Ep 708Episode 708: Tahor and Tamei: What State are You In?

This topic is probably one of the most key and comprehensive themes underlying the entirety of scripture–the concept of being tahor (clean) or being tamei (unclean). Rabbi Steve Berkson hopes your perception of what you've been studying and a lot of what you've been doing will be impacted by this teaching.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 706Episode 706: Evil | Part 3

People typically don’t engage in normal conversation on the topic of ‘evil’, although maybe a glancing discussion when they see something in a news headline or a movie/TV show that portrays something as they perceive as evil. But, do you know how much ‘evil’ is written about in your Bible? Do you know what the true, scriptural definition of ‘evil’ is? How does this knowledge affect your walk of faith.Rabbi Steve Berkson is one of the small few that would take on the challenge of teaching from scripture about the topic of ‘evil’. You will be amazed and often surprised as Rabbi Berkson dissects the verses from the Bible, one-by-one if necessary, to teach what he has discovered and how these discoveries will definitely impact your life – both physically and spiritually.Rabbi Berkson decides to start from the beginning, in the book of Genesis, as he has done in other teachings, to provide a comprehensive understanding of this topic. • 2 Kings 17:6 Israel provoked Elohim and were exiled• 2 Kings 17:11 Believing someone is a mouthpiece for Yahweh• We have to stop playing• Are all Messianic’s the same?• Stiff-necked?• What if you’re wrong?• Elohim works through people• 2 Kings 17:15 Worthless• 2 Kings 17:16 Same thing, only different• Job 1:1 Job “turned aside from evil”• Job was not doing because he was blessed, he was blessed because he was doingDon't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 701Episode 701: Love and Torah | Part 59

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. In this final episode Rabbi Steve Berkson moves to the 17th chapter of the Gospel according to John. This is where we we see Messiah Yeshua praying to His Father for those whom He chose and discipled to continue the work that He started. Then moving to Deuteronomy chapter 30, Rabbi Berkson shows us that the plan of Elohim was to exile His people to other nations because of their disobedience, but that they would be regathered and once again do the commandments they were given which included loving their Elohim. In Matthew 24 we see how a lawless generation devolves into love turning cold. Do not be deceived by false prophets who would tell you Torah is not for today or you could fall into the lawless category, thinking you have a relationship with Messiah and the Father, but coming up short at the end. And finally, Rabbi Berkson takes us to Roman 8:28 to show us how Love is connected to Torah-keeping as the verse says, “all things work together for the good…”Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 699Episode 699: Love and Torah | Part 58

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.Picking up where we left off in the Gospel of John chapter 15, Rabbi Steve Berkson picks up in verse 16 where he explains how Yeshua has chosen us to be a part of His work here on the earth. Even though at that time He was talking directly to His disciples, giving them instruction before He was about to be killed, His words can apply to us today if we will allow ourselves to be discipled through His Holy Spirit and produce the fruit He expects to see.All of what Rabbi Berkson has unpacked from John 15 is about love for one another in the way the Father expects us to love. We are called and chosen so that we are no longer a part of the world and its ways. As we pull away from the world to follow Messiah and live according to Torah we will experience a disdain from others who do not understand Messiah or why we choose to follow Him.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 697Episode 697: Love and Torah | Part 57

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.Continuing in the book of 1 John, Rabbi Steve Berkson begins this teaching in chapter 5 where John tells us that belief in Messiah Yeshua and all that carries with it does not come from us, but that belief or knowledge and relationship has been birthed in us from above. In verses 2 and 3 Rabbi Berkson points out that, again, love is connected to Torah Observance and that the commandments of Yahweh are not heavy or burdensome. In verse 4 John calls us who believe, overcomers. Having been born of Elohim and given the ability to have a relationship with Messiah Yeshua we overcome the world through that belief. Rabbi Berkson clarifies what overcoming the world looks like – we see things and respond to challenges in our lives differently than the way the world does.Moving on, Rabbi Berkson takes us to the Gospel of John, same writer, different book, to link what we learned from 1 John with what is being conveyed in the gospel writing. Yeshua speaks metaphorically of the relationship we have with Him and the Father by using vines and branches and a gardener who takes care of the whole thing.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 695Episode 695: Love and Torah | Part 56

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. In the review of the last episode, Rabbi Berkson cautions about deceptive teachers as John also cautioned in 1 John 4:1. This deception is at work today in some faiths in that they are actually a “World System mixed with Truth”. As Rabbi Berkson points out, some people have a tough time hearing the message from the Word of Elohim because it’s not delivered in a way that matches their predetermined ideas of how it should be dispensed. The teachers in this system are also guarded in what they say and how they say it because of being more concerned with offending people than with pleasing Elohim. In 1 John 4:7 Rabbi Berkson begins this teaching by explaining how we are to love each other who are of the same mind in Messiah. He explains the if we can’t love each other, how can we extend any love outside of ourselves and to those whom Elohim would want to have in covenant with Him.In verse 9 the word ‘manifest’ is used and Rabbi Berkson wants to make sure the definition of that word does not get lost in any previous understanding we may have. The word ‘manifest’ means to be revealed to the seeing eye. Messiah is manifested through us as we live through Him, not the other way around, loving others as He would love them.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 693Episode 693: Love and Torah | Part 55

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.Returning to the letter of 1 John, Rabbi Steve Berkson begins this teaching in chapter 3. He proclaims how wonderful it is that Yahweh is pleased to call us His children. Rabbi Steve goes on to say that because the world does not understand Yahweh, they will not understand us either. But we understand Yahweh because He has chosen to reveal Himself to us by opening our eyes and our ears. The day is coming when Messiah appears we will understand completely because as John puts it, we shall be like Him. Ep 691Episode 691: Love and Torah | Part 54

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. From the first nine verses of the book of John, chapter 14, Rabbi Steve Berkson shows us how Messiah Yeshua was the “ultimate expression of discipleship” under His Father. So we should, as followers of Messiah, be as such so that others will see Yeshua represented in us and ultimately see the Father. What did Yeshua do? He walked out the Torah-observant life perfectly. He invites us to do what He did, and He provides help in sending His Spirit. What’s in a name? Yeshua says, “if you ask whatever in My Name…” Does this mean if His Name is invoked, like a magic genie He has to do one’s bidding? Rabbi Steve clarifies what Messiah meant when He told us to use His Name.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 689Episode 689: Love and Torah | Part 53

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. To refresh our minds and hearts, Rabbi Steve Berkson brings us again to 1 John chapter 1 to expound on the meaning of who Messiah Yeshua is and what He should be to all of us which is life, light, and truth. That through this understanding we should do our utmost to live in the light, having fellowship with Elohim and with each other. This fellowship is achievable only through living in covenant with Elohim in which is only light and no darkness at all.In chapter 2 of 1 John, Rabbi Berkson starts with revealing the number one problem, according to him, in the Body of Messiah today.• How can you know that you know Messiah?• How is the love of Elohim ‘perfected’ in you?• What is a ‘stumbling block’? How does it affect your life and walk?• What is meant by “do not love the World nor that which is in it”?• Are we in the “Last Hour”?• What is an ‘anti-messiah’?• Why did John say, “and you know all…”?• What happens when someone rejects Torah?• How do you know that you are “born of Him”?You can only understand Love and Torah when you can understand how light and darkness can influence and work in your life.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 680Episode 680: Shuva Yisra’el (Return O’ Israel) | Part 5

Have you maintained a faithful, straight walk in Torah? Or, have you gotten “off the path” a little or a lot? Do you sense a call to return to the path, to Yahweh? As Rabbi Steve Berkson finishes this teaching series, he begins his text in Joel 2:12 where we see Elohim giving His people instruction for how to return to Him. As Rabbi Berkson points out, Yahweh expects those who are returning to Him to be serious about repairing the breach in the relationship.• What is tearing your garments? Why does Elohim want a tearing of the heart instead?• What does Elohim do to get your attention so that you return to the path?In Jeremiah 32:37-42, Yahweh says that as much as He brought evil to His people for their turning away from Him, so He will just as much bring good to those who return.• When Elohim says, “I shall give them one heart…”, is He just going to hand out new hearts to everybody?• Ephesians chapter 2 talks to us about the opportunity given to us to become what?Moving to Isaiah 1:16-20, Rabbi Berkson points out that with a holistic understanding of scripture, it’s not possible to get the message that Elohim just gives us everything. He also points out that the scriptures can also be used by many to make conclusions for erroneous agendas.• What is a ‘holistic’ approach to the Scriptures?• How could someone prove from Scripture that their chicken was the Messiah?• What is evil? How does Yahweh define evil?• When Elohim says, “Come let us reason together…” (Isaiah 1:18), does that mean Yahweh wants your input?Going forward to Isaiah chapter 58, Rabbi Steve clarifies the understanding that to truly be in covenant with our Creator, there are two things that have to work together.• Is this chapter only referring to Yom Kippur?• Doesn’t Elohim always responding to fasting and afflicting ourselves?• What are the two things it takes to please Elohim?• How does Rabbi Berkson interpret ‘speaking your own words’?Verse-by-verse and step-by-step Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us on the journey of discovery as we learn how to covenant with our Creator and Father, which, from time to time requires us to turn around and return (Shuva) to His Word so that we can have a sure entrance into His Kingdom.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Have you maintained a faithful, straight walk in Torah? Or, have you gotten “off the path” a little or a lot? Do you sense a call to return to the path, to Yahweh?Continuing from the last episode, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us from Ezekiel chapter 18 to chapter 33. In the first part of the chapter, Yahweh appoints the prophet Ezekiel to be a “watchman” who would warn the people of that time of the judgment coming upon them. Yahweh also gave clear instructions for how this appointment should be performed, with a warning to the prophet of the consequences should he not perform his duties.• Can anyone take away from this passage that they too are a “watchman”?• What is the danger in claiming to be someone appointed by Yahweh?• How did Rabbi Steve define ‘crookedness’?• What is the difference between your righteousness and Elohim’s righteousness?• What is your part in getting into the Kingdom of Elohim?• What will you be doing in the Millennium?• What is the real test of your pursuing Torah?• When is an apology not an apology?• What is the difference between a ‘won’t and a ‘can’t’?• Are your sins truly forgotten?• What is the one “salvation issue”?Verse-by-verse and step-by-step Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us on the journey of discovery as we learn how to covenant with our Creator and Father, which, from time to time requires us to turn around and return (Shuva) to His Word so that we can have a sure entrance into His Kingdom.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 677Episode 677: Shuva Yisra’el (Return O’ Israel) | Part 3

Have you maintained a faithful, straight walk in Torah? Or, have you gotten “off the path” a little or a lot? Do you sense a call to return to the path, to Yahweh? After a quick review of the last two episodes, Rabbi Steve Berkson shows us from Jeremiah 33:7-8 how Yahweh promised to, “turn back (Shuva) the captivity of Judah and Israel and build them as at the first.”In this passage, why does Yahweh mention both Judah and Israel?• When was “at the first”? (Exodus 6:6) How can you relate to this concept today?• How can you “return” if you were not born and raised as an Israeli?• What is the first step of ‘returning’?• What is the ‘Egypt’ that is over you today?• What are the two levels of redemption that Messiah Yeshua provided for us?• For what is the Land (of Israel) a metaphor?• What is the 2-step process of “return” promised in Jeremiah 33:8?From there, Rabbi Berkson takes us to Ezekiel chapter 18. In this chapter we see how we individually will be held accountable for our behavior and the importance of “owning” our choices.• Why are the words, “Thus said Yahweh” important?• What is a ‘nephesh’ and how has it been improperly defined?• Is a son held accountable for the father’s unrighteousness, or visa-versa?• Is there such a thing as “generational curses”?• Do you really reap what you sow?• How can I make a new heart and spirit?Verse-by-verse and step-by-step Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us on the journey of discovery as we learn how to covenant with our Creator and Father, which, from time to time requires us to turn around and return (Shuva) to His Word so that we can have a sure entrance into His Kingdom.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Have you maintained a faithful, straight walk in Torah? Or, have you gotten “off the path” a little or a lot? Do you sense a call to return to the path, to Yahweh?Taking us to Jeremiah 29:12 Rabbi Steve Berkson points out Yahweh’s pattern of behavior towards His people. When He needs to correct covenant behavior He starts with small subtle nudges and then uses more severe measures to get our attention. Then at some point if He determines we are not listening or responding, we will be turned loose to “play with the pigs” and hopefully come to ourselves and return to Him and the Covenant.• What’s the first thing one should do when returning to Yahweh?• What is “hedging an apology”?• What is not seeking Yahweh with all your heart? In Isaiah 55:6 two things are mentioned – seeking Yahweh while He can still be found, and calling on Him while He is near.• What causes Him to not be near? What separates and causes distance between you and Him?• Why do we not fully understand and accept His ways?• What are 3 things that will forever be in the Kingdom of Elohim? From there, Rabbi Berkson takes us to Lamentations chapters 3 and 5 where we see the formula for a prayer of repentance.• Have you ever been contrary to the Covenant out of rebellion?• What does this mean, “renew our days as of old”?Then we hop back to Jeremiah 6:8-17 where we see how Torah is much more than just “The Law”, but it is for our instruction. Yahweh wants us to be ‘instructed’ by Him.• How can our ears be “uncircumcised”?• Why does Yahweh want to see us walk out His instructions?• What is “greedy for gain”?Verse-by-verse and step-by-step Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us on the journey of discovery and learning how to covenant with our Creator and Father which from time to time requires us to turn around and return to His Word so that we can have a sure entrance into His Kingdom.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 673Episode 673: Shuva Yisra’el (Return O’ Israel) | Part 1

Seldom does Rabbi Steve Berkson do a “timing teaching”, but it seems the Ruach put this one in front of him (at the behest of Rabbi Tom) to bring to you today. This teaching series is based on a tradition called “Shabbat Shuva” or the “Shabbat of Return” which by tradition falls between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (Day of Trumpets and Day of Atonement). The text for this tradition is Hoshea (Hosea) chapter 14 and begins with, “O Yisra’el, return to Yahweh your Elohim…”So, after having gone through the Spring Feasts – Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Shavuot, which are types and shadows of the Hebrew's exodus from Egypt and journey to Mt. Sinai, have you maintained a faithful, straight walk in Torah? Or, have you gotten “off the path” a little or a lot? Do you sense a call to return to the path, to Yahweh?• What is meant by “crookedness”? What does crookedness cause you to do?• Regarding the call to return – return to what? From there, Rabbi Berkson takes us into Leviticus chapter 26 to look at the reasons to return to the Covenant. In Leviticus chapter 26 the blessings and the curses associated with Yahweh’s Covenant with His people are listed.• How is it that you will be able to walk in Covenant with the Creator? From Leviticus, we go to Deuteronomy 4:25 where we can see that Yahweh has an issue with His people and their idol worship. How can we today relate to them in that time regarding ‘idol worship’?Rabbi Berkson then takes us to Deuteronomy chapter 30 to show us one of the final exhortations of Moses to the people as they are about to cross over into the Promised Land. Interestingly, Yahweh through Moses told the people that in their future they would stray from the path they were supposed to walk and be taken from the Land by their enemies, but as they were living in a foreign land, their hearts would turn back to Yahweh and they would return once again to possess and live in their Promised Land.• In this chapter we see the phrase, “circumcise your heart” – what does that mean? Isn't that just a "New Testament" concept? What is it doing left of Matthew? And then we are taken to Romans chapter 10 where Rabbi Berkson points out that the apostle Paul is clearly writing about Torah observance, and indeed substitutes the word ‘Messiah’ for the word ‘Torah’ as he quotes Moses in the section from Deuteronomy chapter 30.• What does Romans 10:4 really mean?• What is “the righteousness of belief”?• What is “the good news of the good”? • Was there “Good News” before the New Testament?Verse-by-verse and step-by-step Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us on the journey of discovery and learning how to covenant with our Creator and Father which from time to time requires us to turn around and return to His Word so that we can have a sure entrance into His Kingdom.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Ep 671Episode 671: Love and Torah | Part 52

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. In this teaching Rabbi Steve Berkson continues in the second “Great Command” of loving your neighbor or loving each other. He takes up where we left off in James (Ya’akov) chapter 4, then moves into chapter 5, then takes us to 1 John chapter 1.• How do your likes or dislikes affect your relationship with others? What does Rabbi mean by saying we have to “learn each other”?• What does “friendship with world” mean?• What does “subject yourselves to Elohim” mean?• What does “resist the devil” mean?• How do you draw near to Elohim? How does Elohim draw near to you?• When pursuing Torah, who’s feelings are you concerned most about protecting – your friends and family or Elohim?• How would you define ‘sin’?• Do you really understand what the first two verses of 1 John is talking about?Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.Welcome to the Jubilee of Love and Torah. Continuing in the book of James (Ya’akov), Rabbi Steve Berkson unpacks chapter 2…• To whom did James (Ya’akov) write his letter? How do we today identify with them?• How does one exhibit ‘partiality’? • What’s the difference between ‘judging’ and ‘judgment’? How is one not desirable to Abba than the other?• What does it mean if you’ve broken one Torah command, you’ve broken them all? Aren’t there different levels and kinds of sin?• What is important about how quickly we repent?• Can we today keep all of the commandments in the Torah?• What are “salvation issues”?• What does it mean to be “judged by the Torah of Freedom”? Are you really free?• Are you a ‘conduit’ for everything that Yah desires to distribute to others?• When should you stop calling yourself a believer?• Why wasn’t the righteousness of Abraham because of his belief alone?• How do belief and works (keeping Torah) function together?Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week.
