On today's edition of the Locked on FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JakeW_8) to break down the Panthers 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Opening night from Sunrise. It was the second straight championship banner that they lifted, and it was Aaron Ekblad who brought out the Cup one more time before a new season got underway. The Hawks were the first one the board, but their lead did not last long as the Cats responded over a minute later, and getting another one just over three minutes later to take the lead. The Cats and Hawks went into the third tied, but midway through the period, Jesper Boqvist gave the Panthers the lead, and they never looked back. Florida was able to take advantage of a young Blackhawks defense corps when it came to the amount of times that they won 50-50 battles, and being the first on the pucks when getting them deep and on their forecheck. Former Panther Spencer Knight kept Chicago in the game, but the Cats were able to limit their forwards as only one player had more than one shot on goal (Bedard) as the Panthers were keeping them to the perimeter and making life easier on Sergei Bobrovsky. The guys give their three stars of the game, when they knew the game was won, and discuss how this might be the norm for the Panthers with them missing two major pieces, and how there might be frustrations as times during the regular season when their depth does not come through like it did on Tuesday night. Prior to the anniversary, Tkachuk got his day with the Cup, and tied the knot with the love of his life, a perfect weekend for the Tkachuk Family.
