Peace in a World Not His - Part 1

If you walk out Torah on some level, but still are afraid, if you panic or have anxiety, if you still worry or are depressed (not clinically), there’s something missing in your walk…what is it? Rabbi Steve Berkson brings into the spotlight how throughout our Bible we are encouraged to have peace. But how? Why do some of us find ourselves lacking peace? In John 14:27 Yeshua makes a statement of encouragement in where He’s says, “My peace I give you…” and “I do not give to you as the world gives.” How does He give His peace and how do we receive His peace? What does it mean to “stay in Me”?The phrase “peace from Elohim”, “peace from the Father”, or “peace in Messiah Yeshua”, shows up nineteen times in the Brit Hadasha. Rabbi Berkson wants to address the questions, how do we get it, what prevents us from having it, what disturbs it, and how do we lose our peace? Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Forgiveness, Resolution, Reconciliation & Restoration - Part Four

“What has been resolved has to be released.” In this the final episode of Forgiveness, Resolution, Reconciliation & Restoration, Rabbi Steve Berkson gives a more detailed review of everything that’s been taught up to this point. He then moves into consequences incurred and consequences removed. What’s the beauty of our relationship with our Creator? Rabbi Berkson takes us to 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 to find out. There we find the very well-known verse that starts with, “If my people who are called by my name…” In this passage we see all the processes of forgiveness, resolution, reconciliation and restoration.Does forgiveness necessarily remove consequences? What is it that the Creator is wanting from us as He forgives us? Who does he do all this for?Why should you be Torah-Observant? Because the path, the instructions for coming into right relationship with your Creator was given to Moshe (Moses), as the psalmist King David wrote in Psalm 103. If you have the proper fear or respect of Yah and His awesomeness, you will be given the desire to want a right relationship, aka, The Covenant, with Him. (see Deuteronomy 10:12-13)What does it mean to “pass over the transgression”? What is the Father’s approach to forgiveness that we should have? (Micah 7:18)In Jeremiah 31:31, with whom is the “new covenant” made? Has He rejected one group to accept another group? Has this prophecy already happened? When you accept and act on the forgiveness provided you through what Messiah Yeshua did, does this absolve you of sin past, present and future? Why? Why not?Finishing this teaching in the letter to the Colossians, Rabbi Berkson points out words such as expectation, worthy, fit… what do these crucial words have to do with the reward promised to us? Along with those words there are other words such as fruitful, empowered, delivered, redemption. Forgiveness, Resolution, Reconciliation & Restoration - Part Three

In this teaching Rabbi Steve Berkson focuses on what comes after forgiveness, which is what we are all seeking for when we get down on our knees before the Father after we’ve trespassed against Him. As he takes us to the first of the passages in this teaching, Luke 23:33, we see Messiah Yeshua as He is being crucified by the hands of the Romans crying out to His Father to forgive them…they don’t understand what they are doing. Can you do the same under much less circumstances? Can your unforgiveness cause someone to stumble? Rabbi Berkson takes us to Luke 17 to find out. Is the definition of the word ‘forgive’ in this passage clear? Could you actually forgive someone who comes to you and repents seven times in one day?How does faith (emunah) work together with forgiveness? Rabbi Berkson shows us how from the event in Matthew chapter nine. Then, in Acts 5:30 Rabbi Berkson points out through what the apostle Peter said, how the forgiveness and repentance given by Yah takes away the consequence for sin.In 2 Corinthians 5:16 Rabbi Berkson explains the apostle Paul’s thought of how we should now look on forgiveness from a covenantal perspective. How much value the Father places upon you that He would send envoys to you, to plead with you, in the effort to reconcile with you and to restore you to favor.Don’t miss this series of teachings on a subject that is so vital, yet so misunderstood.Related Teachings can be found here:• Repentance https://youtu.be/SFXaoqjCjO4Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Forgiveness, Resolution, Reconciliation & Restoration - Part Two

How important is forgiveness? Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to Matthew chapter six where he shows us the “model prayer” given by Yeshua when His disciples asked how they should pray.In the prayer, which is just an outline for how to pray, Yeshua hits the issue of forgiveness, from the vertical, the Father, and also on the horizontal, between ourselves. Are you willing to do for your brother or sister what you expect the Father to do for you? As He does, so should you. If you don’t, He won’t.What is the “negative emotional state”?Then Rabbi Berkson takes us to Matthew 18:21-22 to look at a parable Yeshua told to give an example of what it looks like to be forgiven and to forgive. First, Peter poses the question about how many times should someone forgive another. Yeshua’s response was a multiplication equation. What was the equation? What was the answer? Was the answer meant to actually be how many times we should forgive our brother/sister?Before the master in the parable forgave the debt of his servant, what happened first? What is it that Rabbi Berkson says we should never forget? How does it affect the way we treat others? (Deuteronomy 24:18)How can haSatan use your unforgiving attitude? What are the two things forgiveness does to thwart the adversary interfering in your life?Do you really understand what it means to “grieve the set-apart (holy) spirit of Elohim? (Ephesians 4:30) Rabbi Berkson makes the understanding so simple. Don’t miss it.What about being “sealed by the set-apart spirit of Elohim”? Darkness & Light - Part 15

As he begins the text for this teaching in 1 John 1:1, Rabbi Steve Berkson points out that the apostle John confirms all the scriptures that refer to Messiah Yeshua as the Word, and from the mouth of Yeshua as He refers to Himself as the Life, when he says he has looked upon and handled the Word of Life–he was there as the Messiah walked on this earth. As Rabbi Berkson points out, the apostle John emphasizes in the first part of his letter the vertical and horizontal relationships–with our Father and with each other. Note also how much he uses the light and darkness references–walking in the light means guarding His commands, or doing the truth.• What did Rabbi Steve mean when he talked about how Yeshua “took the bullet for us.”• How do we know that we know Him? (1 John 2:3)• Who was the “perfect disciple”? Hint: it wasn’t one of the twelve.• What is it that demonstrates our being one with Yeshua and the Father?• Can one say something that is a lie, but not be a liar?Once again, at the end of this series, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Related Teachings can be found here:• Are You Covenanted? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX_OEhd7K84LBs_jp6579C6U• Repentance https://youtu.be/SFXaoqjCjO4• The Heart of the Matter https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX_O_DuSxpxaOIPKqKENGP0s• Do You Know the Father and the Son? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX85eE0WcFyzM6xquyz7r_RC• Honor & Shame https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX-lexk1G6zrYxLqCMZv4Wzf• Understanding the Ruach/Spirit https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX_0Mi7M6VeNIqg8eu1f_QBm• INfocus: The Delusion Bubble https://youtu.be/cEgeS8NIBtM• The Millennium & the Kingdom https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX9UNbkpvbCaWQXijbyGCLVK• The Armor of Elohim https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX8dWvXnu5lScQDt1YW2soUBDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 14

“One thing that is vital, but missing in a lot of the teachings that you’ve learned from all of your life, is the strength of context.” –Rabbi Steve BerksonThe topic of this episode of Darkness & Light is, “being called out of darkness, into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9), one of the few real status changes–coming into Light beyond human comprehension. • How does one come out of darkness? How does one know if he/she is in the light?Beginning his text in 1 Peter 1:2, Rabbi Berkson stops to point out to whom the writer was addressing this letter, “those who are…set-apart (Holy) by the Spirit unto obedience…” Obedient to what? • If the Torah became no longer relevant at the time Yeshua Messiah was killed on a cross, as certain majority faith groups teach, then what is to be obeyed?Once again, redefining our lexicon, terms and words, Rabbi Berkson makes us look at the term ‘born again’ as the writer uses it to describe those who are walking toward the Kingdom with a “living expectation.”• What is Peter talking about when he uses the term ‘born again’? (1 Peter 1:3) Does he mean it in the same way as Yeshua did in His conversation with Nicodemus? (John 3)• What is the “living expectation”? (1 Peter 1:3)• What is the “inheritance incorruptible”? (1 Peter 1:4)• What is the condition that applies to the “protection of Elohim”? (1 Peter 1:5)• If I am living as a set-apart one, why am I “grieved by manifold trials”? (1 Peter 1:6-7)• Why would you receive praise, respect and honor from Messiah Yeshua? (1 Peter 1:7)• What if this life is all there is?You need to hear Rabbi Berkson as he uses his Gym Membership as an analogy to illustrate real belief.• Did he really say, salvation is nothing?• How does one set themselves apart in their behavior?Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 13

How does your behavior relate to Darkness and Light? This is the theme as Rabbi Steve Berkson takes you into 1 Peter chapter two, the letter from Peter to the “Strangers of the Dispersion.”• Who are these “Strangers of the Dispersion”? (1 Peter 1:1-2)• What did the apostle mean when he called them, “set apart by the Spirit unto obedience”, and “newborn babes”?• What is the “unadulterated milk of the Word by which we grow”? Does this imply that there is also “adulterated” milk of the Word that can stunt your growth?• What does it look like to become “as a newborn babe”?In 1 Peter 2:9-10, is the writer saying that we have already become these things? Rabbi Berkson clarifies this passage, because sadly, some readers could, and do, interpret it incorrectly.• Do you really, fully care what is acceptable to the Creator? (1 Peter 2:5)• How do the Gentiles come into the Covenant, into Light?Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 12

• Is there anything bad or wrong about eschatology or being concerned about the end time?• What does the concern about the end time have to do with darkness and light? As we read what the apostle Shaul, or Paul, wrote to the congregation of Messianic believers in his letter to the Thessalonians, in chapter five, Rabbi Steve Berkson points out that Shaul was doing some damage control regarding the erroneous teaching about the return of Messiah even back then. • What was the prayer Rabbi Berkson prayed when it came to teaching about the end time?• How does one “prepare” for the return of Messiah? As this teaching was done during the 2020 election year, Rabbi Berkson imparts wisdom about what our mindset should be toward our nation’s politics and Elohim’s role in them.• Does being drunk only pertain to alcohol? What does being sober look like?Moving on into Thessalonians chapter five, we read as the apostle gives direction as to how the believers should be living their lives as they look forward to Messiah’s return. Rabbi Berkson unpacks what ‘sober’ looks like, and what is meant by putting on the breastplate of belief and love, and the helmet of the expectation of deliverance. In verse 12-13, Shaul writes that he begs the believers to “know” those who labor among you and are over you in the Master and admonish you, and to hold them in the highest regard in love. Rabbi Berkson relates what it’s like to be one of those in leadership and then explains how you should treat those in leadership with whom you interact.• Should your relationship with leadership be based on someone else’s experience with that leadership?Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 11

In the 1970’s the singer Bob Dylan sang “you gotta serve somebody.” He pretty much echoed the words from the Bible which has the same message from cover to cover and it’s your choice as to whom you will serve. In this teaching, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to another of the apostle Paul’s writings, known as the Book of Colossians. Beginning in chapter one, Paul addresses his letter to the “set-apart ones”, and “true brothers in Messiah.” From that greeting Rabbi Berkson has the context for the instruction that follows and the key text that deals with Darkness & Light.• Is there a wrong way to seek the favor of Elohim?• What is it we are to be filled with and how are we to walk in this life?• Does darkness have authority in the earth?• How does Christianity use verses 12 and 13 to promote the idea of “once saved, always saved”?• What was the purpose of the blood of Messiah that we see in verse 20?• Do you know what a “Rap Sheet” is? Did you know that we all had one?• What was it in Colossians 2:14 that was nailed to the stake of Messiah? Is this verse misinterpreted by some?• Can you “sin” against another person?• What is the greatest, if not the only problem in the Bible?• How do you become an enemy of God?• Why is the word ‘if’ the most awful word to some people?• What is the correct interpretation of Colossians 2:16-17?Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 10

Continuing the theme of how Darkness and Light relate to the authority structure of the Body of Messiah, Rabbi Steve Berkson starts this episode in Ephesians chapter four. At the beginning of this chapter the apostle Paul calls himself a “prisoner of the Master.” Rabbi Berkson stops at this to slow down and look at why Paul would refer to himself in that way.In the same verse Paul uses the phrase, “to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called.” Rabbi Berkson points out that this could be unsettling to some in other “faith-based” groups who believe once saved-always saved, and that there’s nothing else to do or add to the “work of Messiah.” So, why is worthiness brought into the conversation here?Yahweh has a vision of how his creation should work. Paul understood this as he penned his letters to the assemblies and referred to himself as a “prisoner.” Rabbi Berkson goes into length and depth about the problem with how some groups have taken on Yah’s vision and either co-opted or usurped the vision. This is a topic you will not hear discussed anywhere else, but is extremely vital to the growth of the Body of Messiah.Rabbi Berkson takes this thought and transitions to the focus of this teaching, the “Five-Fold Ministry”–apostles (emissaries), prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers. He refers to these anointed/appointed representatives as “Guardians of the Vision” and goes into a bit of depth in describing the roles of each position.• What does “leading astray” mean? Rabbi Berkson explains what that can look like.Winding up this teaching, Rabbi Berkson speaks comfort and assurance to you regarding the hope, not a guarantee, in the salvation that is provided to you for the coming age.Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 9

What does it mean to be in darkness? How does one know if they are in light?Rabbi Steve Berkson continues in the topic of Darkness & Light and how it relates to submission; in darkness being under no authority or wrong authority, and in light being under Yah’s authority.First we are taken to the letter to the Romans, chapter 2, verse 17 as we see the apostle Paul call out his brothers for being hypocrites in their role as “guides to the blind” – the blind as in referring to darkness – and a light to those in darkness. • Why did Paul have to come down on his brothers in the Jewish faith? • What was it that made them out to be hypocrites according to Paul?In this section Rabbi Berkson unpacks the meaning of circumcision and uncircumcision as Paul uses those terms when referring to the different groups of people.• If Paul was against torah-observance, as some would say, why did he say what he did in Romans 2:27?• What is one thing that living out Torah does for others?Moving from there to another letter from Paul to his assembly in Corinth, Rabbi Berkson takes us into 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 to enlighten us about the “Great Masquerade”.• Does Satan have horns, pointy tail and a pitch fork? What form can he take?• What if Satan’s workers actually did do wonders? Would you be deceived?Rabbi Berkson then leads us into Ephesians 5 to help us understand what it takes to become “imitators of Elohim”.• How can you be an imitator of someone who is no longer physically present?• To what is love always connected?• Why did Paul say that certain bad behaviors would keep them from the inheritance of the reign (kingdom) of Messiah? Weren’t the Ephesian’s “saved”? Who was Paul talking about?• What are the “empty words”? To where can they lead?Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Related Teachings can be found here:• Beware False Prophets https://youtu.be/h3k6TXmzRe4• My Sheep Know My Voice https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX_0hV4gKuq9Zwr2_aLd3J-M• What Did Yeshua Do? https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/steveberkson/episodes/2012-05-14T13_57_36-07_00• Love and Torah https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/steveberkson/episodes/2012-04-22T19_46_29-07_00• Are You Saved? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX-XDS4JdFkY0WuOGluQm7_Y• INFOCUS: Put the Mic Down https://youtu.be/QTH6Vc2ssqQDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 8

In this episode of Darkness & Light, Rabbi Steve Berkson continues in the Gospel of John, the twelfth chapter, where “certain Greeks” wanted to see Yeshua.• Who were these “Greeks”? What did they want with Yeshua? From this event Rabbi Berkson makes the point that Messiah Yeshua was beginning to draw those of the nations (Gentiles) to Himself, fulfilling the purpose for which He was sent.• In what way do we serve Messiah Yeshua, according to Him?• Do you love your life in this world more than wholly following Yeshua?Yeshua also made the statement, “the ruler of this world shall be cast out.” • Who is “the ruler of this world”?• Who needs to be dethroned and cast out?• If Yeshua is Messiah, why did He have to die? Who is this “Son of Adam” Yeshua referred to Himself as?• If one rejects Messiah Yeshua and does not receive His words, what will judge him/her in the last day? What are His words? Then, Rabbi Steve takes us to the apostle Paul’s testimony of his journey from darkness into light in Acts chapter 26. In verse 18 Paul quotes the Prophet Isaiah in telling King Agrippa about the commission he has received from the master Yeshua. Rabbi Steve points out something very interesting regarding Paul and something he said about works worthy of repentance.Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 7

As he starts this episode in the Gospel of John chapter 1, verse 1, Rabbi Steve Berkson enlightens us with an interesting observation about Messiah Yeshua and the relationship that he has with his Father. This observation flies in the face of any other doctrine that is out there regarding “oneness”, or the “Trinity”, etc.• What role did Messiah Yeshua have in the creation account?• In what way does John 1 parallel Genesis 1?In John chapter 1 we are introduced to another John who would be known as “John the Immerser”, or “John the Baptist.”• Was there a clash between the two ministries, John and Yeshua?• How else was John known to the people–how did they regard him?• What was his role in the entrance of Messiah into the world? In verse 12 it says, “to those believing in His Name”, Rabbi Berkson clarifies the understanding that although the name of Yeshua is important, the message conveyed here is not so much the name as is the “authority” behind the name. Being in the state of “darkness” places one under no authority or under the wrong authority. Being in the state of “light”, one has submitted to the authority of Elohim. In that latter state, one is also given that authority to become the children of Elohim. From John chapter 1 Rabbi Berkson moves us into John chapter 3 so he can expound on the well-know verse 16. The exposition he gives on John 3:16 is not for the average listener, as there seems to be much more meaning in this one verse than most people have understood all their life.• What does it mean to “believe in Him”? Is belief merely mental assent?• Why are the words “should not” and “might” used in this verse?• Is John 3:16 an if/then statement?Moving forward into John 8:12 we see Messiah Yeshua make the declaration that He is the Light of Life. Then he makes the call to discipleship under Him by saying whoever follows Him would possess the Light. Rabbi Berkson gives insight as to what it means to possess something.Going forward in the Gospel of John, Rabbi Berkson stops at chapter 9 where we see the account of Yeshua healing a blind man. His disciples asked Him why and how did this man become blind. Was it something he did, his parents did? Rabbi Berkson cautions all of us to stop looking upon someone else’s condition and guessing why and how they got there. Sometimes it’s just for the purpose of manifesting the works of Elohim.Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 6

Diving right in to this teaching, Rabbi Steve Berkson starts us in Matthew 15:1 where we see the Scribes and Pharisees confronting Yeshua about how his disciples did not observe one of the “traditions of the elders”–the ceremonial washing of hands before eating food.• For what purpose did the religious authority of the First Century continually confront Yeshua?• What did the Pharisees do that Yeshua took issue with them about?• Are “traditions” bad and not to be observed at all?• What could Yeshua have done that would have completely destroyed his ministry?• What does the phrase, “blind leading the blind” mean?• What does the true ‘discipleship model’ look like?Rabbi Berkson then takes us to the passage in Isaiah 29:13-24 that Yeshua directly quoted when confronting the Scribes and Pharisees about elevating man-made traditions to the level of Torah, eclipsing actual Torah. In this passage Rabbi Berkson expands on the issue of Light vs. Dark being spoken of by the prophet. He also shares a conversation he had with an atheist in which Rabbi Steve proposed a “what-if” all that we believe turns out to not be true. Then in Luke 1:67-79 Rabbi Berkson shows us another aspect of Light in the purpose of John, a prophet and forerunner of Messiah Yeshua. His purpose was to also be a light to people of that time who were living in darkness, shining on the coming of Messiah, our hope of redemption. In Luke 4:17-21 we see Yeshua again quoting the prophet Isaiah in chapter 61, verses 1-2. Rabbi Berkson takes us to the passage in Isaiah and brings up an interesting point concerning the differences in translations of the Bible.• What translation was Yeshua reading from when he read Isaiah 61:1-2?Finally, Rabbi Berkson takes us into Isaiah 42:1-7, 16 to give more context to Isaiah 61:1-2 as that passage describes a role of the Messiah.Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover • even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Related Teachings can be found here:• INfocus: Nothing Wrong with Tradition, unless… https://youtu.be/19CYyFwcSD0• INfocus: What About Jewish Traditions? https://youtu.be/SNOOFiUAPkM• INfocus: Put the Mic Down? https://youtu.be/QTH6Vc2ssqQ• Discovering Your Identity https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf9HOA0P9oX9sYCl1svmfxY2AfKCmf8H4Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 5

After a brief refreshing of the last four parts Rabbi Steve Berkson continues in Matthew 6:24, making the point that there are those who would start a teaching at this verse. He states that when other teachers skip ahead in this chapter some of the meaning of what Yehsua was getting across to his followers would be lost without the context of the previous twenty-three verses.Matthew 6:24 states a basic relational principle–that you cannot serve two masters. In this situation, as Rabbi Steve points out, it’s a question of who are you trying to please or impress, man or Elohim? If you try to please both you will become frustrated, ending up pleasing nobody because of how diametrically opposed each party is from the other. Yeshua is making the point that it is impossible. Then, moving into verses 25-34 Rabbi Berkson begins a section on something that all of us can succumb to – worry. Yet, Yeshua assures and comforts us with the knowledge that we are the most important to our Father in all of his creation.Connecting to the topic of ‘worry’ Rabbi Steve gets into what he calls a “problem with husbands and wives.” He provides some excellent counsel for the dynamics of the spousal relationship. He also encourages and exhorts you to become the man or the woman that Yah intended you to be–the journey starts from where in your life you are today.Segueing from there into Matthew 11:28-30 Rabbi Berkson points out that Yeshua is speaking discipleship language when he talks about taking his yoke upon you. Taking on the yoke and burden of Yeshua is also the solution to worry. Rabbi Steve gives an unexpected and interesting perspective on the word ‘light’ in verse 30.Moving forward, Rabbi Berkson links the teaching of Yeshua with the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:1 through 7:2 as Paul writes to his assembly in Corinth about being ‘yoked’, or learning from unbelievers.• What is a “believer”?• What does it mean to be “lawless”?Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 4

As he finishes the Tanakh portion of Darkness & Light, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes you to Proverbs 6:20-25 and makes the comparison of parental instruction and instruction from the Eternal Father. The way the author worded phrases in Proverbs was as a father talking to his son, but should be interpreted for you today as your heavenly Father talking to you. Rabbi Berkson also points out that the Torah not only functions as a light instructionally, but it also has a nurturing aspect as would a mother’s role in giving instruction to her children, giving comfort and encouragement. What is meant by a “flattering tongue”?How many different ways can you attach the Torah to yourself? How is “deep” darkness defined?Moving into the Brit Chadasha (New Testament), Rabbi Berkson expounds Matthew 4:13-17 as this passage includes a quote from Isaiah as a Messianic proof of Yeshua being the light. The people who were living in that area at that time were sitting in gloom and darkness, not only under the oppression of Rome, but also under the religious system of that time who’s leaders were hiding light from them. Then staying within the context of Matthew 4, Yeshua the Light, Rabbi Berkson expounds further as he moves us into chapter 5 where we see Yeshua sitting on a hillside instructing his disciples along with the multitude about what it takes to also become a Light to the world. In what way are you today “like the prophets of old”?How do you “lay up treasure in Heaven”?Why is the ‘so’ in the phrase, (Matt 5:16) “Let your light so shine before men”? What are the good works? Is the definition of the English word ‘fulfill’ or ‘complete’ in Matthew 5:17, ‘to terminate’ or ‘do away with’?Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover even more dimensions of Darkness and Light.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 3

Could there be those who are walking in varying degrees of darkness? How would they know? Is it possible that they think they’re walking in light, but are not? What would be your role in interacting with them? How do you get to the place where you trust anyone to teach you how to walk out your faith? Are there out there those who are anointed and appointed by the Creator with the ability to help you navigate through life? How do you find those anointed and appointed?“If you can’t get to the place of trust, you’ll never be able to progress. Progression forward comes out of a place of trust.” ~ Rabbi BerksonIs it a good thing to be simple of mind and heart? (Isaiah 59:6)• What are the two types of Darkness?• What is “thick” darkness?• How does the Light work in us toward others around us?• What does the phrase “In Your light we see light” mean?• Are there those who could be called the walking dead?Rabbi Steve Berkson identifies the problem people encounter while walking the straight-and-narrow. At some point they begin to doubt, which can turn into disbelief in the deliverance of Yah. This problem moves them slowly into darkness, a place of groping around and not finding their way. However, even in that darkness there is still mercy and compassion in that through the gift of repentance, then heeding the voice of an anointed-appointed, the Light can lead them back to the path of life.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Darkness & Light - Part 1

This teaching begins a new series of teachings on the subject of darkness and light. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible has much to say and teach us about these two things that we humans experience in our physical world. While darkness and light are two separate entities, they are dependent on each other. Scientists have studied darkness and light extensively, not only on this earth, but also beyond into the universe. They have measured the speed of light at 186,000 miles-per-hour. The brightness of light can be calculated in units called lux or to use the precise scientific terminology, illuminance. In this teaching, Rabbi Steve Berkson lays the foundation for the rest of this series in the meanings of darkness and light that goes beyond the physical and into the spiritual aspects of which the scriptures present for our knowledge and understanding, so that the Light will shine in our lives!Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Afterburn: Thoughts, Q&A on Honor & Shame - Part 8

Some of the topics covered are:• If you are looking to be moved up (in authority), maybe you are not ready to be moved up• Should “public correction” only be done by the leadership?• Meekness should not be confused with weakness• What’s with all these “leadership positions”, aren’t we all disciples of Messiah?• Is it the “job” of everyone to go out and “share the Gospel”?… and much more!Afterburn: also known in the world of fitness as the “afterburn effect”, simply put; The more intense the exercise, the more oxygen your body consumes afterward. The same could be true as you build up your spiritual self. After an intense teaching session, you need answers as more thoughts and questions consume you in your spiritual growth.Rabbi Steve Berkson, director of MTOI, provides an opportunity for the Afterburn to take place by additional thoughts and insight about what he just taught as well as answering questions from the local congregation and those watching the live stream.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Honor & Shame - Part 8

In Luke 14:1-14 we see Yeshua teaching about honor and shame using the example of the seating arrangement at a wedding feast, making the point about how shameful self-exaltation can be and how honorable it is to have genuine humility. As He was teaching He used a phrase, “resurrection of the righteous”–what does this mean? How are your vertical and horizontal relationships? Do you understand your place and role? Do you understand that if you have a place of authority over others that you also have an authority over you? Do you conduct yourself accordingly with honor? Are you showing the same kindness and patience to others that was shown to you?Do you have a “limited definition” of evil? How is evil defined in scripture? When is public correction of someone appropriate? By whom? What was Paul’s instruction to Timothy his student? What does the phrase, under the yoke, refer to? To whom is due “double respect/honor”?Bringing this teaching to its conclusion, Rabbi Steve Berkson’s desire is for you to understand that as you conduct yourself in ways that bring bring honor to Messiah and the Father, honor/respect/esteem will come back to you from them and from those around you.Don't miss out on new teachings every week.
