From what are you saved? How were you saved? When did this “salvation” happen? Now that you are “saved”, what more is there to do? Are you saved by “faith” or by “works”?Rabbi Steve Berkson addresses these questions and more as he begins this series that is crucial to having a solid foundation of your faith.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: Discovering Your IdentityMaking Decisions…the reason you existUp to the Challenge (Pesach/Unleavened Bread Feast 2018)Infocus: The Opportunist Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 12
Can the dead come to life today? Rabbi Steve Berkson kicks this teaching off by taking you to Ephesians 2 where the Apostle Paul writes about the dead coming to life. This is also found in Colossians 3 where it reads, “If, then, you were raised with Messiah…Do you know what things to do to please your spouse? Are you doing what is pleasing to The Creator, in the way He intended? Rabbi Steve takes you to Matthew 22 to begin to understand what you need to do in order to please Abba. We see Yeshua quoting the “v’ahavta”, Deuteronomy 6:5-9, saying that we should love Yahweh with all of our mind. Also as is written in Philippians 2:5 that you “let this mind be in you that was also in Messiah Yeshua.” The word ‘let’ indicates a personal responsibility to allow this to happen. In Romans 12 Rabbi Steve brings out that it is your “reasonable service” to renew your mind so that you will know how to please your Heavenly Father. Again, it is evident that it is your responsibility to do this as you are motivated by love–His for you and yours for Him.Yeshua said, “take my yoke upon you”, referring to His teaching and discipleship. Rabbi Steve takes you to Luke 24 to make the point of discipleship under an anointed and appointed teacher being crucial to learning the correct way of thinking about how you walk out your faith.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Fear of YahwehDo You Know the Father and the Son?To He Who OvercomesDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 11
Continuing the topic, “The Mind and Thinking of Man, and How It Relates to Authority”, Rabbi Steve Berkson once again redefines words and terms that have been lost to time and culture.Rabbi Steve takes us first to the Gospel of Matthew 16:21 where we see Yeshua telling His disciples how He would die and then be brought back to life. But Peter rebukes Him and Yeshua rebukes Peter back; was Peter demon-possessed?How is the thought process related to becoming an enemy of God?Continuing, Rabbi Steve takes us to Romans 8 where he unpacks the writing of Paul in a way you probably have not heard before. Which “law” is being talked about? Is it always referring to the Torah? What is meant by “Spirit”? Is it a wispy, smoke-like thing that enters a human?Find out which verse it is that is key to understanding that Yeshua Messiah died for the world.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritINfocus: The Three VoicesDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 10
Continuing the topic, “The Mind and Thinking of Man, and How It Relates to Authority”, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to Luke 8:5-18 and the parable of the Sower and the Seed. We know that the “seed” is the Word of God and the “soil” is our heart. Rabbi Steve teaches us about the “soil/heart” and how it interacts with the “seed/Word of God”, and how the way we think has a huge part in that interaction. Are you submissive to the authority of the Word of God?Why should you pay attention when the scriptures tell you to “take heed”?Does the Holy Spirit teach you directly without a person, or do we need teachers today? This and much more in this week’s teaching.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritTahor & Tamei: What State Are You In?Are You Saved?Baptism of FireCC101: Endure and Receive the Crown of LifeCC101: ShabbatDo You Know the Father and the Son?Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 9
Rabbi Steve Berkson continues the topic, “The Mind and Thinking of Man, and How It Relates to Authority”. He begins by taking us to Matthew 10:34 with a warning, “Do not jump to conclusions!” Did Yeshua Messiah come to bring “peace”? Many believe that is true, but what does Yeshua’s own words say? What did He mean when he said your family would become your enemy? What is a “Delusion Bubble”? Most people live in one, do you?How can “Binge Watching” teachings be harmful to your spiritual health? How does the teaching that the Law (Torah) has been done away with, destroy our physical world? There is more in this teaching than can be put into this description. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 8
Rabbi Steve Berkson continues the topic, “The mind and thinking of man, and how it relates to authority”. He begins in Matthew 3 where we see Yochanan (John), the immerser preaching and immersing the people. Rabbi Steve points out that it’s highly likely, Yochanan was the legitimate High Priest of his time, which is why the people were coming out to him.We see the religious rulers of that time coming out to see what’s going on and Yochanan calls them out, saying, “Do not think to say to yourselves…”. They thought they didn’t need what Yochanan was doing because of their genealogy, being descendants of Abraham, they were alright. It’s a “thinking process” for bad or for good.“We think, unfortunately, with our own agenda–we need to be thinking with His agenda–how do we take His agenda and turn it into actions, habits and Destiny?”“We live according to His Word because of our love for him, our trust in Him, belief in Him–knowing that what we do is going to bring the rewards He has promised us.”Rabbi Steve packs this teaching with concepts and principles that you can use right now in your walk.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: Discovering Your IdentityBaptism of FireUnderstanding the RuachCC101: Get Out the LeavenMaster, Teach Us to PrayForgivenessThe Pursuit of RighteousnessINfocus - The Fullness of the IntentDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 7
Here in part 7 Rabbi Steve Berkson continues the topic, “The mind and thinking of man, and how it relates (or doesn’t relate) to authority”.In this teaching you will discover those who are doing wrong, thinking they’re doing right, and not understanding why they have no peace. The admonition is to “think about what it is you’re thinking about!”How do the curses from Deuteronomy 28 strengthen our faith? What is an “Idea Evangelist”?Isaiah 59:16 speaks of an “intercessor”–to whom is this referring?Does Matthew 15 and Mark 7 say that Yeshua made all foods clean? Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 6
In Genesis 6:5 we see that man’s thinking had devolved to “only evil continually” which caused the Creator to be grieved in His heart. What does this mean “grieved in His heart”? Yet, there was one man, Noach (Noah) whose was “a righteous man, perfect in his generations” – what is that all about? What was the reason Noach and his family were put on the ark and ultimately saved from the destruction of the Flood? In part 6 of What Are You Thinking Rabbi Steve Berkson helps us to explore “the mind and thinking of man and how it relates to authority”.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlWhose Eyes Are You Right In?Are You Saved?Do You Know the Father and the Son?Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 5
Rabbi Steve Berkson addresses the topic of “Yeshua knows our thoughts and our struggle with authority”. We begin with the event where Yeshua healed a person by simply saying “Your sins be forgiven you”, which caused an uproar with the religious leaders of the time, accusing Yeshua of blasphemy. They could not accept the authority of Yeshua as Messiah because of their predisposed thinking of who the Messiah should be. Yeshua didn’t fit their paradigm. What does “blasphemy” mean? Can just anyone commit “blasphemy”? What is meant by “the reign (kingdom) of Elohim (God) has come upon you”? Do you struggle with recognizing the authority of those you interact with? Have you found the teacher or leader who is meant for you? He may not be according to your paradigm, but this is the reason you are here–to figure out whose authority you are under, your’s?, haSatan’s?, Yahweh’s?. Covenant Community 101: What Are You Thinking? - Part 4
Although Yahweh told a group of people that He chose them to be a select group for His purpose, there was a contingency attached, the “if/then” that we read about–“If you diligently obey my voice, then I will accept you as my people.” So, regardless of what is taught about Jesus did it all, did He really? Yeshua did what He had to do and none of what we need to do. We still have a responsibility to hear and do what we are commanded and walk before Him in humility. The Spirit of Yeshua, the Ruach haKodesh will help us with the desire and ability.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlDeveloping the Character of YeshuaLove & TorahMy Sheep Know My VoiceInfocus - Nothing Wrong with Tradition, UNLESS…Well Done, Good and Trustworthy ServantDon't miss out on new teachings every week. What is the purpose of the “correction of Yahweh”? What is “evil” according to scripture? What is meant by “their ear is uncircumcised”? Is the doctrine of dispensationalism correct? Continuing in the Book of Jeremiah the prophet, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to chapter 6 where he shows us the relationship of thinking and instruction. After a review of part 1 where we left off in Jeremiah 4:14 “O Yerushalayim, wash your heart from evil, and be saved. Till when would your wicked thoughts remain within you?” and Rabbi Steve Berkson explains that their thoughts led to actions that caused Babylon to come, he moves into Jeremiah 5 with the understanding that all that happening to people of Judah at that time was a result of “wrong thinking”.Now, to apply this to us today the question is asked, “Are you seeking THE TRUTH, or are you seeking to justify that your perception of truth is right?”Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlMaking Decisions…the reason you existBaptism of FireAre You Listening? The Fear of Yahweh Don't miss out on new teachings every week. How many times have you read the accounts detailed in scripture and said to yourself, “What were they thinking?” Even though hindsight is 20/20 and the examples can be seen in scripture, you could still be guilty of doing the same nonsense as they did. Covenant Community 101: Tithing: Appreciating Blessings - Part 3
Tithing is a part of the Restoration Process–of coming into observance of the Torah. Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us into the book of Nehemiah, chapters 9 and 10 to teach us that as we come into covenant with the Creator, become obedient to His Torah, which includes tithes and offerings, so that those who are ministering among us–teaching us, leading us, helping us to understand–should by our obedient giving be “strengthened in the Torah” and then we in turn the same. Then moving into Malachi chapter 3 we see Yahweh warning the priests, the Levites, about “robbing” Him concerning tithes and offerings and challenging them, and us, to prove Him to see if He will not open the windows of heaven and pour out more blessings than they can deal with–but they/we must turn from their ways and get back on the righteous path.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlThe Heart of the MatterWhose Eyes Are You Right In?The Search for the Doctrine of Grace Don't miss out on new teachings every week. What is “tithing”? What does the word ‘tithe’ even mean? What are we supposed to “tithe”? Who gets this “tithe”? Now, before you get the idea that this teaching is a covert fundraising effort, know that this teaching is for you, for your benefit, and for you to know that the Creator has your good in mind when he instructs you to give, what you should give and to whom you should give.Rabbi Steve Berkson exhorts us that all obedience brings blessing. When you are obedient in your giving practices–in the same way gravity works–blessings will come to you. Concluding this series, “Endure and Receive the Crown of Life”, Rabbi Steve Berkson brings verse after verse, multiple witnesses, the different authors all saying the same thing, that through suffering and enduring the trials that come along, holding fast to our faith, showing ourselves as trustworthy servants, we will receive the Crown of Life. Covenant Community 101: Endure and Receive the Crown of Life - Part 7 “Receiving The Crown”
Did you know that our faith walk has been compared to a sporting event? That one who would endeavor to win has to play by the “rules” or else be disqualified. What would you do to win the greatest prize ever offered? What is that prize? Rabbi Steve Berkson starts us in 1 Corinthians 9:24 where this comparison is made and to teach us about the incorruptible prize that can be ours.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlAre You Saved?Making Decisions…the reason you existUnderstanding the Ruach/SpiritBaptism of FireLet Me Not Be AshamedDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Endure and Receive the Crown of Life - Part 5 “Why Endure”
Why endure? One reason is that through the enduring process, you have the opportunity to walk as the Messiah Yeshua walked. Isn’t that something that is required of us? To continue showing us where endurance is talked about, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to Luke 21 where in verse 19 we see Yeshua telling His disciples that they will “possess your lives by your endurance!” Then Rabbi Steve moves into “how do we endure?” Taking us to Matthew 23 he explains the Parable of the Sower from the perspective of endurance. In this teaching Rabbi Steve begins the next section of James 1:12, ‘When He Has Been Proved’. Covenant Community 101: Endure and Receive the Crown of Life - Part 4 “Why Endure”
Continuing in the theme of “Why Endure?”, Rabbi Steve Berkson ponders if a human being can live without limitations. If we can do all things through Messiah who strengthens us, where are the limitations? Who imposed them?Rabbi Steve takes us first to James 5 where we see the duty we have been given to “establish your heart” in order to patiently endure and wait for the plan of Yahweh to play out. In James 1 we see that the writer has completely lost his mind when he says to “count it all joy when you fall into various trials”. How can anyone do that? But going on he clarifies by saying that you should know that the proving of your belief works endurance. So, it is the trial that gives opportunity to show Yahweh where you stand, and endure even though you may be mistreated unfairly or unjustly.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: Discovering Your Identity Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Covenant Community 101: Endure and Receive the Crown of Life - Part 3 “Why Endure”
Yeshua said to his disciples, “But he who shall have endured to the end shall be saved.” What? So, saying the “sinner’s prayer” or taking the “Romans Road”, isn’t that how “salvation” is achieved? What does Yeshua mean by “endured to the end”? What end? Endure what?Rabbi Steve Berkson clarifies what it means to have endurance in regards to your faith.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlAre You Saved?Cling, Cleave, Hold FastLearn and Teach the Torah Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Are You Listening?
There is a day of judgment coming. Are you ready to stand before the Judge of all? According to what will you be judged? What are “the Books” that will be opened at the Judgment? What kind of people should we be knowing that this event is just ahead of us?Rabbi Steve Berkson asks the question, “Are You Listening?” He takes us to Deuteronomy chapter 4 to show the example of Moses exhorting the people just before they go into the Promised Land saying “And now, O Yisra’ĕl, listen to the laws and the right-rulings which I am teaching you to do, so that you live, and shall go in and possess the land which יהוה Elohim of your fathers is giving you.”Excerpt From: Copyright 2012 by ISR. “The Scriptures 1998.” iBooks. Covenant Community 101: Shabbat - Part 1 - What & Why
Do you know and understand Shabbat (Sabbath)? Does Shabbat really apply to the people of today? Is Shabbat just “that Jewish thing?” When the word ‘forever’ or ‘perpetual’ is attached to Shabbat, does it really mean to the end of time and beyond? Rabbi Steve Berkson wants to start this multi-part teaching about this most critical observance by helping you find your motivation for keeping the Shabbat. Without the proper understanding of why, just knowing the mechanics really won’t take you very far.Related Teachings can be found here, http://mtoi.org/learn_with_us/learn_with_us.shtmlCC101: Discovering Your IdentityInfocus - The Law of First MentionCC101: The Appointed Times of Yahweh Don't miss out on new teachings every week.
