Have you ever asked yourself what sports network executives think about when they hire their talent? How absurd is that individuals like Urban Meyer can disgrace a franchise not to mention what transpired in his last two stops at Florida and Ohio St. An individual's past doesn't seem to matter to sports networks. I use Ray Lewis as an example when he was hired at ESPN. I then go over Matt Barne's troubling past and ask how on earth is he coveted by broadcast companies! As the Kings prepare for the upcoming season talk continues from fans and some media regarding GM Monte McNair's contract status. He is entering the final year of his deal. In an exclusive interview with the Sacramento Bee, Team owner Vikek Ranadive was quoted as saying " I think right now the focus is: Let's win". He is 100% correct. Win and McNair will get a new deal! The Sacramento Kings had their annual media day yesterday! Optimism is running high as it is with the other 29 teams in the league. I mean it's not like players come out on media day and say we suck right? For the Kings though, talk is cheap. We have all heard this before. It is time to let you actions on the court do the talking. Go out and win some games. As far as GM Monte McNair and the talk of a contract extension goes, I say why? There is no need to give McNair a new deal now. If team is good this year, then everything will take care of itself. The Kings have wasted way too much money, because they have been careless with contract extensions. Win and everything will be fine! Pro sports is a bottom-line business. Yesterday the Miami Dolphins looked like they had lost their QB when Tua Tagovailoa hit his head hard against the turf after being hit by the Bills Matt Milano. Milano was penalized for a late hit and Tua was slow to get up and then fell as he tried to walk back to the huddle. He was then taken to the locker room a short time later. At halftime the Dolphins said Tua was questionable to return with a head injury. Tua started the second half and now the NFLPA wants a review of the situation. Ya think? All eyes are on New York this weekend as Aaron Judge of the Yankees tries to pass Roger Maris's home run mark of 61. The Boston Celtics suspended coach Ime Udoka for the entire season for violations of team policies. He had a consensual, intimate relationship with a woman in the Celtics organization which violated team policy. According to Adrain Wojnarowski of ESPN and Shams Charania of The Athletic, Celtics coach Ime Udoka may be suspended for the upcoming season. Why? According to Shams, Udoka had an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff, a violation of the franchise's code of conduct. Does anyone really believe this? Yesterday the NBA fined Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves 40k for anti-gay comments. Last spring, the NBA suspended Meyers Leonard, then of the Heat for a week after he made an anti-Semitic slur. Meyers was quickly traded to the Thunder and then was cut. He is out of the league. This summer Draymond Green of the Warriors called former player and current ESPN host Kendrick Perkins a racial slur. What did the NBA do to Green? Nothing! What a joke! Seven days ago, on Grant's Rant i said that there was no way Trey Lance would remain healthy. Unfortunately, that came true yesterday when he broke his ankle against the Seahawks. Lance will have surgery today and be lost for the season. I say unfortunately, because you hate see players getting hurt, but the 49ers are now a better team. My guest is F.P. Santangelo who played in the Bigs for 6 seasons. F.P. moved from Michigan to El Dorado Hills, CA at age 7 and is the definition of hard work in perseverance. We began the conversation talking about his early years that led him to pro ball. In 1995 F.P. made his major league debut with the Expos and finished 4th in NL Rookie of the Year voting. in 2001 F.P. was on the A's and played the Yankees in the playoffs 4 weeks after 9-11. Awful loss for the 49ers yesterday in Chicago. Too many penalties, too many mistakes and a so so debut for Niners QB Trey Lance. And by saying so so I am being kind. His 4th quarter interception gave the Bears all of the momentum. Bottom Line it was a bad day for the 49ers. If you're a Raiders fans you have to be wondering if Derek Carr will ever be "that guy". I was watching the Yankees game yesterday and Josh Donaldson was thrown by two steps at second base because he thought he hit a homer.
