Ep 133LAB-133-CHIP's the Movie 2017-Biker Perspective-Should you go see it?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode Chewy, Lurch, and I discuss the new CHIP's movie scheduled to release in theaters March of 2017. We break it down on what we've learned and give you some insight into whether you should go watch it. CHIP's was a classic TV show and I loved watching it as a young boy. The show ran 6 seasons, from 1977-1983. The movie stars Dax Shepard, who will be playing Officer Jon Baker and Michael Pena who will fill the role of Officer Frank "Ponch" Poncherello. Shepard also wrote and directed the new movie. Other cast includes Vincent D'Onofrio, Adam Brody, Rosa Salazar, Vida Guerra, and Kristen Bell. Principal photography began on October 21, 2015 in Los Angeles. The film is scheduled to be released on March 24, 2017 by Warner Bros. Pictures. This movie is really not a replication of the original CHIP's TV series. Instead, it is an action comedy and Hollywood put their flare on it for sure. There are high-speed chases, motorcycles, and explosions. There looks to be much comedy between Pena and Shepard in the trailer. Many relate the comedy between Shepard and Pena as that of a Lethal Weapon movie. So, just go into this new movie with the mindset that it will be nothing like the original TV show and instead, a completely different experience. The story line is that there are corrupt officers in the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Pena is sent in by the FBI to infiltrate. Shepard's real-life wife, actor Kristen Bell, is also in the movie. She stars as Shepards "Trashy, Estranged Wife" Shepard is fairly skilled on a motorcycle and did his own stunts, while Pena looks to not be such a good rider and a dolly is seen balancing his motorcycle in many behind the scene photos. Interestingly, they chose to ride Honda ST 1300's for the movie. It is our understanding that the real California Highway Patrol Motors Officers currently ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles with some left over BMW's they are phasing out. So, we're not sure why they chose Honda's, but hey it's Hollywood. They rarely get anything accurate. Our opinion is that it will be worth seeing this new CHIP's movie. It's got motorcycles, action, explosions, and some great humor from what we can see from the trailer. Ep 132LAB-132-Polaris Stops Victory Motorcycle Production | Is Indian Next to Go?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this podcast episode we go into detail about the recent Polaris announcement that it will no longer manufacture Victory Motorcycles, effective immediately. The company will help dealerships in liquidating the current stock and will provide parts for its models for 10 years along with service and warranty coverage. Check out our Routine Maintenance & Oil Change for 2009 & Newer Victory Motorcycles with Freedom 106 V-Twin Motor Video Victory began in 1998 with sales peaking in 2012. Since then, they have declined over the years and in 2015, Victory represented only 3 percent of total Polaris sales. It is reported that Victory dealerships only sold about 20 motorcycles a year. Polaris has lost money in Victory 3 out of the past five years. Add in the recent recalls over the Slingshot and its side-by-side vehicles, and their decision to give up Victory is understandable. Ep 130LAB-130-Should You Start or Idle Your Motorcycle During Cold Winter Weather?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we break down the old myth that you should go out during the winter every so often to start your motorcycle and let it idle for a bit to warm it up. Many think this will keep things lubricated and that it is good for the motor to do this. Heck, I used to do it because that's what my father always did with sitting cars. This particular subject matter came up in the Patron Only Private Facebook Group. If your not in this group you should consider it, because a ton of reliable information and discussions are in there. Many bikers can't ride during certain snow months and head out to the old garage, fire up their motorcycle, drink a beer, maybe have a cigar, and let their bike run for 15-20 minutes. They shut her down and head back into the house. Is this a good practice? Now that I am more educated, I realize this is actually a bad thing to do to your motorcycle's engine or any engine for that matter. You're better off just letting your motorcycle sit unless you are actually going to ride it for a fair distance. You see, idling your motorcycle in the cold not only wastes fuel, but it's also stripping oil from critical components that help your engine run, namely the cylinders and pistons. Normally, your motorcycle engine runs on a mixture of air and vaporized fuel. When that mixture enters a cylinder, a piston compresses it, which generates a combustion event, powering the engine. New Patrons: Tony Falvo of Coatesville, Pennsylvania Roy Skaggs David Duffey of Jackson, Tennessee If you appreciate the content we put out and want to make sure it keeps on coming your way then become a Patron too! There are benefits and there is no risk. You can also support us via a flat donation: When it's cold outside the gasoline is less likely to evaporate. Your motorcycle purposely runs "rich" and compensates for this initially by adding more gasoline to the air-vapor mixture. That's the problem, you're actually putting extra fuel into the combustion chamber to make it burn and some of it can get onto the cylinder walls. Gasoline is a great solvent and it can actually wash oil off the walls if you run your motor in those cold idle conditions for an extended period of time. Over time, that can have a detrimental effect on the lubrication and life of things like piston rings and cylinder liners. This can have a serious effect on the overall operating life of your engine. Myth busted; idling your motorcycle does not prolong the life of your engine; rather it shortens it. Your motorcycle doesn't run rich the entire winter. It only happens when the gasoline is cold. Once your engine warms up to about 40 degrees Fahrenheit, the car transfers to normal fuel-consumption rates. You might think by idling your motorcycle, you're warming it up, which will prevent this problem. Idling doesn't really get the engine up to temperature, and until that happens the engine control module (ECM) on the engine is going to keep sending a rich-fuel mixture to the cylinders so that it can ensure that enough is evaporated for a consistent combustion event. The best and only real way to get your motorcycle engine's temperature up is to actually go out and ride! If you can't ride because of ice and snow, then just don't start your bike at at all. When you ride in those colder temperatures, letting your motor run for about thirty second to a minute is a good standard before you take off. Once you take off, don't just immediately open up the throttle and rip on it. Ride gently for a bit to give it time to warm up or you'll put unnecessary stress on your engine. It can take 5-15 minutes for your engine to warm up depending on the driving conditions. Also, because your motorcycle is going to run a bit rich before the engine reaches 40 degrees Fahrenheit, you're going to get lower gas mileage than usual. Definitely keep your motorcycle battery on a tender or it'll go bad! This is a great one! Click on the picture to check it out. (affiliate link/support us) Why the Myth? The myth started in an age when all motorcycle engines relied on carburetors. Then came the standard application of fuel injection. The main difference is that electronic fuel injection comes with a sensor that feeds the cylinders the right air-fuel mixture to generate a combustion event. Carburetor-run motorcycles lacked this important sensor. If your gasoline was too cold, your car wouldn't run rich, it would simply stall out. In those days, it was important to get the carburetor warm before driving. Those days are gone........ Another Private Patron Only Facebook Group Subject we covered: Oscar writes: Wanted to let you all know about my K&N filter problem so you can check yours out before the big Sturgis trips. Recently I found that my stage 1 K&N filter (aftermarket stage 1 kit 2013 Limited) looked like it had deformed. I reached my finger to the point where the intake met the filter and found an open air gap large

Ep 129LAB-129-Best Headsets for Harley-Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System | Wireless & Wired Solutions

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode Rick "Big Daddy" Kane and I get down and dirty with what headsets work best with the Harley-Davidson Boom! Box Infotainment System. Yes, we have the best solutions for Bluetooth wireless headsets and the good old wired 7-pin DIN plug in headsets. You'll really need to listen in to get all the information. Let me be VERY clear........No, there is absolutely no wireless Bluetooth headset that will pair "directly" with the Harley-Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. It doesn't matter if you have a 2014 or a newer 2017 Harley with the Boom Box as it is the same exact version of the Infotainment system and no changes in hardware have been made by Harman Kardon, maker of the Boom! Box. Let me, a biker, show you all the tips, tricks, and hidden menus, so you can get the most out of your system. Less time stressing, more time riding! Video of Interest: Install Harley 7-pin DIN Music & Communications Kit or Plug | DIY-2014 & Newer If you want to use a wireless motorcycle Bluetooth headset with your Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment System, we do have a solution and workaround. Give voice commands, turn by turn directions, skip songs, tune stations, internal intercom, CB radio, phone calls and more! Of course, the Boom! Box has always worked with a wired headset solution and you do get full Boom! Box integration that way. And it is a quite a bit cheaper than the wireless alternative (above). Wired: GET THE BIKER BOOM-IMC FOR THE BEST WIRED 7-PIN DIN COMMUNICATIONS PORT HEADSET FOR YOUR BOOM BOX 100% Full Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment System Integration!! Give voice commands, turn by turn directions, skip songs, tune stations, internal intercom, CB radio, phone calls and more! The Boom! Box was never designed to have a wireless Bluetooth headset pair directly with it. It was not made with an HSP, headset profile. It was made with an HFP, hands-free profile, which is why your smartphone will pair with the Boom! Box directly, but not a headset. In Harley's defense to having no headset profile, Honda did the same thing with their Goldwing line. Goldwing owners are having the same sort of issues and having to do workarounds. The Goldwing has a 5-pin DIN communications port instead of a 7-pin like the Harley. Ep 128LAB-128-Motorcycles & Semi-Trucks-Sharing the Roads | Safety Concerns-Part 2 of 2

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-This is part 2 of a two-part podcast series all about motorcycles and big rigs sharing the roads we all travel. There are inherent dangers when riding a motorcycle near or around a semi-truck, but you can minimize them. We have professional truck driver and Patron Member Russell Roberts of Gallatin, Tennessee in the Law Abiding Biker Studio to weigh in on the issue. We also have professional truck driver and Patron Member Steven Stratton of Stockton, California weighing in remotely via Skype. These guys get to see it from both sides, both as truck drivers and as motorcycle riders, so you really have to listen in to this conversation. They tell us exactly what to be careful of and how to properly ride around semi-trucks. Semi-truck recap tires can blow out at any time and if that happens and a chunk hits you as a motorcyclist, you'll loose and that can be very serious or fatal. This can be a huge chunk of half of a tire or more! You've all seen the tire carcasses laying in the freeways. Back off or get past the semi-truck when riding. Plus, if you're hanging out on either side of the truck, you are likely in a large blind spot if the driver decides to move over. These blind spots are called the "No-Zones". As a highly trained motorcycle rider, I can't tell you how many motorcyclists I see following trucks and cars too closely. The problem with trucks specifically, is that if you're following so close and a semi-truck easily straddles large debris in the road, by the time you see it coming out from the bottom of that truck it's likely too late. If you hit large debris on a motorcycle it can be serious if not fatal. Why put yourself in that situation? You're not saving any time, but only putting yourself and others in danger. Back off and then pass when it's safe. Time and distance are your friends, especially when riding a motorcycle. Also, some semi-trucks have very long noses and a there is a large No-Zone directly in front. That is because the driver literally can't see over the nose and down. It is a fair distance out before the driver can actually see what's in front of him/her. A motorcycle will never be seen and it's clear what happens if you're run over by a semi-truck. Yah, you'll be the loser on that one. That is a huge reason to not suddenly move and change lanes right in front of a semi. Not only can't they slow or stop quickly, but they then can't see you when your up there. If you appreciate the content we put out and want to make sure it keeps on coming your way then become a Patron too! There are benefits and there is no risk. To help you understand the No-Zone better, a good rule of thumb is that if you can't see the driver in the side mirrors then they can't see you. You don't want to be in those blind spots on a motorcycle when a truck driver decides to move left or right. So, throttle up a bit and get past the truck or back off and give distance. Don't get caught in those spots at all costs. These are just a few of the highlights of our in-depth discussion and you'll really need to listen in to gain more knowledge and understanding. It's worth your time as a motorcycle rider to get all the information as it could save your life. At the end of the day, pull your head out and use good common sense. You're not invincible. Remember to respect professional truck drivers. They have a very difficult job to do with all the crazy drivers out there. They have a big responsibility because if they collide with a car or motorcycle it is usually very bad. They take this very seriously, so help them out and don't be part of the problem. Ep 126LAB-126-Sacred Steel Bikes Discovery Channel Motorcycle Show-Is it Worth Watching?

E

Official Website: Podcast-In this episode we discuss the Discovery Channel series called Sacred Steel Bikes. The show released in late 2016 for a 6 episode run. At the time of this article, Discovery Channel has yet to renew Sacred Steel Bikes for a second season. Nobody is sure if the show will even be renewed. Sacred Steel Bikes is based out of East LA and is about a group of guys that are part of a motorcycle club called Douche Larouche. It seems the members have full-time jobs and after work and on weekends they get together to build bikes in a shared shop space. Jason Wilson is the organizer of these custom bike build jobs and is a union sheet metal worker by day. He is trying to take Sacred Steel Bikes to the next level as a business, but can't seem to drum up any buyers. The bikes Sacred Steel build are old school custom choppers. They are really cool to look at and much respect goes out to these guys for their talents. However, in a saturated market of custom bike builders, it's going to be hard to find buyers for these niche bikes and Jason is learning that. The bikes they build are custom "bar hoppers" at best and not built with any comfort, rideability, or reliability considerations. They'd be fun to ride local and to look at while drinking a beer with buddies. They're definitely not for any sort of distance riding. It seems Jason knows this issue and by the October 17th season finale episode, he's attempting to build a custom bike that's more rideable to appeal to a larger biker consumer base. In early episodes, Jason is purposely poking fun at older Discovery Channel bike build shows such as American Choppers and their endless episodes of always having to make a deadline. Funny thing is, after several episodes Jason himself is running bike build deadlines and the show tends to focus on that. So, it mimics several other past Discovery Channel motorcycle build shows now. It seems that to sell commercial spots there has to be exciting down to the minute deadlines. The show is fun to watch, so I say give it a try. There are many things that will make you laugh and many sacred-steel-no-ball-slappingshenanigans that go on around the shop and very similar to things that go on around here at Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast & Media. Ep 125LAB-125-Harley Voiding Warranties on Milwaukee Eight for Aftermarket Exhaust & EFI Tuners? Fact or Fiction?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-So, you may have heard the vicious rumors going around that Harley-Davidson dealerships are voiding warranties if you install aftermarket exhaust, remove catalytic converters, or install electronic fuel injection (EFI) tuners on your new 2017 model equipped with the Milwaukee-Eight motor. The unreliable motorcycle forums are full of bad information because nobody actually researches the matter. Well, I did that for you and talked to many sources inside Harley-Davidson dealerships. Some of these rumors got started because recently the Screamin Eagle Super Tuner was banned by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Harley-Davidson was fined $12 million dollars. So, nothing is new with the new 2017 Milwaukee-Eight 107 or 114 ci motors in regards to warranties. For years, all Harley owners have been at risk of having a warranty voided for installing aftermarket exhaust, removing catalytic converters, or adding EFI tuners. Clearly, dealerships are not supposed to remove catalytic converters, but it's fine to install new Vance & Hines or other aftermarket head pipes without them? The confusion goes on from there. The fact of the matter is that you're still at risk and internal Harley-Davidson policies have not changed. But, Harley-Davidson leaves much discretion to its dealerships to handle matters such as this. So, what does this really mean for you as a Harley-Davidson owner? Make sure you have a very open line of communication with your local dealership service writer and mechanics. Ask them point blank if they are in the business of voiding your motorcycle warranty if you change pipes, intake, or add an EFI tuner. I can tell you that most will not void your warrant and have not voided warranties for years as it's just bad business all the way around. Especially at these times when Indian and Victory are banging on Harley's doors trying to get a bigger chunk of the market. If your dealership says they will actually void your Harley warranty for such things then never step foot in that dealership again and tell all your Harley buddies. That would be a personal choice by that particular dealership and I'd make certain they got very little business. You'll have to listen in to this podcast episode to get the full scoop and find out what other things we learned and other tips we give! Opening Song: Zeek Blake, the lead singer of the band Zane Run, is a Patron Member of Law Abiding Biker. Zeek posted a video singing an unreleased song he calls "Cold Beer Salute" in our private Patron only Private Facebook Group. He allowed us to play it as our podcast episode opener. Ep 124LAB-124-Can You Use 15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil in a Harley-Davidson Motor?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Note: Law Abiding Biker™ Media is not recommending you use any oils in your Harley engine that are not officially approved and/or recommended by Harley-Davidson. We are only relaying information that is known to many in the biker community. You are solely responsible for what you decide to do to your bike. Okay, so you're out on a motorcycle road trip and don't have any synthetic oil or "approved" oil for your Harley-Davidson, but need some suddenly. There are no close stores for motorcycle oil, but the local truck stop has heavy duty 15W-40 diesel oil available. Can you throw some of that into your Harley motor and be on down the road? Maybe you are you on an extreme budget and can't afford full Synthetic motorcycle oil, such as 20W-50 Amsoil, which we use here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media in all our bikes. Check out theses podcasts: Amsoil Synthetic Vs. Harley Davidson Synthetic Oil | The Scoop (Episode #26) Dynacycle Semi-Synthetic Oil Real World Testing By Bikers | Amsoil or Dynacycle? Does it Matter? (Episode #95) Oscar is on a mic during this episode and I get to ask him a bunch of technical questions. As you all know by now, Oscar is a wealth of knowledge and my beloved resource when it comes to motorcycle oils and used oil analysis (UOA). We use Black Stone Lab for all our UOA's. You'll have to listen in to get all the details on this topic as Oscar spills his knowledge! Check out our #1 Ranked Harley-Davidson Routine Maintenance & Oil Change Video Like a diesel engine, a Harley engine is classified as "heavy duty" use. So, many of the additive packages they put in the oils are very similar. If you're going to do this, our suggestion is to at least use full synthetic 15w-40 heavy duty diesel oil. Again, we are not actually encouraging anyone to put heavy duty diesel oil in their Harley. Always check with your local Harley-Davidson dealership mechanic for advice. There are many bikers out there that swear by using heavy duty diesel oil in their Harley. Big Daddy Kane here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media has also done it before in the past. Just know that Harley-Davidson recommendations are different and you definitely could have warranty issues should they discover it. If you're not under warranty then heck, do what you please at your own risk. Our personal take on it? Oscar and I are going to continue using full synthetic 20W-50 Amsoil in our Harley-Davidson's as it's approved and we love it. I'll spend almost the same amount of money buying full synthetic 15W-40 heavy duty diesel oil anyways. But, if you're using standard (non-synthetic) 15W-40 heavy duty diesel oil then you can go real cheap. New Free Video Announced: Harley Inner & Outer Primary Housing, Clutch, Compensator Sprocket, Chain Removal-DIY Pure Gas App we discussed: (Find Ethanol Free Gas) Email we covered reference our Vance & Hines Fuelpak3 EFI Tuner Video! Email From: David Caldwell Thanks! I was scheduled for an expensive dyno tune at Hammer Performance here in Sandpoint (great bunch of guys), but I watched your post re Vance & Hines' FP3. Cancelled the dyno thing, ordered the FP3, and installed it today. Cleaned my 15 Road Glide Special right up. Amazing piece of work. Bought the bike off the showroom @ Lone Wolf, had a stage one put in first thing, and it never would run right. Had them re-tune this spring, but no improvement. Did the FP3, ran a 45 minute map run, zapped it, and fell in love with my bike all over again. The dyno tune at Hammer and the FP3 were basically even money (actually Hammer had the potential to be quite a bit more), but with the FuelPak I can keep tuning indefinitely. As you can see from your roster, I support what you're doing. Keep it up! Ep 123LAB-123-Best GoPro & Action Cameras for Motorcycles-Best Mounting Positions | What You Need to Know

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode I was fortunate to have Law Abiding Biker Patron Member Russell Roberts in the studio. He is an awesome photographer and does video too. He has much experience with using and mounting GoPro action cameras to motorcycles. LawDog was also on a mic and as a beginner had a ton of great questions to ask Russell and I. I think he asked questions many of you out there want to know and how to get started from the ground up. We reveal how you Bikaholics can get started with action cameras when out riding your motorcycle. Of course, we use high-end camera, audio gear and lighting here at Law Abiding Biker Media for many projects. But, we also utilize GoPro cameras to capture footage depending on the particular project. I do all my moto biker vlogs with GoPros and iPhones. You can see our free videos on our YouTube Channel. Of course, we also have our very popular for purchase videos. We have tested many different GoPro mounts and motorcycle mounting positions over time and we reveal it all to you! If you are thinking of getting started with action cameras on your motorcycle then you'll definitely need to take a listen. Russell Roberts can tell you, and I agree, that the Biker Gripper GoPro Motorcycle Mounts are the best in the world. That is our #1 go to GoPro motorcycle mount. Good luck using the cheap plastic GoPro "bar mount" to attach your camera to your motorcycle. They break after several uses and you'll get unwanted vibrations in your footage. We talk about these mounts and more. We also talk about mounting your GoPro to your motorcycle helmet, which I often do during moto biker vlogs. It can give a great rider perspective. There are mics and Yakima Rive Canyon Biker Motorcycle attachments you'll need to talk into your GoPro while riding down the road. I talk about the equipment I use and list affiliate links to the exact items I use below. Many times I'm asked what GoPro settings I use to record video. Of course, that depends on the exact look I want, but I can say a good starting point for most bikers would be to record at 1080p and 60fps (frames per second). I am not a fan of recording at 4K right now, due to the massive file sizes and management of those files. And the fact that most viewers will never see it in 4k anyways. I am also asked what software I currently use to edit my videos. I use Final Cut Pro X on my Mac for most of my video editing with many purchased add-ons. Rusell and I also use Adobe Premiere, which can be used on MAC or PC. If you are not doing advanced things then for most iMovie, which comes free on Mac's, works just fine. GoPro also has free desktop editing software. There are also free programs for PC too, but I don't use PC's so you'll have to see what's available. Last, we compare other action cameras on the market for you. We compare GoPro to those cams and give you our opinions on the many choices out there. You'll also need a good quality quiet helmet if you want to moto vlog. I use a Schuberth C3 Pro helmet to cut down on any wind noise. Adding a wind-screen of sorts to the mic can also cut down on wind noise. I'm also behind a fairing most the time on my Harley Street Glide and that helps a ton. These are all things you'll need to consider and testing will be key to see what works best for your needs. I don't currently use any GoPro session models, but Russell Roberts does. He gives his insight and the pros and cons of the session vs. the full-size GoPro cams in this episode. E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Hang on and make sure your helmet is on as we come at you with a ton of information. That's right, Oscar & I are on the mics discussing everything about the new Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight 107 ci motor! The articles on the internet are hit and miss at best. Oscar & I break it down from a real biker perspective and what it actually means for all of you Bikaholics out there! We have a real biker conversation. Oscar has a ton of knowledge on the specs on this new motor and you'll definitely want to listen in. Then, you can make an educated decision about whether it's worth it for you to upgrade. New 2017 Harley touring models will be equipped with the Milwaukee-Eight 107 ci (1750 cc) motor. The CVO models will now be equipped with a 114 ci (1870 cc) motor. The eight-valve motor was a complete redesign with new cases, cylinders, heads, and flywheel. This motor is a cooler and quieter motor from Harley-Davidson, which were several of their major goals in the redesign. Several days after recording this podcast I had the opportunity to spend some time with a crushed ice pearl colored 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special with the Milwaukee-Eight 107 ci motor. I filmed the bike in detail and went over the specs and information for you. I then did a MotoVlog for you as I took her for a test ride. See the below very popular Harley Milwaukee-Eight videos I put on my YouTube Channel! After listening to this podcast episode and watching those videos you'll be super informed on whether this Milwaukee-Eight motor is for you or not. He took us on some nice twisty roads and through some beautiful areas. We even visited the grave of Buffalo Bill at 987 Lookout Mountain Rd, Golden, CO. Anyways, we stopped in Idaho Springs, CO and had a nice lunch & cold beer at Tommyknocker Brewery. This is a definite place to visit if you're ever in the area. Al, Indian John, and I had a nice conversation over beer and food, biker to biker. That is exactly what this podcast episode is all about. Ep 116LAB 116-Waco, TX Biker Gang Shooting-One Year Follow Up-What You Need To Know-Part 2 of 2

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Many of you requested we do a follow-up podcast episode on the violent criminal biker gang shooting that occurred in Waco, Texas at the Twin Peaks Restaraunt on Sunday, May 17, 2015 that left nine bikers dead and many others hospitalized. We listened and go in depth in this two-part podcast series. Don't forget to listen to podcast episode #78 & read the article we released shortly after the incident. It has been about one year now since these violent acts took place between the Bandidos Motorcycle Club and the Cossacks Motorcycle Club. These motorcycle clubs are designated as outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMG's). The Bandidos claim 1%er, but the Cossacks do not. The clubs were both present at the Twin Peaks Restaraunt to attend a Confederation of Clubs (COC) meeting. The Bandidos control the Texas COC and want the Cossacks to pay them dues. The Cossacks refused to pay the COC dues and also decided to start wearing a "Texas" bottom rocker on the back of their vests, against the advice of the Bandidos. The Bandidos MC believes only they have the right to wear that Texas rocker. There had been many documented violent feuds between the clubs leading up to this shootout. The Cossacks claim they were at the COC meeting to ask for a truce. 154 out of the 174 bikers arrested that day have been indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity. Most are out on bail and it will be some time before many ever see a court room. It is a large-scale investigation that is ongoing. Over 1000 weapons were recovered throughout the crime scene. Guns, knives, brass knuckles, hammers, tomahawks, machetes, bullet proof vests, and even an AK-47 assault rifle were recovered. These criminals hid guns in bags of potato chips, between bags of flower, and tried to stuff them down toilets. In the words of Sgt. Swanton of the Waco, Texas Police Department, "They were not here to eat barbecue and drink beer". I agree with his thoughts that these criminal biker gangs were there for trouble. It is clearly demonstrated by the amount of weaponry recovered and the way they were hidden. This kind of evidence shows these clubs true intentions. Shortly after the Waco incident, Bandidos National President Jeff Pike and several other top Bandidos leaders were arrested and federally indicted. Not for the Twin Peaks incident, but for a federal investigation that was already ongoing. The indictments were for assault, murder, and extortion. Pike stepped down as the President and is out on bond awaiting trial. The police did everything they could to warn Twin Peaks management of the dangers of holding more biker events, due to the mounting violence between clubs. But, they disregarded warnings and went on as usual. One former Twin Peaks waitress has spoken out and witnessed Police telling management of the dangers. Police had no authority to shut the Twin Peaks down and had to standby with forces outside the event. Their hands were tied and their fears came true. These criminal bikers even opened fire at the police during the shootout and it should be no surprise that several criminal bikers were likely shot & killed by police. However, the ballistic reports have not yet been released. In fact, Bandido MC member Jake Carrizal has publicly stated on a CNN special that it appears police shot a man that was clearly going to shoot him. Carrizal is likely alive, because of police protection and their swift action. A simple thank you to the police would be nice for saving his life. We will have to wait for ballistic reports to confirm this. Carrizal was directly involved in the start of this brawl and can be seen on video surveillance. Former Bandidos National President Jeff Pike is ignorant enough to say that all would have been fine had one uniformed police officer been inside the restaurant walking around. These criminal bikers knew SWAT and police were all around the restaurant and still opened fire on each other. Clearly a uniformed officer would have stopped nothing and put that officer in great danger. The juvenile thinking of these criminal bikers speaks volumes. Of course, there are those bikers arrested complaining. Many complain and shift blame as usual. Honestly, I don't know the merits of each case nor the details of each, nor does anyone else except those involved with the actual investigation. I will say that if you are going be a criminal biker, attend events with rival 1%er clubs clearly present, involve yourself with the COC, or just hang with known criminal bikers then you are putting yourself at risk of being in the middle of fights & the possibility of being criminally investigated. Sometimes common sense needs to be used. This is just the start and you'll have to listen in to this two part podcast series to get all the facts and details. In this podcast episode, we reference a CNN special titled "Biker Brawl: Inside The Texas Shootout". New Free Video Release: Pull Wires Through Han

Ep 109LAB-109-When Should You Replace Your Motorcycle Helmet? Is There a Standard?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-We received a computer voicemail from David Schwarz of Israel and that spurred this very podcast episode. David wondered if there is a standard or a specific time frame on when we should be replacing our motorcycle helmets. So, we busted our butts like usual for you Bikaholics out there and researched this very topic. We came up with some surprising information & best practices for you. As usual, you'll really need to listen in to this podcast episode to get all the specific details. We also talked about several other things, but this was the main topic. A Must Listen to Podcast Episode & Article on Motorcycle Helmet Ratings and Testing: (Get in the know) LAB Episode #94-Motorcycle Helmet Ratings | DOT, ECE, SNELL-What does it mean for bikers? Do as you like for your personal safety or course, but we believe that our information here is cutting through all the smoke and mirrors for you. Certainly helmet manufacturers would like you to replace your helmet often, as it is a huge industry. Sponsor for this Episode: (Biker Supporters!) Bikebiker Planet Community (Browse for Free) Use our Special Law Abiding Biker Link Here! There are a ton of myths out there. No, if you drop your helmet you don't need to replace it, within reason. If you drop it from an 8 story building, then it has endured a significant impact, so by all means replace it. If you simply drop it out of your hand or off your bike, then be realistic, the helmet is fine. It may have a scratch, but that is cosmetic. If you are involved in a motorcycle collision and you actually impact the helmet with some force, then certainly replace it. You should treat your helmet with some respect and care for it properly, which will ultimately extend its life. This includes storing it in a cool dry place. Don't leave it out for long periods baking in the direct sunlight. Keep your helmet away from petroleum-based products such as fuel, cleaners, and paint. If you notice the helmet getting loose in fitment, some of the lining is coming out, or it leaves little black flakes in your hair, then it's time to replace it. I know, this all seems to be common sense and it is. A general rule is that a motorcycle helmet will last for about five years with regular usage. The glues, resins and other materials used in the making of the helmet can lose their effectiveness and also deteriorate the lining. Another reason to replace your helmet every five years is that helmet technology is always advancing and a new helmet is going to offer more protection. Here is from the Snell Foundation website, which is very reputable when it comes to motorcycle helmet safety standards. The five-year replacement recommendation is based on a consensus by both helmet manufacturers and the Snell Foundation. Glues, resins and other materials used in helmet production can affect liner materials. Hair oils, body fluids and cosmetics, as well as normal "wear and tear" all contribute to helmet degradation. Petroleum based products present in cleaners, paints, fuels and other commonly encountered materials may also degrade materials used in many helmets possibly degrading performance. Additionally, experience indicates there will be a noticeable improvement in the protective characteristic of helmets over a five-year period due to advances in materials, designs, production methods and the standards. Thus, the recommendation for five-year helmet replacement is a judgment call stemming from a prudent safety philosophy. At the end of the day, you really just need to ask yourself one question. Is my helmet in good shape and will I trust it to protect my head should I become involved in a motorcycle collision? After all, it's your head............. New Law Abiding Biker Video Release! Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast. Harley Oil Filter Spill Tray Funnel DIYcast-In this episode Cuz is in the studio with me and it's been a while since he's been on a mic. We talk about his 2012 Harley-Davidson Road King and some of the immediate projects he wants to do. He is thinking of putting a detachable batwing fairing on it and he has researched multiple companies. We also talk about the pros and cons of 16" ape hangers versus smaller 14" ape hanger handlebars. Much information sharing goes on over in the Private Patron Only Facebook Group! It is really better than any motorcycle forum out there, as you know the people in the group and who is actually giving you advice and tips. In the group, there is a "search" bar. Any topic can be searched and it will result in all discussions and information on a related topic. We shared a very cool, cheap, and easily made Harley oil filter spill tray using a plastic liter-sized pop bottle. Patron James Dimitrious is to thank for sharing this little DIY project in the private Patron Only Facebook Group. If you are one that doesn't like to drip any oil from the filter onto the frame then this is for you. I would have never tackled this project without your video. Only difference is I wasn't confident enough to do it without covering the tank and front fender. I didn't have a dental tool to put the ground wire in the connector but used a paper clip that worked fine after several tries.. I also used velcro to attach the plug to the tank so it would be easier to remove if necessary. The dealer I bought the connector from wanted 2 hours labor to install. That seemed a little much and they described it as a big job. That was fine until they seemed unsure answering my questions. I left there feeling like they were going to be experimenting on my bike. I had to find a better way. Went home and started poking around on Youtube and found your channel. Ended up taking me a couple of hours taking my time as I had never had the bike apart before. It could easily be done in under an hour by anyone with some experience and the necessary tools at their fingertips. Ep 106LAB-106-Project Chola? Transformation & Customization of a Harley Road King-The Story, Tips, & Tricks

E

Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we talk about Rick (Big Daddy) Kane's 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King project. He has some great stories and tells where this bike actually came from. Every used bike has a story and this one is pretty cool, so you will want to listen in for sure. This is a secondary bike for Big Daddy, who has a 2014 Harley Ultra Limited for those long cross country trips. He basically shares the older bike with his father. Sponsor for this Episode: (Biker Supporters!) Biker Planet Community (Browse for Free) Use our Special Law Abiding Biker Link Here! Rick has done quite a few things to this Road King to make it look like a "Cholo" bike with a Mexican low-rider type influence, which is why he calls it "project Chola". He did it all very affordable and used local resources. For obvious monetary reasons, he couldn't just go out and buy all new parts for the transformation. Listen in as we break the entire project down. He learned a lot of things and shares many tips and tricks. Ep 104LAB-104-Immortal Knights Public Safety Motorcycle Club (PSMC)-Official Interrogation-Guest Randy "Jake" Patton

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Hang on as we have another law abiding biker motorcycle club interview for all you Bikaholics. In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Randy "Jake" Patton, who is one of the founding members and the President of the Immortal Knights Public Safety Motorcycle Club (IKPSMC). Also along for the interview ride is Steve "Pirate" Bills, who is the IKPSMC Sgt. At Arms. The Immortal Knights MC is based out of the Salt Lake City, Utah area. We really break it down from how the Immortal Knights MC came into existence, their struggles, their accomplishments, their ideologies, their beliefs, and just what makes them tick. We dive further into what it may take to become a member of their club and how to get in touch if you are interested. All law abiding biker clubs should be jumping on this platform and setting up a simple podcast interview, so we can all learn from each other. Clubs that do so get on the exclusive Law Abiding Biker Club Page. And you get a permanent link directly to your very own interview and page. You will always be able to send prospective members or anyone interested in your club directly to your episode! Get a hold of us on our Contact Page Now and schedule your interview. biker planet logo The following is approved by Immortal Knights IKPSMC President Randy "Jake" Patton: On December 2nd 2011 I made the trek north. At this meeting were Jetwash, Mickey, Minnie, Bubba and Dory. As I explained why I made the decision to leave our old club behind, I could see the discontent rise in their eyes. It was then that I pitched my idea of a club that would be what I had thought our former club was supposed to be. Not only did they find the idea of starting a new club intriguing, each one of them removed their patches and decided to help me form our new club. I had the idea of using "IK" in the name of our fledgling club. I wanted the name "knights" as part of the club. It took us a while, but Mickey came up with the word "immortal" for the first part of our name. We named our club the Immortal Knights Public Safety Motorcycle Club. The Phoenix was chosen as our back patch centerpiece. We chose that as we saw ourselves rising from the ashes of a crumbling mess and moving onward from that in a rebirth of something new. The reasoning behind using the letters I & K are, "I" is the ninth letter of the alphabet and "K" is the eleventh. Together they represent 911. The 911 has a double meaning in our club. It represents September 11th when the United States was attacked, and the emergency number that is called when the public is in need of a first responder. It was decided that the sign of our clubs founders would be the infinity symbol. The infinity would represent the original eight members of the Immortal Knights as well as keeping the memories of the fallen first responders alive. When we started this club, we thought about how we wanted to approach our bylaws. We wrote them with a national flavor but knew that we did not want to grow too fast. After the experiences from our former life, we saw firsthand what fast growth can do to an organization. So, we decided to take it slow. If that means we never grow out of the state of Utah, so be it. With that being said, we are not afraid of moving out of our home state, but will do it at our own pace. Our First Responders Tribute Ride is a cornerstone of the club. Each year we select a different first responder organization to raise money for. We beat the pavement and pound on doors working towards the end goal, which is the ride. We gather as many bikers as we can and ride through the local mountains. At the end of the ride we have some good food, raffle off some of the items that have been donated, and we also have an auction for some of the bigger items. Every penny we raise through these efforts is then given to the organization we ride for. Ep 103LAB-103-Harley Boom!™ Box Wireless Bluetooth Pairing Headset Hacks-The Facts-Special Patron Guest Darwin Cheng

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we talk about the inability of the Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment system to pair "directly" with a wireless Bluetooth motorcycle headset. We speak the truth based upon facts, research, & testing that was done. We discussed all of this via a Live Blab session. On the mics with me were Rick Kane of Law Abiding Biker™ and Community Patron Member Darwin Cheng of California. These are the kind of things that go in the forums in the Private Patron Only Facebook Group! Darwin conducted his own testing and on his own came up with an affordable workaround for "limited" connectivity from the Boom Box to his Sena Bluetooth headset. He shared all the information with us some time back and we finally got around to putting it together into a podcast and video. Darwin himself will tell you that his setup is a workaround and a hack of sorts. He can get some functionality, such as pushing the Boom Box audio to his Sena headset, but he cannot give voice commands back to the Boom Box, something only a wired headset can do at this time. Harman Kardon, the maker of the Boom Box system for Harley-Davidson, never intended it to work with wireless Bluetooth headsets. They only created it with a hands-free profile (HFP) to work wirelessly with things like smartphones and MP3 players. It was not created with a headset profile (HSP) to work with wireless Bluetooth headsets and those are the facts. Related Video & Article: Is there a Bluetooth headset that pairs "directly" with the Boom Box Infotainment System? Truth or Fiction? We dive in deep and discuss all aspects of this subject, so you'll have to listen in. We break down exactly what items are needed to get a Sena Bluetooth motorcycle headset to partially work with the Boom Box System. Darwin shares exactly how he transfers between listening to audio from the Boom Box system to transitioning to receiving and making phone calls. He shares inside tips and tricks if this is something you want to do. Understand, the Boom Box was specifically designed to work with a wired headset only. That really doesn't bother us here, because the good quality wired headsets work great and there are no headaches that go along with Bluetooth syncing. It is just one simple wire that plugs into your 7 pin communications port anyways, so there is no hassle. Use our Special Law Abiding Biker Link Here! At the end of this episode we announce a brand new product we are coming out with called the Biker Boom Headset. It is a fully functional motorcycle headset with microphone that fully integrates with the Boom Box Infotainment System. And it is better quality and half the price of the Harley brand headset. Scroll down for further information and availability exclusively in the Law Abiding Biker Store! If a future Bluetooth headset that "directly" pairs with the Harley Boom Box becomes available we will certainly let you know. I wouldn't hold your breath though. _________________________________________________ CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE: Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548 Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/scrappy587 Google Plus Page: https://plus.google.com/b/104041070580228657262/+Lawabidingbiker587 Instagram: http://instagram.com/lawabidingbiker RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed iTunes Direct Link to Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087 Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/

Ep 102LAB-102-Harley Compensator Noise From Primary-New Chain Tensioner AND Torque Cones-Do they work? Plus more!

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we start out with a post from a Patron member of Law Abiding Biker private Facebook Group. That private Facebook Group is growing quickly and it is all about bikers helping bikers. The only way to get in is to become a Patron Member of the show. NEW FREE VIDEO-Touch up paint chip or scratch on Harley Davidson Patron member Carl Lingelbach posted a question about motorcycle torque cones for exhaust headers and their effectiveness. He put true dual exhaust on his Harley and now doesn't have enough back pressure and his bike is not performing optimally. Luckily, I had mechanical advisor Oscar on the microphone and he answered this very question. At the end of the day, he's not a big fan and doesn't think that torque cones are all that effective. There are much better options for performance out there like getting other exhaust aside from true dual pipes. You'll just have to listen to get all the details. Next we cover an email from Nora Dalton and she asks: I have a 2014 FLHTK with a compensator noise. I'm talking with HOG members with the same compensator noise can you tell us what is going on with the Harley Davidson compensator problem? Our Original Response: Listen and you might also hear the chain whirring around in the primary. Pull the primary cover off & replace the OEM Primary Chain Auto Adjuster with a new Auto Tensioner. A few have experienced that the auto tensioner was bad or needed to be quickly adjusted. What your hearing could be a primary chain with slack in it. So as the bike idles you hear the chain whirring or rubbing against the inside of primary. Then the compensator eventually gets a slack slap (knock). Of course we discuss this in more length, so listen in. Next we cover a voicemail we received from Martin Royal: Martin is wondering if he can use the Vance & Hines Fuelpak 3 (FP3) motorcycle fuel injection tuner (EFI) with his stock Harley head pipes if he removes the catalytic converters (cats). He related information from Vance & Hines that the stock O2 sensors are too close on the stock Harley head pipes and he will get cross-talk of some sort & that the auto tune function could then not be used. Note: Make certain you check your local, State, & Federal laws before removing catalytic converters from motorcycle exhaust pipes. Oscar and I give our personal opinion and our real world experience on this matter. Quite a few of us are using the Vance & Hines Fuelpak 3 on our current Harleys in just the manner Martin describes in his voicemail and have absolutely no problem with the functionality of the FP3 and our bikes are running great! And yes, we run the auto tune function on the FP3 and it works great! Certainly you could buy Vance and Hines head pipes or another manufacturer if you choose and they don't have catalytic converters and the O2 sensors are in a bit different location. Next we cover and email from Peter Ried Fort Hood, TX: (stationed there) I have been a member of your youtube channel and facebook page for Law Abiding Biker. After watching your videos and doing my own research I purchased my First Harley today. I haven't ridden a bike in years and love my 2014 Street Glide. Just wanted you to know that your information and videos is what put me back on a bike. I am stationed at Fort Hood. I at cant wait for more information on your forums. Keep up the great work Next we cover and email from Rory Seldon of Walnut, CA: Just wanted to drop a note and say that I tried to install the Hogtunes without your video and wasted several hours. Once I purchased the video, installation was a breeze. Great job and well worth the money!!!! Next we cover and email from Jon Philbrick: Thanks for the bundles of information you have passed on throughout the year. You are appreciated and looked to as a source of information. I know it takes more time than I think I could expend to put together your programs for us bikers (and other interested parties), but there are those among us that acknowledge your extra effort, and all useful. So as this year comes to an end and another one is coming face to face with us, I wish you and yours a most Merry Christmas and a great new year. May you be in health and continue on with your enthusiasm...and great informative emails/videos. Ep 101LAB-101-Colorado Motorcycle Expo Biker Shooting & Stabbing-1 Killed-A Fair Perspective

E

Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we really break things down in reference to the fatal biker club shooting on January 30, 2016 at the Motorcycle Expo at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado. Information is that a member of the Iron Order, a proclaimed law abiding biker club, shot a member of the Mongols MC, a proclaimed 1%er outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG). The evidence & research we have done supports each club's proclamations at this point. I have already written several articles on this incident with a fair and balanced perspective, unlike the rarely read articles the basement bloggers are releasing. The mainstream media can't report correctly either because they are obviously and likely unknowingly being fed bad information by special interest. Mainstream media will never have an insight into biker clubs and culture like we do. Related articles we reference in this episode: Read Original Colorado Biker Shooting Article for details and many resources Iron Order MC & Mongols MC Colorado Biker Club Shooting-Controversy & Truths-Educate Yourself Listen in as we discuss every detail surrounding the incident and give perspective and insight. There is much to discuss, but unlike basement bloggers who pass judgement with no evidence, we will wait for the facts to present themselves. Ep 100LAB-100-Special 100th Episode Celebration! Where we started, where we've been, & where we're headed!

E

Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-We are all super stoked to celebrate our 100th Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast episode with all you Bikaholics out there! We actually have 117 episodes out, because we covered several Sons of Anarachy seasons, but those episodes were not officially numbered. We were live on Blab and had a blast with community members jumping in and grabbing a Blab seat when we could (call in). We had quite a few of our beloved Patrons join and say hi! We even had numerous giveaways of items from the Official Law Abiding Biker Store, such as Biker Gripper cell phone motorcycle mounts & support shirts! It was our way of thanking everyone for the awesome support everyone has shown us. Sponsor for this Episode: (Biker Supporters!) Biker Planet Community (Browse for Free) Use our Special Law Abiding Biker Link Here! The Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast was nothing more than a vision when I started it back on March 15, 2013 in my daughter's small sound proof (lots of clothes) closet in my home with very minimal equipment. With a ton of work, dedication, and support from the audience we are proud to now be the#1 listened to motorcycle podcast! With the help of the Law Abiding Biker crew and audience participation, we have built this into a very large & continually growing worldwide biker/motorcycle community. That's right, we are the motorcycling majority and the 99%ers and we now have a very loud voice that many in the motorcycle industry are taking notice of! It's what we call a Biker Revolution! We have also worked very hard to build our YouTube channel and put out tons of free content. As of this time we have nearly 3 million views and that number is growing rapidly! We were able to move into a larger area and have a much more professional broadcast studio and equipment. Those that know how much we provide free are more than willing to purchase some of our popular for purchase videos & we continue to grow that library of videos too! We are also proud to have started the Official Law Abiding Biker Store and continue to bring new products to it for the motorcycle community. We want to provide the best possible experience for bikers, unlike so many other online motorcycle stores that only try to take advantage. We are transparent and we want bikers to truly know who is behind the store. We have become a real team & of course, brothers. We are working hard behind the scenes here at Law Abiding Biker™ and we trust that will propel us into the future. We depend on our supportive audience and our Patrons to continue to drive us forward. Listen in as we play many older sound clips from past episodes and poke fun at each other! It is a trip down memory lane for all of us and we had a great time. If you want to get an inside look at the history of Law Abiding Biker, then take a listen. Ep 99LAB-99-What things should you pack for a long motorcycle trip/ride? | Plus Tips & Tricks

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-There are so many things to think about before heading out for a long motorcycle trip. It is important to pack key items, but not too many unnecessary items. And so, it becomes a delicate balance. We all know how limited space can be when traveling on a motorcycle. That is also one of the reasons we love it so much. Pack what you can fit on your bike and ride into the sunset! Free your mind and soul! This episode is spawned from an internet voicemail we received from audience member David Schwartz from Isreal. He is planning a long motorcycle ride here in the United States very soon and wanted to know what to pack. He wanted our thoughts, experience, and insight into packing for motorcycle trips and that's exactly what we give everyone in this podcast episode. David Schwartz of Israel also mentioned how pleased he was with our Harley oil change and maintenance video. He has saved a ton of money doing his own oil changes and routine maintenance. Harley Routine Maintenance & Oil Change Tutorial Video We dive deep into this topic and it will make you think for sure. You might even refine what you pack yourself. This episode was also a live broadcast and we had much input via audience participation over on our Live Page. We appreciate all the Patron Members of Law Abiding Biker™ Media in the live chat. Being prepared for that long motorcycle trip is very important. We here at LAB Media have changed things throughout the years of riding from both good and bad experiences and we share it all with you. Not being properly prepared can make a trip miserable and take the fun out of it. What are you packing for your next motorcycle trip? Leave your thoughts and comments below this article. LAB-98-Outdated Maps in Harley Boom!™ Box GPS & Biker Planet Information/Review | Plus More!

E

official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-We received a voicemail from community member Greg Ehring. He purchased a 2014 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited equipped with the 6.5 GT Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. He noticed that the version of maps in his GPS were dated from 2012 and wanted to know why his new bike had old maps. Harley-Davidson partnered with Harman Kardon to design the Boom Box and with NaviExtras to handle the map portion of the GPS in the larger 6.5 touchscreen models. The smaller 4.3 non-touch screen Boom Box does not have GPS. No, neither Harley Davidson nor local dealerships are going to check to make sure you have the current GPS maps in your Boom Box upon purchase of your new brand new Harley. Quite honestly, even if you asked your dealership representative they would not have a clue how to check for that or even how to update it. Yup, Harley has done a poor job on this matter and you're on your own. But, I'm here for you to keep you informed on this stuff. Quite honestly, even if you asked your Harley dealership representative, they would likely have no clue how to check for that, let alone how to actually update your GPS maps. Yup, Harley has done a poor job on this matter and you're on your own. But, I'm here for you to keep you informed on this stuff. Check out our entire series of Boom Box Tutorial Videos Here NaviExtra seems to have exclusive rights to sell you the new updated Boom Box GPS maps and maps for other portions of the world. Unlike Garmin and other companies with lifetime updates or lower priced maps, NaviExtras sells their maps for the Boom Box anywhere from $150-$200 each. So, if you get a brand new $30,000-$50,000 Harley you may likely have old outdated maps. So, you can keep your old maps or you can go and spend extra money with NaviExtras to update your maps in the Boom Box GPS. Yup, and there is no other way around it. I know, it's frustrating many Harley owners for sure & I get tons of emails about it. I love my Harley Davidson, but the company should have protocols in place, so dealerships can update the Boom Box GPS maps on floor models, so a customer could have the most up to date NaviExtra GPS maps before riding away on their brand new bike. Just want to give you an FYI about this practice. Riding in the shoulder of a roadway in California is paralegal. That is considered driving in a emergency breakdown lane. Most of California's interstate systems are anywhere from 3 to 6 lanes, Meaning California freeways. The law says that a motorcycle may split A lane when traffic is under 25 mph. Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this podcast we tell a very cool story of Patron Cody Case of Myrtle Creek, OR. He called in and bought us pizza before we went live for this episode. He wanted to feed the Law Abiding Biker Media crew & we appreciate it very much. We also play a recorded phone conversation we had with Cody. If you haven't experienced the Live Broadcasts, make sure to do so. We have live chat and it is a whole different experience. On hand via Skype was special guest Gregory Gaxiola from California. Greg became the very first Patron supporter of Law Abiding Biker™ Media several years ago and is now a top-tier supporter! We met up with Greg Gaxiola a few years ago on our summer motorcycle trip to California. He even took a short ride with us and attended a barbecue at a private residence we were staying. Greg has many years of experience inside the general law abiding biker scene. He has been riding most his life and has owned a plethora of bikes. Everything from metric to Harley Davidson. Greg tells stories of some of the bikes he has owned and what he thought of them. There is a lot of good information in this episode and at the end Greg tell's what his favorite bike to date is. Out of all the bikes Greg has owned and ridden, he chooses his 2015 Harley Davidson Street Glide Special as his #1 pick! You'll have to listen in to find out why he chose it. Ep 96LAB-96-Inside the Mongols Nation With Lisa Ling of CNN-Manipulating the Media

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In no way does Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast & Media promote or support activities by any outlaw criminal motorcycle gangs (OMG's). We are simply reporting on the recent one hour CNN special called "Inside the Mongols Nation", which was hosted by Lisa Ling. We had numerous emails requesting we cover the story and put truth and perspective to it. We listened to our audience and recorded this podcast episode for that reason. We take a fair and balanced approach & have much insight and perspective into what is fact and what is fiction based on our experiences. There were many facts that were reported in the CNN special and also many things that make little or no sense. To be fair to Lisa Ling, she has no experience with OMG's and that makes it much harder to decipher the truths. biker planet logoSponsor for this Episode: (Biker Supporters!) Biker Planet Community (Browse for Free) Use our Special Law Abiding Biker Link Here! Make note that we have never reported that every single biker in every criminal outlaw motorcycle gang is committing daily criminal acts. That would make us like them to assume and place broad stereo types. However, it is fact based on history and evidence that there are factions within these outlaw 1%er clubs that are committing and continue to commit criminal acts to include murder, assault, extortion, racketeering, robbery, & drug trafficking just to name a few. And it is tolerated within the clubs and many look the other way. Organized motorcycle gangs are becoming much more astute when it comes to the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act (RICO). You'll here it when criminal indictments are handed down on individual outlaw club members. Leaders in these biker gangs will say such things as.......that may have occurred, but the club did not know about it. RICO allows the Federal Government to go after entire criminal organizations such as outlaw biker gangs to dismantle them. It is a cat and mouse game and by keeping things loose in the club and letting smaller groups conduct criminal acts it does not involve the "organization" as a whole, thus helping avoid RICO prosecution. Attorneys for these biker gangs have trained leaders on what to say and how to help avoid RICO. Lisa Ling believes she had "exclusive" & "unprecedented" access to the Mongols for this special, but we find out quickly that is not the case. In fact, she was not allowed in a closed-door meeting and that is certainly not full access and leaves much to be speculated on. It is humorous at best when she tries to talk with club members, who just chuckle and say nothing of importance. The Mongols MC National President Dave Santillan, who also goes by Lil' Dave, seems to have organized this public relations attempt. Even he doesn't answer many of Ling's questions during the few times she asks serious questions backed by evidence. He steers away from them, becomes very uncomfortable, and his body language speaks for itself. Many criminal outlaw biker gangs have been manipulating main stream media for many years now and this is nothing new. It is a public relations move that Dave Santillan is now attempting. Outlaw clubs like this use main stream media to have them see what they want them to see in hopes of bettering their overall image to the general public. It's actually a really brilliant move and does work for them many times. I'm not surprised that Santillan sought a left wing liberal media outlet like CNN, because Fox News certainly would not have been manipulated like this. Lisa Ling and CNN were clearly not given access to complete a true and full story of the Mongols, but I give Ling credit for trying. She did a good job with the limited information she was allowed to gather and see. Even she says she can only draw conclusions on what she was "allowed to see" by the Mongols MC. Although we think that it was a good attempt at manipulating the media, in the end it appears to be a failure. Based on Santillan's and other club members lack of responses and evasiveness to valid questions, it leaves the public even more suspicious in our opinion. Ep 95LAB-95-Dynacycle Semi-Synthetic Oil Real World Testing By Bikers | Amsoil or Dynacycle? Does it Matter?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode we talk about Dyna Cycle Semi-Synthetic oil we recently tested. The company sent us some oil earlier in the year asking us to check it out. So, in true Law Abiding Biker Media style we went full throttle at it. I put Oscar as lead on the project and he is on the mic in this episode to tell you everything we learned. Oscar is a wealth of knowledge on oil and oil testing. This episode is packed with useful information for the average day to day biker out there. Oscar has useful tips he shares that all bikers can benefit from. You can learn a ton about what is going on inside your motorcycle engine with fairly affordable oil testing. We tested Dyna Cycle oil in one Harley and Amsoil in another. Both bikes have the same motors, were riding the same distance, and in the same environments. Oscar gets into more depth about how the tests were initially set up. Oscar took oil samples before and after our tip to Sturgis, SD this year and sent them off to Black Stone Lab, which are a completely independent Lab. The results are listed below in .pdf's, so take a look if you like. You'll need to listen in to fully understand the results, but we wanted to make them availiable. No longer will you need to be confused on helmet ratings and what they mean for the average every day biker out there. We got your back on this and you need to listen in to get the complete breakdown. Ep 93LAB-93-Harley Davidson V-Rod Muscle-What is this bike all about? A Complete Guide

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode we dive into everything surrounding the Harley Davidson V-Rod Muscle and Night Rod Special. We have Bid Daddy Kane on hand, who has personally owned one of these bad ass bikes. He has intimate knowledge of it and even tricked it out. He has since sold that bike, but misses it in many ways. Although the V-Rod seemingly has less interest than many other Harley models, it certainly has earned a place among many bikers. There are some pros and cons to the V-Rod and much of it has to do with personal taste and style. We reveal why you might be interested in this bike and why you may not be. We dive into the specs of the V-Rod and its history dating back to 2001. It has some amazing history and was produced to compete with Japanese & American muscle bikes. The V-Rod uses a Revolution engine, which was developed jointly with Porsche. This was the first time Harley used overhead cams and liquid cooling. What looks like the gas tank on a Harley V-Rod is actually the air cleaner cover. The actual gas tank is relocated to underneath the seat. Harley Davidson builds the V-Rod as a platform for drag-racing competition machines and is loosely based on the VR-1000 Superbike. The V-Rod uses an internally counterbalanced 60 degree V-twin engine. You really must listen in as we go in-depth in this episode. Ep 92LAB-92-Vance & Hines FuelPak 3 Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Tuner-Complete Review

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-This episode is dedicated to breaking down the Vance & Hines Fuelpak 3 motorcycle electronic fuel injection (EFI) tuner. We have tested this motorcycle EFI tuner on multiple 2014 and newer Harley Davidson motorcycles for many months now. Oscar is on hand in this episode to dive into the technical aspects. We break it down into an easy to understand guide for bikers/motorcyclists out there. This is a follow-up to podcast episode #81 where we talked about the Dynojet Power Vision vs. the Fuelpak 3. Admittedly, on that episode we stated that we were further testing the Fuelpak 3. Wow, we have learned much more about this EFI tuner since then and we wanted to share it all with you. As we have said many times in the past, if you change the pipes, mufflers, or air intake on your Harley Davidson like so many do, then you will need to tune your electronic fuel injection for optimum performance. And we think the Fuelpak 3 is a very good option for bikers to do so. This little compact EFI tuner packs a big punch and no install of larger O2 sensors is needed! It tunes off the stock 12mm O2 sensors that come stock on Harley Davidson's. There are no extra wires running up your bars to a head unit, as everything runs via bluetooth to an app on your smartphone! Don't waste your money having a dealership tune your Harley's EFI. All they will do is charge you $250-$300 for 5 minutes time and give your bike a one time basic EFI map. And if you change any little thing in the future you will be back paying another $250! With aftermarket tuners such as the FP3 you can change anything you want and just remap anytime you want. The FP3 is super easy to install with our Free Fuelpak 3 Install & Auto Tuning Video. We show you how to use & set up the free very intuitive V&H FP3 smartphone app. Additionally, we show you how to flash the engine control module (ECM) on your Harley directly from the app and run auto tune sessions to program your EFI further if you want. You will be up and running on no time at all. We made this video for every day bikers in an easy to understand format. Understand that the Fuelpak 3 is as capable as any other motorcycle EFI tuners on the market at this tim in our opinion. And we have done much testing and real world use of many EFI tuners. If you are an advanced user and want to manually enter values into the FP3 then you can. Oscar can get really technical with the FP3. I on the other hand use it for a simple EFI map download and auto tune sessions. Ep 91LAB-91-Outlaw Chronicles: Hell's Angels | History Channel Series & George Christie |A Review By Bikers

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-The main topic of this episode is a discussion and our thought on the recent History Channel's "Outlaw Chronicles: Hell's Angels" series. This is for entertainment purposes only and in no way do we support any sort of illegal behaviors or activities by any motorcycle clubs. This story seems to be very one sided and it is based on ex-member George Christie Jr's recollection of events. There seems to be no verification by any other sources about some of his recollections. Christie is said to be the longest serving President the club has ever had. He was heading up the Ventura, CA chapter when he left the club and has been ordered to have no contact with existing club members. Based on Christie's website and other activities on social media it appears he is trying to go full steam ahead to cash in on his experiences. Listen in as we discuss the series and give our take on things. It is a great conversation we had. Other Topics: We also have special guest Matt Passalacqua via Skype from California who just attended the 21st Annual Street Vibrations Rally. He gives good insight into this event and wether or not bikers should attend. Matt also recently traded in his metric bike and purchased a Harley Davidson. He tells all about his new ride and his experiences. Ep 90LAB-90-Should I Buy a New or Used Harley Davidson | Pros & Cons

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-This episode is based on an email we received asking the question, should I buy a new or used Harley Davidson motorcycle? In the email, Rodney Martinez of the San Francisco Bay area says it is his first Harley he will be purchasing and wants us to give our opinions and experiences on the matter. So, are you in the market for a Harley Davidson motorcycle? There are a ton of makes, models, and years to choose from. There are also a ton of local and online markets & services for buying and shopping for used Harley's. Of course new Harley's are only sold at certified dealerships and we have done a past episode on that. Podcast Episode of Interest: •Harley Dealership Purchase Process Episode #82 There are certain items to be cautious of and very simple things you can look for when buying an used Harley Davidson from a private owner. We have much experience over many years of buying motorcycles, both new and used, and you really need to listen in to hear the discussion. We give a ton of tips and tricks when making a Harley Davidson purchase. There are many reasons a biker may want to purchase an used Harley and here are just a few: •Price is much lower after bike is ridden (used) •Can work better price deals with a private owner (dealerships are pretty firm) •May get many custom parts and accessories included in purchase •Gives a new rider a good idea of what his/her next model may be Here are just a few reasons a biker may purchase a new Harley instead of an used: •Newest and latest Harley technology, frames, motors etc. •You may want a warranty upon purchase •No chance of deals gone bad like with a private owner We go over these items and so much more, so take a listen! Thanks to the following bikers for supporting us via a flat donation: •Jackson Copeland of Bakersfield, CA •Joseph Bellisarioi •Neil Harvey of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa Email Covered: From: Frede Maxwell of League City, TX Two week ago at the 2015 Texas ROT Rally early Saturday morning some one tried to take my 2014 Tri Glide by starting it with the default override code. I was staying overnight at a hotel near 6th and Congress. At 4:00 AM the hotel desk clerk called and asked if I had parked my motorcycle in the road. Of course, I said no, and immediately made my way to the elevator and on to the parking lot. I found my bike near the exit drive in the middle of the road and the key in to on position. The battery was so far down that it would not turn over and start.MY BAD, I did not lock the forks or ignition key. Thanks to your recent free video I changed the default override code on my Tri Glide and my wife's softail deluxe before the trip. If I had not reset the default code my 2014 Harley Davidson Tri Glide would be gone. Thanks Law Abiding Biker - keep up the good work. Ep 89LAB-89-Driver Purposely Swerves and Runs Biker/Motorcyclist off the Road | The Real Scoop & Facts

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we dive in deep to a recent incident in Hood County, Texas where William Crum, 68, swerved his car left and over the center line where a biker was trying to pass him. Biker Eric Sanders, 37, was attempting to pass Crum on his Kawasaki motorcycle and had his girlfriend Debra Thompson, 38, as a passenger. They passed one car fine, but when they tried to pass Crum he swerved left and cut them off. Sanders struck the left rear of Crum's car and went down hard. Both were injured, but passenger Thompson was very seriously injured and she ended up in the ICU. I did an article and posted a video of this incident immediately when it first happened. Our Custom Biker Gripper Cell Phone & GPS Mounts •Need a motorcycle cell phone or GPS mountingsolutionBikaholics? ◦ That's right, Law Abiding Biker Media put our logo on these mounts & we personally use them on our motorcycles! ▪ The sexiest, lightest, and strongest mounts available period. ▪ Good prices and fast shipping from our store? ▪ Check out our COMPLETE REVIEW This was all captured on video, as a trailing rider had an action cam on his helmet and recording. Crum shows no remorse when he is confronted by the biker with the action cam still recording. Crum says multiple times, "I don't care" and later claims he got stung by a wasp or bee. But, not before his initial statements of anger about the biker passing on a double yellow line. True, Sanders was passing in a no passing zone, but that certainly doesn't justify any of Crum's actions. Crum has since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into jail and his bail was set at $75,000. Crum has a prior criminal history. We get into some serious debate in this podcast episode and go over the facts of the case as we see it. Do you believe Crum was stung by a wasp? If so, do you think this would actually cause him to violently swerve? Does Crum have a defense? Was this just simple road rage? Does Crum's criminal history play a role? Does it matter that Sanders was passing on a double yellow? Will the Prosecutor get a conviction on Crum? How will a jury see things? How valuable is the video? We talk about these questions and more. We break the video down frame by frame and reveal some very interesting points. You really must listen in to get the real scoop and all the details. Both Sanders and Thompson were wearing motorcycle helmets. A GoFundMe Page has been set up for them. Ep 88LAB-88-Harley Boom Audio Stage 1 & 2 Amp & Speaker Kits-The Real Scoop | Is it worth the money?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-I did an article a few months ago titled "Harley Stage 1 & 2 Speakers with Boom Audio Amplifier Review & Information". There is a ton of useful information over there and I encourage you to take a look before proceeding here. This podcast episode is a follow-up on that basic information. We get deep into the Harley Boom Audio amp and speaker kits and you really just need to listen in. We answer many questions in this episode. Should you get a Harley Boom Audio Stage 1 or 2 system? Which years is this system for? Can you upgrade from a stage 1 to a stage 2 later on? Is the system worth the money? Do you need a dealer download into your Boom Box after you upgrade? Can you install the system yourself? Does it sound good? Are other aftermarket Harley stereo systems better? There is a ton of information bikers need to know before diving into one of these systems. The Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment System comes standard now on 2014 & above Harley Davidson Touring Rushmore Project motorcycles. The stock Boom Box audio system already sounds pretty good compared to previous years, but the Boom Audio Stage 1 & 2 speakers and amplifier kits can make it even better. But, not without a hefty price tag & confusion by dealerships and riders alike. Check out our #1 Rated Harley Boom!™ Box Tutorial Videos Here •Learn everything you need to know along with tips, tricks, and hidden menus. Bikers all over the world have benefited from these videos Hogtunes Install Video: (Great Sounding System Too) •Official Hogtunes Install Video Here In our opinion, Harley Davidson has done a rather poor job explaining the difference between Boom Audio Stage I & Stage II kits. Even on Harley Davidson's own website it can be hard to navigate and understand what components and wiring kits you need to actually purchase based on your needs. Information/Set Up If you run stage 1 speakers up front and in the rear (passenger) then you just need one 4 channel Boom Audio amplifier mounted in the front fairing. One channel goes to each speaker. If you want to run the stage 2 speakers in front and rear then you will need an additional amplifier in the rear mounted in a saddlebag. Each front fairing stage 2 speaker runs on two channels on the 4 channel amp. One channel goes to the mid-range on the speakers and one to the tweeter. Yes, you can also add additional saddlebag lid speakers, powered by the rear 4 channel amp. One channel goes to each of the 4 rear speakers (passenger & lid speakers). That is just a little insight into the confusion and questions we get here at Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast & Media about the Harley Boom Audio system. That just touches the tip of the ice burg so to speak, so listen in to this episode for the rest. Note: If you choose the upgrade with a Boom Audio amplifier then a Dealer Digital Technician software update is required. Basically, they have to flash your Boom!™ Box system to work with the new amp(s). Harley dealerships are charging for this service. ________________________________________________________________ CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE: Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548 Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/scrappy587 Google Plus Page: https://plus.google.com/b/104041070580228657262/+Lawabidingbiker587 Instagram: http://instagram.com/lawabidingbiker RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed iTunes Direct Link to Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087 Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/

Ep 86LAB-86-Harley Engine Idle Temperature Management System (EITMS)-What it is & how to use it |Manage Harley Engine Heat

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com PODCAST-Are you confused or want the real scoop on the Harley-Davidson Engine Idle Temperature Management System (EITMS). Want to know if your Harley is equipped with it? There is confusing and less than useful information out there, so we broke it down for you in this podcast episode. We wanted to break it down in a format that makes sense to law abiding bikers out there. We wrote a full article and did a complete Free tutorial video on the Harley EITMS for you, so check it out. •Turorial Video-Harley-Davidson Engine Idle Temperature Management System-EITMS Basics: EITMS can be used by any rider, but is specifically for those riders who frequently find themselves in riding conditions where the vehicle is subjected to prolonged idle conditions or traffic congestion, the motorcycle is equipped with an Engine Idle Temperature Management System (EITMS) to provide limited cooling of the rear cylinder. Explanation of EITMS in biker terms: When engine temperature reaches a predetermined point at idle, the EITMS will turn off the rear cylinder fuel injector. Idle speed will be maintained, however the rear cylinder will become an "air pump" which will work to cool the engine. The cylinder will suck in air to cool the engine. •Go to our complete article and free tutorial video to learn more about this subject ________________________________________________________________ CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE: Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548 Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/scrappy587 Google Plus Page: https://plus.google.com/b/104041070580228657262/+Lawabidingbiker587 Instagram: http://instagram.com/lawabidingbiker RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed iTunes Direct Link to Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087 Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/
