Ep 183LAB-183-Police Motorcycle Escort School | North American Motor Officer Association | Recent Events

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We discuss the recent Police Motorcycle Escort School Oscar and I recently attended in Spokane, Wa. We try and go to this school each year to stay up to date with practices and procedures. One of the most dangerous things that Police Motor Officers do are escorts. By training often we can minimize the risks associated. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Many Police Motor Agencies in Washington State train together and use the same specific hand signals, practices, and protocols. This is important as many times local agencies will call outside agencies to help with larger scale escorts, like a dignitary escort as an example. It's very important that agencies follow the same rules and practices or risks go way up. It's a good idea for Police Motor Officers to train in an unfamiliar area because it is likely they will be called to do an escort in a city that is not familiar. Pre-rides and safety briefs are done prior to an escort, but unfamiliar roads make it a bit more dangerous. Oscar attended the North American Motor Officer Association training in and competition recently in Hillsboro, Oregon. This event is awesome and lasts about 3 days. Officers throughout North America get together and train hard together for several days before competing. I went last year and really enjoyed it. I was not able to attend this year as I was recently at Police Motor Instructor School in Spokane, Wa for about 2 1/2 weeks. Then I was off to Police Motor Escort School, so it was too much to pack in. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Oscar, Michael, and I discuss these events and schools and give you an inside look. Oscar discusses his brand new 2018 BMW Police R1200RT and I discuss my brand new 2018 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide with Milwaukee-Eight motor. We'll give you our opinions of course and tell you whether the upgrade to a Harley Milwaukee-Eight motor is worth it or not. Remember that no matter what your current motorcycle riding abilities are, always train and push yourself to the next level. Being a good rider and prepared can save your life. Ep 181LAB-181-Harley-Davidson Oil Change/Service at Dealership | What is actually done?

E

Official website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, we reveal to you exactly what is and is not done during a routine 1K or ongoing 5K oil change/service on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle at a dealership. Many Harley owners out there are misinformed and are led to believe that some 200 "secret" checks are done, but this is not the case and rather ridiculous if you think about it. We encourage you to do your own routine oil changes & services on your Harley in your own shop or garage. It is super easy and in our #1 best selling tutorial videos, we show you everything the dealership does and more for these routine services that they charge upwards of $400 for! Harley Oil Change/Service Videos Available: Harley Davidson Oil Change, Service, & Safety Inspection-PRE-Milwaukee 8 Harley Milwaukee-Eight Routine Oil Change, Service, & Safety Inspection The price for these high definition tutorial videos is nothing really as they pay for themselves over and over again! No, changing the oil and servicing your own Harley DOES NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY and it can't. You are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act and your dealership personnel will tell you so. You just need to save your product purchase receipts and sign the back of your owner's manual for the services you do! We here at Law Abiding Biker Media, Inc. service our Harley's ourselves of course. However, due to contracts and department practices, I am required to have my issued Police Harley-Davidson Electra Glide serviced at a dealership. Because of this, I learn a ton of actual real-world information that I can share with the community here. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Please understand, I have nothing but the utmost respect for certified Harley mechanics and I have several that are friends. I gather real information from them to relate to you. I am in no way talking badly about those Harley mechanics or dealerships. I am just relating the facts so you can be more informed about what actually occurs on one of these routine Harley oil changes/services. On my most recent oil change/service on my 2018 Police Harley Electra Glide with the Milwaukee-Eight motor, I spent time with mechanics while they serviced my bike. By doing so, I re-confirmed what I had learned years earlier. They do nothing more than what we show you in our Harley oil change/service tutorial videos. And, we actually show you a few additional things in those videos along with many tips and tricks. You must understand that motorcycle and car dealerships alike have very specific protocols for servicing vehicles. That means if their service book says that a routine Harley oil change and service takes 3.5 hrs (and the book does say this) then that is what you will be billed for regardless if they get it done sooner. This is nothing new, but surprisingly many Harley and car owners alike do not know this. No, the mechanics don't check every bolt and torque on your Harley as some out there believe. This would be absurd anyway. They may check the front and rear axle bolt torques as an example, but that would be all as they are more critical components. Much of what they check is visual and if there is no problem spotted then nothing is done further and it is checked off the list. An example would be visually checking oil, fuel lines, fluid levels, brake pads, belts, sprockets etc. In addition to visual inspections, much can be checked when the mechanic takes your Harley out for a test ride after the oil change. Lights, throttle, switches, shocks, and clutch are just a few. If the bike is running great and all feels to work well then nothing further is needed. I was provided with a .pdf inspection sheet that the mechanic prints out to make sure he/she checks the most important things. It is a list of about 40 things, many being visual inspections. It is nowhere near 200 items. Tire pressure, tread, brake pads, oil change, fluid levels, and filters are common things during a routine service of course. Again, we show you all this in our awesome tutorial videos. Listen in to learn more as we go through each item that was checked or done at the dealership to my Police Harley when receiving a routine service and oil change. After you listen and view one of our Harley oil change/service videos you'll wonder why you ever paid that much money at a dealership. Plus, there's no better feeling than servicing and taking pride in your Harley. Ep 179LAB-179-My New 2018 Police Harley Electra Glide Milwaukee-Eight!

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com I have been riding and training on my 2013 Police Harley Electra Glide for some time now. I love this bike and work on it daily as a Motorcycle Police Officer. I am retiring this bike that now has about 30,000 miles on it, which is standard for the agency I work for. It will become a spare bike and mostly sit. I'm being issued a brand new 2018 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Police Edition and I'm super excited. These Police Harley's come stock with a bunch of emergency equipment, wiring, and switches. We also have to customize them locally with radios and computers. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Listen in as we discuss my new Police Harley. My 2013 has the 103 motor and a cable clutch. My new 2018 Harley will have the 107 ci Milwaukee-Eight motor and a hydraulic clutch. Switching from a Harley cable to hydraulic clutch can take some time when riding aggressively on training courses, but it's not a big deal for me as my personal 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special has a hydraulic clutch. Generally speaking, a cable clutch has a little bigger gray area than a hydraulic. For years, we adjusted our cable clutch to exactly where we wanted it to engage when we let the lever out. GET OUR HARLEY MILWAUKEE-EIGHT ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGE VIDEO HERE With a hydraulic clutch there are no adjustments at all. However, we are testing some aftermarket adjustable clutch levers for our police Harley's and are liking them. I will do a future video review of what model of adjustable lever we decide on, so stay tuned and make sure you are subscribed to our YouTube Channel. My 2013 Police Harley is a pre-2014 Rushmore model. My 2013 bike shakes quit a bit, especially at idle. This new 2018 Harley is amazing and they got ride of a ton of shaking and vibration with the Milwaukee-Eight motor. The power increase is very noticeable too. I have already ridden new Police Milwaukee-Eight bikes and the transition will be fairly easy for me. This bike is powerful and smooth. Listen in as we give you an inside look and details on what it takes to get up and running with a Police Harley. It is quite a process before the bike is ready to hit the road. I actually stripped down the two new Harley's we got. I removed the fairings, seats, and fuel tanks to give our radio & computer guys access to equip the bikes. I will put the bikes back together when they are done. Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Ep 178LAB-178-Replacing & Flushing Harley Brake Fluid-Harley Voluntary Recall-DIY

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode, Oscar and I fill you in on the recent voluntary Harley-Davidson brake fluid recall and their recommendation to replace/flush your brake fluid every two years regardless of mileage. We spent the day flushing & replacing the brake fluid in my 2014 Harley Street Glide Special and on Oscar's 2013 Harley Ultra Classic in the Law Abiding Biker shop. Of course, we filmed this and it will eventually release on our YouTube channel, so you too can perform this task. There is no need to take your Harley to a dealership. We'll show you how to do it and how easy it is. Make sure you're subscribed to our YouTube Channel, so you're notified when we come out with tutorial videos like this. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Here are some affiliate links to what we used to do this project. No additional cost to you, but if you click through and make a purchase we get a small commision. MV8000 Automotive Tune-up and Brake Bleeding Kit Used this for years and it works great Mityvac MV6835 Vacuum Brake Bleeding Kit What we used for this film project and loved it! Brake Fluid Tester - calibrated for DOT 4 brake fluids We also mention our Harley Milwaukee-Eight Oil Change and Routine Maintenance Video. The owner's manual now says to test the brake fluid with a tester. Get the video and save money by not having to take your Harley to a dealership to have a simple oil change and service done. Understand, that bleeding your Harley brakes and flushing the system is basically the same process. When just bleeding your brakes to get rid of air, you just add fluid to the master cylinder until you get the air out. You are mixing the new fluid with the old. When you are actually flushing and replacing your brake fluid, you suck the master cylinder dry and then put new fluid in and bleed the brake system until all the old fluid is evacuated, thus having all new fluid in the brake system. This brake fluid issue is not specific to Harley as all motorcycles use much of the same brake fluid. Harley was just getting ahead of the game and recommending changing it out every two years to avoid any problems. You should do this on your motorcycle regardless of what make. Check out awesome motorcycle tutorial videos here! Brake fluid is cheap, so if you do this brake flush yourself in your own shop or garage, you'll only spend $6-$10 on the brake fluid. Also, know that brake fluid captures moisture, so don't keep your bottle of brake fluid after you open it on the shelf for future use. Once you open it and use what you need, get rid of the rest. Buy a new bottle the next time. Here is a good article from Harley-Davidson about the voluntary recall and the need to replace your brake fluid every two years. Don't mind the part where they say to have a certified technician perform the flush. Harley-Davidson article on changing your brake fluid This is just an overview of the information in this podcast episode. You'll definitely need to listen in to get all the details and necessary information. Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Ep 176LAB-176-LEAD ACID VS. LITHIUM-ION MOTORCYCLE BATTERIES

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Every biker will eventually have to replace the battery on your motorcycle. Many bikers wonder if they should get an old lead-acid or replace it with a newer lithium-ion motorcycle battery. There are many things to consider before making this decision and we break it down for you in this podcast episode. Good quality lithium-ion motorcycle batteries are lighter, smaller, charge faster, hold their charge longer, last longer overall, have better warranties, & often have more cold cranking amps. They are however more expensive than a lead-acid, but the cost may be well worth it. On average a lithium-ion battery costs 30% more than a lead-acid. You'll also need a lithium-ion specific battery tender. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The first possible drawback to a lithium-ion is that if you let it fall to below 11 volts by accidentally leaving your headlight as an example, you may permanently damage the battery. Whereas, a lead-acid in good shape could be charged and likely recover. I drained my lithium-ion motorcycle battery to less than 1 volt and it recovered just fine, but it was rather new. The second drawback, not really in my opinion, to a lithium-ion motorcycle battery, is that if you leave your motorcycle out in temperatures below freezing for an extended period of time, you'll have to "wake" the battery to get it cycling. This is easily done by turning your headlight on for a short period or bumping the starter a few times. Once awake, you lithium-ion goes to work fast and gives you those cold cranking amps. These are just some of the things you need to know about lithium-ion vs. lead-acid motorcycle batteries........ Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We talk about the new and completed Law Abiding Biker Shop & Studio in this episode! We are mostly moved into the new facility and this was our first official broadcast from it. This was a live Patron Member only live video broadcast. We had a lot of fun live chatting with our beloved Patron Members. We just want to thank everyone that helped make the new shop and studio a reality through our fundraiser campaign, Patron member pledges, donations, shopping in our store, and buying our premium videos. The support has been awesome and we could not have done it without the support of the law abiding biker community. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE We talk about some of the things that got scaled back due to available funds that we can hopefully later complete. Overall, we got most of the main things done for the new facility and we are happy to be podcasting and filming out of it. We have air conditioning in the main studio that can run while podcasting! No more sweatshop! We have space in the shop to actually move around and film! My wife got her garage back and my daughter's got their bonus room back. They have all selflessly given those up for the past 5 years as they support our mission to help as many bikers as we can worldwide. Lurch and Big Daddy also recently built new personal shops. We do a roundtable discussion and talk about things you should consider when building a new shop and what the different options are. We all did things a bit different, so you should get some good insight. You only get one shot when investing in and building a new shop, so make sure you put some thought into it. 2018 Patron Meetup and Ride Details: As usual, the meetup and ride this year will be for Patron Members only. We will give some general details publicly here, but to get all the details to include times and locations, you'll have to communicate with us directly. This can be done in the private Patron Only Facebook Group. We are compiling a list of each member that plans to attend. We'll be in touch with you and give the full details as the date approaches. The one day event will take place on June 24, 2018 and we'll meet at a location near Papillion, Nebraska. We'll meet in the morning and do a planned day ride together. Then we'll ride to a location in the Omaha, Nebraska area for a social event and provided dinner. The day ride will be about 3 hours saddle time and include a lunch and fuel stop. This should give you a good idea on the event, so you can decide if you will be able to attend. We must know of your attendance no later than May 31, 2018, for planning and cost purposes. Ep 174LAB-174-Interview With Ryan Urlacher-CEO of Law Abiding Biker Media

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com This is an interview with me, Ryan Urlacher, CEO of Law Abiding Biker Media. I was contacted by freelance writer Janalee Chmel as she wanted to write a story on me for one, if not two different magazine publications. The story is at least going to appear in a tattoo magazine called Inkspired. Yes, I have tattoos and am a biker, so she thought it was fitting. Janalee has been following the Law Abiding Biker Podcast, our YouTube Channel, our website articles, our online motorcycle store, and joined our email club to learn all she could about us. She was also very interested in our Exclusive Patron Membership and benefits. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE I recorded this interview and let you listen in as Janalee asks me a ton of great questions. She really digs in and gets behind the scenes of Law Abiding Biker Media and how I, Ryan Urlacher, founded and continue to run Law Abiding Biker Media with all its different aspects. I share many of my thoughts from the past 5 years since the inception of Law Abiding Biker Media back in March of 2013. I started this endeavor back then with nothing more than an iPad, microphone, and computer and used my daughter's closet as a soundproof recording room. Wow, we have come along way since then. We also discuss some of the hard times we've endured, such as our recent December 2017 online store storage facility fire where we lost all of our inventory and were not insured for it. I give you my deepest thoughts on the matter and what it's taking to try and rebuild that particular part of the business. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Law Abiding Biker Media has grown rapidly in the last 5 years and we continue to move forward into the future. Everyone behind the scenes here continues to put in countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears to serve the motorcycle/biker community. We could not have gotten to where we are without the support of that community, which I am still humbled by each day. Law Abiding Biker Media, Inc Mission Statement: Helping as many bikers as we can worldwide using media to educate, entertain, and build a trusted online biker community. Ep 172LAB-172-The Last Motorcycle on Earth Indie Film Series-Writer/Director Eric Ristau

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com The Last Motorcycle on Earth is being filmed in Missoula, Montana by Writer, Director, and Cinematographer Eric Ristau on a shoestring budget and it's a true passion project for him. I interviewed Eric back on podcast episode #68 about his Sit, Stay, Ride Sidecar Dogs Documentary Film. In this episode, I have the pleasure of talking with Eric and his lead actor and co-producer of the film, Neil Olson. Also involved in the film is Eric's wife, Geneva Ristau, who is a co-producer and editor. Eric is part of the law abiding biker community and produces great films for bikers. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE It is not cheap to create films such as this and the expenses are piling up. So far, everything has been done out of pocket and on a tight budget. Eric has started an Indiegogo Fundraiser to assist with expensive items such as visual effects, sound mixing, and music composition and the fundraiser ends mid-May 2018. These things would give the film more value for the audience. There are rewards dependant on your contribution amount. Top rewards include a speaking role in the movie and more! It is yet to be determined if this will be a stand-alone film or spawn into a series. I will definitely be supporting Eric and the crew in moving forward! This motorcycle film looks so promising and I'm excited about it after watching the official trailer! The Last Motorcycle on Earth is a dramatic series about a vintage motorcycle collector and bike builder, Conrad Mendel, as he grapples with a new world of technology that threatens to destroy his passion and way of life. Self-driving cars are taking over. Silicon Valley and the United States Government have collaborated to push society toward a fully-autonomous transportation system. Motorcycles and riders are an easy first target in the drive to ban human-operated vehicles. Impossible, you say? Not so fast. Summary: The story centers on a small group of motorcyclists facing down the federal government and the tech industry as society is pushed to ban motorcycles, petroleum and transition to self-driving cars. Produced by professional indie filmmakers and avid motorcyclists in Missoula, Montana. This show is being made by the skin of our teeth and the thin tread on our tires. Ep 171LAB-171-Learn About the Iron Legacy Motorcycle Club-Interview-Guest Ray Lubesky | PT 2 of 2

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com This is part two of two of my podcast interview with Ray "Izod" Lubesky, the International President of the Iron Legacy Motorcycle Club. Ray Lubesky was one of the founding members of the Iron Order MC, but is now with the Iron Legacy MC. Lubeksy says he was expelled from the Iron Order MC along with other members over disagreements in the club's direction. At that point, Lubesky and others started the Iron Legacy Motorcycle Club which now has chapters in the United States and abroad. Of course, the Iron Order Motorcycle Club still exists under new leadership. Past Interview with Lubesky when he was with the Iron Order MC: Episode #65-Iron Order Motorcycle Club-Official Podcast Interrogation-Part 1 of 2 Episode #64-Iron Order Motorcycle Club-Official Podcast Interrogation-Part 2 of 2 We dive deep into everything you need to know about this club. The Iron Legacy claims to be a law abiding club and I can find no credible evidence to the contrary. The Iron Legacy MC is not a Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (LEMC) nor do they claim such. They do have law enforcement members along with many other members from different walks of like. I ask Lubesky the tough questions in this interview as there is controversy that surrounds him and the Iron Legacy MC, which was also the case when he was with the Iron Order MC. You will definitely want to listen in on both podcast episodes dedicated to this interview. You won't hear an interview like this on any other motorcycle/biker podcast out there. The Iron Order is a very large international motorcycle club. Like all law-abiding biker clubs should do, they refuse to follow the "Confederation of Clubs" (COC) rules. The COC has no authority over free members of the motorcycling community. They have no authority over anyone unless you willfully let them control you. For the most part, only the criminal biker community gives them any attention. Criminal bikers make up far less than 1% of all bikers/motorcyclists on the road. Instead, the Iron Legacy is a part of the Alliance of Motorcycle Clubs, which is for law-abiding biker clubs. The Alliance was created to promote fellowship and networking amongst law-abiding biker clubs. There is no fee to belong to The Alliance, but there is an MOU. About the Iron Legacy MC: Taken from their website: On July 4, 2004 several men gathered in a garage in Indiana to found a unique law abiding club that was beholden to none. That club grew to become a huge family of brothers that paved the way for others to follow. In 2015 many of these brothers decided to start a new club to continue the Legacy of those founding principles and beliefs established in 2004. Our oaths to those founding principles and that club are intact, honored and followed to the letter as we carry that torch with us to this honorable endeavor of perseverance and continuance before those very ideals are lost to change forever. This is our opportunity to reignite the old school, traditional heritage of MC's from the 50's and early 60's, following those traditions and close brotherhood all clubs seek. Our history is built on those premises established 14 years ago and we're starting our 15th year as Iron Legacy MC. Not a new beginning, but a return to the origins we swore our allegiance to that brought us together years ago with new horizons. Ep 169LAB-169-Cam Upgrades on Your Harley-Davidson & Stage Kits 101? What You Need to Know

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com A Harley-Davidson cam upgrade on your engine can provide more power for certain RPM ranges, which is completely dependent on what style aftermarket cam you purchase. A more extreme cam can also make your bike run in a way that's not optimal for your type of riding. A cam upgrade after the original purchase of your Harley from a dealership will also likely void your factory and/or extended engine warranty. Additionally, cams and installs can get rather costly. So, many considerations need to be made before you make a decision to upgrade your Harley cam. Note: We are not experts on Harley cam upgrades, but we are simply trying to relate general and basic knowledge to help the average everyday biker out there. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE With so many aftermarket Harley cams available and so much improper information in the spam filled online Harley forums, we wanted to record this podcast episode to help the average everyday biker out there decide and navigate through the smoke and mirrors, as to help all make an educated decision on whether or not to upgrade the cam on a Harley. We break it down Law Abiding Biker style! I had Oscar & Big Daddy on the mics with me and they are both well versed in Harley cam upgrades. Don't worry, listen in and you'll see we break it down and don't get overly technical on this subject-just what you need to know. By installing a cam upgrade on your Harley, you can increase horsepower or torque by essentially changing your valve timing. You'll be letting the exhaust out and fuel/air in at very specific times. By changing this timing, you can increase maximum torque in different ranges, such as low or high. It's all about the "grind" of your cam and that can get really technical. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Why doesn't Harley use better stock cams? A stock cam in your Harley provides a safe range and tries to do everything "okay" through all the ranges and it's EPA compliant. You'll see nothing great at the low or high end, but the bike will start well and run well for the average everyday rider out there. And, let's not forget that a very large portion of Harley-Davidson's income is from selling performance aftermarket parts and charging high labor rates to install such parts. They'd lose much money if they put a better stock cam in the motor at the factory. Question to ask yourself: Before a cam upgrade on your Harley, you'll want to ask yourself-what model of Harley engine do you have and what kind of riding do you do? Maybe you're riding a bagger with a passenger and you want low-end torque to take off quicker up to a certain RPM? Or, maybe you'll choose more of a horsepower cam and would like horsepower to kick in at a higher mid-range RPM, so when you roll the throttle to pass a car it's there for you? Check out awesome motorcycle tutorial videos here! You'll also want to decide if you want a regular or high lift cam. With a high lift cam, you'll need to have a modified high flow head. You'll have to have polished intake and exhaust ports or even have the ports made bigger (ported). You'll have to replace things like stronger valve springs and larger valves and so on. This can get in depth and expensive quick. An aftermarket cam for your Harley can push your valves up farther or keep them open longer, creating different levels of torque and/or horsepower. A high lift cam will push the valve deeper into the cylinder and keep it open longer. A high lift cam will likely give your engine that "loping" sound at idle as you often hear in muscle cars. Basically, a low-end cam is about improving torque, while a high lift cam is about horsepower. You'll want to decide if you want a chain or gear driven cam. For more information on that subject, you'll want to listen to Podcast Episode #73. Your stock Harley cam is chain driven out of the factory. Generally speaking, gear driven cams for Harley are a bit more reliable long-term. Gear driven cams do whine a bit over the stock chain driven cams. Gear driven cam kits are a bit more expensive than chain and a little more is involved on the install as you'll have to measure crank run out with a dial gauge and make sure the cam is still true etc. What are the Harley stage kits? Harley basically has four different stage kits, such as stage one, stage two & so on. Basically, those kits are put together by Harley and the parts included in the kits work well together. By getting a Harley stage kit you don't have to spend a bunch of time researching and piecing things out. As the stage kits get higher in number the more parts and labor are involved. But, higher number stage kits are well beyond just getting a new cam. A stage one kit is basic air intake and exhaust all the way up to stage 4, which will be a large project such as air intake, exhaust, larger pistons, cam and more. This is a basic explanation and

Ep 168LAB-168-Smaller Harley Riders & Females-Does Size Matter? | Modifications, Tips, & Tricks

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Smaller Harley rider? This episode is a result of a voicemail we got from listener Stephanie Crabtree of Kansas City, Missouri. She asked about Harley's and smaller rider issues, mainly females. She wanted to know what would be a good Harley for her at 5-03 and 120 lbs. She wanted our opinions on this issue and that's exactly what we give in this episode. This begs the question-does size matter? Yah, I said it. Stephanie also wanted to know about females in a club setting and whether she should join one, so we touch on that too. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The size of Harley you purchase is often determined by your riding experience and not size necessarily, as some modifications to the larger models can be made. We'll talk about that later. Our suggestion for a newer smaller Harley rider is the Street or Sportster models as they are smaller, lighter, and cost less. You could move into one of the smaller Softail models from there. I will say that even if you're a smaller Harley rider, you shouldn't be scared off by the bigger Harley touring models. If you use proper riding and control techniques, you can easily handle a larger bike. Size doesn't really matter that much when controlling a motorcycle. Being bigger will help you if you have to lift the motorcycle after dropping it though. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Jumping on a bigger taller bike can be a challenge for a smaller Harley rider when it comes to stopping and touching the ground. Some modifications can be made to the motorcycle such as lower rear shocks and a lower profile seat. You can certainly drop inches doing these mods. You could also wear boots with thicker type soles, thus adding inches of reach. These are just a few tricks. Be careful not to go to the extreme with the Harley mods or you'll lose the rideability of the bike. This article is just a glimpse into some of the information we reveal in this podcast episode, so you'll need to listen in for the rest. We also give our opinions on whether or not Stephanie should join a motorcycle club and what type. Ep 167LAB-167-Rickrak Quick Detach Luggage, Saddlebag Safety Pins, Gas Kap Keeper, & More!

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We are happy to announce that we brought some awesome Rickrak products to the Law Abiding Biker Store for all you Bikaholics. Yup, products by Rickrak get our full stamp of approval and we've tried, tested, and use these products. We talk about many of the Rickrak products in this episode and what we learned about them. We'll definitely give you some things to think about. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE FOR RICKRAK! Shane and his dad Rick Riffel, a father-son team out of Huntersville, NC, have developed a unique quick detach luggage system for Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles. And it's the best in our opinion! In less than 10 seconds you can have your luggage off and on your Harley or Indian! And no more luggage straps slapping your paint. Those days are gone for good. The Rickrak is sturdy, yet light. Videos: Check out our YouTube Channel or this website and use the search bars to search for "Rickrak". We've done a multitude of free video reviews and installs of Rickrak products. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! You also gotta check out Rickrak's high-quality Harley Saddlebag Safety Bolts. We've tested many similar products and we believe Rickrak's are the best out there by far. They are super high quality and used by the crew here. Beware of the cheap stock pins that hold your Harley bags on. There have been recalls and lawsuits over bags falling off over the years. And, never lose or leave your motorcycle gas cap again. If you're like me, I take it off and put it on top of the dirty pump. Yup, I've seen many biker friends leave the cap behind and they are not cheap at all to replace. Plus, you're picking up grime that can then be introduced to your fuel system. With the simple Gas Kap Keeper Magnet by Rickrak, you won't leave it behind anymore. It installs in seconds and you can then stick your gas cap to your tank, ignition, or anywhere else metal. And, it has a super awesome protective coat, so it won't scratch your paint. Listen in to this episode to get all these details and much more. Ep 166LAB-166-Motorcycle Group Riding & Hand Signals-Best Practices

E

Official website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-We here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media, Inc. do plenty of group motorcycle riding. We ride thousands of miles cross country each year in a group riding setting. We also ride in all different city environments as a group. We are very comfortable riding in a very close group and two abreast, handlebar to handlebar. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE! Our comfort level comes from experience and time riding motorcycles together. Group riding should not be taken lightly and needs to be practiced. If particular individuals have never ridden in a group together then I strongly suggest an experienced group rider should give a quick briefing and go over the basics as a reminder to all involved riders. At times we get new riders in our group at we give a briefing for safety purposes. We don't ride nearly as close if we're integrating a new rider(s) into the group until such time they become experienced and we evaluate them. These are all things that each group needs to take into account. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! You really need to listen in to this episode, as we go over many details and best practices for group riding based on our training and experience. I am a certified full-time Law Enforcement Motorcycle Officer and will give you some insight into the way we group ride and why. Ep 165LAB-165-Renting & Riding a Motorcycle in Maui, Hawaii | Best Rides on the Island

E

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode, both Popeye and I talk about our recent experiences with renting a Harley and riding in Maui, Hawaii. We actually went completely separate times and had different experiences. We were just talking about it for the first time on this episode. The cool thing is that we both rode somewhat different routes. Popeye has also ridden another Island and tells you which experience was better. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE! There are some rather unimproved roads in Maui and certain roads require a bit more riding experience. Don't worry, there are also plenty of easier roads and we'll give you the details based on your riding experience. We discuss in depth how our Harley rental experience went. We provide you with some best practices, tips, and tricks if you are going to rent a Harley in Maui. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! We highly recommend that if you are going to visit Maui to rent a Harley and spend a day riding the Island. There are some beautiful roads and scenery and you'll never forget the experience. So, take a listen and see if riding Maui is on your "must ride" list. My Ride: I was riding with my 12-year-old daughter and opted out of the long and popular Hana Highway (Hwy 360) this time around. I didn't just want to hammer down all day like I'd do by myself. I figured I can do that ride next time I go to Hawaii. I rode out of Kannapali to the north around Hwy 30 up around the top of the Island and planned to keep going back down the east side of the Island along Hwy 340 into Kahului. However, up around the Nakalele Blowhole they had the road shut down due to construction. This would normally be about a 1 1/2 hour ride with no stops. But there are plenty of sights that you'll want to stop see along the way. We had to turn around and go back down Hwy 30 along the west side of Maui and crossed east along Hwy 380 into Kahului. This was a beautiful ride and we really enjoyed it. We ate at Da Kitchen located at 425 Koloa St., Suite 104 Kahului, HI 96732. It was featured on the Food Networks show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The food was outstanding and I highly recommend it. Popeye's Ride: Popeye had his wife along and she can hang in the saddle a bit longer than my 12-year-old daughter. They opted to ride out of Kaanapali and did ride the famous Hwy 360, Hana Highway. They really liked the ride and said it was beautiful, but expect isolated rain as it's a rainforest. Also, that ride for them was about 3 hours one way with no stops (77 miles). Ad another 3 hrs to return and you're looking at 6 hours saddle time with no stops. And there are a ton of stops along the Hana Highway and you'll likely want to eat at some point. So, that is a super long day, so just understand that if you choose that ride. Additionally, after riding the Hana Highway, they rode up the east side of the Island to the north out of Kahului along Hwy 340 and their plan was to continue around the north side of the Island via Hwy 3o. This is the way my daughter and I tried, but the opposite direction. Well, they too were stopped by the road construction and turned around. Riding this additional loop would add an additional 1 1/2 hrs to the ride with no stops. Again, there are things you'll want to stop and see in my opinion. Popeye and his wife didn't do much stopping and just laid down miles. If you are going to do both of these routes in one day, then just plan on throttling down with very little time to stop. You'll have to decide if you want to just plain ride or have some time to stop and see things. Further on Hana Highway: Although Hāna is only about 52 miles (84 km) from Kahului, it takes about 2.5 hours to ride when no stops are made as the highway is very winding and narrow and passes over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one lane wide. There are approximately 620 curves along Route 360 from just east of Kahului to Hāna, virtually all of it through lush, tropical rainforest. Ep 164LAB-164-Is Harley-Davidson Going Out of Business in 2018? | Closing?

Official website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we talk about a YouTube video that was being passed around recently by some click bait channel called "Company Man". The title of that video reads "The Problem Facing Harley-Davidson" and the description reads "Harley-Davidson is the biggest name in motorcycles...but they've seen better days. This video discusses the big problem they are facing." and nothing more. No, I'm not linking to that video as it's clearly biased. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE! We won't completely trash the video or the creator as it at least brings up some points for discussion, so thanks for that. Be careful with channels like this as we can't confirm the guy who made this video even rides or is involved in the motorcycle industry at all. He just took a bunch of video clips he got elsewhere online and made a voiceover with different information he found. He's likely not even qualified to speak about this issue. We think it's mostly hype about Harley-Davidson having any sort of substantial problems and we don't think they have any more than they always have. Many articles are floating around the internet on this subject, very few being credible. This has been going on for a long time and of course, Harley-Davidson is the longtime leader in the United States. Many competitors want them to go down and so this sort of propaganda floats around. That happens to every big leading company, regardless of the industry. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! We really break it down in this episode, so you'll have to listen in to find out the truths and of course our opinions. Yes, because we are actual bikers and involved in the biker industry, unlike the creator of that particular video. I'm not biased. Heck, I'd be the first to tell you if I believed Harley had any new or major issues. With that said, Harley has been changing and trying new things for some time and they'll need to continue to be very progressive to stay relevant or they will face serious problems. Clearly, Harley knows they have to step up their game and change with the times. They have several other manufacturers biting at their heels and trying to get a piece of the pie. Ep 163LAB-163-Is Royal Enfield Taking on Harley-Davidson?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this podcast we discuss Royal Enfield motorcycles and their place in the motorcycling industry. Is Royal Enfield an actual competitor to Harley-Davidson? Enfield has a largely negligible presence in the U.S., and its bikes typically have small engines compared to the big bore bikes Harley produces. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE! In late 2017, Royal Enfield introduced in India its first big twin-engine motorcycle. They introduced the interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650, bikes that will compete head-to-head with Harley's Street 750. India only accounts for around 2% of Harley-Davidson's total sales, but it owns 60% of the big bike market there and a local player with a vastly larger distribution network could certainly create problems. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Royal Enfield is very popular and vastly outsells Harley-Davidson. However, Royal Enfield may be trying to get a bigger piece of the pie in the U.S. market. In the United States, Harley-Davidson has around 700 dealerships and Enfield only has just a few dozen in the U.S. and Canada. That said, Enfield's bikes could strike a chord with the emerging domestic motorcycle buyer. Ep 160LAB-160-Carrying a Firearm While Riding Motorcycles-Bikers & Handguns | What you need to know

E

Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-This episode was a direct result of Patreon Member Russell Roberts. He gave me the topic idea some time ago and he happened to be in town, so we grabbed the mics and spit this episode for you. Lurch was also in the studio and weighed in. Russell Roberts is like many law abiding bikers out there and exercises his 2nd Amendment Rights to carry a firearm while riding his motorcycle when he legally can. He wants to follow the rules, but that can be confusing, especially when traveling across State lines. Different States have different rules. Some States have reciprocity agreements and may recognize another State's concealed carry permit. Other States don't recognize any permit except their own. In some States, you can open carry and in others, you can't. It gets just plain confusing for most. Lurch and I are full-time Law Enforcement Officers and can carry across all State lines and in places others can't. We forget all the rules regular citizens have to try and navigate. This is why it was great to have Russell in the studio to give the perspective of a regular citizen and what he's learned. He gives some great advice and some great resources for bikers who want to carry a concealed weapon (see below resources). You really must listen to this entire episode if you are a motorcycle enthusiast and also exercise your right to carry a concealed firearm. E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Many of us here at Law Abiding Biker Media are part of the Sworn Few Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (SFMC). In this two-part series we give you an inside look into a 4-day motorcycle trip we took to Northern California and Reno, Nevada. The SFMC Mother Chapter, based out of Yakima, Washington, had a very specific mission and purpose for this road trip and that was to meet up with a crew in a prospective chapter status out of the San Bernardino, California area to give them full SFMC Chapter status, but they didn't know it was going to happen! In addition, the SFMC Mother Chapter has grown and some of the crew had requested to break off and form the Red Mountain Chapter, which would be based out of the Tri-Cities, Washington area. They didn't know they were going to get full chapter status either! So we had a lot of surprises to deliver. We had a large complement of SFMC members and associates along for the trip and we had an outstanding time.

They didn't k now they were going to get full chapter status either! So we had a lot of surprises to deliver. We had a large complement of SFMC members and associates along for the trip and we had an outstanding time. Ep 156LAB-156-Interview With Ciro 3D President Aero Rudd-Harley Aftermarket Parts!

E

Podcast-In this episode I had the pleasure of interviewing Aero Rudd, the President and Founder of Ciro 3D. Aero and his design team are hard at work making Ciro 3D the hottest new line of aftermarket parts for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Law Abiding Biker has embraced Ciro 3D products after installing many of them on our personal bikes. The parts are of the highest quality and their array of lighting products are plug-and-play. This makes it easy for bikers to install right in their very own shop or garage. That means less money spent paying a dealership to do the install. We like Ciro 3D products so much, we brought them right to the Official Law Abiding Biker Online Store! Ciro 3D has numerous accessories, rider comfort, style, and performance products for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Check out their chrome, lighting, cams, exhaust, and air intakes. The Ciro 3D style products are easy to install with no modifying, cutting, grinding or welding, making for an easy installation. Ciro 3D has over 200 products already and that number is growing along with their popularity. We have already released several completely free Ciro 3D product install videos on the Law Abiding Biker YouTube Channel, so make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss out. We will be releasing many more Ciro 3D product review and install videos. Aero had an advantage and got exposed to the motorcycle parts industry at a young age. His father founded both Kuryakyn and Drag Specialties. Aero worked in all different capacities within Kuryakyn and learned the industry well. Aero actually hired 3 long time experienced Kuryakyn designers to work for him at Ciro 3D. Ciro 3D is based out of Hudson, Wisconsin and you can find them at many major motorcycle rallies, so make sure and stop by their space and say hi. They have many parts with them at the rallies and have great on the spot install deals! Oh, and tell them that Law Abiding Biker Media sent you. Ep 155LAB-155-New Media Studio & Shop-Law Abiding Biker | Biker Revolution Continues!

E

Podcast-Joining me in the studio were Patron Member Russell Roberts and Matt "Lurch" Couchman! We did this episode Live you our Youtube Channel originally. Join the Biker Revolution! Many in our awesome Law Abiding Biker community have begged us to put up this page and want to help us take things into the future. It's a Biker Revolution! What we need help with? We are trying to build a new shop/garage space and studio for recording podcasts and filming more tutorial and review videos. I have been saving for years, but I need help to see it through in a timely manner. And, so things can be done right. GO TO OUR STUDIO & SHOP FUNDRAISER PAGE HERE AND GET INVOLVED! History: Law Abiding Biker Media began in March 2013 with nothing and we've never looked back as we have seen rapid growth. We have been working tirelessly to help as many bikers/motorcyclists as we can worldwide via our weekly Podcast and YouTube Channel. Did you know? Behind the scenes, we all still work full-time LEO jobs and do this on the side out of a pure passion to help & connect with bikers. Our online community members continue to support us and are the reason we keep growing. We incur many expenses to create and get the constant content out to bikers. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! My family sacrifices: My wife of 21 years and two daughters (7 & 12) have sacrificed along with me and understand my mission and passion. They have lost time with me and have given up our entire garage and their beloved bonus playroom above the garage as Law Abiding Biker growth needs took them away over the past 4 plus years. Working for you in the sweatshop: The crew here have all sweated because of no sufficient AC for years while recording podcasts in the bonus room & garage. Out of space if we want to grow: We are simply out of space and need more space to take this platform into the future to continue to help bikers. And some needed upgrades. And, I'd love to give my family their garage and bonus room back. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE! Ep 154LAB-154-Film Day in the Shop-Oil Change & Service on a Harley Milwaukee-Eight

E

Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Matt "Lurch" Couchman, Rick "Big Daddy" Kane, and Brian "Grunt" White spent the day in the Law Abiding Biker Grage. We were filming a complete service, oil change, and service on a Harley-Davidson with a Milwaukee-Eight engine! In this episode, we give you a behind the scenes look. The Harley dealership that performed the 1K break in service on this 2017 Road Glide did not do several things properly we found. You must hear our findings, so you can be aware what to look for! We also tell you why it's not worth your money to buy these oil change and service packages from the dealership when purchasing a new Harley. Brian will tell you the truth and he tested it. Note: Understand that the problems we found were that of one unnamed Harley dealership. We know many great Harley mechanics and dealerships. We have found similar problems like this from a few other dealerships. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE! It doesn't matter if you have the 107 ci or 114 ci engine as the service is the same. It doesn't matter what model you have as what we teach you is the same. We are going to show you exactly what the Harley dealerships do and charge you $300 to $400 for every 5k miles. We are going to show you even more than they actually do. The best part is you'll have the pure satisfaction of wrenching on your own Harley right in your very own shop or garage. You'll know things were done right. It's a great feeling!! Ep 152LAB-152-Switching From Victory (Polaris) to Harley-Davidson | Should You?

E

Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Rick "Big Daddy" Kane and Brian White were in the studio with me after spending the day filming and installing Vance & Hines Power Dual headers on Brian's 2017 Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight Road Glide Special. These headers get rid of your catalytic converter (cat), opening up the flow, increasing power & sound, & greatly reducing heat on the rider. Cats create a large amount of heat. SUPPORT US AND CHECK OUT OUR AWESOME MOTORCYCLE TUTORIAL VIDEOS! We also installed Vance & Hines Titan 450 Over-Sized slip on mufflers for an awesome power boost, great sound, and good look. We finished by installing a Harley-Davidson stage-one air intake and mapped the electronic fuel injection (EFI) with a Vance & Hines Fuelpak 3 EFI tuner after making these modifications. Make sure you are subscribed to our YouTube Channel, so you are notified when these install and review videos are released. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Brian was a Victory owner for many years and recently bought this denim black 2017 Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight Road Glide Special. Rick and I question Brian as to his thought process for switching from Victory to Harley-Davidson. One big consideration, of course, is Polaris', owner of Victory, recent decision to cease all production of the Victory line. Brian brings some interesting points to the discussion. He discusses which bike he likes better and why. You really need to listen in to this discussion. Note: Always check your local, state, and federal laws regarding motorcycle exhaust systems. GET V&H EXHAUST SYSTEMS IN OUR OFFICIAL STORE HERE AND HELP SUPPORT US Putting these V&H Power Dual headers on increased the sound of Brian's bike, because of the cat now being gone. It also increased performance & cut out a ton of heat. We really liked the overall sound with the installation of the V&H Titan 450 OS slip-on mufflers. Remapping your motorcycle's Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) is necessary when you change the flow of exhaust or air intake on your Harley, such as we did in these exhaust installs. Make it easy and get a V&H Fuelpak 3 Electronic Fuel Injection Tuner from our store. We highly recommend this EFI tuner and we use it heavily here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media. Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast Part 1 of 2-In this two-part series, Oscar and I give you an inside look into the life of a Police Motorcycle Officer. Both Oscar and I are full-time Police Motor Officers. Of course, in our off time is when we create all the content for Law Abiding Biker™ Media, Inc. We get into great detail about Police Motor Officer initial training schools and ongoing training. We discuss riding equipment and our thoughts on the different motorcycles used by different departments. I am assigned a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Police Motorcycle, while Oscar is assigned Honda ST 1300 Police Motorcycle. We give you the pros and cons for both and I have trained on both. Not all Police Motor Officer training is the same. I am very blessed and get the best of initial and ongoing motorcycle training and get to compete. Oscar also gets great initial and ongoing training and will hopefully compete next year. There are departments that get very little initial Police Motorcycle Training and lack ongoing training, which is very dangerous in my opinion. If you ever wanted to know all about Police Motor Officers from the perspective of two actual Motor Officers, then this is a must listen to episode. Ep 146LAB-146-Bassani 2x2 Dual Head Pipes | Python True Dual Headpipes

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-We spent the day installing and filming two complete Harley exhaust systems. We installed a set of Bassani 2x2 Dual Head Pipes on Matt "Lurch" Couchman's 2015 Harley Road Glide Special. We installed Python True Dual Headpipes on Rick "Big Daddy" Kane's 2016 Harley Road Glide Special. Both these header systems get rid of your catalytic converter (cat), opening up the flow, increasing power & sound, & greatly reducing heat to the rider. Cats create a large amount of heat. Note: Always check your local, state, and federal law regarding motorcycle exhaust systems. Bassani: The Bassani pipes are nice because they are basically the exact same as the stock Harley head pipes minus the catalytic (cat) converter. This opens up the flow of exhaust, creates power & sound, and significantly cuts down on heat. They also re-use the stock chrome heat shields, which saves you money. These headers have both 18mm and 12mm O2 sensor ports. You can use your stock Harley o2 sensors with these headers. If you want to change your O2 sensors out and use wide-band O2 sensors then you can use the larger 18mm bungs. Plugs come with the headers for 12mm and 18mm, so you can plug one set off. Putting these headers on increased the sound of Lurch's bike, because of the cat now being gone. It also increased performance & cut out a ton of heat. Lurch was already running V&H Titan 450 OS slip-on mufflers. Python: The Python true duals are just that, two separate pipes all the way from the heads to the rear. There is no chamber, so the back pressure is just not there. It's well known that true duals are not the number one choice for actual performance anyways. They look great and sound good though. These pipes only come with 12mm O2 bungs, which is great because you can use your stock Harley O2 sensors. You'd have to have 18mm bungs welded in if you wanted to use aftermarket wide-band O2 sensors. We didn't notice any significant increase or decrease in performance after install. However, we did notice a great improvement in sound and the reduction of heat from having no cats. We do have some back pressure because Big Daddy was already running Vance & Hines Eliminator 400 slip-on mufflers. Note: We want to thank our friends over at Revzilla for sending us both these exhaust systems for review. If you like this episode and find it useful, please consider purchasing any Bassani or Python systems or other products through our Revzilla Affiliate Link. No additional cost to you, but we get a small kickback if you click through and make a purchase. Ep 145LAB-145-Beware-No Motorcycle Insurance-Medical Personal Injury Protection (PIP)-Are You Covered?

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we talk all about the lack of no-fault personal injury protection (PIP) insurance for motorcycle riders in many states. As a motorcycle rider, you likely have no clue you don't have PIP coverage and that could leave you high and dry if you go down on your motorcycle. Of course, insurance companies just want your money and are not going to readily advise you of things like this. In Washington State, insurance companies are not required to provide PIP insurance to motorcyclists and so they don't. Remember, insurance companies are there to make money & they're good at it. How many insurance companies do you see going out of business? Note: We are no insurance experts, but here's some of what we learned through our own independent research. Many riders out there get a motorcycle and are so excited that they go down and get insurance quickly and leave, thinking they are properly covered. We've been riding for many years and this subject matter just came to our attention. Wow, we were surprised. I had an acquaintance go down on his motorcycle when a car pulled out in front of him and he was injured and had to be transported to the Hospital. His insurance agent now felt it was the time to tell him that he had no PIP coverage and he was on his own for all his medical bills. Then his employer provided insurance told him that it was the auto insurance companies responsibility. Meanwhile, all the bills were stacking up. I did some research and was so surprised that I was just learning of this. In Washington, it's actually State Law that what auto insurance doesn't pick up in an accident, a rider's employer provided insurance is required to take over and cover the bills. That is if you even have decent or any employer insurance at all. If you don't have employer-provided insurance then you are really screwed. Especially, if the other driver is not insured as in this incident. In this case, the employer insurance company was wrong and put on notice. They quickly realized it is their responsibility per State Law and they are now covering his medical bills, but not without sticking him with deductibles and co-pays. This is why you really must sit down with your motorcycle insurance agent and ask the tough "what if" questions. Make up situations and question them on what would happen. Your eyes might open very wide at their answers and your lack of coverage. I also have uninsured/underinsured motorist protection on my motorcycle insurance policy. There are different coverage amounts/maximums depending on your financial needs. If an uninsured driver or someone that doesn't have great insurance is at fault then I am covered that way. So, if the at-fault driver is covered by insurance, but not well, my insurance will pick up the rest of the bill up to my maximums set forth in my policy. There are insurance companies that do offer some very low-level personal injury coverage similar to no-fault PIP, but they don't call it that. No fault, means that medical bills for the motorcycle rider will be paid, regardless of who's fault the collision is. Beware of this PIP imitation coverage that insurance companies are advising you of and make sure it really is what you are looking for. Understand, the maximum for this alternate PIP coverage is very low. We found that you can pay several hundred extra hundred dollars a year for up to $10k no fault injury insurance for your motorcycle. You can pay more, but it seems they will not cover you for any more than $20k. That goes very quick when you are talking about medical bills. Some riders get that extra PIP imitation insurance in Washington State as a way to have coverage to pay their employee insurance deductibles and co-pays, since the employer insurance is going to have to cover it the medical bills anyways. If you ride a motorcycle, have no PIP insurance, and you have no employer-provided insurance in Washington State and other States and you go down at your fault, you have zero coverage for your medical bills. Sure, they'll replace your motorcycle, but they could care less about your injuries. That's a scary reality. I'd suggest you look at alternatives to getting some sort of protection or medical insurance and make sure to ask the tough questions to make sure you are covered should you go down. Make darn sure you have uninsured/underinsured motorcycle coverage. That way if it's not your fault and the other driver is uninsured or underinsured you are covered. Of course, you're covered somewhat if the at-fault driver is insured, but who knows what their insurance coverage limits are. Many motorists carry the bare minimum coverage. Oh, and what if the causing driver does a hit and run and can't later be located by law enforcement? Yup, another question you should ask your motorcycle insurance agent. Hit and run collisions happen daily in the jurisdiction I work in as a Law Enforcement Officer. This gets complicate

Ep 143LAB-143-Sena Cavalry Bluetooth Half Helmet Review & Discussion-Real World Testing

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode, we talk all about the new Cavalry Bluetooth half helmet from Sena. We put these helmets to the ultimate test in a real life motorcycle riding environment. What does this helmet mean and does it work for the real world everyday biker out there? We answer this and many other questions you may be asking yourself in this podcast episode. Note: If you appreciate our free videos, podcasts, and this information, please consider purchasing a Sena Cavalry Half Helmet directly through our store! The Cavalry has a Sena 10R headset Bluetooth system built right in and integrated nicely. The speakers are built right into the helmet and sound great for a helmet style headset. There are ear flaps that help direct the speaker sound into your ears. You may also want to check out my complete tutorial video on how to use the Sena Cavalry Bluetooth headset system. You can listen to your music wirelessly and make phone calls going down the freeway at 70+ mph. Yah-really, in a half helmet! You can also pair your Cavalry helmet with up to three other riders for group or single communications at a max distance of 1/2 mile was our findings. The Cavalry helmet does pair with the Sena Freewire Bluetooth transmitter/receiver. When the two are paired, this allows you to have wireless integration with your Harley-Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. You can give voice commands directly to the Boom Box system and hear anything coming out of the Boom Box such as music and GPS voice directions wirelessly inside your Cavalry helmet. The Calvary helmet is definitely geared more towards a touring rider with a fairing or windshield, which helps cut down wind noise, so you can hear the music, make phone calls, use rider-to-rider communications, and give voice commands. The capabilities of the Sena Cavalry helmet are greatly reduced if riding a motorcycle without a fairing due to the added wind noise. If just riding around town or slow country roads, you may be able to use the Cavalry helmet on a motorcycle without wind protection. The Sena 10R headset that is built into the Cavalry charges fully in about three hours and has about 10 hours talk time. There is also an FM radio built in with station presets. Of course, you can pair your Cavalry with Sena's beautiful smartphone app to easily manage settings. Using Sena's desktop app for MAC or Windows, you can plug your helmet in and update the software, which should be done immediately. Ep 141LAB-141-Motorcycle Profiling in the U.S. is NOT a Serious Issue | Stop the Propaganda

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-You may hear or see less than reputable websites out there pushing their agenda and claiming that motorcycle profiling by law enforcement is some huge out of control issue in the United States. If you are reasonable, do your research, focus on the evidence and facts, and check who is behind pushing such legislation, you'll find the real truth. That is what we want to expose in this episode. You really need to listen in to be fully educated on the matter. Please understand, that I am totally against any and all "motorcycle profiling" by any law enforcement officer and it is improper. The very few possible cases involving such should be looked into for sure. But, let's not claim it's a big issue when it's not. Bikers/motorcyclists are stopped day after day all over the U.S. and all goes well, so focus on that fact for a moment. You'd see it on your nightly news for certain if it were some large ongoing issue. Additionally, as I've always stated, not every member of every 1%er outlaw motorcycle gang is committing crimes all day every day. However, it is a fact that there are large factions within these OMG's that have committed and are committing criminal offenses of all sorts. This has been proven over a very long period of time with many OMG members convicted of an array of crimes and serving long jail and prison terms. I have come across many OMG clubs over the years and never personally had a problem with them. On April 13, 2011, then Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire made effective a new law banning motorcycle profiling, which by the way was already not legal under long-standing laws that were already in place. That is my first point, and you'll see that this changed nothing, which is why it was easy for Gregoire to sign. This made the very few bikers behind the legislation happy, which is why I call it a "feel good" law. It changes nothing. Basically, the law added some minor training for new law enforcement officers, but it gives no specifics on length of that training or who monitors that it is occurring. Nothing changed as this sort of training was already in place. Oh, and the new law states that law enforcement agencies should put it in their policy manuals. Yup, most agencies already had profiling policies in place long before this law. When you see the pictures of when the law became effective, you'll see Gregoire with outlaw motorcycle gang member and 1%ers. I can't blame her, as she likely had no clue who was actually pushing such a law. She clearly was not educated on these matters and that they were a minority of actual bikers. Sure it sounds great to say "stop motorcycling profiling", but it's not really a problem. You didn't see law abiding bikers pushing the law or standing next to the Governor in photos. Nope, it was pushed mostly by outlaw motorcycle clubs and affiliates, which account for less than 1% of motorcyclists on the roads. The more protection they can get the better I guess was their stance. Or maybe they don't really know that it changed nothing. Be careful of the propaganda you'll see online making motorcycle profiling seem like this is some out of control issue. It just simply isn't. Be very careful and always do your own research. On these rarely viewed small websites, you'll see a few very old videos of select encounters with officers that they cling to. Do I think officers make mistakes or act badly at times? Heck yeah, that stuff happens. However, statistically, less than 1% of law enforcement officers in the United States are corrupt or "dirty" in some way. No other place in the world can claim anything even close to that. That is a better average than doctors, lawyers, and clergymen. We have the best law enforcement officers in the world and that's a fact. The propaganda continues with these minority of bikers putting out a survey they did as if it were valid. This is why you always need to look at what's behind a survey before you accept it. They call it the "National Motorcycling Profiling Survey 2015-2016". Sounds official, doesn't it? That's exactly what they want you to believe, so they can continue to push their agenda. Quick research shows that the San Diego Confederation of Clubs (COC) put the invalid survey out. The COC is not recognized by law abiding biker clubs for the most part. It has no power or authority over motorcyclists. It's a private organization that is mostly made up of outlaw motorcycle club members. The COC used Survey Monkey, a free online survey system. They sent the survey to all their acquaintances, outlaw clubs, and affiliates. They only had about 5,000 participants. I have to laugh........and this is called a "National Survey"? By running an improper and unofficial survey, they got the very results they were looking for. The surveyed a very small minority of persons that already bought into their hype. We don't even know if they surveyed actual bikers? That survey was not

Official Website: Podcast-In this episode we talk all about the 2016 Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider S we have in the Law Abiding Biker™ garage for a while. We have done quite a few projects on it and of course, we filmed them for you. Check out our video titled, Install Forward Controls on a Harley Davidson Softail or Dyna-Guide & Instructions. We recently put new 12" West Coast MX T-Bars on this bike and they look awesome! Check out our video titled, Install Handlebars Harley Dyna, Softail, Sportster | Extend Wires & Cables. The 2016 Dyna Low Rider S (special) was the first for this model. Harley is making some "special" models. Although they are not a "CVO" model, they are somewhat of a "one off" bike and they have some special things about them. Harley seems to be doing this with other models too. Our 2016 Dyna Low Rider S came stock with the Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine (1,801 cc) on this small frame bike. And she really rips! It also came stock with cruise control and throttle by wire. It has a cable clutch and not hydraulic clutch, which we would have preferred. It also comes with upgraded suspension, the six-speed transmission, ABS brakes, and dual front disc brakes. We put Vance & Hines Short Shots Staggered exhaust and we tuned the electronic fuel injection (EFI) using a Vance and Hines Fuel Pak 3. The bike came with a stage one Screamin Eagle air intake. I am really digging riding this bike now that we have it all setup! New Free Video Announced: How to Replace & Install a Shifter Lever Shaft Seal on a Harley-Davidson EMAIL 1: From: Will Janes Video Referenced: Access, View & Clear Harley Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's)-For All Years/Models Your email regarding the security code for Harley's........ I read your information and there is something that you should know. I'm a retired Police Officer from York Region and have had bikes for 40 odd years. I have about 14 now. In August of this year I purchased a new Harley Ultra Limited Low. When I picked up my new bike, they showed my how the security system works and taking their advise, I changed the code. Safe and secure! In October I had my bike in the garage and attempted to start it. It would not start and a member came up to trailer it to the dealership. This gentleman made several attempts to start the bike without any luck. He asked me for my security code and I told him I had forgotten it. He then told me that he could override my code and start the bike. I was curious and again asked him how he could override my security code. He told me that the dealership people have the knowledge to do this override! Interesting. So basically dealership employees could steal my bike! Turns out there was a module in the starter circuit that burnt out. They fixed it the next day..good service! Ep 138LAB-138-Harley Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) to Carburetor Conversion | Guide & Instructions

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we talk about Rick (Big Daddy) Kane's large-scale project he just completed on his 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King, named "Chola". This bike has a ton of rich history and you really need to go back and listen to Podcast Episode #106, where Rick breaks it all down for you. That will help you have a more true appreciation for this current project. Check out the Official Law Abiding Biker Store! Rick decided to do a full electronic fuel injection (EFI) to carburetor conversion on Chola. Yah, this is not something you hear about being done very often, but it can be and is done on occasion. Of course, there are reasons to do something as drastic as this. In Rick's case, he was having troubles with the older Magneti Marelli style EFI system Harley used from 1995-2001. These systems did not utilize O2 sensors in the exhaust for tuning. TheseMagneti Marelli systems are well known for causing problems and annoyances. In 2002, Harley-Davidson switched and started using the Delphi EFI systems on their motorcycles, which are more reliable and utilize exhaust O2 sensors for proper tuning. This Magneti Marelli system left us stranded late one night in the middle of nowhere in the pitch black. I followed and Rick was barely able to limp the bike back to town. Listen in as we tell the story. These types of EFI problems require expensive computers to properly diagnose. So, Rick took it to a friend of ours at a dealership to diagnose it with their computers. Things were never just right after several times to the shop to diagnose and Rick spent about $800. He actually had to push his Road King home about 1 1/2 miles! It ended up being recurring annoying problems with the cam timing sensor and neutral throttle sensor. Rick decided he'd had enough with the Magneti Marelli EFI system and wanted to get rid of it all together. He could have converted to the new Delphi EFI system but has always loved carburetors. Rick made the decision to do a full conversion from Magneti Marelli EFI to a carburetor system instead. Once and for all, he wanted no more problems with his 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King. Listen in as Rick describes the exact process he went through and the exact parts he used to make the carb conversion. He lays it all out for you in this episode and tells of what carburetor he went with. Rick is a wealth of knowledge on this subject and I learned a ton from him. He has some great resources for you if you might be contemplating this project. Ep 137LAB-137-Following Too Close on a Motorcycle? Legal and Safety Issues | Dealing With Motorcycle Insurance Companies

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode we play a voice message from Cody Case, who is a long-time supporter of Law Abiding Biker™ Media. Cody was involved in a motorcycle collision a week before Street Vibrations and he totaled his Harley. We are super thankful Cody was not seriously injured in the crash. Cody was following a vehicle pulling a trailer with no lights or turn signals, which stopped in front of him. Cody rear-ended the trailer. Per Cody, the driver had no license or insurance. The other driver was cited and Cody received NO citations from law enforcement. Check out the Official Law Abiding Biker Store! Cody was insured through Geico motorcycle insurance. Even though Cody received no citations, Geico motorcycle insurance told him the collision was his fault and they doubled his monthly rates. Listen in as we discuss Cody's incident and weigh in on the laws regarding appropriate following distances for motorcyclists. We also discuss civil infractions and the burden of proof in comparison to civil litigations and insurance company decisions. Each state has their own laws in regards to appropriate following distances. It is hard to paint a broad picture and things will vary on how both Law Enforcement and insurance companies deal with following too close. Let me share Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 46.61.145 since that is where I reside. Following too closely. (1) The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway. (2) The driver of any motor truck or motor vehicle drawing another vehicle when traveling upon a roadway outside of a business or residence district and which is following another motor truck or motor vehicle drawing another vehicle shall, whenever conditions permit, leave sufficient space so that an overtaking vehicle may enter and occupy such space without danger, except that this shall not prevent a motor truck or motor vehicle drawing another vehicle from overtaking and passing any like vehicle or other vehicle. (3) Motor vehicles being driven upon any roadway outside of a business or residence district in a caravan or motorcade whether or not towing other vehicles shall be so operated as to allow sufficient space between each such vehicle or combination of vehicles so as to enable any other vehicle to enter and occupy such space without danger. This provision shall not apply to funeral processions. Cody's incident demonstrates that insurance companies will find you at fault when rear-ending another vehicle regardless if it had working lights/signals or not. They seem to follow the rule that motorcyclists need to leave enough following distance to stop even if the vehicle they are following stops suddenly, stops for no reason, or does not have lights/signals. It really seems to be the complete responsibility of the following motorcycle rider to make certain they have all the room necessary to stop in any circumstance. Regardless of insurance, as riders, we must be mindful of our safety first. Insurance company decisions are secondary. If we don't leave a safe following distance to avoid a collision, we may not get a second chance. We all get comfortable and think we can stop faster than we can on our motorcycles. I say, if you are following a car and it seems to be a safe distance, double it and you're probably safe. It is hard for our mind to calculate time and distance real time. We tend to feel overly confident when riding our motorcycles at times. Ciro 3D has a passion for design and innovation. If you haven't been to a riding course and practiced emergency braking, please do so. It will open your eyes to just how long it can take to stop a motorcycle. Of course, this is dependant on what brake system you have, the weight of your bike, tires, etc. After much practice, you'll realize that you'll gain confidence and improve your motorcycle emergency braking skills, thus stopping faster. A safe following distance is always the best practice, so you don't have to emergency brake. The two-second rule Under normal conditions, the two-second rule is an easy way to make sure you have left enough following distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front, no matter what speed you're traveling at. To check if you are traveling two seconds behind the vehicle in front: watch the vehicle in front of you pass a landmark - such as a sign, tree or power pole - at the side of the road as it passes the landmark, start counting 'one thousand and one, one thousand and two' if you pass the landmark before you finish saying those eight words, you are following too closely - slow down, pick another landmark and

Ep 136LAB-136-Installing MX T-Bar Handlebars on a 2016 Harley Dyna Low Rider S!

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Lurch and I spent all day in the Law Abiding Biker™ garage starting another Harley-Davidson handlebar install project on a 2016 Dyna Low Rider S. Fresh out of the garage, we break it down for you and give you some must know information, so listen in. We also had Lawdog "LD" in the studio with an update on our upcoming 2017 Canada motorcycle trip where we will be meeting up with Patron Members of Law Abiding Biker™. We are installing 12" Westcoast MX T-bars on the Dyna Low Rider S & internally wiring them! We lifted this baby up with our beloved TITAN SDML-1000D-XLT MOTORCYCLE LIFT TABLE! Lurch and I broke the Harley down and we're filming the entire project for you as usual. We will eventually add this video to our very popular collection of Harley-Davidson handlebar install videos! Check out the Official Law Abiding Biker Store! There is not much information out right now in catalogs and online on the Dyna Low Rider S, as it was a special production bike. So, we broke it down and measured the stock clutch cable and front upper brake line. We figured out how much over stock length we'd need to go to accommodate these 12" T-bars. Armed with proper cable/line lengths, we ordered up what we'd need and had the shipping expedited, so we can put the bike back together and finish the project. Ep 135LAB-135-Mayans Motorcycle Club (MC)-Sons of Anarchy Spinoff Show on FX

E

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode Chewy, Lurch, and I tell you everything we have learned about the new Sons of Anarchy spinoff pilot that has been ordered by FX called the Mayans MC that will start shooting in March 2017. The Mayans MC show is officially happening, according to FX. This is no longer a rumor, it's an official series on the network's schedule. Sons Of Anarchy aired its finale in 2014 and many of us have longed for a spinoff series. SOA was the highest-rated ongoing drama series in FX history. We hope some of that greatness can spill over into this new show. Production on the pilot is set to begin in March and will be set in a post Jax Teller world. The show is said to follow EZ Reyes, a Mayan prospect, who will struggle with his desire for vengeance against the local cartel and his need for the women in his life to respect him. The show is set on the Mexi/Cali border. The Mayans, a Latino MC, controlled Northern, CA and all of Nevada during the SOA series. Emilio Rivera played the role of the President of Mayans Oakland Chapter in the SOA Series. It hasn't been confirmed that he's reprising his role as Marcus Alvarez, the president of Mayans MC, but his social networks have let fans know that he is involved with the show in some fashion. Both he and Sutter have posted numerous photos of themselves, the Mayans, and teases about the show. It seems Charlie Hunnam, who played Jax Teller, in the original SOA series will not be involved in the Mayan's MC show at all. The show will be directed by "Sons" creator Kurt Sutter from a script from Sutter and Elgin James. Sutter will serve as executive producer, with James as co-executive producer. We think between these two individuals we should get a very creative and interesting show. Mayans MC will most likely take the Tuesday night slot that was previously held by Sons Of Anarchy. While an official premiere date hasn't been released by the FX network or Kurt Sutter, the show is expected to debut in Fall 2017. Mayans MC will most likely take the Tuesday night slot that was previously held by Sons Of Anarchy. There is much speculation on the exact story line of the show. Will we see Sons of Anarchy club members appear in the series? Or will they not integrate SOA at all? The show may go completely in its own direction. You must listen in to this episode to get our predictions, insight, and opinions. Ep 134LAB-134-Harley-Davidson Alternators, Stators, Regulators, Rectifiers-Charging System | Complete Guide

E

Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-A special thanks to guest Evan Grist of Fort Collins, Colorado, who is an electrical engineer and affiliated with RMSTATOR, a manufacturer of high-end power sports electrical parts. Via Skype, we were able to bounce our questions off Evan. In this episode, we'll teach you everything you need to know about your Harley-Davidson charging system. We break it down to what bikers actually need to know in an understandable way. Your Harley-Davidson, or most motorcycles for that matter, use the same type of charging system, often referred to as a permanent magnet alternator. In a car, an alternator is belt driven. In a motorcycle, it is driven by magnets embedded around the flywheel. The flywheel is permanently affixed to the crankshaft, which is spinning with the engine RPM's. Check out the Official Law Abiding Biker Store! So, the easy way to generate power is with a stator inside that flywheel magnet system. A stator is a metal core and is made up of a bunch of stamped steel plates that are riveted together. It's insulated with some sort of powder coat or plastic to protect the wires. There are windings wrapped around it, which are a particular gauge of solid core copper wire that's insulated. So, you end up with coils of wire wrapped around the stator. Those are attached to a wiring harness, which exits the side case of the motor & heads to the regulator/rectifier. And finally, to the battery to charge it. With the motor running, you have your crankshaft spinning with the flywheel attached to the end with the magnets spinning outside of the stator. Those magnets spinning past and around the metal core with wire wrapped around it generates electricity. And there you have it. You may hear this referred to as an alternator at times. If you hear someone call this an alternator on a motorcycle, they are generally referring to the entire package, the flywheel and stator. You do see Harley-Davidson refer to it as an alternator in their manuals. Regulator/Rectifier: The alternate current (AC) current created by the stator cannot be sent directly to the battery. It needs to be prepared, limited, and changed to direct current (DC) to correctly charge your battery. The current would destroy your battery if not first sent to the regulator/rectifier. In a motorcycle, the stator flywheel set up creates electricity and sends it to a separate regulator/rectifier. In a car, the rectifier/regulator is built into the alternator. On a Harley-Davidson, you'll recognize the separate regulator/rectifier as a little black box with cooling fins machined into it and it often times sits up front behind the rear tire attached to the frame. Regulator/Rectifier=2 Functions: Rectifier: The rectifier is responsible for converting the alternate current (AC) current created by the stator to direct current (DC). Basically, it chops off the negative polarity portion of the current that the battery can't use. Then it passes the current to the battery. Regulator: The regulator protects the battery voltage and when the battery voltage climbs too high it shuts off current to ground and bleeds it off as heat. That is what the heat fins on the regulator box are for, to dissipate the heat. If the regulator did not monitor the voltage to your battery it would destroy it. Note: Often times a bad regulator can do just that, send too much voltage to the battery. Battery: All the current required to run your motorcycle comes from your battery. The stator system charges your battery and replenishes it. You could actually run your motorcycle just fine for some time without a working stator as the battery has reserve current. Of course, the battery would eventually die. Aftermarket High Output Stators: If you add too many electrical accessories then you'll come a point that your stator just can't produce enough current to keep the battery charged. There may be subtle hints over time-like your bike starter is sluggish and has trouble cranking the motor over. There are available aftermarket high output stators. However, it is not wise to install an aftermarket high output stator just because. You should only do this if you actually need it to keep your battery charged. If your motorcycle is not consuming all that extra current the high output stator is producing then you end up dumping that entire load on your regulator. This is a quick way to ruin your regulator by overheating it. Can I test the load my electrical accessories are creating? You can look in your service manual and see what your stator is rated for in amps. Then you can find your electrical accessories (lights, heated grips, heated seats, stereo amps etc) you have added and find out what wattage they are rated for. A good rule of thumb is you can convert to power by multiplying the stator amps (current) x the battery (voltage). You can use 13 as a good all around battery voltage. That is a good healthy battery staying charged just above 12 vo
